Don't survivors technically earn adrenaline by doing all the gens? The killer on the inverse earns noed...by all the gens being done? Kinda counterproductive since the goals not to let the gens be completed (hence the arguement noed rewards failure while adrenaline rewards you completing your objective)

Let's better not go there. As already mentioned in this thread dead hard and decisive strike also are "earned" by failing. Not completely aka dying but either being found and injured or even losing at least one hook state.

Now we've fixed Stretched Res we do what most games are doing for accessibility and add in an FOV slider bam

I don't think that would necessarily help.

    Pretty much.

Bzw here is a link for the old "alien vs Predator 2" game. A playthrough of the alien Campagne.

At 52:30 is a pretty good example for the pounce and wall crawler mechanic.

Warning for all people that get motion sick easily. (This would also be a problem for the accessibility for a potential DBD killer.)

    https://youtu.be/ELJD4MQ5wn4

I posted the video there. Check the gameplay at 52:30. I don't get motion sick and even i find it confusing which surface you are traversing each moment.

But a solution to both motion sickness and having an overpowered ability could be to lower movement speed while wall crawling.

Something like normal movement would be 110/115% and spiderclimbijg would be around 90%. Don't know, would need to be tested.

But another aspect to a spider killer would be camera position and fov, as the spider would need to be lower than hag and most low walled loops.

In after school or how the discord DBD was called, this was circumvented by having a third person view iirc?

    Okay hear me out:

    Wall climbing.

I posted a similar idea in one if the ops other threads.

Using the wall crawling mechanics from the old "alien vs Predator 2" from the aliens. Coupled with something like the demo pounce.

But that could be hard to code and also broken, as it could ignore all survivor defence (pallets and loops) and have strong mobility, imagine pounce with demo from the top of some buildings across the map.

Also after watching footage from AVP 2, motion sickness would also limit the accessibility of the killer.

Wraith has been nerfed, and CoH is a thing. You make it sound like he's as strong as he was a year ago. He's nothing.

Just as if their comment (and this whole thread) was from January 2020 *wink, wink*

Well, if they MUST reveal it then should also APPLY it. Aka one shot with huntress hatchet, or demo shred, for example.

    Either both or nothing.

Anything else seems like preferable treatment for one side.

  • Thought so.

    And to answer your question:

If the game engine would be potent enough (and I know it isn't given the amount of effort every little mechanical change needs) i would expect to see an arachnid killer.

A spider whose power would be to climb walls similar to the aliens in the old "Aliens vs Predator 2" (if someone except me even played/remembers that game?) With a similar pounce attack like Demogorgon or victor.

Imagine the spider killer walking on the ceiling in an indoor map or pouncing across that map from a tree or high mainbuilding.

And while that would be cool, it would also be mechanically broken and to some point more op than nurse.

So i would not expect to see it ever without being a lackluster version.

Oh and since you and I already mentioned the alien franchise (and I totally forgot that you asked for a licensed killer 🤣), we could straight up take the alien from the aforementioned game "AVP 2".

  • Hey a new FNAF thread.

Is sadako already out? (I don't play anymore so i don't know.)

Normally FNAF comes up once discussions for new chapter start anew after a killer release.

And I am still of the mind that they should just get over with it already and make a FNAF chapter so all Franchise fans can finally shut up about FNAF after several years of asking for it.

  • It's funny that this thread is still going (also now thanks to me, the irony). Meanwhile the op of this controversy inducing post has already dropped it and not answered anyone after the first half of page 2 of the comments.

  • First of all if the game makes you feel bad , then yeah you should quit. (I quit rainbow six siege, rocket league and a few other games i played with my late best friend because it wasn't the same without him and I would constantly be reminded.)

Second we have no idea what your taste in gaming is since the only game we know you play is in a genre where all other games of it's kind died already, so recommending something is kinda pointless.

    And lastly:

When you want help but come "lashing" passive aggressively back with that kind of attitude i hope you don't REALLY expect anyone to help you.

  • @tippy2k2 said:

To my knowledge, that is exactly how it is "supposed" to work.

