It is probably going to be worse given they are, for whatever reason, going to nerf Barbecue. New players are going to have quite the grind ahead of them for Wesker.
Noobs complain about the aura reading on bbq, even though there are 4 ways to counter it. You can bet they will remove that, even though it gets the killer away from the hook.

Once Dredge hits live servers boons will become irrelevant because of Pentimento + Shattered Hope / hex heavy builds.
Thrill of the Hunt encouraged killers to camp their hex totems instead of patrol gens and chase survivors. You can literally throw an entire match if you try defending one totem all match and that's the kind of play style old thrill promoted so that's partly why they changed it.
But yeah once shattered hope comes out survivors will probably run boons less and less. I'm more worried about a pentimento meta tbqh
you need 3 perks to get use out of pentimento... This means you have zero gen defence. It isn't hard to remember where you broke a totem or lit your boon, and it will be obvious where pentimento is if the killer uses shattered to break a boon and place it.
Again, please think of survivors that know the mechanics of the game instead of the middle ranks that are still learning how to look behind while being chased.
-
Boon totems are not allowed to have any downsides. They must be all gain and zero risk and heavily detrimental to killers because reasons?
Boons are some high ups baby that they refuse to nerf or accept they were an awful idea.
-
Trapper, Wraith and hag.
-
I played him once for a daily and it felt awful. He slams the breaks on hard, and it even cancels out the lunge if you do it to late.
Sad thing is he is still a noob stomper so expect more nerfs like a white outline while in stealth.
-
It is a unique reward that isn't cosmetic according to mods/ dev's
-
They nerfed coh?
It still seems to let a survivor heal themselves and can be constantly lit over and over. hmmmm
I see they made a perk to break totems that nobody will ever take. Perhaps that is so they can finger point and protect their baby instead of admitting they were wrong?

too much attention is being given to these "content creators". Can we start looking at the average gamer, rather than someone who has no-lifed DBD into a job - make no mistake, they carry water for BHVR
So who do you look at?
Billy bob who started yesterday and focus all balance on somebody clueless?

"Devs have actually mentioned on the forums that they're not just looking at the perks themselves, but also why they're meta and making adjustments to the game itself accordingly."
They referenced understanding why they're ran, not that they will be making adjustments to the game itself.
True. The problem is these are the devs that made the game and RCPD. Do you really think they will give a suitable solution to gen speed at the same time as deleting perks to deal with it?
It will take allot of work and way more effort than shifting some numbers.
-
I only use shards. This is why they will never make survivor first person and why we only really get killer cosmetics in the rift.
-
Name a killer perk that des something that can't be removed like a hex after these are gone.
-
@amazing_grace said:
Mandy has already mentioned in other posts that the distinct reward will not be cosmetic related. So presumably yes, we will be getting rewards for everyone.
Really? I wonder how it can be unique, but not cosmetic.
-
I think that if they do it, they better fix the cause instead of just removing the result.
Fixing the reason for gen defence will take more than adding 1 extra gen to do, or +10 seconds per gen. It also needs to be passive of gained in a way that doesn't require the killer to drop every chase to kick a gen.

I'm surprised whenever I see people write they don't care about the aura reading part or they only use BBQ for the double bp. Like I use the perk for the aura reading and with the double BP as a bonus. It's always nice to know where to go after hooking someone.
Though, they did say there were gonna look at why these meta perks were being used this much and make some changes to the base game. I could easily see them making BBQ basekit, since one of their goals is to encourage killers to camp and tunnel less and BBQ is perfect at that.
Its still nice to have the aura so it isn't just 100% wasting a slot for bp.

That would work. Can't see it though. But I'd be good with that.
It would need to be equal to the 64k that bbq offers or it is a hard nerf.

For the love of The Entity, I hope this means that the BBQ BP bonus is getting baked in baseline.
Probably remove the aura part and leave it as bp only.
We all know, standing behind a gen, getting in a locker or getting within 40m were not enough counters to this devastating perk. /s

The closest we can say for right now is that we're hoping to release it sometime this summer.
Is p3 required or is having every perk unlocked on a p0 character the same?
-
Can't wait for them to delete all gen defence perks and then watch the kill statistics drop below 50% :)
-
I don't want another legacy.
I got full p3 billy, but all my other characters from back then only have a single piece of legacy because i did the correct thing and spread my points around instead of only playing a single character.
I got punished for doing the right thing. I don't want this to happen again to other people.

