  • yeah, depipping should be a thing of the past. so many matches as survivor i've lost pips because of a cheeky basement camping bubba or something similar (whether i was on the hook or i was on the gens). it just feels like garbage knowing that you get punished for things truly out of your control. at least it's just for a bp boost on the 13th, but still... it still sucks. i find it harder than ever to get to iri grade again without playing with friends.

  • the only thing i can see overwhelming being justifiable for is for medkits, as it wouldn't be a full heal, but that's only without charge addons, and franklins just does the job better especially if you're on a killer that doesn't have a big tr.

I'm saying you use expressions in ways most don't use. Which makes communication harder for no reason.

Do you also think when someone says "x character is hot" that they mean their temperature is above the expected level?

Or is it specific to this for some reason?

you're throwing out blatantly obvious "no" questions that you already know the answer to in order to try and embarrass me, which, like I said earlier: let's not. this is getting childish and we should end the conversation here.

Let me be as clear as possible here.

    You said

    unpopular =/= low pick rate.

And ALL I'm trying to say, from the start, is that people use those sinonimously, so in fact

    unpopular = low pick rate

    And

    Popular = high pick rate

Be it globally or locally in their games. That is how people use the terms.

    That is all

because other people use the terms synonymously doesn't mean i have to. i do not think they mean the same thing in this scenario, and i don't much care that other people disagree, especially since it's such a weird thing to be fussy over, to the point where i really don't care. the only reason i'm here right now is you've been claiming i'm wrong but whilst doing so have gotten what i've been saying wrong numerous times only just now got what i was saying actually correct so we've been having this pointless semantics back and forth that's irrelevant to the topic and is just embarrassing to continue. let's not.

Does everyone remember how the stats for Dead Hard used to work, where the usage was almost 75% at top MMR, but it was drastically lower at average MMR? A perk can be overpowered at high MMR, but not as good at average MMR.

Made for this might be in a similar situation. I personally see Made for this more often than any other exhaustion perk, and this is a true statement regardless of whether or not it Lithe is more popular when the entire DBD population is combined together.

seeing this graph again activated my fight or flight response. it is maddening.

The point. Is that "popular" and "unpopular" are used sinonimously with "used a lot" and "not used much".

But you seem to not realize it

i still did not say "used a lot" and "not used much". my words are in front of you, and you keep getting them wrong. it's honestly a little tiring...

something can be unpopular and low picked

    wanna try again?

my comparison was between unpopular and low picked, not popular and unpopular. you... missed the point of my comment entirely if you think i was having a discussion about popular and unpopular

  • yeesh. i can at least somewhat empathize with survivors not wanting to playing with a bot at 5 gens but idk about dc'ing that's a little much. i guess they made the right decision with how this guy started playing, lol.

thankfully the only time this has happened to me the spirit let me go (out of pity) and didn't do ######### like this. like, the guy didn't even just hook you, they bled you on the ground. the nerve, damn, if the guy wanted to win so badly why not take the free hook stages you were giving him... silly mentality in these replies are missing the point

showing all community also means showing people who don't even own the perk.

5 of the perks belong to the 4 base survivors and 2 are free perks. they are bound to be pushed up on these.

and the perk wasn't in the game for half of the time this covers, do you really expect it's average use to not suffer from that?

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3504363#Comment_3504363

    ok... how does

    unpopular =/= low pick rate.

    ?

something can not be popular in your matches, but still be a used perk. like, i don't see self care hardly in my matches, but it's top 10 here. personal experience is different than general dbd experience, as this listing counts for every game ever in this time frame.

something can be unpopular and low picked, but this is clearly not the case for mft, which is why nobody is making this claim, as it clearly doesn't have a low pick rate overall...

of course, but claiming it has a low pick rate is a stretch, especially based off of data where it didnt exist for half the duration.

the person you replied to didn't claim it was low pick rate. the closest that i could find to them saying this is that mft is unpopular. which, to them, might genuinely be true in their matches.

    unpopular =/= low pick rate.

although, i do expect prove thyself to lower out of top 10. maybe mft replaces it in top 10, i do not know. all i'm saying is nightlight's not a reliable narrator with how much mft is used, it can easily be skewed by bad actors. you cannot put down bhvr's stats with one hand and raise nightlight with the other as they have very different results for a reason

  • nightlight is self submitted though. so it's not nearly as good as an indicator of what's used as what bhvr would have.

