"I'm curious to see how much that notification will affect the chases though. It may be the true killing blow."

From my understanding, the Nurse player will get a notification when all Blinks are back (similar to Trappers moaning when he has all Traps in his hand).

"Next, we’ve added a new sound cue when The Nurse has fully regenerated all her blink charges. This way, you’ll know when you’re ready to blink again without having to keep an eye on the corner of your screen."

So IMO at worst it will be annoying for some time.

Yes, but at high level survivors are already pretty competent against the Nurse. So that will give them that much more control over where they are going, less chance to make a mistake.

Some may do, but I doubt it's what everybody is doing. It can't be everyone gets aura, everyone gets slow-downs, everyone gets 1-shots, ...

Which translate to, when she downs and hook around 4 times all gens are probably gonna pop.. She will be an M1 killer that have to deal with third health state without any instadown, and we all know what that means. She needed changes but this is killing her completely, they should at least reduce the blink recharge speed to compensate or not take away the range addons.

The experienced Nurse will manage, so will the nut-jobs wanting to learn her at all costs.

The others will not play her at all or simply lose.

I'm curious to see how much that notification will affect the chases though. It may be the true killing blow.

... I may burn the thousands of range/recharge add-ons I've never used before they disappear forever/

  • ROFL, as if.

The only issue I may see here is the sound notification of the blink recharge.

The rest doesn't affect me. Most of the time my builds were with only Franklin so ... :p

The devs don't even hit the Acknowledgement button on stuff they actually DO fix, I reported that awful playstation bug last event where people couldn't move at the start of games, they fixed it and never once acknowledged my post. The Milk and Cookies achievement has been busted since September, and the Twins as a killer itself don't work yet aren't killswitched. Unless its losing them money, the devs really don't care about these bugs let alone letting people know they are working on them by acknowledging posts.

So maybe in the next update then ...

Let them also revisit old BNP and insta heals. I actiwant people to just implode atp

    So much suffering in perspective.

    The Cenobite would be proud.

  • Most common I encounter are auto-DH and speed-hacks, subtle or not.

I’m not expecting them to have it fixed over Christmas, but it would only take a few minutes if scrolling on the forum to hit the acknowledgment button, and show it’s actually on the radar of the devs.

    Good point.

  • I think I've played Nurse that day, and I've even slugged several survivors to death. (That day I had the open mouth + white-ish dress skin)

However every single one of them made it impossible for me to hook them. (e.g. they died in a no-hook zone with boil over and/or flip-flop.)

Since it happened in several matches I'm assuming there is some challenge about this, or players are emulating some streamer.

If this rings a bell, then know the goal was to counter the build, not waste anyone's time (especially not mine).

edit: mixed-up perk names. I went against a buckle-up + flip-flop but I've actually tested that guy's combo multiple times, killed his team and gave him hatch.

  • Oh yeah, sure. Let's see new players go against an Omega Nurse so they understand what "OP" actually means.

This is the frustrating part. Every post is pending, have been for weeks. If the dev team does regularly check the boards as it’s claimed, surely one of the 10 posts about this would have been acknowledged?

I don't expect anything happening before January now. I expect most people are on holiday.

Why in the world do you want to look like a lawnmower while carrying a survivor? I’m assuming the point of the perk is for when somebody goes in for a body block, the killer will not get any penalty for failing to miss the hit. And if successful, the wiggle gets paused for a moment.

I don’t think the perk is there for the killer to spam the hit button so they look like a lawnmower while carrying a survivor.

    It was ridiculously fun.

  • It has already been five weeks since my last Hag play?

    Time flies.

And still not acknowledged I see, wonderful.

The timing of swings got changed a tiny bit when they did the big perk overall/killer pass. It's not as crazy as before that patch, but still pretty quick. At this time, working as intended. If your animations seemed really long it could be a bit of animation lag in game.

Ah, that perk was more for the meme than anything else. (It was hilarious on demogorgon)

Too bad, it's one less non-sweaty build to do.

