I just think they should let killers have 6 perks all the time, as they have to go against the equivalent of 16 perks vs there 4 currently. It would help them out immensely, especially considering survivors have much stronger perks to choose from then killers.

6 perks would be absurd. Also, survivors only have like 5 or 6 really strong perks. The rest are just garbage. Killers have far more variety in terms of good perks.

So, I stated a while ago that I am taking a break. Still havent touched the game in around 2 weeks, but I am still getting on the forums a couple times a day around 3-4 days a week.

When the new dlc comes of, I'm gonna get back on. Idk how much I will play, but I will see what is going on. What I want to know is how you guys are still playing after all this time without a break?

I just love playing as killer. I love the challenge. No need to rely on other players like you do solo, and for me it's a far less stressful experience compared to solo.

I wanna hear a dev give their ETA on this, because i teeter between rank 1-4 killer, and I often have 2 gens DONE before my first hook. One guy sits on doing gens, the other will try to rescue. I don't camp hooks, so i patrol for gens being worked on. When i find the next guy on a gen, the other guy is freed and healed sometimes. Then i have to chase for an unholy amount of time in some places. When the chase ends, i find myself looking at another gen done. so 3/5 gens done, with only 2 hooks...

As long as it takes for one side to out skill the other. More priority needs to be put into skill based maps.

As survivor, if I get ironworks of misery, coal tower or the groaning storehouse, I’m confident I can loop the killer for 5 gens. Autohaven I’ll admit is usually balanced, how some autohaven spawns favor survivors

Coal tower is extremely small so it can favour the killer heavily if you don't get a God window. I think aside from the God window, it should be a reference for other maps. All that needs to change on those maps are the dumb windows imo.

In my personal experience, almost all SWFs I play are trying their hardest to win. As for the maps, Crotus Penn is survivor sided, 3 of the 4 Macmillan variations are survivor sided, most autohaven spawns are survivor sided, although I’ll admit there are some that favour the killer where very little filler pallets spawn in the middle of the map. I agree, the Game is a good killer map.

MacMillian and Autohaven are some of the most balanced maps in the game.

If they do everything you mentioned except increase the gens I'd be fine with that, but if they don't do anything then at least increase the gen time and leave the maps as it is. They can literally fix all the problems this game has by doing mutiple things or doing 1 thing and that's increasing the gen time and making the interaction between the gen and survivor more interesting other than skill checks.

Gen time is a symptom of bad map design. Bigger maps, longer transport. Stronger loops, longer chases. If you increase gen times for maps like Father Campbells Chapel, you make winning absurdly hard against a decent killer. Fix the cause of the problem, not the symptom of it.

I think it only matters if you are directly comparing yourself to other killers as killer and other survivors as survivor. On console we a definitely more likely to lose a survivor because of the framerate. But that will be the case whatever format our opponent is on.

I can play DBD on my laptop at a far higher frame-rate on Ultra than my PS4 Pro can manage. It makes no sense when you see how beautiful PS4 God of War is in 4K AND with a decent frame-rate.

The reason I think it matters is because of how killer is so reliant on time. And when framerates screw you out of hits and cost you valuable time, there isn't any time where that will happen to the other side. At least if you lose a hit as a killer on Ps4, the survivor will likely give you one at some point in the match due to their framerate. And 360'ing the killer on console would be a huge issue considering the ability to spin far faster on PC.

I just don't get how at this stage of the game that these are even issues. They should have been sorted out a long long time ago. There's no excuse for this game to not run at least 35-40 frames consistently.

  • @JawsIsTheNextKiller said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1133173#Comment_1133173

You aren't really at a disadvantage on console. Yes killer is harder with a controller but you won't be versing another killer so it shouldn't matter. Mouse and keyboard survivors are arguably the ones at a disadvantage compared to survivors on controller.

Console survivors will be in for a shock when they verse the two worst killers in the game though - Nurse and Huntress.

