  • I mean. The only thing they’ll do is charge towards the killer to get killed anyway. But it would be nice to get those extra save points

  • best of all. In 2v8 there’s almost no camping and tunneling!

because slugging people allows killer to group survivors up. It allows killer to capitalize off altruism, something that is almost non-existent in cage system.

When hag gets added, you'll see more slugging because… hag relies on altruism to be good. trapper basement, it is all about around altruism. slugging is kinda killer ticket to capitalize off altruism.

wouldn’t hooking them also group survivors up and allow you to capitalize off altruism? It’s the typical excuse of playing dirty but masking it as “a tactic”.

  • yeah it’s weird that people slug in this. It’s not like they have to pick em up and worry about flashlights and sabo squads. I’ve only been slugged twice now. Both by a huntress (go figure). But one time I was able to get myself up on my own and escape. Best believe I tbagged at the gate till the very last second for slugging.
this mode would also be a good testing ground to see what anti-slugging tools are best so they can move it to 1v4 where if you’re not camped or tunneled, you’re slugged

BHVR will not want the community separated where 8 survivors are removed from the main queue

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3769128#Comment_3769128

You are missing my point entirely.

This mode removes 8 survivors from the standard queues for every match and puts them into a mode where the content they sell such as killers and survivors many buy for their perks are not able to be accessed.

No access to DLC = no reason to buy it = no money for BHVR.

They may add the game mode again but no way it would ever be permanent

I mean your point of queue times was what I was addressing. Not DLC. So I can’t really miss the point I wasn’t addressing. Yeah the killers and skins are limited….but they can add them in once they figure out how to balance them. I have every perk, every killer, every survivor. And I still prefer this over the 1v4. Plus they still have the option of regular 1v4 where they can go play if they want to use perks and things they can’t in 2v8. Queue times for regular mode, is largely the same.
if the new mode is this successful, and is dragging in new players in the game. (I know three who got the game to try this mode), then it’d be the smart thing to add it permanently as it is adding revenue and larger player base who may eventually purchase DLC

  • Yeah dude the queue times are miserable! And it’s not even that it’s because there’s a small killer pool. I’ll play with my friend and still wait around 10 minutes for a match.
id like to see deathslinger in this mode. Or nemesis with a bunch of zombies. It’d be so funny

2v8 is way more fun for me as survivor, because there's so much going on and you do more of everything. 1v4 feels like a boring slog in comparison and also frustrating with how much upper hand killers have. 70s gens also feels sooooo much better, I can't go back to sitting 90s on a gen.

yeah. I just did a round of 1v4. It was on Hawkins with the xenomorph. The killer was so preoccupied tunneling that all I did was gens. Never even went down and ignored me to chase the dude he’s tunneling. Killer wound up with only 4 hooks and a loss. But it was just kind of boring and he was crazy toxic in post game chat.
I think the mode is more fun for survivor but can suck as killer sometimes if you’re hyper focused on winning. It’s extra bad if you’re playing with a random killer, but I don’t do that so I can’t say. But I stand by that if you go into it with a casual goofy mindset, you’ll enjoy the mode a lot more.

  • yeah a lot of characters are lacking outfits. No fault of the devs though, that’s just a licensing issue and the owners of that franchise being butts. I’d like an OG Freddy skin and maybe some alternative character skins for Quentin like Jonny depps character Glen from the first movies. Like how Steve has a skin to be Jonathan from stranger things.

  • Toxic slugging definitely needs to be addressed. Sometimes it is the strategy to go for, like if there are a bunch around with flashlights or you need extra pressure.
I think base kit unbreakable would be best. Something like the 2v8 mode where if you’re dead on hook you can get yourself back up off the ground.

Ive already gone back to 1v4.

