Old CE + Overcome. The chase is over. I'm sorry you didn't know how to use it to make it busted, but it was fun while it lasted. The current version could use another pass, but if you see nothing wrong with on-demand Elusive in a chase, you're delusional.
Oh please. First of all, you're idea is terrible. No one is using overcome. Second, of all. I wouldn't care if survivors were getting on demand elusive. It's not "on demand", but we can get to that later. Because unlike you I actually use my eyes to track survivors. You rely on the bright orange marks on the ground and that's why you think elusive is this super overpowered status effect that wins chases.
-
For the record I thought CE was a pretty good perk when used correctly, but using it correctly actually took a decent bit of skill. It's not a noob perk like SB or Lithe, something basically anyone can use effectively. That was what made it balanced IMO. But I don't even know what BHVR considers balanced at this point.
-
They really buffed Jason but then nerfed some of his addons by a second. Is this what BHVR thinks is balancing?

yeah, by survivors who refuse to have fun by using cameras. but they tell me that *Im* the problem
Can you blame them? I like Springtrap, but the camera stuff is unrewarding. You can be grabbed and for basically no reward.

i don’t think you realize sprint burst lasts 3 seconds
Okay I was one second off. You really gonna nitpick that? The point is it's three seconds of haste. Not a dozen. Not half a dozen. Three seconds. You're saying three seconds of haste is what stopping you from winning chases?

oh yeah so screw every single killer added before the killers that counter sprint burst (excluding nurse). this logic makes ZERO sense, even if it’s an indirect nerf, over 20 killers still struggle going against SB & lithe. just because newer killers can catch up to them faster, does not mean all killers can.
You know what? Spring Burst is only two seconds. I'm getting tired of people like you acting it's this insurmountable task to chase a survivor with Sprint Burst. To me it's not even a deterrent. I don't care if a survivor has Sprint Burst. I still chase them cause Sprint Burst is a good perk, but it's just a good perk. Nothing special.
-
Oh and they are nerfing Cross Examination, which I think is good in it's current state. BHVR is now listening to the people talking about EZ escape. Cause really, what's overpowered about Cross Examination? We finally get a fun perk to use and BHVR decides to nerf over the 20+ perks that are stronger.

Nerfed when????
I only recal dead hard and thats what 4-5 years since rework and its still top tier meta perk almost in every game and many survivors wonder majority of killers learned to wait it out or bait it and expect it often.
Yeah new killers have big utility but old ones get smoked by leftovers from pallet density and exhastion perks only hinder them more because they lack the powers to deal with them so this claim isnt that great.
Sprint burst was nerfed by adding killers that counter it? I just said that. And going by the trends BHVR will continue to add killers with bloated kits that counter perks like sprint burst.

Most exhaustion perks are fine sure, but that's because they usually need to be used in chase to get value. However the reigning champs Lithe and Sprint Burst are not only good in chase but are also very valuable outside of it to force a lot of killers to spend time catching up to you if they even want to begin chasing you. With exhaustion builds being a staple for any survivor build to help with chase, I think this added benefit in the macro game feels a bit much.
I don't think they need to be nerfed into the ground or anything like that, but I feel their flexibility warrants bumping their exhaustion timers up to 60 seconds instead of 40.
They have been nerfed already. Most of the newer killers make sprint obsolete. They have ranged attacks like Jason or just ignore it like Ghoul.

Why shouldnt exhaustion perks be rebalanced?
What's wrong with them? I know some people think two seconds of speed are overpowered, but they're really not.
-
Honestly, Vigil is the big overrated boogie man content creators love to gas up. They just hate that survivors have faster access to their sprint burst. But really, it's a useless perk if you're not running an exhaustion perk. I saw someone say it's counters clowns bottles therefore it should be nerfed. First off no one even uses clown purples bottles anymore, second people only use Vigil for exhaustion. They're not using it to counter any killer inflicted status effects.