@Sumnox said:
Don't you realise it's both? Why do you think those survivors play the way they play? And of course the killer who plays against them will also camp, tunnel and be generally toxic in return.
Who was first? egg/chicken scenario. We don't know who started it, probably back in 2016 because survivors were by far the power role (not anymore) they were the ones who made it their fun to ridicule the killer, especially SWF. From there, killers got more and more toxic as well, and the snowball effect started.
If I had to guess, it was SWF that started the cycle, and this is what we have now in 2022.
But it's not survivors lately. it's both.
The answer is simple.
Back in 2017 one side designed a program to blackmail the other side into playing the way they want by threatening to block them. Developers actually had to step in because it became such a huge problem.
back in 2016-2017, one side ran things called infinites and told the other to get some skill when they complained about it.
To this day, look at the profile of any killer that plays to win vs any survivor and read the comments.
There is no chicken and egg.

um that’s not true. I played during pyramid heads time and the M2 to M1 was never reported to be a bug. There was not one dev post and not one comment from a mod saying it was a bug. I’ve played pyramid head since he came out and he never had a cooldown.
Feel free to sort through Otzdarvas vods to find him saying the bug is still there the day they nerfed pyramidhead. He even shows it on stream.

survivors might not win every chase against them but they should atleast have some form of counterplay besides doing gens. There was literally nothing to do. Before slingers nerf his ads was .15 seconds. It was humanly impossible to dodge his spear in real time it’s completely impossible. PH when he planted his knife at windows you had 2 situations get hit through window or fake it and he hits you with M1 there was no way to counter that.
Survivors should have some counterplay to some chases and not completely lose the game. Nurse and blight are extremely strong killers but there counterplay is so fun and engaging that it balances out they have ways to deal with them. Like dodging the blinks or rushs or timing pallet stuns.
Fun fact. Pyramid head was bugged on release, and the ability to plant the sword and instantly m1 out of it was a bug. Tell me you don't play killer without telling me.
He always had a cooldown. The incessant whining and rage quits from survivors made bhvr increase it and then they figured out it was a bug but never changed it back because the bug was still there after the nerf for a day or two.
-
That isn't the plague. Where is the rot?

Thats why some people like me WANTED a "working" matchmaking, to bring core mechanical balance issue to light.
But we also NAIVELY hoped that the devs could pick up the pace to correct those surfacing issue.
It shouldn't be a surprise how naive that kind of thinking was/is with these kind of devs and their speed of development AND sense for balance. But mostly their glacial speed.
If we every see the day that they make swf and solo equal, it will also be the apocalypse for this game since killer can't expect counterbalance changes earlier than 6 months into the future and might leave all together.
I doubt they are going to fix it. The language that has been used around higher ranks points to them not giving a ........
Whenever they talk about high level dbd they say things like "only a SMALL portion of the playerbase will be affected" and their focus seems to be on the middle ranks.
-
Why would you feel bad for losing in a game balanced and designed against you?
Just play whoever you want and turn off chat so survivors can't inflate their already bulbus ego's.
-
This will be interesting.
-
You already have 50 chances and voice chat. why do you deserve to wiggle off after the killer catches you?
There are already problems with hooks on some maps. You can create entire dead zones just because you sacrificed one survivor, and you better believe survivors exploit it, when don't they exploit bad game design? (SWF, Haddonfield fences, map offerings)
-
Blight. Way to much effort and wear on the mouse feet.
Deathsligher. Feels awful and slow.
Legion. Their sound guy is deaf and turned the music up way to loud and something about it makes my and other peoples ears ring.
Artist. Clunky and slow
Twins... it's twins.
Wraith, Nerfed, slow, clunky and not viable any more.
That's about it really.
-
He suffers from the I lost purely based on having to walk from point a to point b problem
-
It doesn't need to be a window.
It can be a chair, a rock, a table, a pebble. If anything is in-front of the survivor when they crouch, you will miss.

