So far it doesn't even feel like there is a matchmaking system. I feel like I'm just getting the first handful of random people that queued up, anywhere from 3k+ hours to just downloaded the game.

This is exactly how it feels to me as well. I literally had a teammate with almost 5k hours and only 7 hours in the same match.

  • I played well over 10 matches now (probably around 20) and it's not getting any better. I'm almost always playing with new players, only had one match so far where all players were actually good. The rest of the matches were either the killer destroying my clueless teammates or the killer chasing me for ages and my teammates not doing anything, causing us to lose anyway.

  • Thanks, I somehow missed that Q&A entirely and someone told me that the system was calculating our skill before it was activated.

Everyone saying it's trash after 5 matches when dev said it takes at least 10 to balance your rating... Good job!

Where did they say that exactly? Please send a link.

  • Terrible. I played like 5 matches and all of the teammates I got were clearly new to the game and the killer was actually good in 2 matches only.

Skill level has been retrospectively tracked ahead of MMR being enabled.

Then this MMR system is already a complete joke (which isn't surprising at all).

  • Both my teammates and the killer were clearly new to the game in the first 3 matches I played.

Was this system calculating our skill level before it was activated or is everyone at the bottom skill level right now?

  • I think he is mostly fine without addons or brown/yellow addons but after playing him for a bit I can absolutely see how ridiculously powerful he can be with good addons.

He is also pretty much only killer in the game that is actually better on maps with long, safe pallet loops. If survivors attempt to loop around those pallets they are just dead. The only thing they can do is drop them instantly.

  • I think they fixed it in this latest patch. I learned how people were doing this recently (which was surprisingly easy and wasn't even bannable) so I just checked it and it should no longer be possible.

  • Survivor.

Not a huge fan of killer gameplay in general but would definitely play more if the queue times were shorter and if I actually got survivors around my skill level. It's either too easy or too hard, I rarely play with survivors that I should be playing with.

  • Sounds are pretty broken right now but if they were working properly then yeah, I agree.

  • I don't think anything can be done except closing the gap between solos and swf and then balancing the game around that.

Letting the killer know that they are playing against a swf group is one of the worst solutions ever. Most people would just keep dodging lobbies until they find a solo group, making queue times a nightmare. Punishing people for playing with their friends is never a good idea.

  • It's an interesting idea but it could easily be abused by just moonwalking or going into cloak as wraith etc.

Ptb comes out, Killers complain Hillbilly is weak, survivors complain Leatherface is strong. Not shocked at all which one gets listened to and which one gets ignored.

Now they finally nerf Hillbilly and not only are they caving to killer main pressure yet again and giving them their ez mode killer back, but Peanits just said addons could change too so yay for a new version of instasaw which is what Hillbilly players want deep down.

I’m not even surprised anymore. The killer main community on here has the company wrapped around their little finger yet they act like they’re persecuted everytime they don’t get exactly what they want.

A lot of survivors also complained about Hillbilly being weak if you haven't noticed. I haven't tried or watched anything related to new Leatherface really so can't comment on that but overall, both sides complained about the billy nerf being too much.

  • The tweaks aren't that small actually. Feathering will generate a lot less heat now which is great, overheating in general will happen way less and the punishment for it is also reduced.

The "new animations" thing you mentioned is also unintentional from what I've heard. Curving is supposed to work exactly the same and it apparently has something to do with latency issues on the PTB or something like that.

  • It's not a common thing to see since only really skilled survivors can pull this off consistantly. Basically somebody jumps in a locker and someone waits and gets a flashlight save (aiming + timing is pretty hard and doesn't work on every locker). If somebody knows the right angle and timing they can get a save almost every single time and the killer can't do much about it really since the locker grab animation is long and the survivor can get into position easily.

However, there are sometimes two lockers next to each other and this is where it gets extremely broken. Two survivors can jump into these lockers and once somebody gets grabbed the other one can always get a save. The killer can't do anything about it except using lightborn.

  • Or you could just hit them and force them to get out

  • If you really want to take action, stop playing the game instead of ruining the game for others for no reason. Such a stupid and childish mentality.

  • Hopefully a Iridescent Head nerf. Wouldn't mind a nerf to Freddy to stop him from being able to spam snares as well.

This is just my opinion on the issue. I'm not complaining about flashlights. I'm complaining about flashlight saves. I should probably edit it.

I was referring to flashlight saves when I said flashlights. I consider myself to be pretty decent at getting flashlight saves and it is very hard to get flashlight saves against good killers. Against those killers trying to get flashlight saves is pretty much a waste of time since you could just be working on gens instead.

I'm sure you won't have much trouble with them after more practice as well. If you really can't deal with them now, use lightborn or infectious fright (which is way more useful than lightborn imo).

Spoiler alert! I'm not great at the game. Sometimes I don't have time to juggle a million things at once. Get out of here if you're gonna be a jerk too.

