BBQ has tons of easy counters.

Hiding your aura behind a gen, lockers, getting inside the radius, etc.

It’s not so much the number of counters as it is the number of players in a Solo match who never use them.

  • Memeing helps revive this game from the everyday grind. I find it refreshing on both sides... wish it happened more often, imo.

  • It’s all about the BBq.

    99% of players run it.

Understandable if they wanna take a SWF to task, but a top tier player (can’t say red rank anymore) w BBq on Solos makes for a quick n easy 3-4K.

Spirit tend to be some of the most boring matches for survivors, as they’re ALL the same, save for that 1 percentile who can play w/o the ‘que.

  • Most the Reds I get are decent.

Its the purple and greens that are getting tossed into the mix that are well less-than par. Understandable, but why (especially when playing as survivor) are there 2 purples and a green with a Rank 1-2 survivor and a Rank 1-2 killer. It usually amounts to a quick slaughter. Even after a decent chase, I see them walking around aimlessly, almost as if they feel they have 30min to finish the trial.

Anymore, I’m not sure what the “ranks don’t matter” argument’s percentages really are.

If they don’t matter, then I haven’t had it proven to me well enough, yet. Sure, there are tier’s to player’s loop skills, but what I see many survivors doing (or not doing) in matches is a bit concerning.

Everyone plays their own style, in whatever mood they’re currently in, I suppose

Also, how effective will MMR really be when it’s fully functional, because the last run was all over the place.

  • @ClickyClicky said:

First of all this is not 4%. It's far too common for that. It's basically every other game now, in some games multiple survivors are doing it - no luck offerings or perks btw.

Secondly it's probably the worst of all second chances. Why? because it's free. Doesn't even take a perk slot, it's just the game slapping you in the face.

It's getting to the point where I'm having to face camp survivors just to make sure they don't jump off. If they can find hatch it's basically a free escape.

“If they can find hatch it's basically a free escape.”

    True.

Although, I’m not seeing kobes as often as you are... it’s a legit feature, imo.

Still, 3 out of 4 survivors killed is GGs all day.

  • @Xpljesus said:

Problem is it's super oppressive vs solo survivors, who are already the weakest role in the game by far, with no totem counter, comms, etc. It's more unhealthy than unfair because of this if there is a problem, I personally run Detective's Hunch in my main build though.

    Yes. All true👆🏽

Undying was another perk designed primarily around keeping mostly SWFs (all survivors, certainly) off the immediate 4person gen rush and onto the cleansing objective. Coms negate the full effect of this perk.

Solo survivors again get the oppression.

I Main Solo queue, and I’ve experienced it all.

Realistically tho, most experienced Solo survivors should have a fairly decent idea of how to “play together” as a team of Solos functioning w/o the coms and still have a somewhat fun match.

With everyone having their own style gameplay, someone needs to create a

    SOLO SURVIVAL CODE OF GAMEPLAY

or some kind of Solo guidelines manifesto and pass it around to everyone.

With this, players should be able to have more cohesively eventful matches, despite the downset brought on by all the catering to SWF.

DUDE you do NOT want that LOL. If you think this game was any better for killers in 2016 I have some bad news for you lol.

    Yeah, I understand that

It’s moreso to enjoy the game before it became such a competitive onslaught spiraling into a breeding ground for toxicity. A free from coms, semi-decent, fun environment.

I actually think it would be an event in itself to watch the upper most echelon (like the top of the top tier) killer players of 2020 going against 2020 non-SWF survivors in those conditions and environments with those 2016 perks... maybe even bare bones.

Be cool to try out some of the god loops as a survivor too. Never really got to enjoy that.

  • As killer, MyC has proven to be substantially more beneficial to me, and as both killer and survivor, I never found Thrilling to be very effective. Not sure why it’s all the rage amongst the killers, but it’s pretty popular.

I always base those decisions on playstyle

  • Interesting proposal.

I’m down for almost anything, atm

Anymore, I wish we could go back and play this game in the earlier stages of its release.

I disagree on the "Rage" aspect. I refer to it as a "rage" quit because the quit was due to circumstances the survivor didn't like.

Quitting because something out-of-game came up (Maybe you just realized you're late for work, or you suddenly have to take a bathroom break, etc.) is different than quitting because you don't like the killer, or the map, etc.

In many games people refer to "Rage" hackers. A "Rage" hacker is a cheater who is being super blatant and in your face about the cheating. I.E. someone in Counter-Strike who is using a spinbot to spin around extremely fast and using both auto-aim and auto-shoot script thing so the game pretty much plays itself getting headshots. Or he's using a cheat to see through walls and is making zero effort to hide it, even shooting through several layers of concrete with the AWP at peoples heads.

