He jus made an observation to exactly that; the coincidental hud similarities. He wasn’t actually tin foil hatting the likenesses😄
I find it interesting how these little coincidences fall into place, and the subliminal, vague clue dropping that developers take part in
...Ed Boon is the master of this. He even mildly trolls when new MK characters are coming as he drops clues on his Twitter feed. Keeps us in suspense, while getting all the players riled up in anticipation of who’s next on the roster. I love it.

Cool that’s awesome how the devs put so much attention into the jigsaw map and asylum they look amazing now
I love the details in these new updates. Gideon is still a bit dark, but it’s supposed to be. The asylum was done right, imo. I’m sure people will complain about something, but it’s really the best graphic update they’ve given us, so far. I haven’t seen Father Campbell’s Chapel yet, tho.

Seriously, I feel bad for you.
Because I don’t get it.
I’ve not let DS bother me for a long, long time.
I’m a Clown main, that balks at meta perks, often sticking with builds centred around stacking Coulrophobia & Mangled. Exactly the kind of killer you would expect would struggle a great deal.
But i hold my own at red ranks, usually getting 3k or 4k, with 4 man escapes being a rarity.
I’ve been around a while too. I’m not a true genuine DBD veteran that’s been around since the beginning, but I’ve been around for a significant part of the games life cycle.
Sure I post a lot of angry rants on here, but that’s me just being a pathetic drama queen at times.
I’m not trying to turn this into a peen measuring contest. I’m just providing some context before outlaying how I’ve stopped letting DS (and unbreakable) be such the over embellished problem everybody else makes it out to be.
They can only be used once.
Let me say that one more time.
They can only be used once.
These perks only have great power late game or endgame, but Killers, you fools. You ALLOW survivors to have and use these perks at those crucial times of the match where it’s most crippling and frustrating. Yes, I’m blaming YOU. It’s YOUR fault if you’re being hit by DS (or unbreakable) at endgame.
Here’s my general match approach, leaving myself wiggle room for adaptation and improvisation.
I don’t outright tunnel or outright camp, but if an unhook has occurred in my face, then I WILL smack whoever was just unhooked. If they have BT, fine, I don’t care. Now they have to run somewhere and waste a little bit of time mending. No BT? Well I’m picking them up fully expecting DS because I WANT them to use it. If I’m stunned, fine, I then let them run off and IMMEDIATELY refocus on spreading pressure elsewhere. No DS? Too bad, oops, they’re going back on the hook. That survivor is now a greatly reduced threat for the remainder of the match, so I might even give them a bit of slack later on.
If at any time I spot someone that I know was recent unhooked, again, I follow the above process. I want to test each and every survivor for DS as early as possible, and eliminate it as fast as possible. The survivors are incredibly screwed after they’ve all had their DS eliminated, not so much because the perk itself is gone, but because it GREATLY LIMITS the kind of plays the survivors can then make to assist each other.
“You can’t just eat DS. That’s not a counter!” But I do, and it works almost all the time.
“But you lose so much pressure.” Except in rare instances, I ignore who just stunned me and I immediately return to spreading pressure to the other survivors to the best of my ability. I don’t want to give them TOO MUCH free time.
”But then it was a wasted chase.” I just got rid of a (overrated) tool from the survivors kit before/around mid game. I don’t feel like I wasted my time at all.
For those that keep throwing counter arguments based on theory, I simply urge you to just try this approach.
If it doesn’t work for you after a dozen games, it doesn’t work for you, and you can’t rant “can’t can’t can’t” all you like.
“I’ve not let DS bother me for a long, long time.”
Me either... I’ve actually never let it bother me
Could we possibly be the only two who are entirely unscathed by the dreaded DS 🤔
DS shmee-S

