You can't balance a killer around the top 10% of players.
Then let's bring old Nurse back since she was only mastered by the top 10 percent. Since by that logic she was fine since only a few could master her.
-
@Unifall said:
Wait so let me get this straight if you invest time or main a killer you will become better than those who only casually play that killer?
It's how fair it is for the other side once that killer is mastered. You still have a chance against a master Oni or Blight. But not a master Spirit.

What about them?
Well isn't it important to decide a characters balance with add-ons and perks since they'll be ran?
-
@gatsby said:
You’re using the best addons. They’re both green and not sustainable to run every game.
In my eyes, a Killer is only good if they’re viable without addons or just brown ones
But how much should add-ons and perks go into deciding the balance of a killer?
-
Badham Preschool the people who say reworked maps have just deadzones ignore the atrocity of Badham.
-
Is that why survivors ques are so long?

She stands no chance against a good team, just like every other killer.
Even with Stridor other good perks and her best add-ons?

Nerf her stupid Add-ons first. And add that bug from a while back. Or the Otz idea and have brief moments when you see her.
-
@danielmaster87 said:
So what do you think about Nurse then? Double backs and stuff don't work on a good Nurse, right? I'm asking because I'm wondering if people aren't just using double standards.
Nurse is also the same but she is much harder and bugged then Spirit. And much rarer.

And no hag doesnt take more then spirit, I was hag main at first and I got to rank 1 between a month playing her, no teachable perks and no add-ons, if you want to compare hag and spirit, you have to compare the skills you need to have to polay hag so lets do that.
Spirit first, skills needed( talking about no perks against a Iron will optimal squad, and not saying about normal killer skills as m1 waiting DH, droping chases...) You need to know when to get out of the phase, mindgame the mindgame, hear foot steps and grass( as you cant hear breating and grunts of pain because of IW) where to go after getting the hook, ( if you dont know when to get out of the phase you need to know when the survivor is going for the window, pallet, double back or hiding in the corner of the jungle gym.
Hag second, skills needed: Know where to put traps that are gonna activate during chase, normal killer skills such as mindgames double backs and moonwalks, and know here to put traps that are gonna activate when going to a gen( trap placement in general).
Now lets see if the hag is really more difficult to master, it aint. Spirit is a better killer but takes more things to master( hearing, mindgames on the phase, getting out of the phase in the right time), and Hag is a worst killer and need to master less things( normal killer skills and trap placement, if yu want to consider fake trap placement as something to master, feel free). I might be missing something about the Hag skills, feel free to correct me if Im wrong.
You can't just put them at loops smart survivors will know this and simply avoid the loop since Hag is so slow. And you can't just assume every teleport is a guaranteed hit survivors can have good reactions and avoid the hit. This leads to moments were a Hag has to decide to teleport or not. And the mental notes to constantly keep your area intact. Also for Spirit why use the example of a red rank squad but no with Hag. Because Spirit will have it much easier against a squad. And you're talking about the fair mindgame of standing still? The fun fair gameplay were a survivor doesn't know what's she's doing? And one more why not also bring Stridor and add-ons into play since we know they are common with Spirit? Since people will bring them.
-
@RenDesune said:
So we admit that Spirit isn't braindead and their is skill to be learned from her power.
It isn't that Spirit has no skill cap. It's how much counterplay there is once they are mastered. With most killers mastered you have a chance like Huntress, Oni, or Blight but what about Spirit what do you do? tricks like doubling back and vaulting that a Spirt with Stridor or good ears will beat easily.

I mean, I was at first Hag main, I took less than a day to master her and in 1 month playing 1 hour a day I got to rank 1, she is easy to master compared to spirit, oni doesnt need focused training, I mean he need a good DPI on mouse and some mindgames, but nothing really difficult, when it comes to nurse thats true, spirit is easy to master when compared to nurse, ,Pyramid head is mind games and predictions as well, the others you said dont really need much practice.
A killer who will at the end of the day will come down to how good you can hear. Takes more skill then Blight? If Oni is so easy then why aren't there many Onis? And Hag takes more then Spirit.

Agreed. I don't think people realize how fast chases have to be if the killer wants a chance at winning against good survivors that are trying to just do the gens and get out. Like chases over 25 seconds are losing you the game and even that's generous. IE how long people want the chases to last is non viable if the survivors are good.
Ideally I'd rather the matches be slowed down so that we can have those long (fun) chases without it costing the killer the game. Rather than the alternative of forcing fast chases (unfun) for the sake of competitiveness.
What if add-ons and Stridor are in play?

