  • The annoying thing is the bubble was added at some point - back when the game first launched it was just the red silhouette going on the hook. No one seems to have asked for it and no one seems to like it. It completely negates Kindred at times. It needs to go.

b/c the game is survivor sided - so the newer killer perks are generally not going to be as strong as the perks survivors get

also because his basekit is ridiculously over stuffed.

I think people are learning the poison is stronger than they thought lol

It's just the usual people getting really upset and coming on here to vent that they dont understand the mode.

I think, as usual, it’s very killer dependent. I just had a Ghoul who was using the portals and his ability to basically poison the altars and patrol gens endlessly. We got one gen done and he got a 4k. We did get a fair few complete tables though so maybe we would have done better if everyone was on gens but it goes to show how much time the event wasted from the main objective which is an advantage for killers.

  • I’ve been saying map offerings should guarantee you DO NOT go there for ages

  • I swear this bloody game reads your build and gives you killers where you don’t get benefit from it lol

Not really. One of blights biggest strengths is the ability to get into chase instantly which Jason can do, the ability to return to hook instantly for an easy tunnel which Jason can do, the ability to create no win scenarios for the survivors which Jason can easily do thanks to his ranged attack with a shorter wind up than huntress and haste. Likewise he even has more map mobility than ghoul. Look at the Game or RPD, the ghoul can't simply ignore maps as well as Jason can.

and on top of all that he has stealth which blight ones not

  • @ShanoaLegendaryPlz said:

Ive found it similar to wraith. Just because you heard wraith go into cloak doesn't mean you'd start hiding and avoiding objectives. Wraith can also see peoples auras in cloak and show up without a sound que. I think as time goes on more people will be less intimidated by being found in omnipresent evil and will just avoid letting it be passive pressure.

the lack of sound cue is only possible with an offering/add on and that’s literally just for uncloaking. You can also still see him and hear his grunting if you’re observant letting you get a head start on a chase and being able to see auras with him is perk dependant. All these things are basekit with Jason, that’s the point people are making. Jason moves much quicker in his OE form than Wraith does too. Not mention Jason gets haste and inflicts exhausted the latter of which wraith doesn’t.

There’s literally no reason to play wraith anymore when Jason does everything he does and with the skills and abilities of about 4 other killers to boot.

This is my main issue with him (and The First) he combines the powers of too many killers making them redundant. Why would you even play Huntress or Trickster now when you can have a ranged weapon you can pick up mid chase without going to a locker and be faster in chase too? Why would you play Animatronic when you can travel round the map without doors and have a ranged weapon that not only sticks into the survivors but impales them into things reducing mobility as well?

The design is completely problematic on a grander scale than people thinking he’s unbalanced or OP. They’re literally making their legacy killers (and not so legacy ones) redundant.

  • @SurrealEcho said:

People complaining about omni when wraith can do the same thing but better….

It’s not better, you can still see and hear him.

  • I posted this in the feedback area but I’ll post it here as well - imo Jason and The First have started a trend of having too much going for them and making other Ks redundant.

    …

I don’t think he’s necessarily overpowered, but he has WAY too much going on as part of his basic kit.

He is essentially 6 (SIX) killers in one: Huntress, Wraith, Spirit, Animatronic, Legion and whatever Original Vecna is called, but he has a one up on every single one of them. What’s the point in playing any of them anymore when one killer combines them together and gives them extras on top.

Omnipresent Evil gives him both speed and stealth with less tell than wraith or spirit. He also has more info reading than spirit. The fact he can stay in it indefinitely and with no cool down is busted.

Jump scare means any of the ways you can try and negate the stealth power of OE are nullified because he makes you scream when he reforms revealing your location. This includes when you’re in a locker which is the normal defecto aura/exposed counter. Revealing people in lockers is legion’s thing as is time wasting which is another new thing with Jason cause you spend so much time immobile in the fog or crouch walking to and from gens cause you have no idea if/when/where he is going to pop up. He also gets basekit Bamboozle because any vaults or pallets he appears at get blocked and there’s nothing you can do about it which essentially renders Venca useless cause his whole strength was flying round the map, revealing location and being able to block pallets in chase. Also, why are there extra broken pallets around for him? What’s that about?