In 2v8 as survivor I get put with people who just muck around, and as killer the gens absolutely fly. I sit in queue for 30 mins and the match is literally over in 6 mins or less. Ping ping ping ping.

yeah it is frustrating when you’re the only one in 8 people who are in a gen. But it’s a lot more casual. If winning is a major importance for you, def not the mode to go. But I have fun regardless. I play with my friend who has maybe 2 hours total as killer (she doesn’t even know how to lunge) and it’s so funny. I got 19 hook stages one match while she got 4 lmao. And two were people I doened

  • @MaTtRoSiTy said:

They would never make this permanent, it separates too many players from the queues for the main game mode

Thank goodness too, though if you enjoy it that is good for you but I am done with it personally and look forward to it ending so the regular queues go back to normal.

respectfully, that’s a terrible point. At the time of writing this there are over 62k on steam alone. Never mind the players on other platforms like PlayStation, Xbox, and epic games. The player base can handle it easily. Also right now, during peak interest. I’ve had literally 0 impact on regular queue times for killer and survivor.
and like the other guy said…why would they remove a mode people find more enjoyable than the original? Like “oof, this is too successful, better not capitalize on this and please the majority of the player base”.

  • yeah I’m dreading regular again too. I’ve done a few 1v4 matches and I just wasn’t enjoying it as much. Didn’t even want to but I had a challenger I couldn’t do in 2v8. It was miserable. Like this is the casual mode I need to escape the “otz says tunneling and camping is the best strategy, so I live by that code and if you disagree you’re an entitled survivor.” Crowd

  • *stypic, not atypical. Predictive text srry

  • makes it more casual. Imagine 8 survivors with off the record. Or 8 pain res in a match. 8 survivors with atypical or bnp. Two killers with one hit down addons and what not. It would suck. The cages are great because they almost completely prevent camping and tunneling which is the main complaint people have in this game.

I love the cage and class system. Keeps the game casual and fun while keeping the “competitive meta” builds and mentality at bay.

  • I agree. Only time I actually enjoy survivor. Game is so much more fun and less toxic and less stressful.

They can keep it up and just do updates and balance patches like the did with OG dbd

Queing as TRapper right now… waiting

Last match took 17 min to get in.

most matches have a trapper in it. try queing up as a lesser played killer. i see trapper and wraith the most. try huntress or nurse. RARELY do i see a billy so that might help

  • @TheRivulet said:

I honestly would add like a 10 iridescent shards bonus per survivor match (10 per match is actually a lot not gonna lie)

this would be dope. getting extra shards would be alot more impactful than BP. i have every character to P3, both survivor and killer. so i dont care about bp at all. but that would be dope and would definitely work.

right now my only incentive is that i can do my survivor challenges and have fun because im not getting tunneled into oblivion.

  • im glad there are no perks or addons. can you imagine getting pain resed 8 times in a match? itd be miserable. or an army of survivors using off the record to take an abundance of hits. killers always running iri addons, and 8 survivors with a stypic. the class system keeps the mode casual. the game desperately needs a casual mode where people dont feel the need to be meta and sweat, this seems to be that mode.

items are fine. i get way more use out of medkits and toolboxes in this mode than any other. the chests also give higher rarity of items which is nice, so many green toolboxes. yeah there are no flashlight saves but you can still use em at a pallet. basically the only difference is addons and no saves. which is whatever tbh. it would suck as killer have a platoon of survivors beaming their retinas every time there was a down.

i think apart of the problem is that a lot of people come into this with the mentality of 1v4, but with a teammate where you can be extra tactical with. and not the mentality of just casual goofy fun.

  • I dont think the queue times are a reason to never add this mode ever again. especially when the queue times are because of the modes overwhelming success and the massive influx of people wanting to play killer. its also an optional game mode that doesn't impact the regular mode at all.

bottom line, majority of people are loving it, its incredibly popular. queue times such yeah, but eventually it'll sort itself out as excitement dies down. I want it to be a permanent mode. especially just to ACTUALLY have fun as survivor for once. I refuse to play survivor in regular because its just tunneling and camping. this mode got rid of that.

  • @Kekz0r85 said:

I noticed the Trapper bug as well. But it only happens if I use the Naugty Bear skin. Any other Set or Combination of Cosmetics work just fine 😔

that is good to know. i have noticed a significant difference in success in this mode when facing a naughty bear trapper vs regular trapper. almost no traps when they play as naught bear, or theyre in weird places like they just kinda set them where they spawned

  • personally i love it. i actually choose to play survivor and enjoy it now because im not camped or tunnled. its so amazing. and killer is fun too since theres alwasy something going on.

my only gripe is the survivors i get teamed up with. like how am I the only person of 8 total survivors….doing a gen? Ive been let in cage to get to second stage, people ignore me entirely when needing heals, they lat out ignore gens. its the definiton of solo queue lmao

  • personally i dont have any issues with any class. i do use escapist but thats for windows of oppotunity. To me its no different than the survivor standard of sprint burst and windows, so half the time i dont notice any difference.

