  • Maybe many have turned crossplay off in hopes of better queue times. There was a bigger influx of survivors than killers from consoles (more than 4:1).

And while I am typing this I had the realization that turning off crossplay wouldn't necessarily help since they would only be matched with fewer killers that also turned crossplay off. 😅

When I work hard to survive a game, successfully evade the killer many times, repair multiple gens while my team does ######### all, only for me to die to NOED while everyone else escapes, yeah, I'm gonna complain. I'm gonna complain HARD.

And rightfully so but maybe not about the killer or his perks but about the useless teammates. More often than not this frustration is vented towards the opposition instead to the ones that are the reason for it.

God I wish people would just stop with this NERF DS bull... DS is not an issue. I cant even remember the last time I was killer and thought to myself "Oh these guys only won because of DS"... If you're getting hit with that many DS that it forces you to cry on the forums about it, you're obviously doing something wrong. Stop tunneling and learn how to slug. The amount of people running DS/Unbreakable is slim.

Same could be said about survivor that call getting hit after getting unhooked in the killers face without bt "tunneling" while that is the fault of the farming teammate. A killer does not have to go out of their way to ignore the onetap and going for the healthy survivor to give them the hit speedboost.

Well if you aren’t doing anything, you aren’t being chased, therefore dont need DS at that moment

The comparison to the legion problem includes being in a chase with a killer that has their camera looking on the floor while following the survivor counting to 30 (instead of waiting for the deep wound timer). So the 30 second timer still runs without an active chase. Fyi I am also against using DS aggressive as a weapon.

I absolutely have. I had a match where the mm was garbage and we got a low rank killer trying to learn nurse. She chased me pretty much the whole map and 4 gens. After moving on from me I saw two others teabagging and being a dick and she went off to practice on her own after last gen was done and egc was going on so I ran over and motioned her to come on and had her practice her blinks with me until time ran out.

Reminds me of a game I had as the killer playing nurse to learn. The last survivor also stood there for me to practice precision blinks and helped with my daily (the reason I played nurse). Maybe it was me maybe not, anyway thanks for being nice.

Killers already use tracking perks every game; BBQ, Whispers, Nurses Calling, Undying, I'm All Ears, Bitter Murmur and how many more. Killer addons to give auras, almost forgot to mention Tinkerer that tells exactly where survivor is at when doing objective. You have doctor that wallhacks all game as well. Legion feral frenzy. Don't pretend you don't have the killer's version of OoO, activatable by just doing killer things in much more powerful ways. Most of the time surv has no knowledge their aura is shown. OoO has incredible downsides when the killer version of aura perks have virtually none.

Well you are correct that they don't have huge downsides but they all have conditions or restrictions (no idea for all the addons, but I think it's the same there, for example scratched mirror being unable to go up to tier 2 myers).

Also I think the goal of this thread wasn't the implementation of such a perk but a hit on the handling of perk nerfs by the devs depending on player side (killer/survivor).

  • @valvarez4 said:

Well, survs can have a perk as pgtw: when you’re unhooked and you touch a gen in 45secs this gen is done 25% more.. Or a perk like noed: at egc you move faster and the killer needs 3 hits to put you in dying state.

that means they should nerf pgtw and noed?

Well both have already been changed/nerfed to a certain degree so no worry they might keep going.

Once ruin comes out of fashion pop will be one of the most used perks again and they will shorten it even more. And don't forget to make the survivor version of noed also in some way avoidable like a hex.

  • @Xyvielia said:

I’d like be able to hide in lockers and Head On stun survivors into the injured/ dying state

I imagine that like the trapper hiding in the broken locker in saminations videos XD

  • @EvilBarney666 said:

Imagine if BHVR decided to throw a monkey wrench into the meta. Nerf all meta perks for both killer and survivor. We would have to rely on other builds and perks on killer and survivor.

It seems that most of the time killers and survivors run the same meta perks. It gives them the best advantage of surviving and or killing. If the devs really want to balance the game and make drastic changes that might be a way to go.

I am a dedicated killer main. I know the game is not in my favor in the red ranks alot especially with swf. I just deal with it. I love the game. I love the survivors and the killers. I always just do the best I can.

Bottom line is its a game. The basic function of a game is you win or lose. The best advice I can offer people is not to care if you win or lose. Tunneld, tbagged, looped, camped ..who cares? Yah it may suck but meh. At the end of the day it's just a game.

Win and lose with dignity and I bet you will have more fun regardless of the side you are playing. :)

Sorry but your statement is contradictory to itself. The basic function of a game should be "FUN" independent of win or lose.

