You might as well just delete basekit BT if you're going to do this. You would basically be guaranteed to die if you got hooked in the end game except in the very unlikely situation that your teammate brought the perk. This basically just gives the killer a free kill that the survivor has no counterplay for. Survivors USED to have at least some counterplay to this because they could bring DS. The problem is people whined and now it doesn't work in the end game. I feel like basekit BT is a pandora's box that can't be closed at this point. What do solo survivors do when they just deleted because their teammate didn't bring BT? Doesn't sound like a lot of fun to me.

“You would basically be guaranteed to die if you got hooked in the end game except in the very unlikely situation that your teammate brought the perk”

Yep because back then killers used to hit the person unhooked immediately. It was really awful back then

It was my post the community manager commented on. What annoys me is I gave 4 solid counters which surprise surprise the majority who are complaining about TOTH are choosing to ignore it as it means they need to run Jill's perk Counterforce, a single perk btw which completely dominates full Hex builds instead of one of their many 2nd chances they run and have run for years. BHVR talk about "shaking up the meta" yet the moment killers start changing up their meta BOOM "complaint, complaint, complaint, complaint" followed by nerfs to the point no one uses them again and form a new meta, rinse repeat.

The wording also annoys me "thanks for providing this perspective" so they see and acknowledge that counters DO exist but instead of having a backbone and telling the playerbase this instead they are going for no doubt immediate nerfs in a upcoming hotfix so probably less than a week killers will get to try this out for themselves. Wouldn't shock me either if new TOTH ends up weaker than what it was before the buff. Either way Hex builds will go back to being gimmicky and rare then survivors will find something else to mald over.

Your post reeked of bias and after I saw that youre a tru3 fan then it all mad sense. You will defend anything the killer has even if it makes the game unfair and basically unwinable for survivor. I’m guessing you probably thought the gen kick meta was fine too.

Also telling us to run this perk doesn’t help because the other unfun strats are still in the game and we can’t run every single perk to cover for it

It has counter play on 2 killers base kit ATM. Slinger and Houndmaster can circumvent BT with power. Trapper could count as a 3rd if they run in to a trap but that's an if.

Because DbD is not and should not be a counterpick game. Three things are guaranteed to happen in every trial: you will have teammates, you have to complete 5 gens at 90 charges each, and the killer will chase players. If you prepare for anything else, you're going to have a useless build half the time.

This is the equivalent of saying a survivor should run Slippery Meat because they might have to kobe on first hook. It's bad game design if RNG is strong enough that players have to build a loadout to counter it. This isn't a casual card game like Uno.

I saw tru3 call you a low level player for your take In another thread (which I disagree with). You should watch his video its hilarious but not shocking how wrong his take is on the thrill meta

I've been hit with it more than once, though I just take it like I would a blast mind stun and resume playing the game, but it is kind of funny to end a game as the killer and see every survivor running OTR and/or DS and just be like 'huh, neat'.

you right those were crazy times but not shocked since so many people are so hellbent on justifying everything that is broken towards their side

    Mikaela - none

    Ash - 2nd

    David - 1st and 4th

    Kate - 3rd

Also my build if it matters:

    Hex: Thrill of the Hunt

    Hex: Ruin

    Hex: Face the Darkness

Hex: Crowd Control (cleansed right before(after?) I got my 3rd hook)

play vs thrill of the hunt and you will see why

Because your solutions to killers having "overpowered" stuff is to give survivors overpowered stuff. That's literally what the 8-second DS change would be. The perk was already game breaking at 3 seconds. People just needed to go down near actual loops, instead of relying on a 5-second stun to get them across the map. Either way, the perk's strength is in the killer getting stunned and losing all his pressure in an instant, AND he now has to chase that survivor an additional time to kill them. If he doesn't take that chase, he wasted a chase and got stunned for nothing. Taking more than 1 DS, he might as well open the exits for them.

What you call mediocre on survivor is actually decent. It's just that the survivor meta has been so stupidly strong and untouched for so long, you think that should be the standard. Unbreakable and BT have never been toned down, and are still strong (BT just isn't run, because you get it for free now. Go figure). If killers didn't tunnel or run gen defence or anything, then picking up dropped pallets, doing totems/chests faster, crawling faster, or creating illusions on gens would all be okay. But killers have to tunnel and run gen defence just to play, because balance changes almost never give them time, just takes it away, and so survivors have to counter that. And they do. 1 DS stun or 1 Endurance hit can be game-losing for the killer. It's just that bad survivors don't take advantage of that stuff. They're like, "The killer's tunneling? Oooohhh man. I better start walking slowly, or take 3 minutes to do 1 gen." Better yet, they rage quit and then tell the devs how they lost because "killah OP" when their leaving is what cost the team the match!

