Personally I'd go for FNAF, if only because I'm more into the it than Alien.
That said, I'm not sure either why there's been such a surge of people wanting Springtrap. The only explanation to me is because of the recent acquisition of another video game killer with Pyramid Head.

Yeah, best thing to say, right? "You are new, i know better after 2000 hours and that's why my opinion is superior." And you know what? I'm not new. 50 hours is enough of my time investment in one game. I'm new with 5, maybe 10. Also i will never waste 2000 hours on that game. And i will not waste time to watch some streams. If game like this cant give enough feedback to player, it is badly designed. Simple as that. Lets be honest here, this is not MMO, roguelike, flight simulator or any other complex idea of a gameplay. Its simple.
Anyway, i know how this perk work. Don't treat me this way.
Also you should learn how to read.
...it is like talking to a brick wall over here. :-/
I don't have problem with perk, i know how it works, I DON'T KNOW THEY HAVE IT SO I CANT REACT TO IT.
Damn, it is really so hard to understand?
Let me put it this way, following your logic - You guys should always expect someone could sneak behind you and slap your head with baseball bat. You can duck, so you should be ducking all the time to prevent this from happening. And when i finally sneak behind you one day and hit you like that, you cant be mad at me, because you should expect i will do this, so it is your fault for not ducking this one time in the right moment.
If your primary issue is how do you know they are even using the perk so you can react to it, that's been answered too: You can't know, so assume they do.
There's no way to know what perks another person will bring into any given game, even other Survivors unless they tell you in pre-game chat or otherwise in contact with them. That said, you can expect Barbecue and Chili to be more common than others because of the blood point bonus it offers. I use it so much more for the points I often forget to check for auras. This means the best move is assuming they do have it until you can be reasonably sure they don't.
If the perk bothers you that much, and you have the option to do so, look into leveling Jeff for his Distortion perk. If it triggers after someone is hooked, you now know and can react accordingly.
-
I do that sort of thing all the time. I play Killer for points so once I have my Barbecue stacks and my non-sacrifice points maxed I'm fine with letting them go. If they catch on and want to farm, I'm all for it. Otherwise I'll just harass them for my own entertainment.
-
Dumb question for clarity's sake: Do you mean favorite as in what's funniest, or favorite add in which one(s) you actually follow?
-
I use Freddy when I'm playing casually/ just for points. I don't even load him up with a serious build. I use Distressing, Dark Devotion, Infectious Fright, and Barbecue and Chili and just have fun seeing how often i can get IF to trigger.

There are actually 2. One that copies Nurse's Calling and one that copies Stridor.
Demogorgon also has an add-on, Lifeguard Whistle, that's basically Mindbreaker on his portals.

Literally all the devs need to do is prevent it from stacking with Infantry Belt. You want instadown hatchets? You get one shot. Make it count.
@CrowFoxy said:
I don't want them to make it ranged based because then on some maps it becomes a basically useless add on.
Just make it not stack with the belt.
Not stacking with the extra hatchet add-ons seems like the simplest/best idea to me, too. I remember a streamer/ YouTuber, I forget who, used Iridescent Head but deliberately didn't use extra hatchets to be fair about it.
If it were range based I don't think letting it pair with the extra hatchets would be as bad. As noted, the Add-on could be rendered useless on the wrong map but you'd still have extra hatchets to compensate.
alternate ultra rare options:
get a lot more additional hatchets, but only far range hits can down survivors. Anything else can injure them, but downing them requires a sniper shot or a melee hit.
One like the Nurse add-on, where you get fewer hatchets but your base speed is buffed a little.
One like the Wraith's, where the Huntress' humming is completely removed.
-
Personally I like the idea of add-ons that mimic the Killer's teachables. I do agree that the restrictions seem overly tight, though, and weak for a green. Twenty seconds and only if no one is in your Terror Radius seems arbitrary. I can think of two perks this would pair with as-is, but it doesn't seem worth it.
Infectious Fright will tell you if it worked or not, while Furtive Chase would increase the odds of it working if you can get stacks on it.
That said, an Add-on version of Franklin's Demise, Survivors downed by the chainsaw drop their items, would be a better Teachable Add-on in my opinion. Especially since it could actually pair with Franklin's Demise the perk such that any hit would cause an item drop. Basic Attacks would kick in the perk, chainsaw hits would kick in the add-on.
-
An idea I'd had for the Legion, though I don't think it's feasible, is when multiple Survivors are afflicted with Deep Wounds, it summons bots of the other members of the Legion who pursue the Deep Wounded Survivor(s) the player isn't actively chasing.
They'll give chase, but their hits can only lower the Deep Wounds timer. They'll chase until one of three things happen: they down a Survivor, the Survivor manages to Mend, or a set amount of time passes.
It gives the Legion the unique ability to chase multiple Survivors, but in a way that doesn't seem too overpowered, since a bot- Legion would have to hit someone multiple times to bring them down. It might necessitate some changes to how Feral Frenzy works for balance sake, and it wouldn't answer the above issue of what if the Survivors split up.
The idea was inspired by a video describing how each Pac-Man ghost is programed to chase Pac-Man around.

