Agree that it is smart to get rid of the weak survivors, thats what I do aswell, and probebly everyone as Killer. But that doesnt mearn to chainsaw straight to the hook back even if you chased someone recently. As I said, we tried everything to get the attention, the Killers were most of the time really far away because we baited him away from the hook.
We even sacrificed ourselves too but they just slugged us and kept going to him. Obviously you are not supposed to escape every game, but he should escape atleast more than twice a day xD.
His gameplay has flaws too, he forgets that he is very loud if he is injured etc. Even though, if we usually carry someone on red ranks the Killers tempt to be more nice to bad survivors and even gave him the hatch sometimes. Since the rank resets he is just getting killed and that is kinda sad.
So depipping would be even worse, red rank Killers arent that desperate to get kills compared to low rank Killers and thats what I and he appreciate alot more.
I'd just have him weather the storm and play more. But I feel 100 hours he should be getting the game a bit better. He should toon into some streams or vods if he has time/interest. I'm not trying to dog you guys or anything, some games just go ######### tho.

Well I did mention that I won that round, but I see your point. I use it as a failsafe more than a crutch.
I would try to get out of the habit of using something like that unless you're memeing. Maybe try different killers as well, you do have to realize that some games you will get outplayed by some survivors. You just need to know to only waste so much time with them. If their whole team are gods, you just need to play better. If you're constantly being beat by certain tiles or patterns, maybe adjust your perks to compensate to better your skill (spirit fury/end, brutal, bamboozle, etc) these perks aren't terrible as some people say, they are quite helpful on some killers, I don't use them personally, I just rely on mindgames, but they do definitely help with some loops/tiles. What does nothing for you but the last minute or two of the game is noed, and that's if they don't cleanse it before or after it's active.

I am spamming lockers, flashlight clicking and even bodyblocking the break animation of the Killers, they dont care 😂. I teached him already the most and he knows how to abuse infinits, he has problem to fast vault or mindgame and these are thinks are stuff you learn by just playing.
I wrote in my post there that we did everything with borrow, you might read my post fully before you may write^^
I tried to reread everything you wrote, and you only mention body blocking. Again, I feel like you guys are just unhooking in the killers face or before he's had a chance to do anything. In the future, maybe get in an active chase with the killer and see how he reacts, if he just goes back to your friend and slays him, that's a strategy he probably should use, 1 less person = one less person working on gens. And if your friend is just mindlessly killing pallets, the killer will probably see that he is weak and will want to get rid of him faster.
Your friend should realize that some games you will lose. I wouldn't recommend this, but if you have a huge rank disparity with your friend and think that the killers you go against are too high skill for him, and again you cannot carry him through the game, then just depip yourself back to a more appropriate rank, hook suicide or w/e. It's a bit extreme, but potato people sometimes do better against potato killers.
-
@BenZ0 said:
What do you mean with that? How should my new friend get better if he gets straight up killed agian after unhook? We even bodyblocked but the Killer just ignored us most of the time because he knew he would never catch the others.
Think that of a new player who has no skills and wants to learn, he cant learn if he dies in the first 3min.
Teach your friend tiles and how to loop, and if you're worried about noed, cleanse totems. If your friend is that ######### and you're so good, keep the killers attention all game.
If your friend is new, realistically he shouldn't expect to survive, and if you aren't skilled enough to carry him then he should just accept that and try his best. I play with many friends at different ranks and playtime and we can all escape probably 75% of the time.
Also you can try to use perk like BT or something if he's getting tunneled off hook, or not unhook when the killer is close if you don't have it.

@BenZ0 said:
horrible to see how insane the most Killers tunnel with noed. I am a Killer main who agrees that sometimes you need to tunnel to generate some pressure or it is the best choice in some situations. But hell.. I was playing the past few days with a friend who is new to the game, obviously he doesnt has DS yet. And he died most of the games as the only 1 because the Killer straight up tunnels him to death and then tries to slugg us with noed.
Its sad to see that most of the low rank Killers put all their hope into noed and just dont care at all about gens. I guess these are the ppl that complain about the gen speed? Idk what is so hard about that, just protect your objective as Killer?? Anyway, I played the past 2 days always with low rank Killers that weren't the best honestly... most of them just put all the faith into noed and were tunneling straight up without any reasons.
I guess ppl should really learn how to play Killer properly and I personally think new survivors need something against Tunneling. Ds was a great idea but it is a perk for a licenced character, new players need something that they have easy access to from the beginning.
Get better at looping and hope your team does gens, i was put in rank 10, 2pips and reached rank 3 in 2 nights, most killers were yellow, brown, green and couldn't even hit me :/

