No Perks that benefit just me, no Perks that help towards Generator/Exit Gate progression, no gimmick Perks that could somehow be used to help others.

Only Perks that directly help others out, and if you must, also Perks that directly help others out and yourself as well.

I'm one of the few to not complain about some solo stealth on Generators, but i wanna do a 180: Get out there hardcore and help others even at my own cost.

3.Myers a bit clunky with the feet an super heavy mask breaths

4.Pig usually see her coming, tho sometimes think the’s an urban evading survivor and “wrOar!Surprise!”

  • Used it twice in 2 years

There are other perks I prefer to use, and feel are more suitable to my playstyle, which hold more value to the overall outcome of matches.

  • I’ve had that similar scenario happen before, many times.

Also got upset about it a couple of instances, but then came to understand that we’re NotEntitled to that hatch escape.

I seldom bring keys. If I find a key then I always do my best to let the others know and try to invite them for a hatch escape.

Sometimes in solo queue when a fellow survivor wants to bring a key and the killers see it and keep dodging the lobby, (I’ve experienced up to 12 continual killer key dodges in one lobby before!) then I’ll opt for a new set of survivors.

Keys don’t bother me on either side.

Gonna use this sock puppet account since I don't feel like putting this on my main one...

While there is an issue with toxicity in this community (and what is considered to be toxicity) I think that there's more to the issue- as others stated, many things can and will effect your mental health, but some things might not effect you as much as another person. (Sort of like how some people manage pain better then others.) I think people need to figure out the core as to why it effects them as a person.

While DBD has effected my mental health negatively before, it's been through no fault of it's own. I sometimes use video games as a means to cope- playing them instead of facing my issues with my mental illnesses and trying to work through them. If I have a few good games and then multiple bad games of DBD to the point it brings me to tears or makes me feel terrible, it's not because of the game- it's because of me. I expected the game to let me escape from negativity. When I'm then faced with something I percieved to be negative, sometimes I don't realise it's bugging me until it's too late- and then the sense of escapism is ruined, and my mood and mental health will worsen as a result until I can recover a bit- usually from taking a long nap. DBD is generally positive for me, just like Overwatch and just like other hobbies- but when I'm down and push myself too hard with my mental illness, they will make me fall.

My point is, while it is entirely your choice as to whether or not you keep playing, I think the bigger thing is to just realize what causes the game to have a negative impact on your mental health. If you don't know why you're getting such a negative reaction from DBD, the issue can easily follow you.

    Perfect addition to the discussion.

Thats a pretty cool idea but still like my idea with the morphing into animals.

    Yeah, that would be great!

Like Nightwolf in MK with his Animality

That’s how devs should introduce a “wolfman” (like many players were interested in) into DBD, through a real Native American. He/She could change into a bear, a wolf, maybe even a giant eagle or sth. That would be really cool, as each would have their own special power!

There's a strategy to this, and it takes advantage of the addictive nature of variable reward. This concept is most notably present in gambling, but video games can be designed around it.

    http://sitn.hms.harvard.edu/flash/2018/dopamine-smartphones-battle-time/

This article is spot on. It’s undeniable truth.

Anyone who denies it is just that.. in denial.

Casinos began redesigning slot machines 15 years ago, modeling them after video games. For one, as a ploy to get kids who were already addicted to gaming into their establishments as soon as they’re old enough; Also, to get adults (both new gamblers and veteran’s to gambling) who may not even play video games hooked on something that is absolutely addictive. The reward incentive of “pay a little, play a little, strike it rich” embedded in people’s psyche compels them to give it all, even their soul.

It becomes a natural high for them and many go broke spending their entire family’s fortune to feed their addiction.

I’ve watched clips of parents taking away their children’s PS4s & Xbox systems because the kids are addicted to them, and the kid’s reactions are resembling demon possession; the way they almost turn into a different person entirely when their “precious” is taken away is comparable to Golem from Lord of the Rings.

All of this is a serious issue.

It’s good someone is talking about it.

Most likely the one thing many game developers don’t want being discussed often.

What did your therapist recommend in regards to dbd?

An old coworker of mine, smart guy in his early 20's. He started going to therapy. He talked about our work environment. The therapist told him to quit. Our work environment sucks the soul out of you.

I'm pretty good at pushing through, but this year has probably been the worst year at my job. My coworkers are miserable and have expressed it and our business overlords don't give a #########...

I was in a similar situation, saw a better opportunity in a healthier environment filled with positive, genuinely good people and values, and I went for it. All is well.

Anything that sucks the soul out of you isn’t worth you, or your soul.

I see a new job on your horizon

  • @CrowFoxy said:

I recently started thinking and studying into some psychological stuff and even unironically spoke to my own therapist about how dbd might have an overall negative impact on my mental health.

The results and responses I got were staggering, but won't take long to share.

