It’s a pretty limited game event, and the game is doing extremely well. The forums, Reddit, and other places make up only a small portion of the player base, and most people are probably enjoying it, to be honest. I don’t really see them putting much effort into it right now. Nothing will likely change until next year, but at least the normal mode is still available to play.
Guaranteed they won't ever make a mistake like this again. "Game is doing extremely well" or whatever you are purporting. Most killers are getting things they need and getting out. Thats not a successful event.

Or not as can also mean there is more survivors in the event mode than in the normal. We don't know how many killer players are playing either mode or how many survivors. It could literally be even on killers but its faster on event because there is more survivor players.
Funny thing I just played two matches in both I ran over the survivor team in the start felt so bad I let them fix the gens and farm because its an event I don't see point to play a round where I end it from the start. I have had no reason to DC in this event don't really ever do it anyway as I play this game for fun and would not play the event mode if I would not enjoy it. Its at least different from the normal mode that I can play anytime.
Your "running over survivors", if even true, doesn't reflect the majority of experiences on YouTube, Twitch, forums, etc

I agree with her. Putting the unfairness of the event aside, I don't really get all the fuss. It's a limited time event that no one is forced to play. They just failed to deliver on the fun of the concept they had in mind, and I don't think the constant harsh criticism since the event dropped serves much purpose anymore. They'll take the feedback, hopefully learn from it and do better in the future. We can move on. It's all good.
You can't even make an excuse for how bad it is. Sorry, not moving on. We're going to make a lot of noise to ensure nothing this awful ever happens again.
-
I mean they really messed this event up. I'm hoping someone is working on a guide to show killers how to do the minimum amount of work to get the stuff that matters so they can spend their time doing other things.
The game was already so easy for survivors. Now they can run through a portal, go invisible, block pallets for an hour lolol. Hopefully most killers are joining matches and just doing the quests they need to do. Glad to see even some survivors are saying "this is fun but yeah, it's pretty ridiculous for killers right now"
Absolutely horrible job here BHVR. Just awful. Again, if it's just about making money and retaining survivors who don't want to improve, please just say that. Please be honest. There's no way that some designer or dev thought this was a great idea without some kind of incentive for themselves to do so.
-
I see and experience a lot of people missing with new Vecna. I think it will just take some practice for you to improve. I barely win 40-50% of my games using him and I'm working to get better. No nerf is needed.
-
Some people feel very competitive when they play and some don't. This is their right when paying for and playing a video game.

They should rename the game to Dead by Tunneling.
Of all things, foolish Team-mates who pull me off hook next to the killer, Killers who camp to tunnel or high speed killers that go across map in seconds to tunnel me. Its absurd gameplay and I honestly think people are getting VERY tired of it.
Or they could call it Pallet Breaking Simulator. How much more help do you need before you decide either to get better or maybe the game isn't for you?

Im so glad ds is a general perk now.
Im glad bt is 15s now. (Should've given elusive too ngl).
Now, everyone can somewhat reasonably run ds and unbrrakable....even though those perks only work once and barely do anything against high tiers,
while doing tunneling and slugging, doesnt require a perk usage....makes semse. Lol
This is way more than enough help. Time for survivors to just get better through practice.
-
Tunneling has a natural defense, it's called looping. You already have basekit anti-camp, anti-loop, lots of perks to help you, windows and pallets everywhere etc etc. The devs have WAY better stuff they should be working on instead of something that has natural counters. Some killers have to tunnel just to keep it fair after all the free-rides survivors are getting now.

With the absymal year survivor had this year.
Bt being 15 secound is the only good thing they had this year in terms of combating the soloq bs.
Which, overall didnt do much since most killers easily can catch up and wait out bt.
the best part is, we DONT KNOW if bt being 15s will even stay, all the nerfs are solidfied because no one complained about them, i doubt it will stay once bhvr experimental phase with it is over.
15 seconds is a long time when a gen can be finished in ~70-80 seconds, plus all the extra time you get on the slow pickup, slow walking to the hook, and slow hooking. Its a big risk to tunnel someone but given how easy the game is for survivors now, it's a risk you have to take to even the odds.

if you’re slugging for the 4k than you didn’t earn squat. This is coming from a 50/50 player who never slugs for the 4k.
What? Slugging for a 4k is maximum skill. Tons of opportunities to get yourself up, take 3rd hit etc. It really cant get any easier for you unless they add mechanics like forced the killer to run to the other side of the map to avoid camping penalties, adding more hook states, etc. When is enough help enough? When will it be time for you to just get better at the game?

