No. That's a stupid mischaracterization of my post. Can you repeat to me what I said the problem is? Hint, it's not killswitching.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3120045#Comment_3120045

    Dead Dawg Saloon. Totem issue.

    Yam Estate. Totem issue.

     Memorial Institute. Totem issue.

    The Game. Totem issue.

    Nurse. stun lock yourself.

Feng Min Goddess of War outfit. Crashes.

These are just a couple within the last few months. Keep in mind the kill switch has been out for less than a year.

Hint it happens every patch here is a hint for you a game like this no matter how much internal testing they do for bug etc before a patch when it drops there is bound to be some as they might have 10 people testing compared to 30k when it drops and even the ptb won't pick up every bug as people use that to test the new killer etc and miss things like where a totem might spawn, you have consoles playing it who can't test the ptb, some people try it for a day then stop.

So my point still stands i knew a game even though there was over a 100 of us testing it for weeks and no problems when it launched no one could launch into a match, every time they add something new to the game the code will change so one thing might bug something else out in the game hence the need for a kill switch so if it makes it to like they can killswitch it and not have one side suffer for weeks.

It has nothing to do with the devs incompetence its just how things work in games like this and even other games things will be put on hold till they can fix a problem if its game breaking enough, so if the devs want to keep people like you happy they could go to a couple patches a year or keep the amount there doing and killswitch any major bugs till fixed.

  • @Basement_Bubba420 said:

Has there ever been a patch where something wasn't killswitched?

Seems like every patch something is getting kill switched. What's with all this incompetence?

Would you rather them not killswitch things and leave the problem alone while they try to fix it, think how many clown killers you would of seen if they didn't killswitch him and then survivors coming in here and posting its not fair and a exploit to play him, being able to killswitch a problem means players on both sides can't abuse it while they fix it and if they killswitch something each patch great it means they know its a major bug and are stopping people from abusing it.

A lot of killers are still slugging at 5 gens, camping, tunneling. The game is very rigged against survivors at the moment due to so many survivor nerfs, hence the dissatisfaction.

The game should be fair and balanced, not be a power fantasy for a killer.

games like this a asymmetric type i.e 1v4 or 1v8 the 1 is meant to be a bit stronger then the 4 to give them a chance as the 4 have more perks and items to help them to win plus teammates if your injured they can heal you a killer has no help they don't have someone come hook a survivor for them.

If you think this game as bad go play F13th game and see what it like when you die in the first 30sec to a 1min and thats it you don't come back your dead, this game you have 3 hook stages, perks to help you and items.

It obviously is an excuse for survivors to DC, because they are doing it and saying that this is the reason they are doing it. Either you can figure out how to solve those issues or just blame the survivors. I don't see how you will fix the issues by blaming the survivors.

I don't know anything about this breakdown bug, so can't respond

The breakdown bug happened last year i think if you had the perk equipped instead of breaking the hook and it coming back after 3 min i think they were gone for the rest of the match so if you doubled hook everyone then you would be down 8 hooks, survivors abused that perk but killers didn't DC over it they kept playing the match till the end and if needed they let the survivors bleed out, So not only a game breaking bug but one that made matches very boring and not any fun for the killer.

So survivors DC because the game got a bit harder but not game breaking, still able to escape and still can loop the killer sorry but there is no good reason for survivors to DC they are just not used to being the power role which is meant to be the killer the days of any one wanting to bully the killer are gone, if they can't handle this then they need to move on to a more easy game and not have people like you defending people that DC for no good reason.

Can you honestly tell me there is a task as mundane as repairing generators that the killers do? There simply isn't. Repairing generators is hands down the most boring part of the game, whether on the killer side or the survivor side. I really beg you to answer me whether you can give me a comparison of another more tedious task

Which still gives no reason to DC survivors know repairing gens is the main part of the game for them if they don't then this isn't the game for them and one could say playing trapper is just as bad always having to pick up traps to use them trust me that gets old very quick but they don't let him start with them all you have to travel the map to get them.

  • @Carnivorone said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3118851#Comment_3118851

Obviously not as much as when a survivor DC's. And if there was a sudden influx of killers DC'ing coincidentally at the same time as a major update dropped which made the update unfair for killers, then sure I would still blame the game

Survivors DC just because the game got a bit harder is no excuse to DC, do you remember the breakdown bug that happened did you see killers DC like you did after the last major update, not only did survivors abuse the bug but killers kept playing even though it was a game breaking bug they didn't just DC like survivors.

So explain that why 1 side was able to keep playing even though there was a game breaking bug but the other side DC cause the game got a bit harder.

  • @Carnivorone said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3118537#Comment_3118537

What are you even on about? I don't care about any of that. I care that the game has been made more boring by increasing gen times. At least all of that killer stuff sounds fun. It's not staring at a progression bar for one minute and 30 seconds straight. Jesus, it's all just about winning and losing to you people. I'm talking about what makes a game fun!

It does not make a game fun to stare at a progression bar for a minute and a half! What don't you people understand about that!? You're all just obsessed with wins and losses

And when was the last time survivors thought about the killer and how much fun they are having each match a lot less then killers do thinking about survivors.