This is just ONE medical professionals opinion of course, but feel free to ask your own. My therapist believes with dead by daylights gameplay, combined with reward from win/loss, community responses I showed (screenshots of post game etc, chat messages from consoles), that dbd can have a profound negative impact on your mental health.

And I agree. It may be "just a video game." But that's a weak argument. Dbd can hurt people, and be unfair, and not fun and that's okay! It's a competitive game, you can change your mindset. But I thought some people just might need to hear this for once.

    Thanks for posting this.

    NO ONE talks about it.

Many will deny it, some will lash out at you for it; others will agree... regardless, Don’t let any of them affect you and your positive psychological setting.

Much of what you are referring to does depend on the mental strength of a person.

Anyone can be effected by anything at any given time (especially mentally) without the proper protection in place.

Gaming on it’s own becomes an addiction; as it does (like any drug can cause) the addicted become further less likely to admit there are any issues, and often defend themselves and the cause of the addiction (eg. the games) downplaying and projecting the blame onto other people/ things. Fortnight has had a severe impact on many kids, especially those under the age of 13... many of whom game 8-24 hours a day, sometimes even for days on end.

As far as DBD goes, I’ve heard more from people who will admittedly describe how being a Killer Main has gradually conditioned their subconscious to murderous instinct in everyday life (during conversations, arguments, at school and while working). The consequences of continuously harming, murdering people for hours upon hours every day can have a tendency to negatively affect certain people, potentially causing drastic consequences.

Regardless of the mental stability of players, the content of games creates an imprint (kind of like a footprint in concrete) on player’s minds. The more malicious, sadistic, dark and evil the repetitive content and interactions in games, the greater negative impact is on the players and potentially those in their sphere of influence (even thinking about killing someone in real life is hellishly, eternally toxic to the soul).

People argue these truths back and forth (especially gamers and designers/ creators with those in the psychological field) all the time.

Not all gaming is dangerous, tho. Even DBD can have a positive effect on focus, alertness, concentration, coordination, etc. Majority of games provide these positives for players.

When the negatives are having more of a prominent impact on gamers, then it’s time to play another game.

  • It’s also interesting imagining how 4 survivors would team-up simultaneously to surround the killer (could depend on the killer... Doc with his shock, for example would be a challenge, or Oni due to the size, etc.) and knock them down, maybe stuff party starters in their mouth to incapacitate them a bit, set them on fire with all the gas in the generators combined with the torches around the realms, take their weapon and bludgeon them relentlessly into a pile of fleshy pulp... possibly even hook them.

The game stereotypes survivors (in-match) as weak, vulnerable, fearful creatures; some of which go against their personalities provided in the lore.

I could see 4 survivors joining together to physically attempt to stop the threat instead of just running away and throwing pallets.

Must be some unspoken entity rule that they have to appear pathetic and helpless, idk.

I think a lot of killers sleep on this perk, and get too caught up in the “why would survivors heal in the TR?!” thinking.

But a survivor that’s run away to heal still has a high probability of inadvertently be healing in the TR. It’s not like a killer stays still.

It’s great for slugging, and can actually become an area control perk when the survivors become desperate to regularly heal if the killer has proved they’re enough of a threat injured. I.e. the survivors will run as far away as possible in order to heal without the debuff, buying the killer gen control time.

Absolutely... Coulrophobia can also work well with Distressing, but I like it combo’d with Nurses, M&A and Knockout. It’s a build that most people won’t use since other aura reading/ alert perks (BBq, Infectuous, Tinkerer, etc.) are so common in builds.

I like this build tho, it maintains that similar area control mindset you mentioned, while intensifying the slugging aspect of the strategy.

Although Cphob, Nurse, M&A Tinkerer can be fun too, depending on the mobility of the killer.

My favourite perk. Great for slugging in conjunction with Mangled. Easy hits on survivors trying to pick up downed teammates in your face.

Yep, one of my fav underrated perks!

  • @Dreamnomad said:

Med kits are fine. Healing was substantially nerfed already if you didn't forget. Besides, killers have numerous options to deal with med kits.

    👆🏽Yes, totally agree👆🏽

Medkits and their add ons were cut down fairly substantially.

Since I frequently run into Sloppy, or any of the 10 or so add-ons that cause the Mangled status effect, a med kit is necessary to not always force my teammates to heal me. Also, I Solo queue, soo can’t always be depending on anyone to get me back to full health.

I almost always bring Inner Strength and We’ll Make It anyway, so I’m not wasting too much time healing off unhook, and we can all get back to our objectives.

During the day, the sun warms the ground. As night falls and the temperature drops, the cooling air becomes totally saturated (like in the overnight hours when dew forms), then it condenses, creating fog.

