Again if it's a casual game then you shouldn't care about any of the BS that people use as an excuse to quit. You would sit and finish the game to collect your points and move on. The fact it's a casual game actually means there is less valid reasons to DC.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1296947#Comment_1296947

    Just. Take. The. L.

It might be 300 ping now, but then the next time it's 250. Then 200. By the time you know it unless you have 10 ping you are quitting the game. One excuse enables the next.

This is a matter of playability. I'm not on the game to do absolutely nothing. I'm playing the game to play the game. Casual or competitive, that's the whole point of a game. It's dumb to expect people to not leave when they're physically unable to do that.

Have you actually taken the time to read my posts? There's a difference between losing and rage quitting and being physically unable to even play the game and leaving because of it.

To be honest, it sounds like you come from a FGC tournament background.

Players here will never understand most of what you're saying. This community just doesn't have that mindset.

Of course they don't have that mindset. Don't expect the community of a CASUAL GAME to be in the mindset of a TOURNAMENT GAME.

If you DC you are a coward. IDC what game you are playing or the level of competitiveness. It's a cop out, a psychological defense mechanism. If you can't even finish a NON-competitive match in a video game with no actual reward, that's honestly pretty sad. You're whole argument is bass ackwards because if it's non-competitive then it shouldn't matter what happens and therefore you shouldn't feel the need to DC.

People DC to avoid admitting to themselves "I lost". Validating any reason to DC that's not an actual emergency is just enabling that behavior and makes it worse.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1296922#Comment_1296922

No bait. Use the experience to learn something, test something, don't just give up. By doing that you just make it easier to come up with an excuse in the future. Next time maybe you get a single lag spike that gets you hit, not even caught just hit, and then you could have kept playing but nope, I lag = DC.

Just use experience when you almost can't even move 4head. I don't know what you're expecting, but when I am literally rubber banding to the point where I can make it 10 meters in about 20 seconds of attempted running I'm not staying in that game. I literally had a game yesterday where I was animation locked for 30 seconds after I held the repair generator button. What was I supposed to do, sit and just do nothing all game? Guess I'm just a coward because I don't want to subject myself to be in a game where I physically can't even do anything.

You're making this way more serious than it should be.

  • @thesuicidefox said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1296907#Comment_1296907

You know playing like that might actually help you improve. Lag is part of any game, just do your best maybe you will learn something.

I'm starting to think this was just bait lol. At least I'm hoping it is.

Still not a reason to DC. Go AFK or at least do your best. The only technical issue where it's acceptable to DC is if your PC/Xbox/PS is on fire.

If I am literally rubber banding so badly that I can't even get to where I want to go, I'm gonna close the game and restart my internet. Saying "do your best" when you almost can't even do anything to begin with is a little foolish.

Doing a gen? Hold the button, and press the occasional skill check.

Healing? Hold the button, and press the occasional skill check.

Mending? Hold the button, and press the occasional skill check.

Searching a chest? Hold the button, no skill checks

Cleansing a totem? Hold the button, no skill checks

Hook Phase 1? Do nothing, just chill. Make yourself a cup of tea if you like.

For real, how much less involved could survivors possibly be in the game that you want to eliminate a mechanic that forces you to pay attention?

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1272369#Comment_1272369

Interesting, you hit the nail right on the head, and then completely missed the fact that you did!

You said it yourself... you've missed on occasion (as have I) and that caused your untimely demise. It does affect what happens in the game, and you just affirmed it, right after saying that it doesn't. Make up your mind.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1273049#Comment_1273049

There's a number of ways to already get around this, the easiest one being to assign the struggle to your mouse-wheel and let it rip.

But if we're seriously going to go down the route of "I can't physically perform to the demands of this PvP game", then can we add in auto-aim 'cos I can't aim that well, and make survivor's auras visible all the time 'cos I'm a little hard of hearing, etc, etc. Where do you draw the line?

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1272534#Comment_1272534

Pay up, I play both at red rank, these days more survivor than killer. You could have done the smallest bit of research and checked either twitch or youtube to see the evidence for yourself. Please make a donation to a registered charity, ideally a child-related one, and post confirmation of such, thanks.

