'Viable' =/= 'never loses'.
'Viable' also =/= 'brokenly overpowered'.
Viable means you can contest even the toughest games. DbD is both snowbally and extremely dependent on map and RNG.
Nope. Viable means it is on the survivors to make me make a mistake instead of the killer waiting for them to make a mistake.

It's both. For me. There's nothing more frustrating then having a mind game robbed because of the e key. I'd rather get greeded for one more loop then robbed at something as strong as the shack. I can't wait to see what the devs do with the perk
Prediction.
Removing e for distance and tacking it onto a successful miss with the i frames. If you swing and they E they get a sprint burst. If they E and you don't swing then they just run for a bit before becoming vulnerable.

So yes, Huntress, Artist...there we have two more 'viable' killers, even by your ever-shifting goalposts. You can go watch Ayrun and co. to see how lethal a good Plague, Hag, Oni and Pyramid Head can be too (one of the best survivors in the world, and he sometimes get shattered by these killers). Hell, even a cracked Billy can do good work at the MMR cap.
Nurse and Blight can also be map dependent. Lery's, for example, can be absurdly bad for Nurse due to how the doodads mess up her teleports and both Swamp and Eyrie can be very tough for Blight due to the inconsistent hitboxes and collision.
Don't whatabout. You said that only two killers were viable. I already said that, yes, there are also killers that need buffs - but that's not what we were talking about.
There are only two viable ones. Huntress still gets obliterated by any coordinated team as seen on coconut's streams. He was going mad when mmr came out.

You're being ridiculous.
I watch a good few streamers, and I see as many Huntresses kicking butt as I do Blights and Nurses. I've even seen Huntresses do brilliantly in tourney play. Artist is another killer that can be nigh unstoppable in the hands of a good player.
yes, range killers being used by people that live on them like coconutrts (obvious streamer you refer to) and artist who can shoot through everything. What about the other m1 and nerfed trash?
huntress is map dependant.

You missed out on so much bp.

She wont be destroyed, she just needs some balancing. Whether that's adding more cooldown on her blinks, making blink attacks not count towards basic attacks, idk. But she certainly needs her addons majorly adjusted.
Hell no to extra cooldown. Her base is fine and offers plenty of counterplay. The addons are what tips the scale because any mindgame you do is soon nullified by recharge and range.
all this talk about increasing cd or changing her m1 or lunge range is awful.

Huh?
'Only one or two viable options'...no.
There are 2 S+ killers, but that's not 'viable'. Nurse has a kit that scales infinitely with skill, Blight has...honestly pretty OP addons, to the point that several need reigning in.
Beyond this, you have the S and A tiers. Huntress, Plague, Oni, Spirit, Artist, Hag, Twins. One of which you'll as much of as Nurse, two that you'll see plenty of on high MMR streams doing well, and four that are extremely powerful but just rare due to their idiosyncratic kids (but still absolutely viable at even the highest MMRs).
Below this, you have the 'B' tier, all of which can definitely be viable with sufficient skill, good perks and addons. Demo, Cenobite, Billy and Bubba immediately come to mind.
There are plenty of viable killers, which is not to say that there aren't also killers that need some help, and that a lot of killers wouldn't benefit from some tweaks.
That said - DbD has probably peaked. It's not a young game anymore. It'll keep going for a good long while, but short of another massive franchise killer released at the same time as a big event, you aren't going to see 100k again.
Just to be clear. I'm not saying you can't win on these killers. But it wasn't because of anything YOU did., It wasn't your skill.

You've clearly never been on a videogame forum before. I used to play a lot of Starcraft 2 and it was literally 'lul you think Terran overpowered, get to my level and you'll see they are weak' from Diamond 3 players to Diamond 2 players.
Secondly - new people's impressions of the game are absolutely vital. If a killer is absolutely rampaging through lowbies, then that's cause for alarm - because those are the people that, a year, could be faithful veterans, and if their experience is miserable you'll lose them.
Of course you can't balance entirely around low MMR (see: Wraith) but it has to be a consideration.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3012900#Comment_3012900
I'd love to be able to see my own.
Outside of that - I don't care at all.
But then you get what we have now in DBD because they do listen to new players. A severely neutered cast of killers with only one or two viable options for veterans and a miserable experience for all but low to mid where people are still learning what the space bar does.
We have the reverse where new players stay, spend money, get good, get bored because end game is so simple or impossible then quit.
There is a rise in nerf Nurse threads because SBMM is showing people how bad the other killers are when it shoves them against equally or better skilled survivors and they are giving up and playing the only viable options.