Basically let's say Level 0 is brand new noob killer who has never played before and Level 100 is God-mode. If you are Level 100 God-mode with every killer except for Bob the Builder, when you go to play as Bob the Builder, it doesn't have you at 100 but it also doesn't have you at 0 either. I don't know the exact numbers (and I don't believe BHVR has ever stated exactly what it means) but the assumption is that if you know how to play other killers, you still have a baseline skill of some kind with killers and therefore your lowest ranking would be like...50 instead of 0.

Whether it's fair or not (which granted, for many killers the basics are indeed the same but like...I have no idea how to play Nurse and I am almost certainly never going to learn since my "base" ranking is always going to put me up against at least decent survivors), that's how BHVR sees it.

Not exactly but really close. Let's use your comparison.

And before I begin, i am not sure if they not also implemented placement mechanics from stuff like lol or online chess where in this metaphor you would start with every killer at level 50 and get placed closer to your real skill only after playing a while.

    So let's use your construct.

We imagine you start with all killer at zero and play exclusively bob the builder. Once you hit level 20 all other killer are still at level 0 but then at level 21 the catch-up mechanic, well, catches up and suddenly all other killers are at level 1. Then at 22 all other become level 2 and so on.

Until you eventually reach level 100 by only playing bob the builder while never touching any of the other but they still got also to level 80 because there level is dragged along.

This is done because overall killer gameplay knowledge transfers from one killer to all the others, like map knowledge, looping mechanics and so on. Just like survivor gameplay is always the same with the only real difference being the map played and killer versed. Only that killer mechanics have in my eyes a way bigger impact on the individual gameplay (a reason why I think killer is way more demanding than survivor in terms of time needed to master IF you don't main one killer and play all at the same time).

less of, "they prepare if they know where they are going" and more "going there IS the preparations or 90% of it"

    @herbaljellyfish

Just an honest question. If a survivor complains about something that is OP, they are told to "git gud", but if the reverse happens, "survivors OP". So it takes no skill to play survivor, but also they should "git gud" (skill?), but a killer has every right to complain and being a survivor is just OP? So it is not at all possible for some killers to just suck at the game?

Source: This forum and dbd subreddit.

wrong. the source is you. YOU are the one perceiving it like this. or can you show me a table or something showing everytime "git gud" was used and what kind of player it was?

this is just your perception of the situation, don't treat it as truth.

IMO, this game is very good at showing skill gaps for both sides. Plenty of killers can steamroll even SWFs(E.G. Otzdarva) who I would consider an extremely skilled killer,

No. this is just wrong to say and can't be confirmed either way.

OTZ sometimes steamrolls swfs, and sometimes he can't do anything. that is the premise. but it's flawed. we can't know what is or isn't a swf 99% of the time.

therefore we can't really make a proper judgement.

even if we could tell it is a swf, we can't know if they have comms, if they play together often, or if they even know what they are doing.

this is just a moot point.

wanna make a point about actual swfs? use tournaments. not people playing randoms online.

and plenty of survivors can run a good killers brains out.

same issue. but I do find it interesting you pointed out 1 good killer player but no good survivor player... is one premise harder to believe than the other?

However, the average for both sides are nowhere near the skill ceiling of skilled players.

that is how averages work, yes.

    and quite literally all games...

I'm not here to say survivors are OP or that killers are OP. I think some killers/perks have their advantages and some survivor perks have their advantages, but I think removing skill from the killer POV is just ridiculous and completely disingenuous .

again, that is just your perception. and this one is particularly terrible. no one says killer takes no skill (ironically, no one besides survivor mains).

For the record, I think this game suffers massive balance issues from each end that can make either side frustrated. But from what I see on this forum and subreddit is that Killers are always right and immaculate in their thoughts,

then you haven't been reading the forums all that much.

but if a survivor has anything negative to say about their experience...it's "bait, lol".

and if you think this only happens to survivors, you haven't been reading the forums all that much

How about some of you killers just "git good".

how about showing actual examples of killers ignoring actual issues from the survivor side instead of a very silly ad hominum?

Maybe you just suck and are a hypocrite.

maybe you just suck, and can't see from the killer POV. did you even consider that?

    It's not confirmation bias.

    it is.

The forum and DBD subreddit are MASSIVELY killer leaning to an outrageous extent.

says you... again, just your perception. which is always biased.

