  • Do other survivors consistently try to troll you?

I think I have the most fun when I think everyone is having fun. Maybe I'm just a very empathetic person. LOL

When I play Killer, I enjoy making sure others have a fair shake. I go out of my way not to re-hook the same person twice in a row. I don't camp/tunnel. I don't use NOED or mori or iri addons. If I play a powered up insta-down Killer, I don't slug to maximize my power. Sometimes I opt not to death hook anyone, just to see if I can pip without it. Depends on whether or not I'm playing for fun or playing for dailies. When I get outta the match and everyone has over 22k points and had fun...thats what I enjoy.

When I play Survivor, I love having good chases. I like presenting a challenge, but if the Killer isn't having a good match - as long as I know I'll safety pip, I'll let him down me or even kill me. As will the one person who I play with sometimes, because we figure 2 in 2 out is balance and Killers deserve points/pips too. I don't teabag unless the Killer is being a real asshat on purpose. I don't clicky clicky my flashlights. If I think someone has a daily, I make sure they can get their hits or power up or zaps before I leave, etc. I'll step in a trap on purpose if it seems like Trap Daddy needs his daily. 😂

I have always loved multi-player games and having fun in groups. So, I think my enjoyment stems somewhat from everyone's enjoyment. If I crush someone else and I know if I was in their shoes it would be frustrating or upsetting...that doesn't bring me any joy.

I definitely wish more people played this game like I do. The one thing I will say is that being able to be nice is almost a luxury for survivors. It is admittedly much harder to PIP as Killer. If it were a little more even with survivors, perhaps people wouldn't feel so compelled to be toxic because they could reach their goal while playing a fun, light hearted match. Maybe not. But maybe. 😂

Sounds like you meme when you see an opportunity to do so (correct me if I'm wrong). If I notice someone's a meme player I typically go along and fool around during the match allowing everyone to chill as I rarely kill someone if I decide to make it a meme match. I even have an old video sample from nearly half a year ago:

    https://youtu.be/7mtOQhsmNVg

I slugged them within the first 2 minutes (speedrun-4k as usual) but when they were all on the ground they followed me through the map like a snake. It was just funny and unexpected so I ended up farming and letting everyone go.

Long story short: I can play empathetically but people need to do something random and funny otherwise I just do what my chainsaw allows me to do quickly (sometimes).

I hear you. I understand the concept of "its just a game" or "dont take it too seriously". I think it bothers me because I paid to play a game that I know can be really fun. And I also have a limited amount of time to play. So on nights like last night, where every single match my opponent is playing like you described - with absolutely zero consideration of others and their enjoyment as well - and I'm on the receiving end of it during the only time I had alotted to have a little fun after a long day, it's hard to brush off. If people were just mildly more considerate on both sides, more people could have a lot of fun more often.

At around 4000 hours I know what it feels like to be on the receiving end on both sides - not gonna lie.

However something I noticed during my time playing DBD is that people mostly act the same no matter how I play so I don't see much of a reason to not play the game the way I enjoy it most.

As killer I really enjoy doing "4k-speedruns" and as survivor I really enjoy running the killer all day while messing with their focus using flashlights.

On a side note lately I've been meeting lots of VERY good sports on both sides.

One survivor recently messaged me saying something like "as soon as I saw the mask (I always wear Meg's face) I knew it was you! gg Bubba Sawyer"

and as survivor some killers gave me hatch after several failed matches as they probably realized all that flashlight clicking is just my desperate attempt of luring them away from my solo queue teammates haha...

Seems like the communty isn't all salty after all. Lots of chill people.

  • @Clevite said:

    Why?

Why not just give the hatch?

Four hours of life staring at a pixelated character and hole in the ground?

If you are referring to me: I was actually a survivor in that game and the killer abused a bugged killer perk (tier 2 tinkerer) to ruin the match for everyone back then so I made it my mission to ruin the rest of the killer's day by not giving the 4th kill.

I've never seen said killer again after that match so it was worth it.

  • Around 4 hours before the hatch changes

Jane’s ass dosent do that so why would it matter with new survivors

Jane isn't an "ULTRA fat survivor!!!", though. She's slightly overweight.

Since op literally said "ULTRA fat" I was thinking of a 600 lbs person.

  • Do you want survivors to get stuck when vaulting a window? Do you want pallets to break when survivors slide over them?

