  • I'm not surprised. Most survivors literally play the game to hide behind a rock/in a bush all game (including most red rank potatoes).

  • Congrats for escaping the solo hell haha...

  • The Ruin/Undying/Tinkerer combo is not fine in my opinion as it allows bad/inexperienced killers to win even if they need minutes to get their hooks.

Also the reward is just way too high considering the required actions to use that build effectively.

The build literally tells you where to go and if you make it to the nearly finished gen (which is brainlessly easy when playing a mobility killer) all you have to do is chase them off to get a nearly finished generator back for doing nothing remotely skillful.

The survivors' alternative is cleansing basically every totem while revealing their aura which is another aspect of the combo that makes killer gameplay pretty brainless. You literally have to do NOTHING to find survivors. You get the chase for free.

Also cleansing every totem can be just another way to die to an OK-ISH killer as it may cause enough damage to the team resulting in a fairly simple win even with the loss of the hex perks.

    Just my opinion.

  • How do you know it was a console player? Microsoft store players have the global icon as well.

  • Not even joking. Object of Obsession makes my games so much easier as it literally cuts out the part where I have to waste time during the early-game looking for the first survivor.

    A few examples:

    https://youtu.be/V7MlBCK1wFY

I really wish more people ran that perk.

Game is a waste of time in reality

    How?

  • I suppose everyone knows people are hypocrites. Maybe that's one (of many) reason(s) why the devs won't ever give anything about player feedback.

  • No one enjoys getting punished for their sins!

Well, except for James, of course. Then again - he killed his own wife which arguably is a little more extreme than looping but Pyramid Head considers both actions a sin of equal value.

  • He probably just doesn't enjoy DBD anymore.

  • Yupp. Faced multiple OoO-teams today. Hopefully more people start using that perk. Makes it so much easier for me to get my first hook.

  • You could be missing skillchecks due to monitor/TV delay.

My TV has a setting that vastly affects the delay between me pressing the button and the game actually doing what I want and ever since I turned the setting on I've been pressing skillchecks TOO EARLY because I got used to a delay of a few milliseconds.

So maybe you just have to adjust your monitor/TV.

Forum does this to me often as well. I always do my draft in my notes app first now, then copy paste

I'm gonna do that as well from now on. Thank you.

Sounds more like a camping problem and not a DS problem.

Shouldn't DS help against a killer that camps and tunnels you off the hook (which in this case would deactivate DS by hooking the unhooker before you)?

Anyways I think current DS is fine. I have never lost a match solely because of the current version of DS.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

I think DS needs a nerf. I cannot tell you how many times I will hook someone, chase someone else, down them, hook them, find what happens to be the last survivor I hooked, down them, and eat a DS. Should I get a stopwatch? No. DS should deactivate when you hook another player. I shouldn't be punished for leaving the hook, allowing the person to be saved, and just chasing quickly.

You'll commonly see players run right to key generators after being unhooked because they know they're invincible so long as their DS is up. If I come back and chase them off a gen, they just hop in the nearest locker to force me to either leave or eat the DS. Should I just let them do the gen? No. DS should deactivate when a survivor is doing an objective.

I think that DS is a necessary perk in the game, but it needs to be changed into a proper anti-tunneling perk. Every time you eat a DS that's a free health state for a survivor, that's pressure on TWO survivors you're giving up (the one who was going to be hooked and the one who was going to have to unhook them), and that's probably at least another 20-30 seconds to catch and re-down the person who DS'd you. Worst case, you might have to just give up the chase entirely. That's the effect for ONE DS. When a whole squad runs it it's even more powerful, because there will be at least someone with it active for most of the match that can push risky objectives, take hits they have no business taking, aggro the killer and hop into a locker, etc... Having an effect that strong makes a lot of sense for deterring tunneling, but making that effect so easy to trigger against a killer that's not tunneling is honestly pretty busted.

Quote: "DS should deactivate when you hook another player."

So you're saying DS should be useless?

Huntress, Bubba, Billy, Myers, Ghostface, Pyramid Head, Plague with blood vomit, killers with maxed out STBFL (looking at you Demogorgon) etc.

All of them can effectively down/slug the unhooker quickly/instantly, tunnel you off the hook and deactivate your DS by hooking the slugged unhooker before you.

My main struggle is anti looping with the saw.

My build is BBQ, Enduring, Bamboozle, and Pop. Build advice would be helpful.

I don't have a lot of perks on him.

I literally tried to post some sort of a guide on Anti-looping with the chainsaw but the forum decided to collapse and delete everything so I will make it quick:

Anti-looping with the chainsaw comes down to these factors:

    - chainsaw speed (affected by addons)

    - chainsaw range (affected by addons)

    - chainsaw control (your ability to avoid objects, corners, edges etc. while curving closely around everything)

    - chainsaw charge timing (consuming the charges too quickly may reduce your range significantly)

    - map knowledge

    - and your ability to recognize weak pallets that can be anti-looped.

