  • I feel like this kills a lot of the strategy of playing survivor. I want something to be done about hard tunneling, but I don't want the game to play itself. If anything, soloqers need to understand when to do an unhook, which is a gamesense issue.

And absolutely no for this working in end game. Saving someone hooked in end game is supposed to be a stressful gambit. Having them locked in place would screw up the whole structure.

You have peace of mind knowing your team can't immediately farm you off hook while the Killer is nearby

Crazy this is even an issue. Soloq is wild lol

I can't think of one scenario where a Survivor needs to be unhooked quickly after being hooked

I don't know about need, but there are plenty of scenarios where it works for the survivor team. If the killler isn't camping or tunneling and is immediately back in chase, it's better to get the person off the hook and heal them so they can return to gens, especially if the unhooker was already nearby. It's also nice to be unhooked before the last gen pops to help prevent end game camping. Parties will maybe 99 a gen, but soloqers will make the wrong choices, as per usual.

And if this worked in end game and someone got hooked with less than 30 seconds left until collapse, they would actually need to be unhooked faster.

Sounds good. So if we're nerfing everything down to the level of the worst survivor item, im sure you'll be fine with current skull merchant being the standard for killer balance?

Yes, perfect. Turns out the true key to balance is making everything equally crappy.

  • If it only affected medits, fine, it'd be more like Lightborn. But it didn't. I picked up many an empty toolbox. That can counter whole builds of any sort.

Yeah no, I'd rather them bring gen regress, which is mostly just a nuisance. You can still do Franklin's/Weave. Pretty sure my opponenets would rather me bring regress:

Frenklins whole purpose (the degradation of item charges when left on the ground) was to counter medkits (which many were just with styptic or syrange and had charge addon) but now its only good with vecnas perk that gives you the aura reveal and by itself its d-tier perk and its in its current version overshadowed by jolt or sloppy butcher as perk for killer who uses m1 as his main damage type (slinger, hag, wraith, ghostface, legion you get the killers I mean).

Old franklins was as usefull as lightborn, just to counter items and thats its whole purpose (mainly and mostly medkits because toolboxes and flashlights doesnt suffer that much from charges degrading), hate it or not its just fact now its only good with vecnas perk and thats it, alone its just waste of the perk slot.

Lightborn only counters one item. Old Franklin's destroyed all items. It was OP. Imagine if a survivor could bring a single perk that canceled the killer add-ons.

  • Mixed.

I like the theme. I like Vittorio, Ace, and Yun-Jin's outfits. The blonde Ace head will be my new memeing one for him.

Claudette, I feel neutral. The high-low style of the bottom ain't it. Maybe I'll like it more with the headpiece.

Spirit is awful. Still gonna use it just because, but I don't like it. The Dredge community skin is a hard pass unless they do it justice.

The recolors range between uninteresting and terrible. There's none for me to look forward to, unlike the dark and gold in Entombment. The badges suck. The charms mostly suck. The banners are a mix.

  • "We'll try again next time thanks for the money guys!"

  • Enjoyment is currently illegal.

Good point, but we are not testing for that. Only if tunneling is and how much is enough to make you quit playing Survivor.

I guess that means it makes me quit if I'm switching roles. But you have to account for whether people are in parties. I'd only switch if I was alone. With parties, we all just suffer together.

  • I actually like the survivor outfits okay. Trickster's is poorly executed. Spirit's is ugly. I liked the variety in the Entombment recolors but yeah, these are dreadful, particularly the last ones. They're like blindingly white. The badges and charms are also terrible. There's like two banners I like.

  • Unfortunately, this would have everyone blocking everyone for any reason. Personally, I'd probably block soloqers for ratting or not taking aggro, so I'd be blocking people constantly, which is unfair, because these people might improve. But I'd be mad and I'd knee jerk block everyone who aggravates me and many others would too. I've also had killer matches where I acted out of character and those matches didn't reflect how I normally play, and I don't want to be judged for just those.

