Personally I do not think healing should be nerfed, solo queue players are going to be affected the most by this update. I think healing is fine and they should focus on changing other things such as camping or nerfing bubba or the plague or someone.

Altruistic healing being nerfed means swf will be hit just as much. 24 seconds might be too much, but healing being nerfed is a good idea in my opinion. It makes killer gameplay more rewarding.

The devs are not going to get rid of the killer buff and then nerf killers as well. I hope you realise that survivor queue times are already longer than killer queue times. Not a good idea.

If anything, a nerf to healing will allow BHVR to nerf camping without losing killer players.

Are you a killer main? Because if you take into consideration the perspectives of other players such as "solo queue players" who I argue make up the majority of the game are going to really struggle if not start to play dead by daylight less because of this update changes. This isn't just a normal update, this is a game changer update and in my opinion the for the worst. The healing change isn't something small its going to be a huge change to the game maybe the biggest changes in the last year or two. Dead hard already received such a big change and it's going to be nerfed again doesn't make sense to me.

Dead Hard is just insanely annoying, that's why I am happy it's getting nerfed. CoH nerf is the bad change in my opinion, because that change hurts solo survivors more than swf.

I play both roles fairly equally, even if I do tend to play killer more when given the option. I think the healing nerfs are good, because I like the idea of killers slowing the game down more by spreading damage, and less with perks. I am just expecting there to be other changes that will be needed. And as I said, I think 20 seconds will be fairer, 24 seconds seems too much.

But we'll see when the ptb starts.

  • Some more perk buffs would have been nice, I hope we get those in the next update. But I do think that bringing down the strongest perks is more important at the moment.

My biggest problem with this update, from what I can tell, is that there is no nerf to camping despite the major healing nerf, which will cause serious issues if nothing is done before the patch goes live.

I do think the healing nerf is a very good idea, though 20 seconds would probably be better, but not without certain other changes.

Step 1: Devs make heal time 24s.

    Step 2: Sloppy/Mangled becomes meta.

Step 3: It now takes 60s to heal 2 survivors to full, which is the same amount of time as 1 hook stage (not counting the time it takes for them to find each other)

Step 4: Killer camps; since it takes at least 2 survivors to rescue vs. a camping killer due to the BS of being able to grab healthy survivors while rescuing, they automatically get a free hook stage if the survivors have to reset

Step 5: Survivors stop playing because this is some stupid, piss poor excuse for game balance that anyone can see if they just do some goddamn math.

As for the add-ons; it just adds to the frustration that they have no idea what they're doing. Who asked for an Engravings nerf? Who is going to use Freddy's blindness add-ons, or Oni's add-ons which increase movement speed while absorbing blood orbs? They needed to be REWORKED, not thrown token buffs that still don't justify using them!

Meanwhile they have a GIGANTIC backlog of killers who need add-on passes: Billy (again, but don't ######### it up this time), Myers, Freddy (again), Slinger, Pyramid Head, Blight (for having OP as hell add-ons that remain UNTOUCHED), Twins (which was promised well over 6 months ago but is nowhere to be seen), Nemesis, and Sadako.

Not to mention the dud that the last two chapters have been, both killer-wise and perk-wise.

I am so tired. I don't want to be so negative. But they insist on releasing 4 new killers every year despite the obvious lack of ideas, polish, originality, etc... and refuse to fix the backlog of trash we already have because it doesn't make money.

Gen kick meta, dead? Good. Dead Hard nerf, great! CoH nerf, fantastic! QoL and accessibility improvements, wonderful!

But some people in that company I have had it with. It's so hard to be positive about a game where the developers won't even work out basic consequences of their changes.

"I'm sure they'll listen to feedback after the PTB!" you say. But the bottom line is that the Engravings nerf and 24s base heal speed nerf should not have needed more than 5 minutes worth of thought to understand why they shouldn't have even dedicated coding manpower to it in the first place.

Lmao no. They probably just want to test how far they can push healing times. I predict that they are going to settle for 20 second healing times in the end, which would be perfect in my opinion. And I am also sure that they will end up nerfing mangled a bit as well, since even with 20 second heals it can't stay at 20%.

