How is a game where you cannot gain some of the most widely used perks without waiting for a whole year anything but pay2win?

Not to mention the recent billynerf/bubbabuff as well as the massive grind requirement to unlock the free characters.

I guess some people think that if it's not a mobile game with stamina timers then it can't be pay2win.

Bubba still gets beat by decent survivors and at the same time pro survivors get destroyed by Spirit which is a character that can be obtained via playtime/shards.

There's a reason everyone's playing Spirit during the DBD-tournament right now.

Also just because some paid content may be strong doesn't make the whole game pay2win.

As long as there are equally strong things for free/playtime you can't call any game pay2win.

  • I knew this thread will be about Corrupt Intervention before I clicked. The reason they wait it out is efficiency.

If you don't catch anyone within those 2 minutes you're playing a 3 perk game while they're still at their maximum numbers of hooks.

That's why I don't use Corrupt. It's a boring perk with boring counterplay.

  • Imagine running this build and the first killer you face is a tunneling Clown with exhaustion bottles 😂

  • I agree to some degree.

Killers should have a very high/near 100% chance to catch the survivor they decide to chase at this moment as there's 4 of them and all 5 gens can get repaired in as little as 3 minutes (as seen in an Otz match I posted).

However if survivors have no realistic chance to get a long chase using their mechanics (pallets/windows) their gameplay quality drops to 0% in the long run as chases are the fun part about survivor gameplay.

I doubt anyone clicks on "play as survivor" thinking "oh boy I can't wait to repair some gens!" (although gens get pushed quickly sometimes making it seem like some people really just want to hold the repair key/button).

Long story short: Providing both sides a satisfying gameplay experience is a difficult task but for now I agree killers should generally be able to quickly catch survivors until the game receives further changes.

If we ever get the Early Game Warmup thing the devs were talking about then I think the game can be designed around long chases as well allowing both sides to have fun and more time to do things in a match.

  • What do you expect when you "lol message" a complete stranger after making them disconnect? Obviously they'll not reply anything positive. As a rule of thumb: If you have nothing nice to say to another player just say nothing at all.

I know what your missing - simplicity.

Old bubba was simple in what he did and how he executed it. Rev, chainsaw away.

Now he's simple on what he does, but far too complex on how he executes it.

You gotta look at the tokens and press at the precise time or you wont get full efficiency, you also have to look at whats in front of you and cut around corners.

Add an extremely long tantrum on top of all this and it makes you wonder: "I'm literally just revving a chainsaw, why does this take so much effort?".

They've somehow managed to make the most simplistic ability in the game, complex.

Maybe you're right. His original rev mechanic made everything feel smoother and simple/enjoyable in my opinion. I genuinely liked charging it up, then holding it for a brief moment before releasing it and going into paintrain mode. The fact they copy/pasted Hillbilly's charge up mechanic makes him feel less unique and less smooth.

Don't get me wrong I don't struggle using new Bubba but he really does feel unnecessarily "complex" if that's the correct term.

  • @TheRockstarKnight said:

I wasn't a fan of new Bubba's new basekit, but Carburettor Tuning Guide and Primer Bulb really helped me.

Makes him more like his old self and less of new Bubba: which for me has generally been quite a lot of looking at the bottom left to see how many stacks I have and making sure I press M2 at the right time so I can keep chainsawing.

Granted CTG's an Ultra Rare add-on now, but I found it made him more like how he used to be. Maybe it'll provide some small measure of comfort to you too?

I haven't tried his ultra rares yet (as I don't want to get used to addons that aren't sustainable) but I will give them a try. I think one of the factors that I dislike about new Bubba is his charge up mechanic. It's Hillbilly's charge up mechanic which makes him even less "unique" than before.

It's just a small detail but it contributed to a different chainsaw "feeling" if that makes sense.

    @TAG said:

It's because you played him before it was cool. ;)

Haha yeah perhaps that's a factor as well. With his changes he has become a lot more mainstream as his chainsaw is an extremely reliable chase tool now making it easier to perform well than before his rework.

  • @Missing_Toe said:

Hey man, as an old Freddy main, I can relate. He’s too powerful now. Your skill developed over many games full of heart ache and pain means nothing any more. I barely played Bubba b4 and now I consistently play him in my rotation because he is much more noob friendly.

