Is this an appreciation thread?
I also want to say I'm not getting as bad of lag spikes when the little icons pop up (for SB, DH, Exposed, etc.) and I wanted say thank you for fixing it so that it isn't as laggy!
-
I believe the vaulting speed was changed to account for the increased base speed, but it's a bit too slow imo

I saw that post as well and it demonstrated a valid concern among players advocating for less toxicity in dbd.
Although posts are usually closed when they break the name & shame rule this one in particular was outright deleted while I was typing a response.
The Streisand effect is in full motion now with people wondering why the mods have gone to such lengths to either protect the streamer in question or prevent conversation concerning the behavior of some fog whisperers.
I'm very interested to see how it turns out, but as we all know from past experience, the rules do not apply to everyone equally and some people get more lenient treatment when it comes to certain behaviors.
Some even admitting to receiving a warning from devs that they're reaching the ban threshold.
Thankfully, the videos still exist and a discussion about them can still occur... even if it's not here.
They can delete posts that break the rules, too. The only thing I don't know about OP's post is that it doesn't seem to be breaking any rules, so I'm not sure as to why they closed it. And they did so without any explanation. Leaves a bad taste in your mouth.

Geez. People should leave him alone.
Idc what your reasoning is. It's unbecoming to harass someone. He hasn't done anything wrong and you'll gain nothing from harassing someone. Just stop.

I might have missed it in the wall of text, but what about Bill mains?
@Tzeentchling9 BIll mains are people who THINK their tryhards
-
survivors are people who play this game as a survivor because they cannot control their own life
Honestly sometimes I switch over to Killer because of the lack of control you have as Survivor.
Jake mains are boring normal people
Have you met a Jake main? XD lol They're typically pretty weird.
Wraith mains are people that are still happy that the Wraith is not the worst but does not realize that he is still awful
Wraith is a good boy, shh.
Pig mains only play Pig to T-bag survivors
Or for the cute squeaks.
And FINALLY, VICTOR_HENSLEY is a whiny, butthurt idiot who thinks that this helps the community with intentional grammatical errors and confusing layed-out post and should actually get a life and stop bringing attention to this game and community...
Be nice to yourself. XD It could have had different paragraphs for clarity, but you're fine.

I saw someone suggest getting MoM if you win 3 chases. So you escape and get healed without getting down, MoM becomes active the next time you can be downed. That way it would require someone actually losing the killer and getting healed multiple times. What do you think of that?
I think having it restricted to solely body blocking could increase toxicity. A lot of killers really don't like body blocking and having a perk like that would just increase body blocking.
EDIT: Giving someone an extra hook stage could encourage more farming, too ('cause you might have MoM) and I could see it as being really strong in a SWF. You close to being in struggle? Yoink! I'm not sure, though.
-
I wonder how many people who've complained about BNP, Insta-Heals, DS, MoM, etc. are in here, defending this build for Spirit with things like "adapt" and "it's an add-on, so oh wells." Some people lack self awareness.
-
But all survivors use selfcare.
This is the only reason, why this perk is useless.
Because survivors run away, if you want heal them.
You get all kinds when playing solo. I've had people angle themselves so that I would go down instead of them getting hit. I've had people run away from me with We'll Make It even while the killer wasn't nearby. It's hard to rely on others.
You also have to realize that selfcare is a selfish perk while autodidact isn't. You're bringing in something to help the team, but not yourself. So if someone else doesn't have a healing perk or can't be asked to heal you, you're screwed unless you have something to heal yourself or perks/map knowledge to be able to work around being injured.
This is a big difference.
The killer perk numbers are so little.
Survivors just get the complete map.
Empathy only activates while the other person is injured (which isn't really that useful tbh. You don't need to know the killer is chasing an injured person across the map and if they lost them, but still run around like a chicken with their head cut off, you could be mislead). Bond is good as you can see your team up close, so you know where people are working on gens, if they're going for saves, where they are if you need a heal, etc. Deerstalker is meant to be used to find the slugs. You're seeing the opposition, so this isn't an apples to apples comparison at all.
With this information sloppy butcher should have 4*33%=132%.
But this would be insane.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't there a no heal meta thanks to sloppy butcher?
I rly dont get it, why survivors run selfcare in a 1 vs 4 game.
Probably because it's only a 1 vs 4 in theory. Your team can be the biggest killers on the map. Even in SWF.
Even when it says 100%, you do still make some noise. I've heard people say they use stridor to counter iron will.
You're making survivors waste time picking up items and give the possibility of deleting an item someone is trying to save or denying their wards.

