It's not uneducated, it's simply stating what the majority of people "thought". Also, I have severe light sensitivity and I'm not saying we deal with it the same way, but even with all the macros that I went against, I never once had someone do it while facing the beamer towards me. They always did it for the sound. You can't deny overall it'd have been better for all light sensitivty to simply have the screen dim instead of brighten drastically to avoid the light sensitivity overall. Instead it removed the ability to use them for interactive movement.
Either way, the point of the thread was to show what had happen and based on the ridiculous amount of forum posts - twitter - reddit the average opinion about the situation. It doesn't mean that it was right or wrong, just the AVERAGE overall opinion. I'm all about accessibility and I don't care about the sound being removed, it just felt like a solution that was more of a band aid when a "dark mode" could be used to solve more than just BEAMERS, but also, things like Doctors effects, the killer rapidly flicking their camera and the red stain making me physically nauseated, etc.

Sure, but you can't deny that all this will do is punish hag players that don't just play for basement. I cannot exaggerate more, how bad I am at Hag and nobody could win against me on PTB, because they were unable to remove traps fast enough, but if I played normally? Easily destroyed my web, no issues, because it wasn't JUST beamers that could do it now, you know?
As for Wraith, I feel he is punished the most and a diminishing returns would have been nice, but removing it entirely feels terrible. I'd say perhaps make it just so it doesn't reveal traps when the beamer is shown on them, only if you directly aim at them, you can burn them would have been healthier. Now there is no way for a hag to even use Franklins to protect from a whole team deleting their traps.

Overall, the majority of people that played both sides from what I read were not happy about another mechanic being removed. Killer mains, thrilled. Survivor mains, pretty annoyed. Both sides gamers were mostly like, "did it have to be completely removed, it was just another mechanic taken away". I should clarify, when talking about this, locker saves were definitely among the "higher skill" techniques, so of course most lower skilled survivors didn't have a huge opinion, because they didn't know how to do it...yet. It was something to come back to the game and practice / get better at. In the end, this wasn't to defend locker saves, just to show how they've been changed ANOTHER way and it was another mechanic that just got deleted instead of reworked / adjusted, etc.
"You can't deny overall it'd have been better for all light sensitivty to simply have the screen dim instead of brighten drastically to avoid the light sensitivity overall. Instead it removed the ability to use them for interactive movement."
Yes, yes I can. Removing the ability to macro and/or spam click has overall been a benefit for me and I don't want what they have to change as they already have a good system that works. Why should we change a system that works into a system that works less? It just doesn't make sense. Oh, for movement clicking? I'm going to be honest... I don't really give a ######### about movement clicking? Like no offense, but I can't in good faith agree to making a worse accessibility option just for something I don't care about. Sorry. They should just make a separate change that goes into Doctor and Red Stains and whatever you said because like I said... don't remove something that already works just for ... "movement clicking". Maybe some things should just stay in the past for the game to move forward because i'd take accessibility any day than clicky clicky strobe lights from survivors. The light AND the noise were annoying. The delay fixed that. I just can't get behind bringing back either or, even dimmed or muted, they should just stay gone.

imagine new players getting punished for losing by having higher* mmr and making their matches unwinnable lmao... anyone can bluff themselves to high mmr, just like how good players can manually lower their mmr to have easier matches