Don't take it so seriously. The game becomes stressful if you let it. I'd suggest running meme builds since if you win, your a god. If you lose, then it's not a try hard build.
One that I love is Brutal Strength, Lightborn, Fire Up and Franklin's Demise. If you see multiple flashlights in a lobby this build is extremely fun. This messes up flashlight users muscle memory and will just be annoying for them.
For myself I've had fun using Freddy with Dark Devotion, Distressing, Infectious Fright, and Barbecue and Chili and using pallet add-ons.
Actually had someone get salty at me for the IF / BBQ combo despite, y'know, Freddy. But honestly I use IF less for tracking and more for the laugh of actually getting it to work.

Thanks! I am most definitely using whispers on him, because of how much value he gets from it.
I personally think of Whispers as a "Training Perk" for the Doctor. It's good for when you're learning when to use his Static Blast but if you're able to get a good sense of when to use it you won't need Whispers nearly as much and can swap it out for another perk.
-
Two tips about using his Static Blast:
Don't use it randomly. Try to save it for when you know a survivor is close (Whispers, you see them, etc). Odds are decent you'll get more than the one you're seeing.
Don't use it close to the edges of the map. It does you no good if it goes somewhere survivors can't possibly go.

No, because the cage disables BT and DS.. Duh
Which would be an issue if we were tunneling. You were talking about camping which I imagine, if done properly, prevents BT and DS from entering into it because you're supposed to be downing the rescuer before they can unhook in the first place.
-
Funny story for the heck of it: I recently had a survivor hey salty for using Infectious Fright alongside Barbecue & Chili... on Freddy.
I was running a stupid build (BBQ, Distressing, Dark Devotion, Infectious) and 4k'd a game quickly in the Game. Last person was a Meg who DC'd after I downed her near the hatch (iirc) and they were made because I used the IF/BBQ Meta.
Again, on Freddy.
More seriously i don't have a strong opinion on the perk myself. Though my favorite streamer, Puppers, had often mentioned it could do with a cooldown.

I think decisive shouldn't work at all if you're not the obsession. I mean, what's the point in it being an obsession perk if anyone can use it despite obsession status?
That's how Decisive Strike originally worked, if I remember correctly. Originally there was no rescued from hook requirement. If you were downed and were the Obsession, you got an immediate chance to use it. If you weren't the obsession, you had to wiggle a certain amount first.

No it's trash, they introduce a killer who is designed for tunneling and now they make him bad at what he is supposed to do.
Except i don't believe he was designed for tunneling. By design, his cages put the survivor on the exact opposite end of the map from you. That means camping or tunneling a rescued survivor requires you to consciously go to where the cage is so you can be there upon rescue.
It seems to me the idea was to create pressure by giving the Killer a way to "hook" survivors instantly without having to pick up and carry them. Unless the cage spawns literally next to another survivor someone still has to break away for the rescue.
Is a trade off. You get increased momentum at the cost of making the person you caged easier to rescue.

Actually it does, because if there's only 2 people left, camping IS a tactic, whether you like it or not. Just means now the cage is useless when it's 2v1. It would be reasonable if NO ONE could see the cage, or they compensated by removing the yellow gen from PH's perk, but, like op said, anything to please the survivor base.
In that situation, wouldn't you just hook them instead of cage them anyway?
-
Don't have nicknames myself, but I like Puppers nickname for the Yamaoka Estates maps, calling it the "Yo Mama" map. Prompts me to try and come up with DBD-based "Yo Mama" jokes.
-
DS has the Skill Check, though I imagine that's not a big deal in the higher ranks where the worst of the problems are.
Making the timer go faster when performing an action could alleviate things. If people want the full timer they have to not do anything if value, which favors the killer.
By the same token, would it be a buff/ problem for the timer to stop when a survivor is downed? That way the killer can't just slug and wait out the timer. Alternatively, if the Killer does that anyway, you can expend the use of Decisive Strike to pick yourself up and/or give you Endurance on being picked up. Potentially makes the perk more strategic in use and its effects are determined by whether the Killer actively tries to tunnel you or not.
-
One other tip re: using Static Blast: When possible, try not to use it too close to the edges of the map. The Static Blast won't do any good if it goes over the walls.
Unless the Survivors are cheating, in which case you get the joy of shocking them anyway.

