Walk backwards and you have a LOT of control over where the survivor goes actually. Unless the object is significantly large, you aren't going to be able to use it to break the chain. That's like majority of the map, and even on objects that are pretty large he can strafe around the sides and swing early, still hitting you. I've done it. I've had it done to me. If survivors are breaking your chain that much you have to be doing something wrong. Survivors do not have much control over it as you claim.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1220578#Comment_1220578
The differences are:
1) If Huntress hits you, then you just go down. There is no feeling of "I can still do something" because that's just the end of it. With Deathslinger you get the feeling like you should be able to do something, but you really can't. So it might as well just down you instead. The only time I've seen survivors have a lot of control when speared is with macros, which is basically cheating anyways. No human player can fight the spear like that.
2) Huntress can't throw a hatchet instantly, and her projectiles are large enough that she can't snipe you through the tiny holes in the wall (barring the wall clipping glitch). Deathslinger can aim and shoot instantly before you can react, and he can hit you even when you should be fully protected by cover. A Deathslinger with good aim will spear you every time, and there isn't much you can do to avoid it, or avoid getting hit after he spears you.
He is basically just like old Legion. He spears you, you get hit. The chances of you avoiding the hit are very slim, even if there are objects in the way he can walk backwards and pull you away from them. You're only hope is that there is some nook you can get caught in where he can't manipulate your movement.
The thing that separates Slinger and old Legion is the fact that old Legion didn't take any skill to actually be rewarded with a hit or down.
A bad Slinger has a large amount of counter play. I will say, a very good DS doesn't have much counter play, but still does have a bit to him. Old Legion just had none. A good Slinger reminds me of a very good Nurse or Oni in terms of counter play. These 3 don't have much counter play when the player is very good at them.
That's the exact reason I actually do believe that he is fine though. It requires the player to be very good at what they do and fully understand the character they're playing. In this game very good players aren't very common. This is why I believe Slinger not having much counter play is fine. Because it takes a very good player to reach that point. Old Legion didn't require any amount of skill to reach that point so every player you faced could down you. This isn't the case with Slinger. A bad Slinger will get pummeled.
If you were to actually nerf him right now because he lacks a good amount of counter play when he's used by a very good player, he'd be gutted. Any indication of him shooting would make him a horrid killer. He takes plenty of time already to be alright with.

Depends. If you're stuck in a straight line with nowhere to dodge he's amazing, but on a jungle gym, in the shack, or even in the open, a good survivor can dodge it with relative ease.
The thing that makes Demo such a good killer is that he can get hits at Jungle Gyms and Shack with ease if played correctly. His Shred is a very powerful chase tool if the player behind him understands it.

"You can't use niche things as an excuse for people who ruin the game for others because they have a bad temper."
Niche things? XD You're reaching hard with that one. Creating your builds, spending bloodpoints, choosing rift challenges.... all these are niche?
Your ealize niche means that these things only appeal to a small number of people. Are you honestly saying only a small number of people do these things? Brilliant.
"Are you honestly saying only a small number of people do these things."
On a consistent basis, yes. A very small number of people consistently rotate their perks and outfits.
"Yes, it is temporary. But not being able to play the game for upwards of 25 minutes because someone couldn't control their temper isn't good or right."
You listing secondary things you can do in the game doesn't change the fact that it isn't okay to ruin the core gameplay. The large majority of the people don't play the game specifically for the archives, or changing their outfits, or changing their build every game. They play it because they want to actually play against another living being and try to out play each other. You stopping them from doing that for the upwards of 20 minutes because you had a little temper tantrum isn't alright.
-
@Tarvesh said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1214318#Comment_1214318
Yeah. I guess you can spend bloodpoints only during a match. And you can only customize your character during a match. OH! You probably can only visit the Rift to pick challenges or listen/watch lore snippets. And of course, you can only create your builds during a match as well.
Maybe you should about how much more there is to playing the game than running around in a match?
"And you can only customize your character during a match."
A very niche thing. Not everyone has 456 outfits that they change every single time they queue.
"You probably can only visit the Rift to pick challenges or listen/watch lore snippets."
I want to play the game, not sit and get into the lore. Maybe if you could do this while queuing, you'd have a point. But it doesn't pass queue time.
"And of course, you can only create your builds during a match as well."
The majority of the player base isn't switching builds every time they queue. Many stick with one specific rotation.
You can't use niche things as an excuse for people who ruin the game for others because they have a bad temper.

