On one hand I wouldn't mind survivors keeping them on death, but on the other hand it could promote suicides, they should allow it, but put an easy to fullfill condition that ensures they dont screw over the team, not sure how that would look like though.
Another neat feature would be a global sound when a new pedestal spawns. That way you know that old areas may have it now.
I think the best way is to give an incentive to survive with it but still give the cosmetic to anyone who grabs ones regardless of surviving. Like a BP multiplier (x1.3? x1.5?) or just a lot of bonus BP. This way you're still encouraged to grab them for the whole event and you will want to live with it as opposed to just suicide hooking.
Right now an extra 500BP for finishing with a crown aint #########.

The second obviously. The crowns don't look good on killers unless they are wearing the default outfit or prestige. The best crowns would go to Dwight and Legion, I'd say.
I'm glad his snack self got a good crown because I don't have many cosmetics for my boy and this one is pretty cool tbh.

There are also anniversary event items if you hadn't noticed.
Don't bring them in if you're scared to lose them? The same as every other item.
-
Why? It's not like you need to hold the crown to get it.

But you'll never see it in-game or anything, so eh. Just stare at it in the cosmetics screen.
No. That's a weak argument. There's cosmetics for a reason, I want to be able to use them effectively just as survivors should be able to.

This is probably a stupid question but did you photoshop that or is it real
I used Gimp to edit it real quick.

My only thought on them is:
1) Killers can't see most of their cosmetics anyway.
2) Do survivors really want a shiny, floating, glowing thing around their head all the time?
Tell me which one looks better.
-
Hmmmm if only they could be added to other heads that don't have that same hair problem...
HMMMM BHVR?
-
I usually go in with the mentality that I'll lose while trying to find the crown. Once I have found and obtained one I play normally.
Maybe sometimes I'll let everyone live if they aren't being sweaty or r00d. Thinking about letting glowing non-licensed survivors go too.

This is my first event since I got the game and I HATE IT. It has turned the game into an unfun-fest. Other games that I've played (League of Legends and Overwatch) always had events that made the game more fun and made me want to play more. This event has made me want to stop playing, despite just getting the game.
Are all events this bad? Because I think the devs ######### up BIG TIME with this one.
The first few events were pretty solid. It's been like a year or 2 since the last event where most everyone was happy with it.
They're really close this time though. They just need to fix the locked halo on default heads and the survivors means of obtaining the crowns and it's actually a pretty well done one considering how awful some of the generator and hook based ones used to be.
-
@DetailedDetriment said:
I'd love to put the crown on the bridal nurse outfit.
Yes I'd love this on many killers especially Nurse. The default head is so ugly with some skins I'd rather just have the option to get the Halo on whatever I want.
Tell me which one looks better and not a miss matched nightmare.
I've also made this same thread, so I doubt this one will get a attention/response sadly.
-
I understand they are trying to make it pretty easy to get them hence the killer requirement simply being acquire and finish the game with a crown. For survivors they don't want to encourage any one particular part of the gameplay except finishing the game. I agree it's not the right solution but I'm not sure on a better one yet. Maybe giving a large point boost for surviving with it but still giving the cosmetic even if you die? To incentive trying to survive with it but not requiring it.

Photoshop/Gimp it on what your ideal outfit is with the Halo in this thread. Show how jarring it is with the default head and how much better it would be with the halo on your chosen head.

The login reward is different from the crown. It's the fancy Deathslinger outfit you'll see in the event trailer. You don't need to play the Deathslinger to get that outfit, you just need to login. You will need to play him if you want the crown, though.
Totally forgot about those, my bad.