  • @Carnivorone said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3118556#Comment_3118556

A killer DC'ing doesn't ruin the game. You just start a new one no problem

The killer ruined the game for the other 4 players by DC they all could of lost BPS and a good item because the killer DC why are you trying so hard to defend people that DC.

  • @Carnivorone said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3118796#Comment_3118796

You're not understanding me. Obviously it sucks when it suddenly becomes a 3 v 1, but how on earth can you blame the DC'er when so many changes have been made to the game which make it intolerable?

You can only blame the individuals doing it so much before it clearly becomes a problem with the game itself. That's just logic

Because that person made the choice to DC if they know that there is problems with the game not making it fun to play or major bugs then they shouldn't play the game till those problems are fixed, soon as they hit the ready button they know all the problems the game might have, not being fun and maybe getting a killer they don't like and they are accepting all of that by hitting ready. If they don't like that stuff don't hit that button then DC because a killer downed you first and you wanted to cry and DC, would say the same thing if a killer DC because the first 2 gens pop to fast that its ok and its a problem with the game?

  • @Carnivorone said:

I used to blame Dc'ers. When I played in Swf's, I would instantly stop talking to a teammate if they ever quit mid-match and remove them as a friend. They would complain that the game was now too killer-sided with the new update and I would just pass this off as whining and bad sportsmanship.

Problem is, survivors are DC'ing for a reason. The latest update was hard on survivors. It actively sought to make the game more boring for them by increasing generator time.

It doesn't make sense to blame people for not doing generators when generator time has increased. It doesn't make sense to blame solo queue teammates when survivor perks have been nerfed. It doesn't make sense to blame people for quitting when the game has become completely unplayable and not fun at all for them.

So its the dev fault that someone got down first before the first gen popped by ghost face causing them to DC what other reason is there for them to DC, the only time that its ok to DC is if its a real life emergency when you hit that ready button your committing to the match and playing it not to DC for stupid reasons.

How long did killers have it rough at times but didn't DC and played out the match as best they could like when the breakdown perk bug happened causing hooks not to come back, survivors abused it and killers stuck out the match they didn't DC but a survivor goes down first and must be a reason for them to DC.

I was playing ghost face the other day and someone with a flashlight tried to out play me and lost and DC when i went to pick them up, even another survivor in endgame couldn't work out why they DC just because they lost the mindgame. Only 1 person to blame for a DC and that the person that did it not the devs, not the killer and not your teammates.

It was already a powerful perk before the recent buff, particularly on Nurse and Blight. Now I’d argue it’s so good that you’re handicapping yourself by not using it. I’ve been using Distortion to counter it, but it doesn’t do much when I spawn next to other Survivors who don’t have it.

What do you think? Did Lethal Pursuer really need a buff when there are plenty of weaker perks that need some love?

P.S. shout-out to you Nurse players using Midwich offerings + Lethal and basically winning the match in 10 seconds.

It's fine as it is as the main part of the perk is done after 9 seconds which is what most killers use it for is to see where survivors spawned, the +2 sec buff is really not that great or to be worried about, if they added it to the main reason for it so 11 sec at tier 3 then i could agree that is was over-tuned.

The average survivor does not want to bully the killer, they just want to have fun playing the game, just like you. I'm so tired of this argument.

i didn't say the average survivor wants to bully i just asked what is fun for a survivor and to bully the killer is one of them, i know plenty of survivors that enjoy the chase over everything else

  • @Piruluk said:

DbD has a really big casual playerbase, since the recent changes this part of the playerbase struggling with playing the survivor role.

For a casual, if he doesn't have fun, the solution is to DC. In their mind if the game isn't fun to play, its better to move on next.

This will be a short term problem only, most of them will either switch to play killer or they will turn to cheating to have fun again.

Bigger and longer penalty is undesirable because that could mean playerbase loss in the future.

I expect DC numbers going down, however will have shortage of survivors and those who stay will resort to cheating(already happening both from what I have seen on streams)

Survivors just have to learn to wait this out till the devs have enough info to know what needs changing, DC over a match is not going to help them get the info they need any faster, Killers have had to go though the same thing to both sides have and after a while the devs will make changes.

What is fun to a survivor is it being able to bully the killer as much as you can, chases or getting out. If its being able to bully the killer that gives them no right to DC because they are upset they can no longer bully the killer.

Okay, i took your advice, and changed the post, now there can't be any misunderstanding.

I will admit that there are issues with just implementing a vc, as with anything, so the solution i thought of in one of my comments is to add both a vc and a scroll wheel, this would fix the problem with streamers not getting any information out of other players.

I just want to emphasize that my post wasn't necessarily about being able to relay information to other players, I tried to emphasize other points such as how we would be able to teach newer players what and what not do, some may be toxic towards other players, sure, but I would say that even being extremely rude to the claudette not doing gens, and telling her "you fricking dummy, if you don't do gens we're gonna lose the game" (obviously not cussing because of mods) is a lot better than what we have right now, and is also better than what any "scroll wheel" or pre-made line of text will ever do for them.

