  • They really dropped the ball on this one. At minimum it should have launched with base killers and survivors for free. The fact you have to buy a cosmetic to get it is an awful idea. It should be tied to achievements and events for free. Then have banners and icons in the rift instead of some of these 2D looking charms.

Now at launch the few people who have a banner and icon are of Chucky only. Didn't one of the devs during the stream say that players want to be able to express themselves as unique individuals? Can't do that when everyone is Chucky until the bone chill event and then everyone is winter or Chucky until the next cosmetic tied banner and icon. Very poorly implemented!

Would be nice if at p10, 11, and 12 you get the perk icon and banner like you get a charm of them at P7,8, and 9. I was really looking forward to banners now it's a big disappointment :(

  • I would love it if they reworked him again but this time also changed his model so he looks like the original Freddy and have Robert Englund voice him. I can only dream... 1... 2....

  • You knew what I meant. It's not that serious

Also consider no DC penalty. Anyone wanting to try him will face DC’s as people will want to face Chucky. Should have saved it for a mid chapter.

I agree and you can try him with bots but that's only one sided. I want to see how it is playing against him as survivor. A killer main is going to say he is perfect if he is OP. You need both sides of opinions from this test build.

That sounds like way too much work to program and animate.

They say it takes a year from concept to release for each killer. It's honestly not much to animate

  • My theory is that Chucky actually drags the survivor to a hook instead of picking them up. That the hook poles will be the normal height but only the hook itself will be lowered. Then when he hooks them from the ground (he still has the strength of a grown man) the hook rises to the top of the pole. A survivor could then be struggling to break free from his grasp on the ground and if they wiggle out, they stand up right away. That's the only way I can see that as working. But we will find out tomorrow if it even is chucky and if so how they will go about hooking.

I thought BHVR said that it wasn't ready yet. Is it playable now?

    Yes

  • This is a forum for discussion about a video game. That includes discussing about future updates. It's perfectly fine and normal for people to talk about and have concerns about any update before something goes live (or before a play test). If you don't like people talking about what they have read about a blog post including issues they see that could arise, then either ignore it - or realize that forums are just not for you because you don't like hearing opinions that don't align to yours.

Or I guess you could just create an entire thread telling people how to react to an updated blog post about a video game. Choices.

He has to land 16 knives to take you from healthy to dying and you still get a speed boost upon becoming injured. If you can't get yourself to safety before being hit by 16 knives, that was your own fault. Trickster has always excelled at open areas and low walls. Nothing has changed.

16 fast knives (now 4 per second instead of 3), plus main event going off after hitting someone 6 times. If they bring the add-on to reload after main event, he never has to reload his blades again. I mean we will have to see in the PTB

  • I know, it's such a crazy change that people are thinking it's a typo. I don't think it's a typo the way it was presented. They really said let's make an annoying killer more annoying.

  • @Crowman said:

Trickster being 4.4m/s was always a huge hinderance to him, because he was never good at dealing with survivors at a range. Landing a knife from 20m+ accomplishes nothing. Not to mention the reliance on hitting multiple times with his power meant that certain loops he auto-lost at, because being 4.4m/s meant he couldn't just hold w after the survivor and he was never hitting the knives quick enough to deal any damage. 4.6m/s means that he's not completely screwed over at very specific tiles.

Activating Main Event after 3 knives isn't necessarily a big deal. Right now it's too easy to never have a good moment to use Main Event, because either the survivor is already downed or the survivor is in an area where Main Event would be an active hinderance. Plus I honestly don't think it's worthwhile to bring both addons to reduce the number of knives to trigger main event over some of his other addons.

Also you can't really be comparing Nurse to Trickster.

Wasn't really comparing. It was more on the line of saying that people are so quick to say a killer is trash because they don't know how to play as them - so they give up. Back when DBD first came out you only had a few killers to pick and people got really good with Nurse. If Nurse came out today, people would say she was trash and hard to control. Her play rate would go way down. Then BHVR would buff the hell out of her and now people who are new to playing as her could play like a pro and then the pros would be able to mow people down even faster. They probably even give nurse 4.6 speed. All speculation of course but this is what I have noticed with anything BHVR releases. It makes me think Trickster is getting a legendary outfit with a unique Mori soon...

  • @GroßusSchmiedus said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/395743/trickster-massive-buff-i-have-major-concerns

He also has to hit 8 times which means he has to reload more often.

Not to mention even with all of this he is likely still going to be worse than Artist, the biggest problem of Trickster was always his lack of identity imo. There was never a good reason to pick him over DS/Huntress. He can neither snipe like Artist or use tiny gaps like Deathslinger for downs. The only thing i enjoyed about him was Ricochet blades because it increased his skill ceiling and made him more distinct and i hoped for a rework that made it basekit and played around that instead.