But you said yourself "yah it may suck but meh". This statement alone shows that the game fails to fulfill it's basic goal more often than not.

lol! This graph shows the exact opposite of what's actually going on in the game. Perhaps they got the percentage mixed up and instead of kill rates, they show the escape rates.

    As a matter of fact:

    • Nurse is one of the strongest Killer and especially in high rank, people know how to play her and usually get 3-4 kills.
    • Higher skill makes matches harder for the Killer player, which is why in the process of ranking up, the average kills per match decreases over time due to stronger opponents.

This graph shows the exact opposite; Nurse is the worst Killer and in high rank, Killers get more kills than in low rank.

I have no idea how that can be explained other than "rigged stats".

Perhaps Nurse gets so many ragequitters that don't count for "Kills", is that why her kill rate is so low in high rank? Another meaningless, misleading graph provided by the devs that serves to purpose other than causing confusion and discussions.

Those stats don't show anything about pick rate or the rank of the players using her. The people that main and mastered her are in the digit percentage and the biggest part of the rest can't really play her resulting in a low kill percentage (red rank or not). Most don't want to play her since it takes several dozen to hundreds of hours to be truly effiz with her.

Your time complaining about people complaining would be better spent complaining to their streams about their complaining. Get them to actually think about their attitudes.

Something like this will probably only result in a fast chat restriction or ban from them. They have the power to just not deal with it.

  • Maybe they did it to also have synergy even with hex:noed, to help even getting it to spawn?

  • @CashelP14 said:

Mate I'm going to be honest it sounds like your making a joke thread trying to entice killers to complain about survivor entitlement.

If your not then this perk isn't OP. It's a decent perk that really helps set up killers like Myers and Trapper. If a gen is blocked then go look for another gen since there is 7 on the map.

Also a 45 second chase at the beginning of the game is quite bad. No pallets have been used so you shouldn't be going down that fast. The starting chase should be at least 1 and a half minutes or more.

I was waiting for another hard biased thread from him. Check his old posts, some of them are hilarious.

  • I think it simply works like hag traps where the killer gets a notification no matter what.

  • Barbecue and chili for those sweet extra bp. Some nights I go only with that.

    Mwahahaha.

That's when the devs want to use their hidden mmr instead of ranks for matchmaking. So it might be less of a mixed skill hell than people imagine. But then again, it would depend on a working MMR system.

  • Uh never make such a statement on these forums.

IF they were equivalent, then the fact that one was there for a few months and already got hit with a nerf (destroying the equilibrium, as you stated it) while the other one was there for YEARS by now and is still untouched, would lead to many more toxic arguments here and further imply a bias from the devs or whatever.

Not that I give anything on either.

Exactly, those are the questions that are relevant for new Perks. Either Objective Speedup or Time Wasting. And I highly doubt that BHVR will ever release a Perk which straight up increases Genspeed (I can imagine something like Totem Cleansing tho), so it all comes down how useful those Perks will be in a chase or helping to reduce the pressure done by the Killer.

Iron Maiden on Huntress is a good example, even buffed this Perk will most likely only be played by Huntress-players (maybe Twins and Doctor as well, but not as common). Infectious Fright is another example, it is not useful on most Killers but on those where it can be used, it is very strong.

But for Survivor-Perks, I dont really see the potential to shake up the Meta with any release, yes, some players may use Perks (a friend of mine is running Deception for example), but the requirements to replace a Meta-Perk on the Survivor-Side are really high.

A big factor in my eyes is the difficulty to balance a survivor perk depending on stackability. Is it useful solo or busted in a coordinated 4 player group. That seems to be a walk on a tightrope.

Well yano the UI steam is going to work on UI whilst the other teams work on the balance and gameplay changes we all crave.

Also let's see how the new UI feels when playing rather than hating on a static image.

Damn seems like written low-key sarcasm is still not my forte.

Fyi I don't care for most changes bhvr does since I play this game rarely and when in a casual fashion. But hey atleast I can still have an opinion.

It simply gets tiresome to either read "they are just a small company, so they can't fix everything" or "that's a different department". They have something around 600 people, if that's not enough hire more or relocate resources and funds. It just feels like they don't have their priorities straight sometimes. Don't add new features when the old are "broken"/bugged more stuff will only make it more complicated. But hey they need new shinies to get new players, instead of keeping the old, it seems.

  • But hey atleast we get a change in the HUD UI without asking for it, right?

