  • If all my friends left I'd be a killer only player. As it is, I only accept half the invites I get.

  • I've been downing people at some new pallets that are just straight up goofy. They added some pointless death traps.

  • I don't go in for the whole gen rush complaint but I had a couple matches yesterday where even I thought it was abnormally fast and people were playing super hard. Surprisingly, several of my survivor matches were memey, with musical performance leading to slug races. But I've got to say Pain Res, DMS, and buffed Ruin combined is a real headache.

Unfortunately, making losing less of a boring experience for survivors has probably been the best thing BHVR has managed on the survivor side recently.

"Losing is less boring" should be the definition of survivor buffs at this point.

Of my 2,000 hours in DBD, I'd say over 80% of it has been killer gameplay. I love Vee and her plaid outfit and had to hop over to play some survivor this patch, and I don't think I will ever do it again.

I never thought as someone who plays killer so much I would want the stupidly brutal/annoying anti-camp, anti-tunnel, and anti-slug that we dealt with in the PTB, but now I kind of wish we did.

Every match has been nothing but bleeding out all 4 survivors / being prompted with an abandon button, or people face camping the hook until you're unhooked and then going straight for you again to get you out of the match. I also don't think I've seen so much BM like… "walking back and forth" against me in the dying state this bad in almost 4 years.

I don't know if this behavior is new, or the reason we got hit with all this stuff in the PTB to begin with, but Lord have mercy if this is what survivors deal with on the daily, I completely understand the divide / vibe shift.

The BMing has been exceptionally bad lately.

Survivors absolutely can potentially decide a match at the one minute mark. It's what happens when a survivor decides to selfishly ragequit early.

It's not impossible to win with bots. They do gens, unhooks, and heals, and they don't rat, which is all more then can be said for half of soloqers. But it is impossible to win if the killer slugs everyone near the spawn and no one has Unbreakable.

But let me rephrase because the implication did not get through:

Because survivors can't potentially secure an unstoppable win at the one minute mark.

  • I'd like to know this too, for Plot Twist.

Like this one. You know, this usual dbd situation, where killer tries tunnel out first hook hard, but suddenly forgive who is who, and this stupid HUD doesn't give him info so he goes for different person thinking it's the right person haha outplayed by HUD stupid tunneler you will know how to tunnel with memory problems next time haha!!!!!!!!

And also also!!! These killers who don't pay attention to HUD!!! This is what stopped them from tunneling if anything!!!!! If they meet survivor with 2 hook stages, they will kill him now!!!! But before these inattentive killers… they… they just let them go before this change!!!! Holy killers buffs when you stop bhvr how dare you just put survivors on hook at the start of the match at this point!!!!!!

Mental gymnastic is usual thing for forum, but watching how you guys sincerely believe in this comedy in your heads, it's gold.

People like to complain about brain dead playing. If you can't even try to remember who you've hooked, that's peak brain dead. What do you need this for unless you make zero effort to remember the most basic things? Because of some non-existent altruism about people going second stage? You can already see when that happens on the HUD.

    That's not relevant.

Why do people want rules to limit killer behavior in the early game, but not want rules to limit survivors in the early game?

Because survivors can't potentially decide a match at the one minute mark. It's almost like one role has more power.

I started playing a couple of months ago and played everyday. I'm new to playing video games in general but played with friends and got better. (Not good, but better) I appreciate a good killer even if it mean I lose, at least the game is fun. You absolutely CAN win as killer without resorting to unfair gameplay.

I stopped playing a couple of weeks ago. I was so very tired of tunneling, slugging and at times it seemed that the perks enabled would be so strong it was impossible to play as a survivor. At first I thought it was just me, but every game it was happening to everyone else as well.

I know it can never be perfect, and someone out there will exploit anything that is put into place. That being said, if you must tunnel or slug to win then you aren't really winning AND winning is way too important to you.

I came on today excited for a change. First game, all 4 survivors downed, and then hooked with no chance of doing anything. Even if one could have gotten off the hook, it would not have done any good. Game was over in less than 5 minutes. So I shut it off and will again, not be playing.

I would also like to add, I have health problems and playing games allowed me to interact with friends and family and have something to do while stuck at home ( and sometimes in bed) for weeks on end. It's very sad that the game has become a chore rather than a joy.

Unfortunately, the devs have chosen, time and again, to pritorize the experiences of skilled and experienced players over new and less skilled ones. I've been playing games my whole life, and online PVPs for 15-20 years and I've never seen a game with a learning curve like this one, particualrly for the survivor role. Hop on a CoD game for the first time and it'll be rough but you'll get the idea pretty fast, and you'll get kills immediately. Baby survivor is just a death simulator. There's little satisfaction and a lot of confusion.

I whole heartedly recommend making additional online friends. It's a lot easier to bear the role if you have people to laugh with and not take it so hard.

I love the Hope nerf too! Since my endgame tunneling build with Remember Me is even stronger now!

Also we really NEED more aura reading perks that fit well on nurse!!! she is so weak after all..

Yes, finally I can get the kills that are rightfully mine in end game despite playing terrible all match!

Poor nurse, indeed. The dear thing does need some help.

Can you explain the reasoning behind the Deerstalker rework? It's basically a blanket counter to all survivor aura perks but without any prerequisites like, say, Distortion has.

  • If this is what we're considering a good thing now we are in trouble.

  • Crazy how everything that made sense in tandem with the anti-tunnel went through...except the anti-tunnel.

  • Dawg what even is this game?