When I hear a chainsaw I prepare myself for one of two things:
A super fun match against a Billy
Or
A crap match against a Bubba
There's just nothing fun about Bubba. If you don't reach a pallet or window you get insta downed. Of course, the real reason Bubba is not fun to play against is the fact that they almost always camp and tunnel off hooks. I mean I get it, when your power lets you OHKO multiple people why wouldn't you but it's really poor design if you ask me.
Nevermind basement Bubbas that's a whole different realm of bs. Idk like, other killers basement saves feel possible but against Bubba it can and usually will result in everyone dying. A trade if you're very lucky.
With Billy the lethality of his chainsaw is limited to only ever hitting ONE survivor so you never get these problems with him. Also the way his chainsaw sprint / attack works makes him fun to loop. I love the adrenaline rush when he comes flying at me it scares me so much but I still feel like I can juke and do stuff lol
Leatherface I feel none of that it's more like I just want to be in the next game. Him and Freddy make me consider leaving asap they're just overtuned and boring to play against.
Anyways, having said all that I wouldn't mind if they looked at Bubba. He is an incredibly strong killer even without camping / tunneling / slugging. Easily A to S tier because of his insane lethality potential. Like you said he can potentially OHKO 4 survivors with one use of his power that's just silly lol
But I don't see how they can ever change him without reworking him in a fair way and even then idk how. Tbh I'd rather just never play against him than ask for him to be nerfed.
I can't stand this character lol
“it's more like I just want to be in the next game”
lol ikr, and then the next game is Bubba, then the match after that... Bubba again, ugh! 🙄
-
Depends what you mean by humiliating.
When a survivor gets in some good jukes and we have a nice chase, and yes, when those flashlights go clickedy-click amidst pointing and such, I’m audibly giving them props that they can’t hear. I never make it a point to tunnel or camp said players. Nevertheless, should I eventually outplay them, I feel that’s reward enough for me... wether or not they feel humiliated by losing the chase is up to them.
If I catch them, great
If they escape, no worries...
I’ll see them again eventually and we’ll have another go
-
Red Herring turns the aura of the gen Red for only you to see.
ToT and Better Together can be tricky, as they both turn the aura of the gen Yellow for every survivor.
Better Together causes other survivors within 32m to see the aura of the gen only when the survivor with the perk is working on that gen.
If you see the gen highlighted in Yellow and there aren’t any survivors there working on it when you arrive, it’s ToT.
Also, if you see a gen is highlighted in White, that’s Repressed Alliance (Cheryl’s perk). RA blocks the gen for 60/70/80sec so the killer can’t kick it.

With the third perk, would the generator not be finished in the same time?
edit: I guess you could just get involved on other peoples gens towards the end to get the benefit that way, but anything which increases gen speed is a bit scary atm
Yeah, I just saw that
When I originally read the perk, I thought it was gens below 20% get 20% slower speed, and gens above 80% get 80% faster speed.
So, gens would start off really slow, then repair at normal speed, then get a boost similar to a Engineer’s Toolbox with socket swivels

Nea is believed to be the entity by many players... even the other survivors in the game believe this, as well as certain killers.
The truth is that she was planned to have been drawn into the entity’s realm by the highest authority in the universe, who created and rules over all the billions of galaxies within time and all the atmosphere and space outside of time.
Nea’s mission is unknown... even to herself, and until it’s completed, she cannot be destroyed.

Agreed.
An MMR system is pretty useless if we don't understand what contributes to that MMR. Like, it might as well just be some fake made-up number if we have no grasp on how to improve it. The whole idea of MMR is to gauge and matchmake based on skill, and that would lead a reasonable player to want to take steps to improve their skill. We have to know what the steps are, though.
I've said this a couple of times already, but at bare minimum, every player's MMR number needs to be visible, even if it's only on the post-match screen. Otherwise, they will always have a perception problem of players assuming that the current rank numbers/color bands are what influences the matchmaking. The 99.9% of players who don't read forums/social media/patch notes/game news will continue to go "Why do I keep getting matched with and/or against people 10 ranks higher/lower than me? Matchmaking is so broken!"
Look at how other games do it. League of Legends has a hidden MMR number, but it groups players into leagues (bronze, silver, gold, etc.) based on their match performance, and they are in a pool with other players in that league. StarCraft II is similar, I believe, and Overwatch, and so on. Why can't DBD function the same way, in terms of turning the (current) ranks into strict leagues that correlate with MMR to some degree? If you're gonna have two different numbers, they better work together (especially if one is invisible) or you will have nothing but confusion.
Yes, I want visible MMR numbers.
If BHVR is telling me what my skill level is and assigning me a number classifying that level, I want to know what it is, and I want to know how they arrived at said number.

