I have to agree that killer is pretty easy right now, and that comes from someone who mains one of the weaker killers in the game (Trapper). The only thing giving me trouble atm are the bugged chests handing out keys left and right, but that's exactly that - a bug.

Breakable walls and redesigning of problematic buildings have made chases easier than before and while gens sometimes fly by, it's also easier to generate pressure when survivors have less bullshit loops to run and are easier to down.

If you don't have issues on trapper then i wish i had your survivors.

Mine constantly disarm traps ahead of chases or whenever they have free time. And yeah.. i know where to place them.

Let me start by saying that I'm not a frequent flyer of this forum. In fact, I've literally never been here before and I just created an account to write this post begging the devs to please, PLEASE stop buffing killer.

I'm a killer main. I've always been a killer main. But I don't play killer anymore.

Why? Because it's just too easy. Laughably easy, to the point of being boring. It feels like I can mindlessly tunnel survivors, hardly ever use perks or abilities, give no thought to strategy and still rank up.

I came here to share my opinion, and I didn't even have to look 5 posts down to find other players writing about the same thing. So I know I'm not crazy for thinking this or the only person who has noticed a significant shift in balance with the last few updates.

I'm not sure what the impetus is for all the recent changes favoring killers and making life harder for survivors, and like I said I'm not the kind of player who's constantly on forums keeping up with news and posts from the devs. So if that information is already out there somewhere, please enlighten me. But this is the theory I have come up with...

In the past, survivor and killer were fairly balanced. However, at the higher ranks, survivors tended to play in premade teams using Discord, giving them a significant advantage compared to the way the game was designed to be played (without voice chat). The game was no longer balanced at the higher ranks, survivors won more often than killers, and maybe killer became less popular as a result. In order to counteract the apparent imbalance, the devs decide to implement patch after patch full of buffs for killers and nerfs for survivors, and now we are where we are today.

In my opinion, this was the wrong approach. Killer is now way too easy in standard matchmaking, and even when you "lose" a game (3 or 4 survivors escaping) you'll generally still get enough points to not lose pips. Hell, you can even sometimes still gain pips even though you lost.

If I'm correct and the reason for the killer buffs is to attempt to nullify the advantage of voice chat used by high rank survivor teams, then the only way you can ever make that fair is to put voice chat in the game as a standard feature for survivor players. I get that it ruins the immersion, but without that there will always be a discrepancy/imbalance between whether or not the survivors are using voice chat.

A second (and perhaps better) solution would be to rework the pip system for survivors to incentivize play that actually wins games. Combine Evader and Unbroken together into one emblem, then add a second emblem related to gen progress. For example, Lightbringer could be left how it is (points granted based on individual player's percentage of the team's total gen progress) with the second generator emblem being shared among the whole team based on the team's total gen progress so that survivors who distract the killer while their teammates do gens (especially if they are keeping the killer busy primarily through stealth/hiding and not spending much time in a chase) still get credit for helping the team. This would also solve the problem of survivors getting punished with low points/pips when they have a great game where they are never or rarely found/caught/hooked by the killer. Because let's be honest... Gen progress is what wins games for survivors, but it's not what gets you pips. Right now there's way too much incentive for people to everything EXCEPT gens, and people who are focused on actually winning the game (prioritizing gen progress over Altruism/Evader/Unbroken points) get punished with fewer pips.

But yeah, anyway... Regardless of what you guys think the solution is, the current state of the game ain't it. It's ridiculous how many terrible killers I see running around at rank 1 and 2 because it's so easy for them to win right now (or still earn pips even when they lose). And for those of us who actually know how to play killer well, it's just not fun anymore when I don't even have to strategize at all or make any kind of creative use of my perks/abilities/add-ons... I just mindlessly run at people and M1, and even on the rare occasion that the survivors escape I still get enough points to get pips. In other words: boring as hell.

    /endrant

The emblem system was designed to incentivise survivors to interact with the killer. Without it every game would end in 4 minutes as the depip squad recently showed.

Killers are still weak if survivors don't care about pips or have coms.

  • Nothing needs changing.

If you are talking about OhTofu here, he even states in his Streams that playing Killer is boring for him. That does not mean that it sucks, it became too easy so that good players like Tofu really dont have any challenge anymore. (EDIT: @CakeDuty was faster, lol)

Let alone that most Killer Main-Streamers also enjoy playing Survivor.

    MMR will change that attitude.

  • They need the permission of the console makers and allowing this will lose them money so cross progression will never happen.

Did you know that some problems are more ✨complex✨ than others?

To be fair this has been known for more than a year and officially known for a year. No matter how complex something is it should not take a year to do it if they were serious.

Just look at colour blind settings. They sat on it until they were going to get really really bad press over the issue. I doubt they would be in the game if that never happened.

  • @MeltingPenguins said:

Projectile Killers, not counting huntress, have a hitDOT, not a hitBOX.

I have seen spears, knives and vomit go right through my survivor or others and not take any damage, yet when things hit the wall half the map way it hits?

I did this and the survivor waved at me to spear them because it was so bs lol.

