"Your skill as a killer only goes so far. At the end of the day no matter how good you are, if you go against optimal survivors you are finished."
The very high skill-level Killers would probably disagree... for example the streamers like Fungoose, Ralph, or Tofu who regularly 4k without addons against top Survivors. Ralph is Huntress-only, but he almost never uses M1, either. Fungoose 4ks most of the time with any Killer, while simultaneously giving a brain dump so you can learn from him. Tofu can do full game design discussions while murdering his prey.
As the game is deeply asymmetric, it is true that we have to monitor performance of both sides at different skill levels very carefully. But at the moment, it seems unlikely that Killer skill input is capped too low.
All of those streamers you mentioned are ones I watch and every one of them have said exactly what I have on stream. tofu actually said it several times just the other night but said it isn't much of any issue because it doesn't happen all that often. His exact words on stream the other night were "yes if you get maybe 3 or 4 optimal survivors you just take it and move onto the next match." These are people (I know fungoose anyway) with 8k hours in the game.
Again i'm not faulting anyone here. I can't even begin to understand how impossible it would be in this genre to fix this. I'm just pointing out that it is very disheartening and I understand the frustration.

I mean, I bring ebony mori for any blendette. But not sure what anyone would have against a dwight lol.

Pop, Nurses, Sloppy, and a final perk of your choice, dying light I can suggest.
I despise DL but love your other suggestions. May go with those 3 and thana maybe? I also hate thana so i don't know lol.
-
Unless dying light gets a rework to make it slightly above useless, i doubt it.

Big bootie Judy has spoken!!!

Interesting idea honestly. Also add for them to remove his completely unnecessary loud grunt when he vaults that removes any possibility of mind gaming some loops.
-
This proves as much as someone posting a video of all the gens being done in 3 minutes and leaving. But gg

Unfortunately, this post won't gain any traction.
It doesn't push the majority's narrative here.
2.5 minute game as Killer? Seems fine!
Most commenting on this are going to do anything to discredit you or the Survivors in game.
"They made so many mistakes, they didn't do x, y or z!"
Did you watch the video?

His power is fine when you know how to effectively use it in chases.
The problem is he doesn’t have much going for him outside of good chase potential. He isn’t great at applying map pressure or juggling multiple survivors.
Having quick chases isn’t enough to win the game. You need ways to keep the other survivors occupied even if your chases only last 15 seconds.
Exactly what this person said. Also, I have a hard time bringing myself to play the clown and toss slow down bottles at people when I can just hit them with a hatchet with a very similar mechanic.

Thanks for all the suggestions everyone. Gives me a good place to start. Between work, family, etc, it helps to get ideas/tips vs trying to figure demo out from scratch. He's one of my favorites. Thanks again : )
Personally I like Tru3ta1ent. A lot of people don't and I honestly get that, but I like him. Also like others have said, otzdarva is great. Scott jund and also fungoose. fungoose is very informative as to why he is doing what he is doing while playing.
I also really like ohtofu but more for if you're just wanting to watch someone. He plays a lot of killer and is good but it seems like it mostly is always billy, wraith, or pig.

It depends on the killer yo're playing and your playstyle.. For example, none of these perks would be any good on a hillbilly or a nurse (apart from discordance maybe). Also, they would mostly hinder you if you have an aggressive playstyle. At the same time they could be utilised quite well on a ghostface, clown or a freddy if your goal is to stall the game and have long chases.
You should get more specific/useful feedback you specify a little bit more which killers you want advice for and how you personally like to play them
I'm really liking the surveillance / surge combination.
-
Honestly... Your average red rank killers are going to suffer. The really good ones will still be really good. Your average ones will still maintain red rank because it's too easy not to but it will be much more frustrating.
-
I don't know. I do a little dance when I load into this map as ghost face, hag, or wraith with bone clapper. It's taken me a bit but I'm warming up to it.

