    You missed the point entirely.

Apex has equal oppurtunity to outplay. This is something that Dbd currently lacks.

I personally disagree. Unless you have a map like Ormond or Thompsons house, I always feel at some point I am able to outplay survivors. The problematic maps though do make it harder for killers. Hopefully they stick to reworking maps as opposed to buffing all killers and keeping maps the same. The maps can be horrific.

How much experienced players can counter a killer has never been a factor in balancing.

Hillbilly is from a different design era in the game and we will never see such a powerful killer released today because the devs have got better at identifying when a killer is too powerful.

I mean, the Devs released Spirit, who is better than Billy. They also just recently released Oni, who is almost neck and neck with Billy in terms of strength.

  • @Pennywise said:

How is Hillbilly not OP with a one hit down map traversal power with hardly any cool down? I see a lot of players claiming he is balanced because he has everything he needs to win a game, but no other killer has that so I don't see that as balanced if he is the only killer has has everything in a pool of killers that have limitations.

Because his power is very counterable by someone who has decent game knowledge. The only time he becomes a bit too much is when instasaw is involved. But, he's getting an add on update soon, so that should be resolved.

He did once upon a time. People did what I said to do to other killers too: Give him time, learn how to play against him, and we'll see his true strength. We did and now look at him.

I disagree. His power is almost entirely countered by just throwing a pallet early. By the time you burn through all the pallets, the majority, if not all of the gens will be done. I think he needs something else to help him.

Edit: Are you saying yes that he once did need a buff and now doesn't, or are you saying he does need one? If it's the latter, just ignore my comment, lol

Nice. Clown is certainly in need of a few changes. Poor guy almost has no power.

  • You can't really call this a horror game anymore. It wears off extremely quickly after you play for roughly 20 hours. I'm personally glad the game is more skill based, but I wouldn't mind more jump scares here and there.

Survivor and Killer are basically playing two separate games. I don't think that comparing the two on THAT side of things is fair.

Precisely. And killers are the ones playing the more difficult game. Killer gameplay has far more facets to it than survivor gameplay does. I'm not trying to sound biased, but that's really the reality of it.

No offense, but you did this to yourself when you named the thread "The Hillbilly Problem". Hillbilly isn't a problem. Other killers lack of potential to murderize people is the problem.

I agree. We shouldn't be focusing on the killers who are low priority. We should be talking about the ones who are in need of some changes.

What's smart about holding 2 buttons to win? How is that skilled? How am I not meant to feel cheated?

How are camping and tunnelling considered toxic by a wide part of the community, but not the devs?

I'm normally on their side for most things, but even they can be wrong.

You realize you can apply that exact same button comment to survivors, correct?

At the end of the day, survivor can be hard, but killer does take more actual skill to play. You can't deny it simply because there are more aspects playing as killer. Billy is one of the killers who does take more actual skill to be very good with. And at the end of the day, if you go down to his saw, it is 95% of the time your misplay.

I don't know why you think you should be able to make egregious errors and be away scott free with it against a killer who has a power meant to capitalize on your errors. It's like complaining about Doctor being able to stop loops.

Now you can knock off your downright logical viewpoint right now. You're not allowed to make sense.

    🤣

At this point, the discussion is a little useless to have, but man I really hope they don't touch Billy just because a very small few cannot play against him.

You can theoretically loop most killers for 5 gens. Somehow doesn’t happen though and killers do just fine.

Survivors make mistakes. You’re literally expecting them to play perfect

You don't need to play perfect against a Billy. Just smart. It's simple, don't greed pallets, and don't position yourself in dead zones consistently and you'll be fine. Survivors can make mistakes verse Billy, just not egregious ones.

  • Okay. But it in a literal sense isn't. You may, but by the actual standards of the game, being smart isn't abuse.

  • @ClickyClicky said:

Umm, isn't that exactly what I said? that you need good survivors?

People with thousands of hours running average Billys around the map. What are you trying to prove? should I post videos of the same people just going from instadown to instadown to instadown when they use Billy?

