  • Honestly, Yun-Jin players give Nea a run for her money

  • What if it just added 17 extra seconds to both hook stages and activated automatically?

Oh man, I’ve already lost count of the amount of times I’ve been unsafe unhooked by someone not running BT, and Self Preservation has helped me get away from the killer intending to still tunnel me.

Self Preservation has the same issue for me as Unbreakable.

If you have to use it, you teammates have really messed up or the killer has started to gain a massive advantage.

Also it doesn't counter the #1 perk that it probably should counter: Infectious Fright because it only has a range of 16m when most Killers have a 32m terror radius

  • Personally, I think Lucky Break makes anything Self-Preservation might do irrelevant

Just because people have things to do irl like full time jobs and families doesn't mean they arent dedicated players.

The Rift doesn't take your entire life to complete. It's all about playing regularly. If you're efficient with your tome challenges and always queue during the optimal times for your role to reduce queues, you probably only need to play 30 minutes to an hour every day on average.

  • Ironically none of them, I came to the game in between Chapters because of a New Years sale drawing my attention.

But technically the newest Chapter was Oni, although I didn’t get him until much later and I don’t enjoy playing him.

I'm actually working on a guide right now for him. I guess it's kind of a guide, and kind of not. More informative. I usually end most games at 2-5 gens left. I had to delay it for a bit, because I got ill, but I am feeling better now.

I would be really interested to read it. I haven't been able to find the right balance with him.

My current build that I have some degree of success with is Monitor, Pop, Corrupt and BBQ. But I'm not entirely happy with it

You are wrong though about ruin on Trickster. It's one of his best perks. I get so much value out of it on him more than any other killer. Maybe not blight and stuff though, but it's still extremely good on him.

If you can win on Trickster by sheer map pressure without three genning, make a guide or something.

I play him as an off-brand stealth killer that can occasionally get cool hits with his power

  • Hag, Trickster, Trapper, Deathslinger etc

The campers with no real mobility that win by three genning

  • At least it isn’t a meme iri addon like Triple Blink Nurse

  • I pretty much always use BBQ unless I don’t have it or I’m playing a very specialized build

  • Here’s the right answer:

    Rank 20-16 Survivor Sided

    Rank 16-5 Killer Sided

    Rank 4-1 Survivor Sided

  • Old Legion was pretty much uncounterable... but they took a long time to actually get downs. You could use Feral Frenzy to lower the mending timer repeatedly hitting them until they finally died.

Also, without Feral Frenzy Legion was 110 so they pretty much only threatened anyone when their power was up

  • USE THE SILENCING CLOTH ADD-ON. Preferably on an indoor map. Also, Toy Sword as always.

Play the Twins normally, but instead of slugging for the 4k farm a little bit more and drag it out so you gets enough hits/hooks to make the emblem system happy.

Twins is basically Stridor Spirit btw. Victor is amazing at tracking down injured Survivors because he can follow blood trails, even Iron Will won’t stop him. Try to injure all the Survivors with Charlotte and finish the kills with Victor.

  • I like Trickster a lot because he surprises people.

His time to down is atrocious. But there are a lot of loops you can force your way through with his power where most Killers would have to break the pallet or leave the loop altogether.

  • Trickster‘s Power is still pretty weak mainly because of the eight blades until that gets changed he won’t be able to down at a pace that is consistent with the other Killers.

  • Trickster is still the weakest mainly because his downs are slow even when his power works at a loop a Nurse or Spirit would’ve ended the chase and hooked the Survivor before Trickster can hit all eight blades

  • When people say Kindred basekit, they just mean the Survivors should all have Aura reading while someone is on hook not the 16m Killer Aura. I wish they would specify that.

  • I feel like the key to balancing Trickster is making Main Event actually powerful

  • Doesn't opening an exit gate count cancel DS?

So you can only leave with DS if someone else opened the gate

  • @Dwight_Fairfield said:

Rank reset was yesterday. He got his "buffs" today. Now might be your best chance to get it.

I've already lost 4 games since the "buff"

  • I want bloodpoints personally.

Killer is basically just a grind for my Survivors points.

  • @bjorksnas said:

I mean isn't that arguably blight as well, other than a slight dh bait you gain double both of their mobility as a base power with the same chase potential

Unless you're using the "J-Flick" exploit to get 180 turns, Blight has a decent amount of counterplay that revolves around his restricted turning so he can't cut around a lot of loops.

