Stretched res is bullshit I’ll agree about that but it isn’t used to often

Moonwalking is very common and counters the survivors inherent camera advantage mind you spirit doesn’t even have to

Yes but what I am trying to say here is that spirit against a healthy survivor is skin to a reverse situation to the norm for killer.

The killer has to use "advanced" strategies (moonwalking) to make up for the inherent disadvantage at mind games.

Of course the comparison is kind of a stretch but I think that this reverse situation is the reason for all the anger.

The argument that survivor want all killer to be played against in a similar fashion is an observable trend given that the most hated killer are the ones that can't just be looped like normal e.g. ph, slinger or spirit. Hag and nurse would also fall in this category but either have more than enough counterplay, are bugged or both so you find less "pls nerf/fix killer x" threads about them.

  • Not really a 50/50 with a 3rd person camera, being able to look from behind cover vs a first person cam while also having a red light shining in walking direction (and yes I know moonwalking).

And let's not talk about stretched res to look over some loopable obstacles.

Killer is a miserable experience so nobody wants to play. The only reason things changed is because half of the survivors played something else until desync was fixed. Killers should take note that if a large number stop playing in the same period you’ll quickly see changes to the game.

Its funny because survivor queues get longer and longer yet they want more and more second chances, more pallets, more safety, more killer nerfs. They want to have their cake and eat it too.

Maybe tone it down a little bit. I agree with you on most things to some extent. But if you keep this pace and tone up, people are going to think of you like "Ilovedemo" on the killer side.

  • You mean the one where you couldn't interact with the survivors at all when they were not fully asleep?

    Looks like you like pain.

Because of Huntress and Deathslinger. Not only did the desync make facing these killers atrocious but it also made dodging significantly harder because you moved from side to side incredibly sluggishly, allowing those killers very easy shots. In a way also Pyramid Head.

Don't know if I see wrong here but this vid shows that side to side turning is exact the same speed.

Why is nodding to the Survivors considered toxic? I've been doing it this whole time as a "That was a good chase, mate." sort of gesture or a self affirmation like "You are a strong Killer who deserves these Bloodpoints" when I finally hook someone, I didn't think anyone would think it was rude.

Is shaking your head "no" to a downed/hooked Survivor when they do something stupid or mean to other Survivors toxic too?

Well it is kinda the same thing as TBagging from the survivors. They can also mean something not toxic by it but are limited by the variety of emotes given in the game.

Same with nodding after a chase. You may mean it as "well done this was a good chase" but others do it and want to express things lie "finally got you, you little ....".

In neither case is the intention of the emote really clear and (since there is already a prejudice of negativity against emoting towards the other side) will probably be seen as only negative and toxic.

  • Afaik overcharge is only applied to the last kicked gen iirc, but I could be wrong there.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

    No.

I love blinding a gunslinger at a pallet and watch him shoot at nothing and then walk into a wall for 2 seconds.

Just as funny as a survivor going for the pallet blind while injured against a plague loaded with corrupt bile. xD

  • @ALostPuppy said:

Or they were just having fun with flashlights and head on with their friends and weren't this fabled "toxic SWF"? If 4 survivors are running head on I'm almost guaranteeing that they're not playing to win and won't be getting salty when they die. But sure if this makes you feel better.

Also in no other game have I seen so many people flame those that LOST and in such a circle jerk kind of way too. It boggles my mind.

Yeah because 4 survivor all with flashlights, head-on plus other maybe meta perks all while teabagging is so much fun for the already more stressful other side.

Their fun is when they feel in control via being able to blind and stun the killer and so on but this always comes at the expense of the other side. Same with the killer focusing one survivor down or using the most oppressive perk combination on certain killer.

Both sides don't have to play to "win" but with the intend to dominate the other side according to their own idea of fun and it will still come across as toxic.

  • @NoOneKnowsNova said:

Faced a 3 man once, all 3 of them brough flashlights and a white ward (the solo brought a med kit). They decided to do the locker strategy. Two players hide in lockers that are right beside each other, killer grabs one, surv hops out to blind the other. Whenever I see more than one flashlight, I run Lightborn. It was the quickest suicides I've ever seen, with them all running up to me once they realised.

I let last guy who wasn't involved in the swf get hatch, can't imagine how boring of a match it was for him with the long queues.