Completely redesign him.
Make him a blend of Old Freddy, where he can pull Survivors into the Upside-Down and the ways they can get out are through Demo's Portals, a main Portal and through other Survivors who fade in and out like Spirit's passive phasing. Survivors in the Upside-Down are highlighted by Killer Instinct every 10 seconds and Survivors suffer from a moderate repair speed debuff.
Also, allow his Portals to expand and corrupt the surrounding environment, giving them a bigger AOE and more area denial.
Then, allow him to drag a gen into the Upside-Down once per game. This can be used to make a HARD 3-gen or for early game pressure.
41.Are other killers painfully not unique?

Honestly, in many cases teams get slaughtered because they don’t play cautiously enough. They don’t respect that the opposition could indeed be a skilled, smart, threat.
However, what I will agree with is that Killers have WAY too much available to them that makes learning how to track and hunt almost redundant. There is way too much aura revealing, and why I use Sole Survivor. Killer Instinct can go die a hot, painful death for all I care.
I’ve lost count of the amount of repeat posts I’ve done teaching killers how to take advantage of the crows. Why? Because most killers don’t know how to, and don’t need to, until they’re actually up against a team that are exceptionally good at stealth.
Of course the double edge sword here is that once proficient at using the information available from crows, in conjunction with perks that freely tell killers where survivors are, survivors will never be able to ever hide anywhere from that type of player ever, which isn’t fair. I genuinely have very little trouble finding survivors, and I don’t even use a lot of those meta tracking perks. I feel sorry for the survivors I’m up against sometimes.
Still wishing I can see scratch marks

Precisely. Badham was already difficult for killers, and The Realm Beyond made it all worse.
And chuckles in Father Campbells Chapel, Gas Heaven, Game, and Groaning Storehouse.

I'm relatively new here still so maybe someone can educate me: Why is Sluzzy considered a troll and everything he or she says "bait"? I'm not saying it's not. I'm also not saying it is. I'm just saying that in the few months that I've been here I've noticed a more or less consistent pattern of topics and areas of concern, with nothing that strikes me as outrageously trollish, like "Spirit is the easiest killer in the game, you guys are all just terrible" or "I can't wait for the new RE DLC, I guarantee you that it will be Marguerite Baker, Ada Wong, and Sherry Birkin". Can someone tell me why this user has a reputation as a baiter? I'd just like to be educated.
On the second issue, I can only express surprise that so many people (way more than Sluzzy) have expressed concern about the size of Huntress' hatchets. I've seen their collision boxes referred to as the size of refrigerators, dumpsters, and even Buicks, lol. Maybe it's luck, maybe it's one of my few hidden skills in this game, but I don't understand where all of this is coming from. This is a video of me playing the game within my first few weeks of owning it, back in late March, and I'm able to get away from those things even though they're basically flying so close they're giving Dwight a shave. I'm nor bragging - I plenty suck at some things in this game - but is what's in this video especially unusual or something? Did I just get crazy lucky here?
Sluzzy has hardcore survivor posts with most being overblown with some good points here and there. She's made posts like Huntress and BBQ are OP. So definitely a survivor main based on her posts.

We need to give survivors more options for their meta perks. One deadhard is too little and unreliable.
Borrowed time is too easy to counter, just wait for 12 seconds & it's gone.
Unbreakable can only be used once per match, the killer can just slug me right away & then it's as if I never got up.
What other meta perks am I missing, I can't remember any more because of how forgettable and unreliable they are.
Oh yeah, decisive strike doesn't even work anymore. I do anything and it just breaks. Please fix it, thanks.
While the DS nerf was necessary they should definitely buff other perks and bring some new meta they did over nerf Lucky Break and should be brought up to 60 seconds