I'm just saying that if a vc was added into the game, soooo many problems would be fixed, newer players would find footing, we'd be able to tell each other what perks we have, like deliverance, autodidact, flip flop, power struggle and the list goes on. I also don't see how the other teammates knowing what percent a gen is at is really going to help, yea, ig the information is nice but what is that really going to do for you? How will you be able to act on this information, Ig if the gen is 99'd, people know to go to that gen, but thats really the only thing, but for a vc, the list goes on and on.

The way i would do it is if someone pings saying that the gen is at 90% it gives a sound and image notification letting the other players which gen is close to being done they don't have to go looking for it.

The problem isn't that you pointed out something that was wrong, it was that I already clarified the problem for you, im sorry i made a mistake with my wording, but at this point you should know what I was trying to say in my post, why aren't you talking about what you think about the idea now that its been clarified? I know why, you feel butthurt because I insulted you, so you have to defend your stupid claim that was already addressed so you can feel better about yourself, bozo.

Also you know why BHVR never considered put it in, because they never cared for 6 years, now they care more than ever and its up to the players to make suggestions that will add to the health of the game, and if you think a scroll wheel will do more than a vc you are mistaken

Why am i butthurt over pointing out something you said in your OP which allowed you to go back and fix/change it so future people that read this topic there will be no misunderstanding of what your trying to say?

I'm pretty sure BHVR has thought about putting VC in at some point into the game and must of had reasons not to put it in, there is couple reasons why a scroll wheel would work better then VC 1'st is your not having people say racial slurs among other things on VC now this might not be a problem for a lot of people but it will be for streamers and there is a fair few that stream DBD, one could say just turn VC off but then they are missing the reason behind VC and that is info from other players,

2nd is with a scroll wheel there can be a lot of options in it and also give the ability for survivors to change what's on it, i.e one on the default ones could be "gen at 50%" but you might want to swap the to "gen at 75?. You could even assign hot keys for them so with out bring up the wheel you could hit i. 5 and it will say "gen at 90%"

  • @rvzrvzrvz said:

wow good idea if you want 20 min queues, what they should do is revert some of these horrible changes like DS and self care, not ruining the game even more

If they are going to revert the changes or buff/nerf them then they need time to get the data and see how the new changes affect the game, people DC or killing themselves on first hook is just going to make it take longer to do any changes. It might suck for one side at the moment but over the 6 years it goes back and forth, take mori when they got nerfed it sucked for killer big time as all they saw was keys on every survivor.

If survivors REALLY want changes done be it buffs/nerfs or they revert some changes then they nee to play the game and not just DC thats not giving any helpful info to the devs.

dude, are you here to debate about adding vc to DBD or misunderstandings in word usage? Sure, maybe what I said originally in the post may have been a little misleading, so I clarified it for you, and instead of taking what I said and trying to think of something productive, you sit there and and point out a slight mistake in my post that I ALREADY CLARIFIED FOR YOU. Maybe debates in forums is too grown up for you.

You said something in a post and i just pointed out to you that you were wrong and that you had said something different in your OP, so there is no blame or fault on my end when i copied word for word what you said.

Me and many others in this discussion have pointed out many flaws with what your suggestion and other ways that to solo survivor's to communicate in the game and

If VC is simple and most effective then why have they not put it in the game they have had 6 years to add VC so there must be a reason why BHVR hasn't put it in, the better way would be a icon next to you name plus brief description of what your doing i.e working on get, in chase, going for save. Then you have the wheel you can bring up and tell people what to dp.

OMG, okay, when i say the killer cant chat, I mean they can't talk OR hear the survivors, does that change anything for you?

Adding a vc would not only fix the problem with solo Q, it might also add to the health of the game in general.

"First of all, I just want to clarify that a vc like discord might be a bit overpowered for solo queue, I think the best solution to this is making a proximity chat instead. And also the Killer shouldn't be able to communicate with the survivors, THAT would be toxic, but maybe disable vc when in TR or something idk."

That was from your first post about this topic you can see that you have put killers shouldn't be able to communicate with survivor's.

Clearly it isn't a valid strategy if the devs acknowledged it as a problem in the last developer update (despite failing to actually do anything about it)

It's still a valid strategy as there will be times you need to camp, what they are trying to do is give survivors a chance to save the person on the hook and not have Bubba ready to down everybody with no counter

And i will admit that i play killer 90% of the time and that camping a hook needs to be looked at to at least give survivors a chance to get the save.

If you actually read the post you would have seen that i suggested that killers can't chat, THAT would be toxic and dumb, maybe instead surv VC will disable within TR or something

I did read the post and making it so killers can't talk to survivors makes the idea even worse as the killer could have all 4 survivors around them and being toxic, racial slurs, told to end themselves etc, They want proof when you put in a report so if your not recording well then tuff lick thats why some games don't have VC and for the added bonus of someone telling the team whats going on.

If its screaming kids and 25 year old men you are afraid of... guess what? You have the ability to........ [TURN IT OFF]

It's not so much the screaming but more about what they say while screaming that's the issue, if your trying to chase a survivor and all you can hear is 2 people yelling at each other then there goes any chance of being able to hear sounds from the survivor you just chased.

  • @SnRw said:

    Solo Queue is a problem

Solo Queue right now is the weakest side of the game atm, originally you had to deal with incompetent survivors who are either new, or misguided players who may think they know or who may not know what they are doing.  Now however, you have to deal with the recent killer buffs stacked on top of that.