Being consistently near 15-20FPS is a huge disadvantage on it's own. But once you consider how limited the sensitivity is and pair it with the crappy FPS, it becomes a massive disadvantage. So much so that sometimes it's difficult to even land a simple swing. Console survivors would still be at a disadvantage due to the frames too. Console can't even reach what a somewhat decent PC can. I can at least play killer and know my opponent is operating the game roughly the same as I am, which at least makes the game more fair. Like I said, if they were to improve these aspects, there would be no downside.

  • @supersonic853 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1128644#Comment_1128644

and who are you to speak for the ps4 players that want faster que times even if its with pc players?

I'd rather wait an extra minute to find a game that is fair than to find a game where I am at a significant disadvantage solely because of the platform I'm playing on. If they managed to fix the FPS and controller limitations as a killer, sure, I'm all for cross play. But until then, I'd rather play the game knowing I have a fair chance in every game I play.

  • @chenais said:

I am a killer player trying to play in a fun way for survivors, but I do not know what survivors want exactly. I want to be fair-play, but I need people to answer these questions, and then I will have a complete book of things to not do to be a nice killer.

    Survivor mains reading this post:

-What is your top 5 of killers you hate going against?

-What is your top 5 of perks you hate going against?

-What is your top 5 of add ons?

-What is the top 5 offerings you would hate the killer to use? If possible, try to say what the killer can do to use the offering without it being a problem for you.

-What are the 5 killer builds you hate going against the most?

Play the way you want. But, if you're actively looking to make the game fun for the other side as well, try to not hard camp and tunnel unless necessary. This in the end is actually more beneficial to helping you win as well because camping and tunneling reduce your map pressure in most cases. Some people hate slugging, but honestly I know a lot of people who really don't care for it considering it's the best way for the killer to actually apply pressure, so try not to worry too much about that either. The only other thing I can think of is just not bringing moris every game or something like Iri Head. But like I said, play the way you want to.

As it stands, there aren't many OP addon combos or killers left in the game so you can't go too wrong. In the end, playing as a survivor is usually stressful and annoying because of your teammates, not the killer.

  • @Beardedragon said:

simply to lessen the outrageous looping. how many are there anyway on the entire map? 15 pallets? thats a lot of looping potential.

It depends on the map. 15 pallets on a map like Macmillian or Azarov's aren't bad. But, a map like the game is terrible because of the safety of said pallets.

  • Because they didn't know how to pressure gens and instead decided to bandaid it. The only times gen speeds become problematic is on terrible maps.

  • @Mattie_MayhemOG said:

There is no reason to remove them, they keep you engaged when you have nothing else going on. You don't have to mash your keyboard/controller like a mad man. I honestly don't see the upside of removing these mechanics.

The upside is that I don't have to mash buttons just for my thumb to get tired or misclick and die. Also, I've seen multiple people state that they have hand or wrist issues that physically makes it so that they aren't able to constantly spam a key or button.

"Unfun"!? That's absurd. The map is one of the better designed to be challenging and yet the most rewarding to get a 4k or to escape. With how the map is laid out, it is easy to outplay killers and get outplayed depending on the skill or knowledge of the map of each person in the game. It is honestly the most balanced map for all killers, taking all power advantages from nearly all killers.

Doctor and Ghostface are the ONLY killers to benefit from the map because of its size and layout. Yet I think I am the only person to bring the map offering for Gideon as the Doctor, and as Ghostface you have to worry about the open-area of the map and being revealed, but it does have the sight-blocking areas of the map to work as an advantage for you.

The amount of safe pallets on the map is nuts, which is the one reason I hate the map personally.

  • @underlord99 said:

Does nobody realize how strong that center building is? theres like 3 safe pallets and two God windows. plus since the map is so small the survivor can almost 100%of the time make it to it .

Now I'm not saying it's the worse map but man it's horrible .

Because it's less likely to get than the farm maps, and because it definitely isn't worse than a map like Ormond. That map is almost unwinnable against any group of survivors who are even as much as decent.

  • Or you could open it yourself... you have that option. If I were incrementally opening a door in a 1v1 situation verse a killer, I would be able to do absolutely NOTHING due to regression. It doesn't need any more changes. You can open it yourself if you want EGC to be triggered.