  • Thank God OTR and Tenacity were nerfed instead of becoming basekit. That makes so much sense. Killing survivor aura perks with that Deerstalker change is also just great. What killers really need is more aura perks.

  • @tes said:

    I can't even decipher.

Do you feel this way about every change in this game? One of my favorite perks was recently changed, messing up my build and discouraging me from playing how I want. Yet I had to accept it and change my build. It's almost like things change over time and you just need to adjust.

First - what exactly u don’t understand? The way people feel that it’s not fair other side receive catch up tool while they don’t? The way how average player is not what u actually consider? The way how some people who finds this changes good and balanced (Mulder clearly refers to someone as name/nickname), blatantly lying and it was proved on their game as soon as they faced decent players?

I do. My killer was changed in a way I didn’t ask so. They justified his movement speed nerf by adding two ridiculous iri add-ons, while his speed already was low and he has one of the longest cooldown from his power + the easiest power for dodging

What I can do? Because average player don’t want to learn play as/against him properly, I have to live with these two “funny” addons that are using as excuse for me playing in different way. Before I were able to allow myself using his M2 more frequently, now I have to use boring M1 more. Just because other players since the start used only boring M1 and zoning

I didn’t support nerf of fog vials in a way that happened - I think we have mutual agreement in community that it was bad balancing from BHVR. So please, don’t try shift goalpost to this theme.

I will repeat again - if it’s PvP and multiplayer, game should be balanced around effective strats as a way to encourage the way who performed this effectiveness in a best way. It’s player’s duty to counter effective tunneling by skill without reliance on game doing this job instead of them. U don’t ask for difficulty adaptability in multiplayer, just because previously failed in proper matchmaking. U told yourself - tunnelling doesn’t cause breaking balance issue. It’s all about pure sentiment, but the changes people asking for affecting core balance directly. U can’t ignore core balance just because “average” player u imagined don’t care about balancing. Because it’s devs duty, but it seems BHVR working currently by pure marketing policy, forgetting about how to design games.

If u really want to discuss “ethical” part of tunneling - why u don’t look from other perspective?

It’s in psychological nature of assym genre when u play alone against team .

Reduce quantity to feel less overwhelmed. Killer, despite being considered as “power” role, will always feel under pressure due to being presented as minority in a match. Even when tunneling was completely removed from many assym games due to weird devs decision to fight with logic, new players always had a tendency to "target". Because it's logical. "I'm alone and it's 4 of them in different places. I need to do something with it... probably making it 3 vs 1". It’s a natural way to balance 1 vs 4 imbalance issue where 4 will always overperform just due to their quantity.

Tunneling is a way to deal with pressure that was created by nature of assym gameplay. As well as when survivors’ team up and gen rush making them to help with their own pressure. Problem is that solo q struggle with it, so it’s reasonable to help with this specific part. Since the start of the game the match is on ticking clock that reminds u about losing control. On both sides

So again. Killer showed toxicity, hitting u on hook and hardtunneling just because? Humble him through gameplay. That’s how u actually discourge toxicity - showing their irrelevance and moderating precisely. U could, if u are actually good player and don’t deny meta. Issue with moderating is because it doesn’t actually works in this game. Toxic players should be a precise deal, and not affecting game balance. That’s why better grading and proper rating system needed.

    https://youtu.be/QO2FKH5Cnsk?si=5UPmY7viWCpDdElh

This video clearly shows why tunneling is less issue when we talk about “fun factor”

what exactly u don’t understand? The way people feel that it’s not fair other side receive catch up tool while they don’t?

No I literally don't understand 1) a garbled screenshot with arrows drawn on it and random words inserted in and 2) what these out-of-context screenshots even are. Some random opinion somewhere from the depths of the internet? Okay cool, we have lots of those everywhere.

It’s a natural way to balance 1 vs 4 imbalance issue where 4 will always overperform just due to their quantity.

At mid MMR they absolutely don't out preform. And It's not natural, it's artificial. If the game needed a 3v1 setup to be balanced, then it would be 3v1. 3v1 is a massive unbalance.

If u really want to discuss “ethical” part of tunneling - why u don’t look from other perspective?

I play killer so I am the other perspecrive. If I lose because I let a good looper waste my time or I didn't pressure gens efficiently, that's on me.

What I can do? Because average player don’t want to learn play as/against him properly, I have to live with these two “funny” addons that are using as excuse for me playing in different way.

Yes indeed, what can you do? You have to adjust, don't you? You're not just going to quit because something you liked was changed, right? You're still playing.

Weird how I'm also an average player with an average KR and mixed opponents, and I manage it without tunneling and giving lots of mercy hatches and free outs. Like I said, most people in low and mid don't rely on tunneling, and those that do are usually terrible at everything else. If you can't win against mids without tunneling maybe the problem is you.

So again. Killer showed toxicity, hitting u on hook and hardtunneling just because?

Just went through all my responses in this thread and didn't see any mention of this. What are you referencing here?

I'm so tired of people posting videos. I'm not going to waste my time watching this content creators take. Form your own thoughts and write your own

the game just needs adjustments to discourage those who do.

Discourage way of effective play and outplaying opponent? If tunnel on 5-4 gen happened, it was a mismatch from the start.

Okay. I can understand this complaints towards S tier killers. But it is S tier and u work with S tier only then. U don’t do global change.

So, discourge… discouraging… So, punishment? How it works. Hm…. Somehow I was recently hardtunneled by Nemesis. It took 3 gen. Without anti tunnel perks, and he proxy camped me even. Not a lot of sources, my teammates escaped with 2. It was a tie and he was humbled in EG showing his salt after me saying GG to my teammates and regretting I didn’t loop him better.