Doubt 1v4 will have enough players to play with if killer queues on 2v8 means anything.

queue times in 1v4 haven’t been impacted at all. Still exactly the same for me

  • yeah they really should update it and keep it on. The og game wasn’t exactly balanced either but they improved upon it over the years. They can do the same thing. My balance patches as the days go by

  • and you do you resist the urge to not be toxic afterwards? CBT is a good start. Cognitive behavior therapy to help change your thought process and reaction to it. Emotional intelligence and control is also helpful. If you feel yourself building up rage, take a breath or a break. Know that next game shouldn’t be like that.

  • @TheRealConsent said:

Honestly, I think a lot of survivors just deserve to get slugged.

Do you genuinely think you can ruin someone else's day and not have him take it out on someone else, maybe multiple times?

I just played a game of Singularity on Azarov's, and boy, let me tell you did my chases go well.

Every single time I entered chase, the survivors would run to the nearest wall and jump off the map. They would teleport somewhere I don't know, and I would teleport to my original spawn point. Wash, rinse, repeat. They'd EMP, heal, and continue the cycle.

I left the game. Why would I bother with it? Literally speaking, if they are doing a generator, and if I teleport on top of them, they tank the first hit, run, I teleport again, and by the time I can even hold W to catch up (I even have Rapid Brutality) they would jump off the map.

Every. Single. Survivor. And it wasn't even a SWF. After I quit, one guy in the EG chat said "HAHAHAHAHHA EZ" and left.

Now how can you have a game like this, and resist the urge to go Nurse and slug everyone the next game?

I'm not saying every survivor deserves to get tunneled, but most of you underestimate how much you deserve to get tunneled. This is coming from someone that's against tunneling, by the way.

I don’t think using a bug and survivors abusing the bug is a valid reason for killers to be toxic as a whole. This was a problem even before the bug.

but here my usual matches as both.

Killer: occasionally a serial t-bagger. Occasionally a flashlight spammer. Overall chill vibes. If I do get a toxic survivor, I’m toxic back. But otherwise it’s fine.

Survivor: almost always tunneled, often camped, often smacked on hook, often experiencing the killer version of tbagging where they move back and forth. I am slugged very often as well. My play style? I suck at flashlights so I don’t do that. I’m not good enough at chase so I don’t BM during it. I just do gens and play chill. Yet every match is so miserable and toxic I rarely play and when I do it’s about 4 matches till I’m tired of it.

I main killer. Ghostface is my go to. So I don’t understand why killers feel the need to act the way they do and kill the vibes. And don’t say mmr…mine is very high. It’s rare I don’t get a 3-4k.

if a survivor is being toxic or abusing bugs/exploits. Report them for grieving and exploiting. Don’t take it out on the people who just want to have fun and do nothing wrong.

  • nah man. I can 4k easy even with no perks or addons. That would be miserable for survivor

  • I also had this. My friend was wraith and was unaffected. However I queued up as huntress but became trapper when the match started.

  • @ahrenisabimbo said:

Forgive me, or better yet inform me, if this idea has been proposed recently but one of my dream additions to DBD would be a small reward given to players once they receive a “Give Props” from another player (This can be limited/off for SWF if you want).

I’m only talking something like 5K Bloodpoints per Give Props or you could be even grander if you like!

Having a genuinely kind and sportsmanlike game feels so satisfying and heartwarming, why not incentivise players to be kinder to one another!

I actually have been thinking of the same thing. A reward system for playing well and fun. Might incentivize the toxic ones to change their ways.

Part of me wants a player based reputation system, but this community is too toxic to not abuse that

  • it’s the camping and tunneling for me. Killer is great, rarely do I ever come across toxicity. But as survivor….it’s unbearable. Hell I just had an oni face camp this guy he got off the hook twice for free. Survivor is just hoping you don’t get found first so you can actually play the game instead of get camped/tunneled out of the match. I used to play frequently with friends to goof off in swf. But it’s gotten so severe we get like 3 matches in till everyone gives up and stops playing.

