As soon as I was about to achieve above 50% escape rate I can have really sweaty matches against killer. But I’m not really sure is it related to MMR, or I just started to play past midnight on London servers. Just a feel that the most comp survivor and killers are living close to EU region. Even Asian ones are more chill (maybe because actual comps from there playing other assym game)

Hoping from one country to another gave me really diverse experience of what players can be. The only region I didn’t tried yet is Canada, USA and New Zealand.

    The typical US experience:

  • "Don't complain, just suffer or leave." Quite the take. They won't know what the issues are unless they're discussed. A live service game needs constant adjustments.

You said easier to play but what you mean is easier to win. If you want easy to play then play as Wraith. Doesn't mean you'll 4k stomp every time, but he's easy to use. But there shouldn't be any character you can buy and just smash opponenets with ease. Your argument that you should be able to do so because you don't want to invest time in the game is peak entitlement. If you don't want to learn then you can lose, and then take your own advice and don't complain.

I’m using sportsmanship as the official definition in the game rules.

And if you don’t like that, then we can just speak about ragequitting being literally against the game rules, and how it’s literally so bad that people can get banned from the forums if they keep encouraging other people to ragequit.

And you should be able to realize the difference between stuff that can get you banned, and stuff that can’t get you banned. And killer behavior like randomly tunneling random people, isn’t bannable.

Who was even talking about encouraging ragequits? This is about penalties for dying too fast.

I have no problem recognizing the difference. There's just more to discussions and stutations then bannable and not bannable. But if all you care about is the black and white of law and order, then you should be outraged about people being penalized for things that aren't just nonbannable but completely out of their control, yet all you're doing is accusing them of lying.

  • @Coffeecrashing said:

That is still an unacceptable reason to ragequit. If someone needs a break from the game, they should take a break from the game. But they shouldn't break game rules, and show a total lack of respect for the other people in the game, by ragequitting.

Okay, not a definition. This is in the section that lists what can get you banned. You sure do like extremes without nuance. Sportsmanship isn't usually a set of rules, it's an attitude. And one that is, again, lacking in this game.

So are the people chiming in with their experiences on this post lying?

  • @Coffeecrashing said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4010408#Comment_4010408

The official rules say that ragequitting is against the rules, and therefore it is against the rules. Go Next exists because ragequitting is against the rules. It's also against the forum rules to encourage people to ragequit.

"Fairness" is not in the game rules. It is not the same thing.

You brought up sportsmanship. So define it.

  • @Coffeecrashing said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4010387#Comment_4010387

Ragequitting is breaking the rules, so people that like to frequently ragequit are rule-breaking people. It's unsportsmanlike conduct, and it's not acceptable.

This statement is extreme. "Jaywalking is illegal, so people that like to frequently jaywalk are criminals." Just a tad black and white.

Is all unsportsmanlike behavior unacceptable then? Definitions of sportmanship involve terms like fairness, generosity, and respect—all things rather lacking in many matches from both roles.

It has happened to me. Usually getting tunneled won't trigger it, but against a tunneling killer like Krasue or Ghoul, and teammates that don't know when to unhook or not to unhook, it can happen.

Just imagine a high mobility killer with Lethal finding you first and downing you quick. Then the moment the killer leaves hook, a teammate goes and rescues you, and then the killer immediately uses that mobility to come back and tunnel. And then for some reason, then unhook again before the killer is committed in another chase, or the high mobility killer does quickly find another chase so they think it is safe to unhook and the killer comes straight back.

The system is flawed and honestly with the inability to self-unhook without luck, I feel like this system isn't even needed now.

Ah, the joys of solo queue. Had someone unhook me yesterday right in the face of a killer who was clearly tunneling me. The random didn't seem malicious either, just stupid.

  • @Coffeecrashing said:

For the people that really want to be able to ragequit whenever they want without any penalties, Go Next can be a huge deal to them, because the previous system allowed them to very quickly and easily ragequit without penalties.

And when there are people that want to throw themselves at the killer to ragequit, they might "do whatever it takes" to try to get Go Next reverted.

People that often ragequit are already rule-breaking people, why is it so difficult to image them lying on top of their unsportsmanlike behavior?