Well, then that's the issue. I'm sure you will also realize that flashlights are actually pretty counterable when you get better. A lot of things in the game seems unfair when you are new or not good at the game.

  • It's not OP, it's just annoying as hell. It's a really good thing for going against keys but for other items it'll be just annoying.

  • He seems really powerful now, can't wait to see how it actually plays. I'm also really happy that they addressed his facecamping.

But it's fair now that survivors get free uncage? Where is the risk/reward for this? Should it be 100% risk-free just because PH want to save few seconds for not hooking them normally?

Where is the risk/reward in going immediately to the caged survivor and downing them without worrying about anything?

If you weren't playing like that then it shouldn't affect you much at all.

  • I'm a red rank survivor and most of my matches are against red rank killers. It also takes ages to find a match as a red rank killer. Stop with this false narrative already.

  • Balance-wise, it's in the best state it has ever been in but health-wise, it's in the worst state it has ever been in.

  • Bill was free but he is still licensed. Valve owns the character.

  • Yeah it is super annoying to get as survivor. People just run around trying to find crowns instead of doing gens and it takes ages to find one anyway.

  • 1. Because rank doesn't mean skill in this game at all. Red ranks are filled with new survivors that have no idea what they are doing. A lot of red rank survivors belong in rank 15 at best. Ranking up is way too easy and the rank reset changes made things way worse. You used to go from rank 1 to rank 10 before but now you just go back one colour and these trash survivors pretty much never leave red ranks anymore.

    2. I don't think Lithe is that good at all. Sometimes activating it doesn't help you much at all, such as while looping at shack. It's still a good perk but I would always pick other exhaustion perks except Head On. Also a lot of people actually think that Sprint Burst is the best exhaustion perk, myself included.

    3. I don't have much experience with those killers but I know that it is pretty easy to rank up as Wraith.

    4. Both sides have pretty bad offerings except map offerings and moris (and those are insanely overpowered).

    5. I want older maps reworked personally. I think we already have too many maps in the game and I don't like a lot of the newer maps.

  • I think only the person who brings the offering gets 2x points. That's what happened to me.

  • No, Megs are way worse. I don't remember the last time I've seen a decent Meg.

  • Consider using Iron Will. I know that "just use X perk" is a lame advice but it is one of the best counters to spirit. It helps even if the killer has Stridor and Iron Will is one of the best perks in the game even without Spirit.

Don't be predictable and don't just run in a straight line while she is phasing. I still see so many survivors do this for some reason.

Don't try to loop her like you do against almost every other killer. Sometimes dropping the pallet instantly can be the best option.

Don't attempt to vault the pallet when she is standing still. @Orion's advice is great and it's what you should do in those situations.

The cage appears as far away from PH as possible. There’s not a chance in hell that no other survivor is closer to the cage than PH. Even if PH beelines straight to a cage, there’s absolutely ZERO reason someone cannot save and have the both of you leave the area before PH arrives to the cage vicinity. The only reason that can happen is if survivors behave the exact same way as they do with hooks: stay on gens for a bit longer to see if they can get a repair finished

This is not true at all. This happened to me multiple times already. If the killer heads straight to the cage there is a chance that he'll be able to easily tunnel the survivor even if the closest survivor starts running to save immediately. This is especially easy to do on some small maps.He can also tunnel tormented survivors off hook (this is way more popular) without worrying about DS. The game gives him many opportunities to allow these annoying playstyles, it's just up to the killer whether if they want to play like that or not.

That doesn't mean that he is overpowered though (I don't think he is even that strong). I just don't see him as healthy for the game and it's a shame that the devs still don't know how to deal with these problems 4 years after launch. Camping/tunneling should have been addressed years ago but instead they just added a bunch of bandaid fixes and this killer feels like a bandaid fix for decisive strike in my opinion.

  • I would agree with this if ranks actually mattered and the teammates I got were actually around my skill level (or if they were actually decent at the game at rank 1). Constantly dying because of trash teammates gets annoying really fast.

  • A god tier trapper is one of the scariest killers to go against

Decisive Strike isn't as problematic as a lot of people make it out to be

Hawkins is my favourite indoors map as survivor even though it is quite killer sided

DC penalties hurt innocent players more than the people that actually deserve them

    Brutal Strength is underrated

Nurse is my favourite killer to go against

  • I totally agree with you. I didn't have much trouble completing the previous rifts (probably because I was playing nonstop) but this one has been absolutely horrible. I may not purchase the next rift unless BHVR reduces the grind (or if the cosmetics are all somehow amazing which I doubt will happen). I don't want to force myself to play the game anymore.

  • I agree. This rift was absolutely horrible, I didn't enjoy pretty much any of the challenges and some of them were extremely painful to get. I played the a ton since it got released and I'm only at tier 51 at the moment. I was almost done around this playtime in the previous rift. I barely have enough time to play other games and I feel like I'm forcing myself to play to complete the rift, this was not the case in the previous rifts.