Getting these suckers every second match at least.

Just look at that dumbass loadouts. F.ing swf even go as far to burn a ######### farm offering and a mist. Not to mention they must have all the broken items in the world eh? Half of the team was legacy btw. When I see this, I instantly pick bubba and face camp. Have no interest in playing fair when they play with cheats on top of all of this (voice comms/streched screen) and give them an easy game where they eventually all escape no matter what happens any T-bag at the gates like an ultimate virgin they are. At least they tought I’m bad and made a stupid mistake trying to unhook the face camped guy in the hill that got 2 of them downed and it was pretty much GG at that point. (Still had to extend this stupid match with unbreakable because of what a wonderfull perk it is, but it didn’t change a thing at least)

You realize you're insulting people over a video game, don't you? As for their loadouts you're not better than them. Stop acting like a victim. It's a game.

If you can't enjoy it play or do something else.

  • I don't feel stress playing DBD as I just slug-4k as killer

    https://youtu.be/ftafeotogxg

    and clicky clicky-spam-5gen-loop as survivor:

    https://youtu.be/0YK4F3_1cDc

Or to say it differently: I just play/enjoy the game and ignore unwritten rules. If people didn't take the game so seriously no one would feel stress.

  • Huntress is strong when it comes to 1 v 1 -ing and punishing crowded survivors thanks to her quick hatchet cooldown. However if people use their brain, do gens separately and don't go down quickly you will struggle every now and then even with perfect aim due to 110% mobility especially if you get a big map with many "closed pallets" (no los).

She's fun to play as but can quickly become frustrating when your aim is rusty. Also you have to control yourself even more than with other killers because if you run out of hatchets and still decide to go after someone you're literally just a HUGE hag without traps.

  • Flashlight clicking and tbagging is not against any rules which is why reporting these things will never have any effect in any way whatsoever.

As a red rank killer you should be able to deal with cheeky survivors without getting mad. Controlling yourself is a matter of competence which is something a red rank killer is supposed to possess.

Besides red rank survivors also have to deal with cheeky red rank killers that like to tbag as Ghostface, Pig, smack you on the hook, nod their heads etc.

Long story short: Acting cheeky is not bannable.

  • @DBD78 said:

T-bagging and clicking is toxic but camping and tunneling is just a strategy, it's not toxic. That is like saying gen rushing is toxic.

I played Clown today and come up against toxic t-baggers, so I was toxic right back. I was Clown and hooked one of the survivors and kept throwing bottles at him while facecamping. In the end there was one survivor left and it was the most toxic one, he was t-bagging all game. So I downed him and closed the hatch. Then when he was on the ground I kept throwing bottles at him until time was up and the entity killed him. Now that is pretty toxic I admit 😀 But they deserved it.

Tbagging and flashlight clicking can break the focus of killers and thus is just as much of a (cheeky) strategy as facecamping.

Absoluetly at SOME point it needs to be removed, but while chases CAN last 3-5 minutes it needs to be a thing. Switching targets is important but how many times can you flat out ignore someone before you fall behind because you Had to drop the chase.

That's the thing that makes games intense for me, though. Making decisions such as "should I commit to this survivor going to this structure" or "should I drop chase now for that guy on the near-by gen" or "oh damn the survivor mindgamed me and gained too much distance to make the chase worth it" etc.

I don't want killer gameplay to become completely brainless to the point where you KNOW FOR CERTAIN that everyone will die when you see them no matter where they are or how good they are etc.

Getting a 4k should feel like an accomplishment rather than a habit.

Anyways I guess we can both agree that bloodlust is fine at this point but needs to go at some point. That "point" will probably be when all remaining maps have been reworked allowing for actual fair plays.

  • @SquirrelKnight said:

Wow, i know survivors wanna claim killer bias but this is insane. Killers and survivors have both had a lot of changes, the problem here is that while looping is a mechanic and fair to do, bloodlust should also be in there to add a bit of urgency to losing the killer. Even with the changes to the maps it is still an important aspect.

Originally bloodlust was added to counter INFINITE looping. However entity blockers were added, some strong windows were completely removed, strong structures got doors next to windows now, some strong pallets were completely removed etc. so at some point people will have to say good bye to the outdated bloodlust mechanic and catch survivors the legit way using their powers as intended.

