Yeah I dont understand the logic behind this. Maybe a Dev can explain this a bit better in full. We still have heard nothing about her, the state shes in, and whats going on.
I think the likely explanation is that the devs are taking a largely hands-off approach to the game at the moment, I wouldn't be shocked if most of their dev labor is being focused on the big update (I know they said they have a separate team, but how separate is it really?)
If we don't get a large balance update this month, I think that will cement it for me. -

The fact you come in with a victim narrative right away is crazy.
I never once said that survivor was easy or that there was a lack of anxiety on that side so if your going to come in here with some what about stuff you can go ahead and move on your opinion isn't need here.
Now with that killer is way more stressful do to that fact it's a 4v1 and everything falls on your shoulders as with survivor there's always someone else you can look at and say well if they just did gens or didn't just leave me on hook while sitting in a corner brings the stress down alot. But as I said with killer been easier now just because it's less stressful on survivor doesn't discount that the role can still be stressful and there can be survivor anxiety it's just clearly not as prevalent as the killer side
Its a matter of perspective, I find killer less stressful because I am fully in control of how it will be played, even more so with all the killer buffs cementing it as the power-role.
The fact that you think survivor stress is 'way less prevalent' highlights the problematic mindset I disagree with tbh. -

There is no "killer-victim narrative" what are you talking about?
In case you didn't notice, the killer is the "1" in the 1v4 of this game. It's natural that one person going up against a team of people (especially when said team has been the power role of the game for most of its life-span) might be a little anxious, since your mistakes fundamentally matter more.
The existence of killer-anxiety is not the point of contention, its pretending that it's killer exclusive.
The fact that people think survivors have no reason to feel anxious is exactly why solo queue is so terrible, too many people play it to fool around instead of win, but that's a different topic for a different thread. -
-
It actively gives both sides anxiety, the killer-victim narrative is just more prevalent.
Other than that, I would agree, the problem is game pacing is too fast due to no comeback mechanics for either side, but slowing the game down isn't profitable which is why most multiplayer games are 'Tiktokifying' their gameplay loops.
Shorts bursts of dopamine = more impulsive purchases = better ROI and more accessible to more players. -
To be frank there's very little reason to cleanse plaything unless its an indoor map.
Even less so if you're in comms. -
@LordGlint said:
What if there was no separate killer and survivor queues? What if everyone picked both a survivor and killer loadout and the game just picked from the 5 players in the lobby who gets to be killer this round. That would do away with survivor or killer mains since everyone has the same play time on both roles and can really understand what both sides are like.
How would you account for playing with friends?
-
Less:
Jason, Blight, Hillbilly, Legion, Michael, Dracula, Unknown, Oni, Lich
More:
Pig, Henry, Trickster, Spirit, Nurse, Ghoul -
Time to nerf them again I guess.
-
Your first mistake was assuming a new survivor perk is supposed to be anything but useless or incredibly niche.
-
Its not just you. Wesker and a few others are having the same issue.

I don't know why this sentiment only comes up for eastern media.
Where are all these complaints about Nicolas Cage and Wesker?

It can happen so long as the match is under 2 mins long.
It can happen I've gone down to nurse before, basically farmed off hooks both stages and got a warning no penalties , 30 seconds later everyone gets the abandon condition from being down and leaves the game with no penalty.
It may be harder to prox I agree with you their, but its def not impossible, especially if someone is struggling with looping / gameplay of a certain killer or like in my pervious example team is farming you off hook against a strong tunneling killer both of which I personally think should not be punished. Not to mention it serves no purpose, its literally just fluff.
Then again, so are a lot of changes lately. -

Right Its not like survivors were tired of there teammates going next because they ran into a wall and they quite. It's definitely the killer wanted to make sure it's humans they are playing against.
Could have swore I was hearing all the survivors complaining about the go next epidemic but sure let's go with it's the killers fault.
Ah yes the bots that were instantly made useless because killers complained they were getting outplayed by an AI are so useful for survivors and I'm definitely glad resources went towards them instead of fixing the issues survivor has had for the last few years.