  • as someone who has seen what my dad looks like without beard and mustache after he keeps it for years and then shaves it, i can assure you this would look unbelievably cursed.

4 survivors using blast mine when you play a pop the weasel build is infuriating.

It is as boring as, when you play survivor, to deal with Jolt - POR - Eruption combo.

Also the problem is not Blast Mine only, it is the synergie the survivors bring in SWFs. They stack boring perks and it feels toxic when you have to deal with a huge amount of impossible things to deal with.

the horrors! you go to kick your gen with pop but you have to endure a little stun to do it! man, you have my sympathies. must be traumatizing.

  • this discussion isn't this deep folks. just show the aura when you're within a certain range rather than anywhere or nowhere from the map. all we're asking is for a middle ground, not to gut sadako. she is too overwhelming for weaker players.

and don't give me the "oh but if you're worse you should lose!"

it's not that these are bad players, it's just they literally cannot find these tvs and would need to have where they are memorized or roughly memorized to find them, which not every player has the information to do. it's frustrating losing because players are deprived of information and the only way they can learn is from videos or trial and erroring until they finally have it memorized. it's a poorly thought out design, and should be slightly tweaked, especially since when it gets taken advantage of can literally kill the survivor with 0 hooks.

Not sure you understand the objective of playing killer. You're saying that they had a choice to fail, and you think it's awful that they decided against failing and go with succeeding in their objective, instead. You may as well also say that the survivor had a choice to go down near a hook instead of deciding to go down where the killer can't quickly fulfill their objective. Goes both ways - they are both players playing the game.

I've already responded to this kind of question earlier in the thread so I'll just paste my response again because you seem a little confused and think I'm mad at the Ghostface's decision (which I'm not).

"the killer has an easier way out in that scenario than the survivor does. the survivor crawl speed isn't very fast. obviously, not denying it's possible to crawl to a hook range before you bleed out. but i don't blame people for not bothering because crawling around isn't fun at all and i don't blame survivors for wanting to just watch a video and bleed out instead of bothering.

"one option is a lot less tedious than the other, and that's the killer just letting the survivor go. the survivor being asked to crawl to a hook is a valid thing to ask, but i can empathize with not caring enough to do so, so I'm not going to go off on someone for not doing it. just like i didn't go off on the Ghostface for not letting the survivor go, because i don't blame them either. my WHOLE grievance in this scenario was someone acting like the Ghostface was helpless in this scenario. not that the Ghostface was the bad guy in this scenario."

(please for the love of god don't semantics me and go "well you didn't explain against why the survivor didn't just run to the hook!!!! got ya!!!" it should be self explanatory why they didn't do that...they wanted to try and survive...)

...which ties into my next point -- you're being a little silly right now. The survivor could have had interest in using that to wiggle out and try to escape. (hatch was open). It seems you yourself don't understand the objective of the survivor, which is funny, because you say that I do not understand the objective of playing killer. It seems you don't understand the objective of the survivor is to try and survive, in which case, they used an attempt to wiggle out / killer having mercy as their way of escaping, which is the survivor just trying to fulfill their objective. As you humbly said -- "Goes both ways - they are both players playing the game." Both sides wanted the win, and only one got it, because of the choice the Ghostface made. And before you jump at me again, I already stated --

The Ghostface's choice was fine and fair given the situation.

I am simply just speaking to you because you're the one bringing up these points and I am responding to them.