The cheater isn't really raging while he's cheating, (Although often there's cases where a player either won't be cheating, or will be cheating but be very subtle around it. Like he'll have wall-hacks, but WON'T preemptively line up headshots or try to shoot through the wall. He WILL still take corners without enemies carelessly/quickly, but every time there's an enemy around the corner he magically takes it slowly even if nobody else saw the enemy player there and he wouldn't have had any reason to know. Then, after his team is losing, near the end of the match, he suddenly turns on auto-aim, spinbot, etc and carries his team to a comeback.) we still refer to it as rage-hacking. (As mentioned, there are times where someone starts the match either clean or pretending to be clean, then toggles on the blatent cheats after his team is losing.)

Same can be said with quitting. There's a difference between quitting unintentionally (Power outage, internet outage, game crashes), quitting intentionally due to out-of-game reasons (Something IRL came up) and quitting intentionally for in-game reasons. (Killer did something survivor does not like.)

It's the latter that most people refer to as rage-quitting. Even if the player is calm and collected about it, he's still obviously upset or unhappy enough to the point he's deciding to leave the match to find a different, more "Favorable" one.

A rage quit is when the player in sports or video gaming is too angry to continue playing a game and usually leaves before the end of the game or match. The player may then throw or smash their controller/keyboard in response to their "rage" to the point where it is broken and unusable.

Look above your comment and you can see some of the add-ons the files has

    Interesting.

Can firecrackers cause the killer to drop a carried survivor like a flashlight beam?

Haven’t ever experienced anyone doing that.

  • Wonder what effects the add-ons would’ve had on the Firecrackers

  • BBq, Ruin, Thana, Pop, Infectuous, Sloppy, Nurses

BT, DS, DH, SB, UB, Adrenaline

Those are some top tier Meta Perks.

  • RAGE quitting is a Stereotype that cannot be applied to ALL players.

There should be a differentiation between player’s current emotional status during Disconnects.

A intentional DC is a DC no matter what, always inappropriate and should be frowned upon by the community.

Nevertheless, to insinuate that ALL players who DC from a match are “RAGE” quitting would imply that their current mood or temperament is that of a infuriated nature.

We never can know this truth, ever.

I’ve personally watched streamers DC from matches calm, peaceful and content to step into another opportunity... no RAGE, no anger, no aggression, no hostility, no infuriation. Simply a mild mannered, calm demeanor, same-happy-mood DC.

Calling everyone who DC’s a RAGE quitter is both inaccurate and incorrect.

I cannot believe the players in any community, and especially the Devs of games, use this as a generalization toward other players.

Players should never DC, period... intentional disconnecting is Quitting (which absolutely makes them a Quitter) but they shouldn’t be labeled as “RAGING” when this isn’t always (quite possibly seldom is) the case.

    Quitting is rude to everyone.

Calling all people who quit ENRAGED is also rude.

I hear people using this term all the time, and I just thought I’d spotlight that truth.

  • I’ve waited til reaching lvl 70 during Tome III and Tome IV before I purchased the Rift Pass.

During Tome IV I reached lvl 70 with 19 days remaining before the closing of the Rift.

    I agree with this method.

Hopefully there won’t be any future alterations that would force players to purchase immediately.

  • Right on!

Thankfulness is a healthy necessity in maintaining positivity. Keep it up!

Also, I must say, you have impressive uniformity in your leveling up of characters.

Almost displays a sense of organization and patience, imo, idk. Quite nice🙂

I love them! I know I haven't done the new thread because I moved to killer to level up spirit and do that one challenge that's giving me trouble ugh. I still have only gotten 1/3.

No worries, these forums aren’t going anywhere anytime soon. Always be plenty of ppl here to give you builds to try out when you are finished leveling up.

  • For sure!

Thanx for asking. It always makes for some good back an forth convos. Also, thx for playin thru the builds we give you and posting the games; its fun to watch the matches an see how it all plays out!

  • Fragments don’t really concern me, if they’re there then it’s a bonus. The auric cells the rift provides is plenty. I would LOVE if there were more challenges, tho. I really enjoy dailys and completing challenges.

    I’ve purchased every rift pass.

As long as there is at least 1 big reward (usually cosmetics) that I really want, then I’ll keep purchasing them.