@Deadeye said:
@fluffybunny I didn't say this is taking game hostage when survivors do. I'm just saying this isn't less scummy, but from survivor view this is awesome play. There's nothing more ****ing me off like getting trapped by a survivor sneaking behind you. That body blocking is legit strategy, Killers blocking is scummy. And just waiting for the comments now that I always hear at that point
And to make something clear, I don't favor the above playstyle, it just should not be bannable if the killer does not get any points, no progress, let all the gens get done, gates open and give the survivors an easy escape.
@Deadeye I'll say this again. The major difference is one role can't get out if they're being blocked and the other can. That's why it isn't against the rules for survivors to block you for three minutes 'cause you should be able to smack your way out and choose not to. And that's why killers blocking survivors for 3+ minutes is against the rules. The only thing survivors can do in this situation is DC.
Again, survivors can't escape and only method of escape is DC. Killers can smack their way out. It's against the rules to put people in a situation where they're forced to DC.

@fluffybunny you say "If people are feeding you kills and running into you so that you get an easy down, you didn't do anything to show you deserve the pip."
That's a wrong concept. Ranking up is not a reward. It's a tool to group players with others on their skill level. If you get a fast 4K it shouldn't matter it's because of survivors being potatoes, you still should rank up, so next time you'll have more of a chance to be matched against better survivors.
@George_Soros I thought that was their logic behind their ranking system. Survivor pips are heavily reliant on your team and the opposition, too. I agree with Reiko. I was just shedding some light as to why people aren't getting pips. It's happening to both sides.

@Deadeye said:
I'd also say this is no hostage, you have several other spots where you can body block one or more survivors. Think of the dead ends in Lery's, where you often can find totems. Or several rooms with just one door and no windows. Pretty dark to hide in it. But if the killer finds you...
Same on the typical hatch spawn in Preschool map, the U-shaped tire piles in Autohaven and and and. It's the killer's (rather scummy) choice to block. Plague can take an unfair advantage of it, all other killers would just benefit if they run NOED, but give up the game on it. As said, only if ALL survivors are trapped, they are taking the game hostage.
Reducing the hitbox would only fix this one on the basement. But I think this is more a kind of bigger threat. It is common to not loop around the basement when injured, to get to know where the basement is early in the game and to work in teams on basement gens.
Just waiting for requests to implement a second exit to the basement because insta unhooks are so goddam dangerous without BT...
edit: btw. have you seen videos where survivors body block killers? Making end game chases impossible or crouching behind a killer to trap them in gaps and stuff? Or healing downed survivors against Freddy cuz he can't do anything against it? That's all legit from survivor view and regarded good play. Even though this really looks super silly when spectating this from a neutral position.
@Deadeye You mean the Survivor who can be downed and killed is somehow blocking the killer...? This is against the rules 'cause the killer is holding the game hostage. A survivor isn't holding the game hostage by body blocking. You can hit them and get out. The only time in this sort of scenario that a survivor is breaking the rule is when you can't get to them. You can't kill and move on the game that way.
Survivors can't kill the killer therefore they can't slap the killer to get free or down them to get free. This feels ridiculous to have to explain, but apparently some people need it explained to them.
-
Did you report them? This is actually breaking the rules.
-
- This would be cool
- Could result in killers tunneling people for being SWF or adjusting their build (more tryhard) even if SWF gets updated to be easier to play against. Besides if we're going to argue that it's okay for killers to get so much information (that they can then use to dodge or tunnel survivors), why can't survivors? It's either all or nothing. It isn't fair that one side is given the chance to pick and choose their games.
- I like this idea. Or at the very least survivors can't use perks their friends are using . Punishing lobby dodging would help force people in a SWF lobby rather than dodging until they get a friend.
- Perhaps survivors on a hook can gain a map-wide walkie so they can be like "someone come for me, killer left." Half of the time what kills you is people not coming while solo.
- They could also make it a percentage for each survivor killed, too. That way you may not be the only on left for it to be useful.
- I'm fine with this, though most of the time they all leave if one DCs. I would just say maybe leave them unaffected as they are now? That way they don't reap a benefit, but don't get punished for someone else's internet going out, for instance.
- I think this is a good idea. c:
- If you can't move, it's likely you're being blocked. I don't think this needs to be adjusted.

I mean if you don't believe me thats your opinion. I'm not sure how I can prove it to you but basically 2 of them killed themselves on hook and the other 2 were simply not very good.
If you don't believe me sure but this was just my rant based off of what happened.
If you don't get all your hooks (they kill themselves on hook), that can impact your points and your pip. Same for survivor, too.
-
First, the only thing you get for ranking is an achievement. If you've already gotten it, it's probably better to not bother. Que time are awful from what I've heard. Second, I believe there's a reason to that. If people are feeding you kills and running into you so that you get an easy down, you didn't do anything to show you deserve the pip. Survivors also won't pip (despite escaping) if the killer isn't good at all and doesn't down anyone or only downs like one person.
-
I quite like the 4 and 5 ideas.
-
I don't camp, but I may tunnel. Depends on if I can be bothered.
-
It depends on if anyone else does, tbh. If one person does, I do too 'cause the red puke is not something to mess with. I usually wait until I'm broken even then, though.