Since the Ruin change, NOED has become part of the killer meta now, whether people like it or not. I never used to use it but I have to now since there is no early game slowdown anymore.
Since it has become part of the meta, I think that survivors should not be allowed to harrass killers who use it. Saying "get good" is not a solution.
I JUST played against a streamer and watched their stream after the game and I of course was listening to what they were saying, and I don't think it should be allowed anymore.
They typed in the chat that I should not use NOED and that I camped. I didn't camp, they were just very cocky with saves and being altruistic. (I was Pig).
The streamer kept saying how toxic I was and how killers that use NOED have no skills. News flash to them: NOED didn't activate until the 2nd last person DC'D and I closed the nearby hatch. I wouldn't have needed it. NOED in this round was just a precaution that I didn't have to use because I had the skill to kill everyone else before the end game.
And to explain the alleged camping: like I said, I would stay nearby since the survivors were already near when I hooked someone and why would I walk to the other side of the map when I know someone is near? I wouldn't stand within view of the hooked person. I also had STBFL so getting the unhooker was easy.
What are your thoughts on this? I'm tired of people saying that I'm toxic for daring to equip NOED to make themselves feel better.
I run corrupt instead of ruin and do fine on killer, it almost makes no difference. Some games go faster, sometimes you have to slug, but in reality, the games are nearly the same. Also as a red rank survivor I see noed maybe in 25% of games, so I would say it's far from meta. I feel you just need to get better as killer, and as memey as it is, pressure better, juggle better, or if you're losing slug more.
Is killer in a good place right now, no. Is it far from it, but it is also not unplayable. If you are still relying on noed to carry your games, you're just going to keep losing.

Botany Knowledge isn’t a bad perk. I can still be useful to the team with Botany Knowledge, especially with a med kit.
You can just use a medkit and addons. Let me guess, you use urban and sb too?

Lately it seems like every survivor group wants to run at least 2 toolboxes. Obviously as a killer I can dodge the lobby. Which frankly gets old quick. Or I can run Franklin's Demise.
My problem with Franklin's is it doesnt really help me all that much. 9 out of 10 times the item ends up back in the hands of the survivor or his team mate.
10 % lost on the item when dropped seems a little weak. Wouldn't 20% (tier 3) be a better option?
If I'm going to use a perk for the sole purpose of neutralizing an item. I should get more bang for my buck than a measly 10%.
Using franklin's to counter a toolbox is not a smart idea. If you are already actively chasing a person with a toolbox, you are already preventing them from using it. If you hit a survivor with franklin's and they aren't a potato, they will just go back and pick up the toolbox. You should use a better perk in its place and just accept toolbox games.

Funny when problems affect you, your tone changes on the devs and what they do.

Hook exploit isn't bannable because it is on survivor side. Don't u get it?

Is this the same guy that was defending the devs for not fixing their game and being OK with buying more cosmetics before it is fixed? You get what you deserve bro. All those videos look like the game is working as intended, you just need to play better.

You underplay slugging a lot in this post. Leaving them on the ground creates about as much pressure as hooking them. Someone still needs to come off a generator and go get them. Nobody said you had to leave the vicinity either.
Don't tunnel or alternatively do slug and you'll never see DS in play.
I've had way more games where DS wasn't even used than I do having it get used.
slugging is not the same as hooking a second/third time. It does not create the same pressure

Doubt it.
Also have fun finding them all on Lery's/Hawkins without a Map, Small Game or Detective's Hunch to prevent NOED while someone is getting camped.
People don't mind the exposed part of the perk. What people want is a requirement from the Killer to activate it. Could be anything, really. I just hate how this perk rewards those that chase/tunnel one survivor the whole game.
Don't use all meta perks then? You just listed counters to noed you can use instead of BT, DS, DH, UB

Or maybe these things have been happening the whole time, but because the players affected by it were once able to disconnect and then start the next match immediately, they didn't have to waste time or effort complaining about it here. No longer
There have been plenty of complaints and video of the games where this occurs, just the devs turn the blind eye probably because they can't fix it because they are monkeys. Now the DC penalty just adds insult to injury for a game that still does not work properly. I really don't have a problem with the DC penalty, I've had plenty of times in matches where I've been ahead on both Survivor and Killer side and multiple people DC out of frustration and harm not only the experience but also the ranking after. What I do have a problem with is that they've implemented this system without being able to tell when someone is intentionally DCing, crashing, or whatever the DC cause is, and that they have so many gamebreaking issues that are out of the players control still not fixed.