Why the unnerving presence?
Unnerving Presence, not to be confused with the Doctor's own Overwhelming Presence, makes Skill Checks smaller and more frequent if the Survivor is within your Terror Radius. Combine that with Reverse skill checks in random places and you can see how the Doctor benefits.
-
I enjoy using Dark Devotion on the Doctor, less because it helps me win and more for the Terror Radius shenanigans I can have fun with.
There's a streamer, Archdruiddrey, who uses the Doctor exclusively, so watching him may yield some tips. I hear he's working on a Doctor guide, too, but don't know when it's due to come out.
The build I've seen him use consistently is Barbecue & Chili, Iron Maiden, Save the Best for Last, and Surge.
Of the four, Surge is probably the most replaceable since I think Drey only uses it for the personal convenience of not having to always kick gens.
Save the Best for Last and Barbecue are already covered in how they're useful. Iron Maiden's use comes in how it counters one defense against the Doctor: hiding in lockers prevents Survivors being revealed by Static Blast.

looks like the forums aren't much better...

Good for Scott Jund...?

I always feel like the odd one out in these conversations. I honestly find killer less stressful than Survivor. When I play survivor I get sweaty campers and/or tunnelers and anytime I want to use something like Bloody Party Steamers or seems like the killer goes out of their way to end things as quickly as possible.
When I'm the Killer the only one who determines how sweaty the Killer is is me. I mostly play for points so once I have my barbecue stacks I can mostly just mess around to max out my non-Sacrifice scores.
Outside of the occasional ROFLstomp or difficulty using a new or particular Killer, I typically find it more fun.
-
If Cross Progression is introduced, I'd imagine only stuff that's free would cross over: unlocked perks, bloodweb progress, etc. Anything involving purchased with real money or Auric Cells would probably be limited to whatever platform they are purchased on. BHVR isn't the only one who profits off of that, after all.
-
If it helps, Otz Darva recently did a video for getting Adept with each specific Killer. Note sure if it'll address the specific issue you're having but it might help nonetheless:
https://youtu.be/l2ZmcTf9z_g -
Two recent Nurse games:
First one didn't really go my way, but I'm playing Nurse so I go in expecting that. However, there's this one Laurie I just keep running into. I think she was even the only one I ultimately hooked that match. I try not to be a tunneler, it's the one thing I hate running into so I try not to inflict it on the people I play against. However, I'm not so nice I won't at least down someone for the pressure. However, I end up Lethal Blinking Laurie after she got off her second hook in the basement. At that point, I'm like "Whoops." and let her get picked up. The survivors all escaped, but at the end Laurie thanked me for not third-hooking her.
Another game, also involving me playing Nurse and also a Laurie. In this case, the Laurie was probably the one who gave me the best chase of the bunch. I had killed everyone else, leaving Laurie the last one. We're in a chase that, by sheer happenstance since we started nowhere near it, ends with me downing her within hearing distance to the hatch. I hadn't planned on it, but I figured "Ok, what the hell" and dropped her off by it so she could get out.
In general, I play Killer for points more than anything, so I don't mind letting Survivors escape more often than not so they can have their own 5k Survival points. Especially if a Bloody Party Streamers is in the mix. This attitude once got me called the nicest Ghost Face ever.

NOED is by far the worst perk in the game and any killer who uses it is just so bad, you shouldn't be able to win because you couldn't confirm a kill the whole match. Survivors shouldn't be punished for actually doing a good job and getting to end game - will it ever be removed or changed?
also any killer mains who reply to this defending NOED your comment is being overlooked I don't associate with negative vibes
Is there any reason to expect it would be removed?
-
I worry less about the etiquette and just play like normal until I've got my BBQ stacks and my non-Sacrifice points maxed. From there I just mess around until they've got their gens and are on the way out. Mess with the survivors so they can get their own points and otherwise let them do their thing.
-
The main way I deal with campers is to run Kindred. It doesn't work for Stealth Killers anymore, but it's still handy more often than not for making you and/or everyone else aware if the Killer is camping so you can hopefully punish them by doing gens while he's not bothering anybody.
-
Licensed characters do not get Crowns. So Ash, Tapp, and Quentin can not get them. Nor can the Nightmare, Pig and Ghost Face.

