  • That depends on your personal subjective definition/perception of fun.

Is killing all survivor, aka 4k, Everytime fun for you?

Then at some point the game will become less fun and more competitive once you are matched with better and more coordinated survivors.

Is the gameplay of chases and mindgames more the fun part for you?

Then maybe, maybe not. Depending on the quality of survivors you get matched with. From potatoes that you can catch in seconds, to God looper that you are unable to catch without specific killer-perk-map setups. This is where your personality dictates if you will have fun or not.

  • I love the delusion in this thread.

Before crossplay, old gen console lobby queue times were horrible. 20+ minutes for survivor since the killer to survivor ratio was worse on console at that time and the forums were filled with queue time complains.

PC was the other way around, survivor a few minutes and killer had similar or longer waiting times.

Maybe it might be different today and cutting of PC won't leave console with horrible queue times but i wouldn't bet on it. First person gameplay will always be less comfortable than 3rd person on controller.

Some killers are just really petty when it comes to survivors using perks that they don't like, so they do whatever they can to make the match miserable for the survivor using said perk(s). It doesn't matter how you use it, some killers will still get upset no matter what.

Both sides are the same in that regard. I don't tunnel, slug or camp anyone or rather go out of my way to avoid them and still get called noob killer for my perks, for example bamboozle or bbq.

I still want to run an experiment where i equip noted but use an instadown or special attack killer and avoid any use of noes and see if i get salt or not. But i am pretty sure I will still get called out for having noted, no matter how i play or if i used it.

So once again it is more of a "people on the internet covered by anonymity" thing rather than one side.

I’m playing this game since the beginning, and yes, noed is a problem. Without noed I wouldn’t play against killers with 4.600 hours less than me. And that’s because they get kills they don’t earn

Oh argumenting against the nearly nonexistent matchmaking with noed is a new take.

I must not have been around yet before that, wonder how flashlights were than?

Search YouTube DBD dev instablind and you will be in for a treat. I love that video. It's hilarious and led to flashlights being nerfed in a week or so.

in my case it was a pig, you may ask if i had a trap blabla, it was clearly nothing of those, the game had only 3 hooks, i didn't have a trap on my head, i was fully healed and the exposed status turned on as soon as she hit me, not to mention she hit me over a pallet, i just smell something wrong with that killer which i reported but just wanted to make sure if she could anyhow kill me on 3 tokens of devour

Did the killer have the perk "rancor" and were the gates already powered?

Rancor let's you kill your obsession once the gates are powered.

I never said their build was sweaty.

I made a general statement that you shouldn’t care about what killers think of your load out because the first thing people usually say is “don’t play by survivor’s rule” so that same rule applies to survivors too.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2776704#Comment_2776704

Perhaps you missed the context, but I was clarifying to another party that OP seems to be shedding some light about the new low this community has reached that they (anyone who would do this in this case the survivors who made those comments) would wish death upon someone for using a freaking perk.

Play anything you want. Who cares what the killer thinks about it?

They don’t ask you permission or your blessing when they put on their sweatiest load out.

You specifically used the word "killer" and the rest is disambiguas "they".

Maybe stick to the general "others" if you don't want to be called out for anything.

The killer is from console it seems.

The perfect solution is to admit it was a horrific mistake and remove it. The more realistic solution since these devs never admit a mistake, Is to make it slower than self care.

Don't forget they reverted the survivor animations when all survivor screamed that it ######### with their muscle memory instead of relearning it and having better animations.

  • When did you do that experiment?

If it was this week, i wouldn't be surprised if matchmaking is deactivated at the moment due to the ratio being way over 4:1, closer to 12:1 or something due to the recent chain of changes and the start of the event.

Also other necessary information would be time of day, crossplay on/off and if off the platform you play on.

  • First of all the visible grades have nothing to do with matchmaking. I thought after several months everyone would know that.