  • Fun fact, those four little stacks work as my personal in-game goal by now since playing for the win or 3/4k gets way too stressful in higher ranks for a casual player.

  • Maybe blackout their names? It's against the ToS of the forum even without blaming or shaming.

  • @The_Krapper said:

That's actually not a nerf to NOED it's a buff because it can be taken out before it happens currently and in that form you could always use it in every game but you just couldnt down someone and straight face camp anymore waiting on the totem to go, it solves the killer not getting to use the perk at all against good survivors and it solves face camping with it in the end game by giving it a timer , seems fair

It wouldn't be either nerf or buff, but a revert to it's original or second version from release 4 years ago.

Be polite and courteous to the Killers who have to deal with your shenanigans from the onset, please.

The reason is that the killer can't change his load-out fast enough to something like franklins or sloppy butcher.

According to the League of Legends wiki skins were first removed in 2011: https://leagueoflegends.fandom.com/wiki/Legacy_Vault#Retired_skins

I don't think that it will necessarily lead to a monetary loss. See my post above, about the Plague robe skins. Anyone who bought Plague but has not bought the skin is unlikely to do so in the future. Most sales of this skin likely are from new players who buy Plague and like the skins and buy one of them. By announcing a future (temporary) removal some players may buy it who otherwise never would.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1840533#Comment_1840533

That would be the explanation in the news / blog post announcing because straight up saying it's done to boost sales for unpopular skins that are not going to make any money going forward would look bad.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1840836#Comment_1840836

Based on legacy skins and people still asking for them to come back, players disliking the event charm system because it's annoying to get an item that will never come back and also others complaining about the return of the battlepass items (such as the elephant outfit for Clown recently) suggests that exclusivity of items is something that at least some players care about. By turning unpopular skins into (temporary) exclusives at least those players will likely buy them.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1840839#Comment_1840839

I am not encouraging that. I am very much against it. I can however see the developers doing it if it means boosting sales. I am interested in whether or not there has been a clear statement from the developers about whether or not this is something they are going to do.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1840540#Comment_1840540

Thank you, but that does not mean that it won't happen. It may not be planned now but that could change very easily.

The way the battlepass items are handled is already very similar - items are available for a limited time and then any way to get them is removed for a limited period of time. Based on how the battlepass function it seems safe to say that the developers are okay with items not being available temporarily to either boost sales or to make items exclusive for some time because some players like the exclusivity. Whatever the reason for the design of the battlepass item availability is, the same would apply to removing items from the store, permanently or temporarily.

It's also not necessarily about a need, but a possible excuse for why it is being done. The main reason the developers would remove items from the store is to boost sales. Saying that the cause is a restructuring of the store would be the explanation given because outright saying that it's because of money would make a lot of people very angry.

Just about your answer to me, I already pointed out that they make event skins and such stuff partly available during events. Of course some never come back but they found out that permanently removing stuff from their shop hurts more than it helps in the long-term and bring them back to make people buy "this time limited offer" (please imagine a tv shopping moderators voice XD).

  • League of legends has over 800 skins for their 150+ champs. Yeah they make some event skins timed exclusives but bring most of them back every event.

Rainbow six sieges shop is completely a pain to find stuff in but I think, outside of twitch exclusives and seasonal stuff, that they don't remove any cosmetics.

Anything else in monetary loss for them.

  • They simply should double the number of dailies with three on side always killer and three on the other always survivor and keep the throw away option once per day.

But hey this would lessen the grind for people playing both in giving them 6 instead of 3 dailies so they won't do it without either halving the rewards or make 2/4 part of a season pass /s (Sadly this might be true to some point)

  • @Leachy_Jr said:

Bit off topic but seen as though we have had a lackluster halloween "event" and just some daily rewards and some codes for christmas, the next event better be good (pretty sure its the lunar event if I'm not mistaken).

You should be grateful IF they take their time to design and release some new lunar themed skins!!1! Any more is luxury!

Yes they don't get much bp when they camp but bbq only doubles the amount and if they camp so hard that they get less than 10k they get less than 20k all in all. And btw when they camp this hard than bbq's few seconds auraread shouldn't be a problem. Also when the slug is far enough away that they can see you and they leave you so long that unbreakable would be usable then you should have ample time to crawl away.

Damn I would love direct text chat right now this 2 arguments parallel thing is unnecessary.

Then would their BP score be low just because of their lack of time spent actually doing things, like chasing, breaking, using their abilities, etc.? Not just because of their hook proximity when they do act?

