Yes, I think the same, if it was token based I'd use it

Something like Fire Up where the regression ramps up for every finished generator?

  • I had an idea recently that, when 2 or more Survivors are Deep Wounded, AI controlled bots if the other Legions will pursue whichever Deep Wounded Survivor the Killer isn't chasing until either they mend, go down, or a time limit passes, like outlasting a Feral Frenzy.

I doubt it's feasible, it's just just a thought I had because I feel like it's a missed opportunity that Legion's gimmick of being four people isn't really utilized in gameplay.

  • You can't use kick based perks like Pop and Overcharge with Ruin now for the simple reason that you can't kick generators while Ruin is in effect.

No, personally I don't think they work that well together for many different reasons.

For one, Dying Light and Huntresses Lullaby are two polarizing perks, one works off of regressing generator progression with tokens and the other works off of just hindering the players perception of how fast a notification plays for a skill-check.

It could work, since they DO require a build up, but alone... it's not that useful. If Corrupt Intervention was involved as well or Thanatophobia at least, than it would be more worth it to add it into the perk slot.

If it's a stand-alone perk with Huntresses Lullaby, than I personally don't think it's worth a slot. As those slots could've used better tracking or pressure perks, or other such perks like Corrupt could've taken the slot with Huntresses.

At the same time, both perks hinder generator completion and, while they both require a build up, they both require essentially the same buildup: Hooking survivors. Actions granting up a Dying Light token also grant a Lullaby token and vice versa, unless you hook the Obsession.

Maybe it's not worth using two perk slots on, depending on what you're going for, but I'm not so sure they're as polarizing as you say. Then again, that's why I said on paper, there could well be something I'm missing or failing to consider.

  • Since it hasn't been mentioned one way or the other, and in light of us Shape being the OP's preferred Killer, would Dying Light be worth considering?

If nothing else, on paper it synergizes well with Hex: Huntress' Lullaby, since they both have basically the same activation requirement of hooking Survivors, with DL having the limitation of not killing the Obsession. As long as Lullaby is in play it can also help mitigate the action speed buff the Obsession gets for unhooks and healing.

  • Worst case doesn't that just mean all that extra work makes the game what it is currently?

The times get increased and to get back what they have now survivors have to specifically seek it.

Simple mistake, I also misread some things from time to time.

I try to simplify what I write to not make it any longer than it has to be, so sometimes it doesn't make much sense from first glance. That, and it sometimes gets strung along a lot due to how much I type out in one comment.

Doesn't help I was looking at the post while walking into work and was mostly skimming.

For what it's worth, FireHazard, I honestly appreciate how much work you put into the posts to help people out.

    Didn't I add that?

Unless this wasn't for what I wrote, than yeah it doesn't work with PGTW anymore because of the automatic regression penalty that applies now.

But that only happens when they get off the generators, not when they're on it.

Looking again, I misread. I saw "The new Ruin now applies a 200% regression bonus to the already normal regression penalty when a generator is kicked," and missed" and it does so by damaging the generator immediately after a Survivor gets off it"

The "when a generator is kicked" had me thinking you were saying agen had to be kicked for the perk to kick in

  • Small thing, Ruin is automatic, no kicking required (unless something changed since I was last in PTB). It's for exactly that reason it doesn't pair with perks like Pop Goes the Weasel.

  • I've had some difficulty on console/using controller in general, so I haven't noticed it as much on the Switch vs PS4.

  • My first thought would be Stake-Out, since it has the same build-up requirement of being in the Killer's Terror Radius without being in a chase. Something stealthy like Quick & Quiet or Urban Evasion, maybe?

  • @Marcus said:

I said it once and I will say it again, Corrupt is overrated and it does nothing to slow down the gens, it just makes people move from the corrupted gens to the unaffected ones.

Isn't that the idea behind the perk? Force the Survivors into a smaller section/selection of generators so you can have an easier time going after them?

Also, regarding how CI only lasts two minutes, I think an argument can be made it's a RELIABLE 2 minutes. Nobody's going to find the Hex Totem near instantly and get rid of it, which is a complaint I often see lobbed at Hex perks. Corrupt Intervention works for its time limit, which you can take advantage of without worrying about losing the effect early. Granted, there's the flip side of that of a Totem not getting cleansed and giving you its effect all game, so it's on the killer if reliable early pressure beats potentially longer but less certain pressure.

