5:17 two injured survivors - better run to healthy David and let him loop me around one single pallet for 1 minute and 13 seconds till bloodlust does its job! I think it's fair to say the survivors deserved to escape as their decisions were quite simply correct. Also their endgame rescue was flawless.
As for the quick early gens that's just natural when you get your first hook after 1.5 minutes give or take. First of all you can physically get the first down way faster and secondly the game isn't over just because 3 gens popped. The remaining gens are easier to pressure and people have to spread out and find their next gens after popping the gens they spawned on. At that point it comes down to the killer's tactics how fast the remaining gens pop - IF they pop.
AND even if the last two gens pop they still have a gate to open still allowing you to get a down/kill.
Remember the average result is supposed to be a 2k. Enjoy the 4ks when you get them but do not expect them like they were a normal thing.
-
Trapper moves at 115% / 4.6m/s just like most killers. He seems so fast because he walks in a rather aggressively looking way I guess.
-
Do you mind uploading a few of those gen rush matches?
-
Where is the full game?
-
Hag is the strongest killer out of these 3 (in my opinion). However she can't be played "aggressively". You always have to take your time to turn loops into battlefields and you can't really afford to plain "chase" with her due to 110% ms.
Ghostface is pretty strong and very easy to play. Just cancel your terror radius and get easy hits/downs on survivors working on gens. Works great unless they run Spine Chill (even then you can walk to gens while looking to the side to counter Spine Chill). Also he can stalk/instadown so you have an additional way to get people when you can't afford to hit them twice.
Deathslinger is relatively strong 1 vs 1 but if you face gen-aggressive survivors you'll have a hard time due to his 110% ms. Hag's traps kinda make up for her slow movement speed. Deathslinger ALWAYS has to close distances by walking. If survivors start with the middle gen and loop decently he will definitely struggle most of the time.

LOL That's awesome.
I wish I would have recorded the one where I downed 4 with my corrupt spray gun as Plague, while they were trying to flashlight save this one survivor. 😂
Nothing feels as satisfying as multi-downing people not gonna lie. It certainly must be one hell of a thing to play flamethrower-Plague. I wonder how many multi-downs a Plague main will get over the course of around 10 games with something like:
- Tinkerer (so you can possibly sneak up on "broken" survivors working on gens)
- Discordance (to increase the chance of multi-downing them when they're about to pop a near-by gen)
- Dying Light (so you have more time to approach a gen when Tinkerer kicks in as soon as you got some stacks)
- Thanatophobia (even more time to approach a gen when Tinkerer kicks in if people don't cleanse)
-
Gen rush is more like a "bad killer needs an excuse" thing.

I got you fam:
https://youtu.be/2xx1qDoSWlgThis 1 min 4k "proves" that survivor need to get buffed AS SOON AS POSSIBLE... Right?! I guess there's a reason I don't post as much on the forums as I used to. People cry when gens go fast (mostly) due to the incompetence of the killer (this includes all known streamers. Everyone potatoes at times - even streamers) but everyone's fine with 1-3 minute 4ks.
Sometimes you win - sometimes you lose (regardless of "skills"). Not sure why people don't want to accept that.

All it takes is one streamer to get a 4K with any killer and they instantly go “OMG THIS KILLER IS TOP TIER” then everyone else agrees with them.
Cant wait for the day some streamer says leatherface is top tier

We were all purple rank and red rank and the killer was rank 17
The killer was rank 15 not 17... Shouldn't you know that considering it was your experiment? Also the experiment is -I know you don't like to read it- more than pointless as you and your friends (red/purple rank survivors) shouldn't even be facing near perkless/addonless rank 15 killers.
-
Basically perkless/addonless rank 15 killer by the way.
-
The killer difficulties are pointless as everyone thinks/reacts/plays slightly differently.

lol im sorry youre eassily offended *shurgs*
Coming from the person who messaged a killer because they facecamped you and made a thread about it on the forums afterwards. Sounds like you're salty one.
I often side with survivors on this forums despite being (mostly) a killer main since 2017. Sometimes people will even call me a survivor main because I defend survivor actions quite a lot but you are clearly the type of survivor who deserves to get camped.
Not only do you (knowingly) taunt the killer when you make it out alive (probably 1 out of 100 games since skilled survivors usually just move on to the next game instead of wasting the killer's time) regardless of how the killer played throughout the match but then you even act like you were psychologically superior towards forum members that call you out for taunting the killer which -ironically- makes you seem like a childish person.
Everyone knows playing killer can feel stressful at times for the majority of DBD's playerbase so tbagging a killer that lost a match is obviously asking for a good time on the hook next time you face said killer.
Also it's hilarious how you're trying to act like you didn't care about getting facecamped when you're clearly the type of person that... Well... Messages the killer AND creates a thread when it happens.

why would anyone in their right mind get triggered by that? Like I said, at this point is pretty much tradition. When I play killer i couldnt care less if they tbag or not in the gates, as long as they dont do it during a chase or to taunt
Counterquestion: Why do you get triggered if someone facecamps you? One could say "it's tradition to facecamp at this point".