The amount of "lol, bad bait" responses when a survivor has a complaint is ridiculous.

    yet you showed none...

I'm not saying the reverse NEVER happens, that would be delusional.

no, what you're saying is that it happens substantially mofr for one side than the other. but you show nothing besides your opinion to support it.

But anyone with the ability to read can easily see these forums and subreddit are riddled with killer bias to an unbelievable degree.

but you see, only a true scotsman can read

Like I said, if a survivor has a complaint, it's "git gud" but in the same breath "survivor takes no skill".

I heard the same for killer plenty of times...

I mean which one is it? Why do killers not apply this logic to themselves? It's like they all believe that they are God tier and their skill is never a question.

it's like you think killer players are a single entity. that what one says applies to all of them...

but hey, there has NEVER been survivors who think they are gods and their skill is never a question... right?

Again, I'm not making a claim one way or another about the game being balanced against one side. That's an extremely nuanced debate with many, many many factors. It just seems like on these forums or on reddit, the killer's skill is never in question. It's just weird.

again, you haven1t been reading the forums all that much.

Everyone is entitled to WANT to have the experience they desire when playing a video game. I mean, that's why we all play video games, right? To enjoy ourselves and have fun. There's just a massive bias against survivors here and it's like they're not allowed to have an opinion.

why do you keep repeating that you don't read the forums a lot?

Like here's another example I constantly see on these forums if a survivor mentions camping/tunneling: "The killer can play how they want and they are not responsible for how much fun you have" but in the same breath talk about how DS/BT/UB make them miserable. So only killers are aloud to have any sort of complaints whatsoever?

What about saying "the killer can play how they want" means the survivors can't complain whatsoever?

at worst this would mean they can't complain about camping/tunneling but that isn't even what's happening.

what usually happens is survivors saying the game shouldn't allow killers to do such things, which is usually what brings the "they are not responsible for how much fun you have" argument. which is correct.

the survivor voiced his complaint, he got answers. same happens to killers.

The game is just so ridiculously killer sided that the mere mention of a complaint from a survivor is "bait" and "entitled".

what happened to "I'm not making a claim one way or another about the game being balanced against one side"?

These are just my observations after being on these forums for a while.

glad you recognize that it's just your perception of things. which will forever be a biased thing.

Again, I'm not mentioning that I personally think survivors or killers are OP.

but you did say the game is killer sided...

I just find it aweful that people get berated for expressing their frustration as a survivor as if it's one of the 7 deadly sins.

yes, that is bad. but not a survivor only thing.

It's baffling that out of 10's of thousands of players, it's impossible for you to think that people can have drastically different experiences.

It's baffling that out of thousands of users, it's impossible for you to think that people can have drastically different experiences in this forum.

What you just said is EXACTLY what my post is addressing. You have it in your mind that you're so unbelievably skilled that it couldn't possibly be anything you're doing, it HAS to be that the game is survivor sided. Never mind the statistics or other people's experiences. None of that matters...no no no no...Your word is law and streamers that get 100+ win streaks(4ks or 3+hatch) are just wrong and obviously pay survivors to throw the game so they can consistently get these wins. Couldn't possibly have ANYTHING to do with their skill, right?

what a big amount of nothing... at least make some sort of point.

you are just insulting someone's intelligence here. or trying to...

replace game experience with forum experience and it would suit you. stop thinking so highly of yourself, like you know all the answers and if people have a different conclusion they obviously didn't consider what you did. because you are so amazing.

    grow up!

Surely your comment is being sarcastic. You can't be so dense to completely miss the meaning of my post. It's incredibly ironic how many people are just not reading my post or are just blocking everything out then going on to prove exactly what I said, and get 20+ upvotes for doing so lol.

Meanwhile anyone going against the status quo for killers get no upvotes. Un-freaking-believable how so many of you are missing this.

It's baffling that out of thousands of users, it's impossible for you to think that people can have drastically different experiences in this forum.