I think I might have "cried" about insta heals up until the point I discovered moris. Try playing Huntress on consoles against red ranks in the current meta then come back and talk to me about how it takes no skill to hit someone with a hatchet.

I was a Huntress main and even when i was inexperienced with her, I would demolish teams with Iri Head. Keep in mind this is PS4 too. It isn't hard to win with Iri Head when you have 3 shots. It should stay an instadown, but only if you hit them at like 24M.

  • The ones who want Iri Head to stay at 3 are the ones who use it regularly. If a Huntress is even decent, the Iri Heads will absolutely steamroll your team.

  • You have to learn how to play without having to rely on a perk.

  • @SenatorAcadia said:

More experienced players might know why this is a bad idea but it seems to me that in my journey to level 16 as killer I seem to be:

A: Playing a lot of survivors way above my rank (I guess that is match making)

B: Watching everyone wasting time in the exits waiting for me to eventually get there just so they can bounce up and down pointing like idiots until I try to hit them and they run out.

Seems to be that the exit gate is like the paint in basketball. If you are in there for more than 3 seconds (or however long it takes to run across it) then you should get booted back to outside the door, maybe some number of meters outside.

When I play survivor (I got to rank 13 so far) if the door is unlocked I either go back in (if someone is hooked) or run out.

Is there a point reason to hang around? I know that getting run around, hit by people jumping out of lockers, blinded at every palette, and then teased at the end seems like a bad look for the game. No killers means no games and if you are being made to feel like a jerk it seems like a serious flaw. I know EGC was put in because of what Survivors used to do, but can you enforce sportsmanship using code?

I look forward to your thoughts!

Just force them out and don't really pay much attention to it.

Feel like you’re trolling at this point, or not experienced with any sort of social debate. I’m sorry I have to drop this, otherwise this will never end and all I can do right now is explain every post to you because I have already successfully answered everything given. Should add I never said it wasn’t intentional, one of the reasons why talking to you is tiring

Refer to my last couple comments anyone. That wraps it up for this.

The only reason you're dropping it is because you have no actual point to what you're saying. You're calling somebody biased simply because they believe that it isn't rewarding to literally not be able to do anything in the damn game. I don't even know why you mentioned anything about bias in such a conversation.

no I just see it both ways, you’re complaining for the op and anyone affected, but in reality it’s not even a bad thing when you’re rewarded either way and killer isn’t. You’re stuck in a mindset that he doesn’t care but yet he cares to troll in the first place. If he wants any little salt he needs red rank and you just refuse to accept it’s a inconvenience more for him after a few games. He’s doing something so stupid that he’s practically trolling himself.

Ah yes, I too love waiting in 10-15 minute queues just to be body blocked the whole game and rendered entirely useless. Then, I'm lucky enough to leave the game with 1000 points! Sure is rewarding.

Wow, the overwhelming hypocrisy behind that statement is disturbing. It's obvious to everybody that wanting swf to be as powerful as possible is the battle cry of people who want easy wins. Balancing swf is something that people who want balance would say. Why not try actually using this skill you seem to care for so much while playing swf that would quickly counteract any "punshing playing with friends" aka balance.

Because the solutions always proposed literally only punish those who do play with friends. It's so ######### stupid to say "hey, you have friends, you get less resources than everyone else does". BHVR wants consistency in their game, and doing something like increasing gen speed or reducing pallets doesn't fit with that thought. Instead, how about you make everyone else stronger so some people don't have to play the game different than everyone else.

I'd like to see you go against a SWF who gen rush, and abuse an infinite. Please, do that. Record it. I'd really like to see you apply pressure.

Very specific set of conditions there. That's the thing. When people talk about gen speeds, they always find a way to make a perfect scenario for their case that will happen maybe once every 50-75 games.

ill said it once and I guess I have to say it yet again.

THE BREAKABLE WALLS COULD BE SURVIVOR SIDED FOR ALL WE KNOW GAWD DAMN IT.

it COULD be that by default these walls are far too long and loopable and that the killer HAS to break it to make it a more normal loop.