  • @HotKhoco said:

Technically, any killer can be the best with the right mindset, Killers, while some are better than others, are made this way, for example, someone could be god at trapper but terrible at nurse, the best killer is the one that you feel most comfortable playing.

No. The best Killers are the ones that can have short chases regardless of the skill of the Survivor. Meaning that even against the best there's little difference in the time to down them.

  • @Mr_K said:

The ability to M1 so quickly it can't be Dead Harded

Nurse is the one killer Dead Hard affects the most. All others can bait it out.

There are two types of Nurse Blinks FYI

    1. Blink... and swing
    2. Blink animation cancel insta-swing

The best Nurse are so confident with their blinks they almost always do the animation cancel insta-swing which can't be Dead Harded reactively. The only possible way would be to assume she was going to hit the blink and dead hard before she even reappeared

  • I like the idea of baiting the kick by switching and switching back a lot actually.

Ceremonial Candelabra is probably one of the best addons for that. It’s also just good in general because it makes it more likely you can recover from a missed pounce instead of getting kicked.

Also, remember when parking Charlotte at a loop that if she gets pallet stunned you’ll be forced out of Victor. It’s a pretty interesting mechanic a lot of people don’t know

  • The Lantern because I have it. But I wish I had the Nectar Vial too. I would use them both if I had both.

  • If you hate Sloppy just run Leader so your teammates always heal you quickly?

  • @TheClownIsKing

You could make the same argument for Nurse’s range addons messing with muscle memory... that doesn’t make them bad though.

okay can you explain one scenario where you are able to activate mettle of man without throwing the game? didnt think so

Mettle is good with Breakout, Empathy and Dead Hard.

Plus, a Purple Medkit with good addons every single game. To heal up after taking you protection hits so it doesn’t negatively impact your team as much.

Which is fun but not sustainable long term and most people will run out of triple heal medkits pretty quickly since you lose addons every game.

  • @GodDamn_Angela

This relates to the DS nerf because less people running it had caused a lot of tunneltown games without Obsessions. If more Obsession Perks were good, then even with the DS nerf there’d still usually be Obsessions in games without anyone running DS

  • @Zaytex said:

They should add an obsession every game regardless of perks and then add legitimate mechanic around it, like how Dying Light works.

I feel like overhauling, buffing and reworking the Obsession perks would be more beneficial than adding a default mechanic to the game that messes with the Survivor/Killer balance even more outside of perks.

  • @RyRapsYT

Undying, Pop and Corrupt are what you should prioritize. You should be able to run every Killer somewhat optimally with those options. If you already have BBQ and Ruin

Faster Map Pressure Killers use Ruin/Undying BBQ.

Slower Area Control Killers use Pop/Corrupt BBQ.

The fourth perk varies more based on specifics. STBFL, Discordance, Sloppy, Tinkerer and Monitor are common in that slot though and are good on multiple Killers.

I'm just saying that I personally wouldn't support a perk that passively makes a dumb play risk free. You basically run to a hook vs M1 killer healthy and get hit, unhook in their face, get hit second time and just sprint a away as both of you have endurance (when paired with BT). Completely brainless no strategy, no timing, only perks doing all the work.

As I said, imagine killers having same perk with exposed effect. Hard camping killer just sits there and since he has permanent exposed on everyone around the hook, nobody can ever save unless you give him 2 downs. Brainless, no strategy, no risk perks rewarding low effort playstyles.

I hope devs don't print a busted perk like that again after they did with MoM.

That wouldn't work actually. The perk is only active when you're within 12m of a hooked Survivor so you lose the Endurance the second the unhook happens. So trying to use the perk while healthy wouldn't do anything? Because you take the hit. Get the save and now you're injured with no Endurance. So you just did a normal hook bomb trade...

It's nothing like old borrowed time because its impossible for both teammates the have the Endurance at the same time. One is only while someone is hooked the other is only after being unhooked.

  • @Kebek

The downside is that the Endurance Perk only works as long as someone is hooked. So it makes getting the unhook pretty safe... but getting away with it is pretty unlikely. It's basically giving injured people the ability to hook bomb if someone is about to go struggle.

