The devs should stop coddling new players and should instead focus on keeping their old ones
They should just do it like other games and establish a new player friendly zone like until the reach devotion X or something like for example rainbow six siege doesn't let them play with non new players until account level 50 or like lol doesn't let you play ranked until account level 30. Then they can balance that level zone according to low skill and the rest from the top down.
But they also have to get a working matchmaking system then or anything else will just be for naught.

Will those skins make twins more fun to play as and/or against?
Press X for doubt.

For the purposes of matchmaking, we have a “cap” for skill ratings. Although your rating can continue to climb beyond this cap, you’ll be treated as if you’re at the cap for the purposes of matchmaking. This is in place to prevent the best players out there from climbing to a point where there’s simply nobody to match with.
By lowering this cap, we’re able to expand the pool of players in high skill matches, leading to more variety in the opponents you face. One match may be very close and competitive, but the next may be a little more laid back. This will also ensure that queue times don’t grow longer at higher skill levels.
Yeah i just read it myself and saw your quoting notification pop up.
From the looks of it (if they can manage what they theorize here) it might not be as bad and only the top half or less of the "mid-skill-section" might be in for a worse time as sacrifice for the top players "amusement".
But that remains to be seen and from i saw the last time i played, matchmaling didn't even do what they promised and for example o myself with 300 hours since release and intentionally throwing games after 8 hooks for over a year still sometimes got matched with several thousand hour players or even their swfs.
But even than the fact remains that they, similar to old ranked based mm, are planning to sacrifice mid level skilled players for the high skilled players fun which means that survivor that get boosted by swf and comms get easier killer to bully and streamer get survivor fodder for their win streaks. At least the low skill and new players might be saved.

I checked, and the result is dissapointing. They're reducing the cap, so good players will verse worse players way more often. Very nice, exactly what the community didn't want
So wait, what are they doing? Creating the old problem of too many unskilled people reaching red ranks just by putting in enough playtime? FOR REAL??
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA, you are joking, right? Please tell me you are joking.
That sounds like the dumbest move they could ever do, return to the old mess. 🤣
I freaking can't....

And “bringing solo Que players up to the standards of SWF’s” is supposed to make the game more balanced?? Pfft yea right. Solo’s equip flashlights just because they see others bringing in flashlights- imagine when they can see their teammates sabo build in pre-game lobby, and all they have to do is select their sabo load out. Smh.
Well that's the goal it seems. And then you can wait a year or two for killer to get "balanced" according to the new power distribution.
This would be my biggest fear if i would still play, survivor finally getting standardized to some degree at swf level and then kicks the glacial pace of behaviour in and killer end up with the shirt end of the stick for a long, long time with the promise "we see the issue and are looking into it".

honestly don't feel its neccessary to remove grades from post match. It only shows you how much others have played the game this month, a lot like steam profiles. Next step is to make people unable to look up your steam profile and see your 12000 hours in DBD?
Neither are truly necessary and only lead to false accusations.
(To be honest i liked checking the survivor profiles for swf, even when i don't really care, as it gave me something to do while waiting for the minute in the lobby since always one of them didn't ready up, last second switch or not)

2 kill and 2 escape is balanced, however lately killer mains demanding 75% kill rate at very least, most killer way above 50% right now. But of course this isnt enough, they need to win all the time
Uh where are those statistics?
The last that i can remember had pinhead at the top with 55%?
Is that way over? An average of 1 in 20 games more than 2 kills?

Every killer is able to get 2k/2e because of SBMM, meaning that every killer is viable according to the developers standards. Nurse is able to break the 2k/2e rule that the developers have decided is how players are balanced.
Ahaha SBMMR? You mean the thing that doesn't work during peak day times to reduce queue time length?

I get instant queues all morning long. It has long been observed that the time of day matters a lot for queue time. So this might not be the best gage of relative game balance.
Maybe but the prime time aka when the most people play is still 8pm-1am.