I always wanna dress Nea warm as I feel the realms have a somewhat dank, cooler climate due to their foggy atmosphere 😊

Also, I jus wouldn’t wanna be chased around in a miniskirt... but occasionally l’ll switch it up an wear sth different.

  • Experienced killer’s know all the survivor exit gate strategies and tactics

When I’m in a match with a killer who I can see or sense has experience, or who can trap the lever, or who has a clear/easy line of sight to both gates, or who is stealthy or fast enough to patrol them, then I usually will try and get us both some free chase points, since they’re most likely going to catch me eventually within the EGC allotted time.

Sometimes I won’t bother giving them the free hook, and I’ll just stand nearby (the best for me is utilizing the high ground, if they haven’t already done so) to watch them incessantly, frantically racing back and forth, thirsty for their kill and me knowing that they’ll never get it w/o the entity’s help.

That’s what’s so amusing about this game.

EVERY KILLER IS BOOSTED by the Entity

Players never take the time to appreciate (admit) the fact that the killers only have special abilities/ powers/ speed/ weapons etc. because of the entity.

Especially when 1 or more survivors are mori’d early on, or Randoms/ other solo survivors not doing anything or playing less than “SWF par” are basically securing the killer’s 4K.

When there are 0-2 gens done and it’s already 2 survivors down and the killer still has all the super abilities/ powers/ speed/ weapons etc. at their disposal to easily guarantee the 4K, then those exit gates spawning so closely in proximity to one another is merely like an extra knife in the back for the Solo survivors who know it’s another match where SWF May have won, but themselves being solo have to work even harder to compensate.

DBD is way too SWF sided; not enough Love and attention to helping Solo survivors on the part of the devs.

Maybe they're trying to work on their kobe achievement? They know they can safely attempt a self unhook before you unhook them and that's probably why. I don't do it, but try to see thing from both perspectives.

It’s best to look at things from both perspectives, definitely. The achievement theory could be valid for some.

If that’s really the case, then I always have at least 1 person (and it’s usually 2-3ppl) every match for the past 4-5 months trying to get that achievement. That’s unusual. I play between 4-8 hours a day. That’s a lot of people trying to get that achievement and many of them who are trying already have their platinum.

Just seems like a “cool thing to do” popular trend that’s going on.

so 8 pops is still less than 4 whole minutes of immunity after a hook to work on gens without fear of having to do anything else. But pop is active for too long?

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1655529#Comment_1655529

It's not about being lazy, it's about having a toxic mindset and wasting someones time in a game where time is a big thing. I am leaving gens so often just to not finish the gen and then someone kobe's. Nice. Ofc if teammates are not doing anything at all it is also frustrating but you can be sure that all people who complain on this post are being efficient. I would never go out of my way and complain about others behaviour if I would just hide in a corner all game. And having the mindset of "if you are not doing anything I will kobe into your face" is also not helping the community at all. Sure, you can do what you want but I don't think that's something you should aim for.

I’m sure what they’re describing does happen, but the obvious truth is that it’s a trend that occurs far too frequently to be anything like the people who do it for reasons like they’ve mentioned in that post.

It feels as though the mentality is like, “Okay, since someone’s coming to my rescue, I’ll attempt an escape... if I make it, great, I kobe’d, if not, it’s still okay because I’m about to get saved anyway.”

I’ve also noticed it happen where they see the rescuer in route, attempt the Kobe, then the killer shows up and chases that person away and they end up on second hook; when they could have not attempted the Kobe and would have been rescued while still on 1st hook by the next rescuer who was on their way after seeing the 1st rescuer attacked and chased off. In this case, they’re now going to be dead hook and that could be the difference in any number of events that could occur to advance the match to a potential escape (eg. use up more of the killer’s time, progress gens, cleanse totems, etc.)

It’s even worse if this (Kobe fail) happens from multiple survivors using the Kobe in rescuer’s face playstyle, thus creating multiple dead hooks.

Can’t really understand why people would want to play that way, especially knowing it’s affecting the entire team.

  • DS is more of an escape perk.

Maybe better compared with Blood Warden which is an anti-escape perk, instead of Pop.

  • Yeah, I’ve been Kobe’d on about 25 times.

This is a pitiful trend that I first noticed happening more and more frequently about 4-5 months ago. It happens ALL the time now, and you’re the first person I’ve seen actually talking about it. Not sure how it originated... gained popularity via streamers, I imagine. Now almost everyone is doing it.

90% of the unhooks I go for, the survivor will attempt an escape. They’ll do it twice if I’m nearby and coming for them shortly after they’ve been hooked; Once if I’m far off. If there isn’t enough timer left, then they won’t attempt the kobe.