Dead hard and CoH made killer an "unbearable" experience, and dead hard in particular has been around for years. When they did finally deign to nerf them, they gave them both the lightest possible slap on the wrist. Dead hard's activation condition now means that you're absolutely still going to see a lot of it in games, and CoH's speed buff, along with the fact that healing speeds weren't touched means that survivors are still going to be able to delete injuries like they're nothing. I don't think the devs actually care about what is or isn't unhealthy or miserable to play against, they just care about what pissess off survivors the most, since they're the ones buying the most cosmetics.
If the devs actually cared about what was or wasn't healthy then pop and thana and ruin and corrupt would have never gotten nerfed, but here we are.
Deadlock is a totally fine perk. There's nothing wrong with it. That doesn't matter. Killers are going to start running it more which means survivors will see it in more games, which means that it'll suddenly become "oppressive". Hell, you can see people making the arguments for a nerf already. It's "not interactive" and its slowdown "isn't earned", because absolutely every single thing killers have absolutely needs to have some sort of counterplay. God forbid killers every have something that's just strong, that can force survivors into a tough spot. The same thing's going to happen to jolt by the way, mark my words, and once those two get nerfed, I don't know, I imagine plaything/pentimento will be up next on the chopping block.
Do people actually think CoH is still going to be used that commonly? It's mostly only going to be used in swfs. You cannot communicate to randos about going to the boon unless you have aura reading on them... and swfs are a minority of players.
Sure, healspeeds in swfs might go up, but I'm going to be honest, I run thrill of the hunt and i feel that discourages solo booners enough, new CoH isn't worth the time efficiency unless it's a swf lol, and if it's a swf odds are I lose anyways unless they're altruistic so i don't really care.
Also, why do people keep whining about the corrupt nerf on the forums, I don't get it? Sure, it deactivates after a down but if you deactivate it that means you got a quick down, which is a lot of pressure already. People think having the whole 90s PLUS getting a quick down is healthy, y'all are wild. With new corrupt you get to pick either quick down or full 90s and it makes the killer have to think (crazy thought) about what they want more. I'd argue the decision making of corrupt makes it more fun to use and play against, so I see it as a win-win. Do people really still cry over its nerf when it's still a good perk? Weird.

Dredge is probably the worst thing that came to DBD, which is unfortunate as his power makes sense in a horror setting.
His nightfall power is a major accessibility hazard (the overwhelming crying noises and narrow sighting can make people uncomfortable/unwell) and he's a major noobstomper to the point where if I was a new player I'd be sure he was overpowered because of the near complete lack of ability to find loops. Even noobs can accidentally mindgame a nurse, but how the ######### do people expect new players to play around and learn loops they cannot even see? I pray for a rework and to give him something other than nightfall as it'd be healthier for the game overall to not have just "haha you can't see loop" killers, but I know it'll never happen, because everyone seems to love Dredge and even wants his nightfall BUFFED, which I don't disagree with as nightfall is weak outside of new players but... still :(

You do realize that I have a vision-impairment that makes red very difficult for me to see right?
Sometimes it can be difficult for me to distinguish the red power-gage from the environment, so I basically have to fight with the camera just to see what progress I have, which can completely take-away from the chase and mess things up completely.
So please, so not jump to conclusions of "it's a skill issue" when it is something that is inherently out of my control (DBD's color-blind settings do not help much, trust me, Ive tried).
Plus again, it's free Quality of Life, I dont see the point in not wanting free Quality of Life.
No, people didn't realize that because you didn't state that. If you wanted the conversation to be about accommodating you for having a vision impairment, you should've listed it... we can't mind read. Of course they could've been less snippy about it, but you need to understand... their concerns do come from a logical point. It isn't hard to 99 for an average player. Your vision impairments change the conversation entirely.

Wow you did a really well thought out mindgame and then you demo shred/Blight rush/Hillbilly sprint resulting in what would usually be a hit. Oops too bad you got crouch teched completely nullifying your outplay. Crouch tech is not healthy for the game at all and it feels horrible to play against. "bUt It AdDs DePtH tO cHaSE wItH mOrE cOuNtErPlAy." No it doesn't, I would love if a dev would comment whether or not this is an intended mechanic or not because having your correct outplay completely nullified by simply crouching does not feel good at all.
how do you suggest removing crouchteching though? because I really feel most ways of getting rid of crouchtech messes with crouching to dodge nemesis and as a petty mf i don't want nemesis players to have anything. blight and billy players don't deserve crouchtech though... maybe demo does though.

"if a survivor is dead on hook, he instantly dies with a hit instead of entering dying state."
because that totally won't get people to go after the person dead on hook more. wait out 10s to get a kill on the survivor with nothing scaring you? yeah idk on "small buff to killer" lmao. maybe we have a language barrier and small means noticeable tunneling buff but otherwise idk what you mean by small.