Aren't you arguing logically then that those perks aren't overpowered? If it didn't change the outcome whether you used it or not then their power level relative to the perks you did use was the same.
Nice Interpretation, but what they said is that good player can win without those perks and overperform with them or bad player get carried by them.

@cburton311 said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2911323#Comment_2911323
Exactly the point. If survivor perks are nerfed further, it doesn't change the fact that the killers can still easily 3k or 4k for most of the spectrum of MMR by playing "dirty". The face camping someone to death as a strategy needs to die. It is fun for no one in a match, it is just highly effective and so gets overused. Tunnelling someone out 30 seconds into a match is also poor form, even if it was a survivor missplay and the victim was farmed. Do you think the guy that got deleted had fun?
These streaks people sight as important data only exist at the extremes of killer or survivor skill, and I'd wager represent less than 0.01% of the playerbase. That small percentage of people do not keep the lights on at behavior. Removing tools for either side for fun engaging chases, is NOT an answer.
Finally, dead hard is not a problem, I'm a midling killer at best( i play doctor and billy fyi) and you know what I do, I wait an extra 2 seconds in chase to bait out the dead hard and then down them. This is not rocket science and really, if a survivor BEATS me with a dead hard play, good for them. They used skill and did something cool. Because just pressing 'e' does not equal win. Maybe, the only nerf I could see be applied would be preventing its use to jump over a trap. Maybe.
And what most people complain about is not the dead hard to doge, which can be baited out or waited for but the dead hard for distance aka they use it before you even have tike to wait or are in range to do anything.
With that they gain 3 meters which amounts to 5 seconds catch-up time which means another 20 meter traveled before you are back at square one and in that tike they can vault a window or drop a pallet and there i nothing the killer can do without playing on of the few specific characters.

There are way less casual killer than casual survivor, and from business perspective it only makes sense to favor the bigger consumer base, add to the fact survivor mains way more likely to spend on the game.
And as you say survivors outnumbering killer 1:10. So is it makes any sense to lose so huge amount of consumers and playerbase?
For what? So that killers can have effortless 4K all the time.
Before evening too much killer and you need to wait up to 10+ min to get a game.
As said dbd is life are survivors, should be respected more, instead caving to killer main demands who want 4k all the time perklese
There are way less casual killer than casual survivor
And how do you know that? And please don't tell me "from the way they play" because that's hard subjective and I could say the same about the survivor i face half the time.
from business perspective it only makes sense to favor the bigger consumer base, add to the fact survivor mains way more likely to spend on the game.
And as you say survivors outnumbering killer 1:10
And the each trial needs a 1:4 ratio for short queue times and according to your argumentation it's better to let that ratio become something like 1:20 is better than getting it closer to the 1:4 which is against any logic.
Less killer -> longer queue times for survivor -> the survivor get more frustrated since they have to wait longer for each trial and even moreso if those trials also don't go the way they like
For what? So that killers can have effortless 4K all the time.
Sorry but a 4k is and was never "effortless" except in a Mismatch against potatoes or as a really good nurse coupled with the old, old instant ebony Mori. Everything else still need minimum 4 successful chases plus mistakes from survivors.
Before evening too much killer and you need to wait up to 10+ min to get a game.
Do you know why killer queue times are long during the day?
Player, that play killer AND survivor, play killer more during the day since they don't have to deal with swf as much then and maybe can't play with their friends which might be at work/school and go back playing survivor/swf in the evening.
As said dbd is life are survivors, should be respected more
For every trial you need 4 survivor and one killer, without the latter there is no game and I don't see a shortage of the former.
Also respect? Where the hell is the respect from survivor for killer, especially the ones that play fair or even friendly?
I tell you, as someone that has played fair and even FOR the survivor for the last 2 years, there mostly isn't. Not even in a fourth of my games did i see any respect but instead the usual cliche behaviour (GG ez) or in the "best" case indifference. Not even a GG if they didn't win.

