Survivors need to have SOME safe spaces to run to. Otherwise why should they bother running at all when spotted. Those loops are safe for ONE survivor ONCE only. Unless a killer stubbornly refuses to break it.
You're ignoring the fact that survivors can string loops together. Even if an area is made unsafe, that broken wall can shorten the time it would take to make it to another loop.
Plus no loop should be completely safe. otherwise why would a killer bother chasing a survivor around it if they know it would waste a large amount of time doing so? Time they could be using to push survivors off of gens.
-
I wish I could, but for the ones on live, survivors keep running to them T.T
-
@Freddy96 said:
2 seconds to break them (usually there is 1 breakable wall in the whole map that needs to be broken). Once they are broken those loops are worthless and they also removed some pallets around them. If the killer spawns near them that time is completely irrelevant.
And even with bloodlust what are you gonna do around them without breaking them?
It's less about bloodlust and more about how they're retroactively adding god loops back in with breakable walls. Then saying they've gone back and tweaked problematic loops.
In some cases they even created more by adding a breakable wall where an open doorway used to be.

Nobody is defending the walls. If you want to make a click bait title about god loops, then expect people to point out the obvious. Which is, they're not.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1761235#Comment_1761235
It's not a god loop. If I refuse to break shack pallet and run around infinitely with bloodlust tier 9999999, that's my own fault. This is distorting an actual issue - which is real god loops. Like old storehouse.
As others have mentioned here, breaking the walls takes time. Time that would be better spent patrolling gens that could already be halfway done by the time you get to them.
Even if it is only a 2.5 second interaction, the time wasted going there, breaking it, and going back on patrol, adds up.

I despise breakable walls, and I think they're incredibly poorly implemented, but they're also incredibly easy to get rid of. I can't say I disagree with you, but if the Dev's are hellbent in having god loops in this game then I'm much rather them have a breakable wall.
God loops shouldn't exist in any form.
If they want breakable walls, put them in loops that are unsafe already. That way the killer can either break it, making the loop extremely unsafe later, maybe costing them the chase now. Or keep it, because the loop is tolerable without wasting time breaking it.

or we could not have a god loop with a pre-dropped pallet to begin with. How about just remove the wall and no god loop at all since those are bad for the game and just make the killer either waste their time now or lose a chase later.
I don't get why people defend the walls, you explained it better than I could have.
-
@gibblywibblywoo said:
I'm no fan of the breakable walls but its a 2 second action.
Time matters in this game, I shouldn't have to spend it breaking a wall that didn't used to be there.

@oh_0k said:
Breakable walls have been horribly implemented since they were first added but the devs still do nothing about it
Really frustrating tbh, a normal map suddenly becomes really survivor sided just by adding in breakable walls that create god loops
Yeah, all of those doorways were open before, and perfectly fine without a breakable wall.

me bad at mindgaming, let me hold W for 15 seconds real quick so survivor cant do anything
Same goes for survivor, holding W will actually work against the killer now

Then rename the title of the post to something like: "Bloodlust is necessary for the current game", rather than a blanket statement that it's a bad thing to remove (otherwise it makes it seem like you're saying it's a good thing).
Fair point, title should now reflect the content of the discussion.
-
Yeah I feel you with red ranks. I just came back from a decently sized break, and I am not having fun in red ranks.
MMR was supposed to fix the rank issue, but made it worse by putting new players against veterans.

We do, this is just a general discussion on if bloodlust were permanently removed.

Sounds like that's an issue with loops that shouldn't be bandage fixed with a mechanic that takes so long to trigger.
Like I said, if maps were balanced, then bloodlust could be safely removed.
-
@gatsby said:
As a Rank 1 Killer player, I believe that removing bloodlust will help the overall health of the Killer roster.
In my personal experience, stronger Killers like Spirit, Pyramid Head, Deathslinger, Freddy and Huntress rarely ever get in scenarios where bloodlust is needed to secure kills because their powers are strong enough that they usually come into play during chase.
While weaker Killers, like Legion, Ghost Face, Wraith, Trapper and Clown all frequently need to bloodlust to secure kills because their powers have more glaring gaps and weaknesses where they can’t help at loops.
Removing Bloodlust should be a great way for the Devs to collect data on the weaker Killers and start to prioritize reworks and buffs. Because the Killers that suffer with Bloodlust removed will become super obvious during the test and should rise to the top of their list if they want to balance the game with Bloodlust being removed in the future.
if it does end up being removed it would hopefully accentuate the balance issues with maps.
But knowing BHVRs track record they'd probably slap a breakable wall here and there, then call it a day.