  • Different choice:

Being tunneled multiple times makes me switch to killer.

I usually run a common camping aid kit with common butterfly tape and common bandages as addons. They're more useful than post-nerf fog vials and I'm far more likely to encounter a situation where I'm guaranteed to get more value out of it.

It doesn't take a syringe or a styptic to out compete what fog vials were nerfed into. The only time I've used them post-nerf is when I've had literally nothing else in my hands and I found one in a chest.

Same for me with finding them in a chest, which is unlikely because I run Built to Last and rarely need a switch out. Otherwise I only equip fog vials for memeing.

Before the nerf I was using them with a new build. I'd love to have something I want to use besides a toolbox. Now I'm back to my trusty genrush build. Hope everyone who wanted them nerfed appreciates that.

  • Streetwise, yes.

Franklin's, no. I'm doing great with it in it's current state and I'd never touched it before.

Revert fog vial opacity. Increase charges to at least 3.

  • As a killer who currently runs Franklin's/Weave, yes, please do bring items.

so yeah 100 percent, they will be the same as the last ones. Oh boy

I guess the extra time will make it better but there still isn't crap for a reward.

  • Krasue's is a new favorite. The killer herself, not so much. I also like Clown's.

  • It's hard for me not to think they wanted the survivor bloodweb to be more cluttered so you'd either, pessimistically, grind more or, optimistically, try different items and builds. My p100 bloodweb intentionally (you can not convince me otherwise) doesn't give me my most used items and add-ons. I even changed those items and add-ons and now those aren't showing up either. It's just key, map, and fogvial add-ons. And what is even the point? It just forces me to use a different character, which I don't want to do.

I experienced this a while ago on Grim Pantry too. Somewhere in this corner between main and the small two floor house.

The only hook which was remotely near this complete hook dead zone was on a hill with the way up being on the opposite side. So on top of the walk to this hill I would have had to go all around the hill itself. No way to get up there with the downed survivor, probably not even Iron Grasp would have helped. And both hooks which are usually found at main weren't there. Not sure, if it usually is only one hook on one corner, but that main had no hooks at all. Basement also was in shack.

Thankfully it is rather rare, but for some weird reason it obviously can happen.

The question is if it is only a rare bug regarding map RNG or if it happens more frequently to people.

I wonder too. If they hadn't kept going down over there I might not have even noticed, but they kept going back for their items so they kept getting downed there. It was a ridiculous match. I'm actually surprised only one botted out. I wish I could have gotten on comms and been like "I'm sorry there are no hooookkkkks."

The modes would likely be balanced differently. Partially its also my proposed fix for dealing with SWF vs solo queue balance disparity.

For example, lets say you have a casual mode, in this mode its solo queue/duo queue only, and the game is setup so that every match always has 4 solos, or 2 solos and 1 duo. Then you balance the game accordingly with different effects. Maybe basekit BT lasts longer, maybe survivors get basekit kindred. Maybe gens take 80 seconds instead of 90 etc.

Then in the ranked mode, its SWF only, and maybe in this mode survivors can only use a perk once accross the whole team, gens maybe take 100 seconds instead of 90, maybe killer gets basekit pain res etc.

Not all 4mans are pros working in sync. This would just discourage the teams of chill friends from playing together.

  • I don't know if it still is but this game has been free on PS Plus. I believe it is or has been free for Xbox's premium thing too. Despite playing everyday, I haven't spent that much on it. I wait for perks I want to show up in the Shrine instead. I don't want many of the IP killers. I think Vecna is the only one I haven't bought that I intend to at some point. But I prefer original ideas to IPs even if, like many people, an IP put the game on my radar.

Variety on my end is fine. I'm playing as Dredge as we speak and I've seen all of these killers you listed--even Artist and Twins--in the last week.