Because the game has been out gor 4 yearsa nd we've been collecting so many add ons/offerings/items that this system would kill the progression system.
We'd likely have enough bp to skip leveling for several chapters worth of grind if this was implemented. It'd be RIP BP economy
It'd have to have a HUGE limitation imo like you can only refund enough items to equal 20-30k bp a day.
Who needs to progress if you've been playing that long?

I'm a constant rank 1 killer and I was set back to rank 10, I've been going against grey and yellow ranks all day and man I feel bad. I know this is a bug but still.
I've gotten to the point to where I'm letting 1-2 survivors escape if I can tell they're new . does anyone else feel this way ?
I feel this way on both sides, but how I look at it is if you just do you best and just destroy them, on survivor or on killer, you will double pip more and get out of these ranks faster. I know that the devs did this so new/green ranked players and killers would quit complaining that they were going up against red ranked players, but what has happened is being this low (ie high purple low green) to start, I've still been going up against the same Green/Yellow ranked players (as survivor).
Again, just destroy them now and climb faster. If it makes new players quit, then devs deserve it for doing this again. You can't have rank reset normally for months, then one reset when the community has been crying for weeks about the ranks/matchmaking, and just claim it's a bug. As ######### as the coding is with this game, that shouldn't fly with anyone.
-
I would laugh for suiciding on hook being penalized, not because it would be a dumb idea, but because I know the monkeys would code it in such a way that if you are the last survivor left and get hooked and instant killed because you are the last survivor, the penalty would still apply to them because they can't code to differentiate a survivor intentionally doing it and an actual problem with the game. Similar to how the DC penalty works today.

That is SERVER desync. That happens. It's an unfortunate byproduct. It was NOT a lag switch. That is the point I'm making here. A lag switch temporarily causes a disconnect between you and what you're connected to. Not you and everyone else in a dedicated server. The player is connected to a dedicated server. Not other players.
Ok, this is the last message I will send you, because I feel like you are A. Trolling B. maybe not comprehending.
How this game handles killer/survivor interactions may not be something you are used to. You can cause lag on your end as a killer and still get hits that are not visible on the survivor side, just as the survivor can cause lag and cause the same thing to happen on killer side (survivors can run in place but not take hits, teleport through walls/have erratic movement patterns, etc) while everyone else is in a perfect state. This is not server desync.

@McLightning said:

THAT is possible, yes. But what the OP described is not. The OP claims that a killers lag switch caused HIM, as a SURVIVOR, to teleport to the other side of a pallet.
That's impossible with dedicated servers. Another persons lag switch has zero effect on the connection of another player. Only their own.
This is actually untrue, there are still plenty of instances and clips already on the internet of killers again causing lag, getting hits or even teleporting/picking up survivors back to previous positions they were at during a chase. This still happens, maybe less than when we had P2P, but it still exists. I know from personal experience.
-
@McLightning said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1093605#Comment_1093605
You don't spawn in the killers terror radius; and if you immediately get hit, it's because they found you. As for lag switching, no, it doesn't happen. The games take place on centralized dedicated servers. It's literally impossible for a lag switch to have an effect on anyone except for the person using it, and at that point all it would do is time them out. Please inform yourself on how central dedicated servers work.
Killers can still lag and teleport/get hits when you are miles away from them, intentional or not. I have many clips of it happening to me and swfs.
-
If you close the game during the loading screen by ending the task via task manager or whatever method you choose, you do not get penalized.