I don't disagree with any of this. And I think this is a conversation for another thread. My main reason for this post was just to point out how unbelievably killer biased and completely illogical and contradictory statements are constantly spewed on these forums. I have nearly 3k hours in this game and have played for years. I have plenty of complaints for both sides, but the mere mention of something from a survivor about a negative experience is met with extreme hostility, condescension and completely irrational beliefs that people couldn't possibly have different opinions/experiences. Hell, I can say with utter certainty that my experience drastically changes from night to night.

it's amazing how much of what you say can be countered by either "It's baffling that out of thousands of users, it's impossible for you to think that people can have drastically different experiences in this forum." or "It's baffling that out of 10's of thousands of players, it's impossible for you to think that people can have drastically different experiences."

    you need a mirror.

In an asymmetric game, how is a near 50% win rate not ideal?

many reasons. specially when you consider what the game considers a win.

but counter question, can you even demonstrate that a 50% win rate is ideal on an asymmetric game?

See, why is it believed that killers should win/get 4k-3ks much more often than the survivor escapes.

and this is either a strawman or a missrepresentation of the most common killer argument.

either way, you're arguing against yourself there...

That's already a massive flag for bias about killers.

the strawman/misrepresentation? it's a red flag against arguing with you.

Also, the same can be said about context of killers. I can't tell you how many killers I've made DC just because I won't let them down me or get frustrated with being constantly juked.

    seen it happen aswell.

doesn't help your case in any way, shape or form.

I've also experienced several "boosting" killers who are doing a daily with a killer they don't want to play and throw the game and everyone escapes without even being hooked. Do these situations also not skew the stats,

yes. it does. which is why the stats are bad and shouldn't be used to make any point whatsoever.

or again, anything that veers away from the killer status quo on these forums just don't matter? Funny how you gave an example that would inflate killer stats, but completely skip over the fact that the opposite happens.

talking about X is different from ignoring the existance of Y.

don't even try, there isn't a point to be made here. they showed one reason why the stats are flawed, you showed another.

Don't get me wrong buddy. I even said in my op that this game suffers from massive balance issues, but that's not what I was getting out. I think every single person is entitled to their opinion based on their own experiences. I'm not at all saying killers cannot have complaints, but here on these forums survivors cannot.

"I think maybe The Artist base speed should be 110% instead of 115%"

    Response:

    "Lol, bad bait 2/10" - 20 upvotes

"This is a joke, right" - 37 upvotes

    etc...

ahem... "It's baffling that out of thousands of users, it's impossible for you to think that people can have drastically different experiences in this forum."

Doesn't matter if it's 4 survivors, it's only one game's statistics. Whether you get a snowball 4k because of a DC or due to overly altruistic plays, Or the killer DCs or boosts the lobby resulting in a 4 man escape, they affect the statistics the same because it's for one match. And I certainly don't mean to be rude, but "in your own experience" is another example of bias as if other people can't possibly have different experiences. You're fixing your own personal experience on the larger image to confirm your bias on what you think without only anecdotal evidence and nothing with actual substance. Again, sorry if that sounds rude, but I thought I should point it out since this is what my whole post is about.

2 in a row "It's baffling that out of thousands of users, it's impossible for you to think that people can have drastically different experiences in this forum."

The threads do not reflect what you're saying in the slightest.

    says you.

I mean, I don't have anything else to say other than go look through the threads, and if you still disagree...well...um...you can lead a horse to water, right?

almost 3 in a row... "It's baffling that out of thousands of users, it's impossible for you to think that people can have drastically different experiences in this forum."

I'm sure it's completely impossible for either killers or survivors to claim they play one or the other or both in order to push their agenda by appearing to have a "nuanced" view by pretending to be the opposite side while saying something to benefit the other side.

I'm sure it's completely impossible for someone to claim they participate a lot in the forums in order to push their agenda by appearing to have a "nuanced" view by pretending they have the full picture.

    again... get a mirror.

It only works for steam, but people could easily post their stats if they wanted to prove they play both sides. For example, here's mine:

    https://dbd-stats.net/profile/76561198024224074

Clearly very survivor heavy(90% solo q) but also hundreds of hours as killer

ignoring the fact this could be literally anyone... what do you think that shows?

is it really that hard to imagine most people would play both roles of a game they own? even if they play one more than the other?

it's like someone owning mario party but only ever playing on 1 board. they are the exception, not the rule.