But the idea to have killers slow down the game more by playing well and spreading damage, while slowing the game down less with slowdown perks, is a good idea in my eyes.

  • I 100% agree with this. I am happy healing is being nerfed, even though 24 seconds is probably too much, but camping absolutely also needs to be nerfed in the same patch, or it will just be buffed indirectly again, since healing takes longer now. And that would be horrible.

  • DH nerf is a good thing, and the healing nerf arguably as well when you consider that the 3 best slowdown perks all got nerfed pretty hard. The healing nerf will probably just be too much, and decreased to 20 seconds.

  • @Zokenay said:

Solo Q already got a mayor buff with the Icons, and this doesnt apply just to Solo Q, it also applies to SWF, being able to heal yourself as many times as you want at any decent speed is simply too strong, if you want to heal yourself that desperately then bring a medkit or have others heal you.

I get that, but I still think this nerf hurts solo queue much more than swf.

The healing nerf indirectly nerfs CoH enough already, no need to butcher the perk

  • I agree very much with this post. These changes might be not be perfect, but a good start.

I do think they will reduce the healing time to 20 seconds, but I sure don't hope and also doubt that they will revert the healing nerf completely. I think 20 seconds would be a perfect sweet spot. They are probably testing 24 seconds to really see how far they can push the healing times, but I expect them to end up with 20 seconds.

  • I would argue the nerf to healing, which is probably why it's being hit so hard, will encourage chases just as much if not more, and it will encourage spreading damage more. Which is why on paper, I like the idea of increasing healing times.

  • There is no way it will stay if healing stays at 24 seconds. My hope is that they reduce the healing time to 20 seconds, but even then, Self Care can not stay at 35%. It needs it's 50% back.

  • @BlueHorkew said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3382926#Comment_3382926

Here, a solution. Healing is the same 16s.

Med kits have 16 charges- Self healing speed reduced by 33%

Done, altruism is still 16 seconds, but now med kits are 24s if you use them to self heal.

I swear, it's not that hard.

How did the devs think that going for this drastic change wouldn't create consequences that they can't control

No I disagree. Though those changes would also be good, no doubt. But I think having all healing at 20 seconds would be even better. Medkits would still be a bit better thanks to having a 20 second healing time as well, which would be good for solo survivors. But healing in general would now slow the game down more, which I think would be a great change.

I would personally just love to see healing being a bigger factor for slowdown, and perks being less of a factor. Because again, I do believe that just staying injured the whole time is a huge risk against most killers.

This change would also buff stealth killers indirectly, which I would love to see, as none of them seem particularly strong at the moment.

  • @BlueHorkew said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3382870#Comment_3382870

If that is the idea, it's going to hit them in the face for how bad it is.

This just incentives tunneling/camping and gen rushing. Thats all those changes do. They don't nerf medkits, because they will be more necessary then ever because altruism is so slow.

High level survivors already play injured a lot of times, and they are removing interactions with killers.

So great Low and Mid survivors get destroyed, High level SWFs now gen rush even faster. Kill rates will increase tremendously so time to nerf killers. While at high level survivors gen rush the gens before the killer can do anything. A simple nerf to med-kits would have been enough.

Great survivors work on gens, killers, survivors take longer to reset and heal, you can tunnel and camp one survivor even easier now, because bodyblocks and protection hits are going to hurt a lot.

They remove regression from chases, which is the regression even survivors are ok with being strong.

I am tired of nerfing because of pick rates when it wasn't an issue.

I am so tired of rushed changes that don't have the foresight of the consequences. Bhvr has a big community and fog whispers to help them. How are we getting so many bad updates in a row since Wesker came out. I am tired of seeing a patch and realizing a big problem in a few minutes.

I know the devs are smart and care for the game, but this constantly is getting exhausting

No I disagree. Higfh level survivors do not heal sometimes, but sometimes they do. It is not the best play to constantly stay injured, and the only reason Plague and Legion are not stronger with survivors staying injured is because they have no power against injured survivors, at least most of the time.

I think if they reduce the healing time to 20 seconds, the change will be great. Less slowdown because of very strong slowdown perks, more slowdown because of good killer play by injuring survivors a lot. I also wouldn't mind if medkits only took 20 seconds to heal, considering the other nerfs they received.