"There's a number of ways to already get around this, the easiest one being to assign the struggle to your mouse-wheel and let it rip."

Thanks for the tip, I'll keep this in mind when I play on my PS4.

No, it means either everyone is petty and pissy that they didn't "Win" the match because he got a 3k and usually people say GG back, or at least something respectful after someone tells you GG OR

    B. All 4 of them had their chat off, which I've never seen 4 people have their chat off.

Okay? But just because nobody chose to respond doesn't mean anything. For all you know they could have left immediately.

I still don't see how this correlates with the original reply saying the one person that said survivors just want killers as punching bags was overstating.

  • I'd love if he was the killer for this chapter. I've always loved the F13 game, so to have Jason in my favourite game and somewhat fuse them together would be amazing.

  • @AceOfSpades1773 said:

I'm not talking about tunnelling or t-bagging at the gate, I just mean toxicity in the endgame chat. Is it really so necessary to #########-talk and insult someone just trying to have fun with the game? It always gets me down when I come across someone like that because I really am doing my best while also trying to have fun. It just makes no sense. I just want to understand why.

A lot of players just react in the heat of the moment unfortunately. I agree it's entirely unnecessary, but unfortunately it will always be a part of online games.

    He's not lying.

Puppers played Freddy today, and it was an enjoyable match and he GG'ed everyone, even tried to start a conversation with them because he let a guy take hatch and NO ONE SAID ANYTHING BACK.

    Not 1 GG, nothing.

So because a group of people didn't choose to interact with someone, that means that survivors want killers as punching bags? Okay.

  • You could make the same case for tbagging. Smacking a survivor on hook or tbagging literally have no gameplay benefit for the person doing the action.

How? Hillbilly and leatherface can practically do the same thing, just not at a distance.

Because Billy and especially LF have a lot of counterplay and specific things you can do to avoid being downed. Iri head doesn't leave many options. You drop a pallet early, you get hit. You run the loop, you get hit. You pretty much have to force a stun at every pallet or you just die. You have to get a map with an insane amount of LOS blockers to really have consistent counterplay against iri heads. Even if the Huntress is bad, at some point you gotta drop a pallet or vault a window or she just catches up to you and rides your back with the hatchet.

  • @Hex_Stalk said:

I have 7 iridescent heads, so I figured for that "Hit 2 survivors survivors with a charged hit from a hatchet" that I'd have a little fun. Literally the second the first person was downed, him and another person disconnected. I am a rank 10 right now and every survivor was rank 4 (So yeah, matchmaking working as intended I see)

Do people really hate it THAT much? It ain't all that common to go against so I just don't get it.

Yeah it's very hated. I typically will just kill myself on hook if I'm facing it. A lot of people just don't play against it because it is a pretty unfair addon.

  • @Victor_hensley said:

    Change my mind, it won't

Yesterday I looped a Doctor for 4 gens. He gave up after the 4th gen popped. My team of solos and I then went over to him and let him farm us for points, and then I force killed myself via EGC. People aren't entitled to empathy from somebody else in a Player Vs Player game, but that doesn't mean there aren't people who show it.

  • Gens are fine. Learn how and when to apply pressure and you'll do fine. The only times gens fly for me is when I play badly and allow them to.

  • Just die or hope the Spirit is deaf. Not much you can do in that scenario.

  • Only time I'll pretty much ever tunnel is if they're insanely immersed or if someone just abuses the fact they have DS.

  • I'm fine with a change. But, all he needs is a minor change. I think the only thing he needs is a bit longer of a cooldown in between placing snares. It would make players have to learn how to correctly place snares and make them play more methodically.

Multiple People- Will there be any QOL changes for solo players?

    "Yeah, kinda?" (Patrick)

The performance of SWF groups isn't that much higher than solo survivors when looking at stats, despite how it may feel. It's a concern, but not enough to be panicking. WIth the upcoming changes to matchmaking (moving to an MMR rating), it will be able to show a performance increase with SWF groups and change matchmaking ratings accordingly. They'll also be able to change matchmaking depending on your group, for a more balanced match. It's not directly targeted towards SWF vs Solo, but it will have that effect. (Patrick)

    Could this answer be misleading...