This serious? Smells like bait to me.
Half these complaints are about not being able to indulge in pretty unpleasant and unfun tactics. Old 3 gens were so bad for the game before the gen kick limit. Nothing like being stuck in a 40 minute game with a doctor or legion locking down a 3 gen because they couldn't win a chase. Face camping was a genuine issue, and I almost never see a facecamp self unhook actually trigger because it's a successful deterrent. Is proxy camping not cheap and easy enough?
And the other complaints don't make sense. Diminishing returns affects survs and genrush builds way more than any killer stuff. Who even used deerstalker? NOED is still a huge crutch perk that gives killers cheap pity kills in endgame. And reworking broken add ons that were unfair to play against.
Slugging Singularities used Deerstalker all the time. The perk needed to be nerfed. I can’t imagine the toxic crap someone like Momo Seventh would pull if that trash was still in the game.
-
They hate killers so much they're going to nerf my new favorite perk, Cross Examination. They hate killers so much that 4 out of the last 5 killers were released as A tier. Besides BHVR put lightborn in the game, a perk that hard counters any form of light.
-
I’d rather play aura Nurse than Legion. At least Nurse has to work for her hits. Legion just gets free killer instinct because why? Legion needs his annoying free hits just to function as a killer. He’s the worst. And this isn’t even mentioning that most people run him with thana just to slow the game down to a crawl.
-
As you said, there really isn’t an reason to play ol Springy. Jason does everything better. My solution is not to buff Spring Trap, but I instead ask BHVR to stop releasing killers with such bloated base kits. Oh. And please nerf Jason. He’ll be fine even after his already bloated kit takes a hit.
I really just don’t wanna see Springtrap touched, cause he is like the last balanced killer we’ve gotten in two years. -
I feel like I wouldn’t hate Legion so much if killers didn’t run him with thana and anti-healing perks.
-
Survivors are the weakest they've ever been. They're basically lambs to the slaughter. I actually played DBD when survivors were strong and had great meta perks like old Dead Hard. I can tell you that's no longer the case. These days Windows and Deja Vu are what passes for meta. Playing survivor is now as hard or harder than playing killer.

Vigil - useless if you're not running an exhaustion perk, which I rarely do.
Shoulder the Burden - Why are people still calling this perk good after content creators got it nerfed into the ground? It's basically a "please put me on death hook" perk.
How old are Plot Twist and Off the Record? I thought we were talking about newer perks being bad. And last is Hyperfocus which I would consider niche and it requires a full gen build just to be good.

I think its been worse since the event started. Feels like the banquet tile messes with gen spawns
The worst part is I was playing normal mode. The event is worse because those tables take up spots where there are usually gens.
-
I feel all the people saying "free escapes" are just listening to the alarmist content creators. This perk is actually pretty hard to use mid-chase.

Tip#2
Healing under hook if the killer is not in a chase and you do not have specific perks for this you are doing nothing but giving the killer free info on 2 survivors and one is injured.
I've seen killers come back to hook even when they're in chase. It's really just one of those things where you have to use your judgement and game sense. Is it one of those killers who prefers to tunnel? Or is it one of those killers who prefers to keep map pressure?

You're clearly not aware of what the horror genre entails then LMAO
No. A lot of you are just hypocrites. Tomb Raider is not horror. That’s fact. I was seven playing Tomb Raider on my PS1 because ITS NOT HORROR. And here comes the “horror adjacent” nonsense which is just trying to mask your hypocrisy.

AoT and Tokyo Ghoul are both still horror, even though I disliked AoT there was still parts that were genuinely terrifying. Metal bands have been linked with horror for a while through their imagery and lyrics. And Scooby Doo may be children's "horror" but it still deserves representation in the game, same with the others I talked about. All but TG work best as cosmetics though
Tokyo Ghoul is a dark fantasy, not horror. Meaning it's dark, but it's not scary or horror.

Tomb raider has always been horror adjacent, look at tomb raider 1's flesh factory atlantis and the likes of 2013's prequel (the one she was taken from lore wise). I mean it comes with the territory of tombs too lol
Anime is definitely horror, they should explore it more.Tomb Raider is more dark fantasy than "horror adjacent". If Tomb Raider is "horror adjacent" then so is Harry Potter. And I have a feeling the DBD community would hate Harry Potter being added to DBD.

again as someone that played both sides saying killers having a crutch meanwhile survivors have so many new perks built-in and tons of passives that give them a major advantage shows the hypocrisy thats the play base has. I noticed this on both sides but survivors have more.
And so what? Killers get plenty of handholding as well. Killer instinct literally exists because BHVR doesn't think killer players are smart enough to play killer without help. Realistically doing Pinheads box or Houndmasters dog sniffing you should be the only killer instinct in the game, but we all know that's not the case in practice.
-
Can we stop talking about survivors handholding when killers get their handheld just as much if not more? They put red mist, screaming, and killer instinct on Jason because they didn't think killer players would be good enough to use his power without handholding. They're nerfing elusive because god forbid a killer have to use his eyes instead of relying on the bright orange marks on the ground. Elusive is really exposing how many killer players use scratch marks as a crutch.
-
Fortnite is one of the most popular games in the world, it has way more players than DBD. They must be doing something right. Imo, DBD has a problem with it's playerbase being all veterans. It's working for now. But will DBD really last like that? I think they understood that even though Tokyo Ghoul isn't directly horror, it's still a franchise that would bring in new players.