Not only does he have stealth and speed, but he is also a ranged killer. Why would you play as huntress or even Trickster and waste time going to lockers to restock when Jason can do it when he is nowhere near hooks or refill stations? He can even get them from occupied hooks which, again, is busted. His spear works the same as animatronic’s axe where it embeds itself into you and can also impale you into other stuff as well - so why bother playing as him anymore when you get both speedy map traversal without using doors and a better ranged weapon?

I felt they did this too with The First/Vecna but they’ve really outdone themselves with Jason and they’re entering a problematic era of killer development because they’re both trying to share resources in not making Killers to dissimilar to each other but also making the older roster of Ks redundant. It’s so bizarre to see some killers only have two entries in the new ‘killer power’ feature and Vecna and Jason have four. They really need to do some more balancing with this because it’s not great.

  • so is there an update for camping and tunnelling counters? Or are we just saying you’ve wasted 6 months and have nothing to show for it?

Also, I love the hue and fog on Haven, it should be on every map and every realm like it used to be when the game actually had an atmosphere. But when the hell was anyone saying it was too dark? The game is called Dead by Daylight. It’s meant to be night time. It’s meant to be dark. Now every ma just looks like a cloudy day. There’s not even a moon in the sky most of the time anymore which used to be the main source of light in the matches apart from the the fires and flood lights. This game loses its identity more and more with every update.

  • I know this is a hot take, so don't come for me, but I'd get rid of or change the nightfall somehow. It's awful and it really hurts my eyes. I think his kit in being able to teleport to his remnant and to any locker on the map is already pretty good. I'd be happy if they were to do something else to compensate for the removal/change of nightfall i.e. maybe he could 'attach' himself to walls and move along them as a shadow, but he's second least favourite killer to go against losing only to Plague.

  • I disagree in a way that it's not a communication issue because I've had plenty of matches where I'm doing a gen and someone else is too, but the third person isn't. I spend as much time as I can on the gen before I decide to leave and then normally when I'm half way across the map, the other person has come off their gen and then the third player has decided to unhook. If there were an 'I'll go for the unhook' emote like the mobile version had I'd like to see how that impacted gameplay.

Similarly with all the proxy camping and slugging going on at the moment, people doing gens often come off to try and help and then it can snowball from there whereas if you can be told 'don't bother they're camping' it means you can stay on gens for far longer.

So, I agree with you that survivors not doing gens is an issue, but I do think communication is an issue too.

  • I cant understand why console players want post-match chat. It's just a cesspit looking at my partner who used to play on PC.

So much of the game feels toxic right now - both in terms of player attitude and the way the game is being designed that facilitates that attitude. It's why I took a break. I'm hoping it's temporary but who knows.

  • No, I think the game is in quite a weird state right now. They're making efforts to fix it but there's not proof in the pudding yet.

Personally, I preferred DBD and BHVR back when it was more of a janky low rent experience - before all the realm beyond updates. It had soul, atmosphere and was fun. Both sides had completely broken kit but there were far less complaints and more fun.

Survivors? In MY Dead by Daylight video game? Unacceptable!

    disconnects

So glad SOMEONE recognised the satire lol.

  • Should be able to abandon when a survivor does a gen.

  • No, I don't. I've actually taken a break from playing the game. I found myself playing it just for the sake of it cause it was easy to jump into. I've actually found myself going back to games I've enjoyed before and trying to complete a backlog of games I haven't played yet.

I haven't played the game in about a month now. Every time I think I want to re-install I just watch my partner play and it reminds me of why I took a break.

  • The new design philosophy to make maps much smaller is very problematic now we have so many high mobility killers in the game.

Ormond Mine has too much visibility - i.e. no real viable loops that break LoS.