You're only moderate at the game because they've handicapped the killer so badly. 2 years ago you'd have been rage quitting and slamming your keyboard on stream at your skill issues 🤣

Welcome back to prehistoric versions of DBD. Where camping was the easiest and 100% uncounterable strategy. Where borrow time was mandatory for every survivor and if anyone did not bring it, he was trolling. Where killers had to get 1 chase for 3K guaranteed should survivors not take the mandatory perk - by just staying in a single spot not really playing the game.
Basekit BT is a direct response of abuse. Similar to say nerf to the ground of boil over (compared to busted version we had where hooking was impossible in number of maps)
But sure. If those were the good times, then let's bring other busted things from those same times. Now DS has just 2 condition to activate - killer picking survivor up and survivor hitting skillcheck. If he hits it, killer gets stunned for 5s. No hook condition, no repeat condition. Fair right? Like no basekit BT times…
Camping is completely counterable. Its called doing gens. You do gens while the killer stupidly sticks around where nothing is happening. 3k is a win.

@UndeddJester said:
The issue is that unfortunately trying to remove body blocking causes more problems that it's worth.
- Removing no clip between Survivor and Killer actually makes it easier to body block cause you can sit in the killers model, and the killer cannot not hit you.
- Tying it to protection hits allows killers to subvert it by hitting the unhooker as they go for the unhook, and then hit the unhooked Survivor while the injured Survivor is within 16m to bypass their BT.
- Chase mechanics have similar issues where they can be bypassed by simply entering chase with the other survivor after they unhook to down.
Its actually quite hard to get rid of the body blocking problem without doing something crazy...
E.g. make Survivors off hook ethereal or something and make it physically impossible to hit or interact with them for the duration of BT.... which means there is genuinely no way to stop them when running to gate...
But they turn off bodyblocking all the time when the killer strikes. I don't get your argument here - I think its too complex to explain something that should be simple and fair.
- You got Basekit BT
- You got an additional 5 seconds
- You got an unhook yourself counter
Now you think it's ok to also get a bodyblock? When is enough enough?
-
@Blaconia said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4037485#Comment_4037485
The reason we got basekit BT in the first place is because prior to 6.1 despite it being an altruistic perk, many people still brought it, suggesting a strong need for it. (This is also why I think people wanting every other perk to be basekit is a bad idea)
Did you play survivor before 6.1? I don't think you realise how bad, uninteractive and unskillful gameplay could be if your unhooker didn't bring BT and farmed you. Like Gandor points out, the killer could insta down you off hook with zero counter. The only true prevention to this was DS, so if you want everyone to start bringing 5 second DS go ahead. :)
Basekit BT doesn't even encourage insta farming survivors off hook because if your death hook teammate just got hooked, you should leave them there where they cannot be tunneled. I just had a game where someone unhooked my tunnel target and they died a whole minute earlier than they should have because of it.
They recently nerfed two of the biggest BT ignorers (Soma Singularity and OG Pain Pinhead) but imo survivors should just be 100% ethereal to killer powers for maybe 1 or 2 seconds off hook so you can't do stuff like Dracula Hellfire and Artist Severed Hands.
In general though, 15 second BT is probably too long but if it has to stay Deliverance needs to be gutted because that's a brainless perk that encourages farming teammates and tunnelling the unhooked survivor.
You wrote a lot here and not sure you answered my question. Im not complaining about Basekit BT. Im complaining about 1) Length of it and 2) having other negative side effects to the game such as bodyblocking. It should be there for tunneling and camping, thats it. Why would you be allowed to just unhook right in front of someone and think that's acceptable as yet another perk. It should block you from hitting the person coming off hook. Thats it. Everything else is just yet another handicap to make bad players never get better.

why should the killer be able to guarantee themselves a 4k? It goes both ways.
BECAUSE THE KILLER EARNED IT! If you can't open a gate as the last survivor, you deserve to take the L. You had plenty of chances to win with 4 others.

You can't be serious. The game isn't easy enough for you yet that you need this? If anything, the hatch should go away - why should the last person have an extra way out when theyve clearly lost? They put hatch in to stop survivor whining - you should be thankful theyve even done that.