"isn't that much", "looking at stats", "how it may feel", "concern, but not enough to be panicking"

    and vague...

"it will be able to show a performance increase with SWF groups and change matchmaking ratings accordingly. They'll also be able to change matchmaking depending on your group, for a more balanced match. It's not directly targeted towards SWF vs Solo, but it will have that effect."

Obviously Patrick plays a chilled SWF as the killer Clown but gets a draw with two one hooks so a draw with a de-pip.

Theres a reason why BHVR want to hide information and it's to manage those statistics rather than show end game SWFs or rankings.

    Interesting Notes

    • Perks I ran were Kindred, Spine Chills, Small Game, and Resilience.
    • Surprised I had such a high survival rate. Survived 61 times out of 100 games.
    • 100% survival rate against Deathslinger and Nurse. 80% against Doc and Oni.
    • Didn't get matched up with many red rank killers. Only 22 Red Rank Killers out of 100.
    • Didn't encounter a single yellow rank player but ran into 1 lvl 20 baby killer
    • Only encountered Clown and Demo once each. They both 4Kd. Clown with the Moris.
    • Lots of Huntress Matches. Probably because of Tome challenge. Yet, only 6 Legions?
    • Plague 4Kd in 4 games. People cleanse like mad and everyone ends up getting one shotted to death.
    • 5 DCs/Suicides against Spirit. Way higher than any other Killer. It's ######### ridiculous how mad people get playing against her.
    • A DC/Suicide almost always resulted in a 3/4K. Kill rate stats really do get ######### up with them.
    • Poor Myers with 5 0K games.
    • Bubba will 90% of the time face camp, Insidious or not.
    • As a Ghostface main, it pained me to see almost all of them bringing NOED.
    • Only got hit by NOED like 4-5 times. 3 of those times it was because I waited to cleanse the 5th totem cause I knew it was right nearby as I finished the last gen. As always, someone gets hit right as you finish the last gen.
      • JUST DO BONES PEOPLE
    • Might just be because I'm running spine chills but people just can not stop getting exposed by Ghostface. As soon as I spot GF, unless I'm trying to hide, I break him out of stealth right away. People apparently have problems with this? I manage to pop him out of it every time without fail.
    • I see people complain a lot about Moris but only ran into 4 Killers carrying Moris or any color. They do have a huge impact on the game though. Same with keys.

    Solo Survivor Observations

    • Injured players will crouch nearby the Killer hooking someone hoping to get the unhook. They almost always ended up getting downed and now there were 2 survivors hooked to save. This happened A LOT..Despite running Kindred, I still got entire Survivor teams racing to see who could save me first.
    • Despite running Kindred, people will still come over despite the Killer's aura being visible to all to see to try and save me instead of letting the Killer even walk away first.
    • People constantly loop the Killer back towards the hooked person. They will even go for the hook in the middle of being chased.
    • It really is the worst feeling when you have a gen at 90% then someone leads the Killer right to you and they kick the gen with Pop.
    • Seems SWFs would rather tag along a chase instead of work on gens to try and save their friend being chased.
    • Most of the frustrations playing soloQ comes from your teammates. Killer play style rarely impacted(unless they were camping Bubba). It was all the stupid ######### listed above happening over and over and over again that tilted me the most.
      • It's almost like I'm being punished for running Kindred.
    • Killers "lost" more games than they "won". Maybe this is due to matchmaking as I rarely got matched against red rank killers.

Don't quite know where I'm going with this but probably gonna keep up with this spreadsheet until I get 100 games against each Killer. That'll be tough with the less popular killers.

    Only one Demo

    *sad demo noises*

How so? Because I hate SWF, I'm not allowed to talk about how badly it screws up game balance?

I mean, you can try to gatekeep and push out any argument you can't refute, but you can't actually do so. SWF ruins the game balance, and voice chat is borderline cheating. I mean, look at OoO; it's freaking broken as hell in a Sweat With Friends voice chat.

Oh yeah, but Survivors don't NEED OoO; if they can see the Killer, they can say where he is, at all times. Same with traps and totems. May as well just give Survivors wallhacks.

I like how your arguments are listing the most extreme situations of SWF, in which the group is a SWAT team. But sure, lets just forget that they're extremely rare.