It's like saying removing camping would invalidate terriotial imperative, except I would argue an early """""KOBE"""" is far worse than a camping killer.
Too many people on these forums try to defend this "mechanic" especially the older players it seems.
I don't want people to leave me in a 3v1 as a survivor and I don't want to be in 3v1 as killer it's just boring/work to me.
You want to leave or have consistent internet problems? Eat the dc or don't play.
No, no, no. You're using a bad comparison. Territorial Imperative doesn't only work for a killer who is camping. Luck offerings/Perks and self unhook perks would legitimately get invalidated once self unhooking is removed, as they would legitimately be useless without reworks. If camping was removed, nothing would happen with Territorial because no one uses it.
-
I dunno, I disagree on DS giving free escapes in endgame. With Deli and base bt you could've escaped if you played your cards right but I'm guessing you got your basekit bt blocked and got no ds stun and went back on hook (the game is already over, tunneling isn't really the term here, do you expect the killer who got no pressure all game to go for an entirely different survivor? makes no sense) you could've forced base bt by vaulting and got the speed boost and tried something with it or maybe if you cared about escaping that bad you could've just not saved. idk. the killer punished your altruism. seemed like a good play from their part.

I'm genuinely confused. Are you guys saying a 5k hour swf as a total play time between the 4 is a lot? Or are you saying it's a 20k hours swf?
Either way the first one is easily insignificant to me and is beyond common. Hours mean nothing in this game as well. People weigh hours in this game wayyy too much when it really isn't that hard.
DBD is quite literally the only game I have seen where even the content creators are going off hours to such a dumb extenet. The highest hour players in league are bronze, it means nothing.
I guess I get there is no real ranking system, but even mentioning it puts you at a disadvantage in argument.
i genuinely don't care about this argument anymore because the other person was trolling. if you're genuinely curious, ask them instead.

The problem is not punishing proxy camping, but rewarding greedy survivor. Survivors should feel the urge to save from the hook, and reassurance make survivor feel more confortable to leave a save to the last second possible, as they can do it when they can. If even with Reassurance the hook would go to the second stage, at least the would feel pressured to do the save soon, as it can be too late if they do any other thing while the hook bar drains.
You have to understand, the survivor has to go RIGHT UP to the hook in order to use the perk, where you can get an m1 on the survivor pretty easily... unless you're not paying attention...
Regardless, I think punishing proxy camping is better for the game overall than slightly nerfing greedy swfs that make up a very small minority of the matches people face. Balancing around people playing super efficiently is an awful idea, as most matches aren't sweat fests, and nerfing reassurance will overall affect the non sweaty playerbase than it will affect the sweaty one, and while reassurance is a good perk, it's not super used in solo/duo queue (majority of the playerbase). Shrug.
-
That's what reassurance is supposed to do. It's to punish (proxy)camping killers. I know it feels bad to go against when you just want to secure a stage, but like you mentioned, when you see reassurance you need to go do something else or you are wasting your own time, because that's the point of the perk. If you're to the point in the match survivors are greeding to do gens and leaving the survivor on hook you need to get downs/injures for pressure, regardless if reassurance is used or not, if you truly care about getting more than a 1-2k. If you just want the 1-2k I don't see how nerfing reassurance fixes that issue, as you can still camp the survivor to death, it just takes longer and is more risky as the team can last-second double save (but once again, they could do that regardless of reassurance).