Sure, it's not on the killer to provide a "fun experience" for survivors. It's also not on survivors to die for you because you're the killer. Regardless, there are five people in every match, like, living breathing people with thoughts, and it's worth more to all of them to have a good game. And I'd say that all comes down to bloodpoints. If a killer cares more about getting a 4K than the reward they get for playing, their perspective is skewed.

This is a game. It has no pro level or actual competition. There's no real reason to screw over someone who waited ten minutes in queue to play with you by making them lie on the ground for two minutes, then killing them anyway.

Sorry to whatabout you here but I rarely see the 4 living breathing people take a step back when they notice that they stomp there opposition. In the worst case they stop progressing the game to taunt the killer which may have already given up instead of showing mercy in form of sacrificing themselves or anything.

I personally have never seen any behaviour in this regard while I made it my policy to spread up to 12 hooks evenly (therefore using bbq) and only kill when they were so bad that they didn't finish 5 gens by the time I made it to hook 8 and still would give the last survivor hatch, carrying them across the map or ignoring them to find it for them (one time I was clown on swamp and threw bottles up like firework, didn't work and I had to carry them to the hatch.)

  • @Hex_UrbanEvasion said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1840406#Comment_1840406

I assume it does. And once again, I'm just basing this on after-match conversations with killers. According to them, BBQ doubles their score as long as they hook all four survivors, so even if they face camp, they still make around 32k per match, which should be equivalent to a perfect score.

Yes it doubles the bp score but camping reduces the EMBLEM score not bp so there is no balancing effect due to the double bp.

  • @Hex_UrbanEvasion said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1840337#Comment_1840337

Except no one uses WGLF because they're too busy being unbreakable and stabbing killers in the neck. Just because BBQ has counters doesn't mean it isn't used and abused in the ways I described. The higher I've climbed as survivor, the more of this I've seen. Slugging is extremely popular in red ranks. The reason I put scare quotes around "easy hook" is because this is what killers have called it after they slugged me or another surv and went on to down someone else who happened to be nearby. The extra BP are great. The aura reading is fine on its own. The way it's used to slug without consequences is aggravating.

Also, the thing I described with killers tunneling and camping each survivor and using BBQ to make up for the points lost for that strategy? It's real. I've played against face campers who use BBQ specifically for that purpose. I asked them in endgame chat.

Ah I forgot to address that point but isn't the penalty for staying near the hook aka camping which was implemented by the devs a score reduction for emblems only and does not even affect bp?

  • Ehm okay First of all, it took survivor long enough to get the devs to add a useful meaning to we are gonna live forever, the survivor equivalent to bbq, not in terms of use but bp increase to ease the grind. What you propose would mean that the devs would have to also revert wglf back to simple bp boost or take the boost of.

And I don't think many people use bbq the way you described but to ease the bp grind like me. Even so wglf with it's new additional healing speedup would be a direct counter to your argument by halving the time to heal a slugged survivor.

  • @Freudentrauma said:

My guess is that it's harder for them to come up with interesting skins that fit him. SImilar with Plague whose unique design make it harder as well to come up with something interesting.

Well for deathslinger I would maybe propose some kind of ranger/crocodile Dundee skin from a savanna or a jungle expedition with claw marks signifying a death by tiger or lion.

Plague could get some kind of themed skin a la carnival del rio, with this fruit hat rotting on her head and covering her face. But I can't come up with a fitting weapon right of the spot. And death maybe by trampling from other people in a panic or simply rotting like the fruit and so on, fitting to her theme of sickness?

  • The problem would maybe be too strong synergies with already existing perks, like break speed addon plus brutal strength and other perks for action speed or your mentioned swing cd reduction combined with stbfl which would bring back machine gun builds which were nerfed for that reason on eg Micheal.

  • That's why I quit playing killer and with that dbd overall. It swings too much from one extreme to the other. Either I get potatoe survivor where I ask myself "did they just buy the game?" To groups where I struggle to get more than 2 stacks of bbq (the only perk I really use, against the grind and I try to go for the 12 evenly spread hooks every game, with less than 500hours in the game). Seldomly it becomes an even matchup.

So it's either boringly easy and I have to hold back very much to not ruin their fun or I struggle to have any of my own.