Many people (including Dowsey and Scottjund) have recently posted videos stating the fact that solo queue survivor in the state it's in right now is the biggest problem in Dead by Daylight, Dowsey gave his idea of what kind of buffs solo queue should get in order to fix this problem, which are his own idea, not gonna go into it, but the main takeaway that I 100% agree with is that the only way to fix this problem is to provide the same level of cooperation that you would get with a discord swf, and bring it to the game.

What if I told you there’s a simple change that could fix all of these problems with one single added mechanic?

Well… it exists, and it’s probably what you’d expect.

The Best solution to the Problem

The solution to this problem is a voice-chat system

Don’t click away just yet! I know it sounds foreign adding vc to DBD, However if you consider the hidden benefits the game would receive from this implementation, you might be on board with the idea.

Adding a vc would not only fix the problem with solo Q, it might also add to the health of the game in general.

First of all, I just want to clarify that a vc like discord might be a bit overpowered for solo queue, I think the best solution to this is making a proximity chat instead.

    1. Think of how many times you’ve solo queued in dbd and come across a Claudette hiding in a bush, a David unhooking you when the killer is right next to you, or a Dwight who is completely clueless and doesn’t know what to do.

Not only would a proximity chat allow you to make the game more survivable, it would also help these new players get into the swing of things, and feel more comfortable playing the game, adding to the overall health of DBD.

    1. When a trapper has set a trap near your hooked body and the Nea coming to rescue you is on a direct course to step on the trap

In this situation, the only thing you need to do is warn the survivor that there is a trap, but you simply cannot.  Adding a proximity chat would help survivors learn to be more aware of killers power within the game, and avoid stepping into a trap that would more than likely put the game in jeopardy.

    1. Think of the times where you had a perk such as deliverance, or the “try to hook me build” (flip-flop, boil over, unbreakable), but the survivors you were playing with had no idea, so you try to use these perks against the killer, they try to unhook you when they could be doing a gen, they don’t body block for you because the hook seems too close. Ultimately, these perks become useless and get no value in many situations.

If you were able to just simply tell a survivor next to you, or while you’re on the hook, what build you are running, not only would new survivors be able to learn about different perks in the game and what they do, it would allow for a plethora of coordination where originally it would be absent.  Also the argument that you could tell people before the game is kind of dumb, as there are so many inconsistent variables, such as, they may be a console player, or they are afk and not looking at the screen.

    The Immersion

One problem with a vc that some people may have, is that it might ruin the “horror” aspect of the game, but here's the thing, players can choose to turn it off if they wish to experience the horror. The thing you also have to remember is that most of the time, people don’t want to deal with new players who don’t know what they’re doing, or players who are misguided or don’t know something, with this proximity chat, people can CHOOSE themselves if they want to keep dealing with infuriating clueless survivors, or not.

Also can we just be real for a sec and admit that no one who plays this game on the regular is ever immersed? Like EVER?

    Yea… no

    Toxicity

If you play survivor you might tend to think that a prox chat would increase toxicity within games, I however, completely disagree and believe it would help reduce toxicity within games. Please read below to see what I mean.

First to clarify I want this to be addressed to a average survivor, you know the people who might be really good and nice survivors in one match, but also salty and toxic in another (you know, normal humans), as this is the majority of players in dbd. What you shouldn't do is compare what I'm about to say to players who are ALWAYS toxic and no matter what will always be unhappy and pissed off because they suck. On to my point.

First of all, I want to say that if a prox chat was added, a lot of people would already stop being toxic, because if you think about it, more people are comfortable talking ######### through line of text, rather than through actual word of mouth, with the addition of a prox chat, many people will be kinder to others purely because that's how people work socially.

Second and lastly, I want to address what causes toxicity in DBD, this toxicity imo is a lack of communication, in the game right now, when you have a couple teammates who are kind of bad and are a little lost on what to do, you have to deal with it. This alone causes infuriating games to play, and is what I believe to be the main cause of toxicity atm. Adding a vc would COMPLETELY change everything, because once survivors gain the ability to effectively communicate, they can get out what they need to say in the moment to tell survivors what to do, rather than having to bottle it up, watch the survivor go down, and add it the pile of rage they plan on unleashing at endgame chat.

    Conclusion

I believe that many people are not for this change because it feels foreign to add something like to this to a game of dbd where the concept of a vc was never discussed, mostly because it was never needed. But now I'd like to say IT IS needed, and people need to start talking about implementing it. Dowsey gave his ideas about implementing a system that floods the screen with a bunch of text bubbles and hud changes, let me tell you, adding a vc is way more simple and way WAY more effective. It teaches new players how to play the game, some perks that were once useless on solo q will now have a purpose, and IMO will help reduce toxicity in games.

    P.S.

Many of my friends who play on console played this game one time, they said it was fun and liked playing it, so I asked them, “Why don’t you keep playing it?”, the answer is always something along the lines of “oh, there's no way to talk to people” I truly believe that if players were able to talk to each other it would bring a surplus of new and interested players into the game.

Please comment below whether you agree or disagree with a proximity chat, I would love to hear different opinions on this and see if this idea can go anywhere.