I was a 10 killer and survivor and dropped all the way to 18 on killer but 16 on survivor lol. Idk. Anyways playing killer I was getting mostly greens...and boy... assuming some were reds before the issue...you can really tell which ones deserved the reds and which ones didn't. Not saying I'm very good or anything. I just started playing again (maybe like 2 weeks before this "reset"). But I definitely saw some potatoes...then saw some using some good mind games, builds, and other tactics you'd see on videos and such. I was hearing a lot of reds were dropping into greens earlier...is it fun or too ez? I don't think they've fixed it yet,so curious to see people's experiences.
Green rank killers can't complain about getting matched with red ranks if everyone is green.
This rank reset was 100% intentional by the devs and they will do nothing to fix it, not like climbing in this garbage game is hard. I just feel really bad for killers who are actually those ranks.
-
Devs can't even keep you in a lobby half the time when you enter the rift/archives, there's no way those monkeys could code for you to be able to change the challenge midway through matchmaking countdown.
-
@[Deleted User] said:
God as bad as dedicated servers I remember P2P being so much worse. Dedicated is less reliable overall I know, and it can be infuriating, but I'll take it over the huge game breaking problems we had with P2P that ruined matches entirely.... keep in mind there are DC penalties now so those matches would be a nightmare that you are forced to endure, it would be just awful.
It's also easier to cheat, lag switch, and do all sorts of other crap.
They already said that DC penalty cannot exist in P2P. Being able to DC because of match quality should be a choice, and not punishable.

No no no, I'm not talking about blending.
They had 4 gens done by the time I have up.
I'm asking for a workaround when people refuses to finish the game. You could apply the same question for killers that never hook you, and keep slugging and picking you up.
And to clarify, I didn't DC in this game.
You AFK'd, therefore you did not attempt to finish the game. They can still get points from secondary objectives, which it seems if you weren't chasing them or hitting them or hooking, this would have been their only defense from a depip. They could also get points from basement time. So the fact that you didn't actively chase, they would need to get points from some other sources.

I don't believe that report system actually works. Perhaps the killer could open the gates at any point in the match past a couple of minutes. But there couldn't be anyone hooked or slugged.
Blending is a game mechanic, regardless of if they do gens or not, they could simply say they were blending. The in game reporting system is your only defense though, that is the only thing they actually check. However this is not reportable.
-
I wouldn't stare at the trees, this games graphics are #########.
In your case I'd either git gud, or just quit and go play another game. At this point it looks like that's want the devs want killers to do.

For you maybe. The player on the other end is being robbed of the chance to play, get points, and enjoy the game..
devs have already said that slugging is OK and part of the core gameplay experience. you just have to deal with it.
-
Gens pop typically when you are in a chase, knowing where someone is for a few seconds while still actively chasing someone, doesn't really do much. You already can see where the gen pops, you already know where they will likely be going next (another gen), so it's quite useless.

If you're encountering problems during a match then the DC penalty doesn't change anything other than the fact that you'll probably want to play less often.
You would still get stuck in certain places in certain conditions and if it does just let the game run it's course and report the issue so it can be fixed.
If you were getting stuck on certain objects raise the issue and the map would be temporarily disabled until it's fixed, just like how badham preschool was.
there are bugs where the only option is to DC, then having to wait after is just insult to injury
-
2 friends just got d/c'd from game but their character icons remained in game (icons didn't change to DC icon, one was stuck on hook, one just poofed out of existence no bodies) both got the D/C penalty. LOL great game. Can't wait for this to occur with more people.

Here's a thought, quit giving them money, boycott their cosmetics, boycott their dlc [they will likely nerf anything op after a couple of weeks (ie oni, MoM, etc)], have new friends by steam keys from places like g2a or kinguin, etc. If they don't fix the game like they should, then it dies. I love this game too, but its current state is just busted in so many ways and they seem to blind to it. In their eyes 4x survivors buying cosmetics are greater than 1 killer doing it.

Spine Chill does two really strong things.
- It gives you a clutch 6% boost when you need it. Seems small but it can have a massive impact on last second gen finishes or heals that would've been interrupted and it can make risky vaults more reliable.
- This is the major one. It lets you know when the killer is nearby, but doesn't know where you are or isn't focusing you. Without Spine Chill you have to respect the terror radius a whole lot more and assume you've been caught or you're going to be.
or you could get better at the game and not have to show the killer any respect. if you are scared of a terror radius maybe this game isn't for you.