    Conclusions:

    — Was he discouraged? Yes

    — Was he punished for early tunnel? Yes

    — Was it fun for me at least? Yes.

So, it turns out you can have all of this already just by playing better than opponent. Wow… Sounds reasonable. Why responsibility from discouraging my opponent should be shifted from my team on game system?

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/KJBU8BY2FY1D/img-1141.jpeg

Don’t u think making this “discourage” artificial can heavily backfire?

My whole comment was erased unfortunately, but I think it’s enough here. Just more few words.

I’m also average player. Less than 1k, mid MMR, 50/50 players with solo Q incline, but had experience of SFW. Don’t play S tier killers. 40% -50 ER, 60-65% KR. I also work and study, play for fun. Sounds average and ideal of what BHVR were looking to. Why I am being average player being spoke out from you and u say u speak for my fun? Because it’s a lie. I don’t find your position neither fair or fun.

Turns out your “average” player is only player who agree with you. You don’t count player as “average” when he talks like this:

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/WOH05YZPIR5E/img-1142.jpeg

I can't even decipher what those screenshots are or what they're saying.

I also at no point have said I think the changes should have gone through as is, only that changes to the game are needed.

If killer discouraged by game system only for being deprived of most effective game style artificially, hence no point in PvP.

Do you feel this way about every change in this game? One of my favorite perks was recently changed, messing up my build and discouraging me from playing how I want. Yet I had to accept it and change my build. It's almost like things change over time and you just need to adjust.

You mean like the parts of the patch that were trying to do that? With ideas like basekit OTR/Elusive and BBQ?

This changes don’t play around macro, and moreover, don't evolve around tunneling theme. It's hand holding on both sides to encourage mindless face unhooks and auto pilot chases. It's evolve around massive skill issue from average player, because BHVR for all these 9 years created generical perks system that completely discourge even an attempt to think in a trial. It's bs calling something like nerfed BBQ a good incentive and progressive play, because it's doing completely opposite. Same with haste and pop incentives.

    Every single one, huh?

Show me such game. It's not thrilling when 4 survivors failling in basic efficiency so killer have time to spread hooks. Such survivors either worse compared to killer in chase, or in efficiency. It's just u wish to picture it, because your faithful picture of fairness shatters as soon as u see actually skillful survivors who even without comms can accomplish basic objective.

The simple fact is a whole lot of people are unhappy. If you have a product where the majority consumer (since survivors are 80% of a match) is heavily unhappy, you might have to change it.

You overestimate numbers of people that share your mindset, because it's forum with limited bias. People who giving u likes and loudly say approve are literal the same on every post, and u have mutual uncoucious agreement between each other. When PTB started, the people like u who supported this generic changes were in minority and still are. On every other media or even some local discord servers opinion of majority were completely different. You also ignore experience of playerbase from other servers, because for example in CIS or Asia almost NO ONE share your mindset.

Majority can be unpleased by many reasons. I’m also unhappy despite still having opportunity to tunnel. Because again, now I’m playing against perks and not players, MMR and RGN doesn’t make sense still and bugs are starting to be unforgivable. Being as unhappy as you doesn’t mean I share your point of view. This 80% of unhappy people u talking about includes different players and believe me, nor mine nor yours bias doesn't correlate with theirs. It was flaw of post with people who said tunneling is valid, now it’s flaw of posts with people telling about tunneling fatigue. It’s cyclic. Even among my friends, there are completely polar opinions about why they think the game is not fun for them. So, stop pretending your approach is the most faithful one, because it’s based on ignorance of PvP, challenges, and heavily focus on perception of your own fun. It's just your opinion, and not me, not you, shouldn't manipulate with “but majority approve my view”. Because it's a lie.

So the honor system? The game's already rather lacking in the honor dept. This needs to be done with a drastically better MMR that puts the correct people together, not with trust and goodwill.

Providing daily rank mode with limited time for few hours in peak hours can help without drastically affecting queues if code it properly. It also can introduce more tight system for servers. But the problem, BHVR can’t create this, because it requires major rework of everything and even bans for specific stuff, which doesn't correlate with their policy of “freedom and will”. Somehow the only limiting the way how majority plays is their only excuse to break policy.

It's evolve around massive skill issue from average player

Yes. The average player. Average being majority, people who want to play with friends a couple times a week or have a few matches after work, not who devote their lives to this game as though it were a religion. If the game caters solely to its obsessives in the top 5%, it's cooked.

your faithful picture of fairness shatters as soon as u see actually skillful survivors who even without comms can accomplish basic objective

Weird how you assume I've never seen these people.

because for example in CIS or Asia almost NO ONE share your mindset.

So my opinion is a biased minority, but you speak for a whole server?

You overestimate numbers of people that share your mindset, because it's forum with limited bias.

It's just your opinion, and not me, not you, shouldn't manipulate with “but majority approve my view

So, stop pretending your approach is the most faithful

Funny enough, tunneling doesn't hit me that hard, that often. My desire for change has more to do with the mass unhappiness I see regarding tunneling, not just here, but in other places too (I do—and this is a fact—have access to the internet.) Slugging is actually the bigger issue for me, personally, but tunneling is the one more people are being burnt out by.

Somehow the only limiting the way how majority plays is their only excuse to break policy.

The majority? Most of my survivor matches don't feature hard, early-game tunneling. If it was the majority then that would, indeed, be game breaking to change it. But it's not, so the game just needs adjustments to discourage those who do. No one will take your precious tunneling away, they're just trying to make it less easy to achieve a 3v1 at early game.