Camping will 100% also need to be looked into however, there is no way this patch can go live without camping nerfs, even with 20 second healing times. I guess you are right that the devs need a bit more foresight with some changes, like camping and mangled becoming too strong.

When it comes to tunneling though, I don't think that will cause too much problems. If a killer wants to camp, they can already prevent the unhooked survivor from getting healed. If anything, longer healing times will encourage killers to not tunnel.

Last but not least, I hope they revert the nerf to CoH, because that nerf hurts solos more than swf.

Also, this is just going to be in ptb. I am sure they are going to make changes if people are unhappy. I just don't expect them to revert the healing nerfs, because then they would also have to tone down the nerfs to the regression perks. But I wouldn't be surprised if they have 20 second healing times already ready as a backup plan.

The new aura change literally helps solo survivors more than anyone, you simply cant heal yourself with it.

If you want infinite heals, theres Self Care waiting for you.

I disagree, the aura change is nice but not enough. Self Care shouldn't lose it's self heal, too harsh for solo queue.

Self Care is not an option, that will take way, way too long. It's literally going to be the worst perk in the game.

  • The devs actually do know what they are doin in my opinion. The idea of this upcoming patch is to allow killers to slow down the game more by spreading damage, being rewarded for playing well, and less simply with perks.

The 24 second heal is why the top slowdown perks are getting nerfed so much.

But personally I hope BHVR will settle for 20 second healing times, and then buff PR's regression to 20% instead of 15%. I do like the nerfs to Call of Brine and Overcharge though.

  • Yes please, especially with the upcoming nerf to healing.

  • @Devil_hit11 said:

I think its reverse. skull merchant is in a decent position currently in the game because of overcharge and call of brine however her strategy is getting completely dumpster at base-kit, so she will very bad. The unfortunate aspect about trapping type killers is that even with new changes, they will still be using same strategy with nerfed perks but now they'll be losing more often.

they will be switching positions with stealth killers. stealth killer were often terrible because of healing times. now they will be a lot better but these camping-type 3 gen killers such as hag, trapper and this girl right here. They will be in a more rough spot. I guess that's alright because most people hate these killers anyway so whatever.

She will definitely get hit with the new patch, but I think this allows BHVR to buff her one more time. In my opinion they should still buff her stealth ability.

  • Camping will 100% need to be nerfed in this patch as well, or things will look very grim.

  • I think she is generally very well designed, but her balance is problematic in the current state of the game. In the upcoming patch, she probably won't be a problem anymore however.

So i think she is going to be fine for both sides very soon.

  • The idea is to for killers to slow down the game themselves, by spreading damage more, and playing skillfully.

Some people argue survivors are just going to stay injured and rush gens, but in that case, killers will also be able to get downs very quickly, because survivors will be 1 shot.

I like the ide behind the patch, but a few additional changes will probably be needed.

I do kinda like the encouragement to do more hit and run, but imagine the legion games.

COH could have been nerfed a few ways but they decided to do what is possibly the worst. It just doesn't seem worth it to run when you can have empathy or even Empathetic Connection without having to waste time setting up a boon.

I don't want to imagine Legion games. I am just going to argue that they are terribly designed.

I agree with CoH. I really hope they revert that nerf. If anything, they should just decrease the bonus healing speed slightly.

It’s not gonna work though. You can play safe to avoid the 1st hit, rush gens while injured, and use medkits and We’ll Make It to stay healthy while mostly ignoring the speed reduction.

Medkits and we'll make it ware also affected by these changes.

I guess the question is whether survivors will just stay injured and rush gens, but against a lot of killers, staying injured is very dangerous.

I do think the direction of these changes are very good, they might just need to tone them down a bit, which I am sure they will do if too many people complain.

  • @Blueberry said:

I pretty much agree with all of that other than CoH. I think the self healing on CoH was the entire core problem with the perk.

With how much outrage the survivor community is giving I doubt they’ll stick with the 24 seconds either. I also expect them to cave and lower to 20. Although I disagree with lowering it to 20. I think people are overreacting a lot.

If they do however pull back on the heal changes then I expect them to pull back on the gen regression nerfs as well as the healing changes were the only reason I was okay with them.

Ideally I’d rather them go through with all of it though.

