  • Step 1 make a competitive game

Step 2 make a mmr system that penalizes weaker killers with frequent losses

Step 3 killers all start using higher tiered and better characters and builds

And that right there is a cycle to make what dbd was into a duller game

  • the game always has 31 pallets? since each tile has 1 pallet per tile and 27 tiles, +3 for the detectives room corner, + 1 for the staircase corner

Hawkins has 16 forced spawn pallets, 12 in the rooms, 1 upstairs, 1 in the creep room, 1 behind the staircase on the right, 1 under the staircase on the left, however filler pallets usually average 8-10 so thats around 24-26 pallets as one of the next most pallet maps, too bad only 1-2 of them are good

  • Freddy is good against casuals, for real survivor teams you need real skill backed strong killers, one trick ponies isn't enough to counterbalance

  • Yes

To give up bbq they would need to raise base bp gains or give bbq as base

Personally not an issue to make 3 perk builds bbq is just a good consistent perk that increases bp and gives decent information to speed up the flow of gameplay maybe look for more addon variety's to fill the gap where a 4th perk might be.

Need I say any more? This build is used in almost every game at the higher ranks due to how simple it makes defending the generators. There's no skill or (real) counterplay to this combo. There is counterplay to BBQ, hiding in lockers, but doing that when repairing a generator just wastes precious time. That means there's more chance the killer will get to the generator before it's repaired and ruin all your hard work and effort for no effort or investment at all.

The killer just hooks a survivor (easy enough) and sees everyone's aura, and then they can go to generators being worked on and instantly get rid of 30-40 or more seconds of a generator repair progression, counting the fact it applies normal regression ON TOP OF the massive gen progress decrease. There's nothing the survivor can do about it. It doesn't even have a cool down, so if someone tries to repair the generator to make up for the unavoidable regression loss, the killer can just do it again with no penalty. It literally punishes you for playing well, and I don't know if that's healthy.

I realise this will probably be seen as a joke or bait by the people of this forum, but I'm being serious. This build is used in almost every high rank game - even the Decisive Strike + Unbreakable combo isn't used that often, yet the BBQ+Pop combo is the one ignored. It reeks of hypocrisy to me. Both combos are uncounterable without literally stopping doing your objective. Killers should face the same stigma for running these brainless combos that survivors are given, and I'm sick of this community giving them a free pass.

Tl;dr: Killers are hypocrites for complaining about good survivor perk combos when they use an overpowered and uncounterable perk combo every game. It's the small PP build for killer.

BBQ and Pop are balanced around the fact they are win more perks they reward you for playing the game in exhange for not having a permanent passive effect and only work when you successfully chase, injure, down, and hook a survivor

Pop only reduces gen progress by 25% or 20 seconds of work in one kick and normal gen regression is 0.25 charges / s or in lamens terms every 4 seconds regressing is 1 second you have to work on the gen

But also this combo isn't used as much as you think it is, most killers always run bbq for that sick bp bonus and many killers don't use pop and instead use other gen perks but complaining about 1 perk used 24/7 for bp in combination with 1 common perk is like complaining that a survivor is using sprint burst while using bt two common perks that just happen to be run together

addressing the tldr these perks are both heavily counterable and in comparison to the survivor perks you are comparing little league to MLB while claiming to be the one on the back burner of weak perks

fun counters to pop and bbq to prove my point

Distortion killer can't see you on bbq to know which gen to go to and use pop

Off the record like distortion but activates after being unhooked

Repressed Alliance cant pop the gen if you can't kick the gen

Getting the gen done before the killer gets there, can't pop a completed gen

Spread out on gens, cant pop all 3 of the gens with well spread out teamates

    need I say more

  • I think the cooler change would be that on the last lethal rush getting a hit would refill 2 charges that way you are incentivised to play slower or open yourself up for mistakes while still being rewarded for a risky playstyle, btw iri tag already exists which makes his last token instadown so trivializing an addon would be not a great change plus blight doesn't need instadown basekit

  • I think this would be a good rework for an existing perk so heres my idea for it

No one left behind, you can interact with a downed survivor to put them on your shoulder and carry them at 75% movement speed while carrying them they can recover at 50/60/70% speed, it takes 2 seconds to pick up and put down a survivor, getting hit makes you drop the survivor.