Because thinking every single person who's saying a thing has a shifty ulterior motive is paranoid. I also don't see what good it would do. If it's a hidden metric like MMR, only the devs know how it works, and they'll adjust it based on numbers more than a small outcry. Because this outcry is pretty small. People complain about tunneling a lot, but this occurrence is much less frequent. So we can assume the issue isn't huge and the occasiaonl complaint will do little.

That being said, if the system does catch innocent people, it needs revision. Your desired evidence won't tell you much though. What if I make a new account and DC a ton and then finally get a match where I get genuinely tunneled, post the footage, and say, "Look, I was tunneled and lost a Grade." The match footage won't give you the full picture.

People that often ragequit are already rule-breaking people

This is a massive assumption about people's characters based on very little.

Really? You don't think people would lie on the internet to get what they want?

You don't think it's really strange that we still can't get recent video evidence of this happening? After all the complaints we see about tunneling, and all the complaints we get about unfair S-tier killers stomping all over survivors, there still isn't anyone that can record video evidence of this happening?

I was wondering when this post would summon you.

That one I posted from Reddit is only a month old. And no, I don't think people across the whole spectrum of social media are lying about this relativity minor thing that either exists or it doesn't. I think they may just not be telling the whole truth about why it's happening. That, or they dont realize their history of DCing is also causing the game to think they're going next when they aren't.

  • @tes said:

The reddit post was done months ago, when people were actively complaining on suspicious activity bug. And it was turned off

If it was related exactly to this problem, the person could also get dc timer delay. But we all know that right now you don’t get it even after your first disconnect.

I just can say that from personal experience the only way to lose grade is disconnect purposefully/accidentally

P.S: Just as funny coincidence, it’s the third game rn when killer trying to hardtunnel me. I didn’t lose any grade and even climbed from gold 2 to gold 1

So I did find a Facebook post from 4 days ago where someone said this happened to them with a screenshot. I don't really have any reason to believe people would lie about this so I'm inclined to believe it.

Reading a bit more about it, it does seem to happen to people who have a history of DCing or going next. So I guess the question for OP is:

Do you have a history that could make this happen? Four times in a day seems quite drastic.

I think I've intentionally DCed once as killer, one internet-loss DC as survivor and some "dedicated server not responding" issues (which hopefully don't count) and that's it, so I basically have no history of DCing, which is probably why I've never seen this message. I'm guessing there's some hidden system of strikes against people who make a habit of DCing/going next. I would also guess that's why there's a lack of footage, because who wants to show that and get roasted for it?

I guess if someone wanted to test this, they coumd make a new account and DC and go-next a whole bunch and see what happens.

I still can’t find any proofs that death itself contributing to it and not dc, but whatever

    https://www.reddit.com/r/DeadByDaylightRAGE/comments/1n65p7m/i_got_a_warning_that_i_could_be_penalized_for/

I found this one, with a hacker killing everyone fast. The message at the end does say you can earn a Grade loss by intentionally dying--or more so, by the system thinking you did.

But it does also imply that the supposed behavior has to cumulative by saying REPEATED behavior MAY lead to Grade loss.

  • @tes said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4010313#Comment_4010313

I was hard tunneled by p100 Blight right now… so yeah, it was fast. Didn’t lose anything, and I didn’t find any info that you lose grades after dying in the game

However, I clearly remember period when I had terrible internet and sometimes was forced to dc/was kicked from the server. I immediately lost a whole grade after such dc.

I've seen multiple people in the forum claim grade loss and "suspicious behavior" messages after quick deaths so I don't doubt it's happening, I just don't understand how it's triggered. Maybe it's a cumulative thing, like if you have a history of DCs and fast deaths? I'm half tempted to get a party together and try to get myself killed as fast as possible to see if I can trigger it. I want to see it for myself.

Coz my friends wont play this game even when drunk, even popular streamers wont. Just ask anyone who plays any other horror game, they just sideeye this game like "yikes" when they are asked.

And the best bit, the players who play this game don't even play horror or watch horror anymore, it's just "DBD" players for the most part. At least from who I talk to.

What horror muliplayer is currently a genuine competitor to this game? Phasmophobia? Hunt: Showdown? Dying Light 2? None are even close to DbDs numbers.

  • OP said they "died too fast." So what is too fast? I certainly feel like I've died too fast before, but I must be lasting longer than I think.

  • @Munky said:

The problem is and always will come back to the fact that "swf exist".

You cannot balance killer in between solos and SWF. Killer will always be miserable, and solos will be miserable half of their matches. Because BHVR needs to balance in between the 2, and … it … is… just… NOT possible!!