Yeah, but he now throws four blades per second instead of three. That's why they increased it. Plus being able to get main event so quickly, having to hit them 8 times is not going to be noticeable at all. Plus when you factor in a trickster bringing the add-on where the blades bounce off of walls and they bring you to an indoor map. That's going to be... fun

I don't think that an ability to flick should be a core power. That means that most people won't get most(if any) value from Xeno.

It wasn't a flick. They just straight up got me on the other side of the front desk. It was an easy M2 hit for them. Here is a screenshot to show what I'm talking about. Killer is where it shows an "X" and I was on the other side of the desk. Alien was able to easily use their tail whip to get me on the other side. That's huge for any killer because it's a strong loop otherwise. This is just one of many loop examples the tail can easily get someone. If you're not good with their power, doesn't mean it needs to be buffed. Practice. Nurse is very hard to play as, we all know she does not need a buff. She is strong in the right hands.

  • I love it but his left arm swinging with a trap is very distracting. There is a constant swing on the bottom left of the screen - it's annoying and I hope they fix it.

  • Last week I was playing against an Alien at Lery's Memorial and I was doing the loop around the front desk that's next to the exit. The one with the pallet in the middle of it. Alien was able to tail whip me from the other side of the front desk. He does not need to be buffed, you just need to practice more with his whip.

  • Also been happening to me and it's not on the user's side, it's on BHVR dedicated server side. Will be interesting to see if they close this still. If anything get rid of DC penalty going longer than 5 minutes. I'm willing to wait that long but once I start to hit 15 and 30 min bans for something I can't control - it's frustrating especially when I'm trying to unlock event items

  • I still see a lot of survivors give up still once they see it's a SM. Not that I condone that at all, but I don't get annoyed or upset when people do it. I get why they would. I think SM just needs a full reboot even if it means changing her power completely and replace drones with something else.

  • Survivors risk a killer not having any aura reading when they bring distortion. The killer risk a survivor bringing distortion when bringing an aura reading perk. No need to change them just for a few players that are annoyed that their perks are less useful. Same with some people think light born should be removed because it ruins their fun to flashlight blind a killer. Every game is going to be different. That's the fun in it. If you change every perk to make it the same thing every game it's going to get stale very fast.

  • Yup, and if you report this in the bug section they say it's a problem on your end and will close it. When it's not a problem on our ends, it's on their end.

  • Objectives makes this game boring for me. Chases are what's fun and different in every game. I would play less if there were more objectives for my solo teammates to not do.

  • It's like light born on killer. It's a situational perk that might do nothing at all. Just like calm spirit. If you bring both Distortion and CS perks and the killer doesn't have screamy perks and aura perks then the survivor just wasted two perk slots. The perk is fine where it's at now and doesn't need to be changed.

If you want distortion nerfed to the ground then light born needs to be nerfed too. But let's not do that.

  • Update: after contacting them they refunded my auric cells after sending them the video and how it's unplayable for me. Hopefully they stop making such huge weapons especially for linked sets because it really is a nice looking cosmetic.

  • Dedicated servers are having issues. I've been disconnected because the dedicated server is down (that's the error I get) and then it gives me a DC ban. I assume this is happening to the same person.

  • I wish charms were on completed generators. Like if someone did the most progress on a gen, all of their charms will show up on it and make them the same size as the ones on the hook. It would also have something different in the game. Like who can get the most charms on generators.

  • Yup, same here. Also with Dredge

  • Same issue here, which sucks because I'm trying to do his challenges. Sometimes games go through just fine, other times I get server disconnected and it gives me a DC penalty. I'm at 15 minutes penalty right now and if I get another, I will have to put off on playing as him because I don't want a 24 hour ban. :(

  • Came here to ask the same thing. I've gotten dedicated server disconnect issues. The problem is when it disconnects because of their servers, I get a DC penalty which sucks because I'm on 15 minutes and it's just going to keep going up. It's very frustrating

  • I'm here because I was checking to see if anyone else is having this issue. My points also say zero.

    20231018203133_1.jpg

  • Came here to confirm same thing. Doesn't matter if you hook someone, down them, pick them up, break a pallet, etc. it will not reset your power and allow you to use it again. The bug only happens when you pick up the box from the ground. If you hit a survivor and down them while they are carrying the box, you don't get this bug after getting the box from them. Again - It's only when picked off the ground.

So until it's fixed, if you see it on the ground, just let it be :/

  • I've been having freezing issues with this game for the past year or so. Even after updating my graphics card. Also my internet is not losing any packets and I'm using a wired connection. The game just straight up freezes, then unfreezes, runs for a few seconds like everything is fine - then disconnects me. Then I get a ban. It's annoying. No other game does this - online or offline. Only dbd

  • A dev in the steam community has stated this is a bug and they are looking into it.

    _Screenshot 2023-10-10 182927.png

  • This is one of the early achievements that I got. I was still pretty new and other survivors didn't know about going into a locker or working on a gen missing every skill check. I can't imagine trying to get it now. Good luck!