Mother's Dwelling - awesome map for "walking" killers (joke). LeatherKekW, rank reset, three man SWF. Solo surv escaped, almost +2 pip. After game this rank one survivor with 4.5k hours was pretty toxic tho. Game is not balanced around rank and SWF, at all.
So you're saying the game isn't balanced even though you (rank 9 killer) won against red rank SWF using Leatherface with suboptimal perks and suboptimal addons? What's balance in your book then?
-
Playing killer is just more fun to me since no one can annoy me by blocking me in a corner, farming me off the hook next to the killer without borrowed time and hiding all game which forces me to do the chases AND generators. Being the killer allows me to do what I want and the entire match comes down to MY decisions and MY experience (unless I go against a 100% perfectly organized SWF team which is as rare as an unicorn).
As survivor YOUR fun depends on the decisions and experience of 3 others. That's why solo survivor gameplay is absolute trash for the most part.

You haven't read the post.
I've already said how spamming snares does not equal a free hit. If you really think so, you clearly haven't played much of Freddy.
You must predict where the survivor is going or where they're planning to go and find the most efficient way to cut them off. Just spamming snares around a loop only gives a good survivor more leeway in where they decide to go next since you've effectively removed your chase potential by getting rid of all of your other snares.
I'll admit that pallets are mostly a "set and forget" type of thing. But you still need to herd survivors into them as Freddy and memorize where they are as survivor. Both of these actions require cognitive thought and are not brainless.
And please stop saying what is or isn't fun without and explanation as to why. It just further waters down the discussion because you don't add anything of substance. What am I supposed to say to "I don't find this fun" when you don't even bother to explain why?
The only thing I'll agree with is that Freddy having 1 attack, (and by that I think you mean no other means of injuring survivors besides M1), is a bit dull.
I flew over the post and went right to replying to the thread question as I'm posting while searching and loading into matches at this moment so I apologize if my comment(s) make little sense context-wise.
As for not explaining how exactly he's not fun to play (in my opinion) I was referring to exciting gameplay moments. To name a sample: I've been a Bubba main since his release. I rarely ever play any other killer (even at red ranks) and most certainly didn't play Freddy optimally (which wasn't necessary against the potatoes I faced and thus got bored of his gameplay quickly) because I'm a fan of the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre and I enjoy having a legit instadown with no stupid power bar at all times with 100% movement control. Using speed addons sometimes allows me to anti-loop, multi-instadown and mindgame survivors to the point where I'll smash them right through the pallet (as demonstrated in the 2nd clip below) granting me an instadown AND a pallet at the same time.
Samples:
Anti-loop AND multi-instadown:
https://youtu.be/GeQjd55nRYU https://youtu.be/29RMFtVznvwTo explain the aspect "excitement" further:
Right at the start of the first clip I knew it's "either a hook or a (possibly) lost chase" depending on whether I managed to successfully maneuver around the table or not due to Bubba's famous tantrum. That's -in my opinion- exciting gameplay.
As Freddy I would have placed a snare left and right and gotten a hit either way with little to no excitement. And when I found both of them healing at the gate I had to successfully block that Claudette while already "aiming" for the other survivor at the same time otherwise I wouldn't have gotten the double-instadown.
As Freddy it would have been a plain down and one injured survivor running back into the map.
Now that I think about it basically that's why most killers are boring to me. Most of them are -ultimately- boring M1 killers... Even the strongest ones. So basically my opinion isn't really Freddy specific.
-
Personally I think he's boring to play as and against. Probably the most brainless killer amongst the strong ones in the game, too. Snares is literally just spam them all the time with no strategy - free hit. Fake pallets are just as brainless. Just spam them all around the map and hit them during the fake-pallet drop animation. Boring.
The only fun thing you can do with him is faking the teleport to make survivors run into you or teleporting to a near-by gen during a chase to cut them off but other than that there's nothing exciting about playing him.
Also having only 1 attack is generally boring to me.
-
Slugging all 4 survivors is only possible if they are either too altruistic or if they're potatoes. In both cases they deserve to lose so it's not unfair in the slightest. Besides there are anti-slug perks in the game.
- Unbreakable (allows you to literally steal the killer's pressure by holding a button)
- Tenacity (Allows you to recover and crouch with increased speed thus granting you the chance to get to a teammate fully recovered or to a loop. Currently in the shrine of secrets [!])
- No Mither (some people never heal throughout the match anyways so they might as well run No Mither)
- Flip Flop (punishes the killer if you manage to wiggle out and pick up your teammates or escape via the hatch. Works great with Sprint Burst.)
-
The hatch should not even be a thing in my opinion. It causes people to stop trying to finish the gens. Particularly bad survivors often hide for the hatch when they think the killer is going to win nullifying strong chases another survivor may have during said trial.
Toolboxes are not necessary to win in the slightest. Finishing a generator takes 80 seconds / 1 min 20s for one person without perks or items. That's nothing. A strong survivor can easily get chased for 80 seconds in one chase.
The reason gens often take so long is because 99% of all survivors are bad at the game (especially the "post ruin change + rank reset change red rank survivors" who will even Sprint Burst away from a 90% generator if they see the killer coming) and hide in a corner while others get chased.