Still trying to get Lightborn on all my killers. Just like franklins.

The attempts while being immune are just hilarious. Especially satisfying when accidentally being prepared against last second switcher.

  • But hey at least they are probably gonna fix the desync problem as fast as possibly while leaving this for over a year.

And before someone says something like "that's not the same , yada yada yada", it literally is and maybe even more. A grab is, depending on the state of the survivor, worth not one but two hits when they go from healthy directly on the shoulder of the killer.

And is even the same problem of player to server connection but the other way around. The server sees the survivor already leaving the grabable position while on killer side it seems normal and than the server tells the killer "nope, too late sorry buddy".

SWF has the most potential but the OP isn't wrong in saying that SWF isn't automatically stronger than Killer.

Your "hierarchy" is meaningless because the truth is that only in the highest levels of play do SWF beat killer. And it takes 4 skilled survivors in comms to do that against a good killer. The truth is in actual play most survivor teams (whether 4-man SWF, Mixed or Solo) are not playing at that level.

Tournament play is the upper 0.1% of the playerbase. So while SWF has the strongest potential, the fact of the matter is most games never reach that potential, because it takes a lot of skill and teamwork to achieve that.

The real truth of the matter is survivors die in droves out there every day because Killers are the Power Role. Killers like to complain about how weak they are and how helpless they are, but they're doing nobody favors, least of all themselves, by wallowing in the victimhood mentality.

The OP though is no better he's just whining about what a victim he is as a survivor. Like I said, if he doesn't like it he can play Killer instead and see how easy it is.

And again like most often the "real truth" is that most people mistake easy for stressful/mentally draining. Killer is nonstop in action and on a time crunch. Survivor only have that while actively being chased and the rest of the time is boring gen simulator. But that's the point, survivor can opt for a break if they can avoid detection and keep being stealthy while killer don't have that option.

Most killer don't want an easy game but less being on edge the whole trial and survivor want a second objective for more action.

This is true of all killers, which is disgusting really but what can you do. It's why stealht doesn't work, because all the sweaty killers are playing at zero detail, stretched rez, uber bright, etc. I even play the game dark at high detail because I like the mood of it. BHVR been making all the maps too bright it's annoying.

    Well tbf it's not a killer-only thing.

I watched some old vids on YT and monto and friends (other dbd streamers like noob3) were playing vs each other (in I think on of those drinking or charity streams) and one of the five was using brightness and stretched res. It was so obviously different from the other 4 that it was disgusting to watch on those settings while monto for example had a normal atmosphere going.

  • Simply ignore them, they just seek attention. But their comment history makes for a hilarious read. Especially when they seriously (as far as the written word goes) say that they are not biased while also wanting infinites back and having fun using fat shame spots.

  • @Crazewtboy said:

Haven't played a lot of killer, but you will always have the salty people who are mad they get outplayed. That being said, tbagging isn't really toxic. If you are getting annoyed by someone crouching repeatedly, then perhaps there is an issue with what you perceive as toxic

Spamming emotes to the opposition in whatever way is mostly meant to annoy and provoke and by that definition an "aggressively" intended action not warranted by gameplay and therefore toxic.

And yes you can argument that it is used to lure killer into a chase but it doesn't change the felt intent. Just like survivor say that some killer tactics are toxic while also being meant to be efficient.

  • Just like the discussion about making solo and swf into different queue. The latter would have tremendously increased waiting time up to not even getting into a game.

This would also show a problem.

And don't tell me those are two different scenarios or things because, just like swf can be beaten up to a certain point, so can be spirit.

What about if pre game, the killer could choose where to place his/her totems? Tactical choices maybe.

They would've to design designated totem spots on each map (more than 5 for variety) because players could otherwise put totems in unreachable locations like the bugged once on reworked maps.

true its not but think of how much value you can get out of two ruin totems or how about you switch ruin for devour hope and think of the value there. My friend who barely plays killer and is awful at it used devour hope undying for 10 games straight won all of them the same way they found his first totem and couldn't find his second or by the time they found his second he already killed 2 and basically won at that point. If you don't believe me test it for yourself and see.

Just for clearance, your account or theirs? This would give atleast a little context of what kind of survivor he played against and how good the might've been. Given that matchmaking is still a complete mess at all ranks.