I think its pretty safe to say Im not the only one who thinks Trapper is not that great of a killer, and the biggest reason for that is a lack of consistency and the over reliance of RNG. Not only is he incredibly map dependant because of his status as a basic M1 killer, but also there are certain maps that make traps stick out like a sore thumb. Not to mention once someone is in a trap, they have a chance of escaping on their first attempt. What I plan on doing is making him more consistent, and also addressing some frustrations Survivors have with him
-New Ability: "Agitated Trail". Once a Survivor is caught in a bear trap, a trail will appear. As long as he remains outside of chase while following said trail, he moves at 6m/s. (Yes, basically Houndmaster's trail when dat dawg is searching)
-Traps are no longer based on luck, but instead a struggle action which takes 10 seconds by default. Additionally, continuous skill checks will appear which can allow the trapped Survivor to escape up to 1 second earlier.
These 2 changes accomplish a few things. First it allows Trapper to more consistently get value out of his power, but it also makes things a little more interesting/interactive for Survivors so they arent just sitting there.
-Traps apply Hindered for a short time after escaping (8% for 10 seconds).
On larger maps, the suggested changes above may still not be enough to quite make it, especially if someone else rescued them. This way if he's just shy of making it, he still has a chance to beat the survivor to a safe tile. It also just makes sense, its a damn bear trap
-Traps that are disarmed by any means will automatically reset after 60 seconds.
The difference between base kit and having Iri Stone is night and day. Somewhat incorporating it into his basekit not only makes him more consistent balance wise since he wont be over reliant on add ons. Itll also make going against SWF a little more bearable since his power will have more up time
-Survivors can now only see traps within 3 meters of it. (Fade in from 2-3 meters, fully visible within 2 meters)
Maps with little to no grass can make his traps stick out like a sore thumb even from further away. This change aims to not make him so map dependant
-Traps can no longer be placed or rearmed within 10 meters of a hooked survivor.
I think many can agree that Trapper only really has camping. There are plenty of places where saves are nearly impossible. Moving away from this playstyle and focusing more on making his traps more consistent will hopefully push him towards a more healthy playstyle
With these changes, some add ons would need to be changed/reworked, but also some others since they are simply repeated add ons.

Lengthened Jaws (Changed rarity from Uncommon to Rare): Increases the duration of the Hindered status effect by 2 seconds.
VERY RARE
Twisted Mask (Replaces Honing Stone): Following the Agitated Trail grants you the Undetectable status effect. This effect lingers for 15 seconds.
Oily Coil: Resetting a Bear Trap reveals all Survivors auras within 16 meters.
Fastening Tools (Changed from Rare to Very Rare): Increased trap setting time by 100% (OG Trap setting animation) Increases trap escape time, rescue time, and disarm time by 50%.
Trapper Sack: Unchanged.
VISCERAL
Bloody Coil: Added debuff; Trap reset timer increased by 20 seconds.
Iridescent Stone: Picking up a Trapped Survivor increases your movement speed by 18%. This bonus is lost once the Survivor is off your shoulder by any means.
THATS ALL FOLKS!
And there we go... this post took me a while to write since coming up with a bunch of different add ons and also make sure that his kit is simple at his core is not a small feat. Hopefully I achieved that, let me know what yall think :)
Maybe faster trap setting? For traps that have already been set before?

dear behavior,
please do something about the slugging and tunneling. Over the last 20-30 matches I can count on one hand in how many matches at least 1 survivor made it out of the game. In almost every match I have either all lose because the killer slugs them all when he sees he loses the game especially the last 2 survivors or he tunnels every single one of them.To be honest I’m not even having fun anymore as a survivor. It’s not normal that 17 out of 20 matches, every single survivor loses.
You have a counter to them though. It's called looping and doing gens. I see lots of tunnelling killers on Twitch lose despite tunneling.

Should be a time sink to go lose it. You also lose it once you get hooked.