I'm sorry but skull merchant skins are a cruel joke and Felix's outfit feels a bit out of nowhere for me

I think with Skull Merchant having an outfit in both this and the Overgrowth Rift they're trying to encourage people to play as her. They could just improve her but, hey, this is easier.

There's also going to be torsos for Dwight, Vee, and Zarina, as well as weapons for Trickster, Krasue, and Oni. We'll see how those all look 👀

  • 199cd0b12008-screenshotUrl.jpg

I don't remember the previous numbers but I feel like this is going kinda fast for me. Maybe I'll stop feeling that way at step 7+.

  • @tjt85 said:

Purely from a visual standpoint, The Skull Merchant already looks like a MK character. They could probably do some pretty cool things with her drones, game play wise.

Otherwise I would say Spirit and Oni are the obvious choices, although it would be a little strange to see them punching and kicking their opponents. That said, I'm not super familiar with the more recent Mortal Kombat games (this old timer thinks the series peaked with the second game).

I've always thought Skull Merchant looked like a female Kano.

I dug the Deadly Alliance/Deception/Armageddon era but that's as far as I made it.

Lightborn is indeed fine, for the fact that it's a double-edged sword.

You will prevent an (early) flashlight save or two, but once survivors catch on they'll not follow you around anymore and instead be more efficient on gens. Or find other means to be altruistic.

It's a risk you take as Killer.

A double edge sword implies it hurts the user in some way. Worse case is that it does nothing. The survivors were going to do gens anyway, but they brought a useless flashlight instead of a medkit for said altruism or a toolbox for those gens.

  • Screenshot_20251010_014955.jpg

Lightborn is basically basekit for me. Even when no one has a flashlight, I bring it. I could bring much worse so be happy I'm sometimes wasting a slot on it.

    @tes said:

I bet you, lightborn is pretty chill perk actually. Compared to 4 aura read stack or some slowdown seeing franklin demise and lightborn is absolutely fine.

This perk doesn’t cancel saves completely. Sabo and pallet saves still exist, so no reason to be toxic towards such mediocre perk people use to chill a little

I'm currently using both Franklin's and Lightborn hahaha

  • Every third killer match for me has been Badham may the gods help me. As survivor I'm getting a lot of Toba Landing. A lot of Nostromo as both.

  • We don't need anymore pallets.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/GQ9H1PD0FPJD/51-actual.png

I've already talked about myself in multiple threads. I tracked my stats for a month, and my overall escape rates were pretty much higher than everyone else, and that is with 100% solo q games.

In one month, my actual stats were 66 survivor games at a 51% escape rate. But because the official stat tracker was still overinflating the escape rates, it placed me at 68.75% escape rate for the month.

And no one seemed to care that I did the whole thing as an experiment to see if the official stat tracker was broken, and that the official stat tracker was actually inflating my escape rate by 17%, and that might mean that other people have inflated escape rates on the official tracker. I thought for reals that someone would have been like "my awful solo q escape rate might be even lower than I thought it was, and this must be a conspiracy to trick survivors into thinking they are better off than they are", but no one cared.

You've posted these same chopped up, out-of-context screeshots multiple times. How old are these now? Months? I could post these two:

    Screenshot_20251009_210426.jpg Screenshot_20251005_142433.jpg

What does this tell you? Absolutely nothing.

I keep track of my survivor stats on paper. The numbers match fine. The data just doesn't sync up all at the same time. The recent matches are instant but the percentages come days or weeka later. It's easy to try to make it look wrong if you don't wait for everything to load in properly.

So your conspiracy theories now include BHVR padding stats to appease survivors? That's easily disproved considering how many people stream/record their matches. Many, many people would have noticed by now.

  • @Coffeecrashing said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4012967#Comment_4012967

Because context is important. If you are the type of person that thinks people should be able to ragequit if the game isn’t going well, then BHVR needs to know that, so that when you complain about Go Next, they know it’s because you want the ability to ragequit without penalty.