I'll preface with this: this was a while ago and I didn't reply to them. Rolled my eyes, deleted the message, life goes on. I was also a bit wary of posting this since many people feel they need to defend themselves as if I am making an accusation or "woe is me" type post. I do not know life differently, it's not something I see a negative as much as just life. I am not posting this for sympathy, nor am I accusing anyone of doing these things. Some may also think I'm lying, since I deleted the message because I don't care what some random toxic survivor thinks of me. I have no reason to lie, but this is the internet, so you should be taking things with a grain of salt anyways.

Yes, I am. I was born with a disability that severely impacts my motor function. And it took me more than a decade of extremely nuanced OT to be able to even properly hold a PS4 controller.

I am very disabled when it comes to manual dexterity and motor function. Always have been, I was born with it. I am 19 years old and it takes me 2 minutes to tie one of my shoes. I couldn't play anything more difficult than Pokemon as a child. It took about a decade of specialised therapy to be able to do what can now. Taunt me all you want, I'm just happy I can actually play the game from a physical standpoint.

But I'm not the only bad killer who gets taunted for being bad. And I'm not the only disabled person playing the game. It doesn't bother me on a personal level because I am just happy that I can play, but it very much bothers me that people feel like they can go around saying these things.

I'm not accusing anybody of anything, of course, I will always give the benefit of the doubt.

I just think it's important to know that there are people who are fully okay with saying these things over a VIDEO GAME. If this person met me irl they wouldn't know I had a disability because I've learned to live with it in a way that lessens the burden on me, and makes me look more normal.

In the end though what does it matter? This person has the audacity to say these things, my life goes on and I'm the one using government funds to buy more DLC.

    (But also...please don't do this)

I kno people who play DBD who are deaf and who have that listed in their profile.

They jus wanna have a fun time and enjoy the game.

Disparaging comments made toward them don’t necessarily make them feel welcome to come back an try to continue having a good time.

There is a competitive nature that has positioned itself amidst the good nature of DBD... unfortunately, along with it came a festering toxicity.

Remember that nothing anyone says or does can ever take away from how Awesome you are.

DBD should have a zero tolerance policy for all types of slandering.

Hopefully you will keep playing; if you do, jus be sure to report those players who use those offensive slurs against you.

Try an stay positive, not everybody in the community is mean and insensitive.

I never use bbq unless I'm grinding for bp....otherwise I never use it and it's never been apart of my favorite builds....what's your nerf for it? it's a basic perk that has tons of counter play so I don't think BHVR will ever touch that one

I don’t kno that BBq really even needs a nerf or a rework.

    Godot mentioned:

“killer perk that's always in every killer's build”

and I immediately thought of how I see killers running BBq in majority of matches.

The whole nerf this buff that back and forth convo gets stale after while. Continual buffing and nerfing has only led to more continual buffing and nerfing.

    Doesn’t seem overly productive, imo.

  • @Tactless_Ninja said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1664805#Comment_1664805

BBQ is actually healthy for the game though. It gives the killer a means to move on to a different objective, and rewards them for spreading out. And it has a number of counters from hiding in closets, to being too close to activate.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1664806#Comment_1664806

If I wanted to complain about overused perks on survivors, I'd have another DS, BT, OoO, and DH are TOOOOXIC thread.

Spine Chill is like Slippery Meat where it's function directly countered an advantage the killer had except on a broader scale than just the Trapper. It's too passive. Other passive perks like Bond have a counter which is blindness. So why doesn't Spine Chill have one? And don't give me the "just don't look" schlock. Why don't you ask everyone to not wear headphones either. Hell, play with only one hand too.

I never suggested anything about BBq not being healthy,

nor did I make any ludicrous suggestion like,

Hey! Let’s have BBq reveal the killer’s aura everytime a survivor get’s stealthy in a locker!

I was merely replying to that post of Gadot’s about it being in almost every build.

A killer is going to move on to another objective regardless. They can stay and camp that hook they just got, while the remaining gens get banged out and they end up with minuscule BPs, or they can move on to another objective. BBq just makes it easier to proceed on to locate the survivor, much like Spine Chill makes it easier to proceed on in evading the killer.

Besides the function of the perk itself provides enough evidence to debunk the “but why should it work on stealth killers!?” complaint:

”Get notified when the Killer is looking directly in your direction“

Even though the killer is cloaked or shrouded in stealth, the killer’s eyes are still “looking directly in survivor’s direction.”

This completely validates the perk enough to debunk the “but stealth!” argument.