And second, bp gain in this event is bigger and easier on the survivor side judging by the comments on this forum. So a portion of the already small killer population switched to survivor and the matchmaking algorithm threw eveything overboard to reduce queue times. A mechanic that we know the devs have kept from ranked matchmaking and makes matchmaking itself obsolete.

Clown nerf, Nemesis nerf, Twins nerf, Pig slight buff, Dead Man Switch meta.

Also, boil over is a nightmare and the BP gains for the Event are super good for Survivor but pretty meh for Killer. I've gotten 90K BP as Survivor iirc

Yeah i read the patch notes 😑.

But didn't watch the stuff about the event.so yeah, the usual crap except without the crown fiasco.

Tbh tho to blame third party software on ALL your losses is really stooing to a new low in which you are only able to blame everything other than urself for your losses.

Yes you can think its annoying or you don't liek it but is it gamechanign? No, it kinda just makes the game slightly easier for those players, but an insanely good player will b good enough that they dont need it anyway.

I don't blame any of my losses on comms, i lose intentionally for the last 1,5+ years. Nice try putting words in my mouth.

My playstyle is going for 8hooks/0kills and max BP. I categorically void any camping, slugging or tunneling. I don't have a main killer, have played survivor less than 2 hours in my only 300 hours played since release and only play this game once or twice a month because it is not fun over long times.

I don't care for most of the stuff complained about here and am only here for spicy discussions since my lol forum got shut down and I can no longer laugh about toxic people embarrassingly pleading for "unfair" bans.

And yes comms can be game changing. I have seen it often enough in all of the games i mentioned that often once my team started to listen to my calls we would sweep the floor with our opponents, if they didn't have/use comms. Coordinations vs none are worlds apart.

DBD will never be balanced if there are 3 sides with solo, killer and swf.

  • Oh yeah, this post reminds me that the new boil over makes taking the "shortcut" at the basement stair, as dropping in from the side to save a few seconds, outright detrimental.

Also welcome back to 2016/7 and it's Sabo meta. The time that made 4 men slug bleedouts even popular.

  • @meatisadelicacy said:

I get games faster on PS4 with crossplay off, but I've had the same killer targeting me for days to I had to turn on crossplay. I don't know why crossplay makes it take longer for me as a solo survivor, but I wait at least five minutes, and that's if I'm lucky. Just now took almost half an hour to get a game.

80-90% (guessed, exaggerated) of the survivor console playerbase have crossplay on.

I guess the percentage of console killer isn't as high so the rest survivor to rest killer ratio for console exclusive lobbies is way closer to 4:1 than for the bulk crossplay playerbase.

  • @FixtionuL said:

What are the typical queue times for players lately? Killer matches I can queue up in like 30 seconds but solo survivor is usually 5-10 minutes.

I'm also central US playing around 6-10 pm, on Xbox with cross play on.

Is this about the same for everyone else? I want to play survivor more but would rather keep getting into games instantly.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Damn the probably first time i see one of these threads and someone included all data necessary for a comparative discussion.

I'm not sure if making the argument that playing with your friends is cheating is a wise one.

Instead of declaring it cheating, maybe we should balance the game but idk that sounds kinda crazy

That's why I said that the devs finally took our advice to make swf and solo equal with the amount of information exchange.

Of course they start sloooooow with the test of those action icons but nobody today expects behaviour to work faster than at glacial pace.

And yes it is still underlying cheating when only one side can even do it and potentially (survivor don't always use all the tools they are given and cover it under "we only play causal with friends") gain a definite advantage from it.

I don't care about discord or TeamSpeak in games like lol, overwatch rocket league, rainbow six siege and so on because both sides can use and gain an advantage from it. In DBD this is only onesidedly possible and isn't compensated in the slightest. And it is a possible advantage when you can substitute aura reading effects from roughly a dozen perks, and more.

  • @fulltonon said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2771597#Comment_2771597

Also don't forgot that the information is extremely important and meant to be limited for survivors by game design, unless they do voice comm.