I mean, yeah, obviously. They were tired of people complaining about their rank matchmaking not working, so they hide the matchmaking metrics now. Like, that was pretty much their stated reason for doing it, rather than actually fixing the matchmaking.
MMR caps at 1700 and starts to mix people. If you could see your mmr then people probably would be on here complaining because they would get a backfilled 3200 mmr SWF against their newly reached 1700 mmr killer.

You're giving an excellent example of the kind of attitude that showing MMR would foster, and that sensible people would want to avoid.
Explain how my day one opinion on balance should be taken seriously then? Do we need to nerf wraith again?
-
@StarLost said:
Most games do, for a few reasons.
- People get really elitist. Show it pregame, and it's wall to wall lobby shopping. Show it on the forums and it's 'well your opinion doesn't matter because you're at a pitiful 950 and I'm at 965'. I have no issues with showing it postgame.
- It allows savvy people to learn how to manipulate the system.
I have no issue with showing it postgame, but it's probably just not a priority.
no.. Nobody would dismiss someone that close to them. That kind of attitude is shown to people at say 100 vs people at 1200 because the person at 100 literally has zero idea what they are talking about and it is the correct reaction to just dumpster anything they say.
New peoples opinions on balance factually do not matter.

The majority of killers aren't M1 killers though. This game has a lot of strong killers.
Neither Artist or Dredge are anywhere near low tier as well. Nemesis, and arguably Pinhead, as well. Only Onryo was the latest killer that ended up in low tier.
Eh.. Dredge is quite meh once you know how he works. At the end of the day he is just an M1 killer. Not as bad as Sadako, but still, just way to much counterplay.
This isn't even from the killers perspective, this is from the survivor perspective because that's all i have played the last two days thanks to the queue times.
-
Can only do so much with such a simple game.
If they want better perks then they need to change the base game to be more than Shift W and Space on a pallet.
-
Op doesn't know how to lock lockers and W hold if the dredge uses their power.... I have faced him a total of 5 times since his release, and i am playing more survivor since all the survivor mains are on killer for bp and clogging the queue. At the end of the day he is still just a basic m1 killer and not that strong.
-
You should never get to a point where survivors have dead zones on gideon before all the gens are done. If you do, then they didn't hold m1 for some reason.

Guess well see in a couple weeks if killers are back on the forums mad about sb or not... Which spoiler alert they will be.
Only because bhvr have been introducing op buildings. SB was an issue back when infinites existed because everyone and their kitchen sink would use SB to get to it.
No what have they been doing hmm...
Garden of joy main building
Haddonfield houses
grim pantry upstairs
Groaning storehouse
the saloon
The entire game map
all super safe and permanent loops that waste a lot of time.
A well used Dead hard still wastes more time then sb and saves you from mistakes. but if they don't sort these buildings out, it will be like 2016-2017 again.
-
We already have a bunch of killers that you can W hold and space to win. Even dredge has massive flaws when survivors learn to counter him and has already dropped off my list of killers to play.
-
I hope it is an actual change and not just removing one of two evils.

I think you misunderstand.
A hardcap on how fast the blink time can be inside of a certain meter range.
So you want it to take longer to charge and longer to blink?
The cap is a maximum 1.5s travel time. You can't fit 30m into that time without going faster.
-
@Tizzle said:

It needs to be scaled with a hardcap in place, similar to the turning radiuses of Blight and Oni.
It already is.

It's not fair to say that at all. We have no idea what the perk changes even look like, and they've said they're going to make base changes, aka compensation
Yeah... Bhvr's version of compensation might amount to a 30s corrupt basekit... So, nothing.