There are a plethora of aura reading perks and add ons for the killer to incorporate into their gameplay. Yet another survivor perk providing the killer with aura abilities is overkill. Spine chill itself doesn’t even allow the survivor to see the killer’s aura, and it’s a survivor Perk... now you’re proposing it actually reveal the survivor’s aura.

Why anyone would bother to bring that in a match is silliness.

  • @Godot said:

Imma pull a "whataboutism" and say that if you're gonna rework Spine Chill, then rework/nerf a killer perk that's always in every killer's build.

BBq is in contention for “always in every killer’s build”... perhaps almost always, as I encounter it approximately 95% of the time.

Almost seems like killers feel they need their Bbq in order to have a legitimate cookout... idk, Never use it, personally.

  • I play on console and I don’t tunnel...

    with any killer, especially Nurse.

...don’t use BBq either, but that’s besides the point, I suppose

    Awesome!!!

    It is a big accomplishment

I never thought much about ranks until I got to 7. That was the first time I saw a Rank 1 player with the little survivor icon at the top. I thought it was so neat an I pressed on til I finally got it.

Except players can just leave a lobby if their friends are not in it and queue up again until they all get in the same lobby, like I said we used to do back before SWF was a thing.

Exactly, they’ll piss around for as long as it takes 2,3,5,7,10, 20+ min dodging lobbys until they finally get ALL their team in. Once (if ever) they do, they’ll have no coms.

Possible most players won’t bother with all of that wasted time and will just legit SWF.

Plus, being that you and your friends did that legit back when there wasn’t SWF, now that there IS a SWF feature, (and hypothetically speaking that this new mode would be put into play) why would you want to try over and over for as long as it takes, exploiting the game’s mechanics, to illegally lobby up with your friends without coms just so you could deviously sync perks to bully the killer.

I just think you personally wouldn’t do that, as well as many others wouldn’t bother trying to do that.

Maybe some would try, but the truth of the issue is that the percentage of fair and balanced legit matches would by far outweigh the number of matches where players would use up all that time trying to sync up their team for a comless match.

There would be much less complaining from both sides with highest percentages of fair and balanced matches dominating DBD.

Only a hand full of derelicts trying to cheat the newly implemented system wouldn’t bring that down.

And we can both play devil’s advocate back and forth all day, but you have to admit that it seems like a step in a better direction than the same old nonsense that hasn’t worked for the past 4 years.

  • @Orion said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1663585#Comment_1663585

That would just make groups of 2 and 3 players dodge lobbies until they were all matched together. It's how we did it back in the old days before SWF was a thing.

Players must register to be on a SWF.

one time registration to play SWF with anyone.

Those who don’t register, never SWF, only Solo queue.

It will only be possible for 1 registered SWF (who is non SWFing) to be loaded into Solo lobby at a time, therefore eliminating the chance for lobby dodging to get a combo match with fellow SWF friends.

Players will want to SWF so they can have coms, so they’ll register for that. They’ll be forced to find a team of any 4players in order to play. If they don’t, they’ll play in a lobby with 3 solo survivors (no other registered SWFs) and no coms.

So if players didn’t register, then they never play with coms. If they then wanted to continuously dodge lobbys to finally get loaded in with 2 or 3 or all 4 of their friends who didn’t register (however long that would take every single time they want a match) Then they still don’t get the coms in that match.

It forces the issue to all players of choosing either SWF or Solo.

  • Amusing watching survivors try to get the Broken Key holder to to open the hatch.

  • Think about this as a solution:

Solo Queue and SWF are 2 separate games with 2 separate icons on main menu screen.

    Solo one game... no coms.

    SWF another game, coms.

Have to have 4 ppl to SWF or your party won’t enter into a lobby. Cannot play SWF w/o 4ppl

No 4ppl, then you play Solo queue.

Killers get a buff, then are even across the board; ie. no buffing nerfing them anymore after their perks, add ons, powers are adjusted to contend with SWF.

SWF and Solo have same perks/add ons/items etc... SWFs are nerfed a bit, Solo’s are buffed a bit.

By selecting the SWF icon you’ll be playing a separate coms 4person game with everything nerfed.

Select the Solo icon, enter into a lobby with 3 other random survivors who have somewhat buffed variations of all the perks, items etc.

Killer icon plays out the same way as current. Click Killer enter into a lobby with either a 4person com’d SWF team, or a ENTIRELY Solo comless team.

With adjusted perks etc., every match will be fair and balanced.