  • @ByeByeQ said:

Works fine for me and I used it 5 minutes ago.

    Really?

I've tried it in the custom match against bots.

Before, it looked like a lawnmower.

Now, it's one hit every second or so. Kind of pointless.

  • @TigerSnake said:

    Bugged in what way?

It used to be, the perk was removing the cool-down after a missed hit (when carrying a survivor).

Now, it does it once, at most. (So, not always.)

  • @Ryuhi said:

The entire map is designed to blend everything as much as possible, which goes "nicely" with the less visually discernable pallet redesign. They're losing their balance in the fidelity vs functionality tightrope.

The entire map is designed to destroy one's sight.

I can't see tracks and I think I see some where there aren't any.

When I'm on that map, I just want the match to be over as soon as possible, hopefully without watching too much at the screen.

  • The chat tells me they are just brats venting their own frustrations in a game. They are as irrelevant as their words.

I rarely verse a team I can't do anything against. Getting them all (or even more that one) before the gens are done is a different story though.

If the survivors are trying to be annoying, I find it best to keep calm and out-troll them.

Yesterday I had a team that was planning the chase loops to locker-stun me while I was chasing another one : stun after stun after blind after stun. Thanks to their choreography, I couldn't get a hit. They probably expected me to get mad but I didn't. I ignored the hits like if they were nothing, I've even feigned to ignore the most "vocal" one.

I wasn't following their script and they've made one mistake.

I've fully taken advantage of it and they've all died.

It doesn't go always that well, but often enough.

  • There isn't really anything wrong with tunnelling, especially if, like me, you find chases interesting and generators boring.

However, not everybody feels the same.

As far as I'm concerned, I'll try to only use an efficient tactic as an answer to another efficient one.

  • I used to avoid them. They tend to rage-quit and ruin the game for everyone.

Now I just hide the names so I get the surprise.

And case in point, I just played a game : one "prestige" 41 TTV , three decent but less experienced survivors.

The TTV fails a dodge and immediately DCs. (I've let the others live and rake ~35K each, just on principle.)

The whole % questions are ... weird.

Yeah. There are AFK-Bots which queue up and just hit M1 the whole game while standing still.

    I had no idea.

  • You know, you cannot please everyody.

I get games where I get praises.

I get games where I get thoroughly insulted. (And I absolutely don't care)

Sometimes, it's for the exact same plays.

One of my best moments though, was as Blight (I was very bad at the time, now I'm just bad). I went into a match, tested the survivors and found a good one, then I proceeded to chase and ultimately kill him (and then it was game over, the others left or I killed another I don't quite recall).

In the chat, the guy I chased was a bit annoyed (but not rude). Then I've pointed out how doing gens was boring and easy enough for a child. How chases were the only thing fun in the game and how I couldn't possibly go against his friends because they were obviously no match for me. (Which was sincere : the 3 were beginners and I had 2.5k hours.)

After that he agreed and appeared to be quite happy with himself.

  • Besides two typos (wrongly placed uppercase letter) I was surprised by the first choice in "cheats encountered in game".

AFK killer is a cheat now?

  • Hopefully never. Not in the state it was on that PTB.

  • It was difficult but doable. Not the most difficult achievement by far.

If at first you don't succeed, try try try try again.

(Took me about 18 training matches then 2 or 3 tries)

  • Unkind ...

It's an achievement for a reason. Some are more difficult than others.

Just be patient and don't expect someone to play in a way that accommodates your current personal objective.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3296195#Comment_3296195

I hate sentiments like this because I feel like it assumes that the person who is agreeing with the content creator is only agreeing because they said it and often times it's used as an excuse to dismiss opinions of others just because they shared that opinion with X content creator. I've also seen people, not necessarily you, call others sheep for having the same opinions, as if they couldn't have ever formed that opinion themselves.