Using bold text so hopefully you don't miss it this time.

pedantic isn't a name. it's an adjective to describe "giving too muchย attentionย toย formalย rulesย orย smallย details". like someone not specifying the implied part.

survivor mafia is new... at least to me. the obvious reason has nothing to do with it being survivor or killer sided. it's because it's incredibly obvious what the answer is. the survivor doesn't wanna give the kill for free, nor do they need to. it's the same for the killer and not wanting nor needing to give the escape for free.

the thread is actually about swf being awful people making the game not fun. something among those lines.

sorry that i didn't blame the survivor for getting bled out.

    never said you should.

but of course you have to assume that i did

    I didn't.

ย i didn't want to bash some stranger online after they had a boring match

weird... you are ok saying the ghostface made a choice there. but not the survivor? they both did, why would saying one bother you but not the other?

and i assumed i wouldn't get people jumping at my throat calling me survivor-favoured just by stating facts about how the ghostface could've just let the survivor go

I just pointed out your logic for saying the killer made a choice that would extend the game applies to the survivor aswell. don't really care if you are survivor or killer favoured. it's irrelevant.

    chill.

"pedantic isn't a name. it's an adjective to describe "giving too much attention to formal rules or small details". like someone not specifying the implied part."

And... I wasn't being pedantic, it was a legitimate misunderstanding, as I implied in the literal first line ("because god forbid you ever clarify what was said"). Comedically enough, now YOU'RE being pedantic over me using name instead of adjective, when I'm sure you knew what I meant, as it's very clearly not a name, as it's not capitalized, nor does it sound like a name. Don't act like you're perfect and have never misused a descriptor before. Jesus Christ...

"the thread is actually about swf being awful people making the game not fun. something among those lines."

Once again, you using my misphrasing as a "got ya". I meant the thread I was replying to, not the OVERALL thread. I'm well aware that this thread is irrelevant to the conversation.

"weird... you are ok saying the ghostface made a choice there. but not the survivor? they both did, why would saying one bother you but not the other?"

yes, because the killer has an easier way out in that scenario than the survivor does. the survivor crawl speed isn't very fast. obviously, not denying it's possible to crawl to a hook range before you bleed out. but i don't blame people for not bothering because crawling around isn't fun at all and i don't blame survivors for wanting to just watch a video and bleed out instead of bothering.

"I just pointed out your logic for saying the killer made a choice that would extend the game applies to the survivor aswell. don't really care if you are survivor or killer favoured. it's irrelevant."

and i've never ever disagreed with this. you're legit in agreeance with me but you're acting like we disagree. i know the survivor could have made it shorter. i never said that they couldn't.

you keep going on and on about my logic, but you don't seem to understand it, yourself. I would be grateful if you stopped acting like you know everything about what I'm saying, when you have no clue...

  • @Alice_pbg said:

if you wanna be pedantic about it... the killer has no choice if they wanted to be sure they get the kill.

    happy?

the survivor also had the choice to crawl closer to hooks if they wanted to end it sooner. but I'm not seeing anyone arguing for that, for obvious reasons.

but I guess the reasons for the killer to do what they are doing deserve to be fought against regardless of them being obvious aswell?

oh, cute. i'm "pedantic" because god forbid you ever clarify what was said without calling other people names. yikes.

and also as expected, some "you don't talk about the survivor side for obvious reasons" rhetoric as if i'm someone paid off by the survivor mafia or something.

I didn't talk about the survivor because it was the KILLER being discussed in this thread, not the survivor. sorry that i didn't blame the survivor for getting bled out. i didn't want to bash some stranger online after they had a boring match where they got bled out. it just felt it would be in poor taste, and i assumed i wouldn't get people jumping at my throat calling me survivor-favoured just by stating facts about how the ghostface could've just let the survivor go. I wasn't even harsh on the ghostface player and I even said I've done this myself because i've been in this scenario before. This whole post you've replied to me with is complete and utter insulting nonsense, and it feels you've almost completely misinterpreted what I wrote on purpose just to go "survivors bad". Not cool, mate.