Hello everyone!
I've been playing DbD for a while now though I did take a break for a bit. It was getting a bit repetitive for me. I never really had a problem with the game before, at least not one that I felt I should come to the forum for. Today i noticed something while looking at the challenges in tome III, Dance of Death. To complete it I need to be chased by a killer as Kate for 30 seconds. Makes sense, seems simple enough. Wait a moment I don't own Kate... Am I required to buy Kate in order to complete this tome? Is there a by pass for this? Will Kate be temporarily available if I select it?
I only ask because I simple don't know and any time I try to search for the answer all I find is how to do the challenge. This is probably the only time I've every been honestly grumpy with the game, since I don't tend to buy/get things I have no intent on using. Don't really care for Kate's or her perks so I had no plans on getting her. In my opinion challenges in tomes shouldn't be tied to something you don't own because at that point the game is now saying "Yeah you want to finish this thing? Pay money."
Anyone have any insight to this?
Board seems to have eaten my reply when I tried to edit it, so apologies if this double-posts.
If you mean "Complete the Tome" in the sense of going from the Prologue Eye to the Epilogue Eye, then no, you do not need to own Kate as it's entirely possible to go from one end to the other without ever touching a Character- or Perk-specific Challenge.
If you mean "Complete the Tome" in the sense of completing every single node, then yes, you do need to own Kate to get to every Survivor node and the Legion to get to every Killer node.

I think it's a neat idea. Despite how Nos37 worded it, A Nurse's Calling might indeed make for a better tracking perk. Though honestly when I saw you using BBQ I just assumed it was for points like I use it.
-
I try my best not to tunnel, mostly because it's the one thing I genuinely hate encountering when I play survivor and I don't want to inflict that on people myself.
I'll slug off hook to maintain pressure, but I won't re-hook. Closest I've actively come was a Nurse game where I opted to concentrate on the survivor giving me the hardest time so I could practice.

While more excusable because it was in low ranks, a while back I had a Legion game where multiple survivors went down to Deep Wounds multiple times in the same match
The other day something similar happened when I saved someone with Borrowed Time and they never mended.

Wasting a perk slot on Calm Spirit. Which I hate.
i'm no expert or pro but i'm ok. I have lost the doctor during a chase before but then he uses his power to cheaply spot me again and another chase commence. The doctor is just not fun to play against. It's god awful.
I know this perk isn't considered top tier but if i can laugh at the doc player cause his cheap trick isn't giving him my location instead of being a smart killer then it's worth it.
Unfortunately escaping chances are low cause all day long during a match i just hear my teammates screaming and blowing up generators since not only does your location get revealed but skill checks are a pain. Especially on the Switch at a rough frame rate and skill checks that stutter have of the time.
I gained a new appreciation for this perk yesterday myself. I equipped it in case I ran into any baby Pyramid Heads using the scream when you heal perk and put it to great use against a Doctor instead. As literally right next to him even he did a static blast and he ran off for someone else.
-

Yeah, I've played maybe 13 games since Pyramid Head was released. As for Deathslinger, I think it'd be higher if I played much after DS was released. But I quit playing for a bit when he was released. It's also why Zarina's numbers are a bit low while Cheryl's are higher.
I play off and on since he came out and don't think I ever saw him outside of his debut week.
On a side note @KingFrost , thanks for doing this list. I've often felt like playing the less- seen Killers so this gives me an idea who to focus on.
-
I wonder why Deathslinger usage is so low. Nurse I get, and I think the other Killers besides Pyramid Head, who I assume is low because he's a day old at the moment, are regarded as weak in general over other Killers, but Deathslinger I don't quite get.
-
I mainly avoid serious tunneling because it's the one thing that genuinely angers me when I play and, frankly, I do not want to inflict that on others.
-
I wouldn't be surprised if stuff bought with Auric Cells/ real money didn't cross over. If only because BHVR aren't the only ones who profit off of that. Free stuff, or stuff unlocked with Shards, I'd guess would, since that's all purely in- game. So bloodweb progress, unlocked perks, maybe Shard-bought characters if that's tracked (though I wouldn't count on it)
-
To give an example of the bad kind of tunneling: yesterday I had a game against a Demogorgon. I went down early, that in itself is fine, I'm not great, it happens. Demogorgon went on to camp me and, when teammates finally got me off, focused on me exclusively. Rinse and repeat and I'm dead not long after with less than 5,000 points to show for it and very little I could do about it because the killer is (a) right there when I'm saved and (b) on me again immediately. If you've ever been on the wrong end of a game like this, your can appreciate just how frustrating it is. Especially since, in that kind of situation, there's very little you can do to stop it unless your have truly Got Gud, which I have not.
For myself, when I'm killer and I can re- down someone fresh off the hook right away, I'll do it, but I won't re-hook them and won't interfere with their being picked up. Basically I'm not so toxic I'll tunnel someone into oblivion, but also not so nice I won't take the additional pressure if I can get it. I'll leave them the chance to stay in the game and get more points.

