Slowdown builds are not really strong against good survivors. That was efficient pre mmr when you had a potato mixture.
Regardless, you might actually be that mmr and overestimate the average player. Most people who place this game are very sus. So if you aren't sus, automatic high mmr. Simple as that.
What do you mean by "suspicious"?

Yeah my bad, i misunderstood. I changed my message already.
I just think he gets punished too much for 1 tentacle miss. If the survivor holds W it takes so freaking long to catch up and by that time an entire generator has finished. I don't know if he needs any buffs per se he just gets punished really hard for messing up a little bit.

If you are camping with Nemesis, go with m1 like other killers. Huntress, Trickster and ofcourse Bubba are strong campers. Other killers will go m1, even Billy.
I'm not camping generally, I don't mean camping. I just mean literally running around in a chase. Nemesis gets punished way too hard for little things.

Theyve never changed it
Im still blockin hooks the same way Ive been since the start
I would know this, I throw games with MoM and Breakout all the time
Really? I've heard people talk about how you have to do it a certain way now and a killer can just hook someone and push you out of the way now, like you aren't even there.

No?
What do you mean?

I have a few theories for this.
My first one is that there really are a lot of killer mains out there but they feel like everything is against them, and really it is. I don't mean from a balance perspective but the game is 4v1 so if you play killer long enough you feel like the entire player base is against you because it literally is, there are 4 survivors for every 1 killer. Also to compound to this killers will see toxicity from survivors more often because survivors can feel empowered because they have 3 other teammates with them in games. It's easy to t-bag a killer when you have 3 other guys on your side. I can see killer mains just being tired and frustrated and feeling like the world is against them, they probably have an easier time to find flaws in the game and balance this way.
My other theory which isn't mutually exclusive from the other one is that killers are reliant only on themselves in games. If they mess up and survivors escape it's on them, not on any teammates. If you are completely reliant on yourself to take down 4 other players you can think that the game is really not on your side and thus talk about it more. You can have a feeling of hopelessness when you're on your own so you'll see people complain about how hopeless killer is.

Just wait to reach a high SBMM.
I actually started out in high MMR cuz it had data on me from before SBMM where I could 4K every game as Clown, so when I finally came back every survivor was kicking my ass but I've slowly gotten less rusty and when I lose a game I know it was because something I did, not because of survivor BS.
-
I don't think so. I actually just became a killer main the other day because I finally realized how good killers have it. Not even joking.

Are you playing the same killer or different killers? You need to lose a few games as the same killer for that killer's MMR to drop. If you like to play everyone, you need a fair few games on each one to adjust.
My killer MMR is now appropriate for every killer but I had to endure more than my fair share of 4 survivors teabagging at the exit gates to get to that point.
I'm only playing as Nemesis. For about 20 games I've gotten almost all 4 escapes where every survivor is moonwalking out the exit gates. I got a survivor with 7,500 hours. The average I'm finding is around 1000 - 2000 hours when I'm basically a brand new killer, I haven't played in a year.

It will adjust if you lose in a game, but it doesn't decay for not playing. It's not currently a feature but BHVR specified as a future adjustement.
Yeah my problem is that it isn't adjusting. I can barely get 1 or 2 hooks every game and it's still giving me good survivors.

Your rating doesn't decay over-time for now, if you did play even before the MMR dropped... for the past year before, the system was collecting your performance in the background. If you had a super good time back then, perhaps your rating is high.
So your rating doesn't lower at all? And yes I played a lot of killer before the SBMM.

It used to be, yes. At one point gens were faster, infinites existed, and there were no such thing as medium vaults. But now the game is very balanced.

Killer buffs happen constantly. Compare the state of the game 2 years ago to now. Survivors have gotten pretty much nothing and killers have gotten everything.

I'm not really getting this experience luckily. People have been playing pretty normal.

So when it comes to the player numbers of this game you can't go month by month. Every year the players drop from October to around April. That's because a ton of new people play around Halloween because it's a horror game after all, and then they drop it. However, every year the game gets bigger. Compare October 2020 to October 2021.