This literally made me laugh out loud 🤣

I tried it. Hopefully you can get it to do something for you as I can't find a way to make furtive Chase beneficial at all. Using these two together just didn't give me much as opposed to nemesis and pwyf would. I don't feel the oblivious status on it's own from nemesis is that great.
-
Nice try. It's too easy to reinstall. You'll never make it until Friday
-
I can tackle ghost face and can't reveal him. Ibut when I play as him if a survivor farts it reveals me. I can't figure it out lol.

Clown has pop goes the weasel wich is one of the strongest anti gen perks imo but he is a killer that struggles
All of Plague's perks are good and/or fun. I don't personly like her as a killer but a lot of people do. I think. She does have horrible point and pip issues though.
Myers is just really fun to play, STBFL is his best perk. And Dying Light helps you protect those last generators near the end He just has so much different playstyles you can never really get bored with Myers
Haven't played much Oni so i can't really give my oppinion on him
Pig is also really fun to play and has some stall, but she can also struggle if you don't get quick downs to take advantage of her traps
And Bubba is not that good of a killer but has the ultimate farming tool known as BBQ
That my 2 cents about it
I agree. I'm not a fan of playing as plague bit I do like her perks a lot.
-
Who is Adam?
-
Plague. With ruin removed from the game, corrupt intervention is going to almost be necessary on some killers and infectious freight is amazing.

Obviously the devs are not survivor biased. They love their game and does it make sense to any kind of game developer to just say ######### you to an important portion of the playerbase.
Just because survivors OR killers get a slight or meta changing buff/nerf does not mean the devs love one side and want to see the other sides pain.
Theres a ton more stuff i wanna say but i can't think off the top of my head
I agree with you. I think when you look at how long this game has been around, look at other games similar, it is easy to see bhvr is actually doing a really good job. I don't think they are survivor side and honestly I feel they are doing what they think is best for the game overall.
But I also get the frustration. We all play games to have fun. Part of that fun is a sense of accomplishment, winning. Sure you can't win them all. But this game has a major issue. Your skill as a killer only goes so far. At the end of the day no matter how good you are, if you go against optimal survivors you are finished.
Everyone with hours in this game knows this. The devs I'm certain know it. You can argue that it doesn't happen that often which is correct, but it happens. Some days it happens more than others. But the fact that you can sit back at the end of a match, a match that you played really well in, downed people fast, prioritized correctly etc and still get your ######### pushed in really sucks the fun out of playing that role.
I don't know the numbers but I have to think red rank killers along all platforms is a sizeable number of people. When the game has such a huge flaw like that, and a change to such a strong perk is made that very well looks like it is going to exaggerate the problem.... It is hard not to take it as a giant ######### you.
-
I admire your attempt to make new ruin sound not so useless. But you're completely ignoring the build being used and how it would not work with new ruin at all.

Tru3 and Marth destroy with any killer, really.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/998849#Comment_998849
You are not alone. Her blinks and post-blink lunges are completely broken right now. Dedicated servers and her rework introduced so many gamebreaking bugs to her. To the point that ######### hurts her more than the actual nerf itself.
I watched Tru3 get absolutely wrecked today. But for the most part I agree. They play well with any killers. But they both also show that good survivors destroy any killer.
-
DS is easy to rework. It currently does not counter tunneling. It counters momentum and it makes you a god during end game. Just make it deactivate when another survivor is hooked. Problem solved. Still counters tunneling but makes it so it is no longer the best perk in the game.
-
This is the most irritating part. Ruin was changed because it was not fun. I would argue it is even less fun to wait 10 minutes for a match then to go against these super new killers and have no challenge at all.
-
Am I the only one experiencing the nurse bugs? I don't touch her because it seems like her blinks