Damn that hurt to read. Don't roast them too hard XD

Respect for the thoroughness and dedication

I actually just reinstalled the game because one of my friends got back into the game, and then he invited me to a whole DBD discord group. So I'll stick around till my friend stops playing again, or they fix Killer, or they fix solo survivor.

    Good for you, i guess?

I deinstalled the game on Tuesday after two months of maybe coming on for only checking the weekly free teachable perks (i can't even remember the name anymore).

Until then i now and then felt a little spark when reading on this forum but even that is gone now.

  • Since when do you play?

Ranked based MMR wasnt much baletter than this for the last 2 years. The majority of survivor all ended in red ranks and matchmaking became a coin toss.

Of course the chance to be paired with high skill survivor were higher but from a balance standpoint we are in a similar mess as back then.

It's not players getting "fed up" unfortunately. It's just better (and more hyped) games coming out, namely Elden Ring. They'll be back eventually, most likely.

I am in the same boat. But I am saving the BP codes and rank reset rewards, so I have been getting nothing, myself. I guess if I wasn't as serious about p3 Sadako day 1, I could.

I never understood this first day "p3" attitude. Why not just level a new character and get them perks without having to do it as many times as possible as fast as possible. If you don't have everything else already.

Hell i haven't prestiged any character for those boring cosmetics and probably never will.

  • @ThiccBudhha said:

The bonus BP is literally worthless right before a new killer releases. The cap is only 1 million, what the heck do I need more for? That is the reason they do these before new releases.

Not nearly everyone has all characters P3/all perks and therefore a dire need for more BP.

Huh? I literally level my character in the lobby. I am not about to do that BEFORE a long queue, I want in queue a$ap. No idea what you are talking about unless I hella misread this.

If you have short queues as totemsseker arguments to have, i would say level before.

If you have long queue times, see my comment before that. "Why level during the one minute when you have 10-20 before that to level?"

Edit: for example when i played killer during prime time i had less than 30 seconds to even pick add-ons. So i invest my BP beforehand, even when i level the killer i am going to play.

If it's allowed then why not take advantage of it? Sorry, I don't want to play Yui, but lobbying is the only time I remember to level her up

Yeah but since i as the killer want to play casually, i see a last second change as tryhard mentality.

Well, given that i unlike most don't treat that back with tryhard sweaty mentality but indifference. The survivor shows signs of taunting or tryhardness? Well then have fun playing with yourself as i won't give any attention to you. I was here to enjoy my playtime and not stress myself against tryhards in an still not fully balanced asymmetric game.

  • There was a slight increase at the last weekend when the trend for the last 30 days showed green numbers but got back into the red after one or tow days.

But it's still interesting to see that the game is back to beginning of 2021 in terms of player count on steam. Truly not a desirable trend for long-term survival of the game but we will have to continue observing and see.

Sorry i actually have decent queue times during the time of the day i played, didn't know that was a crime, jeez

It's not but that argument "I level my character up during lobby time" never convinced me.

That's something most people should do BEFORE they even queue up. Killer can't even do it anymore due to being locked into character.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/312430/tunneling-should-be-promptly-addressed

I think the biggest thing to note between survivor perks like DS and BT and killer perks like NOED is that no matter what happens in the game, the killer gets to play the whole match, win or lose. I think this causes the biggest break between survivor mains and killer mains. Survivor mains hate when killers complain because again, no matter what happens, they get to play the full match every game. This is not at all true in the slightest for survivors. I think it's a bit disingenuous for killer mains to completely discount this fact. I believe this is likely why the devs made those perks for survivors in the first place, to extend that survivors play time. I mean, it's frustrating for someone to wait 10 minutes to join a game and get face camped or tunnelled in the first 2 minutes of the match and have to wait another 10 minutes again. I think this is why a lot of complaints come from survivors about getting camped and tunnelled. You may only have an hour or two to play and have the most miserable un-interactive experience that it's absolutely infuriating to the survivor on that crap end. Killers want to win and have a 4k....that's fine...but because of that playstyle, they are actively making someone else miserable. Sure, you can argue that "it's just a game", but it's not really a game if you have to wait 10 minutes to only get to play for 2 minutes. I don't see how people completely skip over that experience for the survivor. Especially when in solo q. I'm not saying this obligates the killer to play a certain way, but rather it's an extreme design flaw in the game that can easily infuriate someone trying to have fun on the survivor side of things. I'm not saying the killer can't get frustrated, they are completely entitled to, but it's a bit ridiculous to call a survivor "entitled" or hate perks that merely extend that survivors play time for the match.