Just because not many people use it doesnt mean it's not useful. By that same logic would you say We'll Make It is not useful?
I use broken keys with those add-ons a lot when I play survivor.
@tt_ivi_99 I've seen some people run the key to see people, but I think pink is generally better and most people assume you have a key you can escape with when they see a key. May increase the possibility of being tunneled or the killer bringing Franky's.
-
It's actually beneficial to the killer if everyone spawns together. You get 2~3 people on a gen and if you pressure them, you're pressuring 2~3 people. Gen rushing typically happens when people are each on separate generators. That's when you get 2~3 gens going off while in a chase.
-
The cloud's pretty.
Rainbow!
Before the eclipse.
-
Bond's better imo. The distance may be limited, but you can see people while they're healthy. This can be useful for chases that involve killers that can one-shot (with perks, Billy, add-ons) and you'll know if a healthy survivor is leading a killer over to where you are working on objectives. On top of that, you can find people better while you're injured and needing healing if they, too, don't need to be injured for you to see them.
-
@TreemanXD Loved End Game 💜
-
What rank are you? From what I've noticed, the lower ranks (12-9) are better with toxicity. A lot of rank 15s aren't actually rank 15 if you catch my drift. Their whole goal is to troll and pick on newer killers.
-
They may have an add-on for it. Calm Spirit is not really all that good, though.

PC, but since the builds should be mostly identical, it should also happen on console.
EDIT: Who the ######### down votes this?
@DocOctober It's possible someone accidentally clicked the "vote down." That's where "vote up" used to be and usually positive comes before negative.

There really isn't a point to playing any role at the higher ranks atm, I don't believe.

@fluffybunny I've been playing since January with non premium Killers where I'd mostly just play Trapper so I've had 4 months no DC's on him then a couple of days after I bought Myres I got my first DC. I'm thinking it was the insta-down.
@SlinkyJinky It could have been an early down. I believe the first survivor to DC on me ran into me.

I had my first DC today -YEEEEE!-
I then proceeded to play as normal making sure to let them rescue each-other and taking count of how many times I'd hooked them to make sure I didn't sacrifice them so they felt like they earned their escape.
@SlinkyJinky Have you just started playing? I swear my first killer game had DCs in them.
-
Depends on scenario. If they do something to miff me, I'll take them out. If the person was on hook dead/death hook, I won't go easy, either.

@George_Soros said:
It's more like, we have different definitions of "balanced", and then the devs seem to have their own way of looking at it too. The way I see it, both killers and survivors should have about the same chances to get a decent amount of BP and pips. But 50% as a desired escape ratio is crazy. Escape should be a very rare event, I'd say about 10%.
I understand this game is moving away from horror genre towards the "horror comedy" genre (Evil Dead... ugh), but I think it's a wrong direction.
@George_Soros You have to understand that true horror would be next to impossible with this kind of game. There's a lot of repeated actions and while you might find yourself frightened every once in a while, getting used to something often dulls to the horror.
Saying that that there should be a lower survival rate is misguided, too. That's like saying survivors should typically escape. There's players playing the other role. Players who'll probably stop playing if they find winning, achievements, and dailies too hard.
-
I want the game to be fun for both sides, but some people do seem to have that goal in mind.

Welcome to DBD, where anything that negatively affects survivors is immediately dealt with, and killer issues are eventually dealt with, after years... See: Decisive Strike. Hatch Standoff. Pallet Vacuum. Insta-blind flashlights. Mid-chase exhaustion recovery.
Some of those listed were more complex issues that required some time for them to deal with and adjust.

@fluffybunny it does count. at least im 85% sure you get a point bonus for it, and that's the trigger MoM is looking for. However, without add-ons his shock can be hard to hit, especially against decent survivors.
Since they nerfed him a while back, i was hoping they might buff the range on his shock therepy to make up for the fact it wont interrupt vaults anymore. It might not have been intended, but removing it definately hurt his ability to counter loops.
@SmokePotion Yeah, I played him a while back and it was really, really short. I remember that. I hope they do give him a buff down the road. I hope Wraith does, too! :D I'd love my Wraithy-boy getting a buff. x3 With so many killers, it feels necessary to have add-ons and I don't think it should be necessary.
-
There's been an issue with windows for a while now. I really hope they fix it. :/
-
I think it's just a different sort of way to play the game. Someone who wants to go on a lot of chases would bring in chase perks, for instance. In this case, someone who wants to mess with generators would bring in generator-related perks. I don't think the 3 gen strat is all that bad. It's still doable, especially if you have your whole team.
-
@SmokePotion said:
Well, not all m1 killers.
Clown can counter it. It's funny to see how hard MoM users avoid his gas. They will give you free hits even.
Wraith has a hard time because he usualy only gets the first hit off his power. Cloaking in chase is a good way to lose the chase.
Trapper has traps. And we all know they are OP, and he is really the S tier killer of the game. ok, is he gone?
Doctor is taking sick days till he can figure out his MoM issues.
Pig Is like wraith, but she brings hats. And hats help.
@SmokePotion With the Wraith point, it depends on add-ons. The one that makes you faster when you're cloaked can be really good for chase, too. A lot of people don't expect you to cloak to catch up.
For the Doctor, does it count as a "power hit" if you shock them and immediately hit them after?