No you can't.

You told me I was wrong on everything I said but when I asked for you to go into details you did not. The nature of a VPN is that you can't control it, hell even amazon has to jump through hoops to restrict VPNs and they can only do that by keeping track of where you live and your typical IP addresses. Friend I'm telling you that there is nothing BHVR can do, I'm not simping for them or white knighting or anything, in fact on a whole I dislike them as a company, however they can't control VPNs anymore than they can control the weather.
Idk bro ping limits are a very real thing for a lot of games, it's just that dbd does not have one. It's not like I'm the first person to ever come up with this idea it's a real thing for many video games.

Oh, I wasn't aware you worked in the networking field. Do tell me then how it works, since all that training I had seems to be incorrect.
Well I already established with proof that the only validation in this game is for pallet drops and Dead Hard which doesn't have anything to do with playing on 300+ ping because it will always be bad.
Secondly, the issue is that people are using VPNs to connect to servers that are across the world so it "typically making your connection a little bit faster" has nothing to do with that. If I connect to a server in China from the US my ping would be horrible and nice "a little bit faster".
As for the privacy thing, swatting due do dbd is a myth, it could be from a person streaming, not playing dbd. Sure DDOSing is an issue but if you are using a VPN to hide your true IP you could just connect to a server that's closer instead of connecting to China, so that is false too.

That is no different than saying something like "just do better!" It doesn't help and doesn't provide a solution. For the record they already have validation for extremely high pings, what you seem to want is to only have people with extremely fast pings which is not the majority. Also since you don't seem to be aware of this fact but VPNs typically make your connection a little bit faster, so in reality if you want the best experience everyone should be on VPNs. Oh and did I mention they protect your privacy as well?
Bruh...

@emetSdidnothingwrong said:
No they can't do anything about it, that's the nature of a VPN. Sorry bud but until the internet changes at a fundamental level VPNs are here to stay and no there is not an effective way to restrict them, well not something readily available to the public that is.

Its a issue that affects both sides.
Nevertheless, that people play on different servers could be the fault of how the system connects to a server instead of being someone abusing VPN. I´ve had some matches where my ping was around 100-120 when its usually around 50. Now during the match, everyone else also had a ping of 100+. Checking their profiles after the match, showed that the steam players were from different continents.
The devs mentioned that its the matchmaking that tries to find faster matches, which sometimes can set you up with one server instead of another. Which would explain the ping differences.
Well then do anything that helps the issue out but I know that VPNs themselves also cause issues cuz of players being able to connect to servers the entire world away. Either way It's just a rant post about how something should be fixed in any way it can be.

So whats about the survivors that lag switch right before getting hooked? Killer can´t hook them and they wiggle out.
I´ve seen this a couple of times. Both as survivor and killer. The survivors ping jumped to 1000 and went back to normal, when he was free.
Ok well that's lag switching not using a VPN because if having high ping truly does make a difference in that scenario well a VPN gives you a disadvantage for every other thing in the game.
If you could prove that a VPN truly does benefit survivors then ofc I want the high ping block on survivors too, it should be fair, nowhere did I say that it shouldn't affect survivors too lol.

Yeeeaaaah that information of yours is kinda outdated. Everything is server sided. Survivors can lag switch just as much as killers could back in the days you are refering to. Back when the killer was the host.
Moreover just because there are dedicated servers doesn't mean the hits aren't still decided by the killer, it's just on a server now instead of being hosted by the killer. It still takes into account the ping of the killer because they didn't truly make everything server-sided, they just jammed the old system onto a server. They are slowly making it server-sided however, like with pallet drops and Dead Hard.

The only thing that is server sided are pallet drops and Dead Hard, that's it. Everything else is still killer sided and a dev just confirmed that the other day.