They nerf any perk that combats tunneling? So I'm just crazy whenever I load up DBD and see DS, DH, OTR, STB, Deli, Plot Twist? These perks are so nerfed that some of them have been meta for years and some of them are the strongest perks in the entire game.
And you just listed a bunch of perks that have been nerfed or reworked? And now BHVR is getting ready to nerf Cross Examination at the behest of content creators because elusive is too good at combating tunneling.
-
Unfortunately, tunneling is still very much meta. BHVR even endorses it as an official strategy. They nerf any perk that combats tunneling or makes it harder to tunnel.
Me I'm just grateful when I don't get killers that come back to hook to tunnel because that crap is terrible. I mean, I can at least understand tunneling at 1 gen. But the killers who do the crap right out the gate are the worst.
-
It's really only a big deal against the instadown killers. But I've always felt killers could do more if they were more aggressive. A lot of the time the end game is when it's easiest to snowball, especially since perks like NoEd are gonna be active.

He must drop those chases to defend the totem. A smart survivor would tap the totem and go hide.
The thing with Jason is he can just get right back into chase after checking his totems. I've played so many Jason's with ruin and I've seen how oppressive he is.
-
How is he not overpowered? Have you ever faced a Hex Jason with Thrill of the Hunt? He can get into chases and still monitor his ruin and devour hope.

It did go live tho, it's not been changed yet lol
What exactly about the perk is so overpowered? I use it and I can say it only works on bad killers, the people who rely on the bright orange marks on the ground instead of using their eyes.
-
@MarbleThrone said:
That's how it always goes.
New perk gets announced, has strong effect, people lose their minds, perk actually never gets used, people forget perk exists.
And yes, a nerf for it is already in the works. We know that it will no longer work while being in chase.Wow. They didn't just nerf the perk, they killed it dead.

Boons are one of the few mechanics that are kinda fine. Not crazy good, not unusably bad.
My only problem is why are they so loud? Hex totems aren’t loud. And they’re much stronger than boons.
-
Imagine waiting in queues for ten minutes just to tunnel. I can't be the only whose noticed the tunneling in this event. You brought a cake, you should know people are trying to farm BP. Go to normal mode if you wanna sweat.
-
Call me crazy, but I don't think BHVR should be nerfing perks that make chase easier after releasing a killer that forces you to take chase.
-
@coldflame said:
are we really debating if 'permanent elusive in chase' exceeds the power budget of a perk
theres various sources of scratchmark removal/reduction in surv perks and literally all of them are conditional or limited, the idea of a perk that unconditionally just disables your scratchmarks alongside the other benefits of elusive is obviously just insane
Permanent? What is the killer gonna let you follow him around like a Scooby Doo cartoon? I think CE is actually a hard perk to get value out of. It's balanced. But the same people who are always crying about "handholding" hate that they have to use their eyes instead of relying on the bright orange marks on the ground.
-
I was around when playing survivor was easy. Trust me, it's not like that more. Playing survivor is miserable unless you're in a swf. Even Otz is too much of a coward to play solo survivor.
-
I'm actually curious of how killers know they're being stream sniped. No one can see your username, right? How would people know it's you?
-
You could have a whole healing orgy in the corner during the time it takes to set up a table. Unless you're playing in a coordinated swf healing via the table is not reliable.
-
Maybe it's cause I only play for around two hours a day, but I really haven't had any problems with cakes.

yeah, but they are, and throwing the green mist is not interesting, it doesnt even has half the power of the suposedly weak stuff survs get my dude
The green mist is an insta-win for chases.
-
Killers get one really strong ability. Survivors get a bunch of mediocre abilities. And that's where all the complaining comes from. People who swear survivors are gonna stop at a cake mid-chase for three seconds of endurance.
-
This is like when killer mains swore blood rush and the new syringes were gonna be meta. Hows that working out? Oh yeah they're both collecting dust. All this stuff that looks good on paper is only gonna be good in cordnated SWFs.
-
There are already some pretty good perks for M1 killers. Coup, sloppy butcher, enduring, franklins demise and weave attunement. I feel like the problem with M1 killers is they're also a victim of killer power creep. All these pallets are a result of the game constantly introducing stronger and stronger killers.
-
That poison isn't random like survivor abilities and it's the strongest ability out of those mentioned. It's like a stronger forced hesitation.
-
Once again, it's SWF > Killer > SS. A lots of these things that seem strong on paper are only going to be good in a SWF. I have never seen anyone do the dinner table thing when the team needed it.

Deja Vu only became meta in 2022 and Windows in 2021. Deja Vu's original effect was quite literally the worst perk in the entire games history, and Windows was no where near as strong since it had a much shorter range and a cooldown
Thanks. I've been around awhile, but it's hard to remember some of this stuff.
-
One thing I've noticed is it's almost impossible to coordinate an end game rescue with solo survivor. It's crazy how many people don't know the proper play. But that's even assuming they try to rescue you. Most solo survivors will just stand at the door like cowards.
