  • I see of no reason why going AFK at spawn would get you banned.

Everyone I know would be banned by now. As an AFK killer, gens can still get done, doors can still get opened, and survivors can leave.

You will probably have zilch for points....but again....I see of no reason why having to run to the store or needing to cook dinner...etc. would get anyone banned.
  • I would like that as an killer perk. Causes 1 random totem for each survivor to be randomly linked to one of their perks, and when cleansed kills their perk.

In this scenario, only if it was a hex perk would a killer lose their perk.

5 totems....1/5 chance for survivors to lose their perk. (unless we allow for any survivor cleansing an affected totem to make another survivor lose a random perk...)

If we go with the parentheses addendum...We would need to find a way to slightly balance it more I think. (Perhaps if it too was a hex perk,(("The house always wins")) and it was unable to be affected by it's own ability.)

Then create a counter survivor perk that tells what each activated hex totem is at a cost. "Blind Hope". The cost would cause exhaustion, or aura blindness.....or....ooh, it causes terror radius heartbeats/deafness for some many seconds.

  • hmm, this would prevent killers from puppy guarding them too closely. And it should make it a bit harder for survivors to pinpoint.

I like it for it's simplicity....and yet, it still leaves me wanting more. I may be over-complicating a system that doesn't need it...lol.

  • Still wanting a story mode. Or at least some healthy exposition.

@ren_knock They do though. I've played Survivor against her recently and her addons definitely do work. Unless it's just showing that it's slowed without it actually being slowed. And yeah. Amanda's Letter is the worst addon in the game, I will agree with you on that. If they're going to decrease my trap count, I should atleast get a one hit with my dash.

I use that particular add-on when I use her ambush only build. Combine a good detection perk, some form of aggravation, and a buff/stealth/2nd detection....and scare the beejesus out of everyone you can.

  • I wouldn't mind them altering the overall Hex totem system all together.

Placement as it stands now is indeed a problem. (Although, they say they have been fiddling with this.)

What I suggest, is on entering a trial no totems spawn.

After a killer has hit a survivor once, (they have acquired their essence if you will) they can then "build"/place a totem down.(of course there will be rules about placement...but so far, so good.

Upon building a totem and placing it....it is linked to the survivors essence and that survivor is hexed/cursed. (multiple totems do not increase the effect, but prolong until all linked totems are broken. Their will be a cap of allowed linked totems.)

The standard curse without perk involvement would be something like, reduce movement speed or action speed....or apply in some weird way perhaps. (like causing an hallucination of a completely different killer appearing, or things get odd and surreal. The walls having faces in them....voices of random things being heard...your survivor suddenly looking hurt but is completely fine. Insanity effects that make the survivor and player question reality.) Like a real hex would function.

New offerings could be added to allow "Dull totems/Dummy totems to be placed in the map ahead of time. 2/3/4 perhaps. They look the same as the other totems, but they don't affect/remove curses.

A new killer perk could be added that allows you to hide/camouflage a certain number of hex totems as Dull totems and possibly cause exhaustion or aura blindness for a limited time.(being it takes force of will and stamina to push back the "shroud of despair" that has concealed the hex totem.

A new Item could be added called something like "Holy/glowy pendant". Without which, Totems can't be broken at their normal speed....or at all possibly. What do most survivors know about magic and dispelling evil anyway? The pendant would be an easy catalyst to generating hope and breaking the curses of the entity's "Forced Soldiers."

A new survivor perk could be added that increases cleansing speed(since now there is a chance for approx. 12-15 totems on a map at any one time.) and at tier 3 could be better at dispelling the shroud of despair. This one I would call "hidden hope".

It's not a finished idea...but I think it has potential.

  • I know what you are feeling. I've gotten so bored lately, I've taken to trying weird things to see if I can get a game reaction.

(like placing a toolbox on top or near a golden one and seeing if it does anything. exploring the maps, hunting for clues to a deeper purpose or meaning to the overall game, perhaps a way to fight/excape/confuse the entity.)

Hello. i got my ps3 controller laying around in my house and im wondering if i can use it while playing DBD since i wanna try something different.

Ps3 controllers are not compatible with PS4. If you meant with Pc, then possibly with software. It's something I looked into in the past, but I have forgotten if I was successful or not.

If you wanted a controller for Pc that's easy to plug and play....I recommend one of the xbox controllers.

if it was for the ps4 ....then, I got nothing, sorry.

  • I shall direct you to a previous thread made about 4-5 pages ago...

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/3461/when-will-console-get-the-2-0-0-update#latest

It basically states that we are waiting till microsoft and Sony get their butts in gear and finish the certification.