In that situation, there's nothing the killer CAN really do. One of the downsides to hooks going away after being used. If the killer picks them up, they just wiggle out and might find hatch or run out of an open gate. Typically, survivors will run to a hook deadzone and go, "Ha, now you HAVE to pick me up and I get to wiggle out!" then get a surprised Pikachu face when the killer just leaves them slugged - that's on the survivor for running to a deadzone. However, in rarer cases, the survivor also didn't really have a choice - they were at an exit gate trying to escape without hooks nearby. The killer has zero options, and the survivor has to lie and wait it out. That being said, it's more often than not a situation of survivors trying to force a wiggle out by going to a deadzone. The situation here would happen a lot more rarely - the chances of literally having no hooks at the exit objective. That's some seriously bad luck. That's on BHVR making hooks go away - not the killer.

They could've just let the survivor go and it'd waste less time. Hatch was open, gate was right there. Instead, they chose the bleedout route. I believe it is acceptable to be slightly annoyed at that. The killer wasn't hopeless, and I have no clue why you're acting like they were. They are fully allowed to bleed out the survivor and get the kill, obviously, i've done it before myself. i'm not here to play 20 questions on some random ghostface player on why they did it because it is just a game at the end of the day, but there wasn't "nothing they could do". They willingly made a choice whether to kill or spare the survivor.

Actually it was allowed but was nerfed in 4.3.0 patch.

So the bug was that it got reverted back. So I still stand by asking for them to revert it back from 4.3.0 patch, mate.

they clearly don't want it in the game if they're removing it whenever it shows up again... you're just wasting your time man. better to use your time coping that it'll bug itself again than hoping they revert it because it isn't going to happen as they've clearly shown it's an unwanted bug.

So instead of reverting it back, I now suggest allowing HL to work on Doctor and Pig traps skill checks.

they're not going to fix a bug just to add it back, mate. it's time to let go.

  • ...i'm pretty speechless for this tbh. HL getting a bugfix isn't a pig nerf. a playstyle of hers got nerfed yes, but pig herself wasn't touched. this isn't a "hey, screw pig players" this is "hey let's fix this bug". that's why it was listed in the bugfix patch, mate...

So does slugging for the 4k. It allows the killer to look for the last survivor.

Denying the opponent an advantageous gamestate by not finishing a certain action seems to be fine for survivors (not opening gate to delay egc) while its bad when killers do it ( not hooking to delay hatch).

    Love this community bias.

why are you making what they said into an killers vs survivors thing? all they were stating that 99ing gates has strategic value for survivors. do you even know if this person disagrees with you on this subject or did you just go on a random tangent on some person who was just... explaining a mechanic has strategy for survivors?

I believe the EGC should be neutral. There shouldn't be an element to help either side. Now that there's a perk that let's survivors prolong the timer not only risk free, but gain the benefit of being able to heal to full by doing so as well as giving their team relief from the timer to heal with far less pressure, it's time for the EGC to become a permanently fixed time.

And, like I already explained, I disagree, and think your change would not make egc neutral.

  • doing this would undeniably help killers get kills as the timer would give survivors less time to save teammates without error when their teammate's status changes. you're trying to play the "killers don't get anything for this so survivors shouldn't either" game but this ain't it.

i do not think this will be some super omega killer sided change (before killer players jump me) but i feel acting like this will benefit neither side just because this change would make it be less survivor sided is silly.

also, personal opinion, making kills easier in endgame sounds really boring. if the survivors played around plot twist to get time for their team to heal, good on them. encouragement for teams to do something with the egc time that isn't just immediately leave is a healthy thing for the game, imo. it can lead to more kills for killer due to altruism or it could lead to trades (more points for hooking, who doesn't love points?!) or a teammate got out that otherwise wouldn't have if the timer didn't slow down because the other side played well.

removing this feature encourages instead for people to not try to get their teammate who got downed as often because they have less time, and for killers to not go for outside chases because survivors already would have a low margin of error in egc, there really wouldn't be any reason not to just facecamp a survivor and force trades as it'd be extremely beneficial for the killer to stay and not beneficial for the survivors to stay as the survivors wouldn't get much out of it, making the survivors just leave and ignore altruism. i cannot see why anyone but a killer only player would want this change to be in the game. such an unhealthy thing to encourage egc to be made more boring.