  • depends on the killer but it can win a lot of chases if used right or not played around properly

  • it just depends

both are good options however they are both dangerous to use due to latency

personally I wouldn't recommend using either on normal servers but I can say for sure crossplay off pc has some of the best latency to use both on + it somehow has better queue times than regular servers

but also smash hit can buy you 4.7 seconds stun + break of running which is 24 + 2.8 meters speed burst and not speed burst distance lithe dumb tech can only buy you 10-12 meters of distance

id say the 12-14 meters of extra distance will usually straight up win the chase or best case scenario use a mediocre pallet to win the chase

  • How to play against a newer nurse play unpredictable

How to play against a good nurse use los breakers

How to play against a god nurse, play predictable + use line of sigh breakers

they will be expecting players to use los breakers then play unpredictable so turn the tables by playing in a predictable fashion and they might outplay themselves

    that and or stealth

7.5 seconds isnt punishing the killer for missing with victor i think a solid 10-15 seconds would be fair.

you're right person who necroed this 3 months later, and when you're right you're right, and you, you're always right

  • Brightness of the screen is at ones own digression, usually before you put filters check your monitor settings to see if you can increase brightness there first

  • causes clipping issues, killers used to be able to mash their faces into walls and corners to see through with their old 90° fov so it was decreased to 87° to mitigate the problem

  • Most people aren't really caring about how bad a console killer is because we understand their limitations the thing we don't understand is console survivors

they have the same tools a control scheme that doesn't limit them like a killer is limited by controller but they just seem, accident prone going down faster in chase then if they just ran in a straight line, wasting resources at breakneck speeds and abandoning them to go down anyway making the map barren wastelands while giving killers a ton of pressure, I had a game where against a legion I had a longer chase in my one chase then all my teammates had combined 9 chases to 1 chase by me, and mine was longer than theirs combined with 1 window and 2 pallets

while id like to say they are as skilled at the end of the day on average they are a more casual part of the player base, as with everything this has its outliers but its still an audible sigh when I queue up for a survivor match every now and then and see 3 console players as teamates because I don't expect much from them because so many manage to undermine my expectations. Still nice when I get decent ones or face decent ones as killer and survivor but they are so few and far between

  • On paper interesting idea, In practice mountain of code and infuriating design

170 perks, x 5 side grades each, = 850 total sidegrades between both sides that need to be coded into the game

not only that but any combination of those 5 sidegrades working together with any other combination of 10-15 more sidegrades from your other perks in addition to the perks themselves

that's 19 individual perks and modifiers on those perks per player, which is just way too much considering there are 58599024 perk combinations in this game for survivor alone

even if all of the sidegrades were on 3 perks only there would still be 12657389184 odd combinations for each survivor alone and someone has to write code to make sure it all works together and if a single combination breaks everything either codewise or balance wise it would probably be a mess to fix or make a system to fix it

Not really any build synergy between perks

idea for a change to get more use out of off the record switch out premonition for object of obsession 80 seconds of killer aura reading off each hook isn't half bad for solo queue and its really good for swf

Cursed Treasure is a lot like a pirate perk I designed a while back

    Dead Man's Chest

Any Survivor that interacts with a chest will scream and reveal their location to the Killer. They will also be affected by the Exposed status effect as long as they are unlocking the chest, This effect persists for 10/15/20 seconds after unlocking/stopping to unlock a chest.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/215933/my-killer-concepts-soldier-and-pirate#latest

Its also like the other perk I designed on the design you own perk discussion that was pinned 6 months ago, trapped chests are a pretty common perk idea right now

Ok then calm down I was just expressing my concerns for something no need to be rude. I just thought at first they didn't have any downsides because being able to see auras is the most powerful tracking in the game.

I understand that from an outside perspective they might not have any downsides but looking at one side of the picture isn't how you see the whole thing sometimes the best way to understand something is to take a step back and take in the big picture

I'm Not concerned with killers reading my aura I'm more concerned with the fact that the addons take little effort to achieve which is concerning since aura reads are really powerful. And the counters survivors have aren't that good, sole survivor requires that your teammates dies in order to use its effects. Distortion had only 3 limted uses and doesn't stop the killer from putting on multiple aura reading perks with thr addons to take away your tokens and off the record only have its effects every time your hooked meaning you can only use it twice.