Well I agree that 4 SWF on comms are broken, but you can't balance around that.
Yes I mostly play as solo, with a good SWF group I had same results.
The main thing balancing around 4 SWF is going to destroy the game, most would quit
And since it isn't balanced around them (3/4 people swf), casual killer are already quitting en masse and I don't see you advocating for them?
Also,
- lose a few thousand casual survivor: Oh queue times during prime time got way better
- lose a few thousand casual killer: Damn queue times went from a few minute to an hour during prime time.

No issue for killers either, it's just player skill issue.
See streamers doing 4K games 50 in row, if anything killers overpowered, its just easier to blame the game than learn to play. After the nerfs probably we will see 500+ games won in a row as killer with 3-4K
Ah yes make a post about the poor casual survivor player but use some streamer with thousands of hours as an argument why killer have no problem. 😩🤦
Either argument for high skill killer AND survivor or for casuals on BOTH SIDES but stop these stupid cherry picking arguments.
And for your exact example maybe use something like oracle for your survivor standard if some streamer is it for killers.

I'm almost inclined to agree with them but not for the same reasons they have , with the DMS scourge meta the devs will never be able to properly nerf the gen speeds because these perks exist, you're going to see more and more gen rushing because of this, but I do believe if they ever get nerfed, gens should be nerfed right along side of them so it balances out
Hahahaha 🤣 imagine the devs nerfing something alongside a (killer) nerf. Especially gens speeds.
Sorry but before that really happens hell might freeze over.
-
They can make all the changes they want to solo survivor to bring them closer to swf but if they once again show their incredible glacial pace to balance killer accordingly then i can assume that this would at least extremely worsen the situation for all survivor or even straight up kill the game when killer then have to face 100% survivor being able to coordinate and have to wait for a year or more to get compensated.

I don't agree with the thought that all killers should be buffed to be as strong as nurse or blight. That'd be ridiculous since one of them literally defies game logic with her power. I do however think that the weaker killers should be buffed to where they're closer to B tier, around the demo and doctor range. And the high tier killers should be nerfed until they're brought within that range. Right now the gap between the highest and the lowest is too big. Is every killer able to win and 4k right now? Sure, in the right circumstances. But the goal should be to bridge the gap as much as possible, and then balance around that. Especially since MMR exist now, you want as small of a gap as possible.
Look at other multiplayer games. Even at league. The difference between the meta and non meta is between 2-4% at almost all times. So while this non meta champ may have a 50% Winrate at all ranks, which is still great and easily useable, this other one has a 52% Winrate. It's that small advantage. So yes you'll always have certain killers be naturally stronger than others, you want the range as close as possible for balancing purposes.
Especially since MMR exist now, you want as small of a gap as possible.
Anf here is where you logic cookie crumbles.
Lol has a, i would say, 90% working matchmaking. Meanwhile dbds SBMMR softens/loses all its filters when queue time get too long.
When i play with my legitimate iron/bronze friends in league i can steamroll the enemy team most of the time. When i play with my diamond/master friend i get rekt by diamond/high platin enemies.
DBD: I have 300 hours and intentionally lost for the last 2 years and I still saw swf every evening and survivor with several thousands of hours. Same thr other way around according to hearsay on this forum with 5k hour killers stomping 100 or less hour survivors. Or even high matchmaking differences in the survivor lobby between thousands and dozens of playtime hours.
Listed viability of killer wouldn't be a problem IF this game had a working matchmaking system since then every killer would get matched into lobbies with a 50/50 chance of truly winning or losing. But DBD doesn't have that. Either it's a 4k or a 0k and the devs see the statictical 2k average and are happy.

So that means you also want rid of any Perks/Add-Ons that give you undetectable, because survivors can’t hear or see you that well unless they look? Can’t have Nurse’s Calling either since you’ll be able to see me Self-Caring/Circle of Healing!
There’s ways to counter everything, on both sides of the game. Never had an issue with the meta perks, without having to camp or tunnel.
Aside the rest of the discussion maybe don't forget that one side has a limited first person roughly 90 degree fow while the other has a 3rd person camera with nearly 180° fow and height advantage. Survivor can already see over half walls/obstacles and around corners without even showing the tiniest bit unlike killer which also most of the time have the added downside of the red stain.

