This map is riddled with god pallets and many windows that chain into other windows that make it impossible to catch up with any killer that sucks with movement speed.
Those were some of the cons for killer, hook spawns are stupid. It can result in either two survivors being right beside each other on hook resulting in the worst camping situation and getting a 3 gen is so easy.
With the hook spawns it is also terrible for killer as the hooks are either really close together or extremely far apart.
And while the map is not that large it feels extremely large due to the second floors of the houses
The second floors of the houses are absolutely pointless apart from the ONE house that has a 2F generator. There is literally no reason to go upstairs in any of the other ones. No gens, no chests and as far as I've seen no totems. I honestly don't know why they bothered.
I really don't like new Haddonfield. I appreciate old haddonfield was survivor sided but aesthetically and in terms of variety of map design it was far superior than the new one. I

Survivors complaining about killers = skill issue.
Killers complaining about survivors = game issue.
...
That about sums it up.

There are multiple perks to counter it. It's a legitimate part of the game, although I admit it sucks.
Running dead hard in its original version was a legitimate part of the game, but it was nerfed.
Just because its legitimate doesn't mean it shouldn't be reviewed.

Know why? Because there are so many more killers than survivors that they have to try and give an extra cake worth of BP to all survivors to try and incentivize people to play survivor to make up the difference. There's a reason for that. It's because killer has longer queue times because playing survivor right now is about the equivalent of cutting oneself. It's painful. Unpleasant. And as far from fun as one can get.
What do you mean? The game is SO survivor sided. There can't possibly be a shortage.
-
I seem to always get Gas Haven for some reason.
-
I've had so many instances lately where people are leaving me to die on the hook, from the first phase. Even when they haven't been hooked themselves. So that's making me reluctant to go for the save at the end game... cause I know if I get downed I'm gettin left behind..
-
I don't agree that the old system needs to return, but I do think the hatch needs reviewing, as it stands as they said they planned to do so when it was initially nerfed and never did.
The current system doesn't work as killers are finding it so quickly and keys are becoming pointless because you know if its closed its likely you won't find it.
I would make one of two changes, either:
Base kit left behind for CLOSED hatches only - the hatch is highlighted in red when the survivor comes within 'x' metres of it after being closed by the killer.
Or;
Partial reversion to the old system; the hatch spawns when 'x' amount of generators have been completed, but the key only grants escape to one survivor.
-
It's a valid and approved technique
It's a skill issue
Git gud
And other killer favourite responses.
....
I'm being facetious not serious BTW, but there are equally repetitive playstyles ongoing on the other side that are provoking this.
-
I don't understand why the green key was ever in item boxes - maybe to give you an unfair bait when the hatch could spawn earlier.
Now the hatch has been nerfed so much, which imo should also be addressed like they said they were going to and never did, it should be removed from chests completely. It offers no value when found I'm match and it seems to have replaced other keys entirely for some reason.
-
There's also some clear cheating going on with killers and aura perks.

If they were actually not doing anything and not moving they would get crows and you would get a notification. Just because you can't find someone doesn't mean it's holding the game hostage.
Just imagine if you're a Survivor...where would you hide...the last place Killer would be looking for you - in this case...the Basement. You will have an easier time finding them.
They were getting in and out of the lockers; not rushed.
-
Yeah I never start the gen I spawn by. I always assume perks like Lethal and BBQ are in play and act accordingly.
-
I had a Yui hide in the basement of the garden of Joy and literally not move for the entire match. I held on as long as I could from first hook till sacrifice to get the killer to find her, but annoyingly they didn't go in the basement. They still got sacrificed but its just annoying as I was unhooking, healing and doing gens and they did nothing. Didn't even go for the hatch. Why play?
-
Legion would totally be a big old bowl of shredded wheat. Bland, repetitive taste and the bowl feels like its never going to end.
-
"The survivors got a free health state"
Dude, I literally used to wonder up to the killer and allow them to hit me. If they wanted to chase after that then fair enough. Many didn't.
It was a really fun event and I would love them to do it again. I want to be rolling round in a pumpkin this Halloween.
-
I'd like a buy all button.
Or even better, scrap the blood Web and bring over the blood market from the mobile version... which seems to have some really good ideas.
-
I think Springwood could do with a revamp. There are lots of variations of that map which is nice, but its looking very dated next to new Haddonfield. I'd like to see the school building being extended a bit and the surrounding area beefed up.
I'd also really like to see the actual Elm street house but don't know if it's licenced.
I'd like them to rework Hawkins as a NEST lab as part of the RE content. I used to dislike the map but it offered some much needed variety.
I also think the swamp maps need mixing up. I can't stand them.

in the nemesis intro, he throws Meg against the car, and Leon goes and checks her pulse and shakes his head BUT in the wesker intro, you'd kind of assume it picks off where it left, Meg is injured and being carried into rpd, so these animators or these writers better tell me right now what plot twist happened, Meg is totally about to become a tyrant
How do you explain survivors being sacrificed and still being alive?
The entity keeps them in a cycle of life and death across the trials to feed off them. The trailers just show that.