  • Killers are not abusing anything. Survivors are refusing to run the perk and choosing to make the game more of a challenge.

If you touch a gen, you are not being tunnelled. If you heal in a corner, you are not being tunnelled. If you go for a save, you are not being tunnelled.

  • A 3 gen happens the second you load into the game if the killers goal is to cause it. It is not the survivors fault and it is a 3 gen game even when 5 gens are still up.

The moment i see a doc do this i give them the minimum points possible and point at a hook, struggle and move on to something else. they get nothing from me and if everyone did this they would never pip and be starved of blood points.

  • I shot a survivor on midwich as Deathslinger and they threw their arms up and everything... but kept running.

Reminder that for the cosmetic contest one of the guidelines was to make character-appropriate outfits.

    https://twitter.com/DeadByBHVR/status/1374073443830861833

A bathrobe / karate outfit is very clearly appropriate for a botanist / science nerd.

If you are going to a job interview for a position that requires botany knowledge remember to dress exactly like Claudette does in that skin or you will not get the job. A blue bathrobe / karate outfit is the only appropriate thing for a botanist to wear.

It is backlash from the Claudette cosmetic that everyone hated and they had to pull it and fix it. Personally i would have been happy with cargo pants like the image shows, not track pants like they gave her.

  • @Homemade_Cookies said:

BHVR is getting too familiar with locked cosmetics nowadays.

It doesn't look like a good sign...

Cheap and nasty to make while also costing more.

They require a fraction of the work to make because they don't need to be tested with anything else.

  • Console survivors are no different to pc survivors (apart from the urban ones) but their ping is trash tier and causes many issues with "aim dressing"

  • @EvanSnowWolf said:

That was insanely long loop though. I would not commit to that chase on ANY Killer.

The game shouldn't be this way though.

It is just bad design and makes the map dev look bad... oh yeah Gideon was approved my bad.

Pretty often. I remember at Twins release, they disappeared after 1-2 days. I still see plenty of Tricksters.

That is because the twins are not fun to play as or against. At least some people get entertainment from trixter even if they depip every game.

I'd be happy to just have a block list that prevents me from being matched up against certain players ever again. Yes, that could be abused too, but someone would have to be pretty damn unpopular to be blocked by SO many people that they couldn't still find matches. And if that WERE the case, then there would probably be a good reason for all the blocks.

It's not going to happen, so we just have to accept that instead of a block system being abused, we have to accept that the actual gameplay is being abused. Which is so much better.

Back when MLGA was a thing a streamer that only played nurse had hour long queue times because survivors kept blocking nurse players.

We don't need that back in the game.

She is the same speed as any other character, and the recovery speed is the same for any other character that has a movement power like, Legion, Nurse, or Oni.

Butt-hurt survivors always get snippy when people point out the obvious. If a Spirit is trying to fool you between a pallet or window, you have time to know if she is charging to phase. Any other time, you can hear her phasing. If you don't like it, get better. All people do is complain about Spirit. Its about predicting where surviors will run, or herding them-which all killers do.

I clearly have Spirit as my main, and I don't run Stridor. I don't get the fuss, any killer can use this perk, and unless a survivor is running Iron Will they make noise regardless-you don't need Stridor to hear them.

Lastly, she's not insanely fast in phase. She is the normal speed of a running survivor. And, there are addons that actually decrease her speed, such as the amulet.

Other killers don't drop chase music.

The chase music mutes survivors so the devs could make quiet chase themes like the doctors and have it not be op.

When spirit goes into phase the music stops and survivors become LOUD.

    Doesn't have any weaknesses?

Los blockers and mindgames screw her over.

    Stealth destroys her.

    Her power is extremely punishing.

Her base movement speed is 80% of a survivors, meaning she has to use her power.

She has plenty of counterplay aswell.

Tell that to the spirit who had the sound so loud that they pinpointed my location at the start of the game while in phase and i wasn't moving...

  • She does need a change, but what?

If you can see her in phase then she will be worse than trixter.

If she can't hear you she will be worse than trixter.

She needs an overhaul into another killer or for chase music / new phase music to play during phase so she can't track as easily. That's the only thing i can think of to make her more fair.

  • @PGJSF said:

Okay guys not to play devil’s advocate but op has a point. In fact, I couldn’t find a single game as killer since MMR went on. We’re talking about 20-30 minutes waiting only to see a “ failed matchmaking “ message. That’s actually why I started playing survivor.

I got instant games and the players were at my level instead of m1 bum rush squads.

  • She is second to hag on the boring scale.

Hag catches someone and doesn't leave the area while making eye contact with the hook every 5 seconds.

Spirit with good hearing in struggle on hook and move to the next game.

And basically refuse to take feedback despite how bad trickster / twins was.

And how bad the first time it was release? Hell no,

I can't commend this. SBM should never be added. It would just be unfun to even play killer since all i would get are Sweats.

    #########. That.

If you are that good then thats what you deserve, especially spirit

  • There is nothing balanced about 90% of the loops in this game.

You just stand at the corner and stare through the many gaps and openings for the killer or the handy dandy glow that also goes through solid walls.