I had to let Freddy go, he was the reason I joined and despite his many flaws, I stuck by him. Now he is buff as hell and I don’t touch him. Doesn’t feel the same. You will probably, eventually, move on to a new killer.

He’ll always be with you in spirit~

I was about to say "is this what all the original Freddy mains felt like after his rework?"

I remember I had to make good reads and zone people smartly to get decent chainsaw hits or even multi-instadowns like these:

    https://youtu.be/lGKxqMhnqpg https://youtu.be/OIqayj_P3TE https://youtu.be/Qh8wiSwuJko

I used to record "legit" multi-instadowns all the time as they were EXTREMELY rare outside of camping. Now they happen almost every match.

  • Bragging? How? Every rank 20 has prestige skins.

Intimidating? How? Every rank 20 has prestige skins.

Stealthier skins? I really don't care about stealthing around after 4000 hours.

  • @Babyyy_Boyy what would you have done if you had been the Pyramid Head in the same situation?

  • @Moundshroud said:

The truth of the matter is that I have Face Camped a player before who was being extremely rude pre-game (knew him from previous rudeness post game) and he was doing all sorts of annoying stuff in the game I camped him. Even with me RIGHT there face camping him, the dedicated SWF of his pals were able to get him off the hook. It can be done. It happens every day. It just depends on whether there is a will for it to be done. :)

So you defend facecamping because you like to do it - what a surprise.

  • @KingFrost said:

    Simple solution:

-If the killer is in chase, gen speed is reduced by x%

-If a survivor is on the hook, gen speed is increased by x%

This means if a killer is camping a survivor, and is not in chase, gens are getting done faster.

It also slows down gen speeds a little.

That sounds pretty interesting not gonna lie. Also the numbers could be tweaked if balance became an issue so re-balancing would become easier over time.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/187733/survivors-should-have-boosted-action-speeds-when-the-killer-is-facecamping

How about you learn to coordinate with your teammates and train them not to be "idiots" as you call them. The fact that some Survivors are bad doesn't mean the other Survivors need a boost of any kind. Camping is a legitimate part of the game and the DEV had said time and time again this is the case. Learn to play around it or TEACH your partners in Survival. Quit looking for a handout at the expense of other Players.

How do you "train your teammates" when you're playing solo survivor?

  • - Her chase potential is 10/10 as her phasewalk is fast and unpredictable allowing her to consistently down survivors in a short period of time.

    - Her mobility is 10/10 as well as she can move around in her phasewalk with 100% movement control as opposed to Hillbilly for instance. As a result her mobility isn't affected by map design. Multiple floors and stairs? She doesn't care. She ALWAYS moves quickly from point A to point B.

    - she can find survivors quickly due to her phasewalk as people can't hide everytime they hear the phase sound thus shortening the phases between searching, hooking and chasing people. This naturally increases her map pressure.

    - the unpredictable nature of her phasewalk allows her to target-switch A LOT throughout the match which can result in many unexpected and sudden hits.

  • In that case: "all killers seem too strong and too easy when you're going against potatoes consistently".

  • All killers seem "too easy and too strong" when you're bad as survivor.

  • @Steel_Eyed said:

This is lag switching. Record video and send a support ticket to report. Their accounts can be banned.

To be fair only the Ash was cheating/lagswitching.

His friends were just swarming me like most SWF players. But yeah that Ash should receive a ban. I reported him in-game and could use this clip (without the censor bars) for a report ticket. However is his in-game name even enough information to ban him?

It's not like I was able to open his steam profile or something since I'm on console so he probably just changed his in-game name after the match I guess.

  • @Warcrafter4 said:

People saw this being used against tr3 and now we are getting copy cats.

This has been happening in my games as well but the lag teleporting part so survivors can escape loops without leaving scratch marks.

Not trying to make this topic a PC vs Console thing but if that's something only PC players can do I will probably disable crossplay for a while.

I already have to deal with random fps drops and generally low fps depending on the map. Don't want to deal with THAT kinda stuff on top of the fps issues to be honest.

  • Poor Vigil gamers. Iri Doctor on The Game map. Big R.I.P.

  • I don't think Oni is underrated at all. Anyone knows how easily Onis can snowball especially with Infectious Fright. However I think he still has that bug that causes him to be unable to activate his power sometimes unless it got fixed recently.

But if a survivor runs away before you reach them, and they hold W like most rank 1 survivors do, when you hit them. Then how do you catch up in 10-20 seconds because it is literally impossible.