What about survivors? You only mention killers being able to do that.
When you have high ping as a survivor it only hinders you because the game is based around the killer's screen. Whatever happens on the killer's screen is law, and if it happens that on the killer's screen the survivor is lagging way behind well then you get hit regardless.
I've had high ping as a survivor before and it just makes you freeze and then you fall to the ground cuz you were just standing there on the killer's screen.

I never said there should be. It's a bad idea that they can't get rid of, and an easy solution for baby forum whiners that keep complaining the game is astronomically survivor-sided. Though then again they'd need to pour some effort into Nurse.
She isn't fair. It's crap design. And people who benefit from it will defend this dreadful thing to the very end. Let them, it's not like you're forced to play her, and you can just let yourself die if you don't want to face her.
True.

@anarchy753 said:
Really? When the game is filled with bugs that can allow people to be DDOSed, you want to prevent people from using a tool to stay safe.
No I don't necessarily want the VPNs themselves banned, just the fact that you can cheat and have 300+ ping.
-
@DeliciousFood said:
You should look at Nurse like this:
In games, you grind and overcome some tough challenges to unlock some uniquely difficult mode to test your skills. In Dark Souls you push your skills to get the toughest NG+ cycle where one mistake will kill you over and over. Literally working your way to get the most difficult and satisfying challenge.
Nurse is the opposite. You grind the ######### out of her to unlock DBD's secret very easy mode. Because after really getting a good feel of the 'Nurse game', because she plays a different game than DBD, you essentially have nothing stopping you from breezing through 99.99% of the game. No obstacle can limit you. No enemy skill can truly hamper you. Anywhere, anytime, you can destroy the opposition.
Of course she isn't balanced, that's the whole point of Nurse. Enjoy your very easy mode those that bothered to grind out this secret DBD setting. Nerfing her would probably make her pretty poopy too. Which I wouldn't care about lmao.
So in a PvP game where 2 sides compete with each other there should exist an easy mode character where no obstacle can limit you?
Just because she's hard to play as doesn't mean she's fair in the slightest. No fighting game or any other competitive PvP game has characters designed like that because it's unfair.
-
@SuzuKR said:

No, because nerfing Nurse and survivor to actually match would require so many changes to this game it would be literally unrecognizable from a current standpoint. Other killers can be helped by much more comparatively simple changes, like shrinking larger maps, weighting tile spawn logic better to prevent busted setups, etc.
Furthermore, Nurse is the best balanced killer in the game (minus stuff like three blinks), and survivor isn't too problematic balance-wise basekit (outside of specific perk interactions). Other killers that are way weaker are the ones with issues design-wise because they're too held back.
I think you're the only person actually arguing that Nurse is a balanced killer. Basically every other argument was that she has a low kill rate so she's not a problem or there would be too much backlash which makes sense. This is an absolutely horrible argument that nobody agrees with.

You mean the normal games that are very rarely even whatsoever because of a mix of any of the following of these things?
• MMR and thus matchmaking being useless, especially for anyone over the soft cap that has to be lowered back down so their queues don't take literally hours
• People bringing all sorts of builds (eg someone going hyper all out maxed meta versus people doing random meme builds/adepts/whatever non-meta/etc)
• No guarantee the survivors know how to play against the killer/no guarantee the killer knows how to play their killer
• Drastically gameplay altering maps all up to complete RNG unless altered by a map offering, which is pretty much only ever used to shift it to one extreme or the other
• People that may not care to actually try to their best while others may (eg, some people just want to get a challenge or achievement done and don't care how they do otherwise, people sandbagging others, taking game relaxed while others try, etc)
So you're making an argument that Nurse is balanced even in mid level play...? Who hurt you?
-
@SuzuKR said:

You should learn what those words mean before you use them so blatantly foolishly. As has been repeatedly stated and repeatedly proven, Nurse against equally good players at high levels of play equals out to around 2 kills and 2 escapes on average. With or without restrictions. With, closer to 2-2.5, without, closer to 1.5-2, averages-wise. Sorry, facts don't care about your complaining.
I mean that's probably true in heavily restricted tournaments. I'm talking in a normal game.