I just have a ton of fun in these threads. People who were carried by that busted killer and can't do well now that you actually need to be good at her expose themselves quick.
I understand having fun with a lot of the goofy comments on these forums, but you shouldn't do that while at the same time adding your own goofy comments to the fire. Carried by nurse? You do realize she was/is the one killer that required a lot of getting use to and skill to use? Now if you want to say people are getting carried by freddy that is fine. He is extremely powerful and requires very little skill to play well. Nobody was carried by nurse though. If you dominated with nurse it's because you put the time in to be able to do so.
-
I use to play probably 80% killer and 20 survivor. That is probably reversed now because I just don't find killer very fun to play anymore. I still call myself a killer main though as I don't want to be associated with the majority of survivors.
-
Freddys original game play was great? Who in the hell told you this?
-
As a killer, I think gens need to take longer. As a survivor I think gens are the single most boring aspect of any game i've ever played and don't want them to take longer. So honestly, idk lol
-
Way too situational to just say "slug now" If you down someone do you KNOW where someone else is? if you do KNOW where someone else is, are they in a good spot? How long do I need to chase them in order to get a hit/down/pallet out of them?
-
Probably trapper. I don't know why I seem to find every damn trap he sets but I do.
-
More what they don't do...Gens. There is honestly very very little instances that generators should not be completed and us on our way out the gates within a couple minutes of the match starting. Playing solo survivor and seeing your teammates do absolutely nothing to contribute to the end goal is pretty annoying.
Also something even more people do...when you see that teammate that couldn't run the killer to save their life standing in the safety of the exit gate tbagging like they are all the sudden tough as hell. Be toxic mid game/chase or be humble. being toxic when you know you can't be punished for it is just being a sissy.
-
I agree it is a little odd. There is one objective so there isn't much else to do. Of course the killers objective is to kill and if you don't do that in the "correct" way then you're called a tunneler, a camper, sweaty try hard etc. I think people as a whole are just weird.
-
I don't. I find it extremely boring for both sides. I especially hate it as survivor. I don't want to wait 15 minutes to find a match only to have it be boring as hell.
-
Am I the only one that finds it ironic that many people complain if a killer has a power that does not require much effort while the entire role of survivor requires little effort?

I like to try different perks instead of using meta perks every game
Completely understandable. I do the same. Otz loves surge. I have tried it a couple times and just don't like it. There is a reason meta perks are meta i guess.
-
I honestly think it will be billy. Killers that know how to play billy are really tough. I look for them to make him much easier to go against so everybody has more fun.
-
@skoopydoo said:
Hopefully this will make the game more even and bring kill rates closer to the 50s rather than 70.
It won't. 2 kills is a depip for a killer. It will change tactics but not the outcome.
-
Cool story bro. Also the "winning" posts complaining about people "winning" is equally as tiresome.
-
Right at this moment I would have to say the most satisfying thing is finding a match.

Corrupt intervention.
Probably the next best thing but is still garbage to me. Too many times I spawn in the center of a large map giving me 3 random gens covered and no benefit to being able to apply pressure or set up in a specific area. Also same issue in small indoor maps.
-
Favorite to go against would be clown or demo as I can loop either of them forever. least favorite probably trapper or pig. Trapper because I seem to find every trap he places with my ankle. Pig because literally 90% of them I go against proxy camp with their built in insidious. I know she isn't the only killer with this ability but for whatever reason the ones I go against love this play style more than other killers.
-
Hag can be really good. One of my favorites since she got a little TLC. But not in the discussion of one of the best IMO. And soon she will have zero perks that slow the game down right from the start to allow her to get rolling so I feel she is going to be used even less soon.
-
If they would give every killer some form of map pressure they would not need to rely on tunneling.
-
It's for basic m1 attacks. But you'll soon learn that even when it does work it is not very useful.
-
It is a nice sprint burst. A killer that keeps returning to the hook when someone is unhooked is basically holding a giant sign advertising that they have no game sense and can't determine where survivors are doing gens. So if you get your sprint burst with borrowed and run a bit he more than likely will never find you again until you unhook someone.
-
What is even more funny is even though other survivors see that, it will more often than not lead to a 4k because most are too greedy to do gens and bounce.
-
@VincentRedfield said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/120417/keys-need-to-go
Keys only work if enough gens are done... If you have a bunch of people escaping by hatch that means you were already losing badly. And they are very rare or ultra rare.
So if there are 2 gens left and 2 survivors that means you're losing badly and a game you could possibly double pip is now a safety pip just because of an item and that's a good thing to have in game? I have to disagree.