So you get back into the queue to continue playing. Huh... So you didn't stop. The round just ended.
Yes you did stop. Because you're back in queue not playing a game that you should be playing. It does stop you from playing the game. Yes, it is temporary. But not being able to play the game for upwards of 25 minutes because someone couldn't control their temper isn't good or right.

They cannot really do anything about it so they do not have a choice but I will say this. Kindred does what comms can do at a price you have to be hooked. Object of obsession shows locations as well at the price of revealing team.
So why try to justify the free perk of telling each other where the killer is going when there is no downside to it? Its clearly an exploit if u can't already tell by reading the perks and how it has something to balance it out. But go ahead survivor main. Be oblivious to the fact that while the killer chases me I'm telling my team to rush gens while I stall and loop the ######### outta him/her with 0 repercussions
"In video games, an exploit is the use of a bug or glitches, game system, rates, hit boxes, speed or level design etc. by a player to their advantage in a manner not intended by the game's designers."
As they've said before, they have 0 problem with it. So it is intended to be something you can do. What would be the point of SWF and playing the game with your friends if you actually couldn't talk to them?
Talking with friends and playing the game with them isn't an exploit, no matter how much you want it to be.

Just had a game where I was doc on the snow map (I hate that map with a passion)
I want the game to go by fast to get off this map so I just focus on damage and kills with only a gen patrol here and there
but then I notice, a lot of lag and its throwing me off a bit, no big deal as like i said I want this game to be over.
End chat I got 2 kills, one because they decided to try and stick around and heal when they really shouldn't have.
Another survivor comments on the lag, I agree saying I experienced it too.
The legacy jake red rank
red rank surv: nah you're just a donkey tier doctor
this games the most toxic thing I've ever played and ngl it makes me feel toxic at times too. I know its just a game but nothing gets to me more than entitlement.
And its only ever red and a few purple ranks that are like this. Green and yellow are typically nice and chill and ggs around.
I would want a casual and competitive mode
32,364
playing an hour ago
on steam alone would mean that any split wouldn't be the worst thing to happen. Get some of the toxic tryhards to go ham in comp and let me enjoy my demo in casual.
Honestly, getting a draw on Ormond wouldn't bother me too much. That's likely the most busted map in the game. Super uncalled for on the one guys part though. I don't get why people gotta be such ######### all the time. In the end, I think you just gotta drop a GG and leave or just hide end chat. Just focus on enjoying yourself when you play :)
-
My problem with Freddy is just how rewarding he is for how little he actually requires. Snares have huge potential. If they had a bit more cooldown, it would force players to learn specific placements, know the slowdown timing and have to actually outsmart the survivor to land a hit. Currently though, its spam and go. And there isn't really anything the survivor can do to actually outplay that. I wish he took more skill to play because it's annoying just seeing such potential go to waste with his power and noobs just trap spamming and being rewarded for doing nothing.
-
His chase game is absolutely nuts. Now that were seeing maps get fixed, he's going to be even stronger. With a good player, he's a fantastic killer. I think he's perfect the way he is currently.

No they're not. They're just ending the match or delaying you. Only you (or your internet blinking out) can stop you from playing the game.
You missed the part where the queues are insanely long. You finally get a game after 5 minutes just to have a game end very prematurely. So yes, to a certain extent he is stopping you from playing a normal game. You take 5 minutes to load, 2 minutes to get into the game, and then play for a minute or two just to be DC'd on and not actually be able to fully play a normal game. So then you go back to a 5+ minute queue and repeat the cycle hoping you don't get DC'd on again. In total, this can pretty much stop you from playing the actual game for upwards of 15+ minutes. I've had this happen to me so many times. When players of both sides DC, everyone suffers.
-
@Tarvesh said:

No he hasn't. because you go right back in the queue to continue playing the game. All the killer did was end a match early. Youd on't stop playing the game until you actually stop playing the game.
Sitting in a queue for 5 minutes just to have a killer prematurely end the game is a pretty bad experience. He is to a certain extent stopping you from playing the game.