So what that the addons are easy to use

are we supposed to sudden jump through 99 hoops for a simple effect

    look at it this way

when wraith has aura reading he is in his power and physically cannot attack you giving you an opportunity to get away so 12 meters aura reading on that is reasonable for a purple addon

when blight is rushing you have to move fast before the survivor gets to something so either way if given information you either can be fast enough to act on it or look at it too long and slow yourself down missing hits so in a way he becomes even more skill based

when pig is crouched I'm gonna stop this one here no one uses pigs aura reading addon

when oni gives up and entire build and using his power for aura reading on top of needing a iridecent addon to do so its fine because he is still a m1 115% speed killer for the rest of the match then

plagues one is really the only one that should be nerfed

huntresses one is fun but most people never use it

myers one is fine but no one really uses them except for scratched mirror even then 105% speed isn't fun

doctor has to pay attention to white auras around the map or doesn't even get any use of it

hag just gets them on her traps at the cost of an addon slot which is a lot for a killer that has, mint rag, silent traps, faster setting traps, and more trap teleport range all at her disposal so its for example giving up an additional 25% teleport range for slightly more consistent trap hits or hook camps

cannibal is back revving with his addon only

freddy is dream pallet auras only which isn't that useful since no one really disarms dream pallets

clown is clown and needs it because its a little bit of help

    legion can read gens spooky

demo can read injured survivors auras well traversing, other than the fact he can't freely look around and people rarely use the portals this is op op

ghostface caught on tape is alright especially if you down someone while undetectable it just reveals everyone

deathslingers hellshire iron has never been used by anyone who plays deathslinger as far as I have seen

executioner can use their addon they would never trade out because they are too busy using ranged addons to see survivors who are tormented when they send a tormented survivor to a cage

twins need all the help they can get

overall 4-5 addons pretty easy to use and 1 of them that is blatantly strong and needs to be looked at so why don't you make a informed analysis of that one instead of making an uninformed blanketed statement towards a fair subset of addons that make the game more interesting or would you rather killers all have a blindness addon or hemorrhage addons instead

  • the addons are fine and survivors don't have aura reading items on killer they have aura reading perks

if you really don't like killers ability to see auras just use perks like

    alert

    kindred + open handed

    object of obsession

    dark sense

    babysitter

    breakdown

    or even counter with

    sole survivor

    distortion

    off the record

but the killer does have to give up entire addon slots just to use aura reading and sometimes even more detrimental then giving up a slot like oni the aura reading addon even has downsides such that he can only use his power 1 - 2 times a game

  • there already are free chapters, nurse and huntress

As I stated in the post, his addons were crutches. They are now fixed. Granted, I agree some of them are near useless but that doesnt change the fact that at base, hes still A tier easily. And again, in the post i stated that the heat is a laughable mechanic for anyone with competence. No one whos any good at all will ever overheat.

I haven't overheated as billy however my poor ears have removed him entirely from wanting to play him on a consistant basis

revving the chainsaw has gone from a normal sound to high pitched screeching at high heat followed by a roar

and crutches is a bit of an overstatement for 3 addons that needed to be changed

however they removed all of the simple upgrade addons such as his cooldown addons

  • They just made him boring, having to micromanage heat at new factors while taking his best addons away giving half meme trash back and the other half decent but no where near what he once was

he just became a shell of his former self and the fun you could have with him

no more tinkerer + double charge addons instasaw

no more cooldown addons because exiting your power too fast isn't allowed I guess

    + whatever black greese is

  • Blight is fun enough that winning becomes the secondary objective after a certain period of time

some still want to win though so that doesn't mean all settle for that

  • False, oni and plauge can do the same

just learn from mistakes and don't group up so the killer can't down multiple people at once like that

its not the games fault on this one its yours, and while things can change to suit the individual this one is unlikely so you have to be the one to change instead

  • @Peanits said:

We review each case before we take any action. In cases where we have any doubt, we do not ban. From what you've described, it sounds like you weren't working with the survivor, but rather that one survivor sold out the other. You didn't do anything wrong there.

but do players get banned on single case basis or is it only if they get reported a decent amount in a short period before you investigate if need be

  • @Superyoshiegg said:

Can't ignore all the BS Survivors had to deal with as well.

    • Killers blocking entrance/exit to the basement, because the stairs were thinner back then. Could hold the game hostage indefinitely because there was no End Game Collapse.
    • Nurse originally having three blinks by default, could increase it to seven with add-ons, and she moved at the full 115% movement speed.
    • Memento Mori's could take a Survivor out of the game after a single down.
    • The Machine Gun build (Unrelenting + Save the Best for Last) was utterly broken beyond belief.
    • Actual, genuine facecamping was a thing. It was quite literally impossible to save someone being facecamped, because the unhook prompt wouldn't show up.
    • The Trapper could put traps directly underneath a hooked player, and could stack traps onto other traps at that. It was impossible to save someone with a trap underneath unless you had several Survivors working together to disarm them while someone else unhooks.
    • NOED was permanent once activated, with no way to disable it nor was it on a timer.