The entire point of the videos were missed. They were to show what they do. It's like Clown. Do you need 5000 hours to throw a pallet early to counter his power? No. It's the same with Billy. The videos showed what you do verse him. You don't need 1000's of hours to learn distances, and when or when not to throw pallets. Also, Ardetha isn't that great of a survivor.

  • @ClickyClicky said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1087802#Comment_1087802

and watch any half decent to good player with actual knowledge about Billy USE billy and you will see them instadown most survivors back to back.

Unlimted instadowns and map traversal....tHe MoSt BaLaNcEd KiLlEr. If he's the most balanced then every other killer aside from Nurse needs some serious buffs.

Hey look, survivors who actually knows how to correctly loop a Billy player!

    https://youtu.be/HVVnLPcE3xs https://youtu.be/hMNWR9CaI8I https://youtu.be/YYYGSSt-Pm4

The first Billy was actually an experienced one too. Unfortunately for him, he ran into someone who plays Billy a lot, and this knows exactly how to play against him.

  • @ClickyClicky said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1086424#Comment_1086424

And yet most games against Hillbilly tend to be instadown, zoom, instadown, zoom, instadown. The fact is most survivors go down to that chainsaw fast.

You NEED good survivors against Hillbilly. Meanwhile the Hillbilly players are often no better than the survivors they’re taking down.

Most people that consider him “the most balanced killer” are the same people saying killer is impossible, Ruin nerf ruined the game, and that everything on the survivor side needs to be nerfed. It tells you what a warped view of balance they have.

Okay? So what I'm getting is, nerf Billy because your teammates consistently out position themselves? I'm telling you right now, watch any half decent to good player with actual knowledge about Billy, and you will hardly ever see them go down to his saw. And no, his strength isn't too much for the skill it takes considering if you don't know how to curve, his saw is almost entirely reliant to survivor mistakes. The people who say he is the most balanced killer are pretty spot on. This is because he is one of the few killers that allow for both sides to engage in a very knowledge and skill heavy chase. The only problem with Billy is instasaw, and he isn't Spirit where chases are literally just a guessing game. If some players would actually learn how to play against him instead of crying nerf, they'd find he is likely the most balanced killer in the game.

  • @PigMainClaudette said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1086429#Comment_1086429

There's using it, then there's only using it while virtually body-blocking. If you use it in a chase to make distance, great. You have skill. If you walk around a rock or a tree holding it until you touch me, that's just abuse, especially since you could have M1'd me twice and hooked me already in that time.

It's abuse when it's all you do. You have mobility, destruction and an INSTANT DOWN in one button.

Ah okay. So you literally just said using his power in an effective and smart manner is the reason why. Good to know. Also, why would he M1 you when you're out of position, why would he use his power to his disadvantage? It isn't abuse to literally use what your power was designed for.

  • @danielmaster87 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1084241#Comment_1084241

And what if 4 gens pop in those 2 minutes? You can't fool us with your "git good" attitude. Matches need to be longer, so more chases can happen. Why, as a killer, do I have play hit and run every single match to stand a chance against THE SURVIVORS?

If you let 4 gens pop in 2 minutes it's your fault. Learn how to find somebody. If all 4 of them are uninterrupted for that long it really is your fault. Now, if they all have toolboxes, it isn't. But they're getting changed now so that really doesn't matter.

Also, I'm not sure what you're referring to by hit and run. Do you mean hit and leave chase or something else?

Did I say that I have a problem with Billies killing me?

I said that some of them abuse the power of their saw.

So you're telling me players using his power too much are abusing it? How does this even remotely make any sense? His power is meant to be a chase tool and a map pressure tool.

  • @ClickyClicky said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1085375#Comment_1085375

Most players go down to Billy.

Heres how the game normally goes...

    • Chainsaw revs
    • Lands on a survivor within 10-15 seconds
    • Swings the chainsaw a few times until the survivor is down (can keep doing this due to only a minor cooldown on his chainsaw
    • Hooks survivor then zooms to the next
    • Hooks them, rushes back to hook as the other survivor is being unhooked

You can say they’re bad survivors but this happens almost every game. So its not just bad surviors, your typical everyday survivors fall victim to Hillbilly.