Personally I think bloodlust is also unhealthy for the game psychologically as it makes bad killers think it will make short work of that one survivor that simply outperforms them leading to even longer chases. After the excessive chase killers usually just facecamp out of frustration.

Without bloodlust killers would quickly learn to not over-commit to chases and switch targets.

  • @emptyCups said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1252216#Comment_1252216

The only way to get bloodlust at all is an unobstructed uninterrupted sprint with clear line of sight.

Throwing down a single pallet kills it.

If bloodlust has activated at all it means the survivor has no skill.

Your bias is pretty clear at this point.

Quote: "If bloodlust has activated at all it means the survivor has no skill"

    Bloodlust activates after 15 seconds.

Try to lose me or any other red rank killer in the world in 15 seconds.

  • @emptyCups said:

    A 0 hour killer vs a 5000 hour survivor

that Shouldn't be possible first off

And second if after 5000 hours you can't beat a killer on his first day its u that has the problem lol.

Throw a pallet down and he looses bloodlust completely.

Get a stun or break his line of site and he never even gets it. If you don't make him loose you u are the one thats bad.

All your asking for is to be able to outrun a monster not outplay him.

And for outrunning ? No you shouldn't beat him in a sprint.

You literally said chases should end after 30 to 45 seconds without naming variables such as skill, experience and strategies. That's why I came up with the 0 hours vs 5000 hours sample.

At the end of the day the devs decide how many survivors die using map designs. If they removed all pallets, windows and line of sight blockers (imagine an empty room with survivors in it and a killer) every survivor would die to a new killer (to name a sample). Would the game be balanced and skill based at that point?

That's why I'm not agreeing with any sort of blunt statement that includes fixed numbers when it comes to chases.

Chase should be a matter of skill. If you chase someone for minutes that's most definitely on you. Besides that's where the term strategy comes into play. If someone is clearly better than you - why chase them for minutes instead of switching targets like any good killer? Ego?

  • @emptyCups said:

Why do people want scooby doo chases with the killer ?

30-45 seconds long for bloodlust yeah the chase should end there. If not it has the potential to go on a lot longer can you imagine a 3-5minute chase ? Who would play running simulator really ? That sounds awful.

    Surviors shouldn't be that strong.

So you're saying even a 0 hour killer should be able to catch a 5000 hours elite survivor? No, just no.

DBD is a PVP game. All outcomes of a match should be the result of strategies, skills and experience - and NOT a blunt matter of what icon you clicked on at the main screen.

  • I really enjoyed reading about your journey from sweat to fun. If people stopped taking things too seriously in this game and got rid of the "us vs them" mentality (which is unfortunately spread by certain "talented" streamers) everyone would have way more fun in the long run.

On top of that people would play more frequently resulting in quicker queue times.

I don't care about you either so that's fair I guess.

  • I will always miss original Tinkerer. Dual-speed addons+Original Tinkerer made Bubba crazy fast. I still remember starting my chainsaw in killer shack and hitting someone with that chainsaw attack at the jungle gym window that was NEXT TO the killer shack.

    The survivor messaged me afterwards:

Survivor: "what the hell was that ?!"

Me: "Bubba on lots of good stuff 😎"

Tinkerer was a direct ability buff perk and thus allowed to spice things up. Really miss it.

Um, I dont care if it's a pvp game or not my response still remains the same. It's a meaningless complaint. Maybe the person should just move on to a more challenging game then.

Again: If someone says their role is too easy to play in a PVP game then it's a relevant complaint as PVP games require balance to sustain.

If people like you were responsible for game balance DBD would have died years ago when survivors were broken op.

All balance relevant complaints are valid when it comes to PVP games. You can't just say:

"move on to a more challenging game then."

And brush possible balance issues off.

Okay, okay... you know I just dont understand people most of the time, people especially like you. You are complaining because things are too easy for you? Really... really. First there is a complaint about things being too hard and woo is me, and now we have people complaining about how things are just too easy. You know what, I give up. I'm just so confuse about you and this entire discussion. Your pitiful, sorry to say it but come back when you have REAL problems concerning a complaint because having things easy shouldn't ever be a problem for any sane person.

If a killer literally says "it's too easy" then that's a valid complaint because we're talking about DBD here - a PVP game. Survivors are real people just like the killer. Therefore the game is supposed to feel challenging on both ends.