Danced around again without so much as a 'no'
Damned again.
-
As much ######### as I have given the team over the years, I do believe they are capable of making this game truly great.
Bethesda is intent on burning the very ground they're fixed upon.
-
@Peanits said:
Yes, you do. It'll be added to your inventory and you'll be able to use it if you ever decide to unlock the Deathslinger.
How could you possibly get it though if you have to play a game as that character and collect the crown to obtain it?
-
@Iudex_Nemesis said:
I got one for trapper. I just partolled the map until I found one. Yeah I threw the match but at least it's easier than survivor.
I've been going in expecting to throw and spend all game looking for the crown. Usually though I find it fairly early and then play regularly unless they are trying to farm, which doesn't usually happen. By the time I've found one though usually a gen or 2 is gone :(
-
I wanted to get into IdentityV but after seeing how many different survivor powers there are and some take like 5 hits to down... yeah the game looks like it's fallen down the rabbit hole and become a meta or bust game.
-
Pretty sure if you don't have the character you'll be SoL on earning the cosmetic.
Later on they might release it into the shop in which case you can just buy it then but who knows for certain.
TL;DR no, you probably don't.

@MojoTheFabulous said:
This would be brilliant. Add a new slot for special things like this.
Yes a new slot or even taking up a current slot for charms idc. Anything but this.
With the eyes it was meh, not really missing out on much. But these are good enough to warrant going on top of other skins.
-
While we're on the subject they should be changed too. Same slot ideally where the new cosmetic would go.
-
I mean honestly it's a part of the event as much as the offering is at this point. It's tradition.
-
Pic for those wondering what it looks like in game:
-
@Peanits @not_Queen Can we please get a response to this? I've been dying for a halo like cosmetic for Nurse and WE ARE SO CLOSE. PLEASE.

@Mooshroome64 said:
Considering they float so far behind the headpiece I can't think of any head cosmetics they would actually collide with - I'm all for this! Also I just dislike the default headpiece of some survivors and prefer the alternates.
Yeah the default being what the crown must use makes some... jarring results.
I fixed it though and it looks SOO MUCH COOLER

They're definitely a neat concept I wouldn't mind having stick around in the future. I just wish you could use other heads with them. I think I'm going to only use them on characters I already like the default head of.
Oh definitely, it needs to be changed to be used with any head cosmetic. I really want the Valentines Nurse skin combined with this.

Original as in unlicensed, not "Original" as in "the first". If it was the "Original" Killers (First) the Nurse wouldn't be one, since she was released with Nea in the first DLC.
She's so close though she might as well be original.
Can someone post a picture of where one is in game so we can know what to look out for?

Can you post a picture of what they look like? I haven't seen any in game or otherwise.

Not all of us want to get a 1.5k dollar pc just for more optimisation and a few more pixels on our screens.
I don't get this argument. You spend as much if not more over the lifetime of a console AND it's nowhere near as useful as a PC is.

I'm mostly wondering if the Devs have said anything about it yet.. because it'll be a huge game changer.
No they have not. I've directly asked this same exact question and have gotten no response. My guess is yes, we can no longer see through it for better or worse.
-
@[Deleted User] said:
Should they? Yes.
Will they? No.
Companies can only look ahead in the short term, even if leaving the game to fester with all of these bugs and creating more and more work for their employees through the terrible spaghetti code creating more and more problems every patch instead of optimizing their code will make them both more money in the long term, and cut down the amount of work that needs to be done in the future with spending many man hours fixing the same critical bugs over and over again.
I've stopped spending money on this game because I refuse to pay anymore for a broken product. And DBD is broken badly. It's as simple as that.
When I can actually rely that I can get to play the game when I want to, instead of being stuck with errors causing me to be booted out of a match and get a DC penalty, or my match is ruined by some game breaking bug that makes it impossible to play normally, and I can actually have the proper frame rate that my hardware is supposed to be giving me and isn't bottle necked down due to terrible optimization, then I'll be more than happy to spend money on the game,
I hate how companies can only ever see the short term and ignore all the cost saving and practical solutions that would be soooooo much better in the long term.