And no offense, but your last point is contrary to everything else you're saying. You're afraid that Thrill makes hexes OP, and that Counterforce isn't good enough, but that Counterforce also singlehandedly kills non-Thrill hex builds. Well, which is it? Do killers have the OP perk, or do survivors?

“The perk was already game breaking at 3 seconds.”-ds

    Skill issue

  • @danielmaster87 said:

So as a solution to situations where the survivors "can't do anything," we should instead take away the killer's ability to do anything. 👏

you already think killers can’t do anything💀

  • @Iron_Cutlass said:

I see a lot of posts saying “just use Counterforce to deal with Hex: Thrill of the Hunt” but I’d love to just collectively deal with all of these threads by bringing up some counter arguments that completely shutdown Counterforce entirely.

    First off… let’s talk modifiers… and math…

For those who don’t know how modifiers in DBD work, perk descriptions work in percentages but in DBD’s code these percentages are converted into decimals and equations to calculate what happens at a given time. Based on how this equation is set up, it can result in positive or negative modifiers being more or less effective.

To put it bluntly, Counterforce got the worse end of the stick here. Negative modifiers are applies first. Positive modifiers are applied second. This results in Counterforce having a diminished effect at cleansing totems due to how the match works out for the Charge per Second (C/S).

    • Hex Totems take 14 seconds to cleanse; 1 C/S and 14 Charges, 14 Seconds.
    • Hex: Thrill of the Hunt applies a 70% deficiency modifier; 0.3 C/S and 14 Charges, 46 Seconds.
    • Counterforce applies a +20% (or extending effect) efficiency modifier afterwards; 0.36 C/S and 14 Charges, 38 Seconds.
    • Hex: Face The Darkness makes Survivors outside of the Terror Radius scream every 25 seconds, reveal their location, and interrupt actions. Even with Counterforce, you are unable to counter Hex: Face The Darkness, the cleanse time is just too long.

Second off… Counterforce is licensed perk…

This can lead to a whole set of issues when it comes to came balance. Licensed Perks are normally designed to be “gimmicky” or “really bad” to avoid being meta.

If a Licensed Perk becomes necessary to run every game, and the only way to actively get said perk is through spending money, it leads to issues where the game becomes Pay to Win.

There is the Shrine of Secrets, which sometimes holds Licensed Perks, but it is unreliable and might not even release the License Perk you even need. There are many cases where perks (including Non-Licensed Perks) have no shown up in the Shrine of Secrets or take literal years to show up.

I don’t think this is healthy design for the game.

I remember the “just run detectives for noed” “run ds for tunneling” “run unbreakable soul guard no mither for slugging” “run object for weave”. Just annoying💀

Oh and who could forget, “run empathy for old eruption”.

I would like to bring fun perks like Blastmine or fineness instead of having to run perks for a chance to counter BS

  • @Atom7k said:

After comming back to dbd for the new chapter, my theory once again proved to be right and so after one year of observing dbd and how players play, here is the hard truth.

While there will always be people who play like dirt on both sides some facts that are hard to swallow are:

    • Perk meta is more balanced then ever. Survivors paradise is gone and killers are getting their perks nerfed as frequent as survivors. So no. There is no side that dictates dbd.
    • The increase of tunneling and slugging is the survivors fault but not only. The way dbd is played has changed. Survivors are provoking more and more situations that lead to slugging or tunneling. However the way some perks are developed invites slugging because it outplays these perks
      • Want to make an ds play and run into the killer? Well enjoy your time on the floor and your second hook stage.
      • You wanna flash light safe and hover around? If the killer knows you're around the one on the ground will be slugged.
      • You play 4 man swf with synergetic meta builds, busted add-ons and map offerings? Expect the killer to lock into comp mode too.
      • You run meta builds a lot? Surprise, the killer already anticipates that build and plays around it.
    • The increase of toxicity is mostly the survivors fault.
      • Tbag all day long? Enjoy getting tunneled
      • Play as bully squad? Enjoy the slug/noed
      • Tbag at the exit gate, because you made it against a low tier killer? Enjoy playing against A or S tier killers for the rest of your life.
    • Lobby dodging becomes a thing? Guess what, even survivors start to dodge lobbies where they see people with flash lights because they anticipate you're going to screw it up and then dc.
    • Getting tunneled, camped or slugged every match is extremly frustrating and annoying. Killers that do that from the start are likely to get blamed. On the other hand a lot of them have to fight a war every match so it kind of get's hard to tell when to play casuall and when to try all there is.