The, "x needs to do this" argument is the dumbest thing ever. If that's the case, survivors need to survive so DS should cause the killer to be stunned for 20 seconds. See how dumb that sounds? Tapping a gen isn't working on a generator. It should be changed to something like, "performing x action for x amount of seconds" should deactivate DS. This way a survivor has a bit of leeway if someone is hooked as the survivor with DS is unhooked and the killer decides to come back and tunnel so they're not screwed out of their DS by thinking they were safe for a moment.

Stopping a gen from regressing by tapping is the equivalent of the killer kicking it to start the regression.

One takes several seconds, the other a few frames (I think it's not even enough to start the repair animation). These two are supposedly equal actions and should be handled as a full action. (The devs should also make both take the same amount time in my opinion, but that's of topic.)

  • I personally must say that strider confuses me more than helps with being used to normal breathing or moaning sounds and the increased distance messes me up.

so youre telling me, because of last second switch to a key you managed to get 2/3 hits (i guess m1) and all that because of key? right?

if you got 4 rank 1/2 its matchmaker issue xd not item xd

also dont blame SWF, you just got thrown into lobby that was ready to go but their previous killer dodged

Oh yeah sry i forgot that in this forum you can't make a comment if the buzz word of the thread title is not included in your anecdote.

Edit: and for clarification, my comment focused on the "last second (key) switch" aspect of the title.

  • @Galklife said:

there is bunch of killers dodging for literally everything: 4 PC? must be SWF dodge, 4 console? must be SWF dodge, 2 medkits? dodge (its not a joke), key? dodge, loaded in full lobby with 4 ready survs? dodge

and if you think its a joke its not, every case happened to my lobbies at least 10 times

ofc there might be killers that are trying to snipe someones lobby (but at most i would count it 10% of cases)

as much as i hate and despite survivors killing themselfes on 1st hook, or DCing after getting downed thats equivalent of killer dodging lobby because they dont want to play vs X... is it more harsh and punishes randoms? yup

right now MM literally doesnt work, but back then when it somehow worked(before crossplay) (i had my profile with DBD hours public) i was dodged on avg 3-5 times before each game and those dodging killers (i guess 1st or 2nd killers were red ranks) made MM give me below rank 15 killer (it was at time when in mm rules was 8 rank diff at most and it worked that way) but because we had open lobby dodged by so many killers Matchmaker gave us random killers

PC killers are going out of their way to check survivors steam profile(or even streamsnipe if you have ttv link) to make sure they will play vs bad survs/have easy game

Yesterday I had a game of 4 last second change dwight from console. I am a rank 12 pc killer.I have my policy to never dodge or dc (except once in year 2 cause of the abuse of a fatshaming spot infinite). The trial lasted less than 5 minutes with only 2-3 hits and they TBagging, clicking and so on. So I went on a drive with Billy since I wouldn't even get my 4 chainsaw daily not too mention any hooks and they still stayed in until egc ran out.

In endscreen I saw why I should've dodged nonetheless against 4 rank 1/2 and from their simultaneous change I guess also a 4men swf. But hey 4 minute game against several minutes queue for them I guess.

  • @Zeus said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/222775/mount-ormond-reworked-map-awful

Still better than the old one. Maybe colorblind settings would make scratch marks look better but I hope it isn't considered an exploit.

Well if stretched res, minimal quality graphics and high gamma are not an exploit then I don't think an implemented feature should be.

  • The problem isn't talking to friends but the fact that voice creates several completely different possible potential level for survivors. Solo is weaker than killer which is at max weaker than full swf with 2 and 3 men somewhere in between.

In contrast to any other online game this one here is asymmetrical (and probably the only one ever to last this long). In any other online game both teams have the same size and tho opportunity to benefit the same from using voice. In dbd that's not the case survivor CAN gain a form of advantage from voice while the killer can't be compensated appropriately.

That's why many people have already asked countless times to elevate solo queue information closer to swf so killer can be adjusted accordingly.

  • Really? didn't play for a year. Maybe I mixed the thresholds for 50 and 100 sry. But hey lol has close to 150 by now. So if you average both... XD

  • Well league of legends and rainbow six siege work also on a win based ranking system. They both have 100+ champs/operators, with different lanes/item builds or weapon load-out/map every game.

That's also why killer are locked in lobby to make it depending on the chosen killer with the variable factor of build and addons which won't ever be really be calculated for.
