  • I think the chapter will drop in a few hours from now.

  • The current BT is better than the old one, but I still think it encourages unhealthy gameplay. It was designed for anti-camping which is why it is so strong even now, but it still encourages survivors to go for unsafe rescues. Without getting into it, survivors complain about the killer camping in a 3 gen scenario for example. If the killer is bout 32-24 meters close to the hook, the terror radius will allow the survivors to activate borrowed time and they know it. This is when they save in front of your face because they know that BT will allow the survivor on the hook to take a hit, the thing is that the killer isn't camping here. It can be used offensively to body block as well which is why it makes it really good.

The problem with nerfing BT though is that survivors already lost DS. Nerfing the other really good perk against anti-camping which totally happens every game would upset many people who play survivor. And I don't blame them. It is completely up to the killer whether or not they decide to camp and tunnel if BT was also nerfed. This would force BHVR to somehow deal with camping or tunneling

SB is fine to me, it is sort of like DH in the sense that it can make even more distance on the killer, but SB isn't always readily available.

Left behind I guess could use a change. I have never had a problem with it usually, the survivors who bring a key and hide all game because they are "memeing" bring a blueprint with a key.

  • Anything with kindred goes honestly.

But here is one that I like to use:

Kindred, WGLF, WMI, and SB or some other perk for yourself.

It would be correct to say that the stats would be different if each match was a killer vs an equally skilled survivor team. But that is not what we get in the public matches. Even as a red rank killer if we were matched against a team of all red rank survivors, there is such a large variation of skill of players that have the red rank title, we still couldn't say we were matched against an equally skilled team. But the stats they posted are accurate to what was happening in public matches at the time the pulled the numbers. I've never heard BHVR say they want balance to be every individual person gets a 2 win or 2 kill average. They want to the average of the player base as a whole to be around 2 wins to 2 kills.

If skill based match making works, we are going to be paired with survivors of equal skill presumably all the time. That means each game we are going to have to try hard to get 2 kills. If you are already averaging more than 2 kills, you probably aren't going to like going from 3 on average to 2 on average. Let's say skill based match making works and was active right now. If they just said yep, you are right, dead hard shouldn't be there and they get rid of it, all that will happen is you will just shift to a different set of players that average 2 escapes against you. And if it worked, would they get rid of rank numbers all together? What would be the point of having a skill based match making if you couldn't see where you sit on the boards compared to others.

I'm not saying pressing a button on their keyboard makes them skillful. I'm saying dead hard isn't as big of a factor in you winning or losing as you think it is. And why do perks need to take skill anyway? Perks are just supposed to give you ways to change how you play. Brutal strength doesn't take skill. But by equipping it I can kick pallets and gens faster. Does that mean we should get rid of it?

Also, disagreeing with someone is not being condescending. If you think I called you an unskillful player, I can see how you might think that. I wasn't trying to call you a bad player as I have no idea what your skill level is. I am saying if you are losing, it is not the perks the survivors are using that is causing it. It is that you are getting matched against players more skillful than you. I know you can have over a 50% win rate against players using those perks because I have over a 50% win rate against players using those perks, other players have over a 50% win rate against players using those perks, and BHVR's kill rates shows the killer player base as a whole have over 50% kill rate. So you too, can work on your killer skills and be there if you already are not.

My bad on you trying to call me out, your comments were misleading and other comments that go down road of starting to become toxic are similar. Sorta jumped the gun on that one.

So maybe perks shouldn't take skill to use, but I don't think that they should be able to be used so easily and get so much value out of being used for not doing much to earn it. I still think that it gets too much value for its own good, but I would need a specific example or two to show how it can be used. I for one think that the perk gets too much value and is unfair when used for distance.

A SBM system would be very interesting, probably very bad though considering how this game is favored more to survivors by quite a bit. Not exactly saying that survivor is OP, but it is pretty clear that this game isn't exactly favorable to the killer a lot of the time. If a proper SBM system was put in place, BHVR would actually need to start balancing things.

It can, but it also might not. In my experience, it usually doesn't. I just posted stats from 50 red rank killer games yesterday and another person did today. I played Wraith and killed 79.5% of the survivors and dead hard was the most brought perk. In theirs, they played a few different killers but ended with an 89% kill rate and dead hard was one of the most brought perks. If I'm remembering correctly, the last stats I saw BHVR put out had most of the killers over 50% kill rate. Some of us have figured out we can still win even with all of the strong perks survivors have. If you are getting beat so much, it is probably you went against people that were just better than you. If you aren't and you just don't like the perk, I might ask, what kill % do we need to have before we as killers are satisfied?