  • Your point is valid and I think that's why tunnelling has become more consistent and problematic over recent years - BHVR had veered more towards killers that have an increased level of map mobility in their kit quite consistently now. As such, they're the most effective killers, if not strictly 'the best'. Look at the high pick rate for Wesker, for example. There have been jokes that the game, at one point, should have been called 'Resident Evil by Daylight' due the high numbers of Wesker players you did and continue to see on a daily basis. Add that to the fact that maps are now routinely being made much smaller than they used to be, which is great for standard mobility and M1 killers, but gives high mobility killers a massive boost by nature and it's not hard to see why many feel tunneling is much more a problem now than it was a few years ago.

While it’s great to see QoL updates aiming to make the game smoother — especially for survivors — we can’t ignore the deeper balance implications here.

Yes, these anti-slugging, anti-tunneling, and anti-camping mechanics will strengthen survivor gameplay overall. That’s undeniable. But it’s also important to ask: why do killer players rely on these tactics in the first place?

It’s often a response to game design pressure. Many killers feel they have no other viable options due to gen speeds, strong survivor perks, and increasingly nerfed slowdown tools.

If these changes are implemented without addressing the underlying reasons killers tunnel, slug, or camp, then the imbalance only shifts further.

Killers need compensation in other areas, whether it’s basekit improvements, better chase mechanics, or meaningful perk reworks, Enhancing survivor quality of life is great, but it must go hand in hand with addressing the core struggles killers face.

Seeing nothing directly aimed at improving killer experience in this roadmap is genuinely concerning. It feels like we're addressing one side’s frustrations while leaving the other to keep struggling in silence.

They rely on it because it's reliable. That's literally the only reason. We can dress it up as 'need to pressure' or whatever other reason we want to, but there always seems to be a reason and the truth is that it's too easy to revert to.

I have been part of the DBD community for years now, both here and elsewhere, and the first major argument over this, that I saw, arose due to original Dead Hard. Killers said they had to camp/tunnel because the perk was too unhealthy. The perk was nerfed and it carried on. Then it was gens/maps/toolboxes/medkits/Circle of Healing. All these things were nerfed and it carried on. Then is was 4 man coordinated SWFs but you go into modes like Chaos shuffle where you cannot plan your builds etc and it's rife. I think it's time we need to admit that there'll always be a reason to play like this regardless of the state of the game and that's why BHVR are acting on it.

  • Why should people be banned for something BHVR broke, don't choose to kill switch and take too long to fix?

  • Great way of easily defending the strongest gen on the map though.

  • I don't have Jill and it hasn't come on SoS yet - otherwise I would totally use it.

  • It was near pointless as a perk as it was - the dropping sound gives it away so saves are almost universally failed unless the killer is distracted. Just being able to look up to avoid it was always BS imo. I used to laugh when I'd get blinded whilst being carried but the killer wouldn't drop me. It's essentially become a meme perk now or a perk for those who want to bully the killer with head on - decisive - flashbang combos .

I suck at using the flashlight so using the flashbang used to be my only way to complete the 'stun or blind the killer 'x' times' challenges and it took me absolutely forever to do it.

Personally I think it should be easier to blind the killer with it, but the killer gets a base kit light born for 30 seconds following a successful blind so it can't be abused.

  • @Atom7k said:

I had my fair share with the game and it once was my favourite game. Now I'm just getting annoyed thinking about playing it, yet I would love to, if it wasn't for the circumstances the game is in.

While some of the struggles of the game have improved, the community has not. When did we took the turn from fun games, intense games or being able to make a mistake without loosing the entire match to killers doing nothing but tunneling and camping at 5 gens on their map or survivors trying to bully/taunting a killer and also always trying to bring the match to a map in their favor.

Why is it that every time something that breaks the game is discouvered, everyone wants to abuse it instead of walking away from it in terms of fairness until it's fixed.

It is a game after all and people are constantly power tripping, playing like their life depends on it. Everyone wants to rub it in the other sides face that they just had victory worth absolutely nothing in the real world.
Survivors started to command others to leave a lobby because they thought their ingame skin was not comp enough. These people can't be sane anymore.