Other than the Billy changes, idk what’s up with that.

24 seconds seems tough though. We'll have to wait and see in the ptb. But I'd rather have 20 seconds than them reverting it to 16 seconds.

Regarding CoH, I think that self healing is a must, since it helps solo queue in particular.

  • Lmao these same things were said about the game when 6.1.0 released. Something tells me the game won't die.

  • I like the idea of increasing healing time and nerfing the best slowdown perks, meaning killers are more in charge of slowing the game down themselves by playing well.

But if 24 seconds is too much, I could see them reducing the healing time to 20 seconds.

  • @Sonzaishinai said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3381867#Comment_3381867

Yeah i feel that way too.

The changes are really extreme but it is important to not look at them in a vaccuum but as a whole.

Survivors are less safe now that healing is harder and DH doesn't get that safety blanked but killers have most of their easy regression removed so they have to get their slowdown now from interracting with survivors.

I'm interrested to see how this goes tbh

Exactly. And that's why all these changes will be tested in ptb first. I wouldn't be surprised if BHVR has 20 second healing times already ready as a backup plan, and they are just trying to see how far they can push healing times with the ptb.

  • @Zokenay said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3381879#Comment_3381879

Thing is, the ability to heal yourself infinitely is just too strong, and it often leads to stale situations, where theres no progress from either side.

I simply disagree. I think it's important for CoH to allow self healing, because of solo survivors. If the healing time is increased enough, and it would be, it wouldn't be that bad anymore.

  • @yauniqua said:

Anyone capping in the replies wanna come back to further embarrass themselves?

I'll be bumping this thread right as the player count drops and BHVR is throwing out Bloodhunts and XP bonuses like it's a parade.

What are you talking about? If anything, posts like this just prove that nothing bad is going to happen, even after the newest patch. Look at all the posts that said DBD was going to die after the 6.1.0 update, and nothing happened. Wow, crazy.

Sure, some players will take a break if there won't be more changes, for example, camping will need to be addressed as well if healing is nerfed, but the game will not be in big trouble.

  • The idea with the general nerf to healing is to give killers more slowdown by playing well, injuring survivors as much as possible, and in return, nerfing the best slowdown perks noticeably, which is exactly what is happening.

I do agree that 24 seconds might be a bit much, but 20 seconds I think would work perfectly. If they do revert the healing nerfs, they will also need to look into the nerfs to the regression perks, or things could potentially become problematic. So I don't expect them to revert the healing nerf, but I can very much imagine that they have a 20 second healing time already ready as a back up plan.

Medkits definitely needed nerfs though, so I am happy that's happening. The one nerf I really dislike on the survivors side is the CoH nerf. They should not get rid of the self heal ability.

  • @Blueberry said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3379222#Comment_3379222

Yeah this is essentially my thoughts as well and why I’m more okay with all the gen regression nerfs if they’re coming along with the heal changes. This makes gen regression less necessary but only if you’re good at chase and pressuring the map. As you touched on as well, provided they have enough reason to heal. They could potentially ignore this and just gen rush. I could’ve seen some more incentive on healing like a hypothetical “you do gens 10% slower while injured” kind of thing. This said though I like the concept they’re going for and we can wait and test it out on the PTB to see if something like that would even be necessary.

I feel like both sides are just seeing “my gen regression nerfed” or “my healing nerfed” without realizing those things were nerfed in correlation with one another so those nerfs aren’t as bad as they may seem on face value when they realize the changes the other side got. Like yeah healing will take much longer, but now gens are going to also go much faster with all the regression getting nerfed and vice versa.

This I definitely agree with. People are overreacting as always, and I also do not believe the argument that solo queue is dead now, considering that altruistic heal was nerfed just as much. The only thing I really dislike is the fact you can't heal yourself with CoH anymore, that needs to come back, because the healing nerf already indirectly nerfs CoH enough.

I predict that BHVR already has a 20 second heal as a back up plan though, and is going with 24 seconds to see how far they can push heal times. I do agree that 24 seconds might be a bit much. I just hope that if they reduce the healing time to 20 seconds, they also look at perks like PR, maybe buffing them a bit somewhere else. PR could do 20% regression instead of 15% for example.