Out of curiosity, were you expecting me to just blindly take your word for it after I already mentioned that I went and looked through his youtube channel to see if there was a number of videos indicating a plague 4k win streak? Sorry to disappoint you, but I checked out his twitch videos and SURPRISE, pretty much identical to his youtube channel. I'm pretty sure you just don't understack clickbait. I highly doubt he was ever honestly claiming he had 116 4Ks with Plague in a row; he was just drawing attention to his video.
His Plague games were somewhat far back, but I definitely disagree that was clickbait. The man is dedicated to getting 4ks with any killer he plays. Awhile back, I watched him very frequently and he's had streaks of upwards of 5 months without letting anyone escape via exit gate. 116 is realistic for someone like him who is so insanely dedicated to getting 4ks.

@Dehitay said:

Are you serious right now? The video isn't even a montage. I knew it was just a clickbait title the moment I realized that, but just to make absolutely sure, I went and looked at the guy's channel. He doesn't have any other game in this "streak" posted. He was just exaggerating how well he does with Plague and used a clickbait title. And even if he was actually trying to be serious about this, this wouldn't be anything close to valid proof of over 100 games in a row with 4Ks.
By the way, for all the ignorant people in this thread calling the OP bait, this video's title is what bait actually is. I'm amazed at how many people have no clue what bait actually means and just throw the phrase around whenever they don't like a post as if they're actually making a point instead of making themselves seem ignorant.
No he isn't. If you watch FunGooses' streams that's where you'll find him making his streaks. He isn't lying about what he does and it's entirely there for you to watch if you'd like.
-
So this is supposed to prove what, exactly? It just shows that you lost a game. You're not supposed to win literally every game you play.
-
At that point if I was forced to play nearly everything I faced, I'd just stop playing the game. If my whole team is just dying and there's still 5 gens up, I'm not staying in the game and putting in a pointless effort when I could be looking for a new game.
-
Stop complaining and appreciate what you get for once.

I most likely will because the Devs are constantly catering to killers. Survivors have received nothing but nerfs for the last 6 months and yet Killers just continue to tell us to stop crying.. to "git good".. "survivors still to OP!". Tell us.. when is it going to be good enough? When you can down us in under 20 seconds? When you only need 1 hook instead of 3? When all of the pallets and windows are removed from the game? When we lose our ability to run? When the Devs give you the ability to see us anywhere on the map permanently?
Survivor Nerfs
Patch 3.3.1 - Insta Heals nerfed, Green Medkit charges nerfed from 24 to 16 charges.
Patch 3.4.0 - Balance Landing Nerfed to remove staggert reduction while exhausted.
Patch 3.5.0/3.5.2 - Lery's Rework (Survivor Nerf to hide totems, remove windows and add more unsafe pallet)
February 10 - Disconnect Penalties - Forces Survivors to have to play through matches, no matter how toxic the killer wants to be.
Patch 3.6.0 - Survivor Nerfs
1) Survivors can no longer sabotage Bear Traps
2) Dropped survivor wiggle progression reduced from 33% to 25%
3) Toolboxes Nerfed
4) Saboteur nerfed (cooldown added) & Hooks respawn faster
5) Addons nerfed to disappear at the end of each match
6) Autohaven Wreckers: Fixed an issue that allowed Survivors to use Dead Hard to get onto tires near a crane (Yet killers can still do it with Lunge)z
7) Breakable Walls added
Dev Update April 2020 - Survivor Nerf - Reduced repair speeds when working with other survivors, maps reworked to prevent survivors from being able to actually escape from a killer.
So to support your argument, you listed changes that were almost entirely necessary...?

I just can't wait to load into maps like the Temple or Farm variants as DeathSlinger and not want to cry lol

There's a difference between just outright nerfing survivors and fixing blatantly broken mechanics of your game. These changes were absolutely necessary. This will actually encourage survivors to become better at being chased. The repair changes were just a slight little touch, but nothing that will consistently make your games worse. They fixed the primary issue that needed to be fixed.
-
This pretty much all but confirms they're going to reveal some form of cross play in the upcoming anniversary imo.