  • I have a little over 3K hours on this game. I pretty much know the layout of every map and where pallets will generate. So I don't use WoO for that. I use it because I have no idea if the rando in my team was throwing every pallet during a chase or not. It helps me know if I'm running to a zone a rando used to drop every pallet.

  • I came here to report the same issue. I love how it's the map with the hardest basement locations that doesn't have the bug lol

  • It's not. When slugging survivors, they will shortly bleed out (even though it feels like a long time). So it's not holding the game hostage. The devs have said that a killer will not be banned for slugging.

  • @SirCracken said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/386855/dev-how-about-kill-switch-skull-merchant-for-now

This implies there's any plans to change Skull Merchant in the future.

Unfortunately, I don't think there is.

There is, one of the community leaders replied to a post about the SM 3 gen and they said they are working on it but it will take some time.

  • @SantaKlawz1 said:

It probably isn't since they don't consider body blocking a ban offense anyway. That's what they told me when I got body blocked by another survivor until killer came and downed me. Besides, those survivors could try to get that gen done and open the door.

Oh wow, they really said that's okay for a survivor to do? That's disappointing because I would have thought for sure that kind of griefing would get someone banned.

  • So is it not bannable to use an exploit to stop survivors from unhooking someone?

Also, can a dev please answer this. I appreciate the community telling me what they think, but I want to know for sure if it is or not. Just to make sure I'm not doing anything to cause a ban. Because if being able to block survivors that can't go around you from being able to unhook a survivor is not bannable, I want to know.

  • I sometimes like to run Agitation, Joltz, Thanatophobia, and Scourge Gift of Pain. It creates a damned if you do damned if you don't when it comes to healing. With agitation I can get to a scourge hook and if they get healed, they get a gen penalty and if they don't heal they still get a gen penalty. And then joltz so I don't have to worry about kicking gens too much. This build seems to work out pretty good for me and I haven't noticed killers running Thana with Gift of Pain.

  • @Crowman said:

BHVR has been classifying killer power objects as separate things that don't work with perks. Blindness doesn't block killer power objects that show their aura. Skillchecks from interacting with killer powers are not influenced by perks. Killer items no longer trigger perks like Franklins and Hoarder.

Devs don't want perks to interact with killer powers.

It's sad to see this happen. I have about 2.5K hours in game and it's getting so stale I'm ready to leave. BHVR doing this is making it worse, IMO. It's why majority of people play Wesker and Blight. Every other killer just becomes lower and lower tier as they make these changes and you start to see less of them.

  • @AssortedSorting said:

Huntress Lullaby buffed an unengaging aspect of her Power that acts as a noob stomper in part of gameplay that would see the Survivor get Killed immediately if too successful.

Allowing Perks to impact these skillchecks would simply lead to builds focused on just forcing Survivors to fail them for a headpop, circumventing other gameplay.

The limits of skillcheck difficulty on the jigsaw boxes should remain curated with pros and cons with addons, not through Perks.

I agree, if Huntress Lullaby wasn't a hex. I feel like a new player would be able to cleanse a hex totem. Especially since you get a notification of the hex as soon as you do a single skill check at the start of the game. You know what's coming and it takes time to build up by hooking survivors. Plenty of time for someone to find and cleanse the hex.

  • So anyways, I suggest to the BHVR team that we revert back to allowing Hex: Huntress Lullaby to work with Doctor and Pig traps skill checks before they made the change in 4.3.0. Thank you to whoever works for BHVR and takes this into consideration ❤️ Since it's a Hex I feel like this would be a fair change and would mix things up for Pig and Doctor players and a small change to help keep this game from going stale.

they clearly don't want it in the game if they're removing it whenever it shows up again... you're just wasting your time man. better to use your time coping that it'll bug itself again than hoping they revert it because it isn't going to happen as they've clearly shown it's an unwanted bug.

they're not going to fix a bug just to add it back, mate. it's time to let go.

Actually it was allowed but was nerfed in 4.3.0 patch.

So the bug was that it got reverted back. So I still stand by asking for them to revert it back from 4.3.0 patch, mate.

  • @devotedDBDenjoyer said:

...i'm pretty speechless for this tbh. HL getting a bugfix isn't a pig nerf. a playstyle of hers got nerfed yes, but pig herself wasn't touched. this isn't a "hey, screw pig players" this is "hey let's fix this bug". that's why it was listed in the bugfix patch, mate...

Sometimes a bug can make a game better.

So instead of reverting it back, I now suggest allowing HL to work on Doctor and Pig traps skill checks.

  • Yeah, I just see it now as Amazon Prime Gaming with Dead by Daylight has ended. It was nice while it lasted.

  • Hold on to a tape the entire game. Getting 2 stacks from a hit while holding a tape is nothing. Just pick up a new tape right away and put it in any TV. Then grab a new tape. People haven't realized this, so they are getting condemned fast. She's very easy to counter.

  • Because when I SWF, some friends can be toxic. I can only imagine what it would be like with strangers and punk kids. No thank you.