Now as I said at the beginning, of course there are killers who play miserable from the start. But while survivors demand the killer to play to their rulebook, they do more and more to annoy said killer. Then they are mad when the killer doesn't care anymore.
Why playing fair and spreading hooks when the survs plays toxic? And that question is harder to answer with every new chapter.

I observed it so many times I can't even count it anymore. Solo q is garbage and when I see my mate running after a killer in chase with a flash light I already anticipate to loose the match.

So the big problem here is:
Survs play more and more aggressive and or toxic. Killers adapt. Killers then meet a soloq lobby and absolutely annihilate them. The survs then equip more agressive meta builds to adapt.
And this goes on and on until every match is a war.

This is where we are today and why it feels like everyone is running the same builds. And every match feels sweaty.

“The increase of toxicity is mostly the survivors fault”

    Yeah ok

your past comments are just “killer is a plaything for survivor” or “survivor op killer oppressed” so it is funny hearing you defend being unable to cleanse hexes as a survivor skill issue.

  • @danielmaster87 said:

I'd say. When was the last time I had to sweat this hard only to get losses and draws over and over? Never. I'm genuinely not impressed with the looping I'm seeing. They either go down really quick the moment I get a favorable chase, or they're at a literal no-mindgame spot that forces Bloodlust/Entity Blocker. In any event, the gens are going really fast. You're never gonna be able to stop them, especially with people abusing the arbitrary time waste loops, where the killer has to break the pallet to get them anyway. So it's not that the game is suddenly survivor sided because of the killer nerfs and MMR change. The MMR change (which tbf, I asked for it) is really showing how unfair the game is for killer. I've had improved teammates as survivor, so that even when we lose, I knew my teammates were actually trying to the very end. But the survivors I gave as killer are just brutal now. They either don't go down, or they do but not quick enough to fuel Pop/Pain Res/Surge to slow the gens. A perkless killer would be screwed in this game state. It is SO bad. Probably the worst I've seen, and it begs the question of if we need something drastic for killer or not. 120% movement speed? Base STBFL? Faster Bloodlust? All I know is killers don't have enough tools to get survivors down reasonably fast. It's not even close, so I'm gonna take a break from the game.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3848730#Comment_3848730

    Come on, man.

“When was the last time I had to sweat this hard only to get losses and draws over and over?”

The only hex you can't safely ignore is Devour. But by the time devour gets powered up… either the survivors just didn't do gens or are getting stomped in chase. Ruin is still a joke, H. lullaby is a joke, Pentimento you ignore by just not doing totems and every other is just super gimmicky. Of course I'm using good survivors as an example of why hexes are weak but being good at survivor is not hard.

“being good at survivor is not hard”

And being good at killer isn’t hard either yet you make it seem impossible.

  • @Reinami said:

There are too many things in the game that are balanced around being "rare" and it isn't working anymore. There are too many people who are P100. Every single match i play, there are 2-3 P100s in the game. And every single one of them is able to bring ultra rare killer addons or items on the survivor side.

Here is a match i just played.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/MK2NWET9QOK6/image.png

And this is a regular occurrence. My win rate with houndmaster is awful right now so it isn't an "MMR" thing because i rarely win with her. But that isn't the point.

The point is, that P100 means you get a level 50 bloodweb every time, and you have invested millions of bloodpoints into the character. This means that every single game you play, you can basically get an iri addon every single time. So these things that are balanced around "rarity" are not working anymore, because they are able to use them every single game.

Something needs to be done in terms of balance, and things should stop being balanced around them being "rare" because "rarity" is not a thing anymore.

To be clear, i don't care if someone is P100, in the sense of the old "dodge when you see them" the problem is that they are able to bring the best stuff every single match because they have access to permanent level 50 bloodwebs.

Indeed. All those glorious finishers were so rare because people were busy using hands to dodge realms or protect their iridescent addons. Now they happen more often, just as should be.

Some people are simply too upset that killers are now more inclined to killing them instead of letting them go. What can I say? Get over it and move to the next game.

“Get over it and move to the next game.”

Its intentional, a few killers have this. Because if it wasn't there, then after you get hit, you just leave. So, when that happens on these killers, the gates get blocked for you for a few seconds, i wanna say its like 4-5 seconds. That way you can't get out. This is part of the design of their powers.

If you would Just Leave™ instead of teabagging the gates, you'd have a lot less problems with this kind of thing.

