That nerf was a joke though as long as the boon mechanic is the way it is no amount of tweaking will matter.

I’m not saying if the nerf was or wasn’t enough, I’m just saying they did nerf it and so are monitoring it. If it’s still showing as being too powerful in the data they’ll nerf it again.

Except not everyone can play that due to the rng nature of the bloodweb so you might get 1-4 matches where you can have genuine fun then you can get stuck with web after web of trying to get specific items leading to a rut and people not wanting to play any more.

It’s not quite that bad, past about level 15 or so you always have a purple or red in the web so your odds of getting a variant add-on are actually pretty high. I know I have probably five or six spares currently for instance.

  • I wouldn't be surprised if eventually the devs explore the gamespace involving killers facing boons. There's all sorts of possible perks that they could experiment with on that facet of the game, like perks that

    • Help killers find Boon totems more easily. Maybe they increase the range you can hear Boon totems at and/or show the killer their aura if the killer is within a short distance of it.
    • Gives the killer a buff or that inflicts a condition or curse on survivors when Boons are snuffed. So maybe the killer moves faster than normal for a little while after snuffing a Boon, for example, or survivors are at a penalty on action speed until a new Boon is placed.
    • Temporarily blocks totems from being cleansed or blessed after some triggering event. For instance, maybe after a hook or generator completion or after the killer snuffs a Boon totem all totems are blocked for a period of time. Or you could have a Corrupt Intervention style perk but that blocks all totems at the beginning of the match for a little while to guarantee they see at least some use.

There's all sorts of things they could potentially play around with in the game for perks that involve killers and totems or Boons. And I'm sure if they keep adding more Boons they'll eventually start working on these sorts of things on the killer side as well since it's such a natural follow-up.

  • Obviously I think survivor weapons in general is a bad idea. But, that being said, I do think a survivor perk that allows survivors to do a risky backstab on a killer to stun them could be interesting. Something like

Backstab - Hold down your Power button (M2) for 1 second while not facing a prop to draw a knife and charge your Backstab attack. You may not Run while holding the charge. At any time while holding the charge, if you are within 1 meter of the killer out of their line of sight you may release the charge to attack them, stunning them for 5 seconds. This ability has a 120/110/100 second cooldown. If you take damage your charge is lost and the ability goes into cooldown.

So basically it's an alternate method to stun a killer for a save where you have to walk up quietly behind them and release the attack for it to work. It's risky because you can't be in the line of sight of the killer for the attack to work, and if they see you and hit you then you can't do it again for a while. Overall I think this would be a risky (since you have to get so close to the killer) way to stun a killer that doesn't use your item slot and which can potentially be used two or three times a match if you're especially good at sneaking up on the killer.

  • There is no reason to play Micheal for any reason other than his character.

Except he has, I think, the most fun play variant add-ons in the game (the Mirrors and Tombstones). I'm not really into his base kit, but he's a lot of fun when you use one of the alternate playstyles, something which Ghost Face and Oni and Bubba, etc, don't have.

  • 2 of the 3 Boons aren't overpowered and they actively nerfed the overpowered one, so odds are pretty good if they have a Boon at all it'll be more in line with the normal two.

  • I’ve been binging Burn Notice and every time I see Ash in the Hawaiian shirt I think of Bruce Campbell as Sam Axe boozing it up with mojitos. 😄

(Burn Notice dlc pack with Jeffrey Donovan giving voice over tips to players during the loading screens would be totally out of the horror theme but something I would still pay for. 🙂 )

  • I'm by no means a Spirit expert, but one thing you can try is using the fact that they can hear you to your advantage by faking one direction and then moving another, sort of like faking movement with the red stain and then backtracking at various loops. If the survivors hear you coming one way around the loop they'll react by going in a certain direction, so if you feint and go back they may not realize in time that you backtracked and will run right into you.

Of course if the survivor isn't trying to listen for you then that feint makes no difference at all, it's basically going to be a coin toss what they do.

  • Amanda seems like the most “normal” woman and is pretty intelligent so maybe her? 🤷‍♂️ Honestly this is not a speed dating game I’d want to play though.