Bloodlust as it is right now promotes Killer gameplay that's detrimental to them in the long run.
You need to figure out ways to get a hit in without it (Get a hit in before it triggers). Otherwise you're wasting too much time on one person. And Breaking pallets is necessary.
It certainly feels nice to have a bonus pop when you're focused, but it gives a feeling that it's necessary, when it's actually detrimental when it happens at all.
When a killer gets a hit, the majority of the time it's due to bad positioning on the survivor. If a survivor knows where to be and how to loop effectively, nothing can be accomplished. Then the killer will break chase to try and find the weak link of the four survivors.
Killers should not have to rely on the mistakes of a survivor to accomplish anything.

@PassarinoT said:
I mean I think it's fine if the devs follow thru with making a lot of safe pallets slightly less safe like they said in a livestream a while back.
Kinda like how they said they were going to optimize console...

@BigTimeGamer said:
Hot take; holding w around pallets is bad and being rewarded for it promotes bad gameplay
That isn't much of hot take. It's true for good survivors who know how to string loops together.
If they know what they're doing, they're essentially untouchable

Just now, BHVR revealed through in-game news that they'd be disabling Bloodlust for the weekend on the live versions of the game to understand the effect it has better.
This isn't the horrible part.
They've admitted that the Huntress' perk, Beast of Prey, will become useless as a result over this weekend!
Honestly, BHVR, how do you expect us to compete with these sweaty 4man SWFs that I face every single game without fail and always make me lose, using their crutch perks like Quick and Quiet (I already made a thread on how this perk was so OP and needs an 80 second cooldown at tier 3), Calm Spirit, and Urban Evasion?? My Spirit with Stridor, Ruin, Undying, NOED, Mother Daughter Ring, Yakuyoke Amulet, and an Ebony Mori is just so weak in comparison to what she could be like with the Godly perk that is Beast of Prey! This is unacceptable and I demand a refund on all of my skins for making this game such an unbalanced mess! Honestly, I'm so close to uninstalling over this disasterous move, this is just more proof that the devs are toxic entitled survivor main who don't care about us killers at all!
I can't believe you've done this.
Ah [BAD WORD], I can't believe you've done this.
-
Honestly with the way the game is currently balanced it is a needed mechanic.
A decent amount of loops are safe, and those that aren't can be used to string multiple strong loops together.
Plus with how quickly games can go, something is needed to make chases end sooner.
If loops, game time, and perks were balanced. It could be safely removed.
( this is without mentioning the slow moving killers )

I mean, not really, but I can respect your opinion. How old are we talkin' here? The Shining is nearly 4 decades old at this point, and that film is a masterpiece.
Citizen Kane is a fantastic character study, ans I think Halloween is genuinely more scary than most modern horror cinema, and both of those are much older than The Shining.
I like movies, sue me.
Mainly referring to the classic slasher movies.

New movies should have better dialogue/writing because they should be learning from their predecessors mistakes. It amazes me when it's a remake with worse writing/dialogue than the original. 😂
Or one remade except with an all female cast. Those are usually the worst.

If this were happening, it would have happened by now. There's just not a lot of financial incentive for bhvr to proceed with this.
Map reworks seem to be priority right now. Largely because old autohaven is sooo ps4 and 2021 is sooo ps5/x.
Even some of the map reworks make the framerate issues worse. Which I find incredibly funny since they claimed the graphic reworks would help with it.

https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/49456/status-update-optimization
March 2019 this dev update and roadmap outlined a detailed plan to bring low end PCs and consoles to 60fps.
We’re coming up to 2 years later and they don’t mention this anymore, they haven’t said they stopped working on it or it was impossible.
Last we heard this was the update we were getting over time and now a lot of us feel like mugs for supporting the game over all the years expecting something like this and then being thrown away after taking so long that a new generation of hardware is out.
People have every reason to be expecting these things that we were told to look forward to, and people have ever reason to be upset and disappointed to be told to suck it up and just buy a new console because they never did what they said they were doing with the old consoles.
After all the crap they've put us through this year, and especially after that [BAD WORD] show that they called an event. I'm finding it hard to have any patience when it comes to BHVR.
And since you pointed out the date on that update, it is really looking bad on their end. They claim that graphic updates to the maps will help with the framerate issues. But some of those redone maps make the issues even worse.
I've gotten to the stage where I've lost hope in this game. It could be so much better, but the devs consistently fail to meet expectations.