“If you would Just Leave™ instead of teabagging the gates, you'd have a lot less problems with this kind of thing.“

yes because every survivor is evil and is only at the gates just to tbag. Not that they went for a save and they get to a gate. Not that they were being chased towards the gate. Or healing by the gate to set up a save. Nope all of them are just toxic

Like I get the mode is popular but to those who enjoy it so much, yall can't be so blind to the fact the mode is doing damage to the game right? Queue times are the main reason I haven't been able to play Killer at all doing this dumbass event and Im of the option no matter what the devs do the queue time problem isn't going to get fixed. Im with @SidneysBane1996 where I think if you enjoy 2v8, you actually don't like DBD at all, and maybe it's time to move on to another game. I also agree with them with the statement that if you want this mode permanent you are just selfish and actually don't care about the ppl who want to play the game with normally reasonable queue times. My question is to those who enjoy this mode why must I be punished when I can't even play the role I want to play while y'all having the time of your life? Some of us don't have hours and hours to wait through 10 to 20-minute queue times just to play a few games of Killer. Now they extended the mode means even more days where I can't play the game bc I can't deal with the long queue times and I cant play Survivor my whole play session without falling asleep.

Overall I do this this mode does damage to the game the longer it stays around. As others said I think the mode shouldn't be more than a bi-weekly or monthly weekend event at best. It shouldn't stay longer than a few days and shouldn't last for weeks.

“I think if you enjoy 2v8, you actually don't like DBD at all, and maybe it's time to move on to another game.”

How is free speed (as fast as some killers), Endurance (another health state + sprint burst), and body blocking trivial? The killer can just ignore all of that, and not lose anything for it?

    • Class Ability: When within 32 meters of a teammate, you gain Undetectable. Injuring a Survivors transfers the Undetectable effect to your teammate instead. This ability has a cooldown of 30 seconds.
    • Info Ability: When your teammate initiates chase with a Survivor, reveal the Survivor for an additional 4 seconds.

This class sound completly weak trash, i mean whats a poin with undetectable status effect that work only on you with your teammate radius (means you do not get value cause survivors still can hear your teammate terror radius)

The fact that survivor-favored posts get 2 or 3 times more upvotes than killer-favored ones should be a good enough indicator how biased this forum is. It's also the reason why developers shouldn't rely on people feedback when opinions that benefit one certain side often get voiced much louder than the other.

“They hate him because guy tends to speak the unpleasant truth.”

Nope it’s because he is very biased

It’s way too easy for a top tier killer to hard tunnel a survivor out of the game, then still have Pain Resonance to pretty much guarantee them the win

Deactivating on a survivor death would encourage spreading out hooks more and punish players who decide to hard tunnel at 4/5 gens

    no

Well, you used a truetalent vid, so by this forums logic your argument is invalid by default.

I wish this was a joke but this forum hates that guy for some reason that eludes me.

    because he is super biased

They’re solid number tweaks, but overall, he’s still a weak, outdated killer with no real chase power. He won’t rank high on anyone’s tier list, and what’s even worse is that everyone is going to completely ignore him after these changes, since he’s technically not bottom tier anymore. I’d say D-tier at best, not suitable for 2024 DBD at all.

Myers is a special case where people don’t really care about him being weak. They find him fun regardless because people feel like they are playing the actual character. Any buff he gets are just a plus.

no I would say it’s more like remove the pity escape option more than everything else. Why wouldn’t you wanna loop at killer in order to escape? That should be there instead of the hand holding trap door.

now hatch is hand holding apparently

i know they can make things better instead of continuing to utilize a cheap dynamic which may easily include recycling the hatch to fit more in that dynamic.

the point is not to suggest them to remove something, the point is to suggest to make it more fair and healthy instead of naively asking them to remove all the things you dislike without addressing the things other people dislike. be less biased.

your suggestion does nothing about slugging for the 4k. I had a suggestion that fixed it and it doesn’t punish the killer at all. You still win. Asking for one last big chase at then end is a terrible idea because most of the resources are used. How do you expect to last as you said 90 seconds with nothing? And who does this benefit most in that big chase? Yeah the killer. be less biased

keep missing the point of what im saying, you're definitely making me respect your opinion more by that

you want it to be one last chase instead of hatch. You know they aren’t gonna get rid of a mechanic that’s been in the game for 8 years so what’s the point of suggesting its removal

you may interpret my words however you want, but im not going to engage in a discussion with you if you do that in the most incorrect way imaginable, it's pointless to argue with a strawman

you said you want to get rid of hatch. They aren’t gonna get rid of it.

id rather get rid of an uninteractive coin flip with hatch and gates.

i mean, surely not the people who crutch on that, but i'd rather have something more exciting and fun.

they are never gonna get rid of hatch. It gives an incentive to at least last to the end for survivors when the game is lost. Plus its thematic in the since that In horror movies their is always a “final survivor”. Hatch is 50/50 so you can still kill them. My suggestion removes the boring slug for 4k