The title alone will make most people not read this I'm sure but I'll explain my opinion anyway.
I'll make a brief comparison to another game and then I'll get to my point. In Apex Legends (yes I'm aware it's not an asymmetrical game). certain characters are just naturally stronger than others. I main Wattson and Lifeline but I know characters like Octane, Valk, Pathfinder, and Wraith are considered "higher tier" for their mobility and ability to take high ground. Do I think Wattson should be buffed to be able to get high ground and compete with those characters? No, that would be silly. Her playstyle is different and her skill cap should be different.
Going back to DBD, I always see comments about buffing certain killers to the level of the likes of Nurse, Blight, Huntress, etc and I personally don't think they should. Their playstyles are different and they should perform at their current levels based on what type of character they are. Myers should never have the map pressure of a Spirit. Clown should never have the same camping control as a Hag. Killers should not be on the same levels in what they're able to do.
Additionally, just like there are people who play in Masters and Predator ranks in Apex with low tier characters, there are people who play DBD who can pick up ANY killer and do well with them. Which means that the issue isn't actually the characters, it's the skill level of the majority of players and I think that's a harsh truth most people aren't ready to accept. The majority of DBD's player base (and this is directed at survivors AND killers) are just not as good at the game as they think they are. Plain and simple. Your inability to 4k with the Wraith doesn't make the Wraith bad because someone else using the same character against the same team COULD get it done. Therefore, the issue is the player, not the character.
MAYBE Myers needs a slight buff to get out of tier 1 faster but that's literally it. Every killer is fine as they are and should not be buffed or nerfed. (Except the Nemesis tier up sound. that thing is too loud and needs a heavy nerf)
Another "hot take":
One game has a working matchmaking with all people queueing up for the same 100 people 1-4 team free for all.
The other has something that goes out the window ones the queue times go too long since one side has a few hundred or less in queue and the other a few THOUSAND.
Also if killer like trapper just can't perform as well as others then they should NEVER be matched with 4 men swf except the worse ones aka working but in DBD nonexistent matchmaking.
(Disclaimer never played apex so the example of squad sizes and amount of player in one round might be wrong and are taken from other BR game like PUBG or Fortnite, which i also never played, just not my genre without friends that play it.)

Some people (not including survivor mains) seem to think that Lightborn is a waste of a perk. I beg to differ. I just had two matches in a row, one with four flashlights and the other with four flashbangs. Both groups tried to bombard me while body-blocking and both groups ultimately lost their composure and lost after realizing that they had no alternatives to blinding me (sabbing hooks).
I just wanted people to know that if the build works for you, then go for it. There is also one area where you can utilize No Mither and Soul Guard (I'm not a fool and I give props if I see a Survivor doing it). Too many people rely on flashlights instead of trying to find alternative builds.

If minimum spawn distances are added, then maximum should be too. If Scourge Hooks are made more consistent and less-RNG based (which is possible, but BHVR still love their RNG so stick it onto as much as they can), then having them all spawn at the far corners of the map wouldn't be fair either; they should spawn reasonably far apart yet not so far that they're simply out the way.
But still, BHVR love their RNG, so sometimes you'll just get terrible luck. Fun
I still don't know why they haven't coded something similar into the gate spawn mechanic.
Not too close, not too far and maybe not in direct sightlines. Shouldn't be too complicated except for the killer eyeline part.