What's a go-nexzt punishment?
Killers were upset people didn't want to play vs camp + tunnel + 4 slowdowns every game so BHVR put in a detection system that punishes you if it suspects you died too fast.
You should be thankful, they were going to make it give you a DC penalty. -

I'm not looking for sympathy. I just want to stop getting demoted and accused by pop up messages.
The go-next punishments were put in place for killers, so if your opponent is better than you and tunneling you there's not much you can do.
It's by design sadly. -
You're not going to find sympathy in this killer-sided forum, but honestly who cares about grades at this point?

Nightlight isn't perfect but it's still the biggest sample set we have (tens of thousands of matches per month and a lot of users have a widget that automatically uploads match data) and it's more up to date and transparent than the official dev stat releases. For example the screengrab with Krasue as the top Killer is definitely not reflective of reality because while she had a preposterously high kill rate on release she got nerfed fairly quickly and now is not nearly so powerful (additionally her pickrate plummeted afterward which makes the stats even harder to parse: if only three cracked Krasue mains ever play her and never lose but nobody else touches her because she's so clunky and hard to use in many environments, how strong is she really?). The same is certainly true for Henry.
I'm gonna add that since the whole 'the cake is a lie' debacle I'm even less inclined to trust BHVR for accurate or well-processed data.
Using the (admittedly limited) information we have, the inference is that on average a lot of Killers (or Killer players) are doing worse than expected. This is borne out anecdotally as well. Why this is bears more investigation: I suspect a rotation of maps that are difficult for lower-tier Killers, combined with a very strong Survivor perk meta, the increased proliferation of techs and strats, and the gradual improvement of the average Survivor (it's been 10 years, we're bound to have learned something). I don't know why some people are so upset by the conclusion that some Killers are underperforming and jump to ad hominem attacks when it's suggested.
You do realize an unreliable data source is quite literally antithetical to an objectige discussion right?
-
Yeah lets just make every killer Kaneki, Blight, and Jason.
That will make the game more fun for sure.

I mean it is kind of sad that most killers either need to use relatively "broken killers" to have a chance - or just lose more often than not.
This isn't a killer exclusive problem btw.
Turns out if you want to win in a pvp game you have to play what's good. -
I don't understand, are you asking to be able to win against opponents that are trying without trying? There are killers you can play for that.
-
It's largely BHVR's fault, and my favorite tin-foil hat theory is that they encourage and coerce survivors to be self-destructive to entice killers to play more as necessary fodder.
Every single perk should be more or less contingent on doing generators to force players to actually progress the game, hell as an extreme I'd say items start at 0% and you gain charges by doing gens, similar to flash bangs.
The amount of time-wasting habits BHVR has taught to the average survivor is why soloqueue is so bad, and that's not even factoring oppressive killer gameplay. -

I've seen it twice on non-adepts and one adept hunter. It affected nothing. I could still hear and see them. It's too situational. You have to have an LoS breaker and if you hide, you have to get lucky. It's like Lucky Break in that way, which is what I'll be sticking with.
And yeah we'll continue to see endless Jasons because he's a massive money-making ptw. With how things went with Ghoul I wouldn't be surprised if it was a year until worthwhile nerfs happened. I just don't know what's going to happen until that. The queues are massive and I can't be the only one who doesn't want to play survivor anymore, nor do I want to wait in line to play killer. He's throwing the whole game out of whack.
He's going to get a love-tap at worst and then people will start making threads complaining that people keep dc'ing in their games just like with Ghoul.
I personally elect to play as aggressive as possible vs him to make it over sooner rather than later, escape or death, similar to Blight.

If you wipe out skill expression, what's the point of even having human opponents. Just have AI killers and call it a Co-op PVE. You can make it as unbalanced as you want then cuz the AIs arnt complaining, lol. Its the high skill expression that brings ppl to the game to begin with. Seeing clips of deathslinger shooting through a chain link fence makes ppl wanna try it themselves. No one comes into this game going "I wanna run in circles in a predictable way 3 times before getting hit by a pallet". If you wanna strip out the skill expression... just strip out the player too.
As far as your winstreaks goes... thats what happens when you have no skillbased matchmaking. The high tiered players would bully pubs in quick play on any game. We just ONLY have the quick play unlike other games.
Skill expression is good in moderation, but making things broken because they're hard to pull off is a bad design habit and horribly overdone in this game.
Getting shot through a tiny gap, the dash killers 360ing around a loop might be exciting on the killer side but it gets old really fast on the survivor side and I'm tired of having uneven clarity on mechanics. I don't play survivor to get clip farmed by someone who's spent 3000 hours labbing out their killer power.
And yes, ultimately true balance would be boring, that's how it goes, but in a game where one side is the power role, the 'rule of cool' design is equally as boring imo.
Henry was a nice release because while his power can be oppressive if the player is good, it is very readable and he doesn't feel overloaded.
Jason is a giant step backwards, he can't get balanced soon enough. -