The problematic premise for the killer side is that it is 100% action and with that stress and hectic (depending on the amount you care for the win/you can suppress the human instinct).

Survivor have control over the pace of the game until the killer manages to exert the needed amount of pressure to gain control over the pace.

And now imagine the killer has to limit that amount by shackling themselves to subpart efficiency by juggling all 4 survivor, hooking survivor 1, then 2, then 3, 4, again 1,2... and so until all are on death hook and is only then allowed to kill.

Assuming a working matchmaking system setting both sides of comparable skill, the amount of pressure a killer has to exert to achieve pace control without reducing the number of survivors is insane and nearly impossible. (Again i am not talking about otz level killer vs pub survivor)

To emphasize this, only survivor have the option to go from playing with random s to playing with friends, reducing stress and frustration further but killer can't.

So at a certain point playing killer becomes nothing but a chore when expected to also keep the entertainment of the opposing side in mind, without throwing the game.

I myself did exactly that. I didn't see the need for to stress myself with trying to win when i also wanted to give survivor the best experience. So i played normal until survivor 1-4 had been double hooked and eased of to let them go. But playing like that and still getting often treated like dirt and taunted isn't worth it. So i am one of the player that stopped playing last year and will probably never come back since einhave many other games to have fun.

  • Oh please. The phrase "git gud" alone is nothing more than an empty jab at a person when the one giving it has nothing productive to say.

Also it gets thrown both ways and not exclusively to survivors.

And to your underlying statement that survivor posts get treated worse than killer. Imagine which side has the option to play in a group and banter about their problems to each other and which is alone and comes only to public places for expressing their gripes?

And yes more than often enough some of the suggestions made from "survivor mains" are exaggerated. Just like a post i just read comparing Hex: Pentimento to boons and assuming that the rekindled totem also would contain the original hex effect. Assumptions/statements like these let many survivor posts seem ridiculous.

But also many killer proposals get seen as nothing but "bait" if they show the same amount of being over the top.

And again to the point of why some of these public discussion places seems skewered more towards one side, that's the one that can't talk with friends about their experience in detail and real time (right after something happened) like the other. And from my experience during peak hours (between 8 pm and 1am), survivor play less than 50% solo and have someone to vent their frustration together.

So I decided to give impossible skill check doc a shot cause I've not seen it in a while and I was curious to see if it was still affective and against team like this sure but, high mmr probably not. This survivor though calls me a baby killer which you know sure if it makes you feel good sure do I support it no however, when a killer gets 3 people and plays as fair as they can are they really a baby killer for that.

It's like saying oh baby Nurse cause they missed like 2 blinks or baby Trapper he doesn't know where to place his traps and than all of a sudden they just destroy the team with good blinks or Traps you didn't expect to be placed are they still consider a baby Nurse or Trapper? I don't think so I would think they're getting the hang of these killers and understanding there powers.

Still doesn't negate the fact that in most situations, survivors (especially solo) often get paired with idiots that they are forced to carry. Just because you killer mains THINK survivor is easy doesn't mean its actually easy.

Same back to you saying killer isn't the most stressful and exhausting of the three. Just from a physiological point of view that's the case. Nonstop action and needed attention and focus are way more draining than survivor with 25% of the action.

Couple that with a non existing matchmaking thanks to long queue at peak times because killer aren't outnumbered 1:4 as desired but more akin to 1:10.

Have a build ready for when you start seeing it especially if all 4 survivors pop into your lobby. When ive ran into these teams ive found that Agitation Bloodecho Starstruck and Sloppy Butcher really makes these teams stop playing like that as you want them exposed and bleeding to chain downs together quickly. This build unfortunately doesnt help with any gens but giving survivors exposed status is key even some killers have addons that apply this as well. It just takes practice as well as looking at a wall so your pickup animation doesnt get locked for a flashlight save if your not running lightborn. Just remember exposed is the key as they get get one shot down even when uninjured and good luck I hope I gave you a few new tips.