If the game was only Solos, then BHVR could balance killers towards solos…

It is possible by buffing survivors with basekit aura like Kindred or Visionary, since that info is free for SWF already, and then buffing lesser killlers to catch up.

  • I know you said you play solo, but have you considered joining a group and trying out customs to practice? It's a good way to learn without the stress of a real match, and you can tell each other what you're trying to practice. If you've tried and tried for thousands of hours and haven't gotten where you want to be, it's not a bad idea to practice outside of serious matches.

  • Blocking does nothing. Unfortunately, neither does asking people to be cool because "I'm not responsible for your fun" and "I paid for this game and I can play how I want."

  • I got hard tunneled out of multiple matches yesterday and nothing happened. How fast do you need to die for this to occur? Do you have any footage because I really want to know how this seems to happen to so many people yet I've never experienced it.

  • @Rokku_Rorru said:

You mean all my friends and all the casual players I watch on streaming are wrong? there is countless people who think this game is awful.

I really think if this game wants to be better it needs to listen to the casual general audience.

Yeah I agree, it does need to listen to the casual audience. That's literally what I said. But you said the ONLY people playing it are sweaty comps, which is not true. They're a minority.

  • I play everyday and I'm far from sweaty. If your argument is that the upper MMR sweats and streamers are dictating the balance of the game then I agree but they're clearly not the only ones playing. That's the issue. A minority is pushing things in certain directions and everyone else is suffering for it.

But 2v8 doesn't prove anythjng. I wouldn't have touched the murder simulator that is survivor this time around if it wasn't for the BP bonus and play while you wait. Take those elements away and see how much people really want to play that mode.

  • More people have to play survivor for the game to even function.

I'm pretty convinced survivor is sustained by partying up. My survivor matches at night take about 5 minutes but my killer queues are instant, because all the friends are playing. I know a lot of people who never play alone. At this point, I won't either. I play killer when I'm alone, and even so, I still ignore half the invites I get. If partying up ever completely bugs out and people can't join each other, then we'll see how people really feel. I sure as hell wouldn't touch the role.

And it's more overturned new killers that are the issue, and global buffs. Updates/reworks for older killers are what's needed.

My concern with an MMR lock is the potential to be stuck with something you can't handle for too long. Some people sky rocket quickly, especially with easier killlers. I'm pretty sure most people would just get frustrated and quit a killer if they were losing every single match rather then struggle to improve, or wait for too lengthy of a lock to unlock. That's just people. Or, again, the more gradual ascent.

I’m agree with this, so even me is unsure how strict this lock should be even.

I think if 2 kills wouldn’t be considered as bad for killrate (idk, my theory MMR in this game also takes it into account, otherwise we wouldn't see it in official stats), while actually hard streak of losses from 5 max to 10 games will lead to gradual “skill adaptablity” it would be nice. I noticed it’s already kinda working, but mostly for survivors?… While killers is literally about something black and white.

I still find it surreal that me playing against 12 k hours and 150 hours being around 1k myself was caused by 9 games where I didn't 3k.

I still find it surreal that me playing against 12 k hours and 150 hours being around 1k myself was caused by 9 games where I didn't 3k.

That's pretty absurd, yeah. It needs to be tighter. Maybe more percentage-based, considering how much time you've played with the character and weighing the losses against that. So many of these matches were 2K? I thought those weren't even supposed to affect MMR at all. If they are, that's way too strict, unless you get like 200 2Ks in a row or something.

  • I also feel the shift towards better opponents when I get around 70% KR on a killer with a decent quantity of matches. Even when I know they're soloq, they'll work together seamlessly. There's none of that in mid. And I'm often unprepared for it. I've had it happen on killers who I've only even used half their abilities and I'm only doing well because my opponenets don't know how to counter that killer. Then I get really good survivors with a killer I barely know, and now they know the killler better than me and I'm screwed. The MMR ascent really needs to be more gradual and calculated.

I agree that the win conditions need to change. Soloq survivors are selfish and ratting or poor plays need to be combated. If the best looper in the match dies and their whole team escaped because if it, that survivor deserves a win instead of a death. And someone who ratted the whole match deserves a lose instead of an escape. On the killer side though, I don't know what you can do about the 4k obsession, because that's more about stats. As long as people have a number to thrist over or a social media audience to perform for, I don't know if you can stop their relentless pursuit. As it is, 3k is a win, yet the 4k slugging continues.