You brought up NURSE changes... thats what my comment was about. How many nerfs should Nurse get? Ppl like to pretend nurse nerfs dont happen. What is the goal on Nurse if your still suggesting further changes. Her average killrates arnt high. Ideally nerfs to a killer shouldn't be made with the goal that even the good players at that character do POORLY.
I personally don't believe Skill Expression is an objectively good thing simply because once a player is good enough that skill isn't a limiting factor, they effectively break the game. Case in point: Blight 2k winstreak.
How would I solve it? It'd be a vastly unpopular change for sure, but she needs to be reworked and lose parts of her identity. Its the only way, doesn't mean it'll happen though, since the chances of running into a good Nurse are very slim.If we are going to balance with the idea that skill triumphs all, why do perks on the survivor side that only get value if you are skilled at the game get nerfed? The answer is because something taking skill doesn't make it balanced, to the point where BHVR flat out nukes or reworks a perk entirely.
This never seems to get applied to killer though.
Examples: Dead Hard, Made For This, Spine Chill, Flash Bangs, Cross Examination, CoH etc. -
@LordGlint said:

Nurse has gotten plenty of changes. Everytime she gets nerfed, ppl say "If your good at her, you'll be fine" and then complain that good players can still use her. What is the goal here, to make even good nurse players unable to play her? At what point do you go "yup, looks like its all good"?
My point is that skill should be factored but it shouldn't be the sole factor in whether or not something should get nerfed/buffed.
The idea that the game should be balanced only around top tier players doesn't work when its barely officially competitive to start. It also feels like killers are balanced by the lowest skill-bracket while survivors are being judged based off of a tiny minority in these discussions.
I don't see how Jason pubstomping the vast majority of his games, whether piloted by Hens or not, is permissible since 'good survivors can easily outplay him' whereas Circle of Healing which was a noobtrap in most games since people would spend all game slowly healing is 'overpowered because good players abuse it.'
Seems like a stark double standard to me. -

i don’t think s tier killers should exist at all sorry but this is a bad gotcha. A and b tier is where killer balance should be. But hey jason is b maybe b+ so he’s fine.
Weird how survivors should never lose but if killers lose its a balancing issue 😓
Additionally, I don't see how Circle of Healing is overpowered if bad survivors will just get hit anyways and spend all game healing. Can you elaborate on this? -

Because 1 person bringing a boon perk shouldn’t be a unlimited self care for everyone. And jason isn’t as unstoppable as you guys like to claim. Again he’s b tier at best. People said springtrap was busted and op at first too but now look where he is.
Do you also believe Nurse shouldn't get changes due to only good players using her well?

Idk if there is a better way to show this Video but it is basically a showcase on how well that invisibility event power is used. I really wanna know from a Dev what they were thinking when approving this idea and what killers can do to counter it except to just wait until there is just 1 generator left.
Curious as to what you thought about last year's event with Remote Hooking/Pallet Break + Expose.

that isn’t a fair comparison because they did hardcore when jason was new and fresh so he was in 90% of their games, of course jason got the most kills.

Hey man if you look in my post history you would see been accused of being a survivor main pretending to be killer main even though i’ve always stressed i play both sides about 50/50.
No i don’t think either of those should come back but i’ve also stressed in this thread that jason isn’t problematic on his own. Its this totem build which a lot of killer players use because its busted. Jason just happens to be the strongest user of it.
Why do you think these survivor perks needed to get nerfed but at the same time believe Jason is in a fine state?
-
@MashedBroccoli said:
just saying again but balance should never be made because one of the best killer comp players are crushing pubs. At some point you guys just need to accept that hens is high level, this isn’t the first high winstreak he has had.