At least an SWF match you can play the game. Being camped literally doesn’t allow you to play

Not really. they either rush the gens in 4 minutes if you are good or toy with you for bp and plan everything.

Boring stale and predictable with an expected outcome.

I’ve had many killers dodge my solo lobby with us all readied up. It means nothing really

Best thing to do is not worry who’s playing with who and just play the match out

SWF matches are the most boing thing this game has to offer. Being camped on the hook is more entertaining.

    Even before the DS.

  • @TheClownIsKing said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/239859/why-cant-trapper-be-better

That’s the point. You’re not meant to expect that you can prevent the first 1 or 2 gens to be repaired early in the match.

You’re meant to identify the best areas to turn into death zones with your traps. A Trapper is meant to be threatening and grow in lethality mid/late game.

It’s all too easy to get caught up in Trappers weaknesses, whilst overlooking that Trapper is one of the few killers in the game that can injure survivors without being anywhere near a survivor, or end chases without having started one to begin with. It’s easy to forget just how strong an ability it is when survivors accidentally stumble into a trap.

This would be fine if you couldn't just call out trap locations and disarm them in 1 second. At least with hag you can't do squat about her traps without an item that nobody ever has.

It takes someone out of the game yeah but they can just load into another one. Its like the concept of losing 1 match is so bad.

Not if they are swf. But rhatbis on them for choosing to cheat over playing as intended :)

  • Once the killer starts the animation they should get the grab no matter how stupid it looks.

  • It is kinda bad when survivors can do it on purpose.

  • Even with the trap change survivors mostly get out in one or 2 attempts. I swear they said the update would make this highly unlikely.

  • Just downrank to yellow and you will easily get it.

If the SWF was of equal rank to me I would complain less, though they still have a huge advantage. What makes it worse it’s they always place me against red ranks SWF sweat squads. Even if I wanted to get better that’s not teaching me anything. It’s like tossing a middle school football player into the NFL and telling him “git gud.” It’s better to DC in my opinion cause if enough people complain about killers DCing against SWF either they will punish SWF, which seems unlikely, or punish Killers harder, which seems more likely. Honestly I’m fine with either. Cause if they punish killers more then more killers will leave and their game will suffer hard. Then they will actually have to think up a solution.

Most swf will be red rank because of the advantage it gives.

There are not enough killers to give them a game so the devs esentially remove match making once they wait to long.

  • I had a survivor do this when i was carrying someone to a hook and f me it was one of the most annoying things i have had to deal with.

They died... i made sure they died.

  • @OutcastAndrew said:

@TheClownIsKing Sure, but like any game, if you just chase, kick, chase, kick for too long the game is over. There aren't playable pallets so you just have to play mindless. I don't see how "have 10 unplayable pallets" isn't an issue in your eyes

Because he plays clown and slows survivors down.

  • Survivors will start to run it again. It has already saved me many times because the killers are getting use to it not being used from this weird protest going on.

  • 10 matches in a row of people being downed at the hook and going straight back on when ds would have let them escape.

  • The way the game currently works is this

SWF on coms have at minimum 2 people on gens at all times with one going on the hook and one inside bbq range ready to save. The ones on far gens make themselves obvious to bait and they just rotate for 5 minutes and escape.

This is why slugging and the occasional proxy camp are needed to draw survivors off the gens for any chance to play the game as killer.

  • You can avoid most of his knives by doing a small wiggle as you run.

  • SWF ruins everything in this game.

It has happened multiple times where i will kill a survivor in a 2 man and the other will go afk at a hook or DC.

  • Let him hit you and dead hard over his trap.

  • To much junk of the map to get 8 hits with the knives.

  • @MadLordJack said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2071673#Comment_2071673

People want Deathslinger to have counterplay that isn't predropping pallets and holding W, especially since that tactic doesn't even work against a good Slinger. It certainly never worked against me back when I could actually aim.

Killers shouldn't always be able to get a quick, guaranteed hit. That's just not fair and it's just not healthy. All it encourages is genrushing. Survivors need to have something to do in a chase that isn't wildly guess and hope the killer screws up. With Blight, the only place that exists is in short loops, because he is forced to play them as a basic killer. And the survivor is forced to play them because if they run, they get hit extremely quickly. Suddenly the chase becomes interactive instead of one-sided.

Except his exploit completely removes that and, at best, replaces it with a killer-sided guess.

But now survivors have something to do against a killer in chase AND gen rushing. how is this fair on the killer?

They made it clear that they are never going to fix the gen problem.

  • @MadLordJack said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2071093#Comment_2071093

Actually, it should. Because he can still play those tiles as an m1 killer, a perfectly viable and completely interactive piece of gameplay. If anyone thinks Blight is weak because he can't use his power in shorter junk tiles, then they're getting outplayed. As they should be.

Peole want 100% counterplay to deathslinger in an open field. Do you think that is a good design to aim for?

I am all for blight being changed, but if you make the cp so basic that yoi can pull it off at any time and anywhere like in the middle of the corn field, that is bad design.

The lunge needs to be 90 to 110 degrees.

I have tried console blight and that turn is to small.