It's only fun when something has meaningful counterplay.
Kaneki has a lower skill floor than Legion. What you really should be saying is "It's only fun when I can get free downs with a power that requires zero skill or effort to use."
What? It definitely needs skill to use, and there are mountains of videos of survivors beating Kaneki. It's just time for survivors to get better at the game instead of needing constant nerfs.
-
@SoGo said:
Currently, when a survivor is hooked next to a door, it can still be used.
This creates impossibly fast saves, but more importantly, it gives Afton an extreme potential to proxy-camp and tunnel, likes of which we have not seen since the Hag.
Even she pales in comparison to him, as you could disable all the traps she sets up, but you can't stop him from using the door right next to the hook.
My proposed solution:
• No one can teleport to doors in a 12 meter radius of a hooked survivor.
(This means, that you can teleport away, but can't go back.)
There is a counter to camping called "doing gens". Insanely sophisticated, I know!
-
@Tornxs said:
Kaneki needs a massive nerf or a rework, he is super unfun to go against. It feels there is no positive interactions to his power from the survivor side, his first attack with his power feels cheap and undeserving almost all the time then his follow up with the ability to catch up to you as quick as someone like blight or nurse it just feels like you might as well give up when he finds you.
Most killers are really fun to play against and their powers mostly feel fun to learn to play around but Kaneki just has no downside, almost every game I have had with him a survivor as DCed. Every YouTube video of Kaneki the comment section is complaining about his power, it is on Bhvr's radar? It's at a point now where if I verse one I would rather take the 5 minute DC penalty then to deal with it. The killer is incredibly unhealthy for the game, a killer should have a power a survivor can learn and counter with skill but free hits through walls/pallets/windows is really bad game design then the ability to vault a pallet and insta down you if your injured. It feels like im playing the original legion.
"It's only fun whenever I win, so nerf everything so I always win because I don't really want to have to compete."
Fixed it for you.

You are not forced into consistently camping and tunneling in a public match if you're any good at the game. The DbD community has a massive Dunning-Kruger problem. The notion that killer players have where you're either tunneling or perfectly distributing 12 hooks is ridiculous.
Killers can play for hooks if they put in the time to improve. Most won't. They'll assume they're high MMR even if they're losing consistently, never question that bafflingly dumb logic, start tunneling every game, and wonder why they're still struggling against good players after 2000 hours.
Tunneling is way too impactful relative to how easy it is. And the counter relies on magically predicting that you need DS or OTR while also getting teammates who will be perfectly efficient on gens while someone is being tunneled.
Yes and running Windows of Opp and being able to w-key across the entire map isn't super easy either lol. Given the numerous opportunities to win and dodge for survivors combined with now lightning fast gens? Sorry, camping and tunneling need to stay and you guys need to figure out how to better utilize all the gifts this game maker has given you. It's time for YOU to skill up instead.
If you want to remove tunneling even more than it's already been removed, then we need to eliminate 30%+ of the pallets and windows that are always there for your escape. I'd love to see skilled survivors again, instead of fools that bag at the gate after theyve just run from corner to corner while gens are done in a few mins, and taunt as if they have skill lololol

Sure, you could say it's that easy to counter tunneling (but it's not as easy as you claim, sorry to rain on your parade), and doing nothing but looping all game doesn't make it fun. Idk about you, but I'd like to do some other things. Some gens, some altruism, along with some chases.
And if the game is so hard for Killers that they're forced to rely on tunneling to even stand a chance, why are they playing?
I'd prefer players that can't handle tunneling to try a different game.
Maybe you should try a different game if you can't handle not tunneling.
Because tunneling IS a strategy. Tournament players use it. And camping too. Gens are done in 60 seconds now, everything has to be on the table for killers.. Trying to make the game ezmode for people who can't counter a strategy with another strategy is not REMOTELY the same as "no, YOU quit the game because you aren't allowed to use tunneling anymore because it makes the game hard 4 me."
It's time for people to get better in place of using nerfing as a "strategy" because Behavior is afraid to lose players who demand participation trophies. If you don't want to get better given the countless advantages (pallets and windows around every corner, basecamp BT, basecamp hook facecamp timer, no deadends anymore, survivors win the 8 generator kicks, survivors move immediately after knockdown instead of getting reset to killers' feet) then why are you playing? Why does Behavior have to keep giving you help instead of providing you opportunities to train and get better?

Might just be getting unlucky and facing very sweaty killers, but its just taking the fun out of the game. Something needs to change or people will simply stop playing this game. I cant even see how tunneling is fun from the killers perspective.
Tunneling has a counter, it's called looping, windows, pallets, jungle gyms - the amount of ez they have added to this game for survivors is crazy, but I don't blame them. You guys keep getting on and threatening to leave and they get scared for some reason. I'd prefer players that can't handle tunneling to try a different game.

Stunned at how fast gens are being done. Given that it's survivor heavy in terms of players and ez queue time, probably best for a lot of killers to go to regular mode if not farming BP.
-
easy and cheap, really interesting idea
-
Agree with you, and just make it fewer gens and remove things that slow the game down like being able to reset pallets (there's way more than enough to begin with).
More games, more players, faster queue to queue.