There are several ways to counter Spirit that I find aren't that hard. Don't other survivors use them but they work well. Things like don't run if you hear her haunting sound approaching.
Do they work against a good Spirit?
-
@velosinhooo said:
As you said they havent faced a good Spirit, there are tons of people that think that spirit is being a op character, it really is but its not like the old freddy that didnt even have to practice to master, spirit takes hours and hours to max her, I passed weekslearning how to play as her, she is a really difficult character to play with, there is a lot of things you can do to counter Spirit, when at jungle gyms if you start to walk she will have to get out of the phase if she is a decent player as there are tons of possibilities there, you might double back, hide in a corner, you might vault the pallet, you might vault he window, the thing about spirit is her counter play, there are a lot of people who dont know how to play with and against her, so she is not actually op, she is being op because people dont know how to counter her.
Spirit does take time to master she does. But compared to the other top tiers Nurse, Blight, Hag, Huntress, Oni or Pyramid Head she is easy. And the counterplay you described won't work against a GOOD Spirit who is easily familiar with what survivors will do because they're good at using their ears. Except Nurse against the best killers you have a chance a counterplay that doesn't come down to I hope she's inexperienced.
-
@ShinobuSK said:
Not a good spirit? But I thought she is super easy to master and 4k double pip machine
She isn't Freddy levels of easy to learn but compared to other top tiers she is easier to master
-
@th3 said:
Just to explore this line of thought. Wouldn’t the killer after mastering the kit be oppressive. Just like a good survivor will seem untouchable because they know how to play very very well.
Oppressive but you'd still have a chance. A master Hillbilly or Huntress you'll have a chance to make good counterplay against. But not a master Spirit. A master Spirit is unstoppable.

I named my account this since I wanted to be an advocate for the trickster. Which is why I made this account around the time he was going to be released. But I been playing longer. But I feel based on what I experience it's possible to get downs vs competent survivors but I feel he requires the most effort out of all the killers if the survivors are decent loopers.
Yeah it's harder to launch weak machine knives then stalking and stabbing. Or running and Stabbing. But despite the extra effort I feel Trickster can handle better.

@Trickstaaaaa said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2234258#Comment_2234258
Have you played him in rank 1???
Because I played all of those killers, trapper mostly and I found I gotten more wins with the trapper, than with the trickster. And I even had to put way less efforts to get downs with the trapper.
First it's a little funny you say this while your name is Trickstaaaaa and just personal experience I've found more success with Trickster although little more then those three.
-
No clue the devs decide to butcher Hillbilly but leave Spirit untouched and a bug bringing balance to her.
-
@Lucent said:
The issue is you are lazy. Let's be honest, you don't want to learn how to counter her because it's inconvenient for you so you whine and complain. She is simple to play and simple to counter.
Please share and tell me it can work against a GOOD Spirit since all the counterplay I hear is worthless against a GOOD Spirit.

He's definitely not the strongest but he's definitely not the worst. I'd definitely feel better with Trickster then Myers, Legion, or Trapper.

I believe Trapper is viable as well, definitely not base-kit Trapper. He's still weak, but he's not unplayable.
You can't get easy 4ks with him, you can get 4ks but not easy ones.
And the OP Myers.
-
@glitchboi said:
What perks are you running?
I think every killer is viable in red ranks. I consider Wraith to be on the weaker end of the killer roster, but he's still viable.
Time to bring out The Trapper and get the easy 4ks.

And I'm sure you tell the Survivors "I'm sorry, I got the map/Killer combo layout that was a free win for me." when the shoe is on the other foot?
Or since you probably will respond that's not possible.
Do you apologize to the remaining Survivors when people disconnect at the start of the match (or even really at all it can end the match there) even though you got a free win from it?
Yes I said thanks for Haddonfield sarcastically first because it was a frustrating game and I brought a killer who sucks on the map like most of them.

Not all haddonfield versions are great ... the fun house can be located in corners of map (within gene-lacking area, just ignore it), most pallets can be located at street cars (easy hit with all 115 killers with some experience), lack of long windows-free fences, ...
Yeah, lots RNG variations of this map can be disgusting ... but this is a myth that all versions of the Myers map are nightmare for all killer classes.

If I had to take a guess, it's probably because the amount of effort they had to put in was too much.
In my humble opinion, it's the biggest mistake they've made so far. It's highly likely that Xbox + PlayStation make up the majority of the playerbase. BHVR has essentially told them that they need to spend 800 USD in order to play the game in a more acceptable state.
37.You recently said how poor optimization makes it hard to enjoy console many times how many players do you believe have been lost due to poor optimization?

Why not have it be one of the existing characters? From things the devs have said we know that one of the older characters (ie. Nea and earlier) are lgbt+. I don't see why confirming which one is such a bad thing.
We can have both lgbt+ characters established with new characters and old ones, by the way.
Would make more sense as Dwight.