If the game matchmakes players with killer who can slug or tunnel on 5 gens the player, it basically means this matchmakes never should happen. Because it can be everything - skill difference, extremely bad RGN, but not the fault of the player. If every survivor goes down in few seconds of the chase, do really player who playing other role have to spend his time on this match longer than needed? Why responsibility of the game provide fair challenge and good conditions is transferred on the shoulders of simple player? Artificially making match longer, where u clearly don’t experience anything except of huge disappointment from the game MMR?

For you, it's a trash tactic, for others, a valid strategy. Players aren't informed whether they're playing bad solo or against someone else. Everyone knows that numbers prevail, and so in an asymmetrical game, the four-player side will always have an initial advantage. Everyone knows there's only one killer in the game, and effective survivors are the only ones who truly control the game's balance. Killers are also well aware of the number of second-chance perks that give a second wind literally if their opponent loses, and they also may consider this unfair and trash tactic. They may consider it unfair when survivors hides for 10 minutes, deliberately avoiding any interaction for the sake of the hatch, just because sitting in a bush requires nothing rather than being in chase.
They may think of trash tactics as gen rushes when they've completed a standard chase in a minute, and they're down to 3-2 gens, after wich players like u gonna remind them they have to play "not according to trash tactics."

From perspective of survivor , I don’t feel anything in matches where half of the game I press m1 and leave. Because every match where hooks were spreading, it was either player stomping anyway and making unpleasant match even more longer, or killer struggled from the start and outcome is still evident. As survivor player, my personal fun is getting it through tight interaction with killer and when I feel I can be punished for mistakes, so game incentives playing me more careful. As survivor player, I have fun in efficiency and short outcomes, so the issue is when I play efficient, killers can’t allow himself to spread hooks, he’ll more likely lose no matter skill, because micro + macro is overperforming pure micro play. My fun in challenge that force me to learn loop better, but who I am to ask for my fun, indeed.

It's time to understand that what you consider trash and a lack of player empathy is very relative. The fact that you're trying to tie game outcomes and victories to the perception of player personality is trash for me, for example. It's trash when, instead of finally forcing BHVR to balance killers’ abilities and make the average game so that even a calm player doesn't have to face someone who's truly playing to win, they're blaming one side or the other. If, damn it, people started tunneling, and it's been going on for nine years, and it's a widespread phenomenon, then there must be some sense to it. And instead of trying to fight it like a plague, it would be a good idea to start trying to make the game evolve around it.

Because if you have a sweat lobby and a chill lobby the sweats will just go to the chill lobby and smash the chill players.

This argument is truly tiresome. Instead of even trying to create a satisfying environment for players, they're forced to come up with the worst-case scenario as excuse. As if the same thing isn't happening now. As if people don't write from time to time about some sweats and how annoying they are to the average player. Maybe you should at least try to do something for separating them, instead of justifying lack of actions that some player might go and satisfy their ego by playing against less experienced players. Maybe just try. Well, or, in principle, then it’s time to stop complaining that some player comes into the lobby to play by the rules of soulless efficiency, and not your mood at all. But in the end, we choose the third option - to complain and demand primitive solutions in the form of calling entire part of player base trash and toxic. Classic.

And instead of trying to fight it like a plague, it would be a good idea to start trying to make the game evolve around it.

You mean like the parts of the patch that were trying to do that? With ideas like basekit OTR/Elusive and BBQ?

Artificially making match longer, where u clearly don’t experience anything except of huge disappointment from the game MMR?

Because the point of a game is to play, not to just win in two seconds and leave. What is the purpose of that? If every game was three minutes long would you even play? Because I wouldn't.

Because every match where hooks were spreading, it was either player stomping anyway and making unpleasant match even more longer, or killer struggled from the start and outcome is still evident.

Every single one, huh? They always end as a one sided stomp? Because, on my end, these are the closest matches. Hooks spread, gens pop, and everything comes down to the last gen or end game. That's way more thrilling than tunneling out the first unlucky person you see at 5gens to skew things in your favor.

They may consider it unfair when survivors hides for 10 minutes, deliberately avoiding any interaction for the sake of the hatch, just because sitting in a bush requires nothing rather than being in chase.

Pretty sure almost everyone who isn't a rat, whether survivor or killler, agrees that ratting is trash. So yeah, agreed.

Maybe you should at least try to do something for separating them, instead of justifying lack of actions that some player might go and satisfy their ego by playing against less experienced players

So the honor system? The game's already rather lacking in the honor dept. This needs to be done with a drastically better MMR that puts the correct people together, not with trust and goodwill.

The simple fact is a whole lot of people are unhappy. If you have a product where the majority consumer (since survivors are 80% of a match) is heavily unhappy, you might have to change it. If people try your product, say "I hate this" and leave, you aren't thriving. It's that simple. A product doesn't survive if it's audience dwindles from discontent. If they're trying to address it, it's clearly an issue.

Many people loading up in PvP game with the thought they would actually smash their opponents. It’s a joy of PvP genre and their fun/frustration. The issue DBD failed in providing fair challenges, so average player plays against system rather than player. On both sides. And instead of fixing it, many people ask for making it more severe. More systematic limitations, base kit buff for simply completing objective or even hand handling in losing. The same mindset that creates characters like Ghoul with auto hit scan or another second chance on top of second chance on survivor.