I've never complained about go next nor have I ever been affected by the system. There are many thing I want changed that don't touch me. All I've said is that there's no way to implement a system that can accurately read intent, nor is the current minor system that does so working properly. If BHVR somehow cares about the opinions of the 6 people bickering in the forums then they can look at my account and see that I have maybe one DC in my whole history on this game.

But what does that have to do with you ignoring everyone's counterpoint? If context is important, what does your gameplay look like? How much do you play?

If there is any other way to interpret this, please tell us what you meant.

Why would I continue to engage with you at this point? You completely ignored all the points by multiple people being thrown at you in the previous thread about this and just reverted to your zero-nuance mantra of RAGEQUIT BAD MUST PUNISH. You talk about this game as though it's a conceptual theory you've never put into practice and you only say something when you think you have a gotcha.

Why is it? do You feel and think twilight vampires are so? things are based on so I dont care about the books you read etc, but your answr was wiki based. So why is it too restrictive please tell me? cannot they be called other things? defintions are there is why movies based on so but calling this a zombie movie is by no means and well, no.

Because langauge and concepts change. If you want a pure definition of zombies, based on the historical context, they would have to be sorcerery-based. There'd be no scientific zombies, no infections, nothing about brains as either weak spots or food sources. Your definition's time and place is Romero. He didn't invent the concept, he just made a popular film that made it a popular concept (the voodoo zombie was already around in film though). Just like how 28 Days Later basically revitalized the subgenre, and everything that's come after it has been affected by it.

IdK anythinig about Twilight. I watch horror movies. Give me an example that wasn't aimed at 13-year-old girls and I might know it. Fright Night, The Lost Boys, Nosferatu(any version), Near Dark, Blood Creek (breaks all the rules), Cronenberg's Rapid (also breaks all the rules), Black Sunday, Dracula: Prince of Darkness, etc. But the history of vampires also has totally different parameters then what's in place now, which is mostly based on Bram Stoker's take and not the centuries of history that preceded it. And both creatures were essentially the same at one point: undead people cursed through demons or sorcerery to torment the living.

And again, I don't need Wikipedia. I have books. I also have multiple copies of Matheson's I Am Legend, hence why I know it's an early version of the concept. I have Mary Shelley's The Last Man, the first post apocalyptic book from which all others borrowed. I read horror and science fiction across the whole time frame of its existence. Some people do read, not just watch movies and Google things.

Both put really well. I won't lie, sometimes trials feel so hopeless that I barely put in the effort. But it's typically because of scenarios like these where it's a crapshoot. Sure, we might get out. But the odds are so stacked against us and easily nullified by the right perks/add-ons and/or camping/tunneling/slugging that sometimes I just don't wanna gamble it.

I keep saying it but it's true—the quality of the trials hasn't changed for me. We're just forced to stick it out regardless of how it's going.

As a counterpoint, it is true that winning is less valuable to Survivor. I don't need to escape to have a good time. But I do need to feel like escape is always possible and I currently don't. I also need to feel like I'm moving the trial forward or doing something fun in the process, which I also currently don't. So if Survivor isn't engaging, it's increasingly difficult for continually diminishing returns, and there's cries to punish us for even queuing up when we feel that way, why play at all? What motivation is there?

My killler matches where people try to suicide out are often 50/50. Some are utterly hopeless snowballs, with players dead at 5 gens up. Those I get the defeated attitude. The match really is over. But some are ones where victory is still very much possible and someone is just mad because they were the first hooked or something. Almosy every time someone brings a luck offering the first person hooked will go second trying to die.

But my consistent issue is that survivors lack a chance at comeback. Thats why hopelessness is so ingrained. I just now finished a killler match where I only had maybe four hooks when they got the gens done. Everyone was still alive. I managed a 3k. There's nothing like that for survivor. If the game starts bad, it's almost certainly going to end bad. Not so for killer.