  • @MadLordJack said:

Playtime doesnt equal in-match time. That's Devotion Level. And Devotion Level doesn't equal skill level. I'm not saying I should be at red ranks, but I play with a lot of familiar faces with 1-2k hours that absolutely suck.

That's correct to some degree - however people with thousands of hours are obviously more likely to perform like red ranks than a new player who got forced into red ranks due to how rank reset and pipping works at this moment.

  • I doubt there's a lot of people out there that would like to get "randomly moried" to be honest. As neat as some mories look they're unhealthy for the game just like the hatch mechanic.

  • Been playing a lot the past days and noticed it on both sides. There are tons of new red rank killers and red rank survivors that have only a few days of playtime and thus perform and (psychologically) act like yellow ranks pretty often.

Since it's pretty easy to pip on both sides people fly to red ranks in no time resulting in... Kinda awkward games to say the least.

Ranks really mean very little due to how easy it is to rank up on both sides.

I think I miss read the topic. When it said hiding or looping I assumed during a chase. I meant it's very difficult to lose the killer once you are found as compared to looping.

Actually losing the killer in a chase definitely takes skill as it requires some juking. I can agree there.

I thought you seriously tried to tell me those Urban Evasion survivors that crouch in the corner of a map are more skillful than loopers haha

  • @EvilJoshy said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1248034#Comment_1248034

None taken. From my understanding. Looping is when the killer finds you and you lead him on a wild goose chase. Using pallets and vaults. Taking as much time as possible so everyone else can do gens.

Hiding is not being found or somehow losing the killer during a chase. Am i missing something?

Proper looping is more than just brainlessly dropping pallets and hopping over windows.

It requires anticipation, accurate movements, bloodlust control, quick reaction times, pallet respect testing while in a chase, map knowledge, combining of structures, jukes to eventually lose the killer etc.

If I chase someone and I realize that person's just dropping everything without even trying to get the most out of pallets I immediately know I will win the match by following said person through all relevant tiles. A good looper will test me on just about every pallet, fake window vaults and try to keep strong pallets even to the point where they will rather take a hit than drop shack pallet at 5 gens to name a sample.

Good loopers will also try and max out every near-by window before dropping a pallet which requires serious distance control especially when bloodlust is a thing.

Long story short: There's a reason most survivors get downed in around 30 seconds (give or take) even on red ranks. Looping is not as easy as some people think.

Hiding on the other hand... Well, just run Urban Evasion, Fixated, Spine Chill and Iron Will and hide whenever the cat lights up.

To be fair I will also ask you: Am I missing something in terms of hiding?

  • @EvilJoshy said:

I prefer hiding. Anyone can loop the killer. Losing them completely takes skill. When I loop a killer I don't feel like I am playing well. I feel like I am using a broken mechanic.

No offence but obviously you don't even know what looping means if you actually think hiding takes skill while looping does not.

  • I hate going against scared hiding survivors - I really do. Throw all clicky click tbagging loopers at me I don't care as chases are fun and exciting.

Running around the map for so long that you think about the wear and tear of your controller/keyboard is not fun. It feels like a waste of time.

  • Oni's demon mode is definitely stronger than Billy's chainsaw as Oni's flick reaches around most common loops whereas Billy can -at best- curve around very basic loops with a lot of practice (and it's pretty easy to predict when a Billy tries to curve making it even easier to counter it).

Oni can literally dash against the wall, slide along it and flick around the next corner - Billy can not.

However since Billy has his power at all times it makes him the stronger overall killer. Unlimited map pressure and unlimited instadowns is hard to beat.

  • @starkiller1286 said:

Unlimited means 110s cant touch you unless you run into them or huntress hatchet hits. It makes 115 almost into 110 should they chase when it's active. I feel the 2 minutes is fine since it matches the EGC timer i think especially if the killers opens the door in an attemptt to get a Blood Warden play

All 110% killers have powers that are supposed to make up for speed deficits. Huntress throws hatchets, Hag can place traps, Gunslinger can shoot, Spirit can phase. Therefore that's no argument. If killers can't down someone using their power they don't deserve to get a kill in my book.

  • Played some killer games earlier and gotta admit it feels like wins are literally handed to me on a silver plate. Had a good looper in one match (have known him for years now so I know that guy is a looper) and even he went down like a rank 20 due to giant dead zones.