It’s just weird calling game PvP, provide some hints on mythical MMR and then expecting people care about fun of their opponents more than their own. Especially when media of the game heavily orients on challenges and sweating. Of course if it’s PvP there, sweats will take a big part of player base.

Looking at stuff which is most popular, it shows average player care about making game l a mix of competition factor with funny builds and their variability, rather than abstract fun u are always talking about where games finishes as tie just because killer/survivor babysitting other side, handcuffing themselves. Many people have fun playing on their max, many people have fun playing chill, so maybe it’s reasonable to separate them instead of trying to force mindset they don’t share?

“Fun” can have many different forms. Fun can mean to have a trophy, and in PvP genre, this trophy is a win. Assymetrical genre of DBD doesn’t cancel it out. U won’t be happy with it, but because it’s PvP, this fun usually meant for being earned through outplaying your opponent. The DBD issue is instead of outplaying opponents, killers outplay efficiency and survivors outplay unbalanced RGN and zero organisation in solo q, fighting with system rather than player. Tunneling appeared due to this. Tunneling fatigue appeared due to this. It’s a cycle of responding and u can’t remove something from this chain without breaking it.

U would be surprised, but playing for spreading hooks and play as chase machine on auto pilot relying only on your opponent being worse (which shouldn’t happen in any healthy game) just for some base kit buffs instead of paying attention to macro and having actually challenging chases can be as same not fun as playing for 3vs1 with auto-pilot tunneling 10 games in a row. Depends on people’s preferences.

I didn't say anything about ties. I play to win. I just remember my opponenets are human and that none of this is very important so I don't need to do things that are known to make people miserable over a game. But I also care more about what goes on in the match than the outcome. The outcome is just numbers.

What's the point of a clean sweep acquired with trashy tactics? You didn't really earn a win through skill and cunning, you didnt really outplay them, you just exploited a bad system. I don't feel "handcuffed" by choosing to go for the unhooker rather than the unhooked. Both are a choice. I'm just not exploiting that bad system. I feel much more accomplished playing with good sportsmanship and winning. If I slug everyone at 5 gens I feel like I did nothing.

Many people have fun playing on their max, many people have fun playing chill, so maybe it’s reasonable to separate them instead of trying to force mindset they don’t share?

How though? The only way to do this is to have different buffers in place at different MMRs. Because if you have a sweat lobby and a chill lobby the sweats will just go to the chill lobby and smash the chill players.

People complain about bad CGI.. again a note on the end product movies like Avatar on release were praised for the CGI and the visuals..

You mention cookie cutter scripts and decrease in writing quality idk what that has to do with AI persay but it's highly possible AI could even help that cause. I'm a mediocre song writer my self (exclusively parody songs that I created for friends and my kids) but AI can really assist once you have the vision at good foundation but can't fill in some of the gaps in ways that sounds and make sense for the theme of your song. This can easily help a bad creator Ok good great. I'm unsure if it can help the people at the peak of the creative world as I'm not one of them so I can't speak on that.

As for skills people worked on for years. Yeah it's sad people in certain industries will no doubt be negitvely affected by this technology. But you really should consider the idea of capability with technology as a mountain. With low technology everyone no matter their capabilities are useful. Mining tilling fields and manual labor. But as technology advances your move closer to the top of the mountain where the peak narrows and less capable people will fall. So many thousands of jobs have been killed by technology over the course of industry revolution to modern day. Gabe Newell said it well instead of reading articles about it and worrying about how it's gonna effect you rush to the races and get involved.

As for the copyright issue. The minute you post something online in a public space expect some one to have learned from it. And by law as long as it's not being used to directly infringe on your IP or branding it is completely legal. Artist have literal been fighting for fair use laws their whole life but the minute it's used against them the script flips completely lol

but AI can really assist once you have the vision at good foundation but can't fill in some of the gaps in ways that sounds and make sense for the theme of your song

But why do you think you should be able to make something if you can't, say, read or write music or lyrics, play an instrument, or compose a song? Why does everyone feel entitled to free and fake creativity? If you can't make music but want to, learn.

And the idea that everything is about money is the problem with a lot of mindsets. I've been painting and writing fiction for years. I haven't even tried to get the writing published because it's not about money. It's about making something that's my own. It came from tons of learning and correcting, and from decades long accumulation of thoughts and experiences that make up my existence. If it gets to the point where no one can tell the difference and people care about consuming products instead of appreciating creativity, then what is the value of the human experience?

  • Candyman and The Thing are at the top for me.

Of course killers would do what they can to work around the system considering how punishing it was for them. Don't forget survivors turned the whole punishment system into a weapon they can and will exploit the hell out of it to intentionally punish killers or force them into making a bad choice that will only work in survivors favor.

Killers are suppose to kill survivors how it's done doesn't matter to much. Be like forcing a cartoon/movie villain to play by the rules to the point they can't be villains anymore.

This is the problem with the ptb, and ptbs in general. Aside from the fact that a massive chunk of the player base is automatically excluded, a whole bunch of sweats and content creators were logging on to see how far they could exploit. How much meaningful data about the average, everyday match can you gain from that?

It should matter. It's just a game. You don't need to smash other people so you can have some stats or something. There's no prize or trophy, just fun or frustration.

  • There really should have been drastic QoL before FNaF. You can't get a whole wave of new people to play and then expect them to stay when the experience is bad. It would have been a great opportunity for retention.

I also expected a lot more from that FNaF chapter. I was kinda shocked there weren't at least cosplay cosmetics for original survivors. I expected Fazbear's Pizza and security uniforms and what did we get? A t-shirt. I don't care about this franchise one bit and even I was disappointed after all the hype and expectations.