    BUFF THAT FACECAMP METER ALREADY

  • I mean I win the VAST majority of my games without ever tunneling or camping. So my mmr is certainly not low or even mid level. But here’s the counter to your argument. If a survivor team can win by being efficient…would that not also be true for killer? Maybe the killer you main just isn’t the right one for you. Maybe the build you’re using isn’t the right one, or your tactics are off. You DO NOT need to camp or tunnel to win. It’s a case of git gud.

Because of YouTubers, streamers, and the competitive scene. Most people just look up specific builds other people made, and play killer others recommend. Find your flavor. It’s much better.

I main ghostface. I run all aura perks. It’s strong, fun, hilarious, and a play style I made for myself to have fun. I've lost one match from rank 20 to 1. And that’s cuz I got a phone call. Hell I don’t even kill anyone until everyone is on death hook. Yet I still win like 90% of my games without camping or tunneling. Find your flavor. You can have fun without popping an aneurysm going for the win in an unsportsmanlike manner.

  • @VomitMommy said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3760508#Comment_3760508

If you can't win against tunneling and camping, then you are playing out of your skill set. Take the loss and let that MMR drop so you get worse killer where you don't get downed in 10 seconds.

But saying SWF just get ruined fun and vibes is hilarious…

I do take the L. Hell when I’m def we all either DC or die on hook so we can move on to a match that isn’t tunneling and camping. Like my goal in dbd is to have fun. Winning is not a requisite of achieving that. And if I have to lose 10000 matches in a row to get down to an mmr where killers play to enjoy themselves and not like they’re in a tournament. I will happily do so, and continue to do so. So long as I have fun during it.

And yes. When your friend is being camped and tunneled, that affects everyone within that group. Most friends like it when their friend is having fun, and dislike it when they aren’t. Especially when their now negatively effected mood is effecting the goofy positive mood they had.

The same is for killer. I don’t care about winning. I want to have fun. I play killer to meme and jumpscare and it’s amazing. The post game chat is fun too. Why? Because neither side is being toxic or playing in an unsportsmanlike manner.

The problem with DBD is dedicated killer mains and dedicated survivor being so obsessed with total victory that they sap out the enjoyment for themselves and everyone in the match. You will not get anything special for the 4k or 4 escape. You will not get anything for having high mmr, nor would anyone even know what your mmr is. Y’all need to chill. It’s a video game. You won’t be disowned if you relax a little.

  • yeah it’s been so severe that I started running unbreakable and exponential. I also feel like I’m forced to run anti-camp/tunnel perks too. I only play survivor now if a bunch of friends want to play and goof off.

  • I hate playing survivor because of this. There’s so much camping, tunneling and slugging. The whole experience is miserable solo. And when it happens in swf it just ruins the fun and the vibe.

I strongly believe the face camp meter needs and speed buff and range buff. I’ve been camped by killer just ever so slightly far enough where I can’t get off before second stage. There also needs to be punishment for toxic gameplay on both sides. Not necessarily a ban but punishing enough to make them think twice.

In general if you, as a killer, have to camp or tunnel for the kill. You are playing out of your skill set. Take the loss and let that mmr to drop so you don’t have to play in such a terrible manner

  • We were referring to the most recent tomes and challenges. Yeah the game as a whole has a bunch of challenges that require a 4k. But the ratio of 4k challenges to not 4k is significant. To the point where it makes no sense that a survivor should be slugged almost every match, so the killer can get that 4k. Even when accounting for the adept achievements. Virtually everytime I or someone else has been slugged, they do not have the adept required perks equipped.

And the 4k bp bonus is a joke. 2.5k? That’s like getting excited over a dollar. The time spent having a survivor slugged and running around looking for the final one, could be spent in other matches. You will absolutely get more BP per hour, by just finishing a match and moving on, rather than spending ages looking for a guy for the bp equivalent of a singular yellow add on.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/420026/bleed-out-surrender-option

As a killer, I will agree to this only when each and every survivor agrees to exit the gate when the game is done instead of wasting time standing there to give you the final flashlight click or to bag you.