My problem with what has been inferred so far is that it seems to be less about matchmaking and more about making sure we can't check their work or call them out on doing an poor job of it. It has been implied (although they may prove me wrong and show the metrics that count and how they are measured) that we won't know how MMR works to keep anyone from trying to "game" the system. That is nonsense. All anyone has to do to game the system, whether they know what metrics are tracked or not, is throw games. It is as simple as that. So their implied reasoning for keeping secrets is a miscalculation at best, and a falsehood at worst.
There is no good reason not to tell us the metrics MMR is using and how it works other than to obfuscate the process so we can't say, "it isn't working." We will just have to have faith, and chalk that curb stomping we gave or received to us just playing well. Surely those people should have been playing us, the MMR said so. Rank means nothing soon, since there will be Red Rank Potatoes just as their will be Red Rank Sharks. Do you follow?
I'm not a tinfoil hat kind of guy, who spouts conspiracies, nor am I a guy that is negative on Behavior. They have treated me well in all our interactions and overall I enjoy the game. That doesn't mean I won't call out something sketchy when I see it. They need to elucidate us on how MMR works, what it measures, and when it is set in motion. If they won't, they need to give us a good reason why they can't. Saying people will sandbag if they know the metrics doesn't cut the mustard; as I've already pointed out all one has to do to sandbag one's rating is choose to lose games.
Oh, I completely understand.
Getting bamboozled isn’t what I enjoy waking up to everyday... or any day, for that matter. With ranks now 100% out the window, with regards to skillset, and players entirely oblivious as to wether or not MMR even works, or especially, how it even works; every base of the devs is covered.
Feels like it’s being kept a secret, yes.
While I always give devs the benefit of doubt (I do still trust them), they are intelligent enough not to unintentionally make those types of miscalculations, and the vagueness that’s come along with the matchmaking system has led me down this road toward inquisition.
If MMR ends up improperly functioning, and Lobbies-by-rank system is removed, the ensuing chaos through the displease and disgust of players continually getting mismatched games could force them permanently out of DBD altogether.
If MMR’s a bust again, the ranking system couldn’t reinstated legitimately. Then what?
BE has to have reasoned that scenario and wouldn’t keep something in-play that could severely harm their baby. I would hope so anyway.
I personally would love to completely know how MMR works. Is it different from the other games which implement MMR that have been mentioned here in the forums?

The thing is when the new MMR system starts and Rank is divested from it, you will have no idea if you were fighting someone with 1K+ hours or a hundred other than how you think they played in comparison to you. That's the unfortunate thing about where we are headed. You have to ASSUME everyone is in your weight class. So yes, people are going to think you are bullying them if the MMR either doesn't REALLY exist or doesn't work.
Yeah... “supposedly”
we’re all a bit dubious tho, at this point

Not every player has the same skillset or common sense as you may have.
I understand... those similar setbacks have happened to myself and others (probably everyone, tbh). Best to keep playing and not hold grudges.
If you’re naming a player there in your post after the “Thanks,” it isn’t allowed here in the forums, potentially something you would get reprimanded for.
-
first... killer matches are quicker in the evening and longer in the day where I live. Many players SWF after work, more players work during the day
second... same here; as far as ranks go of players I’m getting lobbied up with
MMR is currently (as you are playing each match, now) collecting data in-game skill data for when it’s implemented in the future (devs say “soon”) so players will be matched with other players of the same skill set.
Right now, players are matched with other players of similar Rank. When similar ranks are not available in a certain time frame, the system sends in the next highest rank to the lobby.
Looking forward to a fully operational, properly functioning MMR