I already walked away from this game multiple times and everytime I come back for a new chapter it get's worse.
Now I am not sure how to stop that downfall but dbd starts to feel like old MW3 lobbies and is on the road to be like LoL.

I'm currently on a break from the game and don't miss it at all. I've had about two occurrences of thinking 'maybe I should just have a match' and then I watch my partner playing and think 'yeah, no - I'll stay away a bit longer'.

I've mentioned this in other threads and in other forums, but I honestly think mindset is a massive issue right now. Everyone thinks everyone else is out to get them from the word go. I've seen players 'punish' people in a match because they had a really poor experience in the one before - even though it's none of the same people so makes no sense.

I think there needs to be an acceptance that you will lose and that's ok - that you can still have fun regardless. I never expect to escape every match I'm in and in actual fact there have been matches when I could have escaped but got sacrificed because I went back to save a team mate - and that's ok. If a killer doesn't do great then sometimes I'll give them the kill - that's ok. Killers will sometimes want to meme or recogonise a survivor has worked really hard in looping them and rather than take it as a personal affront they allow that survivor to leave and that's ok. One think I think has ruined the game is the mindset shift to having to get a 4k for killers. Many seem to think they haven't 'won' if they don't. But it's ok not to 'win' it's about having fun whilst trying to get there - but now it's become a case of sweating so hard to get there rather than trying to have fun.

I think that's why the modifiers like 2V8 and Chaos Shuffle are popular - because for a time, until the sweaters come in and ruin it, they're about just having fun. That's what we need to get back to.

  • 'Set up' killers imply a level of planning and prepping in their kit and as part of their SoP. In that regard, the Skull merchant isn't a 'set up' killer. She can launch endless amounts of drones whilst just walking round where ever she wants and with overlaps - and most even do it whilst maintaining chase.

  • Ghoul and Wesker are the top two killers for their sheer 'pick up and play' style combined with high mobility.

You see them way more than other killers who are technically 'stronger' and that's why, in my opinion.

  • @ChrissyG88 said:

As a survivor, I'm seeing killers run this perk more often recently.

But I'm not really sure how to counter it. I'm getting absolutely destroyed by this, especially when coming up against high mobility killers like Ghoul, Nurse and Blight.

I decided to start running Calm Spirit and Distortion but in my last game, after the last survivor was death hooked, I hid in a locker, still had a distortion stack, and yet the killer still knew to come right for me.

So is there any counter to this perk?

    get in a locker

  • oh look, the beginning of a new vicious circle:

-BHVR make and release a busted killer

-Survivors use one of the only perks they can to counter it.

-killers moan about the perk and want a nerf.

Repeat ad-nauseum until we’re all arguing who complained first and are having ‘look at why this is happening’ arguments blah blah blah.

lights out was really poorly received. Chaos shuffle seems to be the most well received and actually seems to offer some balance to the game right now with minimal effort on BHvRs part so it wouldn’t surprise me if it came back sooner rather than later.

That is correct. This change also helps to weaken the advantage of the “Windows of Opp.” perk a little. Because we have fewer variants and this is also a welcome change for new players like me

it doesn’t weaken it - it just makes it less relevant as you’ll be able to learn where most things are as there are a tonne of consistently placed resources on every map variation.

They wouldn't be. If he goes into cooldown on his ability, he has to regular M1 walk to the other door, after his slowdown. Same with when Wesker uses his dashes just to get to 1 door. And if you know how to get the gate meter to the E, you can definitely open it by the time he gets back.

I literally watched him bounce between two doors for the entire EGC - no cooldown in sight. Or if there was one it was so little it didn’t stop him from doing it long.

  • exactly my point. The magnetism in his dash, from an S point of view, is ridiculous.

I’ve played against him a couple times and I can’t seem to figure anything out about him. How is he hitting me from the other side of a rock/debris? Why are they ready to attack again almost as soon as his jump ends sometimes?