I also want Pop buffed a litte, it's arguably the healthiest slowdown perk in the game.

  • @Nirgendwohin said:

My guess is they are shooting for 70/30 kill rates now because 60/40 not push away enough players from the game.

This kind of doesn't make sense when considering that the average survivor queue time is longer than killer queue time at the moment. Despite needing 4 times as many survivor players than killer players.

  • I feel like the devs are attempting to shift the game a bit so that killers slow down the game more with their own gameplay, injuring survivors as much as possible, with less slow down coming from perks. This might also be a reaction to the complaints about the 3 gen strategy, because the killer actually has to chase survivors to get hits against them.

I actually kind of really like the idea to be honest, but if I had to guess, they will reduce the healing time to 20 seconds before the patch hits live. I do agree that it would be nice to have a meta shift in this game, it needs it. I actually believe Pain Res will still not be that bad, but I also do think they should buff the regression up to 20%, since it activates less times.

  • I am pretty sure the devs aren't really taking most complaints serious, considering the changes aren't even out yet. Once the ptb drops, they will surely listen to all people again, and make further changes if needed.

  • The healing nerf alone would have been enough to make CoH not a problem anymore. Its the one perk nerf I hope they revert.

  • I am excited for the healing nerf, but I think it will need to be monitored very closely. I wouldn't be surprised if BHVR already has a backup play ready, to reduce the healing time to 20 seconds. If the 24 seconds really turn out to be too much.

However, my biggest worry is camping. With healing taking longer, camping will become even more effective. They will 100% have to increase the hook phase duration to at least 70 seconds, and probably also remove hook grabs, with the nerf to healing. Nerfing healing to 24 seconds is the perfect opportunity to finally nerf camping, which people have been asking for for so long.

I also share your worries about Sprint Burst, but I think I will prefer a Sprint Burst meta over a DH meta. I didn't even consider DH op, just so annoying and exhausting.

  • @RakimSockem said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3379313#Comment_3379313

you don't need stacked slowdowns if you're actually good at the game though. I literally run Ruin on Myers as my only gen regress and get 3ks just fine.

Huntress with no slowdowns (although she doesn't need them) and I get 3ks and 4ks

Nurse.... well she's just busted so you can run anything on her and win.

The point is, those slight nerfs to a few gen regression perks pale in comparison to the massive survivor nerfs

No they don't? The meta slowdown perks were all nerfed very hard, just like the survivor perks. Neither pale compared to the other.

Against really good survivors, you do need some form of slowdown. But the healing nerf should, or at least is supposed to help with that, which is why the slowdown perks needed to be nerfed. But survivors will continue to have very good perks, such as the other exhaustion perks, which will now just see more use.

The CoH nerf I do think is bad. I wish they just reduced the bonus healing speed a bit more but kept the self healing, as that was the perk's most important use. And with healing times increased, CoH especially wouldn't have been much of a problem anymore. In fact, even with 50% increased self healing speed, it would have probably taken one almost 30 seconds to self heal, so CoH wouldn't have been a problem anymore anyways.

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

I also highly dislike the Changes to Base Healing.

First of all, it is an indirect Buff to camping (once again) especially because one of the best Slowdown-Perks (Deadlock) is not changed. When a Killer is camping, to have a chance to save the Survivor, you probably need at least two healthy Survivors. My SWF-Mate and myself can manage this - however, if we are both injured, we will take 48 seconds to heal each other at base. This is too long to try to save someone. Sure, we can start using Medkits or Botany Knowledge, but it is more likely that Sloppy Butcher is used more oftern.

Furthermore, those changes encourage Survivors to just stick to Gens. Again, when two Survivors are injured, maybe even with Sloppy Butcher - why should they heal each other? Both can do a Gen together, possibly with Resilience and Prove Thyself and are probably better off.

Then, when it comes to Hemorrhage - I liked the changes back then. However, I think that now Hemorrhage should not apply to Self-Healing anymore. With Medkits being nerfed AND healing being nerfed as well, it probably should not be the case that Hemorrhage exists like that. One small interruption and the Medkit is probably useless for Self-Healing.