I will have to say no to prox chat for a few reasons, games that have it or had it a lor off times you will someone screaming and telling you what to do and its not a i.e 25 year old person al of times it was some in the 10-20 range, take F13th for example it had voice chat and the amount of kids i ran into that were screaming all the time and called me and the other player a lot cursed words and even racial ones.

Also streamer's will need a option to lower or turn it off to protect there stream for people yelling stuff that is against TOS like Kingcarl2012 Some kind of ping system or quickchat option and icons showing what you are doing would probably be better and it will be.

What if they made it so other endurance effects arent effected by base BT and increase base BT to 7 seconds.

So lets say some one gets off the hook and the killer hits them right as they get on the ground ie, no way to avoid it. This doesnt feel fair game play wise and it doesnt feel fair that this unavoidable hit deactivates both BT AND OTR.

Instead of that being the end of the survivors protections, what if they made it so if the survivor has OTR or any other endurance effect going, those would be intact.

This would be a single exception to endurance stacking. It feels like it makes sense imo. Tunneling shouldnt be this easy and i think the idea behind OTR was for it to be a safety net after the base BT.

I have a more simple one survivors need to wait till the killer has left then do the unhook, Not trying to be rude but when i play killer about 75%+ survivors will unhook while I'm still there and i haven't even walked 5 steps away. Now if i go after the injured one that was hooked people will say that i tunneled them instead of blaming your teammate for the poor choice action they did.

I played a map not long ago and 3 had flashlights i think they might of been of been a swf but every where i went at least 1 followed me and soon as i hooked someone within 5-10 sec someone was there and already trying to get the save.

lol nope they might adjust a few things but no major nerfs for killers, like they said in the stream the amount of kills is to low and needs to come up, which means killers won't get touched much some things might get a few adjustments but that's prob it, then with survivors they will get the same thing some things will get a buff others a nerf.

Anyone unbiased could tell you how crap dbd Is right now so why haven't the devs addressed anything? Solo Q Is terrible and dbd Is basically a generator simulator, constant busy work, chases are dead , and endgame Is so so boring now without DS and NOED... This game has become more frustrating than fun please do better...... A second Resident Evil chapter isn't gonna fix this game that franchise Is getting repetitive and old new life needs to be added into this game more relevant franchises and different game modes for starters!!!

Streamers can't bully the killer anymore and be toxic to them, quick someone get the devs to change it so they can be toxic and bully the killer again, sorry but someone i watch she plays solo and she has had no problems since the update some games she will die others all 4 will get out. Could it be the streamers had to relay on crutch perks like DH and now they can't the game is to hard for them.

Sorry but don't come in and say streamers have stopped playing i know a lot of streamers that play this game and none of them are have come even close to what you said about game balance.

my teammate brings this map and i swear it always ends up with camping, tunneling or just a bad game and when survivors bring it against me i do not play fair. why do people still bring this damn map?! youre just screwing over your RANDOM teammates or trying to screw the killer which is a 50/50 how its gonna go.

RPD map is one of the few maps that allow you to play some killers and use a meme build like scratched mirror myers, ghost face is a blast on that map you can get a lot of jump scares , i don't mind if survivors bring it in but if they all bring in the same item or trying to do something then the gloves come off.

But old undying had a limit of 4 cleanses, circle of healing doesnt, im not saying that old undyin + ruin wasnt busted, im just saying that old undying in the current game would be balanced, plus plaything has to be cleansed 4 times to stop working and nobody complains about it, its balanced

That's how i'm looking at it survivors can bless a totem over and over again with no limits to how many times not to add the killer has to pick do they track the boon down and snuff it or keep going with chase and leave the boon going so survivors have a place to heal with no perks or items, like someone said in this topic it takes 20 sec to bless a totem i bet it prob takes longer to find it and then snuff it just for a survivor to bless it again.

Even if they don't bring back the old version there should be a point in the middle to make it fair for each side with out one side felling OP to she other side.

  • people like that will be toxic no matter what and if they lose and couldn't be toxic they will leave the post game screen to avoid any comments, if they can be toxic like in your case they say gg ez then they will move onto the next match and do the same thing over again and each time they do it they ruin someone's experience in the game.

It takes 14 seconds to lose a perk slot / hex and as killer you only have 4, survivors have 16 slots and boons can be used by anyone even if they dont waste a perk slot for it, but why are we arguing about boons again? There's enough posts about boons in this forum

It's not arguing about boons but using them as a example for why old undying could come back with a few changes like OP is talking about.

  • @malloymk said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3098617#Comment_3098617

Ok. Does it take killers 20 seconds to snuff a boon totem though?

If you factor in the time to find it then the amount of times you have to snuff them you could say yes and each time a killer has to find one to snuff it they are not putting any pressure on the survivors, where as boon 1 survivor can set it up while 2 do gens and 1 is in chase. With all of that one could argue that old undying could come back with a few changes like the OP is suggesting.

  • @lagosta said:

I don't think that's a good idea. Now Undying also transfers stacks and having to cleanse anywhere between 2-5 totems to get rid of a single perk effect seems way too drastic. Imagine the pressure of 3 stacks of Devour Hope.