Sure a 5000 hour streamer will make an average Billy look weak but there’s a huge skill gap there.

The fact is when you get these Billys to chase you most aren’t often very good. But they dont need to be, thats Billy for you.

You need 4 solid survivors against a Hillbilly and unless you’re in a 4 man swf you’re unlikely to get that.

The survivors need to be very good. The Hillbilly only has to be an average player.

Which goes back to what Pigmainclaudette was implying - Hillbilly is too strong for how easy he is to use. A killer that strong should require more skill. As it is now its very easy for an average player to pick Hillbilly and NOED and dominate anyone except a team of survivors with significantly more skill.

I find it interesting that a lot of people find killer too hard and then say Hillbilly is the most balanced killer. What they’re really saying is that they struggle to win with most killers but manage it with Hillbilly. Almost as if Hillbilly is the killer that noobs can pick up and do extremely well with even for an average player.

You can really tell you have no actual clue as to what Billy as a killer is about. You don't need to be a ######### 5000 hour player to loop an average or even competent Billy player. You yourself need to understand how to play around his saw. It's as simple as understanding curve points and knowing his charge times and distances between you and pallets or when or when not to throw a pallet. This, like I said will come with experience from playing against him. It isn't like Spirit where it was entirely guessing. He has plenty of counter play, and when you use it correctly, you will do very well against Billies.

"I find it interesting that a lot of people find killer too hard and then say Hillbilly is the most balanced killer. What they’re really saying is that they struggle to win with most killers but manage it with Hillbilly"

The reason why about 99% of the community find him balanced is because the counter play is absurdly obvious. The only thing I see here is someone who clearly doesn't understand how to play against Billy, not so much killers struggle to win without him. I personally have like 1K hours alone put into Billy. I don't struggle whatsoever without him. In fact, some times I do better without him because I'm so focused on trying to curve at some loops that I don't really realize how much time I waste.

Because of my experience with Billy, I know what to expect when I face him. I hardly go down to saws because I understand how he works.

I've had my fair share of games done in under 5 minutes by survivors rushing the gens optimally but this is just on a whole new level, 4 gens done in about 3 mins exact and Tru3 only engaged in about 2 chases which ended pretty quick up until the point when the fourth popped. The devs always say they want the game to be fun for both sides but the recent patches that have been going through prove otherwise and the lack of bug fixes on the killer side, it seems to me that BHVR doesn't care enough about their killer player base to even mention all the issues that have been present since these patches went through starting from the Cursed Legacy DLC that introduced the sound bugs.

    https://youtu.be/t9b5l72H1yk

    He was Trapper...

A killer who has to waste early game setting his traps, and basically has no power unless you do set up your traps. This is more of a design flaw than it is gen speeds.

When I posted it, he was. And as I have stated in (at time of post) both of The [Killer] Problem series, is that this is just the problem, as I perceive it. This thread has just resurfaced about 2 days ago, and it's annoying for me.

As for your counter point of stick near walls and vaults, I already said that you can't always. There are Hillbillies who will literally walk for long enough to chainsaw you regardless. There are maps where you won't be near anything except two large trees and a rock. Or a chest-high wall. What about those moments?

Amazing how good players never seem to have problems dying to Billies. It's almost like they understand how zoning works or utilize their map knowledge so that they aren't caught in a dead zone.

Billy is almost entirely about having to learn how to play against him, because he has a different dynamic to him than most other killers.

Okay. So if you don't play enough to know how to play correctly, why is it a problem you lost? I know Bubba is a bad killer, and maybe you got a bad map, but it's somewhat surprising you ended up with only 10k.

Okay, but you only got 3 chases in 5 gens, that's likely almost entirely your fault. I get 3 chases in like 2 minutes.