I undersand what you are saying, to the point Wiki came into play of your answer. Resident evil the film, everyone in the movie with the Hive was dead, fair point and set out to enjoy blood and human flesh. Other films yes they use science but on a corpse, a dead being, again no one was dead with the rage virus.

I own about 30 books on Tibetan culture, religion, and history. One of them is a collection of folkltales called The Prince and the Zombie. Voodoo zombies I know less about, but I don't need Wikipedia's help with Tibet.

I'm talking about the RE games. Those garbage movies might as well not exists to me.

Like i said, they're not zombies, but you're definition is still too restrictive.

Do you even play this game?

  • Pretty sure they're stingy with BP so you keep grinding for items and add-ons. My p100 survivor is such a waste of points that I barely spend on him anymore and even so, I'm always just scraping by on my other bloodwebs, especially playing with multiple killlers and survivors. Despite playing everydayv (with multiplier offerings) I usually have no BP.

I’m indeed trying to meme as well, and just go there to loop the killer. One day I gave up completely and started trying to build a small heart with items from chests (thats surprisingly really hard). Sometimes killers are agreeing to 1 vs 1 or they just become friendly. But people also tired, so I don’t mind if killer slug whole team in min and let us abandon to go next. Few days ago I dced second time in my life as ragequit, because my teammate disconnected

Oh lord you're making me want to bring a chest build so I can make shapes with items.

You are naming one off scenarios this is not something that happens even every other game, no matter the mmr.

Scenarios that happen to me every time I play the killer role.

  • If you have a team mindset then find a team. I made a lot of my friends by adding people who were like me, wiling to die for strangers.

  • I've been wanting a special event perkless mode for awhile. I would love to see how killers do without aura and regress, and how survivors do without exhaustion and second chance. No add-ons, no items--nothing.

Honestly I've dealt with my discontent the opposite that you likely would: by memeing. If I'm in a group, it's getting harder and harder to play serious. That's as survivor. As killer, I guess I'm feeling fine.

Have to worry if you're the next one. What the hell. I never go into a survivor game thinking is this my time to be tunnelled. If you get tunnelled 1 in 10 that isn't problematic. Tunnelling is apart of the core gameplay of dbd. Hook states exist therefore tunnelling and camping exist too. Every game has it's pros and cons. If something is that bad and miserable why keep playing? I'm very curious. Most people stop playing a game they find miserable. It's not as bad as everyone makes out that's why. You all want the game to go into a certain direction without thinking about the bigger picture. You're breaking the game with what you want the devs to do. The game was in a miles better state when it was rank 1 - 20 and without Anti this or Anti that at basekit. That was peak dbd for survivor and killer. The best fun times I ever had. That's a fact

It's only bad when certain players choose to make it so. I'm not talking about tunneling because you're desperate and the match is almost over, or seeing the same person again and pursuing them even though you weren't looking for them. I'm talking about people deciding the first hook they get is going to die immediately. Sometimes it's one in ten but I've had days were I played ten matches and seven had hard tunneling in early game. I was hard tunneled three times in a row just yesterday, and those were just the consecutive instances.

I'm not miserable as killer because I have all the agency. I keep playing survivor because I play with friends. That's the whole appeal at this point. And many of my friends are burning out and leaving. But soloq can rot. I'd like it to be better but nothing is being done to make it so.

You all want the game to go into a certain direction without thinking about the bigger picture. You're breaking the game with what you want the devs to do

Could you enlighten me as to who "you all" is and what it is that I want the devs to do?

Something like that, yea. Didn't stop really either. Lots of baby killers today for some reason too, or just really bad players. Can't say much for half the survivors, couple games ago someone let me and other person die on hook at the same time….. Forced final girl I guess.

And yea, if you're going to play in an unfun, hostile, or "flip the table" way, that's called being toxic. I don't make the rules, but I will call it out.

Not everyrhing is toxic. That word gets thrown around pretty liberally. And you can't DC because you dont like a character and then call killers toxic for DCing.