  • I desperately want Visionary reworked. I'd really just like it to show all gen auras at all times, making it a solid option over Deja Vu. I'd rather be able to keep track of what gens everyone has done and be strategic than get the speed boost.

well the devs should give us killers a reason to not tunnel there’s no incentive to not tunneling it’s the fastest and most efficient way of winning

Buffs without penalties aren't enough. I already don't tunnel so the proposed buffs would have helped players like me with almost zero chance of being hit by the penalties. So one group of players would be elevated while the tunnelers would just keep tunneling because it already works for them. So survivors lose out regardless of which flavor of opponenet they get.

  • I'm not even sure what they could do with Bubba. Have you heard the TCM soundtrack? It's mostly just noises. There would have to be a lot of artistic license there.

Plague really needs it though. Her menu music is one of my favorites.

I dunno, it felt worthwhile to P100 my Legion. It depends on the Killer, but my Killer of choice has a decent set of varied and useful add-ons, even if only a handful see regular use for me. Just getting to P100 has given me a huge stockpile of iri add-ons that I won't run out of anytime soon.

I feel less motivated to P100 my Survivor main tho, since I'm not an item gamer and most items are not very useful, imo. I only care about buying med-kit stuff. Survivor blood webs do feel very cluttered by comparison but I may P100 Meg just for the hell of it anyway.

Survivior is the bigger issue. The survivor bloodweb is a mess, and I've found that it intentionally avoids giving you the things you use the most. I use toolboxes. I get iri add-ons I never use like syringes every level, but my green toolbox add-ons are impossible. Killler's have less crap and usually multiple add-ons are useful.

  • I'm not paying money for imagineary clothes if I can avoid it. I just wait until I have the shards. Only exception for me so far has been The Rift but it's a ton of stuff for what you pay and you can't get it otherwise.

  • The reward for getting to p100 is a bloodweb full of nothing you actually want. I have to go through 10-20 levels just to get the one, single add-on I desire.

Because everything you just mentioned is all human and everything has a history of some sort of emotion or story behind it and there is no computer that can replicate that. Its soulless and defeats the purpose of what art is.

Exactly this. Humans build on each other's work. That's the whole history of art. AI is just turning it into lifeless data and regurgitating it. There's no point to art without purpose, thought, or emotion.

I'm nearly there but the hooking one is nuts.

  • I usually finish the Rift at about 3 or 4 weeks in. This one was about the same for me. Maybe a hair longer. I'm not really going out of my way either. It just happens naturally.

  • Fog vials will always make me think outcry trumps data, because I can't imagine those mediocre things were tipping the balance after a week of already minimal usage.

  • As someone who loves hunting for and cleansing hex totems and who would like a secondary objective, I don't hate this idea.

  • But for some reason some players get mad at the PLAYER rather than the gameplay itself.

I mean, you did choose to slug. It's not like the game just did it itself. Camping, slugging, and tunneling might be possible in-game, but you still have to actively choose that route.

the fact you advocate for removing peoples freedom to choose for themselves because you believe its for their own good says everything. i dont see how any meaningful discussion can be had with someone with that mindset. im for freedom of choice, clearly you are not therefore our views are fundamentally different.

What freedom was removed? There never was open VC. You can't remove an element that never was. But even if there had been, that's like saying "they put in an anti-camp meter, removing my freedom to face camp." Not everything is some inherent human right. You're acting like this is some great, important matter like abortion or assisted suicide. It's a game, and implying I have a nazi-like mindset over some small matter in a video game is peak melodrama.

this toxicity exists without coms. people want to do gens and some toxic guy blows the gen on purpose or rats out their team mate. coms being muted wouldnt make a difference. muting someone in tcm didnt increase the level of toxicity in the game so im not sure what basis you have for that claim.

so people can mute but you know they probably wont…thats their choice lol. who are you to decide that for people? your saying people cant be trusted with their freedom to choose and they will make the wrong decision and suffer as a result so your answer is remove their freedom. again…..wow. did germany win ww2 or somthing because this is insane.

I like how you're acting like I, personally, have made the decision to not have open VC in DbD. Pretty sure if the devs wanted it, it'd be there.

The WW2 reference is so outrageously hyperbolic. You don't need to summon Hitler for every little silly thing.

your suggesting new players go out of their way to seek out friends BEFORE they play the game? i dont understand why you cant mute people. instead you expect everyone to earn coms. whats easier? mute and remove your ability to hear people while allowing others to communicate if they wish? or have people searching the internet for randoms which may not always be available to play when they log on so have to search the internet for a friend to play with whenever they want to play dbd?

You say toxicity is bad to justify not having coms but then your also saying people have to rely on others to friend them. its pretty confusing to say people are vile monsters so shouldnt have coms but then say offer to be friends with these potential monsters before you have even spoken to them. surly it makes sense to allow people the choice to communicate in game and if they click they can add eachother, if not then dont add them.

if people are vulnerable or particularly sensitive to things people might say they dont have to have coms enabled. whats the problem with that?

I already said what the problem is. In a coordinated team game, you will be expected to be on comms, and you might pay in in-gane toxicity if you choose not to engage. It's no like CoD where everyone is kinda doing their own thing and you can mass mute. Coordination would become huge with open VC and speech would be expected. We already people suffering through slurs and being told to off themselves in end game chat. They refuse to turn the chat off though. People CAN mute, but they probably won't, and they'll pay a mental health price for that.