Any of those kill rate stats from BHVR are pretty inaccurate btw.

Also this went from healthy discussion to condescending comments real quick. I don't see how a survivor pressing a button on their keyboard makes them skillful, or when they are carried by other perks as well. Just because you yourself happened to go against survivors who didn't know how to use the perk doesn't mean that it is fine.

So what. If it gets them to the pallet and they throw it, I break it and now they don’t have it to use anymore. If they get to a window I just keep playing the loop and get them eventually. They get more distance with sprint burst and lithe but I eventually get them too.

If they are able to make it to a pallet or window like that, it can extend the chase for an incredibly long time depending on how good the survivors are. And so what if it gets out of the way for now? The survivor can get it back in 40 seconds.

The thing is, SB only gets used in a chase whenever the survivor goes out of their way to 99 it. And lithe requires a window.

It can stack on every survivor and rewards survivors for playing greedy.

It's definitely not survivor sided when killers are winning a majority of matches.

    Proof?

  • @HellDescent said:

It won't change anything, you're still holding W for the same amount of time and your speed doesn't change from 4,0 m/s. They need to rework strong tiles which are linked, like the middle of suffocation pit for example

Edit: at least straight line with los can give bloodlust to catch up faster

It would if objects forced survivors to move around them.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

I don't see a reason to "fix" holding W. It's a basic survivor mechanic like dropping pallets or vaulting windows. It's also only effective in certain situations, against certain killers, and on certain parts of maps.

I think it should at least be addressed, the fact that a survivor can hold a button on their keyboard to waste loads of the killer's time chasing them is pretty nuts. It takes little to no skill and is unfun for the killer. I am not really crying saying things like "nerf this right now bhvr omg jioash ghsio fashp" but I really think it at least should be looked at.

  • @DBDisAMAZING said:

I'm confused...is this a thread about running forward in a straight line being too powerful?

No, it is a thread about how it can help with this problem because it is definitely a problem. I wouldn't say it is too powerful, but it is definitely something that is unfun and shows poor design.

  • @Mysterynovus said:

This is a big leap and pure imagination, but imagine if they introduced scalable walls for maps. Walls with surfaces that can be climbed like rocks, vines, etc.. Both Killer and Survivors can climb them, but Killers will climb them faster (2s compared to 6s or whatever, it's variable). This could provide stop points on large maps where a Survivor player has to halt and make a choice to go another way or spend time climbing over. For Killers, it can also provide a way to cut off certain loops on the other side. At the very least, it would provide variety to maps because outside of baby Dweets, no Survivors wants to run in a straight line for 30 seconds. It's effective but boring. Scaling walls can change things up a bit.

It might also make some maps like Haddonfield and Badham less annoying for Killers by making certain houses have ivy walls that they can scale to get upstairs in a few seconds.

That's exactly what I said a few threads ago, the scaling part.

It would be a LOT of work but would be a new mechanic for both sides that is actually killer sided.

  • It needs to be changed.

  • @Red_Beard said:

I think it's fine. Once you know they have it you just wait to swing till you bait it out or are right on them. I laugh every time when they turn and run at me, expecting me to swing and I don't, so they just slam into my chest. I see a lot that dead hard themselves into corners and trees a lot too.

You can't bait out the perk when it's used for distance.

Just above this comment - "Yeah. Mad at being deranked for doing nothing the whole game and to be taunted when I died."

    it's *you're btw

  • Well, I see the issue here. The pebcak.

  • In a still very much survivor sided-game, 2 killer buffs don't seem that bad.

  • Thank you very much for this data.

  • I always say "gg gl on next" or if the game was fun "gg wp gl on next"

my responses are usually either "gg u2" or "go fricking stub your toe"

  • (Insert salty entitled survivor comment here saying how this shouldn't go through because killers tunnel every single game and threaten to leave the game)

  • @Karao_Ke said:

Hm. These tips are great in most situations but I disagree on the first one.

Oni is all about management, particularly power management. Given he has to rely on survivor mistakes to obtain his power, using it willy nilly isn't always the best idea unless the survivors are complete potatoes.

With that being said, unless the game is already in your favor and/or you have perks like Infectious to start a snowball, using an impulse Blood Fury on an injured survivor could potentionally be total waste of your power considering they could definitely exploit it at loops which is mentioned as your 2nd point.

In my honest opinion, if you feel the need to use Blood Fury on an injured, you should probably drop the chase anyways because that means they've got heavy distance on you and are already across the map.