I know. A year or two back someone made a list of all perks that get potentially (survivor don't always use all the tools given to them) substituted by comms and it came to 10-12(?) perks, maybe even more today.

  • It's not confirmed but declared by the devs aka they just have accepted it. This might be just semantics but it makes a difference.

The definition of using third party Software outside of the game as an advantage still stands. And especially in an asymmetrical game were only one side can profit from it.

In my eyes they just declared it as okay/legal in their game because they know that they can't do anything about it and took the easy way out.

Only oj the last qna have they finally begun to tackle the problem by starting to bring solo closer to swf.

Edit: Btw same goes for their approach to camping/tunneling/slugging aka the unfun gameplay a killer can use that they declared "tactics" because here also they couldn't do anything against it without having to fear to kill their playerbase. But this is also seemingly under review by them in recent times.

Like really, I’m reading here for a few days and all what happens in 80% of activity is exactly what I named above. This is even more sadistic and cruel as DBD itself. Yikes.

Well to be honest what do you expect from the general section of a forum?

Discussions about the option for a tutu as a cosmetic for trapper?

  • Yes, it's griefing.

    Bannable? I don't think so.

But I as the killer would tunnel and Facecamp the pointer and let the other escape (or kill both if it's one of those endlessly drawn out locker hiding games)

didn't really matter if i followed the survivor rulebook or not, they still trash talk

Well i can only talk from my experience and in the last few months (disclaimer: i only play a few days a month and exclusively killer) i only had one instance of "toxicity" and that was a "GG ez, dont cry" when i even carried the last survivor out that i downed during egc.

Otherwise mostly nothing and sometimes during BP events some wholesome chat.

i thought that if i play a killer i haven't played before the mmr has a starting point to make matches a little easier to learn their power

Like i said, they didn't do that but start every character at an average MMR and your killers can't deviate too much from each other.

  • No, i have made it a point to not kill any survivors for the last over 1,5 years. So i should sit down at the bottom of MMR.

There is nearly no toxicity when you don't tunnel, camp and slug on people on death hook.

Most of the time you get no reaction, sometimes a positive reaction and on the rarest occasion still toxicity.

And to the case of your nurse example, unplayed killer don't start at the bottom of MMR, as thought, but on an average MMR level like in online chess, were you don't start with an elo of 0 but 1500 to go from there.

Maybe i will also reinstall and go for a week of DBD and start going for kills again.

Only problem, i have nearly no perks on half my roster XD

Blight is my biggest weakness but let's see how it goes.

Do you maybe have an example sheet for stats you take? For later comparison.

Not sure if it was spell check that screwed you or if you rewrote part of the sentence, but I believe you mean "condemn," not "condone."

(I wouldn't have said anything if it didn't completely change the meaning of your definition.)

Thanks for the clarification. Nonnative speaker here and I probably just had the wrong definition in mind the whole time.

But i should've known better since I knew the word "condemn" beforehand.

Being hypocritical means condemn someone else for stuff despite doing it yourself.

I see no problem in implementing mechanics that close the gap even a little between solo and SWF.

Except we can't really trust the devs to make reasonable changes to the killerside as to not be left behind.

Many people, me included, are all for changes like this to get the survivor side on one level and then balance killer in accordance.

But the last 2 years don't give much hope for the devs to stick the landing on this large scale balancing act,in a timely fashion for both sides equally.

  • @Hannacia said:

I see so many issues in this chart... pig, ghosty and legion being over 50%. I'm just going to assume these taken from soloQ and with new players. If these would be taken with SWFs and high mmr those numbers would look whole lot more horrible.

Those are stats from ALL ACROSS THE BOARD, aka completely useless as indicator for more than general trends.

  • None, cause I don't play anymore since December and a 1,5 multipicator on BP wasn't enough reason to come back.

And I know this isn't a constructive comment but it had to be done at least once.