This might not be you so please ignore if not like you OP, but if you are a survivor who complains about bleeding out, but wastes time at the gate just to get one more dig in on the killer, you are a hypocrite.

that is hella annoying when I play killer. Like just leave lmao. But the difference is, the killer can open the gate if the survivors refuse to peave. If they’re sitting at the gate the killer can force them out. There are things the killer can do to make that less annoying. A survivor is left to the mercy of the bleed out timer and killer. Like all they can do is hope the killer hooks them, the remaining survivor attempts to get them, or they die. It’s a miserable experience

Ego huh, It's not the ego, but literally emblems, tomes, achievements, bloodpoints, literally every single aspect of game is asking for 4k

I don't give single ######### if there was functionally no difference in 3k and 4k, but there is, and it is absolutely big one, if you don't know anything about game system please go play the killer for once

please list the parts of the game that require a 4k. A guy already did the math and mention the two challenges that could require it. So what is the “every aspect” you are talking about?

I have every achievement and 3k hours in the game. I primarily play killer. And your claim is absolutely outlandish. I cannot remember the last time, outside of an adept achievement, that a 4k was required. Even then…I don’t slug for the 4k.

  • @Neaxolotl said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3759413#Comment_3759413

Then it shouldn't exist, there is no reason survivors should be granted a hatch

Slugging 4k is nothing wrong, in fact, as long as there is things that require 4k killer must have something to get 4k, relying on pure RNG is stupid

they aren’t granted hatch though. They’ll need to find it, just like the killer would need to find it. It’s not a free win for a survivor. It just allows a survivor to choose their fate rather than laying on the ground for four minutes because the killer feels like the 4k is absolutely necessary. If you a survivor is slugged to reach the halfway point I’m proposing, that’s two minutes of doing nothing. The 4k is not that serious, improving the QOL and enjoyment of BOTH sides is.

  • It’s not so much fully bleeding out fully. But being slugged. Slugging for the 4k is extremely common. Hell I’ve been slugged almost every match this week

  • @Neaxolotl said:

At that point just sacrifice everyone at once and call it the end, obviously only when everyone is downed

that wouldn’t be the same as this. As this would allow the bleeding survivors to get out of a match early and let the others get the hatch.

  • epic if you’re on epic

  • I don’t get the bonus when using powers either. Like nemesis or chainsaw

  • it’s only imbalanced if you strictly play survivor or killer. It leaves you with heavily biased opinions and a lack of understanding for the difficulties the other side faces.

  • @Mooks said:

something I think everyone can agree with is, Chaos Shuffle has shown more perk variety in matches is fun and facing only select Meta perks is one reason why this game has been getting stale

So while I don’t think just making perks completely random works in the permanent/core game mode it would be nice to have more incentive for perk variety while not forcing certain perks/perk combos that don’t make sense or forcing perks that you really dont want to use.

    My idea:

Once you have used a perk in one match it will be set back by one tier (if it was already on tier 1 it goes on cooldown and can’t be used until recharged)

Recharging can be done normally in the bloodweb. Teachable perks from the respective character would be cheaper to recharge (and also can’t go lower than tier 1 - this I guess should also work for general perks). So everyone will have always access to tier 1 of the general perks and their own teachables.

One problem that arises: survivors can just easily switch through all of their characters to basically never be affected by it/just inconvenienced - maybe only in case of survivors have it for survs reset for all of them?

this may be a big shake up from the known mechanics and viewed by many as a kind of punishment, but i do believe for the fun of the community AND for balancing perk reliance isnt healthy and something should be changed.

or they could just make it a regular game mode and not screw the majority over

  • @TheTom20 said:

It can be any killer any map. These players have no intention of even playing the game so why do they keep quing up. I stream every night but so many games are ruined by team mates who instantly give up. Sometimes its several games in a row 2-3 people will give up many just runing straight up to the killer to be hit an hooked.
Even when we are completly destorying the killer someone will give up on first hook.
Like the killer will have 1 or 2 hooks someone goes on first hook there is 1 gen left we are clearly winning an they just instantly give up.

there is absolutely nothing you can do to make a survivor not quit. Remove giving up on hook? They’ll just go afk or purposely chase you down and spam noises till you kill them. Hell they could just alt f4 and be done with it if that mechanic is added.

And frankly I’m fine with it. I give up. I just had 5 clowns in a row all running almost the same build. I was tired of it. Hell yesterday most of my matches the people who quit were getting camped. They shouldn’t be forced to stay in a game they won’t be able to play because of camping and tunneling.

The community is too toxic to do anything about it.