while slowed down egc does hurt killers (i know, i get it, especially if you've had a bad match) it ultimately is the less of two evils as it makes killers have to play smarter on what they should do especially when they have a survivor downed/hooked, at this moment facecamping is less powerful (especially with hookgrabs gone) so it gives more chance of survivor and killer interaction which is good overall for the game, killers just helplessly facecamping in egc is something to avoid (although is very understandable to do, because what else are you going to do?). having killers be put in a scenario where they can use good gamesense and get a ton of altruism kills feels very rewarding and very good on the killer side, and it would be a shame if that was encouraged less by an overall shorter timer making survivors leave more often. i consider myself decent on killer and i have turned the tides a LOT in egc with decent gamesense and it's awesome, which is why i wholeheartedly disagree with this suggestion.

  • surely this is just bait... right?....right???

I don't have to believe that phobias are uncommon, I'd have to believe that people give up at an alarming rate, and a lot of it is obviously because they have a problem with something they saw. Of all the hookicides I've seen in my time play, there is none that I can evidently recognize as being anything but "I want out of this game because I don't like it". Survivor goes down in chase in 10s? Hookicide. Survivor is playing against Twins/Pinhead/Legion/Nurse/Blight/Spirit? Hookicide. Survivor didn't see 3 gens pop after looping the killer for 30s? Hookicide. Survivor sees a teammate doing a chest/totem? Hookicide.

    not every killer is nurse.

surely it can't be as boring as going against pigs and doctors using this so i think we'll all be okay!!!

  • as much as i want this we need to consider the console bros. i'm running out of "it is what it is" at this point my disappointment is off the charts thinking about how cool this could be but it'll never be real

Your passive aggressive tone probably had something with your post being deleted. Respect is a two-way street.

Video games aren't essential to survive, and if someone with a disability is ruining games for people because of it, maybe they shouldn't run that risk until BHVR introduces more accessibility features (which I'm all in favor for). But again, your disability isn't a golden ticket in my book. At the end of the day, I'm trying to play the game too, and I couldn't care less as to WHY you left the game, I just look at the bottom line.

But let's say we give any people with a disability carte blanche to hookicide at will, how many people do you think that is compared to how many hookicides occur? I'd be willing to wager it's a fraction of a percent.

I don't even remember what I posted, but I've had posts here deleted for dumber things than just being passive aggressive so that wouldn't surprise me.

"how many people do you think that is compared to how many hookicides occur? I'd be willing to wager it's a fraction of a percent."

I doubt it's under a percent. To say such things, you'd have to believe that things such as photosensitivity and phobias are EXTREMELY uncommon, which I think is pretty baseless.

Let's give a hypothetical and say the percentage was truly that small. I still wouldn't agree with the jist of going that just because it's a small percentage, more than likely this person is just trying to grief everyone else and they should've just eaten the penalty. You just don't know these things. I personally just assume that there was a reason why it happened and I move on with my life. But I don't expect you and I to see eye to eye on that opinion as you've admitted you bleed people out for doing this (claiming it's justice which is hilarious, I can guarantee you most survivors do not see that as justice, it's a video game Superman, breathe), so I don't much care for this topic as I know neither of us will agree on it.

Something is either badly designed or it isn't. If they are stating they are then they need to explain why that is an objective fashion instead of just saying something like "Dull merchant is mindblowing that the devs wouldn't understand what people would do with this killer and how unfun it would turn out." that says nothing about the killer's design and instead is just a shot at the devs.

They call Sadako bad design because she plays differently than other killers. Since when is variety bad design? If every killer played the exact same I would get pretty bored. I think most people would.

They call Singularity bad design because he is hard to play and has counterplay. Neither of which are actually anything to do with bad design.