There's nothing MMR can do about smurfing though. You have a baseline MMR for that reason. Whenever I try a new killer, it generally gives me mid level players immediately. True smurfing is making a whole new account so you get new people you can easily smash.

How truly common is this chill-match MMR manipulation? I've never actually heard anyone admit to it. It's more that I've heard people accuse people if it. If this is that common, I'd imagine, rather than boosting their MMR and then lowering it with loses, killers simply periodically let whole teams go, making it so their MMR stays the same and never goes up at all. I don't know how you can combat that, assuming it's happening that much at all.

And then there's the number one issue: speed over quality. I'd like to see them implement a quick queue that matches you with whoever (basically what we have now) and a slower one that matches you better. If the slower queue is taking too long you can always back out and go to the other.

  • @MashedBroccoli said:

I’ve been known to be tamed, but its never a full group unless they all bring bardic or do something like that. Usually i’ll just let the tamer go. Or if we’re in a 2 survivors left situation and I see 1 survivor still cranking gens and I know the other is hiding for hatch. I’ll hunt the hider and let the gen doer go. I respect players who don’t quit too much to let the hider go on principle. If you hide you die. Be a good teammate, don’t be selfish.

Same for me. No rats leave my killer matches.

  • I wish there was a "sort of" option. I'm super memey as surv but I'm personally not going to let a whole team do 5 gens while I get whacked with pallets. I'll usually hit them to try to make them get serious. The gags are funnier on the survivor end.

But I also give second chances. If the match is a snowballing disaster from the get-go, I'll often just AFK until they can heal. If our platforms align I will even message people mid-game sometimes to tell them were starting again. Clean sweeps aren't fun. I also often give hatch, usually to the best looper, or if someone got screwed, like they went second stage. Griefing and temper tantrums will also make me let the innocent parties go.

So more second chance/compassionate than memey.

Good to know I'm not the only one!

Springtrap numbers decreased about a week or two after his release, but I still see him more than I do any other killer. The only one who comes close would be Myers, which I assume was a result of people playing him mournfully before his rework, and then subsequently playing him to try out the changes which were horrible

It might just be because of my MMR, but I was pleasantly surprised that after 2v8 ended, I ended up seeing a lot more of the older killers who were part of that game mode (a whole heap of Trappers and Huntresses, but also quite a few Nemesis') that I can only assume were a result of people (like me!) trying out new killers in 2v8 because it's lower pressure, and taking them to normal games.

Also as a lifelong fan of the films, I've been delighted by an uptake in Xenomorphs. Much more enjoyable than that week everyone was playing either Clown or Dredge…

I play with a lot of people of varying skill levels so I feel like I'm usually in the two middle realms of MMR depending on who I'm with.

I had the same assumptions about all the Michaels. I kinda always get a lot anyway too. Nemesis and Pyramidhead are common for me. Dredge I rarely see. Thankfully, not many Clowns either. Quite a few Wraiths lately. Looking over my last few days, it's all really varied. Pig, Ghostface, Sadako--even a Twins and a Skull Merchant.

I'm an Alien fan too but I don't love Xeno. I always do terrible against them.

  • @littlehoot said:

I actually keep track of what killers I get in matches in a spreadsheet (because I'm a lunatic obviously), and honestly? I barely see any Nurses or Blights. Over the last month, the killers I saw the most by a wide margin in 1v4 games (2v8 has it's own spreadsheet) were the Shape and the Animatronic. I've literally only had the Krasue in four matches since she launched.

Admittedly, right after he launched, there was a lot of Ghoul. But the amount of Animatronics after his launch was obscene.

Hello fellow lunatic. I also do this. I have a notebook on my coffee table where I write down match data for my survivor matches, like how many gens got done, how many people escaped, how many people were in the party, and what build I was using. Totally normal behavior indeed.

Your experience is about the same as mine. I played 20 survivor matches the day Springtrap came out. 85% were him (funny enough, I also had a Nurse and a Blight that day too). I still see a fair amount of Springtraps.

  • Yeah ratting is a hard no for me. I'm going to try to complete the objective until the match is over. If my remaining teammate is slinking around the map edge or going in and out of lockers then they're the toxic one because they're now useless. If you think the match is lost then hop on a gen until you can engage with the killer and practice your looping until you die.