You make some good points however I disagree to some degree. I used to run a meme build; forced penance, thanataphobia, sloppy, and a wildcard having to do with being injured like blood echo, hysteria, etc. It worked ok but required my entire build to be around it, obviously not meta. I disagree that it's better than exposed because while I agree that you get to find injured survivors better, injured survivors get access to the infamous dead hard as well as other related perks like resilience, felix's perk that I can't remember (to heal others not themselves obviously) or this is not happening (though thats not a big worry considering no one uses it)

As to the latter points, survivors have Dead Hard when they’re Exposed too, that’s not a difference. Being Broken and thus injured does help if they run one of the handful of perks that gives them a bonus when they’re injured, but I don’t know how common those are compared to the big four of Dead Hard, Decisive Strike, Borrowed Time and either Circle of Healing or Unbreakable or Spine Chill or a couple others for the fourth slot.

  • Also keep in mind there’s 26 killers. I play whatever killer I have a daily mission for each night for instance so on average I’m playing a given killer about once night a month. It has nothing to do with how good or bad the Twins are, it’s just with that much variety the average pick rate is 1 in 26 games. (Some are more, some are less, but 1 in 26 is the average.)

  • I’m curious to see how the killer’s curses will work. 🙂 I never play on the PTB though so it’s mainly just waiting until she goes live for me.

  • To clarify, being Broken for 80 seconds is a strong effect. In fact in a way it’s a stronger version of Exposed because a Broken survivor is guaranteed to be downed on any damage, not just basic attacks, so being Broken is like making the survivor Exposed+ for 80 seconds.

The main hitch is the trigger condition can be tricky against solo survivors who don’t interact much with each other when you’re around. If survivors ignore each other except to unhook while you’re in a chase then you probably won’t get any Protection hits. So the perk is definitely aimed at groups that like to Bodyblock or use Borrowed Time for hook trades when you’re nearby. Fortunately there’s no shortage of players like that, so I’ve found it actually does trigger more often than I thought it would.

The main threat really though is because survivors don’t even have the option to heal that means they’ll do gens because what else are they going to do? So while on the one hand being Broken negates Circle of Healing, for example, it also loses that indirect slowdown effect from the survivor taking time to heal. Therefore in order to work well you have to be a killer player who is able to follow up and down injured survivors relatively efficiently to make up for the fact that you are forcing them to just sit and do gens all game. So if you’re a killer player who finds themselves running into survivors who you can never catch even though they’re injured, the fact they didn’t heal won’t help. You have to be fairly good at catching good runners to be able to fully capitalize on this perk.

Finally that all leads to the question of does the perk need a buff? Hard to say since you’d really need to drill into the data on matches with and without the perk to compare the difference. It’s quite possible this is a perk that average players don’t get much benefit from since they can’t down injured survivors efficiently enough, but stronger players can do well with and it could work especially well on particular killers. If it did need a buff it would probably be easing the trigger condition versus making the effect last longer since it’s the trigger that’s the main weak point, not the duration or the Broken effect itself.

  • I wouldn't word it like the poll does (I've never bought into this line about "it cancels bad plays with a button" being a valid argument) but it is overpowered. In my opinion it should be two separate perks - one that lets you lunge for extra distance but that doesn't make you invulnerable, and one that makes you briefly invulnerable but that doesn't add distance. Both those effects are pretty decent perks, and combining them into a single perk is what makes it kind of OP.

  • One quick tip, don't forget to check for nearby hooks before you pick someone up. Boil Over hides the auras of hooks within 16 meters so if you forget to check then you could be trying to carry them a lot farther than you need to.

But yeah, that stagger is pretty wild! I've had trouble getting through entryways and getting stuck on rocks sometimes while carrying people with Boil Over. I don't necessarily think the perk is overpowered, though. I can only speak for myself, but I know Boil Over survivors aren't even getting one save per match on average against me with it so I don't really consider the stagger broken. It's just something I have to be aware of, kind of like Decisive Strike or Lithe or Balanced Landing, etc.