Furthermore, the Devs should look at Mangled and Hemorrhage now. Maybe Sloppy Butcher should not inflict both of them anymore. It will most likely be used more, so inflicting Mangled should be enough. In general, with this Nerf to healing I feel that Perks and Add Ons should not exist which both do Hemorrhage AND Mangled, but rather one of those.

The camping issue can easily be resolved by getting rid of freaking hook grabs, and increasing the hook phase duration to 70 seconds or so. Something many people have wanted for a while. If a killer can slow down the game more by spreading damage, they shouldn't have camping to rely on as much anymore. I am positive the devs will have to realise that camping will be a problem, if left unchanged, before the update goes live. No way they can ignore that issue.

Mangled might need to be nerfed in general, 20% on top of 24 second healing will probably be a bit much. I am sure 15% or even just 10% would do the trick, and still keep Sloppy Butcher and addons that apply mangled useful.

Medkits being 24s will definitely be okay. I just feel like normal healing wasn’t really a problem and with Sloppy now it’s just going to be way too long. I’m expecting Resilience/Adrenaline to be meta with these changes (and Adrenaline already was meta). I would much rather they have just put a penalty on medkits that makes healing longer than to nerf all healing.

I am definitely not convinced yet. I like the idea of having killers themselves prolong matches more by playing well, injuring survivors, instead of having perks that do so. And nerfing healing like this could help. The question is just whether the new meta will simply be injured survivors rushing gens. But against a lot of killers, staying injured can be very, very dangerous. So we'll have to wait and see.

If 24 seconds turns out to be too much, I am optimistic BHVR will reduce that to 20 seconds, but I doubt they will completely revert the change, as a lot of the update seems to revolve around the idea of killers being able to slow down the game more by injuring survivors, which is probably also why PR got nerfed so hard.

I do hope they also keep a close eye on Sloppy Butcher, they will probably have to nerf it before the update goes live, at least if healing stays at 24 seconds. But we'll be able to see for ourselves when the ptb goes live.

I am just happy to be excited about DBD again, because the game has become a bit stale for me lately.

Yeah they can adress camping with it, killers wouldn't mind that at all, because killers also enjoy chases, but since the game force you to tunnel or camp because of CoH, DH, Gen rushing addons and items and perks, we had no choice but to camp and tunnel, i am all for it to make game more about chases rather then gen rushers

Yeah that would be my hope as well. Now that injuring survivors is more rewarding, buying killers more time, they really need to nerf camping as well, and they can now, because killers have better ways to slow down the game.

nless of course the new meta really just becomes survivors rushing gens while injured.

I think it will be extremely troublesome. Survivors have become way better in repairing without healing. Now there are no slowdown perks left, so... yeah. I expect really, really short matches from now on.

That's not quite true. Jolt still exists, and I am not 100% convinced that PR is going to be bad after the nerf.

We'll see how effective it is to stay injured the entire match, but against killers with strong power, staying injured is very dangerous. Especially because survivors rely quite a bit on the speed boost they get after getting injured, it's one of the aspects that help them out in chase a lot to get into better positions. Being one shot takes that away.

The only thing that comes to my mind right now that might really become troubling is camping. They will absolutely have to increase the hook phase duration if they nerf healing like this, and I hope they will do so before the update goes live.

Say goodbye to 3 gen and DH&COH, hellooooo new meta. It has been a looooong time coming and I can't wait for it.

3 gen being nerfed is definitely one of the most exciting aspects of this update, I agree. I also like the nerf to DH, but CoH I wish kept the self heal. If anything, they should have just reduced the bonus healing speed slightly more and that's it.

  • I can't say I find it that hard to have other survivors heal me in solo queue. Usually I find a survivor quickly, or get healed after being unhooked.

I could see this becoming a bit of a problem, but I am not convinced yet. I do kind of wish they would have just reduced the bonus healing speed of CoH to 40 or 33 %, and kept the self healing. The self healing is very important to CoH. Maybe they will change it before the update goes live, though I am not very optimistic.