  • @Hex_UrbanEvasion said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1838750#Comment_1838750

For real. Every time I meet a killer who's mad about gen rushing or telling survivors that if they didn't want to give them a "free hook" they shouldn't have been so close, I want to reach through my computer screen and slap them. They are people playing a game with you. They have two objectives, do the generators and open the gate. Equating "rushing" generators with tunneling is weak and flawed. "But I'm the killer, I'm supposed to kill!" You're supposed to hook people. Incidentally, if they're hooked enough times, they die. This isn't some "by any means necessary" massacre for killers, so they should stop expecting it to be.

I admit, as a killer, I'm not great. I probably give too many chances to make games more interesting or give people opportunities to get points. I just find it distasteful to take one person out as fast as possible, ruining their chance to actually play, when I can just as easily go after someone else.

Another problem in this game is mindset vs mindset. Casual like you and me as a killer vs casual = good times. But there is a really not insignificant amount of players on both sides with a "must win" or tryhard mindset and now casual vs tryhard is annoying for everyone involved. And tryhard vs tryhard becomes more and more the norm, especially once a casual mindset gets turned into a tryhard one by toxicity from the opposition.

This game does not separate or match even mindsets or skill since they dont have normal/ranked queue separation and by now any helpful form of matchmaking when the duration of the queue widens the filter even more.

And when casual friendly player get set against also casual player but with a sever experience/skill gap it can also drive the lower side into a tryhard mindset.

    Edit: I hate autocorrect.

Damn that's a thing at a certain level. I have less than 500 hours overall in this game and less than 10 on spirit for the reason that many people think like you.

When penalties were off and I tried to play her either to test or a ritual (can't remember) I had either multiple survivor instant dc or whole swf with OoO dc after the first look around.

I freaking miss the phase attack since I don't play this game on a regular basis and don't play spirit in particular due to her reputation (nice killer only player here btw, so policy to avoid camping and tunneling). But people still instant dc against a spirit noob like me or I messed around with people by using a shroud of separation or a yellow mori.

Sounds like a pretty bad concept for a Multiplayer Onlinegame. This would be a concept if the 4 Survivors would not be actual humans playing, but 4 Bots.

Well there are 4 man coop games with a pretty nasty "ai" controlling the opposition so they have to work and wipe several times to win. The thing is in those games you know you have to fight the program instead of another human being so there is less "envy?" Maybe. (I don't know the the correct term right now)

I don't know the game but a german group called rocket beans played it and (while they are no pro gamers) never managed to beat a level since the game was hard.

It's funny how you mention that "hint of swf" thing because so many times I'm sitting in a lobby as survivor and all of us are def not grouped, but killers dodge and dodge until we get one of those awful sweaty Bubba/Freddy/Spirits who's cocky and wants to take us down a peg. And all we did was, I dunno, wear nice skins or carry a toolbox. I've actually tested the skin thing. Convinced a lobby to swap to basic survivor clothes, the killers stopped dodging. I'm not that great of a survivor, but if I dress my character up nice, I guess they assume I'm one of those death squad swfs.

Same as when I goofed around with a shroud of separation and only half of the survivor would even load in. I have less than 500 hours in this game while playing since releasd 4 years ago. I only play killer and just from logic know my way around to play up to purple but just can't stay fixed to one game for soo long, but they would still instant leave at a hint of a mori no matter the skill of the killer. (Yes I know killer got carried by those things) But also playing something like a spirit while having less than 10 hours experience on her and people with OoO would still dc against me. (Penalties were of at the time)

Both sides have those preemptive methods and styles or rather have grown used to be like that.

Yeah I know because I bought this game thinking it was a "survival horror" until I realized it was more of a cat/mouse game. (like secret neighbor)

PS: I wasn't planning on bringing the competitive/casual argument, Idk where you got that from my friend.

Na just many people add the genre with the games Playstile together, so i just was being preemptive.

  • Well that is the point of this gifts or season passes in other game. To bait the customer with the free track and as soon as you buy the premium you get in the mindset that you have to finish it to get everything for your money and boom they tied you done to play more of their game. Same for every free game.or game with an additional thing like the rift, for example rocket league, dauntless, fortnite, league of legends and other f2p games but also dbd and even rainbow six siege (which has a base game price, skins, every year a 50 bucks season pass and a rift like thing with premium track).

Fr, DBD is more of a cat & mouse game rather than an actual horror game. (Though its still classified as one)

I don't care what it is, the question was, "how I thought it would be when I first saw it".

And please don't start the argument if it is competitive or casual. It is no game with official competitions (atleast it shouldn't be thanks to so.mich potential rng, thus they often have a bundle of rules and restrictions) but from the pvp setup it is a competitive game per definition.

Edit: sry for the tone but I just had a rather heated argument somewhere else.