I see a lot more killers running Iron Maiden lately.. the Head On challenge probably doesn't help. Saw a Billy running it last night, that was a first! I run it on my Clown.. Iron Maiden, Make Your Choice, Devour Hope (though sometimes I just bring Pop, since Devour Hope can get broken too early) and Barbecue.. it's a deadly combo but it works just fine haha (and it makes me play differently than I do on other killers with different perks)

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1083102#Comment_1083102

Rank reset is a big problem.. I've been saying it a lot lately, but if they made you reset two rank colors back instead of just one, it would fix the red ranks overpopulation problem.. People don't derank as much as they should and you end up with green ranks in the reds, and that means yellow/green rank killers end up matched against red ranks, which would have never happened before the changes to how rank reset worked.

Exactly. The new system in theory sounded alright, but the actual results have been awful. I'm surprised they've stuck with it for this long though.

  • @Marcavecunc said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1083093#Comment_1083093

Exactly. Same when I play survivor, unless I get tunneled and killed right off, I usually enjoy myself even if I don't win. Most fun survivor game I had lately was doing that No Mither challenge solo, against a nurse, teamed up with two potatoes who died super early in the game and a David who managed to escape as well.. It was so stressful, we were both working all over the map, sometimes together, sometimes split up, so one would do progress while the other got chased. It's one of those games I'd have had fun being the Nurse we played against, playing cat and mouse. Almost got caught so many times too, Iron Will really makes No Mither work better, first try I didn't take it and god is Kate loud when she's wounded! (well then again, all survivors are)

Had another game with a friend a few days ago, she kept bodyblocking me by accident, I think I got hit two or three times because she blocked me at a pallet or window vault haha so I was laughing over discord while she was apologizing over it ;p

I agree. I don't think you need to win in this game to have fun like many people think you do. Also, sounds like you have a lot of strange games lol.

  • @Marcavecunc said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1083076#Comment_1083076

Yeah depends on the day.. It's literally instant killer games even on bloodhunts now, before it used to be around 5, and 10+ on bloodhunts..

Survivor used to be nearly instant, now it's about 2-3 minutes for me.

I mostly play killer too so it suits me juuuust fine. I played more survivor because of the challenges this past week, but I completed the last survivor challenge I had yesterday so I'll get back to playing killer more.

Yeah. I play much more killer than I do survivor, but lately I've gotten back into survivor and realized how paltry the queues are. They just can't find a balance in queues, and then they introduce bad changes. The rank reset one is good example of a bad change. Because you're reset up maybe 4 ranks at most, red ranks are now going to be heavily populated because it is so hard to actually depip consistently. This leaves low rank matchmaking pretty empty. I feel like their old system had its flaws, but was the direction they needed to stay around.

  • @Marcavecunc said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1083070#Comment_1083070

But but, people can't have fuuun!!

I remember a game where I lost badly as killer, but still got good chases and had fun in general, so in the end chat I said the usual "good game" because, you know, I thought it was, even if I didn't get any kills, and the survivors were all surprised.. "I had fun, you guys weren't being toxic, so yeah it was a good game"

I'm kinda the same way. If I lose, I'll take the loss and go. I won't sit and dwell on that one loss because I win a good majority of my games. It seems like a large portion of the people around here just can't take a loss once and awhile.

  • @Marcavecunc said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1083042#Comment_1083042

And made killer queues instant as a side effect, killer queues used to take much longer than current survivor queues do, so I'd say it's still win-win.

Yes it's nice we have instant queues, but it tilted the scale too much. Before there was a short time where queues were around 1-2 minutes for each side, which I think was pretty alright. Now its instant for one side, and 5-10 minutes for the other.

It’s confirmation bias. Also, some players think they’re a lot better than they really are. You’re not supposed to 4K every game. You’re not meant to Survive every game. It’s a tough pill for many to swallow.

Holy #########, I cannot agree more. They forget when they win 25 matches in a row, but as soon as they lose one, they go off on a tangent about the other side. There is one popular streamer very very guilty of this.

######### are you referring to? HUGE opportunity to win? Dude POP rips 20 seconds off of one single gen after a hook. Thanatopobia makes gens take 3.2 seconds longer for each injured person. That's nothing compared to a coordinated team with second chance perks and SWF.

Crutch perks make up for bad gameplay. DS, BT, Adrenaline, etc. require no skill to use but they actively help you win a lot. Hex ruin as you are referring to doesn't do anything. Neither does discordance or whispers. They just help you a bit but compared to survivors perks they all are really bad.