Ranged attacks actually can allow you to get your down that quickly as you can injure survivors WHILE cornering/outpositioning them.

This is a clip of mine as Pyramid Head on red ranks (includes a screenshot) and as you can see all downs were within the 10-20 seconds range using exclusively Punishment of the damned:

    https://youtu.be/1Vx1Y94Dguk

Particularly the first survivor is a good example as she got injured AND cornered in that jungle gym.

She physically had 2 choices after getting hit through the wall:

    1) leave the jungle gym without knowing where I am exactly.

    or

    2) stay in said jungle gym and risk getting hit through the wall again.

Both cases resulted in a "theoretical" 10 second chase if we assume I would have hit her through the wall again in that jungle gym which I probably would have as I'm pretty accurate with Punishment Of The Damned more often than not.

  • Seems like there's loads of people that hate going against Pyramid Head.

    EDIT: Oops , wrong thread.

@topic: I would like to go against Myers more frequently.

  • Basement-chest-defender Trapper when?

I was just confused, like why are you upset yall played terribly. Then again the smol terror radius I had (8 meters) probably meant they couldn't hear me

Honestly people should be grateful to face a Myers. Can't remember the last time I faced one. Everytime I play survivor it's Freddy, Spirit, Nurse and then back to Freddy. Would like to see a few Myers players once in a while.

  • ToxicMyers: "I wasn't toxic"

    Untitled Image

On a serious note people usually dc if the match becomes an obvious fail on their side as they will depip and make little to no points so they probably think "why bother to play the rest of the match?".

On top of that DC penalty got turned off again so that might contribute to an increased DC rate. At this point people should be used to disconnecting players on both sides.

I don't even react anymore if someone disconnects. That's just dbd.

  • Everytime I verse a Demogorgon I end up offering myself as a free kill if we manage to open the gate and basically "win" because I feel bad for Demo players.

Last time I got chased to the gate the P3 Demogorgon seriously looked at the ground, turned around, walked away and started hitting a wall.

It looked so heartbreaking because of the cute flower shaped head.

Me and even another random survivor walked up to him and allowed him to kill us both. It was a wholesome moment.

  • Developers: *remove camping and slugging*

Killers: "well, tunneling it is then!"

    Survivors: "always has been."

  • There's no logical reason in my opinion as the perk's effect is countered by SWF, Bond, Aftercare, Empathy, Kindred, green key with aura addon etc.

Also the slugged survivor's aura gets revealed in a radius of 16 meters anyways so Knockout rarely bought you much time.

The basic attack nerf/requirement really wasn't necessary in my opinion.

  • I wonder if The Blight's sprint is affected by speed granting perks such as PWYF, Devour Hope (2stacks) etc.

If so he might be the fastest killer in the game if we're factoring powers as well although I don't know his % of speed yet.

  • Freddy.

He's just boring to go against as the chases are basically just not interactive regardless of whether he runs snares or fake pallets.

Even stronger killers are more fun to go again (i.e. Spirit) as I always "hope" she misses with her phasewalk resulting in exciting gameplay although it can be frustrating if she lands every single phasewalk-lunge as well. Still, it's just way more interesting to go against than "red pool of movement slowdown here and there and here comes the free hit!" or "haha that pallet is not real haha! Ez outplay!"

  • Pyramid Head is not a strong killer.

  • Which of his perks are concering and why? I really don't think I will ever use any of the Blight's perks to be honest.

If someone else is hooked, DS deactivates

If you are in a chase, DS timer pauses

    fixed

No offence but that's a bad idea.

"If someone else gets hooked = ds deactivates"

Yesterday a Bubba camped me. A teammate unhooked me (I'm solo so no Borrowed Time) just before I went into struggle. However Bubba mowed us both down before I was even able to run so he camped and tunneled me.

Obviously he hooked Claudette first. Now my DS would have been deactivated if DS worked like you propose even though he straight up camped and tunneled me (he kept tunneling me even after eating the ds).

"if you're in a chase, the ds timer pauses"

'Cocky' survivors would abuse it to chase the killer after their first hook allowing them to literally harrass them making it less of an anti-tunnel perk.

  • During the chainsaw attack you will notice the red powerbar going down. Tap the power key/button to use a charge whenever the powerbar reaches the number to get the most range out of the chainsaw attack. At base you have to use the first charge after 4 swings and the last charge after 3 additional swings.