I forgot to say that you shouldn't use it all the time, but I think it is something that Oni players should take advantage of. Using it on an already injured survivor is still great, that is an easy down you can get and of course, it would be better to save it for a healthy one, I just wanted to make it clear that you can still use it against injured survivors but use it more sparingly when doing so. Basically, using your power on an injured survivor is useful, but you must be a bit more decisive and thoughtful about it and relly only use it if necessary.

If you are up against good survivors who happen to be injured, I would use my power. It is hard to say without clear video evidence of how well this works, so for now I will just leave it up to that we are just having different experiences.

It depends on the strength of the map you're on or not. On a map like lery's, yeah just drop the chase. But on a map like the farm maps? It would help to use it on the injured survivor.

  • @Karao_Ke said:

Decent tier list. Dunno why Clown & Pig are that low but to each their own since I consider Billy F tier.

I'd probably switch Doctor and Huntress as well.

Clown is very low because he is still the worst killer in the game, his 1v1 can be strong... against decent or average survivors. Otherwise, survivors drop pallets early and run away.

Pig is low because her ambush attack is so very weak. It is way too predictable and isn't that great most of the time. Her traps are also very RNG reliant.

Huntress feels right to me, I had the pleasure of playing against a really good one twice last night, she was hitting crazy shots left and right and definitely deserves a spot in the A tier.

Doctor is decent but just very mid-tier. Nothing really special about him other than his shock abilities that do give information, but he is significantly weaker when against survivors who know when to just hold m1. He gets a lot of info, but can't go crazy with it, he is still an m1 killer who can be dealt with.

lol Billy F tier is not something I agree with in the slightest but ok.

I guess ? Idk. I use rainbow maps and they can see all that anyways. Since I'm the detectives hunch user of the group

Only you yourself can see everything unless you bring the glass bead addon. Without the glass bead, only you will see what you have tracked.

  • @BrokenSouI said:

    What...? That's umm...Already a thing.

Only with the glass bead addon.

  • Literally git gud, he does not need a nerf.

  • I bet that somehow there is going to be a bug that will disable part of a killer's power that will be fixed only after a month or so with constant complants.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

I disagree with point 3. Unless you have a lot of injured survivors or you're using perks like Discordance and Tinkerer that tell you exactly where to go you really don't want to spend your power patrolling generators.

Everytime you enter Blood Fury survivors get a mapwide notification, so everyone is warned that they should probably hide for the duration of it. Injured survivors also stop dropping orbs whenever you activate your power. Activating BF while you're not sure where survivors are will probably sent you back to the early game where you'll have to rely on M1s to get your power again.

While the points you made are true, I still think it is a good idea. I probably should have explained this in more detail, but when patrolling generators without tracking perks such as discordance or BBQ, it becomes more of predicting which gens survivors are repairing and heading there instead of using it to search the entire map. For example, you see scratch marks or crows in one direction scattered around so you use you power to check in over in one direction where you will find survivors.

I still think that just patrolling generators to see where survivors are and aren't is still great. Just the act of patrolling is pressuring survivors and of course it is best to be very decisive and conservative with this method. I play a lot of Oni myself and I do this quite often, the only times I lose all of my power are when I use it without thinking and when I am up against a coordinated team.

I played Oni a bit, but I'm a Survivor main. I have very little knowledge about how to play Killer efficiently.

So, thank you for the tips. I will take them into account the next time I'm trying to learn Killer. I wanted to rank up with Oni, as I love him so much.

There are a bunch of other things that you can learn to do as Oni, but these are the 3 main problems I see with newbies. I would recommend learning at least this killer, he is awesome once you become skillful with him and you will be downing survivors left and right.

Good thing rank means next to nothing in this game, phew.

  • The Realty strode key needs to go.

  • He would be garbage if his power relied on making survivors fearful, they are not afraid of anyone who isn't a spirit or nurse. /s

That sounds cool though, however we already have a clown and another licensed killer is probably not what this game needs.

  • Yeah, especially when you don't buy the rift pass you don't get anything worthwhile.

and you plan your moves and almost get nothing in return, it's so simple and boring

To you yes, to you it is.

  • What should be fixed is some sort of new mechanic would be for kickstarting the generator that takes 3 seconds (that you have to do without interruption) and a buff to regression. Maybe 150% regression (lvl 2 ruin) at base as well. This would be a nice change.

How you just throw ######### on the ground and walk the other side, the counterplay is just dropping pallets early.

Cuz I think it is sort of fun because you have to plan your moves? lol

  • How dare you.

  • A joke of a killer, but he IS a Clown.

However, he is still sort of fun and interesting to play.

And while you don't have it, just run Thrilling Tremors. It works almost the same but with a cooldown

In this case, BBQ would be a little better since you can use TOT and then gun it to a survivor you see.