I don't know. Me personally I'm glad the clicking got removed as I am photosensitive (and the beam clicking actually made me feel unwell). I do not care what the majority of the dbd playerbase thinks, because the majority of the playerbase doesn't have photosensitivity. It's not the "being blinded" as killer (although other photosensitive people can have issues with that too), it was the constant flashlight clicking giving visual overstimulation for survivor and killer. Seeing the flashing lights makes me not feel well. Sure, you can't do your funny trick anymore but you have to understand the change legit helps photosensitive people and the change was a necessary evil. A "dark mode" doesn't fix this stuff as well as the flashlight buffer does. I sure hope you're not implying you think your funny trick has priority over accessibility, as that'd be a hot take and a half.
"so it definitely felt among most that this change was truly for hiding the macro sound, and not actually to solve anything with light sensitivity."
What an uneducated thing to say. Shame on you for spreading other people's nonsense. Don't listen to the majority when talking about the minority. In my opinion, the issue has been resolved and doesn't need to be changed. I'm sure it sucks for people who love survivor movement, but like I said, it's a necessary evil to help people like me.

Corrupt Intervention and Deadlock isn't a horrible idea. Since a lot of gen regression is getting nerfed. Nice passive slowdown that won't make the game go too fast.

I don't understand why people dislike playing vs wraith, killer is too easy to play against and there is no 0 counter play tiles other than very very bad filler tiles like ormond picnic table pallet.
At any decent pallet it's simply your fault if you get hit out of his power, it just doesn't make sense to me.
A ton of the wraiths I go against play hit and run or are babies. There's no in between. Either the game is boring because of hit and run or it's boring because I'm just pubstomping a baby wraith who I shouldn't even be queued against. I love playing wraith, he just isn't a killer who is fun to go against.
-
I do think his main event should be able to be held. Not sure why it isn't, it's hardly stronger or even that comparable to Oni's power. Don't think I want him to be 115% though. But if there's any improvement to his chase potential they'll either make him 115%, give more knives, or lower his laceration required by 1i'd have to presume so i guess it's not terribly out of the picture... shrug
-
the event challenges for cankers still exist, and someone can spawn them in if they still have the challenge. it's possible that this is the case, unless you were in 4 man and can confirm no one brought the challenge, if that's the case then i have no damn clue.

i'm genuinely surprised it hasn't been killswitched when it's known to be bugged. it's not even the weekend so they could've killswitched it this week. genuinely strange why they allow a bugged perk to be continued to be used. they killswitched inner healing and wake up when they were super bugged but for merciless storm it's radio silence. not even implying they're killer sided with these killswitches, it's just inconsistent and makes no sense why they allow it to be continued to be used.

That just tells me you are not playing good survivors.Meeting at least one one 5 k hour surv happens in half my games.A full squad, that is also a swf with that many hours is a bit rarer indeed, but saying you don't meet good players is a narrow minded argument.
Regarding your kill when the game is half over, again idk what survivors are you playing but getting a hook at 3 gens,or having 2 gens pop after your first hook is excepted performance for every killer but the big 3.That's already almost half the game, thats why your next best move is to tunnel, and hope to bring the game back at one gen.
Regarding teams being better than them and losing without tunneling. If you play killer for long enough, and sometimes play weak killers with memey builds, you will encounter average teams,of mediocre players, that would have clearly gotten destroyed if you went into the match prepared(strong killer and build) and yet despite the skill diference, due to the confines of your character, bad map etc you end up losing or having a really close game to a team outside of your skill range.
I would also like to mention that employing the right strategy,at the right time is the difference between an above average player and a great one.If a survivor drops a strong pallet, there is only so much you can do with legion to down them regardless of how good you are, however taking smart chases and punishing bad decisions made by survivors by tunneling and camping at opportune moments are the mark of a great player, its the true skill expression m1 killers have.
oh ok you're trolling or very new

Show me a game of you beating 5k hour swf without tunneling or camping. The game simply isn't balanced around having 4 survivors for over half the match, and keep in mind generators can reasonably be repaired in 5 minutes,so you absolutely need to tunnel someone out of the game if you want to win.The only exception is playing blight/nurse and being matched against terrible players that lose the chase in 5 seconds.(even the BEST wraith in the world, controlled by an AI if you will that plays perfectly will not be able to 12 hook a remotely DECENT team on Garden of Joy for example)
did you really just use an example of a 5k hour swf that hardly anyone ever goes against? you do realize those god swfs are in such a minority that twins players are more common, right? why on earth would you use a god swf as an example unless you're trolling?
"the game simply isn't balanced around having 4 survivors for over half the match"
??? do you commonly not have a kill by the time the game's half over? maybe it's not a case of you NEED to tunnel/camp to get a kill, consistently not having even 1 kill by the time the game's half over is kinda telling. i refuse to believe half of the people here consistently go against survivor teams that are just so much noticeably better than them they have no chance of winning against without camping or tunneling for the majority of their matches. refer to my earlier point: i beg that you're trolling.