Killers have the same problems with boon totems unless killers bring in a perk then survivors can keep blessing over and over again with no limit to how times they can do it until you kill the survivor that is running the perk we/devs need to find a middle ground between the two that does not include perks.

  • @MommyHunktress said:

so im confused guys... i had a oni who had some bad latency but he wasnt like the best at chase and wasted alot of time on me on grim pantry and the other teammates were weird... one got tunneled out of game even after we fully healed her and the teammates just werent good and 3 genned us. after he camped a laurie to death i pointed just to get chased and never teabagged and then at end he just followed me around til i had 20 seconds or less on my timer slugged and then left me to die as the last surv. he didnt wanna risk me finding hatch since he dropped me to slug and he shook his head at me and her and i asked at endgame if he had anyluck with all slowdown oni and then he just said he had luck with me and called me a useless and then censored.

This isnt a rant but like a question? did i do something wrong by trying to take chase after he purposely ignored me? why exactly did he get salty was it the map? with this new update its just a whole batch of weird mixes and im kind of lost as to the state of ym game and would like input from fellow killer players?

Some killers will just be like that they could have a match where the survivors didn't do anything that might be toxic, played ok/well but in the end they will just slug you and let you bleed out because that's just who they are and how they want to play, because they got the 4k they think in there mind that they have to right to call survivors useless and what else he said.

By the sounds of it you did nothing wrong and did something not a lot of survivors do and that's try to take the heat from the killer and have them chase you, there could be other factors to due to this update they might of had survivors kill themselves on hook or DC the last few matches but you won't really know what made hem play that way, sorry you had to experience that even more with the changes with this update as it has made people play worse, different or just out to make other players experience bad.

But yer from what you have said it sounds like you did nothing wrong and you kinda got a salty killer, I would try and put this match behind you and move on that's the best advice i can give.

  • All the survivors that have stopped playing because of these changes will come back when they start to adjust some off the changes be it a nerf to some or a buff to others to see what's its like.

in the meantime, hook suicide isn't forbidden

    so deal with it

In your own words survivors just need to deal with these changes, if you spent a extra 30 seconds and looked a few post down you would off seen that there was a bit of miss communication they put choice instead of chose this is the msg i sent them after we found that out

"You meant chose not choice so that was just a bit off miss communication between us so all good, i play just for the chases and to meme around with some killers like ghost face one of the best to meme with survivors and i had a survivor DC because i marked him and downed him within 30 sec of the match starting so why ready up if your not going to see it to the end."

so maybe next time before you jump the gun read all the post as miss communication can happen and we moved on and talked about what they meant.

  • Only Ghost face is allowed to send pictures how dare demo take that away from him 😂

I am okay with balancing the game, but this balance should come slowly and with a lot of thought.

This patch feels like BHVR woke up one day, decided to nuke survivor meta perks, buffed every killer via basekit buffs and tell survs "do what you can"

i agree they should of did one thing like buff killer basekit and see how that went and if it still wasn't enough start to look at gens and perks, but some perks did need a nerf like DH and DS working in EGC. DS in EGC put the killer in a no win position.

  • @Rovend said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3097356#Comment_3097356

5 little sec of endurance against 6 basekit killer buffs?

"A lot of killer perks were nerfed" yes, but they buffed other killer perks that took their place which did not happen on the survivor side.

Thana, jolt, eruption, gift of pain are all part of the new dreadful slowdown meta now and were all buffed in this last patch while none of the survivor "buffed" perks are remotely used.

Call it a conplain or whatever you like, but you are plainly ignoring what this patch did

The devs said on the stream that they want to shake up the meta and that kill rates were to low and they want to get the kill rates a bit higher so why is everyone acting like they got no warning this was coming and the devs just dropped this update out of nowhere, yes it might sucks for a few weeks or a month but killers have had to go though the same thing. Take the mori rework killers knew it was going to happen but the devs gave no warning and just changed them and do you know what happened next killers were seeing keys left, right and center.

You could even use PGtW and old DS PGtW got nerfed but DS didn't get touched and what was the reason for the nerf, killers had to much time to pick what gen to use it in, The same thing with DS you could do what ever you wanted for a 1min and the killer pretty much couldn't do anything.

So it's happened on both sides over the years survivors just have to wait it out, yes it might suck big time but both sides have had to do the same thing int he past.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3097294#Comment_3097294

    Not really.

5 seconds of potential value is not the same as 0.2 seconds of absolute value. To win you NEED to hit survivors, and so you will get an attack cooldown and survivors will get a boost. To win you NEED to break pallets and breakable walls in most of your matches, and so you will need to break pallets and breakable walls. To win you DON'T NEED to tunnel every single match, so you don't have to go for the same survivor over and over.

When you hit survivors, the distance they will end up losing compared to pre-patch allows you to end chases much quicker, and chases are a core part of gameplay. If you tunnel, survivors have a window of about 20 something meters to reach a safe spot, but those 20 something meters of distance do not matter if you simply don't go for them. Problem is: Those 20 meters are usually not even enough to reach a safe spot.

To put things into perspective: One change was made to mitigate the issue of running in a straight line after getting hit so the killer can't catch you, the other to reduce tunneling and camping. One is working, the other one is not. Can you guess why?