Those tactics are so common because they're the most reliable way to win.
If you didn't need to do them to win, people still would, because they like winning.
If you want to eliminate them, you have to make them unnecessary AND unviable.
This recent update has literally shown this: despite all their buffs killers left right and centre are saying they're still doing it because it was easy.
It was never about Dead Heard, in fact it was quite the reverse. As a long standing player survivor main there was a time when I hardly ever saw DH in my team, but before the nerf it was everywhere because camping and tunnelling increased. It was a toxic cycle, but yet DH got nerfed, killers got buffs and they still admit to camping and tunnelling. So, something needs to be done to level the field.
Camping and tunnelling might be an 'allowed and valid tactic' but so was every survivor bringing and using old DH to negate it. DH got nerfed so now it's Time to balance.

I use a lot of aura reading as a killer and i see these self carers quite often in a corner of a map...you know ill be going to them next.
They also ruin the game for others survivors when they are selfcaring 40+ seconds in a corner..even longer if against slobby. It might be realiable but sometimes its better to stay injured and not heal all the time. Imagine legion, are you going to self care every 20 seconds? If so you might as well roll over and surrender at that point.
As a survivor main, it doesn't really bother me. I'd much rather they bring CoH and we can all get some use out of it... but then you can argue they're wasting more time doing the boon + self heal. But at times I understand the need for it.
With how the game is now, the new playstyle tends to be that people don't heal anymore. They rescue then run off to do a gen and leave you to self heal or they run off to self heal. It only annoys me when I'm clearly waiting to heal them, at times with another survivor, and they ignore you and continue to self heal which takes twice as long as a double third party heal. Madness.

I do know someone who always runs it. It's painful to watch. They will use it the whole match. Only time they don't is when in chase with the killer.
So...how you're meant to use it? It's a stealth perk. People often wonder how the killer could possibly find them as if they don't go sprinting off across the map leaving scratch marks everywhere.

Somethings changed?

I'm running Kindred. Faced 6 Weskers, 5 of them have 'not camped' (dashed away and back endlessly to catch rescuers)

Dredge is the worst imo

All but 1/5 matches I've had today have had someone disconnect, whether survivor or killer DCing. At one point I thought they'd introduced an early DC match end as one guy DCd after the first one being downed and the match ended. It wouldn't surprise me if they broke something.

@BubbaIsJustVibin said:
I really like lucky break conceptually, but you as a survivor should waste the killer's time. If you just dissapear from a chase, that doesn't really happen. How should you use this perk, and with what perks, to be able to make it work without having a build completely centered around it?
Except you disappearing leaving the killer to search the immediate area for you does waste their time. I'm an average looper, honestly don't understand how people are so good at it. I enjoy lucky break for this fact especially if I can save it till near the end and jump in to take a hit for someone being end game tunnelled then disappear off.

Mute em and use ping system.
No because;
1/ having played Friday 13th before DBD it can be an absolute faff.
2/ BHVR would sign and seal it as a solution to all the soloq woes, despite the majority of people clearly not wanting to use it.
-
In the vast majority of matches I play the killer closes the hatch within about 5-10 seconds of it spawning. There are hardly ever keys in chests, if there are it is, for some unfathomable reason, a green one, which is pointless. The doors are often so close together you will never get them open if you're the last survivor. Many perks are now disabled in the EGC despite killers having NoEd which still activates when there is only one survivor left.
The EGC is not in any way shape or form survivor sided and based on what you have said you're already sitting on a 3k which is more than a win by BHVRs own perameters.

Killers.. from a fellow killer main.. please please please stop slugging and bleeding out the last 2 survivors for the 4k.. it’s really not that serious. 2 games in a row I had to sit through the bleed out timer because the killer couldn’t fathom not getting the 4k.
Just hook the third, and if the 4th gets hatch, they get hatch. It’s still a win. :)
Have fun and see you in the fog.
Only two? It's 99% of matches I make it to that stage at this point.

Have toxic idiots screaming at me because I'm not doing what they want when they want it? No thanks.

How many of yall stay after you die to watch and see if your team makes it? Just curious. Im one! 🙋♂️
I stay a lot - I also like to message people if I can if I think they're being done dirty. E.g. the other day I died on Midwich and the Billy was literally just running round carrying the Mikaela who refused to wiggle off. As such, the Nea was Trapped by the constant terror radius presence and not knowing what to do. There was 0.5 of a gen left, so I just gave her a little nudge to say she could probably go do the gen unmolested.
I also get a bit offended when Twitch streamers don't hang around to see how the team do. I enjoy their commentary.
-
I agree with the realm needing a rework.
But man I always seem to get the Pale Rose and I just cannot stand it. I always get it when I think about a match being my last one too. Its like the game is telepathic and thinks 'oh final trial is it? Here really funking hate every moment of that'.