The punishment for camping is that 2-3 survivor can do gens in peace without being interrupted by the killer. The huge problem with camping is that in soloq, coordinating the unhook is hard to do, especially when there's no info on whether the killer is camping or not.
I really hope they add self unhook progress to the activity hud next update.
And yes, some killers can proxy camp and then deny the unhook completely with their power, like Bubba or Billy, Trickster too if you do it right. That's when you have to choose as a team to let the person go stage 2 and slam gens, or die on hook if it's completely unavoidable. Sometimes, it's best to not worry about the unhook and spend as much time as possible doing gens instead.
It's similar to how it's sometimes smart to wait for the killer to start chasing another survivor, injuring them, and then actually committing to someone else at the other side of the map before going to unhook someone so they don't get tunneled immediately off hook.
You bring up a good point. Perhaps it's time to start alerting killers when it's not soloq so they can dodge those unfair lobbies as well.

Anti-Camp measure is something we not always had in the game. It's a nice balance addition, when it works, it can save lives. HOWEVER, it only works when the killer stands right in front of your face for a good time, which is, pretty much never. This allows killers to proxy-camp survivors without getting punished for it in anyway, and instead, rewards them. I had a match vs a Spirit who was objectively bad in chases and was learning her playstyle recently, that was obvious. Whenever they got to down someone, they proxy camped them until they reached 2nd hook, this allowed them to get a 4K then harass & intimidate everyone in the EGC. Not specific to this scenario, but lots of other killers benefit from proxy camping while the anti camp measure doesn't do anything to it either, Huntress can stay a bit far, readying her hatchet to insta hit if there's a save. Billy can ready his chainsaw at the same way, Trickster, Nurse on and on. It needs an urgent rework. Mind you during this screenshot, I chased Spirit for three gens. After I got unhooked they managed to end the game with the same amount of gens remaining, thanks to proxy camping.

Why don't you ask them to make a rule like "everytime I get hooked, I expect the killer to run as far away from the hook as possible. In fact, if they don't get to the opposite side of the level I should get my health state back."
You already have anticamp, basekit BT, ton of perks to counter tunneling. Why can't you just practice and get better?

Funny enough, the normal game mode isn’t fair with its 60+% kill rate, otherwise it would be closer to 50%. 2vs8 got a lower kill rate, that still favors killers, but it is a lot more fun, because it feels fairer.
You shouldn’t expect them buffing killers, when there are too many killers and you shouldn’t call something survivor sided when it is not. You are far too used to a killer sided mode, that you believe it is survivor sided when it is actually fair for once.
I just noticed they are even giving survivors the option to restore pallets? AHAHA this game has gotten so ridiculous for survivors. Literally a pallet at every turn, gone are the days of exclusively good looping survivors at high mmr and now we're stuck with terrible players who just run pallet to pallet and call that skill.
Also, setting an arbitrary "rate" is the silliest thing I've ever heard. The game shouldnt be tweaked to ensure 50% wins or whatever on either side. It should be fair, that pallets are dead chase stops after long, tough chases - not a mechical crutch to rely on at every turn. There should be lots of dead zones for survivors.
I only play survivor on occasion and I'm in the top 2-3 in score on every 2x8 - and I have very little experience at survivor! It's just so easy mode.
Unbelievable how entitled you survivors are getting.

It's really not survivor sided when there is a 2nd killer, you just need to co-operate with them, combos and pressure you can apply is really strong :)))
I'm just not seeing it in any of my games tbh. Did 10 games and every second killer Im getting is almost doing worse than me. I think if you cant do the rush killers like nurse and blight you may struggle. I get that there are better survivors than me, no doubt. But this just seems so one sided.

Thanks so much for implementing this system. Presumably this serves as a soft trial for it as well. So if it's deemed successful, please think about rolling it out to the main game mode, with number adjustments obviously.
However I would suggest changing hook/cage states to survivors eliminated, otherwise killers would be penalised for spreading hooks instead of tunneling/camping.
2% per gen completed and 6% increase per survivor eliminated (3 hook states) sounds good.
So basically in addition to having the free 2 gens at the beginning, you need even more of a boost? Please BHVR, terrible idea to make the game more survivor sided.

I noticed it's hit or miss whether I get it, same issue. Thought it was just my connection.

There is much discussion about content creators and how they play. Some are good and most are just miserable. I think we need to be able to see the killers screen name so if it is a content creator NOT a Fogwhisperer we can opt out. 90% play less than desirable and since they won't do anything about these ones that have allowed the toxic game play to go on we should have the option to opt out because of that.
Lets also show when people are SWFing then for the same reason. Im down if both killer name and swfing are revealed.

Are killers main really this dumb?
Are survivor mains this bad? How many more chances do you need? So entitled.