In the vein of references folks might not get, I was reminded of this little ditty:
Bunnies aren’t just cute like eve-rybo~dy suppo~ses.
They got them hoppy legs and twitchy little noses,
And what’s with all the carrots!?
What do they need such good eyesight for anyway!?
Bunnies!
Bunnies!
It must be bunnies!!
...
Or maybe midgets…
-
I'm fine with either. I generally go into a match assuming Survivors might be a SWF, if only on the logic of "better to assume and be wrong then not and be right".
When I SWF with my friends, it's much like as it's been described here. We use our own builds to our own preferences or needs, and don't really coordinate pre-game beyond "I've got a ritual to do X", "Okay, we'll help you do X", nor in-game beyond "I'm being chased" or "I'm being camped" or so on as mentioned above.
-
One thought I'd had, though I doubt it's feasible, was the Special Infected as a whole being the Left 4 Dead killer. The idea is geared around how playing as the Special Infected works in Left 4 Dead itself.
You start as a specific Special Infected, maybe pre-determined, maybe random? As the game progresses, you build up a power meter. Once full, the power meter can be used to "reset" which Infected you're playing as, much like how in L4D's multiplayer if you died as one Special Infected you'd respawn as another. The respawn is on some other portion of the map, which might help with map pressure issues since it's something of a teleport.
The Special infected would have lower-tier versions of existing abilities The Smoker would be the Deathslinger, but lower range and/or not putting Survivors into Deep Wounds, the Hunter's pounce would operate like the Demogorgon's Shred, the Charger would operate like the Hillbill or Oni, the Boomer would be like Vile Purge Plague while the Spitter is Corrupt Purge plague. The ability to become the Tank and/or the Witch would be Ultra Rare addons. The Boomer's self-destruct would be similar to the Doctor's Static Blast, only infecting any Survivor caught in it with Infection to the point of Broken on the spot. Possibly with a time limit rather than a place to cleanse.
Their Mori would be summoning a Horde to maul a Survivor to death.

For Meyers, I think it might be a bit op. Just because it could potentially stack with the perk it emulates. With the nurse's add-ons, there isn't anything that could stack. Maybe if it had the stipulation added to the add-on that it doesn't stack. Though, then it wouldn't be worth using with Thanatophobia. Maybe if it emulated STBFL instead, with the stipulation that it doesn't stack?
Yeah, Myers is one of the trickier ones to do this with, for that reason.
@TAG said:
I don't actually like add-ons that emulate already-existing perks. I feel like that just causes add-ons and perks to sorta bleed together.
That's one reason it's limited to just the Killer's own Teachable perks, and their activate is somehow linked to their power. My understanding is the teachables were meant to promote a specific playstyle for the Killer they're designed for, so this is meant to work in that vein.
-
Going to bump this and, to get things going, provide some examples of possible Teachable Add-On Ideas:
The Trapper: When you pick up a Survivor from a Trap, your movement speed while transporting the body is increased by 18%
The Wraith: When cloaked, your field of vision is increased by 15 degrees.
The Hillbilly: After injuring a Survivor with the Chainsaw, the generator closest to completion gives you a Loud Noise notification and you have the Undetectable status for 12 seconds.
The Shape: Become obsessed with one Survivor. Every time you level up Evil Within while stalking any Survivor except the Obsession, gain a token. Every Survivor other than the Obsession gains a stackable 3% penalty to Repair, Healing, and Sabotage speed for each Token.
The Cannibal: Successful attack with Bubba's Chainsaw cause Survivors to drop their item on impact. The lost Item is damaged in the fall, losing 10% of its base amount of Charges.
The Hag: Successful Phantasm attacks inflict the Blindness status until the Survivor is healed.
The Clown: When a Survivor Intoxicated by the Afterpiece Tonic, the next window they leap through becomes blocked by the Entity for 16 seconds.