  • @NomiNomad

You've got it all wrong with Yun-Jin. She's actually a double agent "Survivor." The entity could sense that she was a self-interested person that would enable Killers, which is the "darkness within" she embraced.

She's in the Entity's realm to help the Killers and hurt her teammates, which is why her perks are self-centered and benefit from her teammates suffering. Yun-Jin probably is meant to escape almost every trial and ensure that the other three die.

  • Dead Hard and Iron Will.

The last two slots are my flex slots depending on my mood. Fast Track, Smash Hit, Inner Strength and Spine Chill are regulars for the slots

  • What's the point of Spies existing now?

  • Steve's Perk are all automatically activated.

    Heal Automatically.

    Struggle Longer Automatically.

Help Teammates After an Unhook Automatically.

Yeah they're all pretty bad. But you don't have to do anything complex to make them work. Sort of like Trickster being labeled as Easy. He's horrible but playing him to his full potential isn't hard... since he fully potential is so low

  • its alright. but you have to build around it. running surge with no other regression is way too weak

  • Not that often. I try to take my chases away from where my teammates are so there’s usually little incentive to slug

  • Rank 1 player who's used Blood Pact consistently since it was release back in June. Blood Pact is an awesome Aura Reading Perk. The haste speed is really just an afterthought.

It's great for getting healed and sharing information with the Obsession. You basically give one teammate an extra perk slot since everything is two ways. It's probably the most consistently useful Obsession perk too if you don't want to load into a game where there's no Obsession. Blood Pact isn't broken or OP, but it is one of those perks where you notice it a lot and use it every match.

When I feel like getting around to it Yun-JIn will be the only thing that I get out of the pack. I have no interest in having the Trickster whatsoever.

Look at that two-shot of them at the top of the screen up there. Even Yun-Jin is looking back at him like "what a worthless piece of ######### you are. I'm ashamed to even be around you".

The funniest part about that is Yun-Jin actually does think that about Trickster if you read her lore.

She’s disgusted by him and humiliated to have been his producer and let him get away with a bunch of murders. She literally sent herself into the entities realm to make Trickster pay for ruining her life

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/240081/fast-track-is-basically-a-commodious-toolbox

Its trash perk. a single co-op of a generator from prove thyself saves 7 seconds. a 3 man generator saves 9 seconds, it alone already beats Fast Track on single generator and it can be used multiple times. Also in my opinion, survivors that let killers get more than <5 hooks are bad considering the game lasts about 5-6 minutes at red ranks.

Most of the killers that I face if i have even a semi-competent solo-queue team lose in <6 hooks unless they're playing absolute best killers. The only time this is not the case is when some dude decides that he hates X killer(I.E Spirit) and disconnects early. those games are either over instantly from chain disconnects or are black pip survivor games.

    A. Prove Thyself saves 6 seconds not 7 with two people.

    B. At high ranks, grouping up on gens is a liability until the end of the game with the final gen and maybe the penultimate one.

    C. Good Killers at Red Ranks usually get a decent amount of hooks unless they’re slugging with Infectious or something, which only happens maybe 1 in 15 games or so (I’m Rank 1 and play SWF a lot. I have a lot of experience with good Killers). The real skill is evenly distributing the hooks so the Killer can’t get an early kill.

  • @dspaceman20 said:

No. I'm pretty sure if you hit a great skill check you get the bonus progression but you don't lose a token.

Nope. I have extensively tested it. The only progress bonus you get is from using stacks. Normal great skill check don’t get anything

  • So Killers will never walk through pallets again. It puts all the counterplay in the Killers hands and none of the power in the Survivor to use their perk.

At least right now Flip Flop Power Struggle can be used as an Unbreakable alternative. It would lose that with this change

  • Just like I thought, Trickster can be player like an off-brand Deathslinger using stealth and STBFL.

Deathslinger is still better in every way with that build tho. His power is actually decent

  • Honestly, I think it's a good idea. Finally a built in counter to keys, so if you see one you can do something about it. It's also way less toxic than the old moris

  • Yeah the mending stacks... but if you're playing Legion you really just want to sketches for duration everything else is optional

  • Crowd Control is good on Twins. Gives Charlotte AND Victor some help in chase.

The other chase perks (Enduring, Spirit Fury, Bamboozle) only help Charlotte

1 … 8 9 10 11 12 … 32