Ah an ohtofu or edgarallenbro fan I see. That's not the literal only reason cnn or MSNBC get any funding or platformed whatsoever, they do other stuff.
What's wrong with being an OhTofu fan? He seems to be the only pro level DBD streamer who actually does NOT enjoy the "us vs them" mentality. When he talks about balance he doesn't seem to be biased unlike Tru3 even though Tofu plays mostly killer himself.
-
Frustration level (in my opinion):
1) solo survivor: For every exciting game with lots of good chases and good teammates you get about 10 absolutely terrible games with people sitting in a corner doing nothing combined with a camping/tunneling killer who gives you a "gg ez" if your chase was strong. A few weeks ago J played 2 solo survivor games and believe it or not in both games I had a survivor working with the killer. I don't even bother reporting them anymore at this point.
2) killer: by far not as frustrating as it used to be years ago thanks to many changes like removal of the pallet vacuum, removal of certain god pallets (looking at you - entrance pallet at badham school), exhaustion remains while running, no more actual instaheals, no more actual brand new parts etc. etc. etc.
Sometimes you feel completely powerless if all 4 survivors are strong. However that's such a rare case I wouldn't even consider it a problem. Besides when should survivors ever escape if even 4 strong survivors were supposed to die? I realize survivors must have a chance to survive to keep them motivated so I take a loss and move on unlike many other killers.
3) SWF: Little to no frustration in my book. I had a "SWF phase" (2-man SWF) years ago. We usually talked so much about non-dbd stuff in the end I didn't even realize we died a million times in a row.

Yea sure, they're definitely getting on rank 1 because Ruin got changed and not because the devs destroyed the rank reset. Because ruin was the only reason why not everyone was rank 1. Shows how stupid some dbd players are. Ruin wasn't a God tier perk it was useless on high rank. It doesn't have anything to do that they changed ruin that everyone is getting rank 1. It's because the rank reset
I like how you call me stupid even though you don't even understand my post in the first place. I've never said "people are getting to rank 1 as survivor because Ruin got changed".
I said "the Ruin change caused many new people to hop onto the game resulting in lots of red rank potatoes due to the fact it's easy to rank up".
The current rank reset contributes to the number of red rank potatoes, too.
-
Oni: Instadown, can effectively use said instadown even at loops via flicks, mobility/map pressure, some tracking via blood orbs and a total beast at slugging.

tru3 is really overrated.. idk why people see him so high and mighty he forgets things all the time and he has bad game flow in general.
This.
People think he's a god because he overuses the term "mindgame" while chasing potatoes most of the time.
Personally I think he's a rather average red rank killer performance-wise considering he's been playing DBD 7 days a week since 2016 and yet didn't even know old Doctor could grab in treatment mode till he got grabbed off the hook (in 2019). He didn't even know saboed traps respawned after the devs patched it.
He doesn't even know how non-meta survivor perks work to this day. He has never even tried to make a killer respect a pallet to go for another loop. He can't 360 or juke etc.
Quite simply an overrated player.
-
@Rivyn said:
Heh. Self Care and Botany. That made me giggle. And he's a red rank?
Are you really surprised? Most red ranks have like 1 week of playtime these days. So many new players since the ruin change it's crazy. Everytime I check profiles of bad red ranks I see something like 1-2 weeks of total playtime in the game. Ranking up is stupid easy as survivor which is why I don't understand why people even cry about matchmaking. It's not like red rank survivors played like actual red ranks.

how isnt it though..? regardless if whether he m1's or not ur broken and injured how isnt that instant damage
A successful shot is not necessarily a down if you manage to break the chain or vault a pallet before the harpoon hits you while injured. That's why Gunslinger can aim/shoot instantly. When Huntress "shoots" an injured survivor they go into the dying state no matter where they are.