And why Ghost face has printer again? I hate it so much.
The music for legion has issues with some people. I and others had ringing ears after they changed it. LEAVE IT ALONE. You want it louder? crank up the volume.
-
NO..... please god no... go blow your eardrums up with your own music on 100%. leave this alone.
-
I hope they destroy Dead hard, but it looks like they are keeping the i frames and rewarding distance if you actually make the killer miss. We know the game can track this because we have challenges related to making the killer miss a swing.
It will still be a problem

I mean you also have basekit snuffing at your disposal and a brain to actually make decisions to try to outplay your opponents
Wow... It's almost like you only play one half of this game. What are you going to say next?
Just bait the Dead Hard?
Infinites take skill?
Just break the pallet?
-
I still don't understand why people are finding this difficult to understand... It's actually really simple if you actually think about it without your hatred giving you smooth brain.
Stagnant blink time + longer distance = faster blink. They are not going to do some fancy coding where it keeps the old blink speed and then suddenly change the speed after it passes the 20m mark. That would feel awful.
-
SB complaints will only happen if they make main building overpowere.... oh wait, Garden of joy, Haddonfield, Groaning storehouse, grim pantry top floor.
Yeah there will be complaints. It will be like the old days where everyone just sprints to the infinite.
-

Dude, where the hell did all these Nurse threads come from?
More people re playing nurse because they keep nerfing the other killers. Now people want nurse gutted because she went from 1/50 to 1/20 matches.
It was the same with wraith. the buffed him and more people played him. And with that came the nerf demands.

Pretty Ironic since they actually are still bugged.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/Z9IIJH3PGZJH/image.png
"so the blink speed increases to get the extra distance within that time."
Then why does it increase blink speed for blinks travelling less than 20m? When blinking 10m, there's no additional distance from base nurse being made, but the added speed is there anyway.
Because of it increasing short blink speeds and not just for blinks past 20m, it should say in the description "increases blink movement speed".
Draw a graph with a straight line and there is your answer. you have 1.5s to fit 30m in instead of 20m in. They are not going to code base blink speed and then a sharp increase for the last 10m imagine the bugs that would introduce.

I'm still trying to find some sort of data/explanation of the difference in hitboxes based on when you press M1 after a blink if anyone can help me out with a link?
IF a survivor is touching a rock, their hitbox becomes said rock, fence, wall.
Nurse also seems to record whatever she is looking at the moment you start the lunge. So if you are facing a wall and the survivor spins, then it will hit said wall.
Survivor hitboxes have also become super sensitive after the update and will block the nurse, even out in the open or during drops if you blink where the survivor is/ will be, the game will force you to blink in place. Especially near rocks and boxes for some reason. I tried to overblink a survivors dead hard out in open space and just stayed in place because they E buttoned exactly where i would have landed.

similar to how killers point at perks like Detectives Hunch or Small Game when they complain about noed?
Not even close. Plus you have 16 perks walkie talkies and basekit totem breaking at your disposal. Killers have 4 perk slots and are nerfed into being useless and weak.

Why should you be able to avoid a perk that the killer could not use all game and have an on demand instant door open?
Stuff like this is why people say bhvr have zero idea what they are doing.

FOV slider would be pointless, because everyone would simply set it to max so that they have the larges FOV, maximum information.
If they did have a FOV slider, the max would be whatever they deemed to be the greatest FOV you should get without costing a perk slot. i.e. it would be the current FOV, and the slider would only allow you to reduce it.
That said, the default FOV is strangely small for killer. It should be a little wider (but not quite Shadowborn levels).
The main issue is having survivors crouched directly in front of me and them not showing up on my screen at all. As long as that was prevented, it'd be a wide enough FOV.
Dev's think this a fun and highly skilled mechanic for the survivors to use.. Good luck ever seeing killer fov changed.

Like...would you like to be on the other end of this, and do you think that's healthy for the state of the game, at a time when a lot of newer people are going to be playing?
Secondly, who suggested a player based auto-ban? I don't think I've ever seen this even asked for?
Thirdly...if you're going to go out of your way to be nasty to people, at least bring a damn flan.
BHVR mentioned implementing it in a stream.