Example of a pallet than can be anti-looped effectively:

    https://youtu.be/mdIO3suzz2A

Long story short: Anti-looping is mostly about practice and experience.

As for builds I personally don't run any regression perks (anymore) as I think Bubba's snowball potential can make up for gen speed but you can obviously run them.

Enduring however is really not necessary as you can force down most pallets with his default chainsaw range anyways.

Bamboozle is obviously good on him as it's a synergy perk.

I would swap BBQ with Infectious Fright as it's another synergy perk that vastly increases his snowball potential.

Example (will be added later on):

    https://youtu.be/YTKt4F3eiOM

  • What exactly is it that you struggle with? Timing the charges? Anti looping with the chainsaw? Builds?

What do you usually run on him?

  • Kinda overrated perk imo.

That 5 second stun does nothing in most of my matches (as killer).

I just eat the DS if I tunnel someone and return to the gens after eating said stun. It will result in a quick next chase and 1 defended gen most of the time.

  • Quote: "Bubba is just so ... low and cheap. No respect."

My Disappointment Is Immeasurable And My Day Is Ruined.

  • There's literally 0% difference between red ranks and green ranks anyways so who cares? I've started a speedrun from rank 20 to red ranks on my second account and feel literally no difference at all. Even some yellow ranks play like many red ranks and vice versa.

That would be kinda op if it had that effect with vigil

At least it would take up 2 perk slots to have that strong effect. That's 1 perk slot that could be DS, Unbreakable, Adrenaline etc.

But I agree that kinda combo would be annoying to deal with unless you play one of the killers who can totally ignore speed boosts.

  • The effect of Sprint Burst is stronger than Dead Hard in my book - however the downside of having to 99 it for max efficiency and being unable to 99 it when working on a gen makes it somewhat worse than Dead Hard.

If Vigil (for instance) allowed you to hold it on 99 even while sitting on a gen and then use it on demand during your chase then it would be better in every way imo.

  • All I can say it's more scary to go against Trapper (imo) as you become so paranoid at every loop that you end up messing up because you hesitate vaulting a window for instance.

A Hex that affects player selection. Whenever you press the Ready button, your opponent/opponents/teammates will be picked to ensure the trial is as unfair as possible.

Players' levels will be 6/12/20 ranks apart and players' individual playtimes will be 10s/100s/1000s hours apart.

    Hex:Matchmaking affects all players.

The effect persists even if the associated spaghetti code is cleansed.

"A curse is upon you, in the form of a job which has been pretty good so far."

That's pretty creative... And surprisingly accurate hahaha.

  • Not sure if it qualifies as a "wholesome" moment but I got this triple-instadown the other day:

    https://youtu.be/YTKt4F3eiOM

And despite basically getting an easy win I decided to let the 4th survivor go (who worked on a gen on the other side of the map while injured) because it must have felt horrible/frustrating to see the entire team go down while you are actually doing your objective while injured instead of crouching in some random bushes.

  • Yeaaaaaah one can not simply compare him to us. We are just ordinary mortals. He on the other hand has reached a level of power one might think he is the real omnipotence itself.

On a serious note I watched his first DBD clip and he appears to be pretty talented.

He even did really well on his first match as Nurse at Lery's.

  • @MisterCremaster said:

Why have you spent 3,230 hours doing an activity you do not find enjoyable, nor get paid to do?

Gameplay can be addictive yet frustrating at the same time. Obviously you want something that's addictive to you to be enjoyable/healthy so the thread and the massive hours op has put in the game makes sense to me.

  • Honestly I would rather just play another game than go in a match thinking "oh boy I'm so gonna camp and tunnel everyone!" .

Why waste your time playing a game you obviously don't enjoy?

  • You forgot to mention Demodoggo's global scream when opening a locker. It's hilarious when you think about it. Every global killer sound basically informs survivors and lets them know it's safe to work on gens for that very moment so Demogorgon mains basically have to think twice before opening a locker as it could speed up gen progress (potentially).

I not specifically asking them to nerf their own game. Just giving suggestions for a better gameplay experience. Instead of survivors rushing through gens why not give them a little obstacle that slows the game down 'just a little bit' maybe taking what King mentioned in one of his videos, putting switches on the map that have to be flipped in order for survivors to work on specific gens and maybe when they flip that switch the killer gets notified of that switch. But it's just suggestions nothing to get bent over like LetsPlayTogether was

That idea with the switches sounds interesting. Like a tiny 2nd objective. Anyone have a link to the clip of King? I don't usually watch his content.

  • Being forced to play with only 1 perk because of friends would make the game monotone. You wouldn't be able to play any builds which is the only thing that keeps survivor gameplay interesting.

  • Was this the killer by any chance?

  • Unlimited Distortion would counter multiple killer perks (some of which are even HEX perks) and addons such as BBQ, Nurse's Calling, Hex: Retribution, Hex: Undying etc.

Therefore it would be op as you're 1 out of 4 survivors.