  • To be fair the "grind" is kind of in your head, there's no particular reason you need level 3 on every perk for instance let alone need every perk unlocked on a given killer, let alone trying to unlock every perk on every killer. If you're more content to play with the perks the web gives you then you're not spending millions on bloodpoints chasing that "catch em all" dream.

Not that I'm against them making it easier for people to get specific perks or add-ons they want. I'm just saying you'll only see it as a grind if you see your main objective as unlocking literally everything when you don't actually need to do that.

Without having watched the video, was this before EGC was introduced to the game? Because if not, flappy cap man could have opened the gate himself.

Yes, he could have opened the door, but it's kind of besides the point of the thread which is that there should be an automated way to have the game go into sudden death when there's a stalemate. The killer shouldn't have to open a door any more than the survivor should have to make themselves visible while they're waiting for the killer to make a move.

  • I think rather than a hard time limit of 15 minutes, it should be something like if neither side scores any points for 5 or 10 minutes then the game goes into sudden death with endgame collapse or something similar. If points are being scored then it's still possibly worth letting the game continue even if it's been 15 minutes.

  • Clown is ok but I think I like playing Freddy slightly more. I always use his fake pallets though. They’re not as versatile but it’s always hilarious when survivors fall for them. 😄 Plus Freddy’s teleport is handy.

Thank you, I'm aware, let's hope that at least there will be doorways next to every window. (and if that is the case, I'm 100% sure that they would be filled with breakable walls)

Most maps have maybe two to four breakable walls, Dead Dawg has a bunch, and Midwich has I think six? Breakable walls never really struck me as being all over the place honestly. I usually just go to the main building right at the start of the match and break the walls quickly to get them out of the way.

I had my normal bloodpoints at almost 1 million, so now with the rewards it is around 3 million. So I can't earn more. Probably I should have spent all those 1 million before 13th. If I spend Bloodpoints where does it subtract first? From the normal or from the rewards pool?

I am not doing prestige, it is a waste of Bloodpoints and the time invested. I don't need those bloody skins. Also those tiny percentage changes are not worth it compared to what I lose during prestige.

Pretty sure it spends the uncapped bp first.

  • My rule of thumb is 10% of people are asshats in general, so I wouldn’t be surprised if 10% of DbD players cheat. But who knows really? 🤷‍♂️

    • Overwatch had around 650k concurrent players at a given time in January 2022. That’s way more than DbD’s peak has ever been, Overwatch is hardly dead.
    • Honestly I think DbD would be better off just removing map offerings entirely. They cause more hassle than any benefit they give to the game.

Victor should be able to vault windows, in Haddonfield there are spots where Survivors are invincible against him.

Just FYI Haddonfield is currently disabled for the foreseeable future per Mandy and its listed on the kill switch list as undergoing a ravamp. So who knows what it will look like when it comes back? 🤷‍♂️

  • A couple of thoughts

    • I think (hopefully I’m not misremembering) that the rewards you get from things like end of the season rewards are internally stored as a separate uncapped pool from the capped pool that you build up from matches. So if your uncapped portion of the bloodpoints is below 1 million you will still earn points after matches, at least until that part hits its cap.
    • Even if you’re at the cap currently, hypothetically if all you care about is points for some reason you can still play now in order to build up your grades for next season’s rewards which would give you another big boost more or less around when Ringu releases.
    • Finally you can always do what I do - Prestige characters and intentionally force yourself to play characters using whatever the bloodweb gives you after the reset. I find it’s a fun way to force myself to use perks I wouldn’t normally consider.

  • How are they overpowered?

  • @Mr_K said:

Name a time when pallets worked.

Well they worked ok on my Meyers’ head last night. 🤷‍♂️

  • 1.Springtrap - I’ve never played Five Nights at Freddy’s so have no opinion on it either way. It is a really popular franchise though so I’m sure there would be a lot of people excited for it kind if like Silent Hill and Resident Evil has its fans, (I also never played those but I do like Pyramid Head and Nemesis in DbD, I think they’re both fun to play.)

2.Jack Torrence - Yeah Jack wouldn’t be the best killer, but I’d love to see The Overlook Hotel and its hedge maze as a location!