I guess killer is broken too because you can be a tunneling, ebony Nurse too, right?

Does a 3 or 4 man SWF tilt the balance in the survivors favour? Yes. Does it tilt it as drastically as you make it sound? No. Fact of the matter is, if you're a good killer, you will still probably get 2 kills against a really coordinated, skilled squad.

  • @Traslogan said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1278404#Comment_1278404

Well of course, nothing can ever be indicative of SWF being an issue. Nothing is ever to do with SWF, heaven forbid that they be the issue ever.

Everyone defends SWF, despite the fact killers are telling you all that SWF have been a severe problem for years.

The long wait times are because no one wants to play high rank killer anymore, that I am confident of. There is no fun in knowing you'll go up against SWF, they'll cheat with all kinds of info and comms, and you'll be lucky to get more than a single kill. Killers developed metas to combat SWF, e.g. Hex Ruin to slow them down, Nurse as the competitive red-rank killer, and every single time we get our meta wiped out. But SWF? oh they get to keep abusing Decisive Strike stacking, nothing will ever truly hurt them, and devs are happy to ignore it and keep milking it for cash instead.

Keep pretending like SWF isn't an issue, I'm sure the constant uptick in middle-rank killers only playing when they moris or if they just camp with bubba will magically stop.

Long wait times are because of the SWF changes that killers wanted implemented. In low ranks, killer queue times are worse than survivor ones, while it is the opposite in red ranks. Does that mean there's a lack of survivors in low ranks? No. It's because the highest member of the group can pull lower ranked survivors into higher ranked games, drying out the pool of survivors in lower ranks, while leaving too many in red ranks.

It's the matchmaking. Not killers leaving.

Most people make it out to be impossible. Which isn't even close to accurate. So I don't think it's as difficult as people say.

I worded it a bit poorly, but what I was trying to go for is that it is still very difficult and that it is as difficult as people say it is.

It's true solo is more unpredictable than swf but I still don't feel the same level of stress as I do with killer even with the worst team.

Solo is not as difficult and challenging as people make it seem. Those that think it's the worst are those that can't play without swf. To each their own though.

"Solo is not as difficult and challenging as people make it seem."

It is difficult and extremely frustrating. I am almost strictly a solo player when I play survivor. Is it as difficult as killer is? No. Is it still difficult though? Yes.

  • @Acromio said:

That would force survivors to actually be mindful of their actions, so they'll never do it.

This game will always be an unbalanced mess. Accept it and move on.

It would force survivors to never use or go to certain structures on maps. It's the exact same problem killers had with God windows. It isn't okay for either side to have parts of the map they literally just can't go to.

This game isn't unbalanced if you're good at it.

    "Flashlights, hook blocking."

If you struggle with these, the SWF probably aren't even that insane, it's likely just you. Starting off by learning to counter altruistic plays like these by survivors can win you the game.

  • I think his Shred is fine. It's a great zoning tool, similar to DeathSlingers gun. I find it has a lot of uses at various tiles, and I have pretty good success with it.

  • I'd like to see him be changed in some regards. If they could manage to make him a strong killer, but make his gameplay a bit more engaging for survivor, I would be so happy.

  • Uh. Its definitely not an infinite. A strong building with good RNG, yes, but definitely not an infinite. One of the few god windows that remain is on Mothers Dwelling.

  • Honestly I find a lot survivors just play stupid regardless of the perks they use lol

That's completely okay too. I 100% understand that it is not fun to play against. Just think more people need to see that it is a strategy similar to gen rushing with just focusing on the objective of that role.

Yup. At certain times tunneling and camping really just can be the most efficient play a killer can make. I don't mind it in certain situations when it is actually the smart play for them to make.

After all, this game is pretty much all about time efficiency.

  • @Crazewtboy said:

I know I'm gonna get flamed for posting this by a lot of people but so be it. I will just do my best to explain my point of view in a calm manor. So...