Content creators aren't always right or immune from criticism, don't get me wrong, and I do agree with Scott with a lot of things. I disagree with him too, and Otz, and others - just as I do on the forum or reddit, and it's good to hear different perspectives even if you don't agree with them. This game is pretty subjective.

Yes, this is a more balanced way to put it (streamers opinion). And said in a way less prone to ruffle feathers.

Streamers are only experienced players. Their experience of the game is anecdotal and most suffer from a variant of the Dunning-Kruger effect : they tend to have trouble factoring their own "extra-ordinary" competence in their analysis, which tend to lead to flawed conclusions.

  • Last time I've checked, they didn't acknowledge her more major bugs so I wouldn't hold my breath. (I've not played Hag since)

  • The ticket is closed and the cheater's account has already been banned.

(The other, even more obvious, cheater from the same game night hasn't yet, even if the ticket has been closed, but I'll still give a few weeks)

  • I just got that. It's hilariously bad.

Seeing the guard stick on one corner of the shack when the survivor is inside.

Seeing the guard go the opposite way instead of going through the passage (not even a vault) the survivor took.

Seeing the guard not being able to catch with a survivor as they go to the same speed (could have been a cheater though, I get speed-hackers pretty often nowadays)

    etc

I didn't think it was a bug though.

Bubba will be quaranteed 2K if survivors don't manage to rescue which is very difficult and usually leads to their death. I know this very well...

A rescue is very difficult. But pushing the gens is doable.

Do you have many matches where survivor play that way instead of wasting time trying to save?

  • If being an ass was bannable, there would be a dramatic drop in the player base. 😂

  • Because what I need in that game is children screaming while I'm carefully listening for any killer noise.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/357926/so-when-is-the-killer-meta-changing

    Okay, so.

Here's the thing. 'Meta' just means 'the right way to play the game at this point in time'.

There will always be a handful of perks that are considered 'better'. The higher your MMR, the more likely you are to see people running 'optimal' builds and the more rigid the meta is.

All you can do is shake it up from time to time.

This isn't helped by the fact that a lot of killer perks range from 'rubbish' to 'meh'. There's a reason nobody runs Grim Embrace, Furtive Chase etc.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3293409#Comment_3293409

Most killers just want to win ASAP at higher MMRs. Very few are looking to make things deliberately miserable, they're just playing to what they believe is the optimal 'build'.

Also - not sure why you're making this an Us versus Them thing. A few months ago, they buffed Boil Over and you had so many survivor groups abusing it to become literally unhookable and stalling games out forever.

Hell, I have maybe 1 game a day where two survivors just hide the entire game to be annoying.

There are mean people on both sides.

Not "the right way" : the "most efficient way" or "the easiest way".

The "right way" may mean something different for a lot of people.

For me the right way could mean "the most interesting way", "the most enjoyable way", "the silliest way", "the most difficult way" (although that one is almost always "no perk, no addon").

    About the META.

As @bluerose said, only a few killers can compete without a solid build. I stress "compete", not "win". If I've killed teams using at most one perk and no addon, even as Nurse I can't win against a skilled team with a full build. I don't think anyone can.

I've noticed a shift these last few days. Almost every single team I've versed played gen-rush the gens-before-friends/don't-heal way. Some leave gens early (especially in maps with lots of hiding potential), some commit. This against any killer and any build. This seems to be the current META. It's easily countered by ensuring one hook state (if I leave the hook for a minute, nothing happens, then two or three gens pop, a killer would be a fool not to) then, tunnelling out and going for the next one. With an end-game build, a wipe isn't out of reach.

I find this kind of lame. When I play, I play for chases and mind-games (whatever role I'm playing). I don't find playing QTE on gens nor camping fun. BNPs aren't fun. Flashlights, flashbangs, bamboozling, making the killer eat wood are. I snigger every time a killer loses me mid-chases and grazes me while trying to find me.

For a change in the killer META, a change is needed in the survivor's first. I don't think it can go the other way. If the killer META changes first and make them stronger (to kill faster than gens are done without camping and tunnelling), it would lead to a survivor genocide as most only know that one move. If the killer META change is one that makes them weaker, the role will be put aside by most and we'll go back to long survivor queues.