  • @Peanits said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1242253#Comment_1242253

This isn't true. Survivors do not get any free distance after vaulting a window. They will land at the same place they've always landed, they just don't get pulled back to the window and lose all of their momentum. That was a bug and it was previously not like that. Any hits you would have gotten due to the survivor getting pulled back to the window were due to a bug and should not have happened in the first place.

    Thank you.

So you're saying that it would be fine if there was some kinda condition you had to do before it activates?

I think that's kinda the reason people hate ds too, it's also a huge reward without having to do something for it

As silly as it sounds even DS has a requirement unlike noed. You have to hit the skillcheck. I'm not going to say it's difficult but it is a requirement nevertheless.

  • @bjorksnas said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1241433#Comment_1241433

most of the good pallets are gone? so that means most likely the killer is facing decent survivors who run with a plan. Then it would be perfectly fine to give them a second chance if the survivors use resources effectivly but not effective enough to be ready for the end game and possibly noed " WI T HO UT C LE ENSING totems btw" then its their own fault

No reason to get upset. As I said I personally just don't care about NOED as I play mostly killer anyways but I understand why people flame NOED and killers that run it.

  • Honestly - I feel like stealth killers shouldn't be any more brainless than they already are. A good stealth killer realizes when someone is running Spine Chill and adapts by approaching generators sideways basically hard-countering Spine Chill users.

Even I -a pure Bubba main since 2017- managed to adapt that one single time I played Ghostface. I noticed there was one single survivor that kept vanishing with no scratch marks everytime I approached their gen so I left and came back a few seconds later going sideways and caught them. That's easy enough in my book.

  • Many perks are often not used throughout a match depending on how the match goes so the "3 perk argument" isn't really valid in my book.

As for the complaints: Noed often allows killers who performed miserably to come back and even 4k as most (good) pallets are typically gone by the time the last gen pops. On top of the instadown NOED also grants a speed boost.

Basically you get a chance to come back and even win by doing nothing to deserve said power as opposed to something like Devour Hope where you got to get your hooks and keep your distance and gain stacks in order to become stronger.

Therefore it's the concept of NOED (perform miserable and get stronger in exchange) that makes people flame this specific perk and people who run it.

As for my personal opinion: I just don't care about it. Kinda sucks to not get hooked all game and win every chase just to die in one hit while opening the exit gate but that's just DBD.

  • Depends on my mood but usually I don't care too much about killing them all if I notice they don't even try to "fight back". If people fool around then so will I most of the time.

I play mostly killer and do get rank 1 survivor. Either you are greatly exaggerating or you are the most unlucky person in the game.

First of all the "I'm a rank1" argument means nothing since 99% of the community either is or was rank 1 at some point since ranking up requires the intelligence and skill of a grape.

Secondly moris have been EXTREMELY frequent for some folks including me.

I'm at more than 4k hours at this point and tend to go through killer phases a lot but play 50/50. Everytime I play survivor for an hour or two I see a mori AT LEAST every 5th game - AT THE VERY LEAST.

Killers can easily black pip on red ranks using moris and that's all that matters. What do you need a +pip for when you're a rank 1 killer?

to you, ok. people may have different sensibilities and maturity, but it has nothing to do with game balance or unfairness. that was the point, you feel mad about teabag, fine, but don't say that it's unfair, it just doesn't make sense.

I couldn't care less about tbaggers but I know people that literally quit the game because getting tbagged and messaged after losing multiple matches in a row just wasn't fun to them.

As a result I literally got no one to play the game with forcing me to play killer only as playing solo survivor is a waste of time in my book.

I wish people would just respectfully play with each other like grown ups instead of trying to intentionally piss each others off for literally no reason but I guess that's wishful thinking in a PVP game.

yes, I called it a killer perk. Once you got more than 10 hours in the game you will understand why.

  • You nearly 4k'd (one hatch escape judging by the points) against two rank 1s, one rank 3 and one rank 4 as a rank 9 killer with 3 perks yet you call survivors "op".

No. Because the biggest thing that defines better killer is his gameplan.

Except there's no such thing as a good plan in DBD since the success of ANY action depends on the mistakes of the opposite team. Your plan could be as basic as tunneling the first survivor but it happens to be the best looper or slugging but everyone runs Unbreakable and fixes gens injured rendering said plans useless even though it may have worked 100 times before.

Therefore everything is -to a very big extent- based on pure luck as soon as you reach a certain level of gameplay skill.