In my opinion, tunnelling is going for a survivor the entire time to get them out of the match or slug them even though there is other survivors present for you to go after. If a killer comes back to the hook and sees both survivors running away, but chose to go after the recently unhooked person, that is tunnelling. If a killer comes back to the hook, both survivors run in different directions and the killer happens to see only you which then leads to the survivor getting hooked again or slugged for DS then it is NOT tunnelling as the killer only saw the recently unhooked and had no other options. The killer should not let the only person they see go just because they were recently unhooked and ran in the wrong direction because that defeats the point of killer.

Part 2: Tunnelling is okay within reason. A killer's job is to kill you by any means similar to how a survivor's job is to escape by any means. If the killer sees and injured person and a healthy person, logically you should go for the injured as they are the easier prey and you can eliminate them faster. Tunnelling is okay if you need to get someone out of your game to snowball. Tunnelling is NOT okay when you are deliberately doing it to ruin someone's experience (and in most cases this leads to the person being camped or slugged until bleed out)

At the end of the day, people can tunnel if they want as they paid for the game and tunnelling is not breaking any REAL rules of the game. This is just my opinion on it. Thanks for coming to my TED Talk

I agree. Although I absolutely despise it, I do understand that it is a valid strategy at times.

  • @CosmicParagon said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1275419#Comment_1275419

Again, not an issue if you can properly loop. You can't get camped if you don't get downed in the first place

Just never get downed 4head ez counter

Jokes aside, tunneling is a valid strategy. Although, you have to take into consideration things that happen very frequently. Lets say I'm hook bombed by a guy with no BT and the killer is right on our asses, what am I supposed to do? It isn't as simple as saying you have experience, so you should be fine. Sometimes, no amount of experience will save you in this game.

  • @hanibel said:

Yeah doc is op and they need to tone him down along with his addons that increase terror radius and static blast cooldown along with distressing then he will actually require skill to use

    He's fine as is.

  • @Mew said:

the thing is, an extremely good deathslinger is insane in chase- he can easily down people if the killer player is good enough

but, thats all he has. deathslinger has no sort of mobility or map control at all- and it can be extremely hard to snowball if the survivors split up (or the map has a lot of LoS blockers)

still, with that i think hes in a pretty decent spot. making him 115% would be hell to go against as survivor- and would probably cause a lot of people to quit (like with old legion) so id rather not see a change like that.

I agree. Anyone who says he should he 115% either can't shoot or doesn't understand his power at all. He would be insane with 115.

No, the hitboxes are broken. Moris actually work when used.

That's the unfortunate part, they do work when used.

2 words Static blast. Basically a free bbq and chill. His power should make survivors scream but not show aura PERIOD. You can take that difficulty and change BOTCH TO EASY ASF

Fun fact, there's a warning that comes before his blast. Lockers are a hard counter to it. Doctor is entirely fine.

Not seen you make a single point to any discussion you have posted in yet...

    I know what I said.

It's not skipping hooks, it's a catch up mechanic. Last game I just played a Legion had 1 hook with 1 gen left. Theat person then got Mori'd, and what do you know, they ended with a 3K. Not possibnle without Mori.

You're assuming I don't know what I am doing as a Killer main, and you actually make 0 point here towards the convo.

"It's not skipping hooks, it's a catch up mechanic. Last game I just played a Legion had 1 hook with 1 gen left. Theat person then got Mori'd, and what do you know, they ended with a 3K. Not possibnle without Mori."

That's precisely why moris aren't okay. The Legion literally got dominated for almost the entirety of the game, and they still won because of an offering. It wasn't the killer who earned the win, it was the offering that won the game

Moris are needed in DbD to slow the game down. I don't believe they are toxic and at times without a Mori games can be over for Killer before it gets going.

I disagree that Moris are a problem and should be removed - there may be an argument for making Ebony Mori's even rarer but I think mechancially they are fine how they are.

Moris aren't needed to slow the game down whatsoever if you actually understand how to always do that with the killer you're using. They're just flat out broken, and almost guarantee a win when used.

Who cares it's going to be fun and balanced in PTB. People will buy it in droves. And then it will get nerfed to the point of being useless like just about every other killer released since year 2. Why get excited?

Huh? They make tweaks and changes but it's been quite awhile since they've nerfed a killer to the point of being useless. Only one I can think of is Freddy. They've been fantastic with killer balancing lately.