AND don't forget there's 4 survivors in each lobby so they have 4 times the amount of potential crutch perks per lobby which is even more insane.

What? How is BT a crutch perk? Me not wanting my teammate to be tunneled to death means that I'm a crutch perk user?

you still didnt answer my question , what if a killer had a perk to bully survivors ? wouldnt you be complaining ??? I bet you would.

No I wouldn't. Because I don't sit here and think that something that poses the slightest inconvenience toward me is the other side trying to bully me. I think its foolish to complain about the perk. I don't see how someone trying to get a 3 second stun can be compared to being bullied. Being bullied is entirely different than not being situationally aware and continually falling for obvious tactics. I wouldn't get all in my feels and complain about killers having a perk that creates more dynamic gameplay opportunities but has counterplay like many killer players do towards Head on.

  • @underlord99 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1078424#Comment_1078424

the perk is literally only used by SWF to bully and mess with killers. my argument still stands. never did I say it benefited them as you can see from the video OP attached so please dont put words in my mouth.

Yeah, and never did I say that you said it benefitted them. You shouldn't be complaning about a perk that doesn't have any real benefit to survivors. Would you rather them be using Dead Hard? I swear man, people will literally get so in their feels and complain about literally everything that poses the slightest inconvenience toward them. It's an average perk that has counter play, and actually adds some different gameplay opportunities for both sides, while maintaining the ability to be entirely countered by the killer.

If you get "buLliEd" by Head On, it's your problem. There becomes a point in the match where you should be situationally aware enough so that you don't fall for 27 Head Ons in a match.

just think , what if the devs created a perk for killers just to bully survivors ?

Okay. But it hardly presents any benefit to the survivors to pull off, and half of the time it's very easy to spot. Man, why do people get so in their feelings about an average perk lmao.

  • "Guys, the survivors had fun even though it really didn't benefit them in an way, this isn't okay."

  • As you swing push the right stick directly to the right. It could possibly be a problem with your controller if this doesn't work.

If the flick was on console, then he would be better than billy.

    The flick is on console.

Didnt say keep him the same just agreeing that he doesnt need nerfs.

As for billy being the most balanced....lmao. That old meme.

    LF’s chainsaw is a balanced version of Hillbillys. Instadowns are incredibly powerful that’s normally why they come with restrictions;

    Haunted grounds - time limit

Make your choice - time limit

Devour hope - Need 3 hooks before totem destroyed

Myers - time limit, needs to stalk first

Ghostface - time limit, needs to stalk first

Oni - Time limit, needs to collect blood first

Leatherface - Unlimited uses and on demand chainsaw, but slows him down making it harder to hit and a hefty time penalty if you miss

Hillbilly - Unlimited uses and on demand chainsaw. Still able to keep pace with a survivor while using it and only a minor penalty for a missed swing.

You’re not meant to be getting an instadown on every hit which is what any decent Hillbilly gets. Killer mains have a warped view of balance.

Okay? And it's your problem and failure if you're going down to his saw consistently. A good player won't find themself going down too often to a chainsaw. LF's power is literally the most useless version of an instadown there is. It relies on the player being absolutely clueless. You can definitely tell that you don't do well or understand how to play correctly against Billy players.

Leatherface basekit is fine, it’s just Hillbilly who needs to be nerfed into the ground.

I have faith in you BHVR 👌do what is right for the game.

So, keep arguably the weakest killer in the game the same. But you nerf probably the most balanced killer in the game...?

    Ok

I've always found the use of psychological attacks when it comes to competitive games to be a weak excuse to be an #########. Fact is, if you are more skilled than your opponent either mechanically, or strategy wise, you'll win without the use of "getting into your opponent's head". Competitions exist to test for skill in games/sports, not how effectively you can mess with the other person's mental state.

You aren't being an ######### by mashing a key. And if you get upset by someone mashing a key, you likely shouldn't be playing many PVP style games because they're all ridden with some type of key mashing.

  • Clown. Throw bottle the the ground, loop around almost without a power.