Chilli addons increase the timing window thus allowing you to get an additional chainsaw swing per charge at perfect timing.

    Video sample:

    https://youtu.be/JTIvWH4JgYE

Particularly at 0:35 you will see me waiting till the very last millisecond before using the charges as indicated by the power bar as the survivor sprint bursted away forcing me to get the highest possible chainsaw range.

If you have more questions feel free to ask.

  • Pyramid Head and Doctor are broken? How? Because they can force M1 hits which is totally meaningless as long as everyone pushes gens as quickly as possible?

  • Legion is good at getting survivors injured and keeping them injured. The problem is good survivors don't give a damn about being injured. They'll just repair gens anyways.

That's when you realize "darn, my power doesn't actually do anything" because in a chase Legion becomes an ordinary M1 killer which means the chase duration depends entirely on the survivor's you face and the mistakes they make.

If you play against competent loopers and gen-aggressive survivors the injured survivors will just repair gens while you're hoping to mindgame that 1 injured looping survivor you've now been chasing for ages.

Therefore Legion is just a terrible killer by design in my book but that is just my opinion.

Not in my experience. I have found, in a rather long life at this point, that there is a direct correlation.

How we conduct ourselves in play is a direct reflection of how we conduct ourselves in life. If one cannot even display basic common courtesy in a make-believe game, it means they are waste of space in the real world too. Good sportsmanship is the most basic of lessons we learn, and probably only the second or third as we grow up. I make a "fuss" about it because such people deserved to be shamed. Society, and this gaming community is a society of a sort, only functions well based on common morays and etiquette. So yes, when people act like human garbage, I'm going to call them on it.

Sorry to burst your bubble but in-game behaviour reflects absolutely nothing about a person. One can act like a toxic, disgusting, childish kid in Dead By Daylight while being the most precious, caring and terrific human being in the real world.

  • While it may be scummy to dc I wonder why you are thinking about attributes like self respect and pride in a video game. At the end of the day games are played for fun and nothing else (unless you're a streamer who pretends to enjoy the game to pay the rent) so sone people will obviously just disconnect if the game's not fun for whatever reason. Nothing will ever change that so why even make a fuss about it?

  • This bug is extremely rare and at the same time probably as old as the game itself. If you get that bug you're basically playing the game on "I want to die"-difficulty.

You have to gen tap all game, heal tap teammates, pay more attention to what's happening to teammates by sounds etc.

The bug occurs as the game fails to initiate the transition from "map name" to "hud" which is why you can still see "Fractured Cowshed" in the bottom left corner of the image.

  • DS is fine.

If you don't tunnel you will most likely not get ds'd anyways and if you down everyone so quickly that you end up getting 59 second ds'd then you will most likely 4k anyways based on the pace of downs.

It's only overly strong during endgame but that doesn't justify a change to the perk in my book.

Also keep in mind it's still an one-time use perk with a skillcheck. Everyone messes up a skillcheck once in a while so even if you legitimately get tunneled off the hook chances are you mess up that skillcheck and wasted a perk slot making Decisive risky to a small extent.

  • Farming can turn into griefing if the other survivors help the killer by giving away your position, blocking you in a place allowing the killer you down/hook you and farming you off the hook until you die while the killer stands next to the hook not giving you a chance to play the game.

That's the kind of "farming" that's bannable as it's farming by working with the killer.

If a killer just innocently tries to get you to farm it's not bannable in any way as you can't force killers to "play seriously" since it would be impossible to determine whether someone played seriously or not.

They might be the last person alive and he refuses to kill them

If they're the last survivor and the killer refuses to kill them they can just escape via the hatch or the gate. How is that griefing?

  • You can't report a killer just because they're trying to farm. That's not griefing. Also how are they "trying to force you" when you can just finish the gens and move on to the next match?

Your nickname may sound tasty but that thread is bitter.

  • I don't understand the point behind that statement anyways because NOTHING in DBD requires extreme mechanical skills in the first place so why act like 1 specific killer was "ree no skill ree" ?

  • I would prefer an actual secondary objective. I don't want to look at a gen even longer no matter what. I want to move through the maps and do something other than repairing.

  • I wish all those "pc / console gamers suck" threads got removed. They contribute to nothing but toxicity amongst forum members.

  • This thread has way too many letters. I propose a slight nerf by adding a cooldown after each sentence.