From 44secs to 47secs isn't that noticable. And you will rarely ever find 3-4 survivors on the same gen

I love the music. The whole concept of having music in a chase kind of completes everything for me. I do agree though, I wish some of them were lowered a bit. DS is a perfect example of great music volume imo.
-
I think your list is pretty good. I like how you gave all the killers little attribute ratings as well. Personally the one I disagree with is GhostFace. I think people tend to overrate him. His power is basically just turning off his TR in my eyes. The red glow hiding is accessible to every killer through moonwalking, and if you're already in a chase the hidden TR won't be serving much purpose in my eyes. I don't think his power warrants placement far above the likes of Demogorgon, Doc, or the Slinger. They all have a chase power that can be used to zone, or get hits that a normal M1 killer like GF wouldn't have got. The stealth is also another factor for me because of how unreliable it is.
But, this is just my viewpoint on it. Nice list :)

Have you ever played the game as 4 man swf? 80-90% escape rates is not that uncommon when you are somewhat decent at the game. Balance gets made around solo survivor and not swf. There goes your balance right out of the window, tell me how infinites like the one on sanctum are fine.
In literally several thousands hours of gameplay have I encountered the bug you write about once. Do we count getting stuck as well? As it results in the same in addition to everything you mentioned.
So what you are saying is there are not biased they are just incompetent?
Unless the killer is garbage and you're sweating your complete ass off as a whole, nobody is escaping 90% of the time in SWF. If you're an actual decent killer, you'll still be able to win against them or walk out of there with a draw. The balance of the game is fine if you're actually good at what you do. Players of this game just always want the easy way out. Just to say as well, we just got a screenshot of possibly one of many infinites that are now being changed in the upcoming patch, so that's good to see.
I've encountered this bug many times as a survivor. Which is why I'm not a huge fan of DC penalties at the moment when there are still quite a few bugs that don't allow you to actually play the game.
At the end of the day, they are slow to many of the bugs in the game. But there are a plethora of them. It boils down to them needing more people to iron out the bugs or giving themselves an extra month to clean everything up. It isn't bias.
-
@Endstille said:

Yeah you try to defend bugfixing with gameplay balance that makes alot of sense.
Tell me which bug is as gamebreaking as not being able to use your power as killer on the survivor side. These bugs are in the game for a very long time right now but go ahead. Refrain from using gamebalance to argue anything ty.
"Yeah you try to defend bugfixing with gameplay balance that makes alot of sense."
Gameplay balance would literally be a factor if the devs actually were biased, so yes, I will use it as an example as to why they aren't biased.
Here's a fun bug for you on the survivor side. Not being able to do anything at all! This bug has been around for quite a while. You can't vault, can't do a generator, can't drop pallets, nothing. That's pretty game breaking.
And like I said, if they were biased, game play balance would be directly impacted because of said bias. So it definitely can and should be used.

Cool, the rest is fine then? Take a look for how long they are in the game.
You're here trying to make an argument about bias when they're banning and fixing bugs that make the game unplayable. There's a huge difference. Also there are plenty of survivor bugs still in the game that haven't been fixed in awhile. They're biased to no side, regardless of what you think. Like I said, people strongly hold onto only the negatives, never the positives. If they were biased killers would be all C tier or worse.

Okay
balance aside, lets have a look at bugfixes!
DS didn't work against doctor, everything stop and fix that ######### immediately! (how long was it in the game a day?) Basement bug, drop everything fixed within a day or two?
Sound is broken since when for killers? Nurse has game breaking bugs since rework, one got fixed ( one that affected survivors), stuff people had to pay for is not working like myer's / gf's stalk.
Clown bugged? LUL who gives a #########.
Wake up bug and gamebreaking oh yeah we fix it with the next patch, meanwhile if you dare to use the 2 legion addons you will be banned.
To me this looks biased because it is biased.
Reality is there are never as many people playing nurse, myers, gf or clown who are affected by these bugs when everybody who is playing survivor is affected by the bugs. So yeah their stuff gets fixed it just would be nice to see them actually repair something else too. This is the devs digging their own grave, you know the amount of dlc they push out and breaking other stuff along with it.
The amount of bugs/broken stuff just keeps piling on, same as with triage you have to set priorities, probably via the amount of people playing x and being affected by it. Nothing to be angry about it is just business, i can not even blame them for not caring about it because I do not know. Yet they have to see that it surely does look like it.
You just compared a hostage bug in the Legion mending bud to a bug that increases speed of actions. Big difference. Also, why do you mention the basement bug as if it proves something? It forced you to literally DC. It was gamebreaking. They already stated that sounds are very touchy and break easily. I'm pretty sure it was improved in this recent patch because I can hear the sounds pretty good right now. The only sound issue I notice is that sometimes gens aren't quieter from above or below.