  • The thing that occurs to me is that people saying the Survivors waiting out Corrupt Intervention wastes the perk seem to also be assuming the Killer isn't doing anything, either. I'd assume the Killer isn't exactly AFK while CI is doing its thing. To me it seems CI is only wasted of the Survivors hide to wait it out AND the Killer isn't able to find anyone in the meantime. If you're able to find and down at least one person, however it occurs, while Survivors are sitting on their thumbs then isn't that a tick on the win column?

  • I THINK they're actually free, since I heard Valve didn't give permission to actually sell them, but don't hold my to that.

  • I generally play Killer for bloodpoints so I'm never averse to farming, but I also don't go super out of my way for it. I'll usually hook survivors once to get points and/or a barbecue stack, complete any rituals I have going, then just run around and harass the survivors to keep points flowing.

After the first hook, if I down someone a second time I'll very deliberately walk to a hook and not hook them as a way to give a clue. Often I made sure to keep the hook centered in my view to try and make it obvious it's deliberate.

  • Only thing I can suggest is run Kindred. At least that way, barring Insidious, you (or your team if you're the one hooked) can know he's camping and punish him for it by doing gens in the meantime.

It won't stop the camping but you can take some satisfaction in knowing that you're messing up his plan at least a little.

  • Question: How will the Doctor's new area of effect shock work with Dark Devotion?

I've toyed with using DD on the Doctor for meming purposes, so I'm curious now. If you hit the Obsession then initiate the area shock, will it effect survivors if they're in the transferred Terror Radius?

  • Since I'm All Ears has been mentioned a few times now, it should probably be mentioned that, as of this post the perk is currently in the Shrine of Secrets.

I assume you mostly used modly because it only took off 50% instead of 75%? (Or was it 25%?, idk)

Still effective, but this seems to be one of those add-ons variations where the difference shows.

Moldy Electrode is the brown one so I think it's 25, but the small range boost makes a noticable difference.

Yeah but there shouldn't be must run perks like that. Without Whispers its a gamble

Mix it with Distressing, which will push the Terror Radius beyond that and you can have some fun indeed. I wouldn't call Whispers a must have, as suggested, but it's definitely one that will sunrise synergize great with the Doctor, like Iron Maiden for Huntress or Pop Goes the Weasel or Surveillance for Nightmare

A question that occurs to me, will there be a way for a Survivor to know the Doctor is charging the area shock vs the normal one?

  • I'm in a weird place in this. When I play a game with mouse and keyboard, I can control fine. But if play a game with a controller, I'm so used to inverted controls that not using them throws me off badly.

Early in my playing DBD, I favored controller for survivor and mouse/keyboard for killer and had to swap between them accordingly. Not as much as issue now as I've since started using mouse and keyboard for survivor too

  • And fun too. I've only used it a couple of times, favoring the standard Moldy Electrode and one of the madness add-ons, but it's always fun to shock someone on a distant generator.

I think that's a bit broken maybe the screech ability should make it to where the survivor can't hear the heartbeat and game Audio sounds muffled

Yeah. I was just thinking today that I don't think any Killer except for the Hag has anything like that.

The whole "feeding to pigs" thing is also reminding me of a real life "black widow" serial killer, Belle Gunnes, who'd woo men into marriage, kill them, them bury then in her farm's hog pens. Not really something that translates to dbd, but a neat little thing nonetheless.

  • While I agree with leveling the Cannibal for Barbecue and Chili, I generally recommend the Trapper or Wraith as Starter Killers to actually play since they're relatively straightforward to use, their powers aren't difficult to handle, and the Wraith's perks are good for tracking help.

My roommate tried Hillbilly first and had a hell of a time with his chainsaw. So do I, in fact, to to the point that to back to back Killer games, one as Billy and one as Freddy, who I enjoy playing as, were night and day in how they ended. But lately he's been playing Trapper to much greater success.

    William Afton?

Oh no, the community is gonna eat my ass now.

Honestly, I'd be down for this. There's even a handy "the" name to go with him: The Mascot. I'm assuming it'd be Afton in the form of Springtrap, though. His Mori would be stuffing animatronic heads onto Survivors and setting off the spring locks.