I don't even care about the 60 FPS anymore but is it really that hard to fix those stupid frame drops at the very least?
So infuriating how many chases/games i've lost because i got hit by sloppy/noed/freddy,got bloodlust,someone dead harded/opened a chest etc.
How are we still dealing with crap like this after 4 years? >:(
Same here, I've lost so many chases because the game decided it wanted to die the moment I lunge at the survivor.

omg they were made literally years after dbd came out on xbox and such.
its not easy at all to reconfigure an entire system to be optimal every time they slightly improve a platform
the devs literally have to mess with THOUSANDS of lines of code, if you haven't done programing you wouldn't fully understand the scale of changes and bug testing needed to do what you want and now they have to make sure it works on multiple platforms each with their own performance issues and such so there is no standardising the code to fit each platform.
its one of the reasons in the update logs we have separate ones for each platform.
So was dead by daylight. Both the ps4 and xbox one released in 2013. Dbd released in 2016. I admit, I know next to nothing about coding.
But they havn't done any major optimization since release. They promised console optimization two years ago, and in that time have done essentially nothing.

@AChaoticKiller said:

the next gen consoles have better performance obviously. It's easier to improve the games performance for them.
the devs can't just wave a magical wand and boom they can improve performance for everyone without having to mess with like everything first without breaking the game.
what your asking is a lot easier said than done when your limited to what the platform can do.
Both previous gen consoles can run Red Dead Redemption 2 no problem. If they can run that game without issue, then they should be able to make DBD run without issue.
-
@AChaoticKiller said:
because the game was not stable on those platforms and the issues were easy to identify and fix.
why would they not prioritise that?
Because previous gen has been having consistent framerate issues when anything occurs in a match since dead by daylight came out. Which you'd think would have been fixed after four years on the same consoles.
As far as the glaring issues on next gen they already fixed that. But the framrate issue is essentially not present on any next gen console.

There should be something that prevents the possibility of those that have played for long enough to have full load outs from playing against new players that are just learning the game. I know the new MMR is supposed to match based on skill but new players should get some extra protection against experienced players. Maybe something like if you have atleast made it to level 30 with any character then you should automatically be bumped from brown to yellow rank and not allowed to drop past it. The amount of times I've been matched with a rank 20 killer that has ebony mori and full purple load out with all random character teachables is pretty ridiculous. Or I get a random rank 20 survivor in my lobby with p3 outfit and meta load out. At my rank it doesn't matter to me BUT it's pretty screwed up they'd normally be matched with a new player.
They could add something that tracks playtime, though I guess that would be expecting a lot of a company who can't even do console optimization

i mean bro ps5 is worth the purchase, i am a pc player so i can get 120 fps if i wanted to but demon souls and ghost of tsushima make me salty and jealous for once as a pc player
the real problem is buying a console just for dbd, now that is a terrible decision.
Well first of all you're assuming I have money

If they deleted the DBD we have now and replaced it with the mobile version, we would have a superior product.
Auto-aim:
Base DBD
- Well ackchyually it's technically called Aim Dressing and we aren't changing anything and...
Mobile DBD
- Can be disabled.
Game Optimization
Base DBD
- PC players have been waiting for graphics settings for years, and are required to change engine files instead. Last gen console gamers are being left behind after being promised fps fixes.
Mobile DBD
- Can be run on a phone.
I'm still mad that we're not getting console optimization
I'm not paying around 600 dollars just to be able to play at 60 fps. Something that should be on the base game already.

The punishment for getting to bloodlust 3 is staying in a prolonged chase that will cost you gens.
In the current time crunch meta bloodlust is definitely needed. Not to mention the whole safe pallet thing you brought up.
Until the game is slowed down, and loops made less safe, it should remain in the game.