I want you to look in this whole thread and show me a post where I stated that Grades = MMR
You can easily tell if you're rank 1 when you get consistantly matched with very good survivors and killers
That doesnt mean jack about any "rank 1" for each killer you claimed in your og post as their is no visible INDICATOR.
And yeah good killer shouldn't be matched with potatoes and unskilled killer not with swf death squads but the disparity in player numbers on each side and in different MMR brackets lead to endless queue times and the devs solved that the same way they did during the rank times, they soften the matchmaking filter until everything gets matched with everything else.
Hence why i said that matchmaking even by SBMMR doesn't really work during peak times and you can forget to expect being matched upon neither your overall nor individual killer SBMMR correctly most of the time.
-
@JohnWick1654 said:

There is rank 1 indicator still and that doesn't excuse for me facing potato survivors, my rank should have moved from Ranks to MMR on all killers
That indicator is for GRADES! Doesn't that go into your head?
The grey/yellow/green/purple/red number is the grade and isn't used for matchmaking and not killer specific. It also gets hard reset every month on the 13th and only gives your up to a million BP and nothing more.
There are even multiple threads on this forum asking for their removal outside of showing you your own grade and hide the other players'.
-
Okay i see you open new threads for every aspect of you not undestanding/agreeing with the current system.
The killer specific MMR would be necessary but sadly bhvr just gave us a lame excuse for it in terms of only letting you deviate roughly 200 ELO points away from your top killer. Which makes also sense since the basic looping and M1 gameplay stays the same.
BUT among the 27 killer are some that need huge amount of getting used too and would make a separate ELO rating necessary up to a certain point like nurse or blight.

You type anymore though, so that means it used to correlate with MMR, and in other sentance you said the opposite..
Previously ranks WERE used of matchmaking but then they implemented the "SBMMR" aka a MMR more in line with other ELO based mmr's. The new one is based upon a mixture of kills/escaping coupled with the duration of each trial, at least afaik.
So there is no more "rank 1" as there is no indicator for it. And grades are based on the old emblem system but has nothing to do with matchmaking anymore. Being iri grade one does mean nothing more than you play much between each hard reset on the 13th.

So its just an urban legend like "ruin got nerfed due to overuse". Its ridiculous how poeple try to defend false statements.
And it remains ridiculous that you can't wrap your head around the fact that most of all other team games out their have voice comms and/or ping system integrated from the beginning and more importantly aren't asymmetrical were only one side can gain an advantage from them. That's what's different between most other games and DBD and the reason why it is still such a heated topic after 6 years.
And please don't come me with other asymmetrical games, since they either had voice also integrated like last year and even Friday 13th or most of them are already dead, from hearsay partially because the group was, after a certain time, always able to overpower the killer with enough coordination bordering to bullying.

I hit Rank 1 on old system on killer before,
and about the MMR disparity, return to first quote answer in this comment
Wow, what a way to answer 4 small paragraphs of text with one sentence. Except not.
And to your killer specific matchmaking, i hope you made more than single case studies to make an argument.
I don't care that you hit rank one in the old system. That's still the same as hitting iri grade 1 today since the requirements are the same only plus the new benefit that you can't depip from one color grade to the next lower. Otherwise both systems were depending on Emblem performance.
And with that old ranks have become grades and have become meaningless in terms of MMR.
Your whole fixation on old ranks is stupid. Anyone could reach old red ranks given enough playtime between soft resets.
The hidden MMR value and old ranks have no correlation whatsoever anymore. Their determination process is different now.
-
@JohnWick1654 said:
you seem to confuse yourself,
I call MMR rank because that's what it is in all videogames,
And as for subtracting or dividing highest MMR killer, it is still putting a better player vs worse players regardless of perks or killer,
because in the end the individual skill has the highest impact on the game,
and it is unfun that you would get weak survivors on new killers everytime, resulting in easy 4k games that are boring for both sides
It doesn't matter if you equal rank and MMR. Ranks do no longer exist in DBD. There is no bronze/silver/gold/plat/Dia/master/whatever rank here.
If you say in your og post "rank 1" then you either mean top MMR or iridescent grade 1.
You have to go with the community terminology. Otherwise don't expect anything but a backlash like this thread.
Also the MMR disparity between your new and seasoned killer characters is only roughly 200 of 2000+ so no reason to think of getting to max MMR with all killer characters.
The matchmaking with bad survivors still stems from the fact that matchmaking prioritizes speed over accuracy during busy prime time hours.