All 4 popping in is no longer a reliable indicator for anything. They changed how lobbies behave once a killer dodges or when they wait for a long time.

I know since i check profiles (because one numbnut always does not ready up and I get bored during the minute waiting time) and not even half of the lobbies that plop in all at once are full swf.

They did a health chapter (last mid chapter) and everyone lost their minds about "THERES NOT ENOUGH NEW CONTENT!!!"

Iirc that wasn't about not enough content but the amount of changes done.

Aka when a normal chapter has "new content + a few changes" then a health chapter should be "no new content but lots of (fundamental) changes".

And the "health chapter" didn't amount to as much given that it was a mid chapter patch and not a main chapter one.

(Also the patch frequency of major patches only every 3 months and only small changes six weeks in between, i think frustration is viable when those few instances of changes are lacking)

"Camping" and "tunneling" are just words, you could also call them "hugging" or "filtering" or whatever and hope everyone adapts those words, they describe a specific tactic and scenarios. It's not just survivors who call those things like that, people like Otz who has a healthy view on the game (but plays a lot more killer) also calls it like that.

What you mean is people judging the killer unfairly because he does it. I could also say, if i want to frame the whole thing from a "survivor main POV", that "patroulling an advantageous area" is a whitewashed paraphrase for simply just camping. If you're proxy camping and come immediately back to hook to go after the just unhooked survivor, this is by most people's definition strictly TUNNELING. It is what it is. No one can stop you doing it, but it IS tunneling. Yes you are entitled to camping and tunneling, but this doesn't change the fact that it exists.

No dude, this is absolutely NOT ironic. Have you ever played survivor and got actually hard-tunneled? There is no chase in most cases. 12 seconds BT are gone fast (if you even got it) and if you don't bring those ominous second chance perks like DS you're just dead. There is no game, there is no fun. Of course it depends on the killer and other variables like the map and where you got hooked, but you get the idea, a good killer who knows what he's doing will just end you fast in those situations, trust me i scrimmed against comp killers a lot lately. I played mostly killer the last 3 weeks but i can understand everyone who says this isn't fun to play against and this isn't why they're playing this game. Survivors usually like to win, as killers do. It's the same when killer mains say something like "i play for the chases, it's the fun part" but then 75% of killers i saw lately camp and tunnel ("playing efficient") because it is the easiest way to win. Like i already said, i don't blame them and i do it myself, but the game would be in a much healthier spot if this wouldn't exist and killers could still win with actual skillful plays instead of resorting to these boring playstyles because chasing everyone will give you 8 hooks but 0 kills.

Like i already said, i don't blame them and i do it myself, but the game would be in a much healthier spot if this wouldn't exist and killers could still win with actual skillful plays instead of resorting to these boring playstyles because chasing everyone will give you 8 hooks but 0 kills.

Well, the game is supposed to be balanced around 2k/2e, in your scenario 10hooks and 2 kills.

That is already not doable consistently without having to play this game for hundreds of hours on a single killer.

And just judging from the efficiency of the devs in the past to change and balance things on both sides simultaneously, if they were to deny/delete/whatever the killers options to play with most efficiency aka camping/tunneling one survivor out asap, it would take them months to years to give killer something in return so that they at least have a chance. And most worrying, it would probably both come in form of more bandaid perks, the only solution the devs know without making stuff completely useless, see Mori's/keys.

Lobby times, platform, server, time you play and how long have you played DBD?

These are alot of things can could affect the outcome, I'm sure alot of people would like to know.

    Thank you!!! 😍

Finally someone else that understands that queue time or crossplay discussions are worthless without those exact informations (+ region).

  • Or do it like me.

After a long Saturday evening of playing killer and encountering such a group back in 2021. They also tried to deny me at every corner. I don't remember if they were great looper or not but i was just mentally exhausted after several hours playing DBD killer.

After 3 blocked hook attempts i just thought, "Okay you want to have fun by denying me at every angle. Then have fun playing without a killer." And simply went into a corner (after standing on a nearby hill and they could still blind me or get points otherwise), tabbed out (so vault spamming or other audio cues stopped being annoying) and fetched me a new drink and went to the bathroom.

Strangely enough i can't remember if they were salty or toxic in chat afterwards.