You say that the answer is no like it's fact when I for one will totally take a break and play other games Ive been meaning to get around to, while my MMR decays. I've been playing for almost 5 years and throwing matches or playing for hooks instead of kills, imo, is just as boring as being stuck at a higher skill cap, playing sweaty competitive matches.

And no, you're response didn't clarify the fact that nowhere have I insinuated wanting to slum it at low ranks or stomp on new players. There's no happy medium in this game anymore. The unpredictability of matches pre-SBMM was what made it fun. You could play casually because ranks were so varied. Being stuck in a bracket where the game decides who is at your skill level is absolutely garbage when the SBMM the devs implemented doesn't even base your performance on skill unlike other games that have this kind of system in place and as killer, you reach a cap far too easy and get placed with survivors who can run circles around killers in their sleep.

Okay first point, you taking a break isn't because your MMR decays but because you don't have fun and want to play something else.

The MMR decay might be useful but saying it is the sole reason for the brake is a fallacy in my eyes.

Second point, yes I didn't say you want to lower MMR to slam anybody. But saying that the old system was fun and dandy is also absolutely wrong. Yes it was more fun as killer but on the cost of low skill survivor. Survivor that never should have been in red or purple ranks to begin with. The balance/frequency between hard and easy matches was better, not the balance between killer and survivor side.

  • @Kill_Yr_Idol83 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2756300#Comment_2756300

You all see to not get the point which is bizarre. I never said I or anything else wants to slum it at low MMR and stomp on newbies. Problem with SBMM as is, is that MMR rises way too fast cause its based on kills and not hooks which is not an accurate measure of one's skills. You then as killer, get stuck at higher MMR matches that eliminates all casual play from the game. People love to say that it evens itself out eventually but after a year its proven to not be the case. It's just one sweaty competitive match after another which sucks the fun out of the game entirely.

Maybe because your original point was:

"SBMMR sucks, will this new feature incentive killer to take breaks to lower their MMR?"

And the answer is, no. If you want to lower your MMR to tolerable levels, throwing games or playing like me (8hooks/0kills) is way more efficient and fun.

No one will take week long breaks because of some arbitrary MMR decay feature.

And if they take a break because the game isn't fun for them, then they take the break to get some distance to the game and not to lower their MMR.

It's just a nice side effect (nearly every ranked pvp game already has implemented) but most definitely not the reason for the break.

  • Another typical mileena_kahn post. Nothing to see here and others already pointed out the flawed attempt at baiting.

The point is the system Bhvr uses to check when it's DC an when it's not. Happened to me to be connected on discord, streaming my game, and DbD disconnected me because l had "no internet connection" while my streaming was still on. How can discord still be working and DbD kicks me out of the game (with its appropriated ban)?

Because some systems have to be more fine-tunes than others. I can only guess how bhvr coded DBD but a "fast paced action game" like DBD, where server and client interaction needs to be at best instant, is way more prone to hiccups thanks to short internet connection blackouts than other programs like TS/DC.

penalties have no reason to exist at this point 🤣

Ah yes, a fraction of the playerbase is making that effort is an argument that all should get the free option to rage quit at any time.

Even just the given opportunity of free DC will increase the DC rate 10fold. But why not kill the game outright.

  • Uff that's rough. I havent played for the last few weeks but back then it was a few seconds with crossplay on on PC between 8pm and 4am (longest i stayed up, playing DBD).

But yeah not waiting for the 1 minute in lobby because one survivor not readying up is rare as a unicorn.

  • Just out of curiosity, 10 min queue, as killer?

At which time of the day do you play and with crossplay on or off?

Sounds like morning to midday and crossplay off. Am i correct?

  • Dh might not be THE problem but it's strength and more than anything it's ON DEMAND without any extra requirement is definitely A problem.

No other perk on both sides has this much impact with close to no effort for activation and is on demand usable.

Imagine for example bbq being on demand with the hooked survivor as center. Killer could walk away and suddenly have a 4 second Wallhack on demand of survivor potentially right next to them.