I noticed you're only mentioning survivor perks and no killer perks, add-ons, etc, even though I mentioned things for both sides - so I'm not going to entertain this biased reply with any attempt at debate lol.
What does the killer have that i can't just ignore?
I am playing survivor and i just don't see the issue you seem to have.
-
I like how people say it isn't that powerful and nothing will change if they get rid of it. And yet there is all this anger about it with examples of how it "isn't op" and that it is just a nice QOL thing.
Someone made a vid where they counted just how many times they used it in a normal match. It gave them 3 downs which is allot of pressure they should not have gotten

I honestly think bhvr was hoping death garden would take off and they could wash their hands with dbd. Then garden flopped and they reluctantly went back to their only cash cow.
DG was awful. They either made the game a nightmare for the hunter where people figured out you could just stun lock them. or the hunter had to much freedom and dominated the runners, practically requiring coms to have a hope of winning.

Ok i have to ask. Since this is the first time, that i hear the term "hug tech". What is it exactly?
Bump into a wall or rock, scooch up close to it and look down for a split second, rush again and you will slide along that object instead of bouncing. Now you can hit that survivor on the other side of the rock or what ever and they won't have time to react with speed addons.
-
That's the point. They want you to BUY these characters with real money.
-
There isn't a simple fix that will be fair for both parties that won't require at least an afternoon of programming and taking funds from skin makers.
The ONLY solution is
- Longer gen times.
- change the hook mechanic to entity stations where it consumes the survivor and dangles them somewhere random on the map.
- fix perks to work with entity stations.
- fix map spawns with actual logic to the tiles and make more tiles. 6 years of the same layouts is not good.
-
WHO CARES.
Do what you need to do to win because it is clearly the intention of the developers who can't be bothered to actually program anything or do anything other than make skins.
Tunnel, camp, play basement bubba. The more that do this the better.
6 Years of the same base game with zero changes other than bandaid fixes.

This is what happens when you have both sides screaming out for nerfs to any and all good perks, powers, items, add-ons, etc.
Yes, some tweaks here and there are needed. But any time either side gets something somewhat interesting (new or changed), everyone loses their minds - and they more often than not get nerfed back into oblivion.
What was fun about RPD boil over?
What is fun about COH for the killer?
What is fun about the boon mechanic in general?
How was old DS "fun" watching someone do a gen in your face while fully protected?
How was pallet vacuum fun?
How were infinites fun?
Face it. You can't make any perks worthwhile, while the current meta is as strong as it is. You don't replace busted with busted. There are plenty of good perks, they just require more effort or random chance than pressing E to outplay.
Buckleup, Breakout, Dance with me, Lucky break, Lithe, Sprintburst, All the old healing perks, Power struggle, Any means necessary. Why take any of these strong but not guaranteed perks that would add randomness and spice to the gameplay. When you can just chuck on BT, DS, Dead hard, COH, IW and always get potentially game changing use out of them?

Deadlock literally saves progress on the most completed gen for later unless paired with another perk that can cause regression through it.
I know. The person i responded to said there were heaps of uncounterable killer perks, and that's the closest thing i could thin of, because they can't stop that gen being blocked.

There is nothing survivors can do againts a lot of the killers perks either, so not even a valid point. Make sure your arguments make sense at least
Name them.

Hate how they say they don't do stealth nerfs. But then we have maps like this that display the stealth nerf to hooks they did after a flood of "wiggle does nothing" complaints from noobs.

Don't they call it "walking the dog" when being chased by the killer?
Blame bhvr for making survivor easy.

^ this.
Before CoH you can easily say the game was the easiest it has ever been for KIllers. And even after the release of CoH, it is not really hard.
@Topic:
The Devs dont need to play Killer at a medium level. Sometimes I question if Killer Mains on the Forum even play on a Medium Level when I read some complaints.
And well, thanks to one Dev who likes to play it, there will probably never be any changes to NOED. So, there is something good (for Killers) that the Devs are not Pros at their game. (But they also dont need to be... They have more knowledge of game design than every Forum Warrior, all people in this thread included).
You really like to harp on about NOED. thing is i only saw it once while doing the challenges at a level where killers should be using it.
Dead hard though? usually 3/4 to 4/4 using it.
-
We know, but this game is made for low rank survivors with killers just existing. Maps are a huge problem in this game, but they refuse to acknowledge it and for some odd reason think its fine. Just look at eyre of crows and the game.