Even if I don't like the current trend, the queues seem to be reasonable for both roles, so there is some kind of balance.

I think he gets three, on average.

    But still, analogy stands.

At lower levels, the skill you need to counter Killers is more than what most will have. This leads to Killers just winning games.

That's why we have traditionally noob-stomping Killers. Pig, Pinhead, Doc and Legion.

He gets three if they throw (they often do, even my team >_>)

In my experience : beginners against beginners, killer wins. But only because player a killer "M1" is pretty straightforward while escaping it takes a minimum of knowledge. (Except Nurse, beginner Nurse can't win)

(So I believe we agree on this one)

Once the bare minimum is known, it becomes more difficult for killer. Only a few special ones stand a chance. (because the bare minimum doesn't work too well on them)

At higher level, the survivors have control in most matches.

In my experience (again), at higher level, a match is won by the killer when survivors make mistakes.

I don't remember why we are talking about this (tired, need sleep ASAP)

  • @Pulsar said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3293679#Comment_3293679

    No.

The skill floor for Killer is much lower than Survivor.

Average Killers will usually win against average Survivors. Not because they are good but because their opponents AREN'T.

Think of it like countering facecamping Bubba. How much skill does the Bubba need to sit in front of the hook? Not too much. How much skill do the Survivors need to counter it? Quite a bit.

On this particular case, all the survivors need to do is push gens and leave. At most the Bubba would get two kills if another survivor makes a critical mistake.

Or they can throw and try to unhook.

  • You've missed a message in between (which I understand perfectly as I always do that myself)

  • That's one of the first ideas that comes to mind when you realise you can "camp" the exit gates.

Most of the survivors I've versed today weren't too experienced (judging by the moves, not the prestige level) so I'd feel a bit icky using a trick like that on them ^_^.

  • @Solomonkane said:

Probably the lack of information of when someone is going to get downed in chase, and the fact that incapacitated tied to perk is plain miserable.

Honestly the incapacitated part for me is why i hate the perk.

I can understand that. I've got an (imperfect) instinct as to when to let the generator go so it's not too much of an issue for me. I can imagine how Legion with that and thana (and another couple of perks I'll not write here) may be a PITA.

  • Having the experience today, I can tell you I give up if I go solo in a match and I'm surrounded by headless chickens.

The kind to heal next to you.

The kind to unhook right after they've dragged the killer to the hook.

The kind who hide in the corners of the map while you kite the killer for a minute.

I've got a few of these today and I said : no more. I just do my rift/daily then just go break pallets on the killer until I'm dead, usually with only my gens having been done.

    ...

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3290558#Comment_3290558

Oh really? Well it might be surprising you that I am in fact a Nurse (and Billy) main. She is also my highest prestige (P42) and what kind of high level are you talking about? Is is depending on the players playtime? Or just the fact that they are a stacked SWF with strong perks and items? Many of the survivors I play against have over 5000h in the gane some even over 10000h. And a lot of teams I go against are SWF with strong loadouts. Now I also have to admit that it's not always the case. Sometimes there are also soloQ players with under 2000h but many of them have a decent amount experience against Nurses and their pathing is strong.

So no. I don't believe for a second that I would change my tune pretty fast even if the teams wil suddeny get better. I know that I'm not the most experienced god like Nurse player but I clearly have played her enough to know what I'm currently capable of.

Colour me surprised then. It's when you say she can keep up the pace of full meta survivors : I've implicitly added "highly skilled SWF4", which is a mistake from my part, maybe. Against those, luck and a f-up from their part is generally the biggest factor (along with the map). They don't give Starstruck a chance to work (their typical tactics making it basically dead weight).