  • I don't know why there's such a huge difference between the killers other people play against and the ones I do. I almost never see Nurse. Blight is rare. I've had a total of three Krasues out of 50+ matches since her release. I go 100 matches without seeing Ghoul. Wesker, I do see. Dracula, a little.

My most recent matches, for example, were Deathslinger, Chucky, Clown, and Micheal. I get a lot of variety. If anything, I get too many Micheals.

  • If you killswitched everything that people didn't like about this game you'd have to killswitch the whole game.

Threat of anti tunnel is not something killers should have to worry about either.

Best designed anti tunnel is the kind of anti tunnel that makes tunnel out not run into the killer in the first place.

not run into the killer in the first place

Killers have a zillion aura perks and add-ons, and Distortion is trash. Even the basekit BBQ idea was meant to give killlers free reads on survivors. Not to mention that now that survivors spawn together they're easily found immediately because the spawn is almost always obvious. You don't even need Lethal anymore. If I use a high-mobility killer, I'm on top of them ten seconds into the match.

At this point in this games existence, survivors are clearly meant to be found.

Whenever they don't use it, I assume it's because they find an element of the bugs interesting and want to see what happens. Sort of like those Huntress cheaters back in the day that basically became the framework for Trickster (in my opinion). Doesn't make you feel like much more than a lab rat, but it is what it is.

I would also think how exploited or detrimental the bugs are matters. The Streetwise one became really well known and was easy to do on any map, and the uproar grew and grew. I've been playing as Dracula everyday for weeks and have no idea how the overhead view and invisibility things are triggered. It's not happening to me on accident. The hellfire thing isn't exactly apocalyptic either. You counter it the same way you normally do—by swerving.

Yeah the games have horror elements, she does make sense. But she feels weird. Yet Nick Cage doesn't feel weird to me. And it's not a modern vs classic thing because Stranger Things and TWD both feel fine to me too, despite not caring one single bit about either of those franchises.

I totally get what you're saying. I think most of the recent licenses are ill-suited. It's not about comedy, and Wes Craven was indeed pretty much a satirist. There's been a shift in the vibe of what they're choosing, a different energy. Having a big cartoony vampire, Lara Croft, and a screeching anime boy alongside Leatherface, Michael Myers, and Chucky feels hella weird to me. Maybe its the different between life action and animated/game franchises idk

I'm not telling you how to act, I'm telling you why you're getting downvoted. You're belittling a huge chunk of the playerbase and you're acting like you deserve the Medal of Honor for it.

So the people in this forum are lazy, incurious, and uninterested in the actual facts of the topic at hand, only in saying or doing whatever makes them feel good about themselves.

And you were trying to characterize them as honest and unbiased?

This tone, aggression, and insult hurling isn't exactly winning people over to your side.

I don't care about downvotes, obviously, or I wouldn't still be here.

But are you really going to try and argue that everyone who disagrees with me has only the best intentions in mind when, even in cases where the facts objectively disagree with Survivors' prejudices, the actual facts are simply dismissed out of hand?

That wasn't a content creator's video, that was a replay from DbDLeague. Literal video proof of what I was saying.

If you don't care, then don't pat yourself on the back for your "bravery."

Just the wording of "Survivors' prejudices" shows your own so starkly. Survivors aren't a political fraction or an ethnic group, they're a role in a video game. Many people do, in fact, like both roles. I know few people who only play one side of this game. And even if you lean towards one, you can still speak for the other in an honest and observant way.

Nobody wants to watch all these videos.

I've received multiple downvotes in this thread even when I was making points that are objectively correct.

For example, I posted this competitive replay to prove that DbD comp isn't all just hard tunneling:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qqkbvsyC-hg

And nobody came out to agree with me over it- or indeed, ever brought it up again. They did hit the "Disagree" button 6 times, though. For what, exactly? Please give me a good explanation, because I'm drawing a blank.

Who cares about downvotes? Are they affecting your life? They mean nothing.

They're not objectively correct. You're wording is twisting Survivor gameplay to your view. You're trying to paint the more technical and info-heavy role as easy, which it isn't, unless the Killler is in a coma. If it were easy, Survivors would win more than they lose.

And people are tired of, "here, watch this content creator." Video links consistently get downvotes.

Hey, at least farming with friendly killers got a buff!