I dont even know why they haven't tbh. I shouldn't have 7 games back to back with this...

Just makes me not want to play if I cant actually play a game

Probably, and I am just assuming here, that the amount of DC between killer and survivor is statistically so slanted to one side that they know that queue times there would be so horrible that they become even more detrimental to the player retention for those that end up there.

  • Yeah they should still implement a separate queue just for people that frequently DC like other games.

  • It's an argument of efficiency, independent of taunting.

When survivor tbag instead of just running away, then they make less distance.

Stop exaggerating. People have been saying what you are saying for years and its never true, just personal opinions due to that person not enjoy a certain aspect of the game. Dead By daylight is available through Steam, Epic Games Store, Playstation, Switch, Xbox, Mobile......this is one of the most popular games worldwide, yes worldwide.

Just because you aren't enjoying it right now doesn't mean there isn't someone downloading it as you speak. Stop with the doomsday posts, they do nothing but make you look like a disgruntled player.

Well the tendency on PC (the only visible stats we have) is going down rapidly. 25% loss of regular player count since October (even 40% when compared to the anniversary peak in July) seems kinda serious, independent of the reasons. And the trend doesn't seem to change. Maybe we will see an increase with the ringu chapter but the artist only brought a temporary hold and no positive trend change.

Tho, he has a point regarding the running animation being used in sorta unrealistic ways. I would enjoy seeing Survivors have momentum to their animations.

They did a year or so ago but survivor didn't want to relearn muscle memory and the devs rerolled the update and back to the butter sliding animations.

Killer is in the worst spot it's ever been in? Definitely not.

I'm not saying killer is enjoyable at the moment, but a lot of people seem to be forgetting launch when infinites still existed, sabotaged hooks never regenerated, gen regression didn't exist, BNPs could instantly repair gens etc.

Except killer back then were also more lethal with Mori's too or omega blink nurse, insta billy and other untuned stuff.

That led to more of a immersed playstyles that slowed down games to some extend and neither side new the really efficient playstyles.

  • Someone has to learn the difference between cheating (in a videogame sense) and exploiting.

Cheating - Using mechanics/software outside the game to gain an unfair afvantage

Exploiting - abusing bugs or game design (in-game) flaws to gain an unfair advantage.

Surprised anyone actually does dailies tbh.

They and rift challenges are the main reason to play this game after a long time. The rest is just repeating the same over and over and gets stale relatively fast.

And unlike in league or rainbow (for me), i as the killer don't have friends that incite me to play this game.

Yeah, but I need the challenges done by March 8th for Sadako p3 day 1, and Elden Ring launches tomorrow, so you know, stress is inevitable. These survivor ones kill me. The Hillbilly one was such an ez clap and now I need freaking 240 seconds of co op time and 12 generators. Do you know how many games that will take, fam? The 4 red glyphs, even if I Wraith to find it and afk to move on as fast as possible that is another 4 games on top of the 4 games I needed to do the same strategy to chase 16 different survivors.

It all adds up... It feels never ending.

Ehm unrelated to the topic (and maybe some sarcasm here flies over my head) but why is there any necessity for a new killer to be P3 on day1?

Is there some hidden achievement or just idiocity?

  • Well i personally also don't like to cut someones fun short by killing them early.

I see myself more like a BP grinding crash test dummy for survivor. I give them the excitement of a "real"/normal trial, until they are all on death hook and then it depends on how far they have gotten and how they behaved during the trial.

    - More than 1gen left? => slowly kill them one after another

    - BM? => your are dead (if i can catch you)

    - gates powered? => I take the gate opening points for myself (if i haven't maxed deviousness already) and out with you

    - DC? => Same but you get to escape either way. Maybe some BP farming too if wanted.

Survivors do it out of altruism. Killers don't really have anyone to be altruistic for now do they?

Securing a kill and trying to save a teammate from death are very different examples. I wasn't trying to secure a save for myself, but instead for the Meg. If the killer wants to coat it as "greeding a save" then that person is in fact, very twisted indeed.

I was just playing the "whataboutism card".

I don't really care for either but it is the goal of the killer to kill so i don't think they are greedy at any point even with the 3rd man slug to find the fourth and neither are the (up to 3) healthy survivor trying to prevent the kill.