I guess yea. But it just all comes down to what the killers decisions are no matter what route you take.
Yes we can't prevent players from being scummy, just try our best to discourage it and reward "proper" gameplay.
-
As a Nurse main god yes.
I'd even be ok with like slowing down and releasing a new killer every 5~ months instead and focusing way more on bugs. I don't think anyone would complain about a mid-chapter patch being nothing but extensive bug fixes.
-
@KJay said:

I mean, I guess. But to me, if you're playing with a friend then 2 randoms that aren't very good... the killer can take advantage of the newbie just to quickly Mori the better player. So it turn it kind of acts like the Mori that it is already.
I personally wouldn't mind it, but I do rather have my idea. But just my opinion.
That's a fair point, but in terms of balance I think it's best to try and have an ideal set of players in mind to balance around. This being experienced (enough) players that aren't going to go down in 2 seconds and killers that aren't getting looped for 2+ minutes. Good+ players I'd say, and in that scenario I think OPs suggestion is more balanced.
-
@KJay said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1376125#Comment_1376125
Well, if you go with his idea, DS still not that useful as they play around it. But if you can only Mori on death hook, you can still play around DS and just have the survivor take the 2nd hook state. Also gives them a bit more points as well.
But again, even after the 2nd hook state, the killer has a choice. They can hook them as normally after playing around DS or choose to Mori them.
Also, like I said... Bit more satisfying by having to work for it
I'm more than ok with individual survivor perks being weaker than one killer perk. DS shouldn't have to always be played around, there should be at least some scenarios where it probably won't even activate.
So with that in mind you still have to work for the Mori because you must get the initial hook, then hook someone else, and then you must down the other survivor again. That's enough to me.
-
@TheOptimiser said:
Thank you for your opinion! Well for me these are just 2 suggestions that I would do to these 2 unhealthy mechanics this game disposes of.
Something needs to be done equally to the both of them, though, cause at the moment it's pretty bad...
Maybe the key only lets 1 person escape? Ultra rare addon to make it more?
-
@KJay said:
@TheOptimiser Being forced to be able to use a mori on death hook isn't so bad. Survivors get tunneled anyways right? Plus if the survivor is good, it would be more satisfying to Mori that survivor as you've earned it fairly. (Survivor being able to take 2 hook states)
Survivors working on death hooks is literally just a weaker PH. It would completely kill the usefulness of bringing a Mori into a match.
I like OPs suggestion because it encourages you to hook other people and stops tunneling to Mori without crippling the Mori. It could probably be made even better but this is a great change for right now.
IDK about keys tbh. Only being able to bring them in would just make stockpiles a thing (like they are now I guess) and that's not good, but neither is only being able to find them in game. No clue there.
-
Currently in the middle of one right now.
If I do turn on the game the second it starts being frustrating I'm out that beyotch quick as hell. Some nights are actually fun and the game is cooperative and I'm having a good time. Others I can barely blink twice in a match.
-
I think the argument of splitting the community is old and dated. It's already split between SWF and solos. It's a very noticeable difference when the individual players are skilled. What takes a good group of solos a lot of effort to achieve can be done with much less skilled SWF because the power of communication.
-
This is a good question.
I think the best way to use it is just for recognizable characters. Anything else would suffer from not being customize-able. A licensed or recognizable character wouldn't suffer as bad from that and it would make sense.
-
Yes it's fair game as far as I know.
-
@TheRoyalOwl said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1369242#Comment_1369242
But when is that, that useful most maps aren't that big where they require several blinks just go get to another survivor. Also I don't get how the recharge effects mindgames.
It's quite simple. Before you could blink to weird places to throw survivors off. Now if you try to do anything but blink straight after them (barring corners, etc...) you will lose the chase every single time. You just can't take random blinks to try stuff anymore. The cooldown makes you too slow for too long that they can either get incredible distance or just hide and waste a lot of your time trying to find them.

Um no i'm pretty sure the nurse is still as strong as she was before. The only difference is that you get punished for messing up.
I've been using as of lately and the whole "not fun" thing is simply because they are trash at nurse. Like I have a blast when I do well but feel like crap when do bad.
It does way more than just punish you for making mistakes. It cut her map travel down and her mind games completely in half.