  • @azame said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1663356#Comment_1663356

It's just that how are these guys even considered "high rank." It confuses me. Then they can't do anything productive. It makes me consider becoming a killer main because then I dont have to have bad teammates holding me back.

“It makes me consider becoming a killer main because then I dont have to have bad teammates holding me back.”

Every time this Solo queue discussion comes up, many people voice this same frustration. Also, they’ll say that they are only playing SWF from now on and no more Solo queue.

It’s almost as though this mentality is what the devs are aiming for so the balance will only be around SWF. They can then adjust the killer and survivor perks, items, add ons, etc. around a 4man SWF team like they’ve been doing. There isn’t much evidence of any other attempts at a full balance.

  • Devs seem to have been attempting the balancing around SWF.

SWF coordinate perks and execute a TRUE 4vs1 gang-up on Killers. 5th perk coms only intensifies the OP factor.

Thus, devs have given killers very decent counters in add-ons, mori’s, some fairly strong perks, close proximity exit gates etc. These are a few of the ways to help killers against a 3-4person SWF team.

Solo queue doesn’t always seem like it’s 4vs1 when perks aren’t coordinated, coms aren’t active, and everyone is playing their own style of game and not in a perfect flow like SWF.

Killers can sometimes seem like OP bullies in Solo matches, for this reason. Realistically, many killers anticipate a OP SWF team and prepare accordingly with a build/ add-ons that may feel unfair to Solo.

Solo queue is jus somewhat of an unfair challenge that I’ve come to enjoy. It’s all I play, and it feels good knowing (as much as killer players complain about unfair SWFs) that I’m not a 5th perk using killer bully.

It’s harder to escape, double pipping in many consecutive matches when playing Solo queue then it is in a special ops SWF.

  • @Orion said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1663261#Comment_1663261

    Indeed.

The best way to punish DCers, IMO, would be to force them all into the same lobbies. Everyone else gets normal trials, the DCers get to (not) play together.

This is probably the best option.

Force DCers to play a certain amount of time within consecutive matches without DCing in order for them to get out of “DC jail.”

This way, (using a actual time clock, as opposed to just a specific number of matches to get out) if other players DC in-match, it doesn’t credit the other players in the match who don’t DC to get out sooner. They all must individually reach the magic number of hours in-match before they are released back into “normal trials.”

Just need to have enough killer DCers to accommodate the number of survivor DCers, although, that’s the other downside to the DC prison... the lobby times could be fairly long depending on high/low rate of DC.

  • Think the last road map they released was back in June of 2019

...idek why they haven’t provided another; unless I missed it?

  • Yep, that’s about all of it.

    EDIT:

    I rank them the same.

  • ‘Cause they know she’s hot and can’t find the proper way to tell her they like her,

so they act like little bullies to try an impress her

...then she slaughters them all, and they realize they never even had a chance at that SuperBae❣️

Ok, so I decide to start my day with a little Spooky Myers. I have a Hawkins map and throw it in. Chances are someone else will also put in a map, or block all map offerings. But I had it so what the heck! By the campfire I see an Adam (in Lab coat), a Cheryl (Nurse outfight), a classic Dwight, and I'm not sure about the other one because I never saw him/her in the game at all after the campfire (can't remember).

I got to keep the map, so I'm fired up and figure it will be a good Jump Scare start to the day. I run into the Adam first, and jump scare him and hit him. I hit him once. He disconnects. Ok. I make a mental note to take it easy on the remaining three and let them get two Generators before I really bring any heat. I run into the Cheryl next hit her, she runs off, intercept her later and hit her again for the hook. She disconnects. Ok. The mystery third person (who I can't remember) disconnects. The only person left is the Dwight who, to his credit, soldiers on.

Now I've seen this Dwight moving about and he has some good evasion Skills. I'm tracking his movement, and I know he is looking for the hatch. Kudos to you Dwight. You did it right. He gets out through the hatch, and to be honest he deserved it. I make no attempt to wall hack intercept him. Playing a tough game to the bitter end shows the mettle of a man or woman.

To you other three, who happen to be Red and Purple Ranks (SERIOIUSLY?), what exactly are you made of that you quit like that? Is that how you got yourself up in Rank while the rest of us worked for it? Or were you some sort of lame streamer who discovered it wasn't going to be some early morning potato you could bully, and just jumped ship? You have earned this "Profile in Cowardice" and I'm strongly considering posting it to Youtube to give you the 15 minutes of shame you deserve.

    It’s a really great example👆🏽

I’ve escaped or at least ended up with a safety or +pip by staying the course and playing the game.

    Everyone has that same chance.