I think the maximum I've seen was 20k (yeah, I know, the guy must keep the game running 24/7). In my experience hours is only loosely correlated to player skills. (But strongly correlated to ego, they are usually the first ones to give up, see pic). I've been very disappointed when I've versed a certain Trapper main streamer with about 7k hours (at the time) to see him go down fast. (No, not Otz)

    20221204004012_1.jpg

(I seldom use add-ons so prestige is pretty much useless to me, I only sink the points when I'm too lazy to switch to survivor to transform them into items)

  • I kind of love her ... when she isn't bugged.

    So, not at the moment.

She is the most tactical killer IMHO.

  • @Grandpa_Crack_Pipe said:

    And I mean new.

I just had a match against two 30-and-up prestige survivors.. and two survivors I could tell just started playing the game. They had green perks, all general or for that one survivor, and from their gameplay I could tell they were confused and terrified.

So I feel bad for the two very good survivors who clearly got horribly mismatched and let them all go. The default Feng didn't even realize I was trying to spare her, she booked it away from me no matter how much I tried to make friends.

Anyone else spare these teams? Or if not, at least these players. I don't have it in my heart to kill new survivors, they're too adorable.

    Oh, you man as killer?

It's a thoughie. I'm always concerned about how the MMR score will be affected for me and for them.

At the minimum I'll pace myself, spread the pain round-robin style. I'll miss. I'll pretend I've not seen them etc *. I'll also give the hatch.

Sometimes I'll let two live, or I'll even DC (If I don't plan to play more that day anymore.)

*) And sometimes that's their cue to emulate some "toxic" streamer and try to BM me ... Which is kind of funny and a death sentence. It's rare though.

  • @FMG15 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3290345#Comment_3290345

No you don't? Her base power is already so strong that she can keep up the pace of full meta survivors and does not need Starstruck or Jolt. Not to mention that she can still use a lot of perks.

I don't believe for one second you play Nurse, or at least at a high enough level.

You'd change your tune pretty fast.

  • You don't get the notification when she grabs the survivor?

Are you per chance trying to Tango with her?

Starstruck means you need to scram, plain and simple.

In my games, in the off chance I use Starstruck, I get at most one hit with it. My opponents are usually smart enough to avoid it.

I'm pretty sure I annoy more survivors with Franklin than with Starstruck.

  • In my experience it's somewhat accurate.

As killer, I mostly get decent opponents with my good ones, and newbies with the killers I use once in a blue moon (a.k.a. daily) The map is the biggest factor there.

As survivor, solo, I mostly get decent teammates against OK killers and escape about 60% of the time. (And maps are usually helping, as most are survivor-sided)

As survivor, SWF, I escape a bit less and get from lame* to OK killers and escape about 40% of the time (half of my current teammates are absolute beginners)

It's not perfect, but it's good enough.

*) insta-tunneling + camping that get at most one kill if we simply push the gens and leave.

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

Are you 100% sure that you did not have any penalty?

The first penalty seems to be 1 minute now, so if you spend around 1 minute to figure out what happened, your penalty was already gone.

A good point, but I've spent at most 30 seconds on the lobby. There wasn't really anything to figure out.

Basically it went as follow : "#########?" "Well, that happened...." <screenshot> -> Continue."

    Although ...

I don't know when I was disconnected. So if it was around the end of the match and the penalty started there, then you may be right.

There are some weird DCs happening right now. Game inexplicably kicks you out and you get no DC penalty (thank gods for that, it would only be the unfairest thing of all if you did).

Playing killer the other day, I got back to back game where in one I got DC'd during a stun, and in the next one I got locked into a grabbing animation and the survivor got DC'd.

Not a hack as far as I can tell, just the game being the game. =)

I feel like this release is the most bugged one since Twins, without being nearly as bad. To be fair, since Twins the game had very little issues of that nature (as far as I'm concerned anyway).

e.g. A new issue that triggers almost every time: I load the game and after the cinematic*, I alt-tab : the game closes all by itself.

e.g. Last week, I'm in a full lobby, ready to load but still high in the countdown. I get an interruption IRL so I close the game : it crashed.

    etc