Well, they're apparently using the animation for pallet kicks on it, so I imagine it roughly is the same time as it takes to break a pallet. As long as it isn't like 15 seconds it's a buff to killers.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

They sound like really survivor sided changes to me. Especially the sabo ones. Those sabo ones really have me worried, sabo crazy survivors are why I quit DBD the first time.

That seemed to have stopped so I started playing again.

It definitely isn't survivor sided at all. It isn't even close. Toolboxes are gone now, Plague got a considerable buff and Doc received another one. Trapper got a nice QOL change, and now that killers can break walls, God loops and likely jungle gyms will be rendered considerably weaker than before. The sabo changes are very good, and because the hooks respawn much faster, they won't be doing much. Not to mention they state it's a very limited amount of hooks you can sabo.

I personally don't think that every killer needs to be on the same level of viable for everybody. I think the skill ceiling should be around the same place. Trapper's skill ceiling is in an OK place. Since old ruin got replaced, it is harder to reach that skill ceiling. People come into these forrums after a few easy games as survivor against trapper or not knowing much about how to play Trapper and getting stomped.

If you know what you are doing and don't over extend you territory, then Trapper is very, very viable.

    (Escpecialy with better add-ons)

I think it is fun to have to risk losing something in return of going to a far place to grab a trap. I like games that make me think. Trapper does that the best out of any killer. So, having all traps spawn with you at the start of the match, for example, will only just take away from the methodical gameplay. There's no risk in a lot more things if you have everything. Not to mention the best Trapper players will be able to create a deadzone of 3-4 generators so quick it won't be fun to play against.

Just want to be clear, I like QoL changes. Trapper being able to reset a trap that's on the ground is a good thing and doesn't take away from what draws me to his playstyle one bit.

They'd need to do some pretty major buffs to get Trapper to that point

Learn to play without it and have another perk spot. Only one that i think that did make use of it was doc. The old doc. Since M&A (Similar to Shadow) gave you a wider TR but also a wider FOV. I only used M&A cos of the TR.

Do you really need that extra FOV? All the other killers dont have it by default. Just saying...

I very much can play without it, and have for a long time, but I feel confident enough in my Billy skills that I'm able to run with 3 perks essentially. The FOV is more of a feel thing than it is benefit. It feels extremely nice to have, despite it not possessing much benefit.

Thats my exact build right now. BBQ, Enduring and Whispers is non negotiable but swapping spirit fury for shadowborn although not practical just feels amazing. I think in general killers could serve to get a slight FOV buff.

I completely agree. I’m not against the penalties although it may seem so its just that I too think it’s premature.

Its like the attitude is “yeah our game is fine, we can have penalties now” which isn’t the case.

Also bugs aside, this is Behaviour so they’ll likely put the penalty system in place and call it a day rather than looking at some of the reasons why disconnects were escalating out of control.

Exactly. I don't think anyone is really against implementing DC penalties if the game is actually stable and functions correctly. But, they decided to add it before actually fixing the game breaking issues that caused DCs sometimes. I just think it's so dumb that I may get punished for the game breaking.

  • @ClickyClicky said:

Love how when its a killer issue somehow the comments are sympathetic.

No its not acceptable hence why the system punishes EVERYTHING. Nothing is acceptable other than playing the game to the end.

I mean, I think regardless of the side, if the game entirely breaks it's fine to DC. I think the system was put in prematurely considering the amount of bugs that make the game not playable at times.

After I got two hooks and managing to slug 2 survivors I put the one on my shoulder on the hook..... It paused for a bit. But then when I put it on the hook not only didn't it register on the hud but also I noticed that I was moving at around nurse speed. On ghostface. I couldn't even vault a window or break a pallet, the one who I thought I'd put on hook got crows and then I decided that it was a misery for all of us and decided to dc

I don't see any problem with that at all. It pretty much rendered some of the most important killer abilities useless and your game broke entirely lol. It just sucks you had to be punished for the game literally being unplayable.