1 survivor perk shouldn't beat multiple killer perks/addons.

EDIT: Also Object of Obsession is a thing soooo... Yeah.

  • The most depressing part of the game is the fact that your individual skill doesn't really matter on both sides.

    - You can be a god-survivor and still die every single match to a completely clueless and new killer if your team is a useless bunch of hiding chickens.

    - You can be a god-killer and still get a 0k if survivors are "decent" at looping and aggressive on the gens.

  • Where can I watch the 5 minute chase?

  • DS is not even an optional perk in my opinion. The vast majority of killers WILL tunnel (and camp) whenever the team actually does gens (regardless of ranks).

Obviously only few killers will "play dirty" if no one is doing gens (which becomes fairly obvious to the killer when they chase/hook multiple people and there's still 5 gens left after a minute or two).

So yeah, always run DS. You still have 3 other perk slots in case you want to run some "fun" perks.

As killer I ALWAYS expect EVERYONE to run DS and Borrowed Time. I'm shocked and nearly disappointed when I actually find someone who got fresh off the hook and they don't have ds. I just chase them and pick them up immediately depending on the number of gens.

I never tunnel intentionally (since I have an instadown anyways so ALL survivors are vulnerable at all times) but I also won't ignore people that got recently unhooked if they run into me unless I see someone else at the same time.

  • You said looping was "tedious"

  • @justtrynaplay said:

If you had actually read the thread you would’ve seen i don’t have a problem with chasing it’s just looping that i find tedious

No offence but walking in a straight line and pressing M1 is brainless. I don't even call it a chase.

Looping is the reason this game is still alive. I wouldn't even want to play killer if you basically won by existing which is pretty much the case if all you need to do is follow the survivor in a perfectly straight line until you can press M1.

  • I love the idea of the perk (getting rewarded for your performance).

    However:

    - hooking the obsession doesn't grant you stacks.

    - the obsession is not affected by your stacks.

    - the obsession gets a 33% altruism action speed bonus.

    - and if said obsession dies the perk gets disabled.

That's A LOT OF downsides considering it only slows down 3 out of 4 survivors by a lousy 3% per stack.

Soooo one could say the perk is pretty interesting but certainly not A tier - at least not in my opinion.

  • A stereotype P3 Claudette with Object of obsession, Dead Hard, Decisive Strike, Adrenaline disconnected after I downed her quickly at the start of the game as Bubba... At the killer shack... What does that tell you about certain players (not survivors/killers. just PLAYERS). And no, the basement didn't spawn below shack so that wasn't the reason.

Exactly. Some people don't want to play the game unless they feel like they can bully the other player.

Now you tell me what Pyramid Head is known for.

    Is it:

    A) he can't be bullied in a 1 v 1 due to his anti loop power?

    or is it:

    B) he typically gets looped for 5 gens ez pz?

Long story short: Play Pyramid Head all you want and ignore those that try to tell you what character to play. Some of those guys aren't looking for any challenge and just want to boost their egos by looping some basic M1 killers like Wraith.

    Theory != Practice

A lot of things can be good on paper but they suck big time in game. Repressed Alliance is one of these things.

True. The 1 minute repair condition makes it pretty situational. It can even help the killer to some extent if something like this happens:

"the gen is on 80% when the Ruin/Undying/Tinkerer killer chases you off the gen. You block the generator and the chase begins. Another survivor finds the gen but can't finish it because you blocked it. Now you get downed/hooked and the killer returns just before the other survivor finishes the gen. The killer managed to defend the gen because YOU blocked it for 30 seconds. YOUR perk helped the killer. The gen is now regressing while you're hooked / the other survivor is getting chased."

So yes, it is definitely a situational perk with some risk to it but the effect can be pretty good.

  • The perk effect is amazing against the Pop/Corrupt/BBQ or the Ruin/Unding/Tinkerer meta - at least on paper.

  • Haven't really read much about next gen consoles yet. Is there gonna be much of a difference between the Series X and PS5 performance wise?

  • Using my chainsaw sometimes causes the entire game to freeze for a solid second during the chainsaw sweep animation which means I can physically not activate my charges sometimes thus allowing survivors to make it to the next tile instead of getting downed. Kinda annoying but I've gotten used to to getting robbed occasionally.

I don't even get mad about it because I know survivors have to deal with the same issue especially if status effects come into play.

  • Honestly all killers are good against typical/most survivors if you play said killer decently.

At the same time most killers get destroyed by optimal survivor teams/SWF.

Therefore I suggest to get the killer that provides the most fun factors (as you can NOT win all matches anyways) to you which brings me to the following questions:

What do you enjoy as killer?

Do you want to go fast?

    Find people fast/easily?

    Sabotage their escape paths/loops?

Sneak around and take survivors by surprise?

    Defend generators?

  • That's just beautiful... and surprisingly accurate hahaha.

  • Yesterday you complained about Sprint Burst and acted like it was totally broken and needed a nerf and now you're saying console players are terrible at the game? Ok then.