  • On a recent PS4 game I played against a Camping and/or Tunneling Trapper, I focused on an nearby gen rather than go for the save right away. Sadly, when I DID go for the save it was JUST too late to make the rescue. After the game I get a message simply saying "I hate you". When I asked "for?" I was told it was for doing a generator while they were struggling and not coming until the last moment.

My response, and I quote, "He seemed to be camping and/or tunneling and I don't have Borrowed Time. Not a whole lot I could do until then."

If nothing else, you kept the game moving and generators going. My understanding is that, as much as possible, at least one person should always try to be on gens.

  • Depending on what version and/or DLC you have and what characters you have access to, Feng Min's Technician perk can help with skillchecks (missed generator skillchecks have a chance of not altering the Killer), there's also Kate's Windows of Opportunity shows you where vaults and pallets can be found to help you learn that.

Working strictly off base version, a couple handy Perks that might be worth trying out are

Dwight's Bond (shows you the auras of nearby survivors)

Claudette's Self-Care (can heal yourself, I don't see it recommended in higher ranks but it's probably useful in lower ranks)

Jake's Iron Will (make fewer/no sounds while injured)

Kindred (my personal favorite Perk and not specific to any one survivor, when you're hooked it shows the other Survivors where they are and if the Killer is close to you. If someone else is on the hook, you see where other survivors are and if the Killer is close to the hook)

Though ultimately what perks work or don't work for you is going to depend a lot on what your play style ends up being, in my opinion.

Also, my own personal tip-slash-superstition: Never go for the first generator you see. Doing so will mean death. At least it always seems to for me.

  • Personally, I'm confused on how Surge even COULD apply Pop Goes the Weasel except in the very specific circumstance of hooking one Survivor then downing another in proximity of a generator before Pop runs out.

  • I honestly tend to just forget to use Offerings. Several times we get to the offering burning and I realize my mistake

  • At the same time, i could see it as an addition to a perk like Small Game or Detective's Hunch, much like how Hex: Thrill of the Hunt gives Killers that info.

It doesn't work like that from what I've seen. It appears that KI works within a radius from you, the Legion, and that it happens to overlap with the TR most of the time. So no, KI doesn't break with Dark Devotion.

But it's still usable by the sound of it?

Thanks. I had a bit of success when I tried it before, getting an early hit on the Obsession then nearly making a generator grab. I flubbed it, but the Survivor did say afterwards I gave them a scare.

(Sorry if this double posts, my initial reply vanished for some reason)

  • Thanks. I've had a tiny bit of success in test runs, hitting the Obsession then nearly getting a generator pull. I flubbed the grab, but the Dwight did say later I gave them a scare.

I made this build for legion: It's pretty unorthodox, but I've found success with it. I don't have a name for it, but it sows chaos...

    Favorite Killer: Legion

    Favored Build (at the moment):

    Perks:

    Corrupt intervention (Early game slowdown)

Dying Light (For later game slowdown)

Dark Devotion (For extra opportunities and chaos)

    BBQ (Points + Auras)

    Addons:

Both Rulers (You'll understand why when you read below)

    Why this build works:

This build is the result of asking myself: How could I make a legion that hides their TR when frenzied? Or in essence, how could I recreate the Darkness Among Us Trailer?

My first attempt was with Furtive Chase and Ruin instead of Dying Light and Dark Devotion, but that didn't exactly work the way it was intended... but I did sort of get the effect. People didn't realize they were running to me, but the effect was barely noticeable.

So I tried Dark Devotion, and that worked very well. People didn't expect it to occur. And it's even better on indoor maps (no shock there). Dark Devotion triggers only with a normal hit, so you can hit the obsession with frenzy, down them, and get the undetectable status and be on your way. You'll probably get frenzy back (because of the rulers) by the time you find them, so you can hit them all with frenzy for extra pressure, then down someone and apply Dying light stacks.

This playstyle will cause chaos, as they will not be able to rely on the TR to be reliable, and the game will be getting harder and harder for the survivors. You'll also be able to frenzy without a TR.

And you'll get lots of points.

But you have to slug the obsession a lot, or just hit them.

Does Killer Instinct still work for finding Survivors in the Obsession's Terror Radius, then?

  • I'm still working it out but one meme-y build I've been thinking of is Dark Devotion w/ the Doctor. Hit the Obsession, switch to Treatment Mode, and let them spread the madness for you

I've only tried it a couple times, last time being before the Oni was released to add Nemesis to the mix.