Even when I’m not coming for them, during EVERY match, at least 1 person will attempt the escape. I watch them do it to other survivors (and I place emphasis on the “TO other survivors” because it’s totally rude knowing someone is right there for the rescue, and they take it upon themselves to rob them and their teammates of the time it took to leave their objective to race over to the inconsiderate hooked survivor’s rescue, and also to potentially rob the rescuer of BPs and pip points, should they happen to spring off right in front of the rescuer.

I’ve had a couple of people do it when their timer was too far and they ended up advancing themselves into 2nd hook phase.

    smh.

It used to be only jumping jacks, then the Kobe trend started. Funny how they do only fully go for the Kobe when they know someone is coming to help.

A few times the thought of letting them attempt escape twice and then standing there to watch them slip into the 2nd phase tried to take over my good conscious, but I just can’t bring myself to be inconsiderate back to anyone, no matter how rude they are.

    It’s incredibly childish.

I’ve never done it, wish they wouldn’t either.

    It’s a silly trend.

Suggestion for 2 Vs 8 mode possibility:

    Rules:

    1. Killer's cannot down and hook the same Suvivor together by hitting them one time each in streak. When a Suvivor is caused to be injured by a Killer, that Suvivor is "Marked" by that specific Killer, and can only be downed, picked up and hooked by the Marking Killer. Healing from injured to healthy or getting unhooked cleanses the Mark. Once a Survivor is Marked by a Killer, the other Killer and that Survivor is disconnected from each other by the Entity, and the closer they are together, the more they have a ghosting effect as they merge and become one with the black Fog, they can see each other, but cannot interact, and will walk through each other in the Fog. So the other Killer cannot body block that Survivor once Marked by another, and neither can the Survivor body block another Killer once Marked, but both can body block their own allies. (Here I would like to add that I think having some sort of visual effects for Marking a Suvivor that we could choose from a selection in customisation would be awesome.)

    2. Killers cannot play as the same Killer character. Only unique selection playable.

    3. Killers, even though allies, naturally try to compete for the Entity's favor, as is the Entity's will, and so it is with their Powers. Killers cannot use each other's Powers, but can override each other. Killers Mark Suvivors also in Powers. Any Killer's Power, perk or add-on that causes a Suvivor to be injured will Mark them. So for instance, let's say we have a game with Doctor and Legion. If Legion uses Feral Frenzy, it will override all Madness levels. Traps, melee attacks (basic attacks or Power) and stacking powers at their peak counts as Overriders that will cancel out any current status effect on the Survivor from other Killers' Powers, add-ons and perks. So the Killers have to cooperate through tactical means.

To conclude, I think this could be a way to test 2 Killers versus 8 Survivors. Thank you for reading!

    I like your base idea.

Not sure what side you prefer, tho it would seem you play both equally as your proposal feels neutral.

Often, players who spend more time on killer will want additional benefits to fall in their favor. Same could be said of survivor mains.

There are certainly tweaks to be made along the way, but it doesn’t seem too complicated, and 2v8 is absolutely fair and balanced.

  • @FrootLoops said:

But.... how could survivors abuse this to frustrate the killers?

I think maybe instead the survivor should steal the killers weapon and run away at 118%, and the killer has to catch them to get their weapon back before they can injure/down anyone

    👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 this sounds fun

  • The atmosphere of games is very appealing, imo.

Maps are one of my favorite parts of this game. I actually prefer them with more space, wether survivors choose to hide in larger areas or not, I prefer larger realms.

I’d honestly enjoy wandering around in the territory as a killer or survivor w/o anyone else in the match so I could just enjoy the surroundings and take it all in.

Too much of a nonstop in-game pressure on both sides to be able to fully inspect and appreciate the detail.

Also, devs have been altering maps for awhile now to break up loops as an aid to killers. I’m sure they’ll continue to do this, especially as they are reworking all the areas... If that’s any reassurance to you.

  • Pretty cool idea, I like it!

Still trying to figure out how Adam escaped. He already used his Unbreakable an Myers had NOED. Maybs Bill helped him somehow, unless he let them both go, idek.

GGs anyway, you played really good

  • um, it’s all good. This has been a thing for awhile, now.

  • Love these healthy topics.

    Need more of these.

These discussions titled like the one you have started unfortunately seldom get as many posts as the other topics you’ve described.

    Interesting isn’t it?

I almost always have a good time when I’m playing DBD. Sometimes you jus have to play through the nonsense with a smile😌

Some of my favorite matches on both sides are when players meme a bit and have fun throughout the match. Yes, killers are supposed to kill, but that doesn’t mean you always have to play that way and can’t play outside the stereotypical hunt, hurt, kill monotony.

The first couple weeks with Ghostface is a great example of this. Players had fun with selfies, photobombs, t-bagging etc.

    It was fun!

Also, love the matches during BP events where we all jus have fun messing around memeing and getting points, forgetting about the seemingly endless competitiveness the game has evolved into over time.

    Thx for keeping it positive🙂