Just wait till a swf takes you to eyrie with a coin and fog offering lol.
Off the back of this thread I tried the offering to moderately increase the fog and honestly I wasn't impressed. The moderately increased fog is still lesser than the standard fog of back in the day and the fact that is white rather than the darker colour is used to be doesn't really add any atmosphere apart from Mount Ormond where the white colour pallate fits.

Were survivors complaining about Corrupt that much that they had to nerf it to the ground!?
Just found out about it yesterday and i was quite shocked and immediately thought "baby survivors"!
Old Corrupt had counterplay, it was called wait out the killers Corrupt so you wont get 3 gen'ed. It was a staple perk for for killer because we had time to set up (Hag, Trapper and for slow killers like Pig) or to look for survivors now it disables once someone is hooked? Smh crazy!
Did they do this because of Lethal Pursuer, complaining survivors (as usual) or both?
Personally I would have rather seen a nerf of regression perk stacking than this. I've played against killers who have had a combined total of about 375% regression. One was a nurse who literally made it impossible to do two gens on the opposite side of the Chapel map. I understand killers need pressure but that's too much. We are getting gens regressing from 60% to legit next to nothing far too quickly. Corrupt was fine.
-
Wasn't fog always traditionally used to mask poor loading, pop in etc though? It seems like a better option to have for performance issues..
-
@Shroompy said:
because it just hurt the killers who didnt need to be hurt by it the most like Trapper, Pig, etc. While barely having an effect on high mobility killers like Nurse or Blight.
I think it should go to 4 seconds for a nice middle ground
I think killers should be tiered and certain perks should work differently in response: e.g. blight, nurse, spirit have a longer stun as they're 'fastest tier' whilst the likes of Michael in his bast stage have a lesser stun because they're 'slowest tier'. It would be far too much effort though.
-
The box respawn rate is fine. A good fix would be to make the great skill check zone smaller and make it so PH can't use his teleport/freeze move if you get the great skill check but he can if you miss it. At the moment no one is doing the box because its essentially a free down for him. You can say 'git gud at looping' all you want... but they've literally just made that harder too. The issue is no one wants to do the box and most matches just devolve into an endless chain hunt. Incentivize doing the box in a more balanced way and more people will.

Solos need better info for a bit teamwork thats about it.
And they need to gid gud a little.
Whenever i play survivor the second some one is hooked i notice the other 2 players drop what they are doing even with auras.
Like dude, chill, that dude has 60 seconds, theyll be fine. Do your gens.
But thats learned behaviour and most survivors lack it.
Way too inefficient.
I had a game with artist a few hours back that took 10 minute or so and 0 gens got done in the meanwhile. Thats entirely on them.
That's because if you don't move off your gen after 5 seconds they suicide off the hook.
Normally I wait it out, then as soon as I decide to run across the map someone else does too.

Hardly any of my characters are prestige. I didn't and still don't see the point of it as a long term player. If the 'look how many times I've done 50 blood webs' flex is really what you want then fill your boots but for me it does nothing.

@RatbasterdJr said:
I hate being slugged so a killer can try to find his 4k. Just put me on a hook so I can go next. 😒
Honestly this playstyle is getting beyond the pale at the moment and I refuse to engage with it - I also encourage anyone in a match with me to do so. Get the hatch, or at least try. Don't try and save me so the killer can swoop in and get us both. I'm over giving killers easy 4ks. If they want to slug player 3 and leave them down because its a 'valid tactic' then fine. But me hiding to try and survive is also a valid tactic and im going to use if you do. I'm going to make damn well sure you earn that 4k or wait a Hell of a long time to get it; if you do this and get the hatch before I do I'd rather the entity get me at the end of the EGC than you. I have the patience for it.

No it isn't. You can tell when a survivor has Off The Record, Unbreakable, Dead Hard, etc before the game is over, because they used it. Besides a toolbox, how could you tell if someone had a gen speed perk? The gens fly anyway.
No disrespect intended, but if the gens are still flying for you then perhaps introspect is the most needed thing here.
-
What perk are you talking about?
-
@VikingDragonXii said:
That's why all my survivor builds have CoH in it because I'll just Boom a totem and let them heal themselves. If they are lucky it's also a ShadowStep zone as well....
Even if a boon is active it's still quicker to team heal than self heal.
Heal the team mate then you can both get on the gen. What you lose in heal time you gain in 2 suvivor repair speed and you're both more secure in terms of health state too.
-
Ok, but then let's stop pretending it was because of Dead Hard or X, Y, Z perk. If it's a play style you enjoy. But BHVR should not enable it which is what they have done in abundance in the recent patch; ironically in an effort to discourage it
-
So situations like this cannot happen: where he literally camped both the hooks then would have been able to hook the Nea who tried to save me instantly on my hook and then continue to camp.
-
By BHVR's own standards of 2K + 2E being a balanced match and a win for the killer, that accounts for above 70% of your 'all matches' pie chart. I would also say this largely matches the experiences I've been having, so I'd love to see some updated data from BHVR on kill rates which are, apparently, too low.