why are they sometimes worse than having players as host though?
Peer to peer = only the survivors have a ping which may affect hit detection.
Dedicated servers = all clients including the killer have a ping affecting hit detection which may cause incredible bs hits and misses for both sides - especially if the dedicated servers are poo poo.
-
That's what happens when ranking up is easier than getting out of bed in the morning. Lots of red rank potatoes who are only good at acting childish and/or selfish.
-
They can bring all the items in the world it doesn't matter anyways. I usually laugh when someone quickswitches to something as useless as a flashlight
-
Vigil was added to the game when exhaustion recovery whilst sprinting and 33% faster recovery while crouching was a thing. That's why Vigil's values are so low. Since the devs removed the 33% faster recovery while sitting (working on a gen) and recovery whilst sprinting the values might as well be doubled. Even then no one would use it at red ranks as meta perks quite simply have a bigger impact than being able to use your exhaustion perk earlier again.
-
Only new players and big ego streamers care about something as trivial as pips/ranks imo.
-
Yes, you can. Also works with Nurse's addon that lets survivors scream if you blink past them I think (in case one doesn't have Infectious or Doctor).
-
Most of the "mean killer mains" (those guys that just say "bait" and never post any actual arguments) are quite simply bad at the game and thus consider everything that could possibly buff survivors/nerf killers a personal attack.
-
Deathslinger will be one of those killers that are gonna be rare because most people will struggle to dominate with him. Some people however will put many hours in him and become beasts as with most "underdog" killers.
The vast majority will go back to stronger killers eventually, though - especially after a couple bad games with the Deathslinger.
-
It's not even an overly strong perk against smart survivors... In fact it's even risky to use unless we're talking mid/endgame. If you leave someone slugged to go for the teammate that screamed this can happen:
1) slugged survivor gets up using Unbreakable
2) the survivor that screamed already started running away the moment they screamed resulting in tons of distance
3) survivor that got up using Unbreakable pops a near-by gen
4) survivor that screamed turns out to be a decent looper
5) now the other 2 survivors pop their gens...
Not an op perk by any means. More like high risk / POTENTIALLY high reward.
-
Video doesn't work for me neither

Pls stop with "kIlLeR oP, pLs NeRf. kIlLeR iS tOo EaSy" its so annoying. You need to understand this game is player VS player, not A.I
You literally said Shelter Woods was survivor sided when it clearly is not and you said Bubba balances it out. Also my opinion is as valid as everyone else's opinion whether you like it or not. The Ruin change was necessary and even now good killers win more often than they lose so clearly I was right.

Fixated would be decent if it wasn't for the requirement to be at full health. Plague pukes on a gen - perk gone. Legion stabs you with frenzy - perk gone. Wraith/Myers/Ghostface/Pig get the first hit using their stealth - perk gone.

OP its my understanding the average skill level on console is significantly lower than that on PC. I mean I'm a rank 1 killer on console too and I don't remember the last time I didn't 3/4k, but I don't see all that many SWF death squads or survivors who know how to loop every tile.
No offence but PC survivors are not better in any way whatsoever. I watch streamers everyday since the normal TV program is just awful. Therefore I know exactly how PC survivors play and I rarely see any decent loopers. Most survivors are potatoes on all platforms especially with the current rank reset which allows people to be a rank 1 survivor with as little as 3 days of playtime.
That being said I can't wait for crossplay.

I thought people would know what the purpose of old Ruin was. They still think it made winning as Killer possible.
It allowed Killers to play more fair. No tunneling or camping. There were still Killers who tunneled and camped, they'll always be. But without the old Ruin even the Killers who once played fair are forced to play scummy now.
That's the thing, though. It's not your job to make things fair and enjoyable using specific perks. That's the job of the devs. They basically removed old Ruin which allowed killers to either win "by playing fair OR the unfair way" (quite easily at that). Now since old Ruin is gone the devs have actual OPTIONS to make further changes to both sides that may reward good killers in the long run.

Just curius, what perks did you use?
Nemesis (which is why flashlight Meg stopped hiding too quickly after the pallet stun [oblivious effect]), PWYF (that's why I walked backwards for a moment. Allows for quick tokens), Infectious (chain-downs) and old Ruin (which always allowed me to build way too much momentum at the start of the game). Addons were AwardWinningChilli (I use it as often as possible for the meme) and The Beast's Marks

DBD made me question things in other games in terms of balance and counterplay - even offline games (i.e. boss fights). It's really an interesting subject once you start listing variables such as strength of things, possible actions and reactions and their impacts on possible outcomes etc.

OhTofu and Otz are awesome. Not only are they extremely good and know just about everything about the game but they also don't take things too seriously (even though Otz likes to yell and swear at times for fun).
StreamDad seems to be a really empathic person who doesn't sweat for cheesy wins and thus is quite enjoyable to watch, too.