I don't believe why this is downvoted so much. It's spot on.
Knowing how wonky and inaccurate the matchmaking in DBD can be, stomping random public lobbies and calling that a winstreak is hardly worth noticing.
Even that Blight guy folded like wet cardboard when he finally faced a team ready to stop him.
Let's see if Hens is able to consistently win against a few fully coordinated teams on comms with no perk restrictions. 10 games in a row.
Then I'll be impressed. It's less that its impressive and more that these winstreaks are evidence to suggest that on average, a competent killer can win the majority or in some cases all of their games, no matter what killer or set up they're running.
This contradicts many of the arguments on this forum that killers are in a dire state. -

This has been my biggest frustration with this event. The survivors go out of their way to prevent me from interacting with the event outside of the only thing they can't stop me from doing, poisoning tables.
Try to take chase? Invisibility or speed boost to Narnia. Manage to find them anyway, get a hit and poison them to secure the down? Oops, lost a gen and they just got remote healed to full. Try to patrol gens to locate anyone for a chase? Nah, they preran with a speed boost or invisibility the moment they could hear the terror radius. Actually manage to secure a down? Get body blocked by a conga line of invisible or invulnerable survivors so I can't even get some damn BP from a hook.
I never got into playing Ghoul/Billy/Nurse/Blight. I don't enjoy them so I'm not practiced with them. I normally play M1 killers, so most of my experience is with them. They're what I enjoy. But if I want to participate in the event, I'm actively punished by the event mechanics for trying, and then denied being able to even get a consolation prize in BP by my opponents. It would be bad enough if it was just all the busted event powers I had to deal with, but pile on survivors going to extreme lengths to make my play experience not only miserable while at the same time actively doing all they can to prevent me from earning any BP? It's literally the definition of unsportsmanlike.
I used to get really excited about the anniversary event. Even last year, with the reduced cakes, I still played a ton and had fun as killer and survivor. But after getting my face pushed in match after match, and not even being allowed to make it worth my time by earning some BP just makes me not want to play the game at all. It's disheartening.Curious if you advocated for this too when the events have been historically killer sided?
-

BHVR need to just hurry up and tighten MMR. Having to play against competent survivors will end those kill streaks quick.
You would think so but I honestly doubt even most high-mmr SWF's would be at the level of a comp streamer. They might also not do it because it'd hurt their bottom line as content creators would have super long queues and would most likely resort to smurfing to keep the content flowing.
I'd imagine BHVR is more likely to nerf the killer/perks instead. -

Guys, Jason is totally not broken. Being able to go on winstreaks for more than a hundred games is totally fair and shows how well designed they are.
I mean people are doing this on even 'D-tier' killers so at this point its really hard to discuss killer balance.
I still maintain these changes for Jason:
-Remove 'potential' pallet spawn points being a thing, I have no idea why Xeno and Springtrap have limitations to their power but Jason can TP pretty much anywhere, it's dumb.
-Increase animation for reloading or reduce reload spots, him using his power 4+ times in a chase without losing any distance makes him too easy-Time limit on OE and remove the info denial delay, you should never scream whilst crouched or in a locker. Hell I'd say standing still should counter the power as well.
-Haste cut in half, exhaustion cut in half.
Maybe all of these would be overkill, but I'd at least like to see three of them. -

Most killers on this forum watch killer CC's and believe they are better than they actually are.
This event has been a hard reality check, hence all the raging. -

At least this time the event bonuses make it so you still get a 2-3 out each time. Which I'm okay with.

They're just used to every event (and non event) being catered to their role. Countless weeks of mindless stomping, and now that they have to put in some effort, its the end of the world.

Now two weeks of actually having to try in their games and its 'unplayable.'
I hope BHVR doesn't cave. -
Thrill needs to work inversely, the less totems/hex there are the slower it is to cleanse, this would nerf penti-thrill but still have a place in guarding important hexes.

tbh if someone's willing to crash over their teammates' perks, that's not someone i want in my games, because theyre the type of person who're gonna dc over the slightest inconveniences anyway. and with as much love to the dbd bots as i can possibly muster, id rather not play a match at all than play one doomed from the start because we have a bot at 5.