Everything you said is has some really good points but one part of that is a bit tricky which is the tunneling part, yes you have the tunnel where killers just focus on one person to get them out of the match as quick as you can which is the problem, but then you have other times like i was trying to explain to someone else is when a survivors unhooks the hooked survivor right in front of you before you have even taken 5 steps away from the hook now is that tunneling or is that taking advantage of the mistake there teammate made by not waiting. The response i got back is that it's toxic and tunneling from that person where to me it's fair game and the survivor needs to blame there teammate not the killer.

Wait wait, where are all the survivors buff and perk buffs survivors got?

Did you actually read the perk rework patch?

The only perk which got a noticeable buff i can think of was OTR and it was pre nerfed. All the other perks got some veeeeery minuscule improvement and some of these "buffs" actually worsened the perks even more.

Calm spirit was given cleansing and opening chest silently, but nerfed with 30% speed penalty

Pharmacy now needs the survivor to be injured to activate (why this count as buff, i ll never know)

Botany heals you slighty faster at 50% but with 20% efficiency penalty

Distortion and lucky break got a very niche way to recover its effects.

Deja vu is laughable, 5% increase speed over the next 3 gens after repairing one in a limited time

Lightweight is a bit better but it wont work with any decent killer

Overzealous went from 6% boost to 8%, meh

Have you seen any of these "buffed perks" at use?

base kit BT so now you know when you get unhooked you have a chance to get away instead of getting downed because the unhooker didn't have BT, a lot off killers perks got nerfed to people need to stop complaining for a few weeks and let things calm down and find new perk combos, they are not going to do any real big changes soon we have seen it in the past when they have dropped updates or changed things, why do people think this update is going to be any different?

Dude, when I sad CHOISE i mean that I can choise my perk build. Example, we have Iron Will. If Iron Will Does not function while Exhausted. It's ok because I still have CHOICE and can play with it but with another build. But BHVR killed this perk. 75% with normal headphones is nothing

    And about you point.

At the moment there are killers(Nurse, Blight, etc) in the game against whom nothing can be done now, so what's the point of playing? I already wrote about the fact that BHVR, by up weak killers, automatically up strong ones.

Yesterday I watched a friend's(solo q) game, out of 10 games I managed to escape to 1, and that's because the killer was caught by an inexperienced hunter!

Personally, for myself, I made a choice that I will not play the game until BHVR change something in the direction of balance.

You meant chose not choice so that was just a bit off miss communication between us so all good, i play just for the chases and to meme around with some killers like ghost face one of the best to meme with survivors and i had a survivor DC because i marked him and downed him within 30 sec of the match starting so why ready up if your not going to see it to the end.

    Niсe try Matt :)

if you dont TRY or play BETTER than your opponent you shouldn't win.

in a game that is built on random

Too many people will see a red bar, or a certain killer and just give up straight away, even if the games not unbalanced they will just give up and use the patch as an excuse.

Regular behavior in a situation where the developers themselves don't play their game and force them to play as they want, and not the players

YOU HAVE TO TRY TO WIN, YOU HAVE TO ACTUALLY DO GENS.... expecting to win without trying or playing well is stupid.

If someone does not like the imposed concept of the game, then they can express it or convey it as it suits them. In any, the players should have a CHOICE, and not the imposition of a certain style of play. This applies to all parties.

They made the CHOICE when they hit the ready button to play that match, if they get a killer that they don't like then tough luck it gives them no excuse to DC, kill them selves on hook or just walking around till they find the killer and letting them hook them to get out off the match. Survivors know that there is more then 1 killer in the roster and they could be matched with any one of them if they are not ready to play the match then don't hit the ready button back out of the lobby and let someone in that will play.

People need to stop making excuses for survivors and the way they act when they get a killer they don't like, do you think its fun for the killer when all 4 survivors switch at the last second so they are all bring in flash lights, killers have no way to kill themselves and end the match they have to DC or go stand in a corner while they do gens and wait out the match.

  • @ThatOneDemoPlayer said:

I don't know why others are camping/tunneling, but here are my reasons.

    Camping:

    1. With the increased time it takes to complete Generators, Survivors get bored even quicker now and end up rushing the Hook. Why should I leave?
    2. 3-Genning is even stronger now with the 90 second Generators, why shouldn't I force one early?

    Tunneling:

    1. With the general Killer chase buffs, Survivors are scared to loop the Killer (especially now that Dead Hard isn't a free chase extender anymore) and take aggro, resulting in unsafe saves in the vicinity of the Killer (thanks to the base-kit BT) and then leaving the unhooked Survivor to die.
    2. With Generators now being slower and general chase buffs, tunneling even a good Survivor is now easily achievable. Tunneling the weak link of the team (which is the smartest play you could make as a Killer) is now brain-dead easy and efficient

Didn't you know 3-genning is classed as being toxic, i tried to explain to someone on another discussion that if survivors end up 3 genning and i have a survivor hooked in the middle i have no reason to leave the gens or the hook or if i play hag and set up for a 3 gen and it works out and same thing i hook a survivor in the middle i have no reason once again to leave the 3 gen, I got told playing like that is toxic and which is why camping is such a problem because of killers 3 genning and not wanting to chase a survivor across the other side of the map.