PGTW deletes 22.5% of a gen's current progress (+ the 2.5% at base brings it up to the 25% we once had) and lasts for 60 seconds

BHVR just gutted PR and OverBrine so it's the least they could do really

To be fair, the nerfs to PR and especially Overbrine might be needed with the nerf to healing that survivors are receiving. We'll have to wait and see, but I think these nerfs might be fine, as long as the healing nerf stays. If it gets toned down, I would hope they also tone down the nerf to at least PR, and buff Pop a bit more again. Call of Brine and Overcharge being nerfed this much is fine by me though, might make at least some people not hate Skull Merchant anymore as well, who I personally like a lot.

  • I am not sure how good these changes are going to be, but we've got a ptb to test them luckily. I am however excited to have such drastic changes, because DBD has become a little stale at the moment, and changes like these get me excited again.

Killers struggled with gen defense, since all meta slowdown perks have been nuked. So in order to address this, they nerfed healing.

Now everyone will start to play without healing, like we did against Legion and Plague. Both killers are known for their exceptional high kill rate (oh wait...)

    What could possibly go wrong?!

To be fair, one difference is that Legion and Plague don't have a power if survivor choose to not heal. Other killers all do. Also, Plague is considered a pretty strong killer as far as I know. Especially after her last buffs.

But it could still become troublesome. I am still excited for the ptb, as drastic changes like these at least mix up DBD a bit more, which has become a bit stale for me lately.

Wraith counter is now reduced to "pre-drop every pallet on the map and hope he doesn't mind game you". That's it. Hag trap removals are now a time waster and nothing more. Nurse, who as you say is OP in your opinion, needs counters besides "hope your mid-chase juke works". I've found blinding her out of a blink in chase with a teammate to be invaluable to balancing matches against skilled Nurses.

I'm not a top tier killer. I play both roles 50/50. It's never been easier to get a 3-4k ever since 6.1, and I'm afraid it's only going to get worse. The camping, tunneling, and slugging have drastically increased since then as well, which prompted me personally to play more killer than survivor because I was tired of being griefed. No Gen, No Heal Legions have also seen a drastic rise, with my longest match against one of them being over an hour and everyone being left to bleed out after only repairing one generator (and I have to say and that instance, my teammates were not inept noobs; everyone was working very hard to get out of the match but we just couldn't.)

I don't wish games like that on anyone for either side. Hopefully some of these changes will be reversed because I do not see the health of the game improving after this.

We'll see. I for one am excited for more drastic changes. But some changes might be too much. Perhaps it would be enough to increase healing to 20 seconds, instead of 24 for example.

I do think camping will need to be addressed before this patch goes live. If survivors need longer to heal, the hook phase duration 100% needs to be increased to at least 70 seconds, or BHVR is going to cause some very troubling gameplay.

I disagree when it comes to Wraith though, he definitely still has enough counterplay. The healing nerf just might make him a bit too strong, with his high movement speed.

  • I am excited to see how this will play out. But I feel like 20 seconds would have been enough. Or simply nerfing medkits to 24 seconds. I don't know.

But it's an interesting approach, nerfing the best gen regression perks, and instead allowing killer to slow down the game themselves more, by spreading damage. The only potential problem here is as mentioned, that survivors might just now want to heal at all anymore.

So I could definitely see BHVR toning the healing time down to 20 seconds.

  • This nerf is surely also because of the nerf to healing. So it might be fine, now that killers can slow down matches more by injuring survivors, provided survivors still have enough reason to heal.

  • This is probably my biggest worry. Camping will be buffed yet again indirectly with these healing nerfs.

I do like these drastic changes however, they actually get me excited about a game that has become a bit stale for me at the moment. This will shift the meta, and I can't wait to see it. But there are certain issues that will most likely arise from these changes, which will hopefully be addressed.

With this nerf to healing, it will now finally be time to increase the hook phase duration of survivors. I think BHVR will be in trouble if they don't do so. They also really need to look into Deadlock before this patch hits live servers real bad.

It's weird how BHVR still seems to overlook camping as much as they do. They need to address camping as well with such drastic changes, in no way can that strategy receive another indirect buff again, that would be horrible.

The reason I am hopeful is that the 6.1.0 update also received some nice changes before it went live, so I hope the same will happen here again.

  • Pain Resonance nerf seems like overkill to me, and it is a bit of a shame. On the other hand, considering the big healing nerf, I can understand why it was nerfed so noticeably. We will have to wait and see how things play out in the ptb and when the changes hit live.