Something that was badly designed in this game was old Thanatophobia. Back when it used to slow down healing speeds in addition to the others. Or old Eruption that damaged gens AND incapacitated survivors. Things that literally stacked with themselves to make their effects stronger. That is what bad design is. None of this crap

"If they are stating they are then they need to explain why that is an objective fashion"

No, mate. There's no "need" to be objective in expressing dissatisfaction with the recent chapters. That is just... false. You can ASK for an objective perspective, but other people don't NEED to give you one just because they said something you didn't like.

  • honestly, ######### depipping in general. so many matches i've depipped for where i just felt helpless in on both sides.

now that grades are quite literally just a bloodpoint reward on the 13th of every month that other people don't even see unless they're literally looking at your screen i feel this is a bare minimum change.

  • you truly can just be existing and vibing and you'll be viewed as useless by one of your teammates eventually. then this player will just rat you out for personal gratification because they "owned" their "useless" teammate. i don't personally get why people do it, myself, really. seems like a very miserable dbd experience enjoying ruining other people's matches. i've had grievances with my teammates before but never of that caliber. they should add a deep breaths exercise mandatory in between matches with how some people be acting fr.

I'm not missing any point. The DC bots weren't added so people could d/c. They were added so if something happened and there was a d/c. the rest of the survivors don't get completely screwed over.

And frankly if you find yourself d/cing or raging out of games, you should just take a break and stop playing.

once again, nobody's stating the dc bots were added so people could dc. you're once again, seemingly intentionally missing the point just to go on a tangent about other people dc'ing. the point of the bots is to fill in when someone disconnects from the match. i'm not encouraging people to dc, nor is the system encouraging people to dc. it is, quite literally, the less of two evils, and that's all it is, and i would rather the system favour people dc'ing than people hookiciding, as it would lead to a less unenjoyable match. you're allowed to disagree with that, but that doesn't mean you aren't missing the point. you quite definitely are, because you're continuing to talk about points no one has said, nor supported.

  • @Crowman said:

The bots are not an excuse to dc. Their existence does not mean people should disconnect.

you're missing the point. increasing the dc penalty results in more people hookiciding rather than eating a dc and are going to leave their team without a dc bot. sure, you don't WANT people dc'ing, but if someone wants out of a match i'd rather dc'ing be more their thing than hookiciding. upping the dc penalty is a lose lose situation especially considering anyone can find ANYTHING uninteresting in this game, because everyone has different definitions of fun, and would LOVE to stand under a hook if they don't get their hookicide, if anything i'm glad people are saying they'll dc instead of hookicide if the change was reverted.

  • giggling rn because apparently my post was in the wrong and got deleted but here we have Joe Shmoe demanding people dc and take a penalty if they're having problems related to disability/accessibility mid match and that's okay, yes, tell people to prioritize dc'ing in a videogame before they go take care of themselves. it's always so funny how it's all sunshine and rainbows and "please have empathy and sympathy for your team!!!" until people with disabilities and accessibility issues are brought up, then it's "well screw that guy who is standing still right now must be an inconsiderate evil person". please be trolling!!!

how about let's fix accessibility issue killers before we blame the people affected by them? blaming the people affected isn't cute and is honestly really disgusting and i think this thread has definitely crossed a line from "ok hookicides are annoying" to "how can we antagonize people already struggling today?"

You didn't give any objective reasons that they are bad other than to say you personally don't like how they are designed.

"I expressed why i think they are badly designed. If you think i am wrong, be free to give arguments to the contrary."

They are clearly stating they're using their opinion here, but instead you're resaying this point as if it's some sort of new found information.

If you disagree with it, like they said, give arguments to the contrary. Why rely on "haha you used your OPINION on a FORUM thread. owned." it's giving big childish vibes.

I get that but survivors are just skins, you can even legitimately get killer skins that change their sounds but those are not banned. Its how they do it and its their rules etc. However, I still think its a bit much literally banning what is basically a skin.

well i can't do anything about it and i didn't make the rule so...

  • i do agree the price of the microtransactions is giving f2p game vibes but i don't think free to play is the way to go, i don't want to tempt the possibility of a cheater resurgence it really isn't that worth it imho