I don't want to come off as a case of 'whataboutism', but you did neglect to mention a single thing that Killers had going for them (and they had quite a lot indeed).

well there was the issue of oceans of pallets, double pallet double window jungle gyms, stacking exhaustion perks with no universal cooldown as well as full cooldown while running, base gen speed being shorter, base heal speed being shorter, and overall survivors having much better tiles / windows to work with such as wrenched shop with 4 open windows, bus with double window double pallet, cow tree that was just 2 windows in a circle with no entity blocker and blood lust, 3 second killer vault time, its a wonder this game didn't die out right then and there

and although things seemed a little bad for survivors in all that you have to remember that it took 3 months before nurse was added so killers had to deal with this for 3 months before they got their biggest way to fight back

  • you don't ignore it, you laugh at it and make it into a funny thing

teamates urban evading around the map put on your best animal documentary voice and narrate them

survivors being toxic just bonk them on the head and flourish after you down them like do a little dance or spin a bit

if you aren't trying to put a positive spin on things nothing else will

    so if you play

    Wraith, Pig, Myers, Ghostface, Deathslinger

    or

Blight, Billy, Nurse, Spirit, Oni, Freddy (kinda)

Its a good - ok perk, but there are usually always better options it just depends on your playstyle what you pair it with or if you are just using variety for variety sake

overall on the other 14 killers its not that good but on those 9 it can be a decent option for build fun and variety

You don't enjoy your pile enough

I have 300 rings and 150 black wards on blight which is 2,700,000 bp worth of horde and I couldn't be prouder

  • Yea its a pretty fun one to get, but there are ways to cheese it

Step 1 place a survivor on a hook on a hill

Step 2 stand back 24 meters

Step 3 down the survivor as they get saved, or the survivor saving them (only if they are injured because its downs at a range) or if you bring iri head just down anyone

Step 4 repeat until you feel a sense of pride and accomplishment

This is cheat almost equal to a hack because it gives unfair advantage that nobody can traditionally acquire.

Whats an interesting about these particular types of hacks/cheats is that they're form of rebellion against current authority. Its not exclusive to one side either. Survivors that use Stretch Res(1080x1080 resolution) which is non-native resolution do so because their objective is to expand their field of view so that killers have even less of a chance to mindgame at loops. Its same thing for people brighten the red glow.

In this case, Its the killer rebelling against their lunge angle and finding a cheat through hardware to increase it further. I remember a time where killers could hear survivors across walls with perfect volume within the game until Spirit came into the game and now all the volume in the chase is completely drowned out by the chase music. As for why people do this, Its like prohibition of alcohol in America in 1930's. Government make a law to prohibit alcohol, people break the law and go to jail, eventually everyone breaks the law and eventually the law dissolves itself. In games, you either fix the hack or you ban people for using it by putting some tracker where the server just disconnects+ban you or you change the base game such way it does not affect the game. For spirit, they lower the volume of survivors while in a chase so that music covers it up, but most spirit drop the chase on purpose so they can hear the survivors footsteps, grass movements, grunts of pain etc.

In the end, they might not do anything for Blight because say 100,000 people play blight worldwide, if only top 200 blight uses it, its small percentage of games. Killers are suppose to be threat in a chase and imposing strange regulations to limit their performance is an odd way to balance a killer. Its like imagine if Nurse could only lunge 90 degree's after performing a chain blink. Its just stupid. you could probably still escape a 270 degree turning blight but he'll be stronger in a chase than other blights.

so its like the top percentage of ratata but instead of ratata its blight

  • Change the layout of the map

houses no longer have a backyard as they are all pushed up against a wall there are still openings on the sides of the houses (even closed) so you are never cornered house of pain is the only one with a backyard

total of 3 houses open (2 not including strode house) total of 15 pallets max and minimum on the map

strode house has 1 upstairs window only on the front and 1 window for the basement

house of pain can never spawn with windows at the top of staircases or falling into staircases

house with double upstairs windows and doorways has no other windows open ever

houses with garage pallet always have pallet spawn and have only 1 window in the house that is right above the front entrance

gen spawns are 3 in houses and 4 randomly split between the open yards either at the top of them or at the bottom in the street

    fences are removed

exit gates always spawn opposite of each other aka if one is on the top of the map the other is on the bottom and vice versa

windows in the map drop to a total of 5 pallet count is at 15 (8 garenteed on the bottom)(4 in the street)(3 at the top 2 of them are extremely strong to compensate)