If they prevented emblems from affecting rank, and instead just used them to show how you did in a match. Then they could use the ( hidden ) MMR to determine ranks instead.
Of course the individual killer MMR would have to be factored in too. Meaning that your killers would be different ranks, but that isn't totally fair given that killer fundamentals carry across all killers. So instead of having totally separate MMR ranks, your progress on your main would also give a slight amount of rank progress on your other killers.
That way you don't go against baby survivors who don't have their fundamentals down, and they won't have to go against a rank one learning a new killer. This means that the rank one learning ( x killer ) will still have a decent challenge while learning said killer.
I have no idea what the values would be for the tithed rank progress, but what would y'all think of this as a ranking system?
Edit: it feels a little silly to me how the devs are essentially throwing away their old ranking system, when it could still be used for a new, and hopefully better system.
Still a bit unclear as to how killers and survivors skill level (?) is measured and gathered, and also how a killer and a survivor are equally paired with one another having 2 separate roles with 2 entirely different functions and necessary skill sets.
Any insight?
-
Sarah mentioned in the Dev Tapes that since they’re going to be adding more features in the future, the Ui layout had to be changed to accommodate them all as they arrive in-game.
I personally don’t want a entire border around my screen filled (cluttered) with icons and animations.
Not my style.
-
SWF would have to have a tracker attached, as players willingly join into SWF teams, to tally games played strictly as SWF. This way, all other survivor matches are recorded as Solo and are rewarded accordingly. Solo is more of a challenge (arguably the most challenging role in the game) to escape, and should have it’s own honor upon the leaderboards, entirely separate from those who play matches majoritarily as SWF.
-
Probably use Antidote bottles to speed up the walk in-between exit gates
-
You’re a brave soul
I wouldn’t have made it past the 7th consecutive GF before I took the rest of the day off from DBD
-
As long as people are playing DBD, there will continually be new characters added.
If they release 4 killers every year, in 5 years there will be over 40 killers.
The only way DBD could end is if everyone stops playing it, and that isn’t happening in the foreseeable future, and certainly not within the next 5 years.
So, fear not, and play on🥳
-
Even if they were just various templates we could choose from, instead of being forced into one format, it’d be nice to have variety.
Though, Sarah mentioned during the Dev Tapes that the UI changes were to make room for new features in the future.
It’ll take some getting used to, for sure
-
I actually see these types of commandable juke features eventually being added in the distant future.
-
While there are people who leave, most of them return to play.
The number of new players to DBD greatly outweighs the number of players permanently leaving.

I am a long time killer and I simply do not understand how so many killers can get upset about DS.
The devs won’t change it because the survivor can only use it ONCE. This means the absolute MAXIMUM amount of times a killer can be stunned by it is 4.
Just eat the stun. It’s really not that crippling. That survivor is now vulnerable for the remainder of the trial.
Exactly... that’s what I do; not a big issue at all
At this point, it feels as though it’s more of a “you nerfed this and that of mine, now I wanna nerf yours to get even” kinda vengeance from players.

Yes, the "this" I'm referring to is an article, not my post. Yes, that is a little clickbaity, I apologise. No, I did not write the article, and yes, I know it's long.
But seriously, if you do genuinely care more about the game and its improvement than about trashing the devs, as the vast majority of people in this community claim to, this is worth the read.
Not only does it give some much-needed insight into why developers often seem like they are ignoring their players or taking ridiculous amounts of time to make simple changes, along with exploring the possibility that there might be reasons why they make "bad" design choices other than stupidity and incompetence, it also explains how to maximise your chances of delivering your feedback and actually having something done about it (and what not to do).
And this goes for all games, not just DBD, but I'm posting it here because I think there are some of us here who could do with some insight into the opposite perspective when it comes to this game we all love. And because I believe, like the author of this article, that healthy communication between players and developers is essential to the long-term success of any live game, and the best way to achieve that is grace and understanding on both sides. (I believe that so strongly, in fact, that I spent the better part of last year writing a thesis about it, and I wish I'd found this article back then, but that's another story.)
Just give it a read, if you really do care about seeing this game succeed and being a part of that. The worst that can happen is you'll be reminded of something you already knew.
Thanks for posting this... and for posting, in general.
Your contributions to the forum are always worth the time and effort, even when the members here respond in ignorance.
The article is exactly the practice players need to achieve the reality they desire. Unfortunately, the only ones who will benefit are those who take the time to read and follow through with the better approach to healthy, communicatory relationship with the developers. Hopefully that number increases.
Grace and Understanding go a very long way on the path to success.
Always pleasant additions to the discussion from you😌