I've added people I played well with only to hop on comms and immediately hear slurs and rage towards everything they dont like. So I delete them. Easy as that. The instances are much, much less than an open lobby though. I usually chat through text before using VC to feel them out anyway. Another good buffer.

you have missed my point entirely. you say people shouldnt be punished for playing with friends. equally people shouldnt be punished for playing solo. its not always a choice, new players especially. if they dont have friends to play with they have to play solo and essentially earn friends as they play. in what world is this a normal mindset, have to earn friends by playing in order to join the elite swf coms club. people talk about the new player experience being bed… this is why, people like you that are trying to deny these new solo players the advantage that they could really do with.

i have played online games for over 20 years, games of many different genres. if coms became an issue i simply muted them, they often didnt even know i muted them. back in the days of halo where the teams had coms…. i cant ever imagine having to play without coms to earn friends to then join as a team and finally communicate. im struggling to think of any game that does that. i had a blast playing with random people and made friends along the way. TCM had voice chat, granted that game died but that was certainly not due to coms. i had a great time on that game with random people thanks to coms. if someone played music or started eating their mic i would mute them and enjoy the rest of the game. DBD on the other hand, you have to earn the right to use coms in a swf.

like i said talk about dictatorship lol forcing people to seek out companionship to benefit coms. There is really nothing more i can say on that other than …..wow.

You don't have to start alone though. Send friend requests to everyone you see and you'll get immediate responses. Send messages, "hey, I'm new and getting my bearings, would you like to play together?" Go on reddit and find people. Go into the section of this very forum that's for meeting up and find people. Message people in the forum you agree with and add each other. I'm the most unsocial person ever and I don't struggle with this. You just have to make the tiniest effort.

I was playing shooters at that time. It was non-stop toxicity. Racial slurs, sexist slurs, anti-lgbt slurs, ageism. I still have hearing problems from some guy screaming into my old school in-ear 15 years ago. This game is already known for its toxity. Being able to say it out loud would be even worse. You call it dictatorship, I call it a buffer for more vulnerable players.

its astounding how anyone can be pro coms but anti coms for all lol. the current system allows to add randoms but doesnt allow coms.

i said someone that is using hacks like wall hacks can be countered which they can because they dont make the survivor unstoppable.

i dont mind coms, it might make stealth more challenging but i tunnel as a counter to even the odds. this is why solo pay the price which im suggesting they need coms like swf so they can handle tunneling like swf can handle it. but your attitude is "no, swf can have coms, solo players can suffer in silence" and it is indeed slience without coms. if people dont want coms they can mute people in game, it would give them choice atleast but you dont want solo players to have a choice, you seem to want a gap between swf and solo by saying swf can have coms but solo should be denied it which is insane. talk about dictatorship lol "these people can have an advantage, but these people shouldnt" mind boggling. but i come across as nuts for advocating equality between solo and swf? topsy turvy world we live in

You are, again, making soloqers sound like hapless second-class victims. Soloq is a choice, not a rigid and unmoving position. I was soloq until people friended me. That's how you stop being solo. You see someone who meshes well with you and friend them. This is available to everyone. Then they invited me to the in-console, non-third-party VC that all game companies are aware exists. This allows you to choose to be communicative.

People on Steam have easy access to one another's profile (another of those "advantages,", as I can't see other players' total hours) and can easily contact each other. Discord is free. Consoles have VC built-in. Mics are also built into PS controllers. A cheap headset is affordable to anyone who can already afford these devices we're all using. No one is excluded here, but a lot of people don't want to talk and that's fine, but some people won't accept no for an answer. It has to be at least a little bit avoidable for the sake of those people, because open VC in other games often becomes a hate-filled cesspool.

people dont want coms they can mute people in game

This makes it sound like you haven't experienced the joys of open VC for long periods, because you can either 1) suffer through it and hear the worst things you've ever heard come out of people's mouths or 2) get sandbagged because you muted whoever elected themselves leader. With the small buffer in place, in that you have to seek out companionship, the toxicity is pretty much null.

you keep comparing survivor gaining unfair advantage to tunneling but tunneling isnt using a separate program. tunneling uses the games on mechanics and is available to all players thats the key difference. if coms was built in to the game and available to all players then it would be the same thing as tunneling as both would be using in game mechanics to their advantage. but it would be to their advantage not an unfair advantage exclusively available to a specific sect of people playing.

obviously everything down to the mouse and monitor could possibly provide an advantage, some things cant be prevented like i said and have already agreed with you on that. But where we differ in opinion is that just because something cant be stopped (coms, external hardware or programs) that doesnt mean we shouldnt be doing what little we can to prevent it. cheating cant be stopped as is evident from the sheer number of cheaters that laugh at a ban then 5min later back with a new account. rightfully bhvr should do what little they can to reduce the numbers atleast. same should apply to coms OR make it so ALL players have the same option the best they can. bhvrs part is the software, the game, this is where they can make a difference and make things balanced the best they can.

How can you justify using external sources to gain an advantage but then in the same breath say mods and hacks is unacceptable? first your argument was that 1 can be countered and the other cant which i disproved by providing a perfect example of how both can be countered. now your saying its because its against the rules. To clarify i dont condone cheating of any kind which includes using coms imo.

survivors can use stealth perfectly fine because killers are reliant on perks to counter it which many killers use gen slow down perks. if aura read was basekit then fair enough but its not. while swf on coms can counter stealth builds without perks and without using basekit through 3rd party coms. i play stealth style killer and survivor and i can honestly say stealth survivor is way easier than playing stealth killer.