Supposedly the tournament is on the 23-24 of june.....so, hopefully before then.

As a ps4 player in the US i find lobbies in about 15 seconds as well

As a US killer, I find a lobby very very quickly. (And then if I don't get a 3/4 summon wait, I usually can play in less than a minute after.)

As a solo survivor, I find a lobby in not too long a wait. (About 1 min or less. The problem then is how many dodges do I wait through. Generally 2-3)

As a Survive with friends Survivor, I wait a really long time for matches. This could be dependent on time and rank. (Anywhere from 10 minutes on average, to 45min-1 hour on a bad day. Then factor in the high level of dodges, 4-5 on average....7-8 on bad days.) There is a possibility of going 2-3 hours without playing a match in this setting.

  • Hag Main, followed by Huntress and the Pig. (Then myers, and others.)

I like the feel of jumping out and surprising people. Of being almost everywhere and nowhere at the same time. Creating that sense of uncertainty and unknown danger.

  • This reminds me of when I first got done watching Jumangi. I kept hearing drums at weird times.
Every now and then I think I hear whispering coming from one of the empty rooms in the house...but I'm the supposed only one home. (I chalk it up to chatty spirits and me being a magic user, and grab a cup of coffee.)

  • Do I want challenges, new modes, and something different and rewarding to be a part of DBD? Definitely.

Should I pester the devs for such things after they just released a major update? Highly doubtful.

From my experience with this game so far...after such a big update....behavior will have it's hands full squashing bugs, fixing issues, and re-balancing things.

I would love to have more to do then swat at survivors as I run them about, and play the generator circle game while looking for something interesting. (Part of me hopes that they will finally drop the hint that their are secret objectives that can be accomplished in some way. I need some exposition. I need more than a chase simulator.)

  • hmm...we could open a poll of some sort on the forums. (it wouldn't be the most accurate....but it could give an estimate maybe.)

  • Already taken by one of our happy forumers it seems. Enjoy the new game, whoever you are.

  • I recall in another thread where several people were talking about the futility of ranking up and prestiging.

not_Queen replied and confirmed that they plan on going back over these systems and possibly altering them. (This was after the leaderboard system gets activated first though.)

  • Such things cause players to usually swing between:

"Let's work together to get the most for everyone."

    and

"If I don't really knuckle down and get what I need/want then everyone else is going to leave me in the dust."

The former can lead to dependency and complacency in some situations. The latter can create "try-hards" and people who view other players as resources.

Both paths will only get possibly worse from there. I shouldn't have to paint the worst case scenario...

How you going take away pallets make killers faster I mean i use my lithe thru a window and 2 seconds later im downed

I suppose you meant "bloodlust". Which is where killers in chase get faster and faster until they hit you or break a pallet.

They "altered" the pallets supposedly...but sometimes I wonder. So I suppose that would be your crux if I'm interpreting this right.

That...and lithe's speed up can't compete with bloodlust. It's helpful, but if the killer is determined enough...and you continue to be chased(whether you want it or not)....then they will catch you eventually.

This game has slowly devolved into a game of numbers and time. Almost like dealing with triage in some ways.

  • I would like to see more modes, something different. Break up the monotony of rinsing and repeating. A feeling of stagnation. Something not as competitive in terms of players. Perhaps a story-esque mode.

The few friends I have tried to pull to this game have basically said: "That's it? That's a mini game. Where is the rest of the game? Surely doing the same thing over and over can't be all that fun."

    I slightly agree.

Hmmm.....I just got a weird idea. Has anyone seen "cabin in the woods"?

Now, one of the interesting parts of that was how "the killers" had technically more than one objective.

-They had to prevent the survivors from leaving the trial in multiple ways.
-Obviously they had to kill them....but they required a few things to be initiated here and there. (Like, the "virgin" had to be killed last. And certain survivors couldn't be "properly killed" till they exhibited certain archetypes.)
-They had to work towards a greater goal than killing the survivors.(they had motive)=not sure this one is really helpful in our case though.

The survivors, likewise...also had a bit to do.

-Get to the bottom of the mystery/conspiracy.
-Survive the encounter with the killer.
    -"Escape"....(different than simply surviving.)
-Work towards preventing the overarching "evil" goal. (This ties in with surviving and escaping)=may be hard to apply to this game...but who knows.

Such a format or something similar could be applied to dead by daylight as another mode, or an increase to the current one.

  • The most horrific and terrifying killer/creature I have ever witnessed is...