flashlights are getting nerfed next patch as they don't mess with wraith, nurse, and hag anymore. flashlights after midchapter are pretty much only good for flashy saves. probably explains the uptick. i've been noticing more medkits myself and those are getting nerfed too. may as well use things while they're stronger i guess, lol.

Perks... We All Got Some... Or At Least I Would Hope So...
DBD has a hundreds of perks, and while there are definitely perks that are going to be in the meta, Id like to see what are some "niche" or "underrated" perks the community likes to use from time to time.
For me, Id have to say (for Killer) it would be Mad Grit, Forced Penance, and/or Dark Devotion; and (for Survivor) Self Preservation, Hope, and For The People.
(Also yes I did use the image you see on Developer Updates for this... what can I say, it fits extremely well for the topic, and it fits across the text-box perfectly. I hope BHVR does not mind me using it.)
for me i like hope (i use it in pretty much every build) and i've been running a lot of aftercare recently for an aura reading perk (i got bored of an only self centered build) and it's honestly been pretty nice for my solo queue games, and it's less terrifying than bond because i can opt into getting the aura reading instead of seeing meg in the basement looting the chest unprompted

Characters i would want to be not changed: kate, jane, yun jin, zarina, adam, elodie, and felix, ace
characters i would be fine with: dwight meg claudette jake feng nea yui jonah jeff haddie mikaela
the last 3 survivors i dont like or care about so idk about them.
anyways what are your thoughts?
Yui is def my pick. Would be so happy if she got the representation although I would be so sad if that made her get less cosmetics as a result. David's cosmetic pool has gotten dryer than usual and it's a little suspicious.

Hmm, I see, but what about Boons Like Circle of Healing? And also, I don't find it fair that survivors can put up an endless amount of boons while the killer gets a luck of the draw for their hex. There might be something I'm overlooking, but you're right overall. It just seems like Boon can be more powerful than Hexes at times.
I genuinely believe nerfed CoH will be brought a lot less as the whole self healing aspect has been removed from it. The unlimited self healing was CoH's main usage tbh. Maybe in swf's CoH will still be a problem as they have comms and 100% healspeed but that's really all I can think of? In solo/duo queue which is most of what survivors play, it will see a lot less usage because it kinda sucks without communication. Although, ig that's just my opinion, I stopped using CoH forever ago and switched to medkits lol and I bring thrill of the hunt to bore booners

Big idea, but make Shattered Hope Base kit. Not the aura reading, just the destroying of totems, and change shattered hope to be this: You see the auras of Boon totems within the trial, after snuffing out the Boon, the totem remains and the auras of all survivors are revealed for 10ish seconds. This makes the perk useful more than 5 times, and destroying totems being base kit feels fairer in my opinion(You can't reignite a hex as killer, but survivors can use boons on the same totem over and over again).
Tell me what you think!
interesting, but most of the boons are pretty weak. i feel they need to make boons a bit stronger if they're going to give shattered hope basekit. dark theory for example isn't really worth the perk slot if it takes that much time to set up, only for the totem to be permanently smashed, therefore you have to go hunting again, even coh's starting to get to that point. coh isn't BAD like dark theory bad but it'd become so much worse if shattered became basekit. with coh you already need a teammate to help you with coh with its new nerfs. i think encouraging people not to use boons at all because they're too weak with shattered hope basekit and not worth the time to be put into isn't a really healthy solution to boons. bringing back coh a ton has already dealt with most of the boon problems as none were even close to coh's strength imho