The current system allows you to make friends and choose to speak to them. If it becomes obligatory, it will be hell. Open VC lobbies are the worst part of gaming. God help you if you sound too young, too old, are a woman, or have an kind of inflection or quirk in your vocal patterns. And if you've been insulted for these things and thus mute yourself, you'll be getting sandbagged and griefed. The toxicity would be off the charts. I 100% do not want open VC. Not because of gameplay, but because of humans.

Also, console players can VC with one another. You dont even need to be friends. No external app either, since it's through the platform, just not through the game. Again, games are aware that people can speak.

To clarify i dont condone cheating of any kind which includes using coms imo.

Show me where comms are listed as cheating on BHVR's (or anyone elses) Code of Conduct. You might be tilted about comms, but that's a you thing.

first your argument was that 1 can be countered and the other cant which i disproved by providing a perfect example of how both can be countered.

Remind me how you said you can counter someone who spends the whole game under the floor or inside a wall. And tell me again how you can gain an advantage while playng on a Switch versus someone with the most expensive headset, the best monitor, and an insane PC.

i play stealth style killer and survivor and i can honestly say stealth survivor is way easier than playing stealth killer.

This argument sounds like comms hurt you, specifically, therefore comms are cheating.

Useless teammates also seems to be major issue should survivor MMR be tighter to have more competent survivors?

I think most people agree it does. As far as I know, all it takes into account are escapes and deaths. It's needs to be more complex. Factor in bodyblock/protection hits, gens done, chase length, chases won or lost, end game saves, hatch ratting, etc. Upper MMR requires teamwork to survive, even in solo, so the ability to work as a team needs to be assessed in MMR shifts too.

  • @runningguy said:

Its implied by your logic twice.

    1. "A giant, high definition TV is better than a Switch screen. Lots of PC killers use shaders, something many have no access it and gives an unfair advantage, but there isn't much anyone can do about it."

This implies that it is ok for someone to use something external to gain and advantage because there is nothing that can be done about it…. hacking also uses external things to gain an advantage. hackers are not always obvious in their cheats, some are subtle which doesnt give them immortality but does give them an unfair advantage but there is nothing that can be done about it. which bring me to the 2nd instance your logic implies cheating is ok….

    2. "I've been in matches with cheaters. You can beat someone on comms. You can't beat a survivor who's flashlight blinding you through the floor or turbosoeeding through the map. They aren't remotely equivalent."

This implies that it is ok to gain an unfair advantage as long as it CAN be countered. So by your logic it is ok to use external sources like coms to gain and advantage because it CAN be beaten and a hacker could apply wall hacks…. the wall hacks doesnt make them invincible, they CAN be beaten. Just because it CAN be beaten doesnt make it right or acceptable.

You dont flat out condone cheating but your double standards have implied it.

you cant stop coms because how do you stop someone talking? with phones and personally being together, you cant so we just allow it in spite of the advantages it provides. using your own logic and arguments this could be applied to using hacks, you cant stop hackers so should we just allow it in spite of the advantages it provides? ofcourse not.

I'm saying everyone is going into this game with a whole different set of advantages and disadvantages. Every single thing you use to play the game is external. By your logic, everyone should have the same screen with the same setting, be on the same platform, using the same sound system, playing in the same environment. And there should absolutely not be crossplay, since KB&M has a huge advantage over controllers, even though crossplay is the whole reason multiplayer games are staying alive for such lengthy periods now. Just like being able to talk to friends keeps people playing survivor, even when they're unhappy with the experience. The ability to link to discord is now built into consoles. It's part of gaming as much as the expensive headset and the giant OLED screen.

Mods, on the other had, are explicitly against the rules and have been deemed unacceptable.

This implies that it is ok to gain an unfair advantage as long as it CAN be countered.

Sort of like tunneling to create a 3v1 at 5gens gives an unfair advantage but can be countered? But that's the one thing that's okay, somehow, because it's built into the mechanics, even though the devs are clearly trying to discourage it. That logic is that it's okay to exploit something until it's exploitablity has been removed.

there are plenty of stealth builds and stealth killers that are becoming harder and harder to play because of coms just like survivors cant use stealth as much due to aura read perks.

Your own example shows that the game is inherenetly balanced around different scenarios. Aura read is off the charts for killers while stealth has been nerfed. It helps me win many of my matches. Against SWF or not, I can still see them. It's likely become so big BECAUSE of SWF.

I beg to differ, i played this game for years and have like 3k hours, i 100% would quit the killer role completely if tunneling got removed like it would have done if the ptb changes went through. i was preparing myself with what games to change to and still am just incase it ever does happen and countless people in game and the forums felt that way too. the only way to be sure is let the changes go through and see for yourself. player count would drop and escape rate would go through the roof. not all killers would quit but not all survivors would quit if coms got banned. i wouldnt quit survivor if that happened.

Yes, some people need coms. like some killers need tunneling. people like coms, people like tunneling. when im killer it doesnt make a difference to me in terms of fun if im chasing someone fresh from the hook and has 2 hooks already or if im chasing a fully healed survivor, im still in the chase but tunneling get me in chase faster so i like to tunnel.

im not saying you can beat a cheater but that cheater can help others that are not cheating escape. But you seem to be implying that it is ok to cheat as long as its not overly cheating….like someone could use wall hacks to see the killer. does it mean they will be able to win every match? no. does it give them unfair advantage? absolutely. just because people can lose doesnt make it ok to have an unfair advantage no matter what way you try to slice it.

Show me where I implied cheating was okay.

1 … 61 62 63 64 65 … 83