No idea the logic behind thinking like that because if the survivors 3 gen that is there own fault, if a killer gets the 3 gen they set up they earned that 3 gen.

  • @Tactrix said:

It's not tunneling if he goes after the unhooker, if he goes after the unhooked it's 100% tunneling. And if you don't understand that then we have nothing else to talk about.

If i hook a survivor and with in 5 seconds someone is unhooking them sorry that's on your teammates not me, why didn't they wait till i left to unhook them instead of doing it in my face just after i hook them, survivors need to take response ability for actions done by there team mates and not just blame the killer and scream you tunneled like you are now.

It's not that hard to wait 15 seconds for the killer to move away and be somewhere else on the map before you unhook the survivor, survivors need to stop healing under the hook cause if the killer comes back to the hook sorry that's fair game the survivors should off moved away from the hook to heal, it's just called common sense to be somewhere else if the killer is coming back then where they left you last but i guess being a entitled survivor you want killers to give free passes to survivors when they make mistakes.

  • @Tactrix said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3096852#Comment_3096852

Oni's specifically designed that way, just like stabbing multiple people with legion is that way by design. And by the way that's not tunneling, that's fair play. Because he doesn't wait until you take someone off the hook to down them, if he does that would be tunneling. It's not my fault nor my problem that you don't understand what tunneling and camping is.

And not are fault you don't know what snowballing is every killer can snowball not just oni, legion and myers every killer can snowball if survivors make mistakes, if a survivor is unhooked in front of the killer before he walks away sorry that's fair game and you need to blame your teammates and not cry that it's tunneling/

  • @Tactrix said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3096744#Comment_3096744

No, you just lose most of your camping and tunneling potential. Which if you considered that snowballing than you are part of the problem.

Snowballing has nothing to do with camping and tunneling i.e oni i guess its toxic now to use his power to rush and down more then 1 survivor in a row before it runs out or myers when you hit tier 3 and try and down as many as you can while you have it, ######### with you high horse your sitting on right now a killer loading into the game is toxic.

  • @Tactrix said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3096632#Comment_3096632

I'm not seeing any advantage lost at all. You're talking about camping as compared to chasing, caging won't change chasing, all it will do is prevent camping. And if you're trying to camp, then you're just playing toxic. And btw, hag is amazing at chases if you know how to utilize her traps, because unlike other trappers her traps get put down very quickly she can lock out a lot of loops.

So now it's toxic to patrol/camp when you have a 3 gen setup be it the survivors fault or the killer planned for the 3 gen at the start now that's some entitled survivor right there lets not forget the devs have said camping is a valid start, the killer is just making the most out of a 3 gen with a survivor hooked in the middle why would the killer go anywhere else apart from checking the gens and the hook, what would you like them to do go stand in a corner and count to 10 so you can unhook a survivor even though the survivors messed up and put themselves in a 3 gen.

If most of your traps if not all are in the 3 gen area why would you chase someone across the map even if you kept a couple on you that's really not enough when a survivor has half a map to use, your better of dropping chase and going back to your 3 gen where most of your traps are so when you get into a chase they are already down and ready to use.

Yer i'm done trying to explain the problems with your idea and how your giving survivors a free pass if they 3 gen themselves, if survivors end up getting themselves into a 3 gen then the killer should be able to put major pressure on them and not have survivors get a free pass to heal.

  • @Tactrix said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3096561#Comment_3096561

There's nothing to correct there. Their traps are still in place, let's talk this through ok? Let's say I'm playing hag(who is one of my fav killers btw). And I set up traps around my 3gen right? Now survivors come and I down some and hook em. So they disappear and go across the map. That right there is them burning their time, I don't have to leave my 3 gen, in fact staying on my 3gen is the best strat, because I'm making survivors burn resources and time getting their friends off the hook while I sit in my comfy 3 gen and pick them off. The more they come, they more I down them and they disappear and have to run all the way back. By the end they would have lost if they don't know how to play it correctly. So it's actually to the benefit of the killer to play this way.

As a side note with hag you don't even have to sit on the 3 gen, you can go and chase and down survivors, then when they spring your traps just port back.

Hag is not the best in chases you need to use her traps while you chase, by letting them go across the map your letting them heal up and come back to try and do a gen if the survivors mess up and put themselves into a 3 gen they shouldn't get a free pass to heal up and come back, they messed up and put themselves in a 3 gen the killer should have every right to petrol the gens and the hooked survivor. If the killer set up a 3 gen same thing the killer had to give up gens to make sure they got the survivors into a 3 gen where they can apply a ######### load of pressure on them, why should killers lose the advantage they have with a 3 gen and the amount of pressure they can put on survivors.

Side note if the chase goes to far away you won't be able to port back so at some point you have to pick commit or drop chase to keep you in range to port back.

  • It's really not that hard to get it but to many people are focused on what buff/change they could do for survivors to fix it with out realizing that some people will still camp no matter what why because they want to, some ideas as good as they might seem will punish/nerf some killers and if it was a easy fix like people claim why haven't they put it in the game already?

1 2 3 4 5 … 11