Is there something I’m missing? why are people calling him bad?

I’ve felt the same playing against him. He doesn’t seem to have a tell for anything he does. I also think his mobility is far too oppressive, particularly in the late game.

Map RNG still stays, whilst it will be 1 map, there's many different random spawns within that map, slightly different tiles, pallet locations etc.

I didn’t say RNG would be removed - I said it needs to be improved and I doubt it will be.

There may be ‘randomised elements’ to maps but not enough and there are maps which I know there will always be consistent spawns. A fantastic example is the cinema map in the garden of joy realm. There is always two generators close to each other in the middle, there is always a generator by the statue and there is always a generator in the upstairs projector room, the shack is always to the right of the map and the basement always seems to be in it, there is always two ‘double pallet’ loops quite close to each other and the parking lot is always devoid of anything useful. This has not changed and it’s (this level of predictability) the same for other map variants too. Even the multiple Badham variants had a predictability to gens, hook sand resource spawns.

If you’re going to go down to one variant of map per realm it needs to be completely randomised each time.

  • No. it hasn’t been fun for a while and I’ve never even taken the game very seriously. I’ve always gone into matches expecting not to make it out and just try to have fun until I get sacrificed, but these days it feels increasing difficult to get anything done - whether that’s through killers with too much in their kit, map changes or other survivors. My gamepass runs out in two days and I won’t be renewing it. I was already planning on taking a break from the game but the release of the new killer and new changes has just laid waste to any doubt I had about this.

  • The maps are going to become even more boring and predictable than they already are. Unless they’re going to massively improve RNG, which I doubt, we are now just going to end up with a load of maps where everyone knows where everything is all the time.

  • I think there’s an element of truth to the burnout comments. I’ve cancelled my Gamepass and I’m going to take a break from the game I think. It’s not been enjoyable for a long time and I just keep trundling on with it - it’s like some sort of weird digital Stockholm syndrome.

  • hot take: the game is too far gone to ever balance it now. The only way to balance it is to make a sequel that changes the way the core game is designed so that it works around the class system and randomisation elements of 2v8 or Chaos Shuffle.

  • I’ve seen this pop up a lot in chaos shuffle and I have no idea what it does.

I really think BHVR need to update their UI so status icons can have an explanation in game.

I'm not the one DCing lil bro. They do look at DC data and they can include DC matches but they won't because it's bad PR for BHVR to show the true kill rate and how high it actually is

    I didn’t say they don’t.

  • @jedimaster505 said:

It's important to include the DC matches too, to reflect the actual reality of what's going on in your average match, instead of some hypothetical ideal where every survivor is a pro comp player in a 4 man SWF. DC's would bring the kill rates so high that survivors would be outraged so it wouldn't be a good PR move for BHVR. And while yes some DC's are for petty reasons most of them are actually because a Nurse or Blight or some other OP killer steam rolled the whole team at 3-5 gens and one player rage DC'd.

there’s plenty of killer DCs that would be reflected there too.

I'm around 70% survivor player and I just don't see this epidemic of slugging everyone around here sees. I suspect a lot of the claims are from people that count every slug no matter how short or infrequent in a match as excessive.

I see this a lot on Twitch. It's something so small such as a killer notices someone else around so makes sure it's safe to pick up and the person on the ground is already complaining about slugging.

That being said, I totally acknowledge my personal experiences doesn't mean others aren't having issues with slugging.

No, I’m only counting the times I’m seeing multiple people get downed or when the killer deliberately goes out of their way to do it consistently at any point in the match. Glad for you that you haven’t seen it, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t happening.

  • I mean at no point did I mention I was getting crows and 10 seconds would be enough. Maybe you should actually read things properly before you criticise people for their reading ability ?

  • I’ve made comments about the fog being missing for years now and given they’re planning on now allowing people to have a brightness slider, eradicating any level of light based stealth play, they clearly don’t care about atmosphere anymore.

  • Honestly I can’t even get past the surrender option to think about the second phase- it just seems so poorly conceived.