Is it before game or just after game? If it's begore game could be to make it less convenient for players to check profiles while in the lobby and dodge if they see something they don't like. Also maybe lessen Solo players sending chat invites before the match. If it's just the end game screen though that just seems unnecessary.

It's doesn't work on after game only.

  • This is just one of many cases of BHVR implementing things with very little thought process behind them, if it's actually intentional. They seriously forgot how their report system works if it is intentional which is hilarious.

Not everyone clicks on people's profiles to be toxic. I've gotten a lot of nice messages and became friends with lots of nice people after they sent a friends request. If somebody doesn't want to deal with toxicity they can easily make their steam profile private or not allow random people to send them messages on consoles. There is no need for this at all.

2,2 GB. Sounds like there's an issue with your game, probably some corrupted files.

I was playing the game just fine yesterday so I don't think that's the problem. This started happening after I moved the game to a SSD I think because I had to redownload the game then as well.

  • Just restart steam and it will probably show up.

This is unrelated but what is the patch size for you guys? Is it actually 20 gigs or is my pc just redownloading the entire game for some reason?

You can disagree - but this is the elusive example of an opinion actually being wrong. The point is, you can "get" ready when you hear her lullaby (if you're that immersed/scared), but it's non directional. So you're not going to know where she's coming from.

M&A is very common on Huntress - as it is on any other killer than isn't full movement speed.

    @johnmwarner said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1320843#Comment_1320843

Each style is different, but I honestly don't even "get ready," when I hear a terror radius if I know it's a 32 meter killer already. Just because you hear them doesn't mean they're headed your way. So don't take offense because I am not necessarily saying this is you, but I see lots of people that crouch and hide as soon as they hear any heartbeat. I run Bond and/or Kindred every game so these are the people I watch crouching for literally a full minute while someone is looping the killer near them. If they waited to "get ready," they could have just finished the gen.

When I say I "get ready", I don't mean I start hiding in a corner or something. I am the exact opposite of immersed.

Her lullaby is non directional but it still gets louder when she gets close so it's not like you have no idea where she is. You can still somewhat predict where she is.

I could be wrong though since I seriously don't see huntress players use M&A that often so maybe it is actually really good on her.

  • @Frankie said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1319037#Comment_1319037

    WAT lol

M&A is awesome on Huntress. It doesn't effect the Lullaby, but being that her Lullaby is non-directional and gives no location of where she's coming from, M&A effecting the actual terror radius (heartbeat) allows her to get SO close to survivors.

I disagree. I get ready when I start hearing her lullaby, not her terror radius and I'm sure a lot of people do the same. I very rarely see anyone actually use M&A on huntress.

  • Honestly the best way to learn how to counter him is actually playing as him and learning his weaknesses that way.

  • As far as I know her lullaby isn't effected by M&A at all which makes it a pretty bad perk to use on her.

  • "It’s not like you go against a mori and key everyday."

I go against both of them multiple times per day. Their rarities are a joke and are definitely not "ultra rare" at all.

The amount of times I've been accused and reported for lag switching because someone's internet acts up is uncountable.Has nothing to do with the fact that your brother is looking up some raunchy videos...nope, its definitely me cheating, lol. VPNs is the new accusation now. Honestly... I cant wait til they do their thing too, if nothing else than to find out the next thing ppl will accuse each other of.

For your examples, you claim everything weird thats ever happened is the result of the killer and whatever ping shenanigans theyre pulling. Weird hit happened? Its the fault of whoever I'm against surely. You didnt stop to find out the killer's ping before declaring them "high ping killers".

I always check my ping in those situations since you can see your ping when you pause the game now and my ping is usually fine when stuff like that happens. You can clearly tell when the killer is using a VPN (or just has horrible internet) by how they start lunging from so far away and hit you anyway or how they can hit you a second after you drop the pallet in their face etc. You must have gone against killers like that as well.

I would have loved to show you the video of the "lag switching" thing but I just deleted that recently. It's just way too convenient how their connection is great at the beginning and after chasing me for ages they magically hit the air and down me. In the video I deleted for example , I turned left ages ago and the nurse kept going straight anyway , hit the air and downed me. Then after hooking me her lag stopped and it came back when she started chasing me again. Sometimes I go down so far away from the killer (in an area they can't even see) that they have trouble finding where I went down. Maybe it's just DBD being DBD but I find it way too convenient sometimes.

  • @LordGlint said:

Maybe that was the case when killers were hosts, but with dedicated servers...high pings as killer means youll be rubber banded back to the same spot over and over.

Dedicated servers didn't really solve any of those issues. High ping killers can still hit you from insane distances and there is nothing you can do about it.

Sometimes killers also conveniently start having high ping when they can't catch me so I'm certain that some sort of lag switching is still possible as well.

These problems will only go away when they finally take the hit priority from killers and let the server decide if it actually hits or not.