I haven't prestiged any character since it takes insane amounts of grind to prestige Every character to 3.
In my eyes it truly only makes sense if you want the cosmetics and I as a killer main personally don't understand even that as i only rarely get to see my own skin outside of the weapon and don't really care to look pretty for the survivors.
In league of legends i prefer legendary skins with changed emote and animations and in rainbow six siege only payed for also legendary skins since they also give a special MVP animation and change the looked of the operators signature gadgets.
But DBD offers none of that so i won't ever invest money in this game for a killer skin and planned only to buy a skin for my main survivor character and that would've been it but i quit before getting into survivor.
-
Killer haven't lost until all survivor are either dead or crossed the line of no return in the exits.
Hatch now is only meant as a last way out for the sole survivor and the key is there to increase the chances of ONLY that survivor in that situation or grant aura reading during a trial.

Again not everyone is doing it to be nice. My point is not everyone is doing it to be toxic either.
Yeah maybe but sadly from my subjective experience of leaving as many survivor as possible survive, the former is heavily outnumbered by the latter when i still went for the gate until i stopped it permanently.

Don't waste everyone's time asking a question that's been answered several times already in the forum already. You can searxh this topic yourself.
Same with camping/tunneling/swf/"this is boring/unfun"/"which killer do like/dislike to play(against) and other such threads.
I hope you reminded all of them too to just look up long dead threads instead of opening another.

There are a number of reasons from wanting extra bloodpoints, searching for chests or totems or wanting extra WGLF stacks. Not all people are doing it to be toxic.
Do they gain wglf stacks by dead harding out the exit?
Because getting a pity hit has long since ceased to be courtesy or the norm.

It does if they want my money. I’m sure alot of people (me included) only buy prime for the rewards but a charm is not worth any money. Ofcourse if you live in america and already have prime it’s “free” but not everyone lives there
I live in Germany and have prime? Many people already have prime and getting prime only for DBD free stuff seems a little bit stupid or naive from my pov.
Of course there is much other stuff in twitch prime making it worth per se but DBD prime content isn't from the beginning and there is no real argument for them to keep a certain standard for a promo giveaway from which i don't think they make much money.

People are complaining because we got 4 great looking outfits with alot of details in them and now we get this, a charm that was probably cut out of the rift so they could sell it as a Prime reward. St patricks day was on march 17th which proves even more that it was cut from the rift
So what?
Just because they gave so much the first 4 times doesn't mean they have to "keep up" or does it?
It still remains absolutely free stuff for the majority.

Sounds like a control group Experiment for the psychological effect of hiding grades in combination with hidden grades and the perception of matchmaking or whatever.
-
Wait, are people here really angry/complaining about the fact that the free stuff they get is not the free stuff that they want?
For real?
I mean, i don't like many of behaviours decisions and personally find the prime rewards just like more of a pathetic attempt to calm the masses (for example riot gives out roughly 10-20€ worth of cosmetics and payed in-game currency away each month for a year now) instead of solving issues in a satisfying and timely manner, but it's still free stuff that they aren't obligated to give out in the first place, or am I wrong here?
And if i am right then i have to call this thread one of the biggest balls of bratty whiny entitlement i have seen in a long time.

Yes, bamboozle shortens the chase for me by a lot that it's why I use it on most of my builds.
For you? A subjective thing then?
Because I don't believe that the chase time saved by bamboozle is even in the same ball park with the time earned by using dh for distance.
Survivor just leave a loop once they hear the entity block and the 15% of vault time saved (0,23 of 1,5 seconds) is still slower than survivor even mid vaulting (0,9seconds) resulting in a distance gain and time to reach the next loop.