That perk idea is really strange because it sounds like the first SWF exclusive perk because it requires other people to run it to be used in the first place. If you brought it in solo queue and no one else had it, it would go to waste.

yea, its a risky to use perk in solo queue

  • Healthier design would be

    All For One

You cannot be killed or sacrificed until all Survivors in the trial with this perk have at least one hook state as long as you are saved before the timer runs down

if you are hooked while not all survivors have at least one hook state take a hook state from one of the other survivors with this perk equipped that haven't been hooked yet and repeat stage 2 (can still die if timer runs out)

you can take up to 1/2/3 hook states from teamates

if all survivors have been hooked at least once this perk deactivates

"What do you think you're doing? My friends still need me, and I need them."

no immortality because claudette is hiding in a corn field instead swipe her hook state from her

basically can force 1 survivor to have 5 hook states before dying

Again, all of that was meant to be part of DH. It's not abuse if it was intended.

DH requires timing and nuance. It also requires that they actually be in a decent loop, and beyond that, that they are actually capable of looping. Any idiot can press E, just as how many idiot can lunge. There is nuance to it.

Plus, that opens the door for survivors getting mad at you for running haunted grounds. You don't even have to do anything; just wait for survivors to get totem-horny and you've got everybody exposed, op toxic cheap trash baby killer im quitting the game

I don't think all of this was intended I think most of it was just how it ended up, which is easily abusable and versatile

and when I say easily I am refering to the fact it requires little to no skill to use much like how survivors think spirit takes little to no skill to use, thats right im calling dead hard the spirit of survivor perks

Don't worry I don't run haunted grounds so I don't have anything to worry about that second part

  • @aEONoHM said:

Yeah, sorry killer mains. Dead Hard is not powerful enough to warrant a nerf. You only hate it in the hands of competent survivors, but then competent survivors know how to maximize the usage of each of the exhaustion perks.

Aim at something that actually needs a nerf. Although with OoO and DS being spanked a bit I'm not sure what that leaves you to gun for. Or is that why DH is on the menu now?

but it is powerful enough to warrant a nerf because the devs have shown they will make changes for the health of the game so we have gone from tumor a to tumor b which wasn't as big as tumor a but as tumor a is no longer there its a better one to set our sights on now

It is four. No one runs bookmark. Also I was talking about basekit.

but im not talking about basekit which is the disconnect and we are both right in our own words and wrong in each others, this is just lose/lose or win/win situation according to our viewpoints and the view points of the other

    so heres the ultimate question

are we both losers in this situation

    or both winners

  • @ShamelessPigMain said:

You are confusing "abuse" for functionality. The entire purpose of dead hard is to be a second chance evasion. Imagine people getting salty for running make your choice; it abuses the system by denying the survivor dead hard but still getting them down, cheap ez toxic way too OP nerf when im quitting the game and starting a petition to ban make your choice and whoever made it should be executed

Dead hard has easy counters. #1, don't swing and bait it out. If it's being used for the I-frames, this is easy to manipulate. If it's being used to gain distance, too bad. That's the point of exhaustion perks; to gain distance within a chase. You can't get mad at survivors for wanting to extend chase when they have the chance, just as they can't get mad at us for running expose perks and cutting the chase short.

Alright thats a very confusing post but heres the thing, functionality is how it works, it works by doing a short dash with I-frames thats the simple part

the hard part is how abusable that is thus a list of ways to abuse it not functionalities of the perk

thing about the counters, cant really counter a lot of uses to it

dh over a trap cant counter it

dh through a post blink lunge the distance itself is usually enough to make the nurse miss or have to fatigue anyway

dh through a shred? they already committed to an obvious animation with a 2.5 second cooldown regardless go for it

im not refering to all the situations where dh can be used at the end of a chase to bait a swing to make enough distance and keep going im listing all the literal soft and hard counters this perk produces by existing

and yes I can get mad at survivors when they extend a chase when they messed up by pressing a single button because thats literally the definition of a second chance that they have on a cooldown

  • max implies there is nothing above it bookmark increases max, cannot in good conscience say its 4

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/232849/why-killers-dislike-dead-hard

Nurse main here. Nurse can't go through 5 seconds of fatigue. One blink is 2.5 seconds. Two blinks is 3 seconds. Two blinks and a swing(doesn't matter if it hits) is 4 seconds. Anyways though, I'm just nitpicking. Overall I agree with your post.

three blinks and a swing = 4.5 seconds rounding to the proper number of sig figs due to the lowest value only having one sig fig the answer would have 1 sig fig so its 5 take it or leave it