3.Leslie Vernon - This movie is seriously hilarious. 😄 He’d be a terrible killer in DbD but if you haven’t seen this movie it’s great, check it out!

4.Patrick Bateman - Again, not an exciting killer for DbD. Also a really, really terrible movie. (I tried reading the book at one point as well and it was hot garbage too, I don’t get the love for American Psycho.)

5.Psycho - Another one that mechanically I have no idea what they’d do to make Norman Bates fun to play, but the Bate’s Motel would be an iconic map

6.Hatchet - Who is Hatchet? Never heard of this one and Google just comes up with “Kai the Hatchet killer” which doesn’t sound like it’s related

7.Predator - As much as I love the movie Predator and love the original game Aliens vs Predator, Predator might be a bad fit for DbD simply because his weaponry is too powerful. I could though maybe see a Predator who intentionally “goes primitive” to challenge itself more when it hunts its prey, discarding or toning down its blasters and focussing more on its cloaking and hand to hand attacks. So with a little work it could be a fun killer.

    8. Leprechaun - Wow this was a terrible movie and a dumb killer.

  • I’m pretty curious what it’ll be since they’ve hinted a couple of times that curses are different from the types of killers they’ve done. If I had to guess

    • Television on the map in places where Jigsaw boxes can spawn. These could be both teleportation sites for her and sites where survivors go to cleanse themselves of curses similar to Plague’s fountains.
    • The ability to curse survivors with negative conditions over time. The exact effects could be anything, including blindness, exhaustion, hallucinations, the killer seeing their auras, incapacitation, exposed, etc. And given how her curses progress in the stories the longer the survivor goes uncleansed the worse the curse becomes.
    • How curses are inflicted mechanically could be anything, but one possibility I like is when a survivor has her in their field of view their curse meter increases, building up tokens with the nature and severity of the curses growing the more tokens it has. With that system she’s be a killer survivors are literally afraid to look at while doing gens or running away. (I’ve previously said this system could make for a great Medusa killer but it would work well here too I think.)

So if it’s the above she’d have a teleport a little like Freddy, slow down a little like Pig or Plague where survivors have to take time to visit sites to do rituals, and in lieu of anti-loop or direct damage at range more of a passive ability that hinders survivors in various ways to make it easier for her to ambush and kill survivors over time by preying on their greed or hubris if they ignore her curses.

Fingers Crossed 🤞! Regardless of what they do I’m definitely more excited about this chapter than I was Silent Hill and Resident Evil in terms of the licenses. Never got into either of those games but The Ring is one of my favorite horror movies of all time.

  • A minor one but I wish the myth Eyrie is a “huge map” would go away. It’s literally the median map size: 7 maps are the same size as it, and about 14 are smaller and 14 larger.

I’m not making any claims about how good or bad that map is for killers or survivors either way. If you don’t like the brightness or the central building or how the gens are arranged, etc, more power to you. I’m just saying this urban myth the map is really large is kind of dumb.

Maybe. Not sure how I'd feel about buffing killers though. At least not in the conventional sense. I don't necessarily want my games to be easier as killer. However, I wouldn't mind if they were slower.

What I'd like is 3rd person killer camera. 😁

On a tangent I do think it would kind of interesting if they had a killer who part of their base kit is they have the third person perspective of a survivor. Personally I'd hate it, I prefer playing in first person perspective (it's one reason I'm a killer main) but there's no doubt that third person perspective is a nice tactical advantage so I imagine they'd be pretty great at finding survivors and gaming loops, etc.

  • Just a guess but I think the most common results are a hex gets destroyed after about the second or third gen is done, so two to four minutes? It's unusual for hexes to last the entire match, but it's also unusual for them to be destroyed before a gen or two is completed. Even the good survivors tend to try and finish a gen first before popping a hex, and also when I run hexes I tend to head in the direction of the hex as the first leg of the patrol so that, if someone happened to spawn near it, I can chase them first and keep the hex around a little longer.