The dark fae-like creatures from the movie: "Don't be afraid of the dark"(2010) ,and the supernatural beings from the movie: "They"(2002)

If I had to choose a killer on dead by daylight that emulates that sense of fear... I would say the closest would be Myers, Amanda, or Philip.

The creatures in the movies above dripped with the unknown and supernatural, and yet....against every rational thought I have....I know in some way....these beings are honest to goodness real....and that's what terrifies me.

It doesn't matter if it's daytime, or you have someone else with you, Or you try to arm yourself.....in the end....it doesn't matter. Nightmares born real. When suddenly the unknown becomes terrifying, and you know it's real....horribly real.

  • Unsure, but I believe myers can fully stalk a person more than once...it's time based?

As for "the shape's whole power is based on lunge and the one shot"....I believe you are forgetting how effective and silent he is at tier one.(and somewhat creepy)

Ps. Please, please, start putting spaces between your paragraphs. Thanks for an interesting post though.

Ah, Camping. A useful strategy to be sure.

I feel that as a killer, there is a healthy balance with using it. Sometimes I will deliberately just let the person get unhooked, wait a moment, and then go see if they ran towards any friends for healing.

As a survivor, it is saddening to be just hanging there, being watched....but at least other survivors aren't being chased. It's when the "team" is all over the place, not really doing anything that gets my goat. No point in leaving though....don't want to throw the game.

I''ve let them off the hook before then waited 20-30 seconds and went to find someone again, problem is i always run into the one that was hooked and then get loads of messages about tunneling deliberately.

I too know this problem. 9/10 times, the survivor that got unhooked will run in an obvious straight trail, or hide way to close to the hook and then freak out when I get near. (I almost want to tell them to try Iron will, but they already have a lot on their mind.)

The other dude that did the saving either has been long gone, or they hid a bit further away.

  • yeah....that's...that's not supposed to happen. Take a video, gather some data on it, and tag a mod to move this to the bug section.

To reiterate the things Behavior could use from you...

Basically all we need from you great people is:

1.A detailed description of what the issue is.
2.Any reproduction steps (without these we don't know how to reproduce it to fix it)
3.Screenshots and/or video reference. A video is especially great for any audio or graphical issues or something not being functional."

  • Ah, Camping. A useful strategy to be sure.

  • It's weird indeed. The few survivors I've talked with about such an issue have said something along the lines of:

"If I get tunneled constantly, or get camped for the whole time and then get mori'd...they don't deserve it."

    Another one replied:

"Mori'd after one hook? I didn't get to do anything. If I didn't get any 'fun', why should he?"

    Another one:

    "The last 4-5 killers dc'd, why can't I?"

    And lastly:

"Why did you dc? We really could of used your help."
"Great lot of help I would of been."
    "What?"
    "He killed me!"
"Oh, why did you dc then?"
"I would of lost my item and add-ons."
"That is the risk of taking them in."
"I didn't even get to use it. Wasn't fair."
    "What about protective ward?"
    "I didn't know I would need it!"

Survivors seem overall disheartened by the fact that they can't get a sense of fufillment before getting mori'd.

Gamers I believe overall prefer having control over the enviorment they are traversing. Too little control, they get testy. Also, doing the same thing over and over when it isn't currently working seems to imply a steady decline to madness.

Don’t feel bad man I found one the second it was posted but I have console so I couldn’t even use it lol

Know the feeling. I'm tempted to buy a steam copy of dead by daylight since it's on super sale for the anniversary.

  • Oh, thank goodness. I didn't imagine it.

here's a link for those who were also wondering...

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/3564/question-about-the-deathgarden-masks#latest

until death garden comes out...it's a moot point in wanting the items. (although, the exclusivity sting...does hurt abit.)

  • Apparently, One of the events I saw while browsing was a pc exclusive death garden and dead by daylight mask "swap".(which they didn't mention oddly...)

Where meg would get a runner mask, and trapper would get a hunter one. I have been looking for this particular page for 30 mins to no avail. (I believe I too am going mad...or already are.)

  • When I first started the game, I noticed a large amount of players that would wait in the exit for the killer.

I asked them, why do you wait? Why, when everyone left is here?

Thier reply was: "It's only fair to show the killer where you are, before you go."

That's odd, I remarked. But explained why they kept throwing pallets down and vaulting.

Another answered: "because I have to show the killer I won."

Leaving, I thought already accomplished this.

The last one just said: "I'm just messing around with them."

I suppose there's one in almost every group.

It's a strange thing indeed. Unless I know there's a good chance of saving someone, I don't wait around.

There is no reason to "tbag" that I can see, unless you want to watch your character twerk.