And if that isn't enough? Have a read of this.
Thank you for posting the update which includes Doctor, who is now an A tier killer. Heaven forbid they word it badly. If they were biased they wouldn't have made Doctor into an A tier killer.

The devs made a big mistake when they nerfed Ruin. Because for the first time a lot players saw what many of us have been saying for a while now. The devs are biased.
And instead of listening to our feedback, the devs decided to march full steam ahead.
I think many veteran players are getting fed up with the game. I hardly see any of them anymore.
You can't blame them either. We've tried to give the devs good advice on how to improve the game for the better. But of course like usual our ideas get swept under the rug in favor of the status quo (which is perk updates every few months).
They literally aren't biased whatsoever but alrighty. People love to forget the good things they do and only remember the bad things they do.

So killer has to have perfect angle to protect their damn well deserved hook, but survivor who just has stupid yellow flashlight and a bit of working brain cells can deprive them of their earnings if killer left a little bit of empty space on their screen, which is fully dependent on the downed survivor, because killer can not moove freely their disabled victim for some unknown reason and choose where they want to pick up a survivor.
I mean it's literally as simple as pushing them away and picking up in the opposite direction. If you understand your timing and the distance you pick relative to the survivor facing the opposite direction, you can make a flashlight save nearly impossible for the survivor to pull off.

Crazy. It's almost like if you don't actually get any sort of pressure on the opposing side for 2 minutes they'll do what they're supposed to do. The Demo's mistake that cost him the game was ditching a chase that was easily winnable. Instead of actually chasing around a weak loop, he decided to break it and because he broke it on the wrong side, allowed you to get to the God house. Had he of gotten that down and not made such a bad error, he would have had a hook, which would have made it so 2-3 people weren't working on gens. This alone could have bought him upwards of an extra 2+ minutes.

The reason 90% Survivors use 7 perks is because those perks dont require any thought or skill. The vast majority of the Survivor perks have a use while many of the killer ones are deliberately held back by obnoxious cooldowns, prerequisites, and artificial warnings so Survivors dont cry too hard.
If survivors had more fun and useful perks at their disposal they wouldn't be using the same perks so consistently. The perks are separated horribly strength wise. There are a few in the S-A tier a small amount in the B, and a large majority in the D tier. If they literally just buff those D tier perks there would be so much perk variety. I'd personally love if they devoted a few months to buffing the weakest perks for both sides to finally shake up the meta.

There's a reason 90% of survivors use like 7 perks. Survivors have so much less variety in between in terms of usage than killers do.

He's a very good killer in the right hands. He's somewhat similar to Oni. His power is nuts in a chase. Yes, he lacks map pressure at times but his power can almost be an instadown in many situations. You can snowball pretty hard with him. In the right hands he's a very solid B tier killer.

and why do you think demo is that strong? pretty much all of the C tier killers are stronger than demodoggo
Demo is a very strong killer with the correct player. He's at the bottom of A tier.

Listen, I'm the first to agree with survivor mains that killers are crazy OP and the game is 100% killer-sided. But BBQ and Chili is not overpowered in any way whatsoever. If you really hate it that much take distortion. Then after your 3 tokens are used up start hiding in lockers. If I had to take a guess, you're new-ish to the game (6 months tops) and are still in that phase where you're comfortable moving about and completing objectives but are afraid to loop the killer.
You need to get over that fear. Watch videos of insanely good survivors like Ayrun and Ussylis. See how they move about the map and loop the killer. Once you learn how to loop you'll find BBQ and Chili is only bad news for you when you're the last survivor left.
Game is definitely not killer sided if you're a good survivor, but ok.

Uh.. You're joking, right?
Rotten Fields, Shelter Woods, Gas Heaven, Azarov's (If they know what they're doing), the entire Backwater Swamp, and Yamaoka to name a few.
Survivors have Thompsons House, two variations of Badham, a couple of Coldwind/Macmillan maps only if a god loop is open, and technically Haddonfield but nobody brings BL anymore so its kinda bad.
The majority of the maps in the game are survivor sided. There are maybe only 6 that are killer sided