Of course if survivors get scared because, say, I've just downed someone with Devour Hope 3 then if they're smart they start actively looking for them and they go down more quickly. But unless they feel they need to actively search out hexes immediately at the start of the match they'll usually go straight for gens first. Even when they have someone with a Boon (and it's usually not multiple people with them, just one Booner) that person may or may not do the Boon immediately at the start of the match and may do a gen if they see it first. Plus even if they do a Boon chances are good it's not a Hex totem they're blessing but one of the other totems unless I'm running multiple Hexes.

Is anyone else having issues with flashlights? Last few games with my friend, any and all flashlight saves failed cause flashlight did not actually do anything. And YES, we aimed directly in the killers face for an extended period of time, but the beam didnt even shrink.

Probably a dumb question but did you check if the killers brought Lightborn?

For what it's worth I got blinded at a pallet a couple of times tonight so the blinds are working as far as I can tell. 🤷‍♂️

I hope you gave them a very sarcastic: “Yes, playing a jump scare killer in a horror video game is ‘sad and pathetic.”

I know, right? Like if any killer in the game is actually potentially scary, it's Jump Scare Meyers coming out of nowhere for a hit or grab.

  • @GeneralV said:

Blood Warden's position is insultingly low.

I understand that EGC completely screwed this perk, hence why I stopped using it after that damn stupid mechanic was introduced to the game, but it used to be very useful back in the day. As long as you played your cards right, you were pretty much guaranteed to get at least some value from it.

Surely its old usefulness is enough to move it a few positions?

Sorry to disappoint, I wasn't around when Bloodwarden was originally released so I don't have any nostalgia for it (I started playing in late 2019 just before Oni came out).

  • They're different but I don't think the devs have specifically explained if the ratings vary totally independently or if you have a base rating as a killer player and a modifier for every killer up or down from that.

  • If she actually needs a buff I wouldn't complain about her moving faster while crouched.

  • Yeah, I don't have the patience to do that personally as a killer. I'll slug the third survivor if I actually know where the fourth survivor is but if not I'll just hook them and do the coin toss on the hatch.

  • Grades don't mean as much as you think. You can never lose a grade once you earn it (until the monthly reset) so if someone just plays a lot over the course of the last month they'll have a high grade. And if you look at their loadouts there's a bunch of yellow and green perks in there so it's not even obvious how long they've played those particular survivors.

Not saying it couldn't have been a mismatch, those happen. I'm just saying you can't just see a red grade or grey grade and assume much about the MMR of the player.

  • @Aurelle said:

Bloodhound is more of a beginner perk. It can be useful for newer players, but becomes pointless once you learn how to track blood pools. So it's not entirely useless.

Monstrous Shrine, Beast Of Prey, Territorial Imperative, and Predator are way worse.

On a tangent Predator is actually decent on Spirit since she can still see scratches while phased. See a survivor, phase and just follow the bright red road straight to them.

  • @Sepex said:

Most players have all purple perks...

Most new players don’t have all purple. And many players don’t have all purple meta perks. From the original post

1: Lithe, Self Care, Quick and quiet, Iron Will

2: Soul Guard, Unbreakable, Flip Flop, Boil Over

3: Balanced Landing, DS, Boon: Exponential, BT

4: Self Care, Iron Will, DH, Kindred

Look at number 2 for instance, that’s a player that has spent a lot of time getting four very specific perks built around the current “You can’t slug or hook me” gimmick up to purple rank. So no, that’s not a somewhat new player, they grinded a while to get that.

Yeah, you can hit those when survivors are dumb and stay at those unsafe loops on the other side of a pallet, but when they grow half a brain it's ridiculously easy to avoid. It's an attack that depends more on the survivor messing up than your own skill to use it (especially considering it's not even hard to use it).

I use it to ambush people at generators, I’m not even talking about mindgaming at loops. Also occasionally when a survivor occasionally walks to close to me while I’m Undetectable

  • @Labrac said:

She's one of the most boring killers to face. M1 killer, her ambush is ridiculously easy to avoid, people who tunnel with the traps on, winning/losing games due to RNG, old Crate of Gears + Tampered Timer, the whole "boop the snoot" thing was never funny, etc.

Minor point but I almost always hit with the Ambush. I played her again just a few days ago for instance for her daily mission and got a 4k 12 hook game, never missed an Ambush.
